Short Girls Rock!

That’s right…Short Girl Appreciation Day falls on the first day of winter…the shortest day of the year…coincidence?  Sigh…I don’t think so!

Before anyone tries to disparage short girls or people in general, let me note that your hosts here are both SHORT women. We never ask about height, but it does come out during conversations…so if you’re short too…welcome!  Be proud!  If you’re tall…can you reach that box on that top shelf for me?

THIS IS FILLY!

  1. LOVE this post, Miss Pat!

Love the Shakespeare quote art – gonna save it and send to Sally Q – it fits her perfectly!

    As a senior, I’m a stretch at 5’2.5″ – used to be 5’3.5″ when I was a young thing.

      1. LOL – !

I think Sally’s Dad is better – I haven’t seen him since day before yesterday – because I made a day-long trip back home to do errands, pick up stuff, etc. Got in just in time to give Sally meds and get her ready for the night.
I’m pretty sure he’s not ready to resume heavy duty Sally care yet.
While I was home, I made the Party Mix aka Chex Mix Sally loves. I make it with mostly Old Bay, Worcestershire and corn oil instead of lots of garlic and butter. Lots of whole grain fiber and nuts to offset the carbs. We use it as a treat and a needed carb when her blood sugar is low in the evening.

It’s in the seafood and spice sections of most grocery stores down here. Used to boil shrimp and crabs and in seafood dishes (I know you don’t like those) that’s probably why you don’t know about it.

But – rubbed on a chicken before you bake it – it’s awesome!

How to make Chex Mix –
            – boxes of rice, wheat, corn chex cereal
            – box of cheerios
            – pretzels
            – nuts raw or canned salted

Pour cereal, etc. into large roaster pans (I have some really big ones I use every year that hold a lot! They take up my whole double oven – 2 per oven)
            oil and/or butter melted
dashes of worcestershire sauce whisk into oil/butter – drizzle over the cereals.
Seasoning – celery, onion or garlic salt is traditional – but I use Old Bay – because we like it better and it doesn’t give us garlic dragon breath.

I mix the cereal with the worcestershire and oil mix – and sprinkle with old bay and salt to taste as I bake at 250-275 – Stir the mix every 15-20 minutes or so until it is crispy – 1 hour or less.
Makes a lot – so have some big old air tight containers – like those big plastic jars that pretzels or caramel corn come in. Walmart sells the big plastic jars. I have some restaurant supply heavy duty large containers I use and I save big containers just for this purpose.

              1. Morning, Pat! Hi GA! Old Bay is a pre-requisite for steamed spiced shrimp! Yummy! I also sprinkle it on the Subway seafood salad sub. None of the Subways around here had ever heard of it but the one’s in VA were familiar with it, of course.

Love this open! So many of the memes are dead on-target! I’ve shrunk about 1/2 inch. As for climbing on the shelves? Yep, did that yesterday! LOL – I often have to look around to find someone tall enough to ask them to reach something for me. The guys especially enjoy doing it for you!

As for the Shakespeare quote…..it immediately brought this to mind:

Red Pollard: “Though he be but little, he is fierce.”
Red Pollard: “That’s Shakespeare, boys, Shakespeare.”

Files CONCLUSIVELY reveal that the FBI totally discredited damming factual information from Hunter Biden’s Laptop From Hell to top Twitter executives prior to the 2020 Presidential Election. “Do not use this,” they said, “it is Russian Disinformation.” Also spread the word to other Big Tech & Media Companies. It was not a request, but a demand. Whether they believed it or not, they had an excuse not to use it against Biden, who would have lost millions of votes and the RIGGED & STOLEN Election!

    1. Now that the J6 Committee released its tainted report recommending charges against Trump, I stand today to expose the truth.

This committee has always had one thing in common—the utter contempt for President Trump. The American people know this committee has produced a report filled and lies and misinformation.

    2. As a member of Congress, I have placed hundreds of hours of research into the events of J6 Committee and was the last member of Congress to leave the house floor. As a Texas Sheriff and 30-year law enforcement officer, I can say without hesitation that J6th was a law enforcement failure, all at the hands of the leadership of the Capital Police and Nancy Pelosi. They had the intelligence days and weeks prior and didn’t share it with the 1840 personnel of the USCP.

