Last month, I included a recipe GA/FL posted in an open about turtle cookies.  I have since made the recipe and it has become a FAVORITE!!! It deserves its own open!  The recipe was not clear on how big to make the cookie logs, and I was unsure if the cookies would expand in the oven.  I made 4 smaller logs and got a ton of cookies!  I also experimented with cutting the slices thinner and thicker to see if we would like them softer or crispier—we liked them EITHER WAY! This is just a delicious tasting cookie!  Thank you GA/FL for bringing it!!!

Mama Smith’s Pecan Refrigerator Cookies

Beat together:

1-1/2 cups butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup white sugar

2 eggs

Whisk together:

4 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cream of tartar

1/2 tsp salt

Mix sugar/egg and flour mixtures together.

Add 2 cups chopped pecans.

Roll into logs, wrap with plastic wrap or waxed paper, refrigerate for a couple of hours or store in freezer until needed.

Slice and bake at 350* until lightly browned—mine took 7-10 minutes.

    1. Morning….I’m grumpy this morning and not looking forward to going out later. I’m meeting Mom to give her the parafin bath for sore/arthritic hands. Her hands have been hurting her a lot and she is seeing a hand doctor next week. But in the meantime, this will help a little. I haven’t used it in years and don’t need it so I’ve boxed that up with the 5- 2 lb boxes of parafin wax for her to use. It really makes a difference.

      ….a little worried about LM. He was here as usual in the morning and until noon or thereabouts yesterday, chasing birds, but he’s gone and hasn’t been back since. I kept looking until I went to sleep and this morning, the level of the food dish hasn’t changed nor the water. I think even Jake was looking for him. When I uncovered the patio door, he sat there for a while looking out the door for him. Oh, well, I imagine he’ll turn up – he’s done this before.

I have this electric one – melt the wax and then dip your hands in it – you have to do it gradually because it is really hot – once you adjust to the heat you submerge your hand in the wax. There are plastic bags included with the wax that you can then put over your hand to hold in the heat altho I never used those. It feels wonderful.

Now they have been heard and seen all over America, together with the actual act of “stuffing the ballot boxes” with far more votes than needed for me, and Senator Perdue, to win GEORGIA. At first she thought that they had been caught, got VERY nervous, and wanted to “spill the beans” on everyone. Then the SOS, GBI, FBI, calmed her down, helped CLEAN her social media, took her away (for two months!). SHE THEN CHANGED HER STORY!

      Don’t forget that Ruby Freeman, her daughter, and all others were rushed out of the voter count room in Georgia because of a big “WATER MAIN BREAK.” Like everything else, it was FAKE, there was no water main break. Ruby’s group (only) soon came back into the room, with no security or vote watchers, grabbed the thousands and thousands of ballots hidden under a cloth skirted table, and began putting them into (STUFFING) the machines, all caught on tape, and so OBVIOUSLY WRONG. They can’t explain!

              The only thing I’m seeing right now is that the government and their media apparatchiks are in full truth suppression mode when it comes to the truth of Hamlin’s affliction.

              It’s a high profile national story and not a peep about the vax being the cause from State Media.

    Since when did money not have to be paid back? Who insisted that the more dollars the federal government printed, the more prosperity would follow? When did America embrace zero interest? Why do we believe $30 trillion in debt is no big deal?

    When did clean-burning, cheap, and abundant natural gas become the equivalent of dirty coal? How did prized natural gas that had granted America’s wishes of energy self-sufficiency, reduced pollution, and inexpensive electricity become almost overnight a pariah fuel whose extraction was a war against nature? Which lawmakers, which laws, and which votes of the people declared natural gas development and pipelines near criminal?

    Was it not against federal law to swarm the homes of Supreme Court justices, to picket and to intimidate their households in efforts to affect their rulings? How then with impunity did bullies surround the homes of Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, John Roberts, and Clarence Thomas – furious over a court decision on abortion? How could these mobs so easily throng our justices’ homes, with placards declaring “Off with their d–s”?

    Since when did Americans create a government Ministry of Truth? And on whose orders did the FBI contract private news organizations to censor stories it did not like and writers whom it feared?

    How did we wake up one morning to new customs of impeaching a president over a phone call? Of the speaker of the House tearing up the State of the Union address on national television? Of barring congressional members from serving on their assigned congressional committees?

