Today’s offering is a great light summer dessert recipe: No Bake Peaches & Cream Dessert!

No Bake Peaches ‘n Cream Dessert is packed full of fresh peaches, a peach infused creamy filling with a sweet Pecan Cookie Crust.
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups peaches peeled, diced
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups crushed pecan sandies cookies approx 15 cookies
3 tbsp butter melted
1 tbsp corn starch
1 tsp vanilla
1 8 oz tub cool whip
Instructions
Combine the diced peaches, lemon juice and sugar. Let sit for 1 hour.
Combine the crushed cookies and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a 9×9 inch pan. Refrigerate until needed again.
Once the hour is up, you should have at least 1/2 cup of ‘syrup’. It’s okay if you have more. If you don’t have 1/2 cup, let it sit a little longer until you have 1/2 cup.
Whisk the cornstarch into the peach syrup. Microwave for 1 minute. The syrup will thicken. Cool to room temperature.
Fold the thickened syrup into the cool whip. Add the vanilla and diced peaches. Stir until complexly mixed.
Spread onto the crust and garnish with more cookie crumbs if desired.
Keep refrigerated until ready to serve. Enjoy!

Good morning, Pat! Now THAT is a recipe even I could figure out….I think! Scattered clouds here from thunderstorms passing by, mostly to the south, thankfully. We just got the tail-end of it but there is more predicted over the next couple of days. Only 62 this morning and it was windy when I first got up at 5:45 so I brought in the feeders. Looked for GT, no sign of him, but I saw some gorgeous clouds and a faint rainbow so I had to grab my camera….these are all in the east:

And a faint rainbow in the west:
After a few minutes, I checked to see if GT had arrived and there he sat, closer this time – close enough that I could hear his mew for the first time – he was within arms reach but I didn’t try. Progress!

I talk soothingly while I hold out my hand and wiggle my fingers….I won’t try until he approaches me first and sniffs my fingers. It has to be on his terms and he has to want the interaction. Consistency is the biggest criteria – he is into the “routine” now of being fed every morning and gradually getting more and more comfortable with getting closer. It’s a challenge to see if I can “tame” him. What I don’t have the patience for is to sit out there and just wait…after 5 minutes, I get bored and need to move, to do something….

“We Will Bring You Down”: German MP Vows To Dismantle WHO’s Grip On Governments
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/we-will-bring-you-down-german-mp-vows-dismantle-whos-grip-governments
German MP Christine Anderson last week shredded the World Health Organization, calling it a group of “globalitarian misanthropists” who she – and a group of seven other MPs, have vowed to dismantle in order to oppose the WHO supplanting democratically elected governments.
“An unelected body like who is controlled and run by multi-billionaires should never be allowed to act in place of a democratically elected government,” she said during the Citizen’s Initiative conference in Brussels.
Anderson says she’ll expose and name any individuals, including government officials and parliamentarians, who support the WHO ‘power grab’ and disrespect democracy.
“It is you [WHO] that is the small fringe minority,” she continued. “You are the ones who do not have the right to dictate to the people what they want and what they don’t want.”
“So take it from me … take it from the millions and millions of people around the world. We will bring you down, and we will not tire until we have done just that. So brace yourselves. We are here, and the fight is on. So let’s have the fight.”

Oversight Committee
@GOPoversight
🚨BREAKING🚨
Today, our committee staff conducted a transcribed interview with a former FBI supervisory special agent assigned to the FBI’s Wilmington office and the Biden criminal investigation.
The agent CONFIRMED key portions of the IRS whistleblowers’ testimony, including that both Secret Service headquarters and the Biden transition team were TIPPED OFF about the planned Hunter Biden interview.
In fact, on the day of the Hunter Biden interview, FEDERAL AGENTS WERE TOLD TO STAND BY AND TO NOT APPROACH HUNTER BIDEN— they had to wait for his call. As a result of the change in plans, IRS and FBI criminal investigators never got to interview Hunter Biden as part of the investigation.
The former FBI supervisory special agent told committee investigators he had never been told to wait outside to be contacted by the subject of an investigation.
The agent’s testimony is sickening and reveals the lengths to which the DOJ is willing to go to cover up for the Bidens. The Oversight Committee, along with the @JudiciaryGOP
and @WaysandMeansGOP
, will continue to seek the answers, transparency, and accountability that the American people demand and deserve.

