DIY: Show Your Colors

This 4th of July, display your patriotic pride! With these super simple wreath ideas, you can show the world what country has your heart!

Bandana Wreath

If you can tie a knot, you can make this wreath! And you don’t even need a formal wreath form as a base. You can use cardboard!

Pompom Wreath

This wreath uses pompoms glued to a wreath form (found in any dollar store).

Clothespin Wreath

After you paint the clothespins, you attach them to a wire wreath form. (You might have to get one of those at a craft store.) Add some purchased wooden or foam stars.

Card Stock Paper Wreath

To make this wreath, make funnels out of card stock paper (thicker and stiffer than regular colored paper). Then attach the funnels to a cardboard circle in a flower design. Add a pleated circle for the center and finish off with a star!

Canning Lids Wreath

After painting the lids, use heavy ribbon to tie the lids into a tight circle. (This will be the smaller inner circle.) Then use additional ribbon to weave in and out of the lids on the outer edge as shown. Add foam stars and a bow!

Party On Peeps!

Federal Court Delivers Blow to ATF’s Ban on ‘Ghost Guns’
    https://www.theepochtimes.com/federal-court-delivers-blow-to-atfs-ban-ghost-guns_5370013.html

A federal judge delivered a blow to the Biden administration’s gun control policy by reversing a federal ban on so-called “ghost guns” and argued that the ATF overstepped its authority.

Texas-based United States District Court Judge Reed O’Connor on Friday ruled that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) erred by saying that unfinished gun parts are guns and can, therefore, be regulated. His ruling said that parts aren’t guns under federal law.

“This case presents the question of whether the federal government may lawfully regulate partially manufactured firearm components, related firearm products, and other tools and materials in keeping with the Gun Control Act of 1968,” wrote O’Connor in his order (pdf). “Because the court concludes that the government cannot regulate those items without violating federal law, the court holds that the government’s recently enacted final rule … is unlawful agency action taken in excess of the ATF’s statutory jurisdiction. On this basis, the court vacates the final rule.”

His order also stated that the ATF is trying to regulate a gun component as a “frame or receiver,” even after the agency determined “the component in question is not a frame or receiver.” Elaborating, he wrote: “It may not. Logic dictates that a part cannot be both not yet a receiver and receiver at the same time. Defendants’ reliance on that logical contradiction is fatal to their argument.”

Gee, the French Rioters / Protestors are brandishing AK-47s!

Interesting Note: On Twitter after a video showing rioting, looting, arson and violence such as the ones below, French people throughout the countryside always chime in, “No problem here, just another sunny Sunday afternoon” so who knows what is going on?

Although I have heard that rioting has also spread to Belgium and Switzerland (of all places!)

Colleges should be required to guarantee repayment of loans to their students. The result would be a redirection of loan funds from social and woke studies to STEM because of the earning power of graduates.… pic.twitter.com/cptWmSFh6i

    1. IDK see why colleges should be responsible for guaranteeing the loans….the student/parent signed those loans so that is on them. That is not to say there aren’t big “issues” with colleges but once the legal document is signed….well, that’s on the person who CHOSE to sign it.

Florida bill allowing radioactive roads made of potentially cancer-causing mining waste signed by DeSantis

Elise Bennett, Florida and Caribbean director and attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity, said in a statement that the bill is a “reckless handout to the fertilizer industry.”

“Gov. DeSantis is paving the way to a toxic legacy generations of Floridians will have to grapple with,” Bennett said. “This opens the door for dangerous radioactive waste to be dumped in roadways across the state, under the guise of a so-called feasibility study that won’t address serious health and safety concerns.”

we are all lab rats to the medical community.
when my doctor became affiliated with a hospital, they wanted to know all my “other doctors” and have all their test results and what not compiled into one big file. I told them to take a flying leap.
they ask me every visit about eye exams, mammograms and colonoscopies, etc—I tell them if there’s anything you need to know I’ll tell you.
then they ask for “just the doc’s name”…i look at them and laugh. nope, not happening.
i did tell them when i got my cataracts done and they assumed that that doc was my eye doctor and called her about my yearly exams.
when they told me i haven’t seen her in 3 years, I said I never said she was my regular eye doctor…
the nurse then argued they needed to consolidate my medical care in one place…i said i’m not a lab rat. get over it!