    When did we assume the FBI had the right to subvert the campaign of a candidate it disliked? Was it legal suddenly for one presidential candidate to hire a foreign ex-spy to subvert the campaign of her rival?
    Was some state or federal law passed that allowed biological males to compete in female sports? Did Congress enact such a law? Did the Supreme Court guarantee that biological male students could shower in gym locker rooms with biological women? Were women ever asked to redefine the very sports they had championed?

    When did the government pass a law depriving Americans of their freedom during a pandemic? In America can health officials simply cancel rental contracts or declare loan payments in suspension? How could it become illegal for mom-and-pop stores to sell flowers or shoes during quarantine but not so for Walmart or Target?

    Since when did the people decide that 70 percent of voters would not cast their ballots on Election Day? Was this revolutionary change the subject of a national debate, a heated congressional session, or the votes of dozens of state legislatures?

    What happened to Election Night returns? Did the fact that Americans created more electronic ballots and computerized tallies make it take so much longer to tabulate the votes?

    When did the nation abruptly decide that theft is not a crime, and assault is not a felony? How can thieves walk out with bags of stolen goods, without the wrath of angry shoppers, much less fear of the law?
    Was there ever a national debate about the terrifying flight from Afghanistan? Who planned it and why?

    What happened to the once-trusted FBI? Why almost overnight did its directors decide to mislead Congress, to deceive judges with concocted tales from fake dossiers and with doctored writs? Did Congress pass a law that our federal leaders in the FBI or CIA could lie with impunity under oath?

    Who redefined our military and with whose consent? Who proclaimed that our chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff could call his Chinese Communist counterpart to warn him that America’s president was supposedly unstable? Was it always true that retired generals routinely labeled their commander-in-chief as a near Nazi, a Mussolini, an adherent of the tools of Auschwitz?

    Were Americans ever asked whether their universities could discriminate against their sons and daughters based on their race? How did it become physically dangerous to speak the truth on campus? Whose idea was it to reboot racial segregation and bias as “theme houses,” “safe spaces,” and “diversity”? How did that happen in America?

    How did a virus cancel the Constitution? Did the lockdowns rob us of our sanity? Or was it the woke hysteria that ignited our collective madness?

    We are beginning to wake up from a nightmare of a country we no longer recognize, and from a coup, we never knew.

    Who is Virginia Ross? She had one job. She was supposed to make sure the Pinal County general election count was done properly in Arizona. Last week, we learned there was a substantial discrepancy that wasn’t reported until AFTER the results were certified. Now, we know WHY they didn’t get reported.

    It wasn’t just for the sake of stealing another election. It was so someone could “earn” a big bonus. According to Kari Lake:

    According to VoteBeat:

    Pinal County’s outgoing elections director collected a $25,000 bonus for running a smooth election despite reporting final results with significant inaccuracies, including around 500 uncounted votes in the neck-and-neck attorney general race.

    Virginia Ross, the former county recorder brought in to oversee the election on a short-term contract, either did not catch the mistakes or failed to disclose them before the results were certified in November, according to county officials.

    The inaccuracies were only revealed publicly last week as part of the results of the statewide recount, and officials attributed the problems mostly to human error during ballot counting on Election Day. This week the new elections director indicated that Ross may not have taken steps after the election to ensure the results were accurate. Regardless, she collected the bonus and retired.

    Ross was brought on specifically to fix the county’s elections after a disastrous primary in which county officials made mistakes they later said were easily preventable, such as not ordering enough ballots for polling places. Ross was paid a towering $175,000 for four months of work, with the $25,000 bonus contingent on certain conditions.

    County Supervisor Kevin Cavanaugh said at a supervisors meeting Wednesday that he would like to consider whether it’s possible to rescind Ross’s bonus. A few residents who spoke at the meeting demanded it.

    “If errors were known to the board we would have not likely canvassed,” Cavanaugh told Votebeat prior to the meeting, referring to the supervisors’ Nov. 21 vote to certify the election results. “If we had not canvassed, Virginia Ross would not have received her $25,000 bonus.”

    $25,000 is certainly enough money to make someone cover-up mistakes. Had the mistakes been known, it appears that the bonus would have been withheld. Unfortunately, nobody can seem to reach Virginia Ross. According to the article:

    Votebeat was unable to seek comment from Ross, who has since moved out of state and has no publicly listed contact information or identifiable social media accounts. A county spokesperson said he did not have a way to immediately reach her.

    The more we learn about the 2022 elections in Arizona, the more questions pop up. Unfortunately, the judiciary seems bent on keeping the fraudulent results in play. How can any Arizonan have faith in such a corrupt election process?

