15 St. Patrick’s Day Facts

St. Patrick’s Day always falls on the 17th of March.

The first St. Patrick’s Day parade took place in America—not in Ireland.

The New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade is the world’s oldest civilian parade and the largest in the United States.

Chicago began its annual tradition of turning the Chicago River green on St. Patrick’s Day in 1962.

In Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day had been viewed mostly as a religious observance, and up until the 1960s, they even had laws that forbid bars from being open that day.

It wasn’t until 1798 (the year of the Irish Rebellion) that the color green became officially associated with St. Patrick’s Day. Before then, another color was originally associated with St. Patrick (see the trivia below!).

St. Patrick’s Day switched over from a strictly holy day for Catholics to an official Irish public holiday in 1903.

Although St. Patrick’s Day falls within the period of Lent—a time when the Catholic Church prohibits eating meat, the ban is lifted on this specific day of celebration.

The annual shamrock ceremony in the White House started in 1952.

Each year, 5.5 million people visit New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Before St. Patrick became a missionary, he had been kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave.

St. Patrick is said to have been buried in the town of Downpatrick, County Down, in Northern Ireland.

There are two autobiographical writings from St. Patrick himself, including Confessio and Letter to Coroticus.

Traditionally, Catholic families go to church in the morning on St. Patrick’s Day, and partake in a meal that includes cabbage and Irish bacon.

Dublin’s first official celebration of St. Patrick’s Day did not occur until 1931.

    1. Good morning! I slid on down to do my venting – had to get that off my chest! By the end of the day yesterday, we had bright sunshine and the snow was already gone from the road. We’ll have a few cold days then the temp starts back up again. Spring is on the way.

  2. Morning! Started waking up around 4:30, went back to bed twice….once I did finally get up, turn on the TV to Fox and what do I fricking see? Doocy interviewing the 2 Nigerian brothers who set up the Jussie scam. Excuse me??? Why are you giving them ANY attention whatsoever??!!?? He asks them if they thought it was wrong in the beginning – nope! But after-the-fact, they realized the ramifications. Oh, and one of them actually had the gall to put on a hat made like a MAGA hat and said, “We’re of Nigerian background so Make Africa Great Again!” And I’m screaming – THEN WHY ARE YOU IN THE US AND NOT IN NIGERIA/AFRICA???? GET OUT, MF’ERS!!!! Not a good way to start the day, I’m tellin’ ya!!!!

As for St. Patrick’s Day…..”Although St. Patrick’s Day falls within the period of Lent—a time when the Catholic Church prohibits eating meat, the ban is lifted on this specific day of celebration.” Um, what is the purpose of the ban in the first place? What BS is this??!!?? #1: Why prohibit the eating of meat at all?!?! #2: Then why is it ok to lift it for a “day of celebration?” Can you see why I have a problem with “religion?”

It was the hypocrisy of it all that struck me – it’s ok to pull this crap when it’s punking conservatives but not after it caused Jussie so much trouble? Situational ethics which means NO ethics!

  3. “The Federal Reserve Announces Its First Big Step Towards a Digital Dollar — “A digital dollar would be the ultimate instrument of economic and social control. It is therefore the dream of central planners and the nemesis of freedom-loving people in America.”

    Kyle Becker

EXCERPT: “The Federal Reserve Bank of the United States has announced that it is launching an instant payment transfer service called “FedNow Service,” which has features of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and some analysts believe is the first big step towards a “digital dollar.”

On Wednesday, within hours of our reporting that the Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank failures could spur renewed calls for the U.S. to implement a CBDC, the Federal Reserve announced that the U.S. is rolling out the FedNow instant payment transfer service in July.

“The Federal Reserve announced that the FedNow Service will start operating in July and provided details on preparations for launch,” the announcement read.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the forthcoming FedNow launch, which will enable every participating financial institution, the smallest to the largest and from all corners of the country, to offer a modern instant payment solution,” said Ken Montgomery, first vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and FedNow program executive. “With the launch drawing near, we urge financial institutions and their industry partners to move full steam ahead with preparations to join the FedNow Service.”

The Fed added that the FedNow Service “will launch with a robust set of core clearing and settlement functionality and value-added features. More features and enhancements will be added in future releases to continue supporting safety, resiliency and innovation in the industry as the FedNow network expands in the coming years.”

