The abandoned Alvira bunkers are remnants of the American WWII war effort, as well as reminders of what lengths the federal government will go to to seize private property for “the greater good”.

Brief History of Alvira

In the case of Alvira (originally founded as Wisetown in 1825), the federal government used the courts and eminent domain to force residents to accept buyouts of their homes, so that their entire town could be leveled and turned into a TNT manufacturing plant and storage facility known as the Pennsylvania Ordnance Works.

But just 11 months after the Pennsylvania Ordnance Works started manufacturing TNT, it was closed down due to a lack of need for the TNT being made and stored there.

And while the residents had been promised that they could buy back their land after the war, that promise was broken.

The federal government instead kept the land and gradually divvied it up, giving 4,000 acres to the Federal Bureau of Prisons to construct Allenwood Prison, and giving 3,000 acres to the state of Pennsylvania (including the land where the bunkers sit) which became State Game Lands 252.

Today, the 149 dome-shaped concrete bunkers that once housed explosives for the US military are gradually being reclaimed by nature.

Designed to explode upwards in case of accidental detonation, and spaced far enough apart to prevent a chain-reaction spreading to other bunkers, these concrete igloos, nearly 80 years old now, have fared remarkably well on the inside.

The official PA Game Commission map of SGL 252 shows the location of all the bunkers – all that is required of modern explorers is to do the bushwhacking!

Where exactly are the abandoned Alvira bunkers located?

The Alvira bunkers are located in the Union County portion of State Game Lands 252, approximately 7 miles south of Williamsport.

Can I navigate to the Alvira bunkers by GPS?

Yes – use GPS coordinates 41.13618, -76.95924 to navigate to the first of several parking lots along Alvira Road.

Are any of the Alvira bunkers roadside and easy to reach?

Yes – in fact you can literally park right next to several of the bunkers along Alvira Road.

How many of the bunkers are you able to enter?

On a recent visit (Summer 2020) I was able to find and enter several dozenwithin a 2-hour time period.
Please note – I have never tried to find all the bunkers, or get an exact count of how many are still accessible.

Are any of the bunkers still locked?

Yes, but again I have not attempted to determine an exact count of how many are locked/unlocked.

Are you able to see inside the bunkers without a flashlight?

The interiors of most of the unlocked bunkers are dimly lit by a small hole in the center of the roofs, but I would strongly recommend taking a flashlight along.

Are most of the bunkers full of trash and graffiti?

No – although none of the bunkers I’ve personally entered are in pristine condition, the further away you get from Alvira Road, the less vandalized the bunkers generally become.

What else is there to see at Alvira?

Several cemeteries still stand on Game Lands 252 (see map above), including many Civil War-era graves.

Final Thoughts on the Alvira Bunkers

The abandoned Alvira munitions bunkers are an interesting architectural relic of WWII-era America.

They are also a cautionary tale for what can happen to private individuals when the government decides it wants your property.

Or in the case of Alvira, wants your ENTIRE TOWN.

And what was once a thriving little hamlet in Union County, followed by a TNT factory and munitions depot, is now slowly being reabsorbed by nature and the elements.

    wow I really appreciate sleeping in my own bed!!
    temps are about 30* but no stars, so going to be a cloudy day I suspect.

    1. Morning, Pat! Colder here at 20 but we’re headed into spring, regardless. Skies are clear so far – I may make a trip to Norfolk later….if I get up the energy….progress report: several areas on my gums – where the teeth were still seated – are still swollen but getting less-sore by the day. The tingling in my nose has lessened a lot but it’s still there and my nose is still drip, drip, dripping. However, the floods I used to get of the odd discharge haven’t occurred the last couple of days. No change, tho, on my taste/smell problem. And I keep losing weight….I’m scared to get on the scale, tbh.

            1. Yep, as well as whole “trilogy” health seeds – flax, chia, hemp – cinnamon and turmeric, frozen fruit, yogurt and 1/2&1/2. But I’m out of, or almost, out of most of it so I have to go today. Out of creamer, too so I’ve been drinking hot tea.

  10. joe’s signature being forged? far out theory, but I do see what the article is claiming. (The article gives many examples of joe and jill’s signatures.) his always had a straight line down–separate–from the rest of the “B”. jill’s never did. now HIS “B” resembles hers a little too much.

    However, if whatever stamped signature is being submitted to the Federal Register isn’t authentic, does that not also make the documents themselves unauthentic? This is just another twist in an unraveling tale about the figurehead who is a puppet president.