    According to the sourcelink, people BLEW UP at this hair oil chick in her comment section, accusing her of “stealing” from black women as the above captioned tweet does. It got to the point where she had to turn OFF comments, because people were out of control.

    Why were some black women angry? Because, according to some of the comments, when white people “discover” a product that has been or is used by black people, and then white people bring popularity to said product, then it’s a Bad Racist Thing.

    One person suggested that when that happens, the makers of the product change up the ingredients to suit white women more, and then it no longer works for black people. This was an Actual Comment.

    But here’s the reality. In this case, the hair oil used by the chick in the video was from a black woman-owned business called Mielle. The product is made with Rosemary Mint Oil. The video prompted a ton of people (white AND black, I’m assuming) to patronize Mielle and buy out the product. I’m sure the business owner was pleased by the sales uptick.

    In other words, white people supported a black business, contributing to its bottom line and likely providing more opportunities for black stakeholders in the process, and black people are all, “OMG RACIST B*TCHES.” This is how stupid everything is.

    Incidentally, Rose Mint Oil isn’t a product only sold by that particular establishment. It’s not some secret sauce only found in the Mielle owner’s backyard. You can get it on Amazon FFS, under all kinds of different brand names.

    It should also be pointed out that plenty of white people have used hair oil forever. This isn’t a black-only thing.

    The owner of Mielle has promised that no formula changes are taking place, so essentially people can calm the f*ck down about this hair oil being changed to suit white people. (My words, not hers).

    I just re-read this entire post and cannot believe this is even a discussion. The amount of melanin in your skin shouldn’t dictate what products you can or can’t buy. If you think it should, you’re racist. The end.

    The Biden administration just gave the okay for the U.S. Postal Service to ignore state abortion bans and send abortion drugs through the mail in all 50 states.

    The Hill reports the U.S. Department of Justice issued the legal opinion to the U.S. Postal Service and independent mail services Tuesday in response to several recent Biden administration decisions that allow abortion drugs to be sold through the mail or at a pharmacy. Previously, the abortion drug mifepristone could only be dispensed by abortion facilities, medical offices and hospitals under the supervision of a licensed medical professional.

    In the opinion, the Biden administration lawyers asserted that sending abortion drugs through the mail is ok as long as the sender does not know if they will be used illegally, according to the report.

    “There are manifold ways in which recipients in every state may use these drugs, including to produce an abortion, without violating state law,” Office of Legal Counsel chief Christopher Schroeder wrote. “Therefore, the mere mailing of such drugs to a particular jurisdiction is an insufficient basis for concluding that the sender intends them to be used unlawfully.”

    Schroeder argued that sending abortion drugs to pro-life states is not illegal because every state allows abortions in cases when the mother’s life is at risk and some allow abortions in cases of rape, incest and other limited circumstances.

    Even if a state prohibits a pregnant person from ingesting mifepristone or misoprostol for the purpose of inducing an abortion, that person is free to travel to another state where it is not prohibited. Someone sending a woman these drugs is unlikely to know where she will use them, Schroeder wrote, so it does not violate the law.

    The legal opinion also applies to independent mail services such as UPS and FedEx, according to the report.

    Pro-life leaders quickly criticized the Biden administration’s actions as dangerous and political, saying more women’s and babies’ lives will be put at risk.

    “Ideologues in this administration are putting abortion above the health and safety of women by seeking to expand access to the abortion pill however possible. It’s completely indefensible,” Chelsey Youman, national legislative advisor with Human Coalition Action, responded Wednesday.

    Others accused the Biden administration of ignoring growing safety concerns as a favor to the billion-dollar abortion industry, which heavily backed the president’s campaign.

    “The Biden administration has once again proved that it values abortion industry profits over women’s safety and unborn children’s lives,” SBA Pro-Life America president Marjorie Dannenfelser said. “Abortion activists want to turn every post office and pharmacy into an abortion business … even while studies show emergency rooms are being flooded with women suffering from serious, life-threatening complications caused by abortion drugs.”

    Studies indicate the risks of the abortion drug are more common than what abortion activists often claim, with as many as one in 17 women requiring hospital treatment. A recent study by the Charlotte Lozier Institute found that the rate of abortion-related emergency room visits by women taking the abortion drug increased more than 500 percent between 2002 and 2015.