“With the FedNow Service, the Federal Reserve is creating a leading-edge payments system that is resilient, adaptive, and accessible,” said Tom Barkin, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and FedNow Program executive sponsor. “The launch reflects an important milestone in the journey to help financial institutions serve customer needs for instant payments to better support nearly every aspect of our economy.”

The Federal Reserve says that it developed the FedNow Service “to facilitate nationwide reach of instant payment services by financial institutions — regardless of size or geographic location — around the clock, every day of the year.”

  6. “Ohio River not being tested for dioxin, head of river commission says”

EXCERPT: “The head of the commission that oversees the Ohio River said last week that the river water is not being tested for dioxin in the wake of the Feb. 3 train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. Richard Harrison, executive director and chief engineer of ORSANCO, the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission, said the last dioxin testing they did on the river was several years ago.

They’re not monitoring it now, he said, because the Environmental Protection Agency has not indicated that there are dangerous levels of dioxin on the site of the derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. “We have not done anything special with this and we’re just following EPA’s lead on this,” Harrison said in a phone interview with Crossroads Report last week. “I think the initial thought here is it’s [dioxin] going to be something that does not have a significant impact. I mean, that’s what they’re saying on site. So, you know, beyond that, we’ll just follow EPA’s lead on that.”

(Richard Harrison, executive director of ORSANCO, testifies before a U.S. Senate committee on March 9. (screenshot)
The EPA announced on March 2 that in response to the concerns of people in East Palestine, it was requiring the railroad, Norfolk Southern, to test for dioxin on site. In the same press release, the agency also said it was sampling for indicator chemicals and that test results “suggest a low probability for release of dioxin from this incident.”

But environmental groups are calling for the EPA to do the dioxin testing itself and they dispute the agency’s finding of a low probability that there are dioxins present. In a March 13 letter to the EPA, they wrote:”

  8. “The first recorded parade honoring the Catholic feast day of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is held in what is now St. Augustine, Florida. Records show that a St. Patrick’s Day parade was held on March 17, 1601 in a Spanish colony under the direction of the colony’s Irish vicar, Ricardo Artur. More than a century later, homesick Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched in Boston in 1737 and in New York City on March 1762.”

  9. What’s that old saying…? “You get what you deserve.” Well, I’ve got a cat that is even more stubborn and bull-headed than I am….oh, hey…can cats have aspergers? Or is it just catching???

EVERY SINGLE FRICKING DAY….a few hours after I get up, he comes over to sit between me and the patio doors. When I get up and walk past him to get more coffee….”Meow!” mournfully….when I walk back, another mournful “Meow!” looking up at me and slipping past to walk in front of me, looking back, to the door from the utility room to the hall. Stop, look back to make sure I’m following, rush to keep in front of me down the hallway…bear in mind, this is ALL in an attempt to get me to come back there and stand and watch him eat his food….YES, I’M SERIOUS!

And EVERY SINGLE TIME (I already know he has plenty of food, mind you) I follow him down the hallway, he steps into the bedroom, I shut the door and walk back to my computer. He stays in there for a couple of hours or so when I open the door and he saunters back out as if nothing whatsoever happened. You see what I have to put up with??? Huh??? Huh??? Pardon me if I strangle the bastid!!!!

  10. “This is an older story but still pretty friggin’ funny by my standards. A statue of a giant shoe has been unveiled in Saddam Hussein’s hometown in honour of the Iraqi journalist who threw his footwear at the former US president George Bush. The statue also features a poem honouring Muntazer al-Zaidi, the Iraqi journalist who shot to international fame last month when he hurled his shoes at Bush during a farewell press conference. The shoes narrowly missed the then president and Zaidi was quickly bundled to the ground by security staff. The public artwork went on display in Tikrit, 90 miles north-west of Baghdad.

The Baghdad-based artist, Laith al-Amari, said his fiberglass-and-copper work was a homage to the pride of the Iraqi people. Zaidi, who has since been dubbed by some as the Baghdad Clogger, was charged with assaulting a foreign leader. He never went to trial and subsequently ran for President a few years later, but lost handily. Zaidi has not been seen or heard from since. “

And things can get a little wild in St. Petersburg. 39 year old Karleen Biswanger was living with her 68 year old boyfriend at the Viridian Apartments 62+ senior community in Downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. That’s a bit of an age gap. I’m guessing Karleen needed a place to stay and the 68 year old man enjoyed her companionship.