Portland’s suspected serial killer is a convicted felon released early by former Oregon governor: police
A man that was released early from an Oregon state prison is a suspected serial killer in the greater Portland metro area, authorities say.
Jesse Lee Calhoun, 38, of Portland, Oregon has allegedly been linked by detectives to four of six women found dead earlier this year in the Portland metro area, according to Willamette Week.
Calhoun was released from prison in 2021, twelve months early, after being granted clemency at the direction of former Democrat Gov. Kate Brown. Brown began to issue mass commutations during the Covid-19 pandemic, which included early release to prisoners that were either considered to be well-behaved, were nearing the end of their sentences, and were vulnerable to the virus, the outlet reports.
On June 1, 2022, the Oregonian reported that the bodies of six young women had been found in the greater Portland area, prompting speculation of a potential serial killer. Those bodies included Kristin Smith, found in Southeast Portland on Feb. 19; Joanna Speaks, found in Ridgefield, Washington on April 11; Charity Perry, found at Ainsworth State Park on April 24; and an unidentified woman, also found on April 24, in Lents; Bridget Webster, found in Oregon’s Polk County on April 30; and Ashley Real, found in Clackamas County on May 7.

Six Key Takeaways from the Released IRS Whistleblower Transcripts
1. IRS officials recommended that Hunter Biden be charged with tax crimes, including felonies, starting with tax year 2014.
2. Whistleblower testimony pointed to Hunter Biden’s $8.3 million income that includes foreign payments in the form of a large diamond valued at $80,000 and a Porsche worth at least $142,000. A large part of the income came from Chinese entities.
3. In September 2019, President Biden said “I’ve never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings” – yet President Biden himself is implicated in messages between Hunter Biden and CEFC China Energy officials provided by whistleblowers.
4. Whistleblowers testified that investigations into Hunter Biden’s clear tax issues were met with a “Delay, Divulge, and Deny” campaign – that ultimately shielded the President’s son by allowing the statute of limitations to expire on several tax crimes for some of the most key years of violations – those when Joe Biden was the Vice President of the United States.
5. IRS employees said they worked through the chain of command to raise concerns about this “Delay, Divulge, and Deny” campaign – only to be met with hostility and retaliation, leading them to come to the Ways and Means Committee.
6. Attorney General Merrick Garland and U.S. Attorney David Weiss are telling different stories about who was in charge of the investigation – and only one story can be true.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., told Newsmax on Monday the Secret Service “destroyed” the bag containing cocaine at the White House and does not have enough DNA evidence to identify who may have left it there.
“[The Secret Service] don’t even have the key from the locker [where the cocaine was found] and they said originally ‘we didn’t find enough DNA, now, and they went back and said, ‘we didn’t find any DNA,'” Burchett said during “The Chris Salcedo Show” on Monday, discussing a briefing on the controversial drug find and resulting probe. “Apparently, they destroyed the bag and any chance of getting any DNA.”
He said that if something similar occurred while he was the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, the police would have come in with “hazmat suits,” put it into an evidence bag, and taken it to a lab for analysis.
“I was Knox County mayor,” he said. “When we found an unknown substance somewhere, we called on law enforcement are sheriff’s department, the best in the country, and our police department, one of the best in the country, obviously to come in with hazmat suits to put in the bag and take it to a lab. That’s exactly what they should have done here. They should have taken it to Quantico and analyzed it, but instead, they destroyed the bag.”
NBC News reported on July 13 that the Secret Service was closing its investigation into the bag of the drug found in a White House “cubby” near the Situation Room in the West Wing during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
According to the report, the baggie containing the cocaine did not yield any usable fingerprints or DNA when examined at two different federal labs.
Likewise, security video footage of the area did not show who may have left the bag there.
“The investigation will not be able to single out a person of interest from the hundreds of individuals who passed through the vestibule where the cocaine was discovered,” the Secret Service told NBC News.
Burchett said that it appears even some Republicans may be helping the Democrats covering up for the administration of President Joe Biden.
“We have some [GOP] members that don’t have any guts, frankly and it ticks me off,” he said. “I have often said that you know, we are the government’s checkbook, and we need to start cutting money to these groups. The IRS, the Pentagon, Department of Justice.”

