What Shall We Make Today?

Today’s offering is one of my mom’s favorites—Peanut Butter Fudge!  Super easy and oh-so-delicious!  (You can use chunky peanut butter if you prefer.)

Ingredients

2 cups sugar

2/3 cup milk

1-1/2 cups peanut butter

1 cup marshmallow creme

1 tsp vanilla

Directions

In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar and milk; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

Stir in peanut butter, marshmallow crème, and vanilla until blended. Immediately spread into 8 x 8 pan; cool slightly. (Some recipes recommend greasing the pan with butter, but I have found that ungreased is perfectly fine. The fudge doesn’t stick to the pan at all.)

Refrigerate until firm. Cut into squares. Store between layers of waxed paper in an airtight container.

ENJOY!

    1. Morning, Pat! I finally now know that GT is a male – I grabbed my mini-binoculars and looked closely as he walked away – yep, two little berries hanging there! Another cool start – 64 this morning and mostly sunny. No more Orioles – jelly feeder is coming down for the winter. The hummers are hitting the nectar feeders hard, as well as the various vines and flowers.

Worked on my cantelope bed – did some more pruning and straightening out the vines; added another section of fencing for the vines to climb. Now I have a walking path all the way around and added the tomato cages right-side up so the vines can climb them, too. Every year, I learn something new and figure out better ways to do things. I expect Jerry will be coming by today to tow my mower out of here to see if he can find a used engine for it.

        1. We’re never happy, are we? If it’s raining too much – we bitch. Not enough rain – we bitch. Too much sun -we bitch; not enough sun – we bitch. LOL – and then there are times like now – yes, it’s dry and I wish for rain so I don’t have to water; but I don’t want it to rain since I don’t have a working mower – I don’t want the grass to grow right now! Life is definitely a mixed bag, no matter how you look at it! I’m a stubborn ole biddy and determined but not all problems can be solved. When I hit that brick wall I decide: accept it and move on or put it aside for now and address it again later? Decisions, decisions!

I’m just making note of it. we’ve been here 17 years and i have never experienced such a wet summer. normally the pond constricts in the summer and the animals will seek it out as a water source…and we can do some maintenance on the sides. not this year. and there’s mushrooms growing–cuz there’s plenty of shade and wet ground.
            just different this year.
and cooler temps too…this global boiling ain’t here in the mountains at all

    1. Mark Levin:

      THIS IS A MASSIVE STORY!

That’s why it will be ignored by the Democrat Party media. That said, Bratt not only met with Biden’s staff at the White House while investigating Donald Trump and weeks before Trump was charged, Bratt is the senior DOJ official who insisted on securing a warrant and sending an FBI SWAT team to Mar-a-Lago; and, Bratt stands accused by Stanley Woodward, who represents Walt Nauta in the documents case, of extorting him (Bratt allegedly told Woodward that the judgeship he is seeking has a better chance if his client turns on Trump). Judge Cannon should order, from the bench, that all records related to Bratt’s meetings and discussions at the White House be preserved and provided to the court; and, she should ask the DC judge who has been dragging his feet in his secret review of the allegation against Bratt by Woodward transfer that matter and all the information related to it to her as it clearly bears on the document case that is now before her and in her jurisdiction.

Yet again, I am forced to ask, where the hell are Trump’s lawyers? They should file a motion immediately seeking a court order for the information (mentioned above) and make a big stink about this outrageous news.

Let me add another important point. THIS CLEARLY adds to the overwhelming case for a special counsel, as this not only creates the impression of a conflict of interest but a conflict of interest in fact. The Biden administration cannot be relied on to truthfully explain itself. The standard for appointing a special counsel — a qualified lawyer from outside the government — has been met, again!

I’m authorizing the backbenchers on radio and TV to repeat my points, without attribution, of course.