According to the arrest report from Pinellas County, Karleen had been living with the man for roughly a year and the two had been engaging in consensual sexual intercourse. Not sure why that’s in the police report, apparently they thought it was important.

From the report: “The defendant threw an avocado at the victim’s face causing injury to his right eye.” She also threw a metal hanging rod at him which struck him in the arm. A neighbor witnessed some of the avocado attack. Karleen was arrested for battery on a person 65 years of age or older. There’s more coverage here:”

  13. “9 Signs Your Newborn Baby Might Be Trans”
    WORLDVIEWS · Mar 16, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

“Well, the day has finally arrived: your cute little parasitical clump of cells has popped out of one of the birthing persons in your relationship, and it’s now suddenly a real human being. But what gender is it? It’s hard to say. It could even be – fingers crossed – trans!

How do you tell if your adorable little genderless bundle of joy might be trans, catapulting you into a new level of fame and attention among your friend group? Here are 9 signs to look out for:

    1. Crying – Biologists believe if babies cry, it might be because they are really trying to scream, “I’m the wrong gender! Transition me now!” Listen to the science.

    2. Spitting up – This is a sign of your baby rejecting and literally BARFING OUT their biological sex.

    3. Pooping – this is a sign of your baby rejecting and literally POOPING OUT their biological sex.

    4. Does not put up any kind of logical argument when you point out all the reasons they should be trans – Their silence is consent to immediately change their gender. They’d speak up if they objected!

    5. Soothed by Dylan Mulvaney videos – Your trans baby is being comforted by trans joy.

    6. Screams at Jordan Peterson videos – Your baby is being triggered by facts and logic, the two mortal enemies of transgenderism.

    7. Drinks milk – Try to stay with us here: there are four letters in milk, and milk is white. There are also four letters in trans, and white is one of the colors in the trans flag. Better put baby in his car seat for a trip to the gender clinic!

    8. Does not sleep well – How could a baby sleep knowing they are in the wrong body?

    9. You really, really want them to be trans – And finally, this is the most important sign of all. Any baby can be trans if you, the parent, really want them to be.

There you have it! What are some other signs your baby could be trans? Let us know in the comments!”

  14. Californians Growing Concerned As Animals Seen Going Two By Two Toward Large Wooden Boat
    SCRIPTURE · Mar 16, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

“LOS ANGELES, CA — California residents reported growing concern over the fate of their state after a wide variety of animals were seen going in pairs toward a large wooden boat.

An eccentric old bearded Jewish man has reportedly been building the boat* since the early 1900s, with Hollywood actors and California residents mocking him for years. But they’re not mocking him so much anymore now that the state has received close to 40 days and 40 nights of rain in a row.

Anxiety over the situation increased significantly this past week as through the rain, fog, and snow, Californians witnessed pairs of animals going toward the boat, with some even traveling in packs of seven. Several furries even tried to join them to find shelter from the storm aboard the boat but were turned away by the crotchety old boat builder.

“Well, this can’t be good,” said local California resident Staci Harper. “This old guy is building a boat and some animals are getting on board. And I’m pretty sure I saw a prophet sitting under a fig tree watching our city from a safe distance.”

    “This could be bad.”

At publishing time, sources had confirmed that a rainbow appeared in the sky, assuring Californians that God would never flood them as He clearly supports the LGBTQ+ movement.

  15. “Hillary Clinton Posts Condolences For Tucker Carlson’s Suicide This Coming Tuesday”
    MEDIA · Mar 15, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

“CHAPPAQUA, NY — Hillary Clinton, who famously shattered the glass ceiling for all of womankind, took to Twitter Wednesday morning with a touching tweet for Fox News on-air personality Tucker Carlson in which she expressed her condolences for his upcoming suicide.

“Bill and I were saddened to hear of the passing of @TuckerCarlson Tuesday. We may not have agreed politically, but he was certainly a person. Our warmest condolences to his loved ones, if he had any. #suicideisnottheanswer,” she tweeted.

The viral tweet trended for several hours until people started to point out that Hillary Clinton could not possibly know of Tucker’s mental state and must be threatening to have the media darling murdered. The tweet then mysteriously disappeared, along with two Twitter employees who are now presumed dead.