If drugs were found in your house…
By Nick Lopez
If a baggie of coke were found in your house by federal agents, the assumption would be that it belonged to the primary resident (owner or renter). The next assumption would be that (no matter the amount found), that person is a “kingpin” …this means that they seize all assets, especially cash.
Now, that they assume you are the equivalent of Pablo Escobar, in order to not be charged as a “kingpin,” you have to set up the person who sold the drugs to you.
This is how it has worked for the entirety of the drug war.
They don’t even have to find drugs if you are pulled over and they find cash. They just take the cash, even if you can prove it came from legitimate sources.
They don’t take fingerprints from baggies, they don’t watch video surveillance. They squeeze you until someone goes to jail… and someone always goes to jail.
They don’t knock, they kick the door down. They don’t make announcements to the press, they don’t ask the suspects questions. No one ever knows an investigation is happening until the tri-county/federal/state drug task force posts 33 mugshots on the evening news.
There isn’t ever a trial, they make the possible trial sentence so ridiculously long that everyone just pleas out.
Federal agents found cocaine in the White House.
Joe Biden’s name is on the lease.
According to established police practice, the coke belongs to the person whose name is on the lease, until that person hands over someone else… A bigger fish.
What possible “bigger fish” could the President of the United States offer?
This should be a really big deal. The head of the Biden crime family should be cooling his heels in the slammer while all his assets are seized and accounted for, after all, he might be a dealer or even a kingpin!
As a matter of fact, cocaine found in a residence is the perfect excuse to look into the First Family’s and entire White House staff’s finances, really deeply… and drug test them all, every day (cocaine users can easily evade a monthly drug test, as it only stays detectable for a day or two).
We can’t risk the White House becoming a crack house! The DEA must investigate this further, and that always starts with a no-knock raid!

Pat, altho she most likely already knows, this provides some info – it’s a low calcium issue. I’ve seen a lot of that while watching Dr. Pol.
“What causes milk fever in goats?
With the onset of milk production after giving birth, your goat must supply a large quantity of calcium with her milk. The goat normally has more than enough calcium reserves in her bones, but if she has been on a diet high in calcium during her dry period, her body may have “forgotten” how to mobilize those calcium reserves because it hasn’t needed to. Consequently, when she starts lactating, and she needs to deliver calcium to the mammary glands for milk production, her blood calcium levels may fall to a dangerous level, resulting in what is known as milk fever.
Symptoms of goat milk fever and what to do
Moderate milk fever will make the goat lethargic, with poor appetite and poor milk production. Acute cases of milk fever can leave the goat in a coma; she will need immediate veterinary attention. Your veterinarian will need to administer calcium gluconate directly into the bloodstream to restore the normal concentrations of blood calcium and re-establish your goat’s health. Your goat cannot absorb enough calcium nor can she absorb it fast enough from food to meet the immediate needs of lactation, and if she is ill, she won’t be eating anyway.”

My advice when babies are due would be to get some calcium gluconate from their vet ahead of time, as long as they can do it intravenously themselves. Many dairy farms do that.

Zelensky-Aligned “Peacemaker” Site Orders Assassination Of Bulgarian Investigative Journalist
Having worked to uphold “democracy” in Ukraine by closing churches, jailing political opponents, oppressing ethnic minorities, and cancelling elections, a Ukrainian NGO widely known to be affiliated with the SBU and Volodomir Zelensky has taken the next step in the fight for “freedom” by ordering the assassination of Dilyana Gaytandzhieva, one of Bulgaria’s leading investigative journalists.
The Zelensky-Aligned Peacemaker Site, widely considered as an arm of secret police, the SBU, added Gaytandzhieva to their list of targets for liquidation that they publish on their Orwellian-named “Peacemaker” website on April 15.
The announcement published the name of the journalist with her photos, year and place of birth, as well as her social media profiles and media publications, as well as a link to her personal blog.

It may not make it and the red one is just sitting there, in the pot, doing nothing…..sigh…
I do have some tiny baby cantaloupe on a vine or two so at least I’m good at growing them! I’m just a veggie kind of gal, I guess. The Cilantro came up and I’m going to try it in a ham/cheese omelet – I can smell it, at least, altho not as strongly.