    FTA
A controversial, defund-the-police Boston City Councilor crashed her car into a house, injuring herself and her 7-year-old son.

Kendra Lara, 33, was driving with a “revoked license” in an unregistered car without insurance and an expired inspection sticker and her son, Zaire, was not in a booster seat at the time of the crash, according to a police report obtained by The Post.

Zaire was taken to Boston Children’s Hospital where he received “several stitches” and is expected to be all right, her office said in a statement quoted by the Boston Globe.

Lara was once described as “the first black socialist ever to be elected to the Boston City Council,” and confirmed in a text message that she was involved in a crash Friday, her office said, adding she was with her son in the emergency room. Lara reportedly suffered “some cuts and will probably require some stitches,” her spokesman said.

Lara’s car was totaled in the wreck.

Lara’s spokesman said the councilor was driving when she swerved to avoid hitting another car and crashed through a fence and yard before striking a house.

According to the police report obtained by The Post, Lara was driving an unregistered vehicle and her license had been revoked.

It further alleged that her child was not in a booster seat, which is a violation of state law for children younger than 8 or shorter than 57 inches.

Lara’s name was redacted in the official report but her name was visible in a draft police report obtained by the Boston Herald.

The driver of the vehicle Lara apparently cited as the reason she swerved to avoid an accident contradicted Lara’s version of events, stating he had barely begun to pull out of his parking space when he noticed a car traveling at a high rate of speed which passed by him, then suddenly turned left and crashed into the house, according to the police report.

Lara’s car went through the metal fence at the home, then crashed into and drove over the bushes before smashing into the porch and foundation of the house, causing considerable damage, the report stated.

According to the police report, a 51A report — a form required to be submitted to the Department of Children and Families when “child abuse or neglect” is suspected — could be filed “due to neglect and failure to use a proper car seat for the child’s safety.”

In addition to reports, backed up by posts Lara has made on Twitter, that she supports the defunding of police and the abolition of prisons, she also lives in income restricted housing meant for people with lower salaries, according to several accounts.

She was also the subject of a vulgar tape circulating for the past five months that apparently shows Owen Thomas, a Boston charter school teacher, talking happily about having just completed a sex act with the public official.

“Media Whitewashes Dirty Tricks War Against Daniel Ellsberg”
    KIT KLARENBERG
    JUL 3, 2023

EXCERPT: “On June 16, famed US government whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg passed away at the age of 92. While employed by the highly influential RAND Corporation think tank, he became the subject of international political controversy of historic proportions in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers.

These documents were an extensive internal history of Washington’s covert and overt political, military, and intelligence activities in Vietnam from 1945–1967. They offered extraordinary insider insight into how US government officials consistently deceived the public, journalists, and lawmakers about the reality of the conflict, and kept the blood-spattered, unwinnable quagmire grinding on.

The Pentagon Papers were published by a variety of major newspapers. Within two weeks, Ellsberg was indicted under the notorious 1917 Espionage Act. At his trial two years later, facing up to 115 years in prison if convicted, he was prohibited from defending his leak of classified information as in the public interest and/or that the material was illegally classified to keep their contents hidden not from the country’s enemies overseas but US citizens.

As it was, in May 1973, all charges against Ellsberg were dismissed, and for the remainder of his life, he was widely venerated as a hero in the mainstream. More sinisterly though, as forensically documented by independent journalist Kevin Gzostola, Ellsberg’s case has been brazenly weaponized and distorted by the US political and media establishment to discredit WikiLeaks chief Julian Assange and NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

In the process, the invincible myth of Ellsberg as a “good leaker” has been dishonestly perpetuated. It holds that he released the Pentagon Papers in the “right” way – using formal complaint channels, withholding information he considered “particularly sensitive” to protect national security, then voluntarily turning himself in to face justice for his actions.