“Weird,” said authorities. “Coincidences, am I right?”

Tucker Carlson has been under tremendous fire in recent weeks due to his unapologetic airing of January 6 footage which appears to undermine the leftist narrative. But experts believe Clinton has no stake in the January 6 narrative and just hates Tucker Carlson.

At publishing time, Tucker Carlson gave the camera a confused but concerned look as he read the tweet live on his program Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

  16. Raccoon Dog Blamed for COVID Pandemic Identified, Arrested
Protests innocence: “I’m just a patsy!” before succumbing to an entirely natural sudden death

    Kevin Barrett

Dissociated Press: “A raccoon dog fingered by a team of biowarfare scientists as the likely source of the COVID-19 pandemic was apprehended this morning in his cage at the Bronx zoo. Pawcuffed and hauled off in a police cruiser, the animal barked out: “I’m just a patsy!”

After an extensive interrogation during which no recordings were made nor any notes taken, the raccoon dog, whose full name is Rocky Raccoon Oswald, was being transferred from one jail to another when he somehow hanged himself while being shot by a reputed mob hitman. The coroner, backed by the SPCA, CIA, FBI, and LSD, has already ruled “death by natural causes.”

Though a few disgruntled conspiracy theorists have been tweeting “Rocky didn’t hang himself while being shot,” experts, fact checkers, and AI algorithms unanimously agree that the COVID origins question has now been definitively solved and that “Rocky acted alone.”

Bats, pangolins, and germ warfare scientists reacted jubilantly to the news that they were no longer under suspicion. Reached by batphone in the depths of his batcave, Batty Battowitz of the Anti-Bat-Defamation League joyfully flapped his leathery wings and emitted hypersonic squeaks of pure joy, while Paddy Pangolin of the Proud Pangolin Party called a celebratory press conference to announce that pangolin-blamers everywhere should now hang their heads in shame, and that pangolins, definitively cleared of mass murder charges, could go back to doing whatever it is that pangolins do.

Meanwhile, in Fort Detrick, Maryland, the Society for the Advancement of Germ Warfare Science issued a statement deploring the very existence of raccoon dogs and promising to do oodles of gain-of-function research in hopes of stopping the next naturally-occurring pandemic, on condition that taxpayers fork over a few more hundreds of billions of dollars.”

  17. “DOJ Says COVID Testing Company Scammed Gov’t Out Of $83 Million, Faked COVID Tests”
By Paul Aubert, March 15, 2023
ENTIRE ARTICLE @ TrendingPolitics: “The co-owner of a startup COVID testing company is believed to have scammed the U.S. government out of as much as $83 million in federal funding, the Department of Justice said in an indictment.

Zishan Alvi, a 44-year-old who co-owned Laboratory Elite in Chicago, received government funding for the company throughout Feb. 2021 and Feb. 2022. The indictment alleges Alvi and others at the company created a plan to cheat the government into giving them reimbursements for COVID tests that were ultimately never performed or used.

Under the Health Resources and Services Administration, federal funding was administered to provide COVID-19 tests for individuals without insurance. Alvi’s company would allegedly scam the service by either never performing these COVID tests, performing tests in a way that was not accurate, or charging customers additional costs for tests, despite them being federally funded.

The indictment calls on Alvi to give up five different luxury vehicles he bought during the pandemic, as well as investments he made. “The indictment seeks forfeiture from the defendant of at least $6.8 million in alleged ill-gotten gains, in addition to five luxury vehicles and funds from other trade and investment accounts.”

The Chicagoan would scam the government by pressuring employees to give customers fraudulent results without performing COVID tests, the indictment claims. “In order to conceal the fact that tests were not performed, ALVI instructed Laboratory A employees to release purported negative COVID-19 test results to individuals, when ALVI knew that no tests were performed.”

He would also rake in more profit by ordering that fewer materials be used to process the COVID tests. “To reduce costs and increase Laboratory A’s profits, ALVI directed Laboratory A employees to alter Laboratory A’s PCR testing method by using less of the materials necessary to process the PCR test, including the reagents, knowing that this made the test results unreliable.”