    3. I spoke to MG General Walker, Commanding General of the DC National Guard, and he agreed that if the National Guard had been deployed on our nation’s Capital on January 4th, as intelligence would suggest, J6th would not have happened.

I provide specific details and evidence which defends my position in The Big Fraud.

The J6 Committee wants America to blame Trump. I will not allow the Democrats or anyone else to cast blame on Trump.

    4. I stand with Donald J. Trump. Once the American people read the Big Fraud, available on Amazon, their eyes will open. They will see the documented evidence of law enforcement failures and Nancy Pelosi’s role in all of it.

“The FBI and Twitter COLLUDED to elect Joe Biden.” Jesse Watters. In other words, the 2020 Presidential Election was RIGGED & STOLEN. It all began a long time ago, they SPIED on my campaign, and tried to “RIGG” the 2016 Election, but failed. Remember, our government is doing this, not a person or party. What should be done about such a terrible thing, or should we let someone who was elected by cheating and fraud stay in office and continue to destroy our Country?

    – $10 million for “freedom of expression” In Bangladesh.
    – $90 million for “global internet freedom of expression”

And on and on and on… “Freedom of expression” sounds to me like a cover for censorship/propaganda. So the American tax payers are paying for censorship worldwide. I did NAZI that comin…

“Republicans have been railing against a relatively small provision in the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill unveiled on Tuesday: funds for a hiking trail named after Michelle Obama. Lawmakers are racing to pass the sprawling package—likely the last major bill of the current Congress—before a Friday deadline or face the prospect of a partial government shutdown.

The bill, which runs for 4,155 pages, includes another large round of aid to Ukraine, $858 billion for defense and about $772.5 billion for non-defense, discretionary programs, according to The Associated Press.”

Went to their site – no statement about being satire or parody, which they are required to do somewhere in the “About” or “FAQs.” That’s not to say they aren’t skirting that requirement but it is absolutely out-there whackadoodle leftist, I’ll say that.

  9. it might be easier to list the things he HASN’T lied about…
    FTA
The Biden administration appears to have lied about adding more than a million jobs in the second quarter of this year to mitigate economic data that showed the United States was entering into a recession ahead of the midterm elections.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia released a report last week shooting down the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) claim that the U.S. added more than a million jobs from March to June of 2022.

According to the Philadelphia Fed’s analysis of the numbers, the U.S. added a mere 10,500 jobs in that time period, as opposed to the 1,121,500 claimed by the BLS.

Now Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is demanding answers from the BLS to explain this gargantuan discrepancy, Fox Business reported.

“For the better part of his presidency, while the American economy has struggled and record inflation has brought historic pain to families and small businesses across the country, President Joe Biden has consistently bragged about job growth,” Scott said in a letter to BLS Commissioner William Beach. Scott pointed out that Biden has used his agency’s inaccurate data to support his economy-crushing agenda and policies.

“Now, thanks to the good work of analysts at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, we know that the BLS inaccurately reported the creation more than one million jobs, and that much of what President Biden has claimed credit for as the economic achievements for his administration is a lie,” Scott wrote.

  10. LM update…..after I saw him yesterday when I was unloading groceries, he left and I didn’t see him again. Around 6:30 or so, I went outside to fill his food dish and, to my surprise, it was still almost full. I vaguely heard someone to the west of me seeming to call out for a cat, with the sound you make for that. I kept peeking out off-and-on until I went to sleep and didn’t see him. When I got up this morning and looked out, still nothing. But he was, apparently, in the shelter and came out a few minutes ago. So I bundled up (5 degrees outside but the wind is rising) and filled his food dish.

Since I may have to pick him up to get him in the garage, I tried picking him up to see if he would let me. It was clearly not something he was used to but he didn’t fight me. Good grief, he is much heavier than I expected! He didn’t want much cuddling – motor running, as always, rubbed a few times, then went to eating.

The forecast last night said we should have a clearing period late morning, early afternoon and I haven’t been up long enough to be ready to brave the cold quite yet. Once I have LM in the garage, I can go the whole ball of wax instead of bringing in just enough wood for the next few days. This means a complete revamp of my front entry where I put my log rack, moving the small cherry cabinet. I can put enough wood on that rack to last 4-5 days of moderate fireplace-usage. If I keep it hot and burning all day into the night, 2-3 days.