As such, anyone releasing classified government secrets who fails to follow Ellsberg’s purported “example” is to be condemned. But this is a wholly false dichotomy he himself, an ardent supporter and defender of Assange, Snowden, and Chelsea Manning to the last, repeatedly and robustly repudiated over the years. By his own admission, he went about leaking the Pentagon Papers “the wrong way”:

“I wasted years trying to do it through [official] channels, first within the executive branch and then with Congress. During that time, more than 10,000 Americans died and probably more than a million Vietnamese. So that’s not a point of pride with me that I did what I should have done…That was a fruitless effort, as it would have been for Manning and Snowden.”

Furthermore, as Ellsberg wrote in 2013, the modern US is a “different” country from when he released the Pentagon Papers. While awaiting trial, he remained at liberty to the extent of attending anti-war rallies and frequently speaking to the media. In post-9/11 America, there was no chance he wouldn’t be imprisoned in advance and wholly cut off from the outside world for potentially years. He resultantly endorsed Snowden having sought asylum overseas that year.”

Adopted girl accused of ‘masquerading’ as 6-year-old spotted with new dad selling fireworks on parking lot
    July 2, 2023

A Ukrainian-born American woman who was accused by her former adoptive family of “masquerading” as a child despite allegedly being an adult was reportedly spotted with her new pastor dad selling fireworks on an Indiana parking lot.

Natalia Grace was featured in the recent Investigation Discovery documentary “The Curious Case Of Natalia Grace,” where her former adoptive family, the Barnetts, accused her of emotionally and physically abusing them while pretending to be a 6-year-old girl even though she was allegedly 20. Natalia has a rare form of dwarfism called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita.

Natalia was spotted last week with her new adoptive dad and pastor, Antwon Mans, selling fireworks in a tent on the parking lot outside a Walmart in Greencastle, Indiana, the Sun exclusively reported. She was seen using a walker to help her move around, while wearing a T-shirt with “a religious message,” according to The Sun.

Natalia, who is supposedly now 19, has denied the allegations leveled at her by the Barnetts and will be featured in a follow-up ID documentary later this year called “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks.”

“It’s very frustrating to hear everything that’s being said from Kristine and Michael because I already don’t know who I am, and I want to know who I am, what happened to me,” Natalia said in a trailer for the upcoming documentary.

“But I’m hearing all this stuff that never actually happened from Kristine and Michael.”

Michael Barnett and his then-wife, Kristine Barnett, adopted in April 2010 someone they believed to be a 6-year-old girl named Natalia. Just roughly six months later, the parents allegedly began witnessing violent behavior and called into question whether Natalia was really a child or an adult woman who was scamming the family.

The alleged behavior included hoarding knives in her room, urinating on her adoptive siblings, and even allegedly trying to kill her adoptive mom with Pledge cleaning solution, according to Michael Barnett.

In 2012, the Barnetts petitioned a court to legally change Natalia’s birth year from 2003 to 1989, which was granted and changed her age from 8 years old to 22. The family then moved to Canada with their biological children, where their oldest son was slated to start college.

The parents of the alleged girl landed in hot water in 2013 when it was discovered Natalia was living alone in an apartment in Lafayette, Indiana, leading to an investigation and their arrests. In 2019, the couple, who have since divorced, were charged with neglect of a dependent.

Michael Barnett was ultimately found not guilty by a jury in 2022, and Kristine Barnett had all of her charges dismissed in March of this year. Both parents had previously claimed the charges were bogus, saying Natalia was an adult and not a neglected child.

Following the documentary, Natalia’s new adoptive family set up a GoFundMe page for the woman to raise funds so she could visit Israel.

“By now, many of you have seen or at least heard of the series ‘The Curious Case of Natalia Grace.’ You have seen home videos of a frightened young Natalia taken by The Barnetts and heard about how she was left to fend for herself at 8 years old,” said the GoFundMe page, which was started by Natalia’s adoptive mom Cynthia Mans.

