What Shall We Bake Today?

This being February, I thought we’d bake a Red Velvet Cake.

Cake:

1 ½ cups sugar

½ cup butter

2 eggs

2 ounces red food coloring

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups cake flour

1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

1 ½ teaspoons baking soda

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease two 9-inch round pans.

In a large bowl, beat the sugar and shortening together with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine red food coloring and cocoa to make a paste; add to creamed mixture.

Mix buttermilk, salt, and 1 teaspoon vanilla together in a small bowl. To the creamed mixture, add flour, alternating with buttermilk mixture, mixing just until incorporated. Mix vinegar and baking soda together; gently fold into cake batter and pour into prepared pans.

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Run a table knife around the edges to loosen. Invert carefully onto a serving plate or cooling rack. Let cool, about 30 minutes.

Frost as desired.

    1. Hey! It’s been windy here, too, altho not too bad. Much colder this morning – only 11 at the moment. Looking at the 10 day forecast, it’s looking like we will get an early spring, which is NOT a good thing for us. When that happens, there is always a good chance we’ll get slammed with sudden super cold weather, putting everyone behind in their planting.

This Crazy Pomerantz guy, Hillary Clinton’s lawyer, who left his Democrat only Law Firm to join (get this!) the Manhattan D.A.’s Office in order to prosecute “Trump,” while at the same time writing a book about his exploits, including everything that happened in a secret Grand Jury. This guy is deranged and should be charged approximately. Nothing like this has ever happened before. As prosecutor he actually wrote a book in the midst of an ongoing case. It’s stone cold prosecutorial misconduct!

“Pomerantz recounts in his book exploring whether prosecutors could argue that Stormy “Horseface” Danials attempt to receive money for her silence was actually extortion. This would have, ironically, made Trump the victim of a crime.” Vice.com. Based on his book, I am certainly a victim of Prosecutorial Misconduct! p.s. I never had an affair, not even close, with Horseface!

Senators say ‘very disturbing possibility’ US manufacturing may have helped build Chinese surveillance balloon

    Excerpt:

Following a classified briefing Thursday with officials from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) the Department of Defense (DOD) and the State Department, Senators Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska., said that the question of whether American companies helped build the Chinese surveillance balloon was raised in the briefing, and the officials didn’t answer definitively.

“American companies shouldn’t be helping build spy satellites that are used against their own citizens,” Sullivan told reporters at the Capitol after the briefing. “Maybe there’s nothing to be said about that,” he said, “but somebody asked about it, and nobody, nobody in that briefing said, ‘oh, it’s not a problem.’”

  6. Kea posted a bunch of links last night about gender reassignment surgery for children. I wanted to see if there was one in NE. There is one “gender-care” clinic in Omaha – I’m sure there are others – but none that appear to do sex re-assignment surgeries, thank goodness! I’m sooooo worried about P!

EXCERPT: “Click on a pin on the map below to see more information about some of these clinics. This map was originally generated based on an article in Pediatric Annals, as well as information from the clinics, and is meant to be a starting point for youth and their parents. Please note that this map only includes comprehensive multidisciplinary programs. There may be other smaller specialized practices that are inclusive of or focus on transgender and gender-expansive children and youth that are not included in this map, so we encourage families to look further into other care options in their area. Please note that only a limited amount of information about the services provided is listed on this map and/or the websites of the clinics. We encourage you to reach out directly to the clinic to learn more about their services.”

HRC would like to thank Jennifer Leininger and Sam Hsieh of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for their permission to use descriptions of many of these facilities which were originally published in Pediatric Annals (June 2014, Volume 43,Issue 6: 238-244).

Note: HRC has not evaluated every program listed, but we will actively investigate any claims of negative treatment. Please send us feedback if you find any of these facilities less than affirming and welcoming.”