The Republicans in Congress, though well meaning, keep talking about an Impeachment “Inquiry” on Crooked Joe Biden. Look, the guy got bribed, he paid people off, and he wouldn’t give One Billion Dollars to Ukraine unless they “got rid of the Prosecutor.” Biden is a Stone Cold Crook-You don’t need a long INQUIRY to prove it, it’s already proven. Really BAD Polling for Ron DeSanctimonious. He ought to spend more time in Florida! Remember when Sloppy Chris Christie spent almost all of his final year, as New Jersey Governor, in New Hampshire, with his Security and much else paid for by New Jersey taxpayers? He got destroyed, left N.J. with a record low 8% approval rating, then got rejected by N.H., had NO SUPPORT, and dropped out of the race. Exact same thing is happening to DeSanctus. His Polls are dropping like a rock, including Florida!

From Wiki: “Burning Man is an event focused on community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance held annually in the western United States.[1][2] The name of the event comes from its culminating ceremony: the symbolic burning of a large wooden effigy, referred to as the Man, that occurs on the penultimate night of Burning Man, which is the Saturday evening before Labor Day.[3] The event has been located since 1991 at Black Rock City in northwestern Nevada, a temporary city erected in the Black Rock Desert about 100 miles (160 km) north-northeast of Reno. As outlined by Burning Man co-founder Larry Harvey in 2004, the event is guided by ten principles: radical inclusion, gifting, decommodification, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, participation, and immediacy.[4]”

If one were to destroy enough forests, would the C02 levels in the atmosphere rise?

Can’t help but think the massive fires in Turkey, Greece, Spain, Canada, Oregon, Washington, Montana etc., etc., are eco-terrorists actions being taken to create data that “proves” carbon levels are rising due to “global warming.”

Showing ConRon on Fox (I have it on a delay so it was a few minutes ago) talking about prep for TS Idalia – hurricane Cat 3+ watches on the Gulf coast from Sarasota County all the way to Franklin county in NW Fl. Anyone on the west coast will see major impact since it can wobble one way or the other as it moves up the coast – 46 counties under state of emergency. All counties should have their Emergency Operation Centers activated now; request aid from the State ASAP; don’t wait until 6-8 hours before the storm hits. Heed the directives of evacuation orders from the local officials. People along the coast WILL be asked to evacuate so prepare but people don’t need to leave the state. Move to higher ground within 10’s of miles, not 100’s of miles, which isn’t necessary. They’ve got a couple hundred gallons of fuel ordered and tankers are on the way. Seven urban rescue teams ready, 2500 guardsmen/airmen are pre-staged, with another 3K currently being mobilized. School closures will also happen, district-by-district basis, people need to anticipate it for Tuesday/Wednesday, possibly longer.

  9. “The African Origin of the Slave Trade”
    August 27, 2023 | Paul Craig Roberts

EXCERPT: “For decades liberals have beat into the heads of white Americans that they are racists responsible for enslaving blacks. The insistence on white racism was music to the ears of black activists. Here is racial provocateur Al Sharpton 21 years ago: “The first thing we need to do is acknowledge that you robbed me. Let’s start there with reparations. . . . America must admit its sins in Africa and its sins against people of African descent.”

This lie has become institutionalized in the media, black racial preferences, and in university black studies departments and their graduates. Enough white Americans have been indoctrinated that the public has accepted black racial privileges in university admissions, employment, and promotion for more than a half century. Americans have been falsely blamed, and no historian, no scholar, no investigative reporter stood up to correct the blatant misrepresentation of history.

For many years I have reported that the slave trade was an African institution. The black kingdom of Dahomey was the slaver state. The Dutch, Portuguese, British, and French ship captains were the transporters of blacks enslaved by other blacks to the new world. Apparently, Brazil was a larger market for enslaved blacks than England’s North American colonies.

Dahomey was a highly organized almost absolute monarchy as efficiently organized as the United States today, and perhaps more so, but with far more unity and social cohesion than exists in the United States. Dahomey had powerful enemies over whom Dahomey eventually prevailed due to its success in slave wars. The slaves provided trade goods for European firearms that Dahomey used to build its armies, including a regiment of Amazons, who proved themselves an effective fighting force.