“We are The Mans and Natalia Grace is our daughter. We believe God put her in our life and she is an amazing daughter and a loving sister,” the page continued, explaining they started the page to raise funds for a wheelchair-accessible van for the planned visit to Jerusalem.

  10. “National Archives Quietly Releases Trove of JFK Assassination Records”
    Tony Gray July 2, 2023
ENTIRE ARTICLE @ResistTheMainstream: “The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) released a substantial collection of JFK assassination records in alignment with a President Joe Biden memorandum. The records, pursuant to the JFK Act of 1992, have been made available for public download on the NARA website.
    https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk
Since April 15, 2023, a considerable number of 2,672 documents have been added to the existing collection as per the presidential directive. The agencies involved in this process meticulously reviewed redactions in the records, consequently revealing an array of previously undisclosed information.

“At the National Archives, we believe in the importance of government transparency and the accessibility of information,” said U.S. archivist Colleen Shogan in a statement. “I have every confidence that the NDC’s implementation of these plans offers a clear path forward for public transparency and the timely release of additional information as circumstances warrant,” Shogan added.

The newly released information meets the president’s June 30 deadline and includes thousands of previously redacted documents. To maintain consistent transparency and regular dissemination of information, involved agencies drafted and delivered transparency plans to NARA’s National Declassification Center (NDC). The NDC implemented these plans, keeping the prime objective of promoting government transparency and facilitating the timely disclosure of additional information at the forefront.

The JFK Act of 1992, enacted after President John F. Kennedy’s assassination on November 22, 1963, mandated consolidation of all assassination-related material within the National Archives and Records Administration. The collection is substantial, totaling over five million pages of records that include photographs, motion pictures, sound recordings and artifacts, collectively occupying approximately 2,000 cubic feet.

The majority of these records have been rendered accessible for research purposes, contributing to a broad knowledge base surrounding the Kennedy assassination. This new release of records may provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding JFK’s assassination, a topic that continues to be of significant interest to historians, researchers and the general public alike.

This move reaffirms the commitment of the current administration and NARA towards openness and transparency, allowing for a better understanding of one of the most influential events in American history.”

Unsurprisingly, McCarthy had no problem using President Trump for his endorsement in January 2023 when McCarthy ran for Speaker of the House. Yet, even with President Trump’s endorsement, McCarthy struggled to receive support for his bid for Speaker of the House, which took 15 separate votes on the floor of the House to make him Speaker since so many Republican representatives, including many who have endorsed President Trump for re-election in 2024, adamantly opposed McCarthy’s Speakership.

EXCLUSIVE: Kevin McCarthy’s Son Works For Anti-Trump Big Tech Investor Set To Host A Shadow DeSantis Fundraiser – April 10
    https://lauraloomer.substack.com/p/exclusive-kevin-mccarthys-son-works
If you have been reading my Substack, you know that McCarthy’s son Connor McCarthy works for an anti-Trump Big Tech investor named Joe Lonsdale, who has endorsed Ron DeSantis, and recently held fundraiser(s) for DeSantis’s Presidential campaign.

Kevin McCarthy won’t endorse President Trump for re-election, but I have learned that he is using his son, and his own donors by proxy as a way to help Ron DeSantis’s Presidential campaign against President Trump.

Last week, DeSantis traveled to California where he held a fundraiser on June 19 at the Harris Ranch in Coalinga. The private fundraiser, which was closed to the media and not open to the public, was hosted by Coalinga rancher John Harris and Fresno developer Richard F. Spencer. Roughly 60 donors gathered to listen to DeSantis speak about his Presidential campaign, and each donor was required to pay $3,300 to attend the fundraiser.

John Harris and Richard Spencer are considered to be two of the biggest GOP donors in California. According to FEC records, Harris has donated to Nikki Haley’s Presidential campaign, as well as her PAC “Team Stand for America” this year, and he has been a longstanding donor to Kevin McCarthy.

In 2019, Gov. Gavin Newsom attended a fundraiser that was hosted in Coalinga at Harris Ranch, which is owned by Harris. While in attendance, Harris and Newsom posed for a photo together and discussed funding the proposed Temperance Flat and Sites reservoirs.”

