Black Friday…or Black Thursday Afternoon?

Thanksgiving dinner is over, the kitchen is cleaned up, the leftovers are in the fridge…so now what?  Most folks sit and relax and watch either a football game or Christmas movies.  Not my daughter and her family.  They clean up the kitchen from their lobster dinner—they don’t like turkey—and then spend time scouring the internet for coupons and deals and get ready to head out for shopping.  Black Friday used to start at 5 am on Friday, but it has been creeping up earlier and earlier.  Now stores and malls in their area open at 4 in the AFTERNOON of Thanksgiving.  Snooze and you lose!

I am opposed to Black Friday on several levels.  First, I hate crowds!  They creep me out!  Second, hundreds of people are waiting in line to nab the only 3 whatzits on sale for $5.99 and will jump and trample anyone to get one.  Third, did I mention crowds creep me out? LOL

I get all my shopping done way before Thanksgiving.  It matters not to me if I have to pay a little more to ensure that I get exactly what I want and not get trampled in the process.

If you are a Black Friday Warrior…GO AND CONQUER!!

I myself will be watching Christmas movies, snuggling in front of the fire with hot chocolate and hubby!

    1. So you’re having some of the problems I was having, apparently. Things seem to have leveled out for me now. I got off-line for a couple of hours and when I came back, I was able to post like before, here and at M’s. After all my back-and-forth with the help rep, it finally came down to “I can’t do any more for you” BS and I just had to walk away for a while. I asked at one point if they were installing AI and never got an answer to that question!

            1. I had to go thru the WHOLE drill…clearing all my cache/cookies, flush DNS, etc., etc., re-starting the radio and router, re-starting my computer, even switching to the Chrome browser instead of Brave…..sigh…even then, it still didn’t work. That’s when I said fuck it and walked away.

    1. More often than not, it is the immigrants who can’t speak English working for WM pushing around the big carts for orders for people picking up their groceries outside. Them and the huge stock carts stacked with boxes everywhere….still! They are offering starting positions at $16/hour in Norfolk.

  1. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Pat! I never, ever participated in the Black Friday insanity but my daughter looked forward to it every year. She and her best friend, Nicole, would meet up early and be at the doors waiting by 5 am. Nuts! No fricking way! I shop because I have to, that’s it, and certainly not just for fun! Altho, I do have to say…if I win PCH, all bets are off!!!

I had a very pleasant surprise yesterday….on Wednesday, when I was getting ready to head for Norfolk, my doorbell rang and, after throwing a robe over my naked body just out of the shower, I found my handyman’s wife asking if I wanted them to clean my gutters. For $10? Hell yes!!! When I gave her the check, I told her Happy Thanksgiving and asked if they were doing anything special – family get together. She asked what I was doing and I explained that my 2 children were dead, grands estranged, so I would be alone but was fine with that.

Last evening, around 7 pm, the doorbell rang again – it was Jason’s wife (I can’t for the life of me remember her name!) with a plate full of leftovers: turkey, ham, spuds, sweet spuds, dinner roll, gravy. That was sooooo sweet and thoughtful of her to remember me!

Andrew C. McCarthy: “In reality, it is not the government but the Democratic Party that has an interest in a speedy trial — i.e., one that ties its main political opponent up in court and generates negative publicity for him during key junctures of the campaign. If the chief concern were due process rather than electoral politics, the Justice Department and the court would not be prejudiced in the slightest if Trump’s trial were postponed until after the November 5, 2024, election. If that happened, Trump’s free-speech and fair-trial rights would be protected with no harm to the administration of justice.”

  3. https://www.newsweek.com/mike-lindell-promises-expose-everything-georgia-electronic-voting-system-1845665
EXCERPT: “MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is promising that a new ruling in Georgia will “expose everything” and vindicate those like him who have made claims about election fraud.

“This is going to expose everything,” Lindell told Steve Bannon on Bannon’s War Room podcast Monday. “The judge has opened the door that no man can shut.”

Earlier this month, District Judge Amy Totenberg, an Obama appointee, issued a ruling that granted a bench trial for a long-running lawsuit seeking to rid Georgia of its electronic voting machines in favor of hand-marked paper ballots. Lindell celebrated Totenberg’s ruling, which denied the state’s request for her to rule based on the arguments and facts of the case and without a trial.

