That’s right…Short Girl Appreciation Day falls on the first day of winter…the shortest day of the year…coincidence?  Sigh…I don’t think so!

Before anyone tries to disparage short girls or people in general, let me note that your hosts here are both SHORT women. We never ask about height, but it does come out during conversations…so if you’re short too…welcome!  Be proud!  If you’re tall…can you reach that box on that top shelf for me?

  3. OK – I am now set so that I shouldn’t have to step outside for at least a day or two….well, maybe for some kindling but if I keep the fire going, I won’t need it. I’ve been sleeping in my chair the last few days anyway…got the re-arranging done and my wood rack set up – it’s only about 1/3 filled so I’ll keep bringing in wood until the weather changes. I put a towel underneath on top of the rug to soak up the little bit of snow as it melts. It has warmed it up enough already that I turned my thermostat down to 70 – w/o the fire, it was on 75 or 76!

    EXCERPT: “Marcus Allen (not the NFL player), a former FBI analyst, was caught in the ongoing “purge” of American patriots from the FBI last January and, with the help of Judicial Watch, filed suit against the FBI last week. After serving the country as a Marine with two tours in Iraq, he joined the FBI seven years ago.

    His record was unblemished until January, when he received this letter from the HR department of the FBI:

    ‘This letter is to inform you, as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Security Programs Manager, I (Jennifer Leigh Moore, acting Executive Assistant Director) am suspending your Top Secret security clearance effective upon receipt of this letter.

    The suspension of your security clearance is based on security concerns related to [an internal guideline]….

    You will not be allowed access to FBI space … You may not represent yourself as an FBI employee.”

    In February he received another letter indicating that he was being placed on administrative leave, without pay. Under the terms of that letter, Allen, if he wanted to obtain other employment outside the agency, would first have to obtain approval from his former employer. When he tried to earn some money selling a personally written prayer journal, the agency ignored his petition to do so. Apparently, starvation is part of the retaliation and punishment the FBI metes out to those who might hold views it doesn’t like.

    In May, he was called in for an interview by the agency. Since then, nothing has changed: He and his family (wife and three children) have used up their savings and are now living off early withdrawals from his pension account.

    Judicial Watch (JW), self-described as “a conservative, non-partisan educational foundation which … fulfills its educational mission through litigation,” filed a lawsuit against the FBI:”

  11. I had forgotten how effective my fireplace is…..I measured how far back from it I could feel the heat – 10 feet! If you stand within 3 feet for too long, you face and hands will start burning….I LOVE MY FIREPLACE!!! I’m ashamed of myself now for my laziness in not getting back to it sooner…

      1. I dropped the thermostat to 70 at least an hour ago or more and it hasn’t come on once. Holding at 70. One last job: take some warm water to LM and food, and give him his cuddling for the night. I wonder how Jake is going to feel if LM starts meowing….his food station is within 6 feet of the door. Heh, heh, heh…he kept bugging me to come and watch him eat so he is shut in the bedroom. When the food in his dish is leveled out, it is 2/3 full….but he eats in one spot down to where he can see the metal, then bugs the crap out of me to refill it! Think you’re smarter than me, Jake? Not happening! LOL – I level the food out so he can’t see the bottom….

  12. I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.

    1. Good night – LM was very thirsty and he used the litter box! Success! The wind is now starting to howl and the temp just dropped another degree to 8….I expect that will plummet fast very soon. But I feel REALLY good about what I’ve gotten accomplished! Me and my animals are warm, cozy and secure.

            1. We don’t have that here. People out here are much more unconcerned about the cats especially – they aren’t softhearted about them at all, for the most part. Most only want cats for the barn. Some people are – Mardel, who used to live catty-corner from me (she’s in her 90’s now) used to feed a whole troop of strays. I’m guessing LM probably came from one of them, which may explain why he is friendly – they still hang out over there in the bushes and trees behind the house. Even with the RR tracks right there.

              I considered taking over for her until I saw one of them shit in my garden bed! Nope, nope and nope! Plus the expense of the food. So I didn’t feed any of them until LM showed up this summer.