    1. i’ve told this story before…when i was 9 i didn’t want to be a girl. i developed earlier than the other girls–they hated me, the boys were jerks. but then a girl came to our school who was exactly in the same place i was. we became good friends–could talk to each other about things and soon enough the other girls caught up…the boys were still jerks. LOL
i think that’s COMMON but it’s also TEMPORARY. the changes they are being manipulated into are PERMANENT!!!

  7. “Geraldo Rivera Gets Dragged Online For Bizarre Anti-Trump Tweet”
By Noah Rosenberger, February 1, 2023
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Geraldo Rivera, Fox News Host and contributor is back to his antics attacking Trump and this time people are coming out of the woodwork to respond…

This instance of attacking Trump is unique in the fact that Geraldo attempts to play both sides of the aisle. His tweet becomes a rollercoaster of opinions that many people had to jump at. “Donald Trump was a grossly underrated and unfairly besieged president,” Geraldo says in the first sentence of his tweet attempting to soften the blow of what he will say in the next few sentences. Despite sounding pro-Trump at the beginning of his tweet, Geraldo then unleashes in his latter sentences saying, “I will not vote for him in 2024-not because of what he did in office-but what he did after he lost the election.”

“In 2024 the danger to the Republic will not be if he wins. It will be if he loses,” Geraldo said in his tweet which you can see below:

Well this outlandishly hot-take put Geraldo right back into the hot water that he so-often finds himself in and people let him have it. Checkout what some people said in response on Twitter below:

  8. This just infuriates me no end!!!! But they allow bail for BLM and Antifa rioters!!!! Hell, the Ho donated money for it!!!

“GoFundMe removed all campaigns set up to help an Arizona rancher held on a $1 million bond following the elderly man’s arrest for the murder of a migrant shot to death on his property.

Fox News Digital confirmed that GoFundMe removed multiple fundraisers set up to help 73-year-old George Alan Kelly.

“GoFundMe’s Terms of Service explicitly prohibit campaigns that raise money to cover the legal defense of anyone formally charged with an alleged violent crime. Consistent with this long-standing policy, any fundraising campaigns for the legal defense of someone charged with murder are removed from our platform,” a spokesperson for GoFundMe said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Donors who contributed to the fundraising campaigns for George Alan Kelly’s legal expenses have been fully refunded.”

  9. “Estate of Reno Man Who Died After Saying He Had COVID Alleges Hydroxychloroquine Caused His Death: Lawsuit Ignores Emergency Waivers — This case should be interesting given all the waivers to liability available to physicians and hospitals due to the COVID-19 Emergency.”

    James Lyons-Weiler

EXCERPT: “After hundreds of thousands of millions of cases of medical negligence have been ignored, and deaths due to treatments to make room for more patients and to protect hospital staff have led to no arrests or even forfeiture of medical licenses, a physician who provided a patient with a script to one of the safest prescription medicines on the planet is being targeted after her patient died from COVID-19.

Dr. Medina Culver, an osteopath in Las Vegas, and America’s Frontline Doctors have been targeted by lawyers representing the estate of a man who sought a hydroxychloroquine prescription. Per the complaint, filed in Washoe County, the man, Jeremy Parker, died after developing ‘cold-like’ symptoms and telling a loved one that he thought he had COVID-19.

The coroner, based in Washoe County, listed the man’s cause of death as “sudden in the setting of the therapeutic use of hydroxychloroquine.”

This makes no sense at all since the man clearly died from COVID-19. The industry standard level of evidence needed to determine the causality of death if it’s a pathogen for which a vaccine exists is next to nothing.

The angle being attempted in the lawsuit is the allegation that Dr. Culver and AFD were negligent due to Dr. Culver’s alleged failure to examine the patient; the coroner is presuming that the patient’s heart condition (if it was evident during the examination) would have contraindicated the prescription of hydroxychloroquine. He is alleging that the hydroxychloroquine, not COVID-19, and not the heart condition, killed Mr. Parker.

It is going to be rather difficult for the case to proceed, however. The attorneys for the deceased’s estate appear to not be aware that the federal government relaxed the standards of care and made the use of telemedicine much more flexible. They also indemnified physicians and hospitals for liability.”