Lindell has been especially excited about a footnote in the judge’s ruling, which said that the evidence in the case “does not suggest that the Plaintiffs are conspiracy theorists of any variety” and that some of the nation’s leading cybersecurity experts and computer scientists provided evidence that Georgia’s voting system poses a threat to the constitutional rights of voters to cast their votes and have those votes accurately counted.” — Newsweek

Our Take: “The bench trial in Curling v. Raffensberger is set for January 2024, though Judge Totenberg has urged the state legislature to take action about the ‘varied challenges’ with the current voting system. This comes after Georgia’s coordinated election early this month was plagued with issues across a number of counties.

This case has been spinning in the legal system since 2017, so the timing is interesting. It provides another opportunity in which evidence of election fraud can finally be heard in court.

All eyes on Georgia’s election battles in the courts. We’re reaching the tipping point.” — Ashe in America

EXCERPT: “The great city of Dublin, Ireland is currently engulfed in chaos and riots just hours after rallying tweet from Conor McGregor. Five people that included three children were stabbed right outside a school on Thursday afternoon. Presumably an Algerian immigrant who was neutralized after the killing spree. As a result of the horror this generated in the Irish people, Dublin locals decided to riot and make parts of the city impossible to transit. Conor McGregor’s call to war is one of many from Irish locals who don’t agree with the country’s mass immigration indulgence from the government. Conor wrote a series of tweets about this topic and complained against the current government.

Conor McGregor complains about immigrants voting in Ireland.

What Conor McGregor is complaining about is actually happening, he said that non-residents can vote during an election process in Ireland. A tweet directed at all the immigrants currently pouring through the Irish borders. He asked: “US allows non residents to vote? Visitors can vote? I can fly in now and register a vote in the United States elections? Surely not. However, Ireland’s current government is proposing this. A disgrace! A shame! Hang their heads in shame! The Working man is the real hero! Ireland, we are at war. Do not let any irish property be took over unannounced. Evaporate said property. It’s a war.”

What Conor McGregor wrote less than 24 hours ago is becoming more relevant after the tragedy happened in the city of Dublin. While a part of the population doesn’t agree with his point of view, these riots prove that the Irish people are not happy with the current immigration situation in the country. But newsflash, this is a phenomenon happening throughout Europe due to the two wars happening in Palestine and Ukraine. In their attempts to help the displaced immigrants, they are also turning their own people against their governments. Many are already calling for McGregor to run for office in his country. Could tonight’s events persuade him to become a politician? Stay tuned for more info on this. — Marca

Our Take: “Dublin is on fire as I write this. The media is blaming ‘the far right,’ while influencers like UFC fighter Connor McGregor are, rightly, declaring that the citizens of Ireland are at war with their government.

The chaos and violence is a reminder about the inevitable outcomes of open borders immigration. Communities across Europe have been flooded with migrants who don’t share their values or their way of life — and now children are being stabbed in the street.

Now consider that US borders are less secure than Ireland’s, and you quickly become a conspiracy theorist like the rest of us. Our community infrastructure cannot absorb the numbers of migration alone, but the numbers are only one part of the problem.

The lack of cultural assimilation — and the impotence of government officials, drunk on equity, to require such assimilation — is a recipe for Ireland’s woes to play out across the US. It’s a tinderbox, and there are way too many bad actors holding matches. Never let a crisis go to waste.” — Ashe in America

  5. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/authorities-monitoring-incident-bridge-niagara-falls-ny-governor-says-2023-11-22/
EXCERPT: “A speeding car crashed in flames on the bridge linking New York state and Ontario at Niagara Falls on Wednesday, killing two people in the vehicle and sparking a security scare that closed four U.S.-Canadian border crossings.

Hours later, federal and state authorities said investigators had found no evidence of an act of terrorism, though circumstances surrounding the crash on the Rainbow Bridge remained murky, leaving it to be determined whether it was accidental or intentional.

“At this time, there is no indication of a terrorist attack” or threat to the public, New York Governor Kathy Hochul told reporters on Wednesday evening. Her comments were echoed by federal and local law enforcement officials at a separate news conference.

The FBI said in a statement it had concluded its investigation. “A search of the scene revealed no explosive materials, and no terrorism nexus was identified,” the FBI said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Video of the crash caught on security camera and posted to X by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency showed the car traveling from the U.S. side at high speed, then hitting an object and flying into the air before crashing to the ground and exploding in flames.

The driver and a passenger perished in the wreck, and a CBP officer suffered minor injuries. He was treated at a hospital and released, an agency official said later.

Authorities did not identify the two people killed. CNN reported the driver was a 56-year-old man who was traveling in a Bentley automobile with his wife to attend a concert by the rock group KISS.” — Reuters

EXCERPT: “Department of Justice wants high court to find that felons lose Second Amendment rights because of disregard of the law whether or not they’re violent.