Survival required that Dahomey was organized for war to expand its boundaries and to take captives from opposing forces as slaves, who were used to work the royal plantations that supplied food for the army and to trade to Europeans for weapons. In effect, it was the soldiers of Dahomey’s army who were the slavers. Every soldier to whom gun powder was issued was required to bring to the king the head of an enemy or at least one prisoner as a slave. Many of the enslaved blacks brought to the New World were black warriors captured as prisoners of war, and some were royal personages…..”

  11. “Mike Pence’s Rewriting of His January 6 Heroism–As he makes his actions on January 6 the centerpiece of his campaign, Pence appears to have a different recollection than those of his top aides.”
    JULIE KELLY
    AUG 28, 2023

EXCERPT: “Mike Pence demanded praise. During last week’s GOP debate in Milwaukee, the former vice president forced his Republican opponents to thank him for allegedly saving the republic on January 6, 2021. “The American people deserve to know whether everyone on this stage agrees that I kept my oath to the Constitution that day,” Pence declared.

Unfortunately, the rest of the field complied. “Mike Pence stood for the Constitution and he deserves not grudging credit, he deserves our thanks as Americans,” former New Jersey governor Chris Christie fawned. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) agreed that Pence “did the right thing.” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis admitted Pence “did his duty” and disclosed he has “no beef” with the former vice president.

In fact, the entire raison d’être for Pence’s candidacy is to give himself a national platform to brag about his self-proclaimed role in protecting the Constitution from Donald Trump’s plan to remain in power after the 2020 election. Pence, in Pence’s mind, is the hero to Trump’s villain. But Pence appears to be rewriting the history of what he did on January 6. Contrary to his portrayal as one of the good guys on January 6, in reality, Pence is one of the bad guys.

He intentionally delayed release of a letter outlining why he did not have the authority to reject electors from contested states. Rather than publish the statement the day before or early on January 6, Pence made it public right before the joint session of Congress convened at 1:00 p.m. (He claimed Trump caused the delay since Pence wanted to wait until the president was done speaking at the Ellipse before sending the letter. Trump took the stage about an hour later than planned.)

By waiting until the last minute to make his case, Pence misled the president and Trump supporters who—justifiably or not—believed he could, or would, do something about an election that Pence himself admitted was not on the square…..”

  13. no one is surprised, are they?? big pushers of the cancel student debt in congress have enormous student debt…and they’re dems
    FTA
A total of 14 Democratic members of Congress, who are an average of 45 years old and include the likes of “Squad” Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), reported on 2022 filings holding up to $1.7 million combined in their own or a family member’s student debt. That these same politicians have also urged President Joe Biden to waive away college loans on the backs of taxpayers presents an apparent conflict of interest, ethics experts and a top Republican lawmaker say.

“This is little different from officials advocating or voting for policies that benefit companies in which they own stock,” Michael Chamberlain, director of the watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust, told the Washington Examiner. “Some people may even consider it worse, perhaps, because it’s at the direct expense of taxpayers.

“Regardless of the wisdom of the policy, certainly those who could gain personally from it should think about taking a step back from leading on the issue,” he said.

The Supreme Court in June dealt a heavy blow to Biden’s roughly $400 billion federal student loan forgiveness plan of up to $20,000 each for millions of borrowers, ruling that the proposal skirted congressional authority. The president called the judiciary’s decision “a mistake” soon after, and the White House last week launched a program that allows borrowers to apply for smaller monthly debt payments with the ability to qualify for loan forgiveness after 10 years.

On Wednesday, nearly 90 Democrats joined a letter to Biden asking him to use “additional tools” to “cancel student debt by early 2024.” Should the president do so, 13 signatories or their relatives who in 2022 held loans could reap a windfall.

This comes after Hochul announced the implementation of a measure to protect illegal immigrants from labor investigations in July.