He is currently facing ten individual counts of wire fraud and one count of theft of government funds. Each wire fraud count equates to up to 20 years in prison. The theft of government funds could amount to a 10-year sentence.

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul ridiculed Alvi over the allegations. “It is absolutely reprehensible that the defendant would use a public health crisis to allegedly defraud taxpayers and further put public health at risk by providing fraudulent COVID-19 test results,” he wrote in a statement.”

  18. BREAKING: Alec Baldwin Gets Another Lucky Break In Grueling Court Battle Over ‘Rust’ Shooting
By Mark Steffen March 15, 2023

ENTIRE ARTICLE @ TrendingPolitics: “Actor Alec Baldwin has dodged a bullet in his legal efforts to avoid prison time for the accidental shooting death of a movie set staffer.

Special prosecutor Andrea Reeb from the Santa Fe District Attorney’s office has voluntarily stepped down from the case to hold Baldwin accountable for the death of Halyna Hutchins after Baldwin pointed and allegedly fired a loaded gun at the cinematographer after being told the gun did not hold live rounds.

Baldwin’s attorney in February filed a motion to dismiss Reeb relating her position in the New Mexico state legislature, arguing that it would be unconstitutional for a lawmaker to serve in another branch of state government.

Reeb on Tuesday released a statement to Deadline appearing to acknowledge the impropriety of wearing multiple hats in a high-profile case that is testing the limits for prosecuting Hollywood stars under equal justice before the law:

“After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down as special prosecutor in the Rust case. My priority in this case — and in every case I’ve prosecuted in my 25-year career — has been justice for the victim. However, it has become clear that the best way I can ensure justice is served in this case is to step down so that the prosecution can focus on the evidence and the facts, which clearly show a complete disregard for basic safety protocols led to the death of Halyna Hutchins. I will not allow questions about my serving as a legislator and prosecutor to cloud the real issue at hand,” stated Reeb.

Two other members of the movie set staff are facing charges resulting from the death of Hutchins. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter while Assistant Director Dave Hall has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge.

Baldwin, who sat for a primetime interview just weeks after the incident, maintained he did not pull the trigger which fired the shot killing Hutchins. The FBI disagreed in its assessment though has been unable to explain how live ammunition made its way into the gun’s chamber.”

  19. BREAKING: House Democrat Caught Running $30 Million Offshore Nonprofit in Tax Haven Islands
By Mark Steffen March 15, 2023

ENTIRE ARTICLE @ Trending Politics: “Newly disclosed financial documents show that a House Democrat leading the charge against income inequality has stashed over $30 million in a tax-free international haven to support his nonprofit.

The Richard W. Goldman Foundation, which for a decade has provided charitable efforts on behalf of the disadvantaged, reported holding $32.2 million in investments harbored within the Cayman Islands, a renowned haven for wealthy individuals and corporations seeking to relieve tax burdens. The organization was founded in 2012 by Democratic Congressman Daniel Goldman of New York.

Documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission list Goldman as financial director for the Goldman Foundation, giving him control over where and how its assets are managed. Disclosures to House Ethics by the New York lawmaker show he has maintained a position on the foundation’s board of advisors through July 2022.

Rep. Goldman just last week issued a statement supporting President Joe Biden’s plan to raise taxes on corporations and wealthy Americans as part of his annual budget. “At a time of record wealth inequality, the wealthiest among us must help to provide more access for others to pursue the American dream that they have benefited so much from,” Goldman stated. “I’m proud to cosponsor the Billionaire Minimum Income Tax as a long-overdue piece of legislation that will level the playing field, incentivize investment in the economy, and expand opportunities for underserved communities.”

Tax havens in the Cayman Islands became a focal point of Democrats’ attacks against Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in 2012. Elizabeth Warren in her first run for US Senate decried a system “rigged” by tax loopholes and offered her support for small-business owners who “bust their tails every day” and don’t stash “their money in the Cayman Islands to avoid paying their fair share in taxes.”

Rep. Goldman is an heir to the Levi Strauss company with a net worth estimated between $64 million and $253 million.”

FTA “Hunter Biden filed a lawsuit Thursday against the computer repairman, John Paul Mac Isaac, who turned over files on a laptop Hunter left at his shop to the New York Post ahead of the 2020 presidential election. Hunter Biden “had more than a reasonable expectation of privacy that any data that he created or maintained,” the lawsuit filed with a Delaware federal court on Thursday stated. The president’s son was under the impression it “would not be accessed, copied, disseminated, or posted on the Internet for others to use against him or his family or for the public to view.”