The U.S. Department of Justice wants the U.S. Supreme Court to deny a Pennsylvania man his Second Amendment rights for making false statements to obtain food stamps in 1995 in Garland v. Range.

Although the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals found in his favor, lawyers for Bryan David Range are joining the DOJ in seeking to probe the limits of the June 2022 decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen.

The high court hasn’t decided whether to hear the case.

According to court documents, in 1995, Mr. Range’s wife understated their household income on an application for public assistance. Mr. Range took responsibility for the act and pleaded guilty to making a false statement when applying for food stamps in the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

He was sentenced to three years of probation.

Court records show he completed his sentence without incident. He also paid $2,458 in restitution, $288.29 in costs, and a $100 fine.” — The Epoch Times

    1. What about this makes sense??? His wife underestimated their income on the form…and that’s a reason to prevent him from owning a weapon??? HE PAID FOR THE “CRIME!” Probably a LOT more than the benefits they received!

  7. sigh…so company just left and i started the MOUNTAIN of laundry. my son felt “a little sick” when he got here Tuesday night, but they stayed anyway. Wednesday he was taking nightquil at night, dayquil during the day and doing his best to kill germs with alcohol intermittently throughout the day. he felt a little better yesterday but bad again today. my daughter-in-law felt okay till yesterday, then she started to feel bad–so they left early today.
she decided to sleep out on the pull out sofa last night to get some rest…so I have twice as many sheets, blankets and quilts to wash…because apparently the dogs have to sleep with her…sigh

the floors are full of muddy pawprints and almost every window has at least 12 nose prints on it…

sigh…it was fun for the most part.

Thousands of women are jamming up civil court over New York’s Adult Survivors Act.

This unconstitutional law gave these so-called victims a one-year window to file civil suits past the statute of limitation.

These women are targeting wealthy men and hoping they get paid to go away.

How can anyone prove they were sexually assaulted over 20+ years ago?!

How can anyone prove they didn’t sexually assault someone over 20+ years ago?!

    Doesn’t matter in New York.

    Guilty until proven innocent.

Later, we go to a pot-luck with the “quarantine club”. That is a group of us who got together illegally during the lock-down and formed a community that sustains us all. It is truly our own “Galt’s Gulch.

Have a great post-T-day folks, I know I plan to!”

  10. “The Cold War Never Ended”
    CLANDESTINE
    NOV 24, 2023

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Here’s the long and short of the current global geopolitical landscape. Post WW2, the US have done nothing but expand their empire, building military installations and seizing proxy control of key geographical control points like the Panama and Suez Canals. The US have been trying to monopolize control of all the world’s trade routes and resources, invading whatever sovereign nations they wish, all under the guise of “national security” and “defending democracy”.

Russia and China have no interest in a unipolar world controlled by the US, especially considering the US bring only death and destruction to every foreign conflict they engage in. So Russia and China are taking a stand against US expansionism.

Does this mean Russia and China’s governments are innocent or beacons of humanity? No. But you have to recognize their grievances with the US have serious merit. The US are not the righteous defenders of humanity that we were told they were. Post WW2, the US have committed the most evil worldwide, and it’s not even remotely close.

The only way humanity can truly prosper, is if the world superpowers stop viewing each other as enemies, and start viewing each other as partners on the same mission to build a better world together. The only way this happens, is if the POTUS can strike a peace deal with Russia and China, and end the Cold War that never really ended.

I know it sounds crazy, but there is one man out there who might be just crazy enough to make it happen.”

  11. just came back…we drove into town so we could call Mom and wish her a Happy Thanksgiving. when i crawled into bed last night i remembered we were going to try to call her from the house, but with the dogs and them being sick, we totally forgot.
my brother and his wife did come thru and brought Mom a ton of food–turkey and all the trimmings. it seems the restaurant they were going to go to, raised their prices since the last time they checked…it was $30 a person not including drinks or tip.

    1. Oh, good! Then she wasn’t totally alone the whole time! IMO, $30/person isn’t a bad price IF all the trimmings are included.

Legendary comedian Roseanne Barr responded to a general inquiry from Students for Trump founder Ryan Fournier Wednesday when he asked X users, “Who do you think President Trump should choose as his VP pick?” Barr’s answer has gone viral in the hours since garnering an overwhelming show of support from conservative commentators.

Without missing a beat and in a two-letter answer reminiscent of her sitcom career, she replied simply, “Me.”

The response to her self-nomination was immediate and inspiring.