The press release states, “Governor Hochul directed the New York State Department of Labor (DOL) to help connect asylum seekers to employment opportunities so they can begin working immediately after obtaining federal work authorization.”

Prior to the announcement of the program, Hochul directed $20 million in taxpayer dollars to “expedite the casework filing process for more than 30,000” migrants in the state after already using $1.5 billion to support the same group with shelter, healthcare, and other measures.

New York City’s unemployment rate is up to 5.3 percent as of July, while the national unemployment rate hovered around 3.5 percent. During the first half of 2023, an average of 10,000 migrants arrived in the city each month.

This revelation raises more questions about the June 7, 2023, letter dispatched to House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan under Weiss’s signature line, in which the Delaware U.S. attorney claimed he had “ultimate authority” over charging decisions related to Hunter Biden. Just as an example of what happened today in the DC District Court:

I have a relatively simple J6 case that was indicted in late March.

The Trump indictment came more than 4 months later.

We had a status hearing in my case very recently.

We are talking about March and April 2024 trial dates for that case.

So I get a year between indictment and trial in a one-defendant relatively straight-forward J6 case.

And Trump gets 8 months in a case with 12 million pages of discovery and well over 100 witnesses.

So, we’ll see…I think I’ll give my neighbor a call and see if he’s got any 2nd-hand engines or mowers available, and about financing for a mower, if that becomes necessary.

    POLITICS · Aug 28, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis was seen last night waving around a joint in front of local police officers in a desperate attempt to get arrested and have a cool mugshot just like Trump.

“How do you do, officer? A fine morning for a marijuana!” said DeSantis, lighting a joint. “Uh-oh, look at me! I’ve got one of those marijuana cigarette thingies, and I’m totally smoking it! Better break out the cuffs, officer!”

DeSantis proceeded to attempt taking a puff, then instantly collapsed in a coughing fit. “Holy — cough — crap! That is — cough, cough — terrible!” shouted DeSantis, doubled over. “Who would do this? Oh man. Wait – officer, does that still count as doing a marijuana??”

According to police, the officers confiscated the apparent joint and handed the Governor a bottle of water. “Sir, this isn’t weed. These are lawn clippings,” said Officer Ramon Gonzales, putting out the lit end. “Even if it was weed, for a first-time offender we would just tell you to put the dang thing out and go home to your family. I know you need the mugshot sir, but I’m sorry – you’re going to have to do a lot better than this.”

At publishing time, DeSantis was reportedly spotted at a Wendy’s asking if the officer could arrest him for getting Sprite when he only asked for a water cup.”

  24. “To Maintain Historical Accuracy, No One At Renaissance Faire Wearing Deodorant”
    LIFE · Aug 28, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

SOUTH JORDAN, UT — Attendees at this weekend’s popular Renaissance Faire kept with the spirit of the event by not wearing deodorant or taking a shower before donning heavy tunics and cloaks in the 90-plus degree weather.

“HERE YE HERE YE!” Marus T. Whetherford, Renaissance Faire Town Cryer and local GameStop employee bellowed at guests entering the fair. “In keeping with a decree from the King himself, all citizens caught using underarm witchcraft to cloak their scents will be forthrightly expelled from the premises!”

In a long parchment scroll hung by the ticket booth, guests were informed deodorant and antiperspirants were an anachronistic affront to the spirit of the event and all who wished to enter the fairgrounds would need to have at least a 4-day stank on them.

“I said ‘4 days without a shower?’ Try 2 weeks,” Marvin Farnsworth, neck-beard aficionado, told reporters. “I mean, I play D&D with a league that forbids showering more than once a month to maintain authenticity, and I definitely do NOT wear deodorant. I’d be kicked out of my Warhammer guild for such an offense.”

The event was well-attended and the collective scent from the hundreds of ungroomed attendees could be detected for miles around. To further encourage authenticity, guests were asked to bring in only claymores and broadswords with freshly sharpened edges to be used at the ready when challenged by a passing foe.”