“Supreme Court wipes out affirmative action; what the decision really means–How colleges will work-around it”
    JON RAPPOPORT
    JUL 3, 2023

“The Court says: no more affirmative action in school admissions. So…many colleges will perform a work-around. They’ll adopt new standards they claim add up to “merit.” They’ll apply these absurd standards. And there will be new law suits.

“Your Honor, my client, David Po, was turned down at Harvard. He posted a nearly perfect SAT score of 1524. His grade point average was 4.0. He was the captain of the soccer team. He was the president of the chess club and the history club.”

“And meanwhile, Your Honor, a black student admitted by Harvard had a grade point average of 2.3. He didn’t take the SATs. He was accepted on the basis of his ‘life experience,’ which he described in an essay he submitted to Harvard. But he didn’t write the essay. He dictated it. He spoke it. He recorded it…”

The black student, entering Harvard, will be unable to keep up in his class work. He doesn’t have the skills. Unless…Harvard lowers its performance requirements in the classroom. Which it does. With several strategies. Grading on a curve. Ignoring the student’s errors altogether. Arbitrarily giving the student a passing grade. Awarding him credit for more “life experience.” He joined an activist group. He attended rallies and protests. He supported a college janitors’ strike.

New standards of merit. With an added strong dose of critical race theory to explain why the student can’t measure up. The measurements are all wrong. They’re racist. Whatever the student CAN do is automatically made into a standard of excellence.

What I’m describing here has always been, in one way or another, the approach of affirmative action. You can talk all you want to about denied opportunity, poverty, prejudice, no father in the home, and so on, but that “context” doesn’t work when the student arrives in the classroom. If course-study demands academic performance, the unprepared student is going to fail.

“Well, you scored a 23 out of 100 on the test, but we know why. So we’re going to give you an 80.”
    That’s the only solution.”

some of these affirmative action students to do not belong in difficult study programs. does that mean they shouldn’t have opportunities? no, it means their opportunities ought to reflect their determination and abilities.

  15. “Ask Who Benefits: Notes From The Edge Of The Narrative Matrix”
    CAITLIN JOHNSTONE
    JUL 3, 2023

It is the Republican Party’s job to expand the US military, rob and oppress the working class, serve US plutocrats, facilitate ecocidal capitalism, and foment division among the electorate. It is the Democratic Party’s job to do these same things while blaming it on Republicans.

One of the weirdest things to happen last year was the entire western political/media class deciding to start pretending Ukrainian Nazis aren’t Nazis based on literally nothing whatsoever, just because it’s convenient, and a substantial portion of the population playing along. This is still happening, by the way.

Part of the problem is that westerners live in a pre-revolutionary society that we’ve been duped into believing is a post-revolutionary society. We self-righteously look down at our noses at other nations and pity their lack of freedom and political sophistication, when in actuality we’re all deeply enslaved and the global south is the only place where anything real has been happening politically.

The Wall Street Journal has a new article out about how US war veterans are no longer recommending their kids join the military, which is cutting the war machine off from an important recruitment “pipeline” because the children of military families make up the majority of military recruits.

I’ve seen a lot of right wingers sharing the article with comments to the effect of “hurr hurr, that’s what you get for having a woke military,” but they plainly didn’t read the article, because it lists many factual and entirely valid reasons why military families have stopped steering this new generation toward military careers, and none of them have anything to do with “wokeness”. Here are some excerpts:

Any time you are presented with a narrative about how things are in a way that asks you to believe it, question who would benefit from that belief, whether it’s a large-scale narrative about the world, or a small-scale narrative about yourself and your own life.”

  16. yup, bag of cocaine was found on wh property…
    FTA
Since the reports coming from the White House don’t seem to indicate a lot of nasal spray was found, well before prepared into a solution, the substance comes in its solid form, and under those circumstances, cocaine hydrochloride is the technical name for… cocaine. In less formal settings, this may be called “a bag of coke.”