    Biden’s wife seems to be the most logical person to try to fabricate her husband’s signature. It’s Jill’s job to cover for the cognitive inefficiencies of her husband. She also could well be covering for another telltale sign of cognitive decline.

    One of the first things to change as our faculties begin to wane is our signature. Biden’s has done more than change. It resembles little of what is on record from only a year ago. Many Americans have strong suspicions about the cognitive stability of our current president.

    Some are convinced Joe Biden is failing and failing fast. If there is any truth to these forged signatures, the question isn’t so much if someone is forging them, but why they have to be.

The former makes me want to rip them out of the government school system, again, and make them memorize the Bible. But the latter requires that I allow them to engage in the system so I can teach them to navigate it. Schooling is the first interaction our kids have with the world. If they cannot learn to effectively navigate a classroom led by an oppositional teacher, where will they learn to navigate oppositional workplaces, oppositional community groups, or governing institutions?

    Knowing that one of the core tenets of high speed culture change is to capture the educational institutions, it’s not a flippant decision to send them to government schools. In fact, that decision requires that I be more engaged with their education, critically challenging what they’re learning, and debating the substance of what they’re being taught. If there is one parenting tactic that I 100% stand by, it’s making my kids defend their ideas from a young age. Teach them to debate early in their lives, and teach them HOW to think rather than WHAT to think.

    Yesterday, my oldest opened a college acceptance letter. He will be studying Finance in the fall. No, I am not concerned about my brilliant son attending a liberal university because he is a man after God’s heart and a critical thinker. I might be a little concerned for his professors. Teaching kids critical thinking over blind compliance is important. But that’s parenting. In government schools, the kids are learning compliance and told what to think – settled sciences like evolution and climate hysteria – and that curriculum is coming from the regime.

    As we discussed last week, the Sustainable Development Goals have been shaped by the globalists at the UN and WEF, and then refined and operationalized by the strategic advisors and their “thought leadership.” They are then rolled out as a massive change effort into all industries and sectors in every geography around the world. Including education. From K-12 to post secondary to continuing and professional education, the regime has executed on high velocity culture change Principle 21 – you have to take over the schools. And they have done it.

    Remember Adam Kinzinger talking about January 6 truth: “Nobody that believes any of that garbage Tucker was spewing, none of their kids will ever believe that garbage.” He seems very confident.”

  46. whoa…I just saw a picture of REALPOTUS getting out of his vehicle for the WACO rally and some said it was a doctored pic. he looks fit and healthy–looks like he lost weight. one lady said you can tell it’s fake cuz his face is tanned and his hands are pink-ish. i don’t play golf, but i know a LOT of people wear golfing gloves…?? (the pic was posted by a news source–not MAGA for sure)
    and as for the weight, one tweeted he’s doing keto and lost about 50 pounds?
    I know one person who tweeted about having dinner with the President– said he had whatever (let’s say a hamburger) but only the meat and didn’t eat the bun. that sounds like keto to me

    “The 17 former branches of Silicon Valley Bridge Bank, National Association, will open as First–Citizens Bank & Trust Company on Monday, March 27, 2023,” the FDIC said in a statement. “Customers of Silicon Valley Bridge Bank, National Association, should continue to use their current branch until they receive notice from First–Citizens Bank & Trust Company that systems conversions have been completed to allow full–service banking at all of its other branch locations,” the statement continued.

    Depositors of the Santa Clara, California-located bank will automatically become depositors of First–Citizens Bank & Trust Company, according to the statement, and all deposits will be assumed and insured by First–Citizens Bank & Trust Company, up to the insurance limit. The FDIC said: “As of March 10, 2023, Silicon Valley Bridge Bank, National Association, had approximately $167 billion in total assets and about $119 billion in total deposits. Today’s transaction included the purchase of about $72 billion of Silicon Valley Bridge Bank, National Association’s assets at a discount of $16.5 billion.”

    In addition, approximately $90 billion in securities and other assets will remain in the receivership for disposition by the FDIC. According to the statement, the FDIC and First–Citizens Bank & Trust Company entered into a “loss–share transaction” on all commercial loans it purchased from Silicon Valley Bank (SVB).

    In layman’s terms, First Citizens Bank is doing the equivalent of taking over payments. The losses accrued during the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank as well as future losses when depositors pull out of their new bank will go through the legal but extremely shady transition process of book-jumping. Assets and liabilities will be bounced around different balance sheets to dilute the reported losses, but at the end of the day it will all come back to taxpayers. All of it.”