  10. seven in ultra maggot’s admin are there illegally claims GAO
    FTA
Seven different officials in President Joe Biden’s administration are in office illegally due to time limits, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

On Wednesday, the GAO found that seven presidential appointees serving in “acting” positions in their respective offices have run out of time on how long they can serve without a full Senate confirmation. GAO has issued five separate reports on the issue.

There are numerous positions within the executive branch that the president must appoint, and the U.S. Senate must confirm. These roles are referred to as PAS positions. Oftentimes, presidents will select individuals to temporarily fill these PAS positions while seeking Senate confirmations to fill out the roles on a more long-term basis.

The Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998 regulates when and how a president can choose “acting” officers to temporarily fill these PAS positions. The law generally stipulates that appointees may only serve in an acting position for about 210 days, starting from the date the vacancy occurs.

The law states that if the Senate rejects a first nomination to permanently fill a PAS position or if the president withdraws the nomination, an “acting” officer may fill the position for up to 210 more days.

  11. NARA isn’t transparent with giving up documents…
    FTA
Now the National Archives is accused of double standards for demanding records from the past six administrations while failing to provide its own.

‘ These documents could shed light on conversations between NARA and the White House during a highly politically fraught period leading up to the unprecedented raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence to obtain presidential records and the discovery of classified material at several locations associated with President Joe Biden’, PPT said in reference to their lawsuit.

‘Apparently, it’s too much to ask that the agency requesting everyone else turn over their records live by its own rules when its documents are sought,’ Michael Chamberlain, Director of Protect the Public’s Trust said. ‘

‘At a time when the public could use some clarity and transparency on highly charged episodes, this appears to par for the course for an administration proclaiming itself the most transparent in history.

‘Yet one more reason why the American public’s trust in its government continues to plummet.’

  12. nothing says transparent like a half redacted document…
    FTA
After several executive agencies in the Biden administration were sued for refusing to comply with Freedom of Information Act requests from conservative advocacy group Citizens United over the White House’s attempt to federalize elections, the Department of the Interior’s (DOI) Bureau of Indian Affairs finally turned over its first batch of requested documents. There’s one problem: More than half of the 54-page document is completely redacted.

“The Biden administration is the least transparent in history, and these absurd redactions are just the latest example. What are they trying to hide from the American people?” Citizens United President David Bossie told The Federalist.

As The Federalist previously reported, in March 2021, President Joe Biden issued an executive order directing hundreds of federal agencies to engage in a federal takeover of election administration. It also permitted federal agencies to work with “nonpartisan” third-party entities to get voters registered, yet left-wing dark money group Demos publicly admitted it’s worked with federal agencies, “in close partnership with the ACLU and other allies,” to advance the aims of Biden’s directive.

Such an order set off alarm bells among Republicans and good government groups, reminiscent of the widespread takeover of government election offices by Democratic activists and donors in the blue counties of key swing states during the 2020 presidential election. Through their infiltration of state and local offices, Democrats were able to conduct partisan get-out-the-vote operations and swing the election in then-candidate Biden’s favor. This order is a taxpayer-funded version of that effort, turning federal agencies — including those that dole out federal benefits — into voter registration hubs and partisan get-out-the-vote centers.

Citizens United wanted to find out more about it, which is why last June, it filed FOIA requests with the DOI and State Department seeking email and text messages that mentioned both the executive order and the Hatch Act, a law that prohibits executive branch employees from engaging in election activities. When the agencies failed to comply, Citizens United sued. On Jan. 31, DOI sent its first round of documents per Citizens United’s request.

But the 54-page PDF sent to Citizens United is mostly redacted, save for logistical emails between White House staff and agency department heads. The plan and implementation scheme for the “Promoting Access to Voting” executive order itself are completely redacted.

    https://thefederalist.com/2023/02/09/if-bidens-federal-elections-takeover-is-free-and-fair-why-are-the-plans-completely-redacted/