“The Nuclear Option: States Could Take Over College Admissions”
“Below is my column in the Hill on the opposition to the Supreme Court’s opinion declaring the use of race in admissions to be unconstitutional. The defiance expressed to the decision (and view of the majority of the public) could trigger a nuclear option in states that want to end decades of conflicts over the race-based admissions. It would be a major blow to the autonomy of universities, but administrators and faculty appear undeterred by the possibility of state intervention.”
———–
EXCERPTS: “Under the preexisting standards for the use of race in admissions, schools spent decades assuring the courts that race was not being weighed heavily and had only marginal effects on admissions. However, after the ruling, schools declared that Black and Latino admissions would “plummet” if they were no longer permitted to use race as a criterion for admission.
Those arguments have deepened the distrust over how universities will adjust to the ruling in seeking to preserve current diversity numbers. Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, who previously called the conservative justices “partisan hacks,” was recently criticized for suggesting that he might be willing to lie about the weight given to race at this school. He told students: “I’ll give you an example from our law school, but if ever I’m deposed, I’m going to deny I said this to you. When we do faculty hiring, we’re quite conscious that diversity is important to us, and we say diversity is important, it’s fine to say that.”
Although Chemerinsky later insisted that he had been joking, the comments highlighted a concern that schools would be less than honest in manipulating reviews to achieve diversity goals. Indeed, one of the earliest moves to blunt any constitutional ruling may have come from the former head of the California university system, Janet Napolitano. After citizens of one of the most liberal states in the union voted in 2020 to block affirmative action in education and hiring, Napolitano moved to drop the primary method used to expose racial preferences: standardized tests.
Before that, she had assembled a handpicked task force in 2019 to study the issue. But the task force found the opposite of what it had been designed to find. Standardized testing, it turned out, proved to be the single most accurate indicator of college performance, including for non-white students. Napolitano overrode those conclusions and ended the use of the standardized college tests anyway.
After this recent ruling, many universities denounced the Supreme Court and pledged to “reimagine” admissions. Medical schools are being encouraged “to pivot” in order to continue to reach diversity goals for entering classes. More schools are moving to dump objective standardized tests (or make them optional) in favor of more subjective scoring in order to shield racial criteria for admissions.
That has led many citizens to ask what can be done. After all, most people oppose such use of race in admissions. Even liberal states such as California and Michigan have made it unlawful by referendum. Now, the Supreme Court has declared it unconstitutional as well. Yet most believe the fight will continue as schools creatively construct new pathways to accommodate racial discrimination.
In the academic echo chamber, these discussions are playing well with their audiences, but less so with the public. Worse yet, they assume that there is not much that can be done to thwart their efforts. They are wrong.
There is a nuclear option. This is for states to take over admissions in public higher education. States could require the use of standardized testing and codify admissions criteria, including requiring transparency and annual certifications from school officials…..”