Re-arrange the crap on the patio, bring in the can full of kindling, and start moving wood. I may give the cart a try – we’ll see. It’s got 4 wheels and I can turn it around and pull it instead of push it – I might be strong enough to do that. If not, it will be many, many, many armloads of wood. Wood with no snow on it will go right into the house onto the rack. Once that is full, I will stack more on the patio. The wood I have will only last maybe a week at most but I have sources for more if I need it.

That is my grand plan – shall we take bets on whether I get all of that accomplished today? Hmmmm…..frankly, I’ll probably be lucky to get LM settled in the garage and a few armloads of wood, with the kindling, on the patio….but it is what it is! LOL

Also, I have been sick, so I haven’t opened my Chromebook in a while. I would really like to catch up, but semester testing is today, so I won’t be able to talk much, but I’ll try.”

Homeowners in New York will phased right out of their homes….

NY plans to change the way you heat your home. Gas, oil, propane furnaces to be phased out
The plan adopted today by the state Climate Action Council requires energy-efficient electric heat pumps or other non-combustion heating systems in every new home built in 2025 or thereafter.

For existing homes, residents whose fossil fuel-burning heating units give out after 2030 will have to replace them with a zero-emission system.

New York condo/co-op owners will be forced to flee

“I just wanted to bring this topic to your attention… The Climate Mobilization Act of 2019 will have a big impact on our building. Our emissions must be cut by 60% in the next 10 years or so. If we fail, the fines are in the range of $150k a year. We will be required to make hundreds of thousands of dollars in investments to upgrade our systems.”

“Converting to (electric) heat pumps will cost [the co-op] $2.5 to $3 million, which does not include finance charges. This expense will result in a 25-30% monthly maintenance increase. Shareholders who have lived here for 20, 30, 40 and 50 years will have to leave Bay Terrace Gardens to find more affordable housing.”

  17. First stage complete: LM is now ensconced in the garage. He waltzed right in the door with me and kind of went coo-coo running around, exploring. I could hear him climbing on something while I got his shelter fixed, with more air-pockets underneath. When I got it done, I looked and looked for him, calling for him – nope! Then I remember the tub with some litter – when I took it out and put it down next to the shelter, I still didn’t see him anywhere so I sat down on the step to wait. Next thing I know, I hear him mewing from the rafters above me. LOL – he couldn’t figure out how to get down so I walked over to the truck, opened the door and stepped up, patting the roof of the truck, and got him to jump down. So he is all set – I will take some warm water out to him periodically.

I have to let my fingers thaw before I start hauling in the wood….….the temp has gone up to 9 but only because the wind has now switched, briefly, to the SE…..that will change back to the N/NW and then it will REALLY get cold.

    Liked by 1 person

      1. No, he can’t get out. He didn’t seem to be too concerned – he was focused on his food dish when I came in the house. He’s got plenty of shelves and nooks and crannies where he can explore.

Thankfully, I do have a 2-handled canvas carrier which makes it a bit easier. I’ll bring in more later – temp up to 11 now – keep going!!!!!

  19. Good grief! Could anything else go wrong??!!?? I get the newspaper and kindling ready, and go to open the flue – won’t budge….sigh…after half-an-hour, 2 screwdrivers, and a hammer….I finally got it taken apart/put back together and working…..sheesh! Fireplace is now functional! But I’ll have to be careful not to move the flue lever too far to the left, which I won’t do anyway until I shut it for the night. I’ll just keep the hammer handy…..phew!

Snow is now coming down heavier and kind of swirling – SE wind changing to NW perhaps….temp still 13. OK – Lois is going to keep an eye on the chimney to make sure I don’t have a fire….should be good, tho. Within 5 minutes after I started the fire, I had to turn the heat down! It immediately got warmer in the front.

      1. Thank you! That fireplace was one of the primary reasons I bought this place, even if one of the minor requirements. But I was determined to have a fireplace, regardless. Since this modular is so old, it is much wider and deeper than the fireplaces being installed nowadays. It has 2 steel mesh screens I can close, which I do if I’m going to be outside, and 2 glass doors that I close at night. There is also a fan but it doesn’t work that well anymore so I don’t even use it – don’t need it, tbh. Age certainly has it’s bennies!!!! LOL

We are in the lull – 16 degrees, almost balmy in comparison, next to no wind, and snowflakes just drifting down. Peaceful and lovely!