The president’s son is requesting a jury trial and “compensatory damages” from Mac Isaac.”

So Hunter finally admits it’s his laptop and not Russian disinformation! I’m waiting for an apology from all those 51 top national security experts and the corrupt leftist propaganda msm who screamed it was Russian disinformation!!! My guess is his lawsuit in Federal Court will be given to an obama Judge who will side with Hunter. It’s been reported there was child pornography on the laptop so I assume the FBI will now arrest Hunter for possessing it right????

    1. I believe he signed a service document that held a printed notice that if it was abandoned, the computer, it’s components and ALL OF IT’S CONTENTS became the property of the store owner. This is on YOU, Methhead!

  21. Stew Peters: “Is 5G actually a greater threat than the bioweapon itself? Dr. Reiner Fuellmich is here to report his latest findings on the dangers of 5G technology. 5G microwave radiation is a far greater threat than the so-called “vaccine” because it effects everyone. Dr. Barrie Trower is described as a “real life James Bond” and is an expert on the dangers of 5G. Microwave radiation has been a weapon since the 1930s. We’ve gotten used to using microwave ovens but the radiation is a weapon and can be used to cause almost any symptoms of any disease.

It can also be used for geoengineering. The elites and globalists are using 5G technology to create a “kill switch” that can genocide entire populations. Dead crops and livestock could be a result of 5G radiation. In 2022, Federal Judge Frederic Block stopped Verizon from putting up cellular antennas in small Connecticut and Vermont towns clarifying that local governments can stop their construction. State and local governments need to ban 5G towers.”

  22. “Unconditional Surrender” — How Stalin’s policy, adopted by Roosevelt in 1943, guides the war in Ukraine.

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “For most of European history, wars were fought with the understanding that if they became too destructive and costly, they could be concluded with a negotiated settlement. Once it became clear that one side was gaining the upper hand, the other side could sue for peace instead of dragging it out and getting a lot more people killed and property destroyed.

After Napoleon was defeated in 1815, the Congress of Vienna declared him an outlaw and stated that no power would ever negotiate with him again. This was an early example of the doctrine of “Unconditional Surrender.”

During the American Civil War, Union General Grant adopted the policy of “Unconditional Surrender” in dealing with Confederate officers who asked for terms. Though I’ve never found time to investigate it, I have heard that all of the European general staffs marveled at the iron will of Generals Grant and Sherman to suffer stupendous losses in order to annihilate the enemy instead of negotiating with him.

The policy of Unconditional Surrender reached its apotheosis at the Casablanca Conference in 1943, when Stalin persuaded Roosevelt and Churchill to adopt and announce it as official policy in the war against Germany.

Stalin did this because he was afraid the British and Americans would do a separate peace deal with German military officers who didn’t like Hitler and wanted to get rid of him. Because the Russians were doing most of the fighting, Roosevelt and Churchill agreed to Stalin’s demand.

The trouble with this Unconditional Surrender policy was that it was not only applied to the Nazi regime, but equally to German military officers who would have gladly gotten rid of Hitler. Had the Americans and British supported German resistance officers instead of repeatedly spurning them, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg and his co-conspirators might have succeeded in getting rid of Hitler and the Nazis in July of 1944.

Numerous historians have noted that by far the most destructive phase of the war was between Stauffenberg’s failed assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 and and May 7, 1945. This last year of the war also coincided with the most murderous phase of the Holocaust in the extermination camps of Poland.

Ever since the Casablanca Conference, the U.S. political class has insisted that there can NEVER be any negotiated settlement with a declared enemy of the United States. Thus, it seems to me, Putin should have realized that the Americans would NOT negotiate with him after he commenced military operations in Ukraine, but would encourage the Ukrainians to fight (with American arms) bis zur letzten Patrone—”till the last cartridge”—as Nazi fanatics described how they would fight the Russians and Americans, especially after the policy of Unconditional Surrender was announced.

Though the U.S. political class and many Americans are enamored with the idea of the Ukrainians fighting (with American arms) till the last cartridge, it’s hard for me to imagine a constructive outcome of this policy.”