    Along with millions of unborn babies’ deaths, the FDA has linked mifepristone to at least 26 women’s deaths and 4,000 serious complications between 2000 and 2018. However, under President Barack Obama, the FDA stopped requiring that non-fatal complications from mifepristone be reported. So the numbers almost certainly are much higher.

    Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, said Biden’s actions are both reckless and anti-science.

    “Women will suffer the most from this reckless decision,” Mancini said. “Access to chemical abortion without proper medical oversight runs contrary to science and is not in the best interest of women’s health.”

    First approved under the Clinton administration, mifepristone is used to abort unborn babies up to about 10 weeks of pregnancy – although some abortionists use it later. It works by blocking the hormone progesterone and basically starving the unborn baby to death. Typically, abortion groups also prescribe a second drug, misoprostol, to induce labor and expel the baby’s body.

    In England, which began allowing mail-order abortion drugs two years ago, new investigations show a huge increase in ambulance calls and reports of coercion and abuse.     Border Patrol will likely clear their facilities and release illegal immigrants ahead of Biden’s visit, the two agents, who are stationed along the southern border, told the DCNF.

    “That’s what they always do. Anytime some brass from DC comes, the tents get emptied, everyone gets released/processed expeditiously to give the illusion that it’s under control,” one of the agents said.

    If Biden indeed tours the facilities, they will “undoubtedly” be scrubbed of any indications of chaos, Judd added.

  41. Sliding down before I read back….what a cluster fuck!!! Sheesh! I tried 3 times to call Mom to let her know I was on my way, left 2 messages. Got to WM, didn’t see her car anywhere, did my shopping and sent her a text that I was there – nothing. Got out to my truck (they had regular tea lights this time) and drove around the parking lot again looking for her car – she always parks in a handicapped spot – saw a car that looked like hers, and decided to just put the stuff in her car.

    I stopped next to the car and just as I was stopping, M called me, worried I had no power. So I’m telling her what’s going on and she’s telling me about Gaetz standing up on the floor and nominating Donald J. Trump for Speaker – whoo-hoo! – and someone pulls up behind my truck. Got off the phone, waved at her “just a minute,” went and looked in the car – not her car.

    Well, shit! As you can imagine, I’m cussing a blue streak “ANSWER YOUR F’ING PHONE, MOM!!!!” So I ran out to visit my local pharmacist, returned to Norfolk and drove thru the WM parking lot again – nothing. I decided to go into town and get some cigs while I was there, then drove thru the Hobby Lobby parking lot and the WM parking lot again. Nothing!

    At that point, I’d had it – I left one more message that I was going home. An hour after I got home, she calls – “I know – I fucked up – I forgot my phone.” LOL – so a compromise has been reached. I will mail her the wax spa with 1 box of wax – that will last quite a while. Earlier, she had told me one of my bro’s had sent her a $100 gift card so she wanted to buy a bigger air fryer. Then she would give me her small air fryer. Deal! She said she would mail the air fryer (she got a REALLY good deal at Target – normally around $300, she got it for $109) but I told her not to worry about it since I probably wouldn’t be using it any time soon anyway. I just wanted to mail the wax spa because I want her to get that quickly, since it will help her hand pain so much. Sigh…..so a trip to the PO will be on the schedule for tomorrow.

    On top of all of that? What would be THE best way to start out that trip? How about backing out of your garage and busting your driver’s side mirror on the side of the garage door??? Yep – I did that! SMDH -I’m normally careful about that – this garage door was not made for the big F150’s – but I was more worried about the snow and whether my 4WH would work.

    Ah, well….such is life. I looked at it when I got back and I think I can put it back together with some black electrical tape. The casing isn’t totally shattered and the mirror is only cracked on the far left side, the wires can be reconnected. I’ll jimmy rig something, watch me! What a relief to be back home!!! Still no sign of LM, no more food has been eaten, no footprints in the snow. Refilled the feeders, too, and put out the last of the corn for the squirrels. Why buy corn – they raid the feeders anyway???

I did use my 4WD when I left since my road is fairly slick (and yes, my brakes locked up and I think there might be a problem with the tranny) but I didn’t when I came back and did fine. Highways are all clear, parking lots weren’t bad, and the main roads in Norfolk were clear. I did slide a little bit going up the hill to Glen’s but I just took my foot off the accelerator and it straightened out ok. Much better overall than I was expecting. I didn’t need gas but I did notice gas in Pierce has gone up to $2.99 vs. $2.59.