    1. I’d love to see drug tests on EVERY SINGLE WH EMPLOYEE!!! And shall we talk about welfare and food stamps????? Yes, I think MJ should be legalized for recreational purposes when you grow it yourself. Having said that, I knew from the gitgo that if I took a job that did drug testing, I simply couldn’t partake – period – so I didn’t…not a difficult choice to make when you have a daughter to support.

        1. Exactly! It is an unnecessary vulnerability! But they ALSO need to apply that to prescription drugs, much of which is even MORE dangerous than illegal drugs!!!

  18. My internet went out just as I went to post this so, when I finally got it back, it posted here instead of the reply it was intended to be. If they can’t function on illegal drugs…they probably aren’t capable of full function on many meds, either! So it isn’t a matter of illegal vs. legal – it is a matter of competence and ability to do your job w/o exposing your employer – The People – to unforeseen consequences of your choices. I know enough about bi-polar that I do NOT want to work with anyone who either is diagnosed with it OR on meds for it. Sorry but no – they are dangerous, medicated or not!

    1. well most regular employers don’t have access to gov’t secrets. anyone in the government might.
I remember when i graduated college, i got a phone call one afternoon from the Dept of Agriculture, asking if i would recommend a guy I had gone to college with. he was an Armenian but his parents had been in the country all their lives. they wanted to know all about Paul. he was a little shy–but not in our clique. he was quit witted and fun to be with. there were 3 of us–Jan (a seminary student who was a guy), Paul and me.
we would meet one Friday night a month at the Mule–the campus pizza/beer joint and have pizza, laugh and do cryptic crossword puzzles.
I told the interviewer Paul was great student, played the guitar and had a wonderful understanding of economics.
he asked me if he did drugs? drink to excess? what “our” relationship was?
when i told him I was an engaged mother of one, and that Paul was an honest, upstanding young man, he thanked me and hung up.
Paul did get the job–we’ve lost touch since i moved, but I may have to look him up

  19. “Photographer Captures Christ The Redeemer Holding The Moon”
    JUN 09, 2023 PESALA BANDARA

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “A photographer captured a stunning image of Christ the Redeemer “holding” the Moon after three years of attempting to get the shot. Brazilian photographer Leonardo Sens finally took the photo on he had long dreamed of on June 4 from Icaraí Beach in the Rio de Janeiro municipality of Niterói, which is around seven miles away from where 98-ft high Christ the Redeemer is located.

The remarkable photo shows the colossal statue of Jesus Christ at the summit of Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with the Moon in its palms.

Sens has been studying the Moon’s position in the hope of capturing the rare moment the celestial object aligns with Christ the Redeemer. Sens tells PetaPixel that he used the “helping hand of mobile apps that indicate the position of the Moon” above the statue. And in 2021, the photographer purchased a 600mm lens so that the Moon and the Sun will appear closer in his images.

“Despite knowing the exact moment the Moon would be positioned, I wasn’t able to frame the photo in my first attempt as the Moon goes down quite fast. And it’s complicated to get the frame right so I wasn’t able to get the shot when I first tried in 2021,” Sens tells PetaPixel. “In 2022, it was cloudy and there was a haze so it wasn’t possible to take the photo then either.”

However, Sens made another attempt at his coveted photograph in June this year. On Saturday, he arrived at Icaraí Beach after checking the Moon’s position in the apps. But he failed to capture the shot when the Moon was blocked out by clouds. But, Sens returned to the beach the day after and tried once again to get his long-awaited photograph.

“On Sunday, I checked the Moon’s position on the apps and I arrived to the beach about 20 minutes early to take the shot,” the photographer says. “And soon after I ran home to switch my computer to check the photos and then I really saw that I had done it!”

Sens’s photo has received almost 700,000 likes on Instagram — with social media fans calling the shot “perfect.”

    1. “The full moon in July 2023, known as the Buck Moon, will occur on July 3. It will rise at 7:39 a.m. Eastern Time and will be visible for three days. This full moon is also a supermoon, appearing larger and more vibrant due to its close proximity to Earth during perigee…

Enjoy the show! And read the signs…”