Big court hearing today in special prosecutor Jack Smith’s “classified documents” case against Donald Trump.
Judge Aileen Cannon will consider Smith’s request to continue trial from August to December and Smith’s strict protective order for defense handling of (alleged) classified materials. (More on that later)
So let’s set the record straight as to what’s happened in this case so far.
Just like Russia collusion–and every other anti-Trump farce concocted by Democrats, administrative state apparatchiks, and the media (but I repeat myself)–the ruling narrative is that Donald Trump intentionally stole hundreds of top-secret files from the government, hid them in boxes, and took them to Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster with the intention of sharing sensitive information with our enemies in the ultimate betrayal of America.
DOJ apologists/Republicans, as usual, also promote the lie. Chris Christie told CNNs Jake Tapper over the weekend that Trump “illegally retained classified national secrets after being asked—politely, quietly, and professionally for 18 months—to voluntarily turn them back over after he left the White House.” Christie further claimed Trump “flashed around documents regarding an Iranian war plan to people who didn’t have clearance to see them” and lied to his lawyers.
Here are some facts:
In May 2021, National Archives contacted Trump’s team to insist presidential records were missing in possible violation of the Presidential Records Act. (According to congressional testimony by NARA CEO William Bosanko, Trump did not pack the boxes himself. No duh. https://twitter.com/julie_kelly2/status/1670463772505276418?s=20
)
So, what was missing? Bosanko, a longtime bureaucrat, said Obama’s letter to Trump (LOL) and Trump’s correspondence with Kim Jong Un needed to be turned over. When pressed for more detail, Bosanko balked.
Trump could’ve told NARA to pound sand but instead he VOLUNTARILY gave NARA 15 boxes of materials in Jan 2022 (NARA noted his cooperation) to comply with PRA.
Bosanko claimed he “immediately” identified classified documents among the files in the 15 boxes.
But Bosanko also told Congress Trump did NOT KNOW (alleged) classified papers were in the boxes
Within 48 hours, Bosanko worked with NARAs inspector general to send a CRIMINAL REFERRAL to Biden’s DOJ, something he had never done in the past:
Biden/Garland/Monaco DOJ wasted no time opening a criminal investigation in March 2022. Grand jury convened in April. Subpoena for “any and all documents…bearing classification markings” authorized in May.
After what appears to have been an extensive review–which involved Walt Nauta, his aide and charged co-conspirator as well as attorney Evan Corcoran–Trump produced another 38 “responsive” to hand over to DOJ.
Keep in mind–Trump allowed FBI agents and DOJ counterintelligence chief Jay Bratt INTO HIS HOME on June 3 to accommodate the investigation. (Who among us doesn’t attempt to obstruct justice and compromise national security while allowing a top Biden DOJ henchman into his home for hours and telling him–according to court docs–“Whatever you need, just let us know.”)
But DOJ had to keep the ruse going. So an agent out of the corrupt Washington FBI field office sought a search warrant not just for “classified” material but for the “national defense information.” FLA Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart approved the overly-broad search warrant and the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago on August 8.
After a roughly 9-hour raid, the FBI absconded with 13,000 pieces of evidence.
Of that trove, DOJ later admitted agents located 102 documents with “classified markings.” That’s it.
Even if the DOJ is to be believed, which it is not, there is no reason why the regime could not have continued to work with a fully COOPERATIVE Trump team to locate the other files.
But that would have thwarted another DOJ-led “Get Trump in handcuffs” scheme.
After Trump announced he would run for president against Joe Biden, AG Merrick Garland in Nov 2022 appointed mediocrity Jack Smith as special counsel. Smith basically took DOJ prosecutors and investigators already working on both criminal investigations into Trump–documents and Jan 6–and moved them to his office down the street.
In one of many DOJ dirty tricks, nearly the entire investigation took place in the DC not Florida. Trump-hating chief judge Beryl Howell, a former Dem Senate staffer appointed by Obama who also oversaw the malignant Robert Mueller witch hunt, again consented to DOJs every demand.
Without her (still sealed) “landmark” order compelling grand jury testimony and attorney privileged communications from Trump’s lawyer Evan Corcoran citing the unusual “crime fraud exception,” Smith would have no case whatsoever.
https://abcnews.go.com/US/judge-orders-testimony-trump-attorney-piercing-attorney-client/story?id=97947297
She also authorized a subpoena for Smith to collect security camera footage of Mar-a-Lago. Howell knows no boundaries when it comes to using her unchecked partisan authority against Donald Trump, his associates, and his supporters.
Click to access ECF%20No.%202%20Order_20220829.pdf
The handling of the investigation was so unusual that it alarmed even longtime FBI bagman Steven D’Antuono, WFO chief involved in the 2020 Whitmer fednapping hoax:
But at the last minute, Smith moved the investigation to the proper venue—southern FLA–and reportedly just read the DC case file to a FLA grand jury LOL:
Smith indicted Trump in June 2023 on 37 counts including 31 counts for the “willful retention of national defense information” and obstruction, perjury charges.
Click to access US_v_Trump-Nauta_23-80101.pdf
Judge Cannon, who appointed a special master last September to review evidence seized by the FBI amid her concerns about DOJ leaks to media and FBIs mishandling of privileged materials, will hear from both sides today. Smith filed a 16-page motion yesterday detailing absurdly onerous rules for Trump/Nauta viewing of “classified” files. Trump’s team filed a motion earlier this month detailing why the trial should be delayed–among many concerns is Smith’s onerous rules for viewing classified evidence.
But Smith knows this case is small potatoes compared to what he’s about to inflict on Trump and several associates for January 6. It’s very likely Smith will use the “classified docs” prosecution as leverage to seek pretrial detention for Trump when the special counsel indicts Trump for several J6-related offenses, which could include seditious conspiracy.
As I’ve said for months–buckle up, folks.

this long article makes me want to gag. china bought a lot of american farmland to erect hog farms. in china, farmers are prohibited from spraying hog shit on fields; they have to erect wastewater plants in china to deal with the crap. that makes it much more expensive to raise hogs in china.
so china bought up a lot of farmland and starting raising hogs. the surrounding property owners are sick of the smell, sick of property values declining, sick of not being to cook out, invite people over or even open the windows.
china is treating the us as a dumping ground and then transporting the “clean pork” back to their country.

“Confidential Biden DOD memo reveals “transgender” service members can skip deployments and receive indefinite physical fitness/standards waivers — The Dossier is publishing the Pentagon memo for public consumption.”
JORDAN SCHACHTEL
JUL 18, 2023
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The Dossier has acquired a new Department of Defense (DOD) memo that goes into great detail on the topic of “care of service members who identify as transgender.” The document, which is not classified but has long remained unavailable to Americans, is being published here for the first time for public consumption. The 34 page memo details the enormous perks granted to service members who identify as transgender.

At the beginning of his tenure, President Biden ended President Trump’s ban on people who identify as transgender serving in the military. Since then, the Biden Administration has granted more and more benefits to this cohort, leading to dudes like this being celebrated by the Defense Department.
Anyway, here’s some of the “highlights” found within the document:
Taxpayer funded “care” for transgender service members includes:
— speech/voice therapy
— cross-sex hormones,
— laser hair removal,
— voice feminization surgery,
— facial contouring,
— body contouring,
— breast/chest surgery (“upper surgery”)
— genital mutilation surgery (“lower surgery”).
— Psychological counseling
Service members who identify as transgender may receive a waiver for grooming and uniform standards. Service members who identify as transgender may receive an indefinite waiver for physical fitness standards. This waiver often becomes a de facto permanent situation, and the transgender identifying service member just has to renew the exemption request every six months.
Service members who identify as transgender will be considered “non-deployable” for up to 300 days while taking hormones for their “transition” period. Again, given that these hormones are often required for life, this may render the transgender identifying service member as permanently unable to deploy.
The United States military is facing its worst recruiting environment since 1973, when the conscription era ended and the current all-volunteer force was formed. As the Defense Department memo makes clear, the U.S. military in 2023 represents more of a social welfare and social justice program than an entity purposed with defeating an aggressing army.
You can find the memo in the attached PDF below:”
Hmm…bummer – you have to download it to your computer….personally, I don’t feel the need – I’ve got enough saved on my HD – I don’t need that! Let me know if you want it…my bet is you feel the same way I do – fuck ’em! LOL

“Is women licking ice cream in public ‘obscene’ behavior? Backlash against Syrian journalist at left-wing German newspaper–Mohamad Alkhalaf claims that women licking ice cream and other phallic-shaped foods in public is considered “vulgar behavior”
July 18, 2023
editor: REMIX NEWS author: THOMAS BROOKE
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “A Syrian journalist in Germany has sparked a fierce backlash on social media after penning an article questioning how appropriate it is for women to lick ice cream cones in public in a civilized society.
Writing for the Bavarian-based Süddeutsche Zeitung, Mohamad Alkhalaf sought to contrast the cultural differences between German society and that of his native Syria and used the consumption of ice cream in public as one example. In his article titled, “Is eating ice cream outdoors obscene?” he claimed that women licking ice cream from a cone is considered “vulgar behavior” in his homeland.
“In many conservative societies, of which Syria is definitely one in a sense, women in particular are expected to show a reserved and respectful demeanor in public,” Alkhalaf wrote. “Eating ice cream and other meals that could be considered phallic in shape would be perceived as provocative or offensive,” he added. He claimed that, upon his arrival in Munich, he was ashamed to see such offensive behavior in public but has now gotten used to it. He added, however, that many new arrivals will not understand or appreciate such public acts and may find it more difficult to adapt.
Several political commentators and lawmakers responded to the article: “It is 2023 and a Syrian Muslim named Mohamad from the IS stronghold of Raqqa complains in an article in an allegedly progressive left-wing newspaper that Germans are eating ice cream here outdoors,” tweeted Jan Wenzel Schmidt, an MP for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
Gudrun Kofler, an Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) member of the Tyrolean state parliament, suggested that journalists of the left-wing Süddeutsche Zeitung instead write about “how obscene it is when men half-naked and with clearly visible male genitals dance in front of children under tight-fitting minis and sit them on their laps at publicly funded readings,” making reference to the recent LGBT Pride events taking place across the Western world.
Alexander Möhnle, head of Talk Bild TV, asked whether the newspaper was “the new trade journal for the Taliban,” while Marianna von Artsruni from the Young Forum of the German-Israeli Society said the Süddeutsche should not be providing a platform for those wishing to scandalize everyday activities such as eating ice cream and riding bicycles. “These are not banal cultural differences that a newspaper should help to make socially acceptable,” she added.
Berlin AfD politician Georg Pazderski reminded Alkhalaf that he is a guest in Germany and should be thankful for being there.”
