That’s 6 years ago and yet, after years of investigation, millions of dollars spent, and the costly and laborious inspection of almost 10,000,000 pages of documents, we are in the second week of a “Fringe Benefits” Case over an Executive’s use of a company car, a company apartment, and his grandchildren’s education. House Republicans Vote Against Banning Earmarks: ‘Shameful Display of Swamp Politics’
The vote, the only recorded one, came down to 158-58-1.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) called it “a shameful display of swamp politics” to describe how “an embarrassingly large majority of the House Republican Conference voted against my friend Rep. Tom McClintock’s amendment to ban earmarks next Congress.”
As Roy described earmarks, they “are the currency of corruption in Washington, D.C. They lead to backroom deals that incentivize Members to vote for massive spending blowouts, fund woke and wasteful projects like LGBT Centers and Diversity and Inclusion programs, and allow Members to steer taxpayer dollars to pet projects for their own personal gain.”
Speaking to the history of the back-and-forth on earmarks, Roy also pointed out that “Congress was right to ban them in 2011 and House Republicans were dead wrong to revive them last year.”

Lawsuit Alleges the Counting of ‘Overvotes’ in Arizona Write-In Election
Arizona Attorney Tim La Sota has filed an Election Contest lawsuit against Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, alleging some votes counted in the State Senate race for Legislative District (LD) 22 were “overvoted.”
some votes cast in this race filled in the bubble to vote for the withdrawn nominee, former State Representative Diego Espinoza (D-Tolleson), while also supplying a write-in candidate. Under Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) § 16-611, if “the voter marks more names than there are persons to be elected to an office,” then that ballot shall not be counted. These ballots are treated as “overvoted,” yet Busch alleged that Maricopa County still counted these ballots for the write-in candidate based on “erroneous legal advice” from the Secretary of State’s Office (SOSO)

“Rumble files lawsuit to challenge New York’s social media censorship law — “New York’s law would open the door for the suppression of protected speech based on the complaints of activists and bullies.”
By Tom Parker
Posted 5:42 pm
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Free speech video sharing platform Rumble and its subscription platform Locals have sued New York Attorney General (AG) Letitia James to challenge a social media censorship law that they say would force platforms to target constitutionally protected speech. Rumble and Locals are being represented by the free speech nonprofit Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and are joined in the lawsuit by constitutional law professor Eugene Volokh, the co-founder of the Volokh Conspiracy legal blog.
We obtained a copy of the lawsuit for you here.
“The law is titled ‘Social media networks; hateful conduct prohibited,’ but it actually targets speech the state doesn’t like — even if that speech is fully protected by the First Amendment,” FIRE said in a statement. The law forces a wide variety of internet platforms to publish a policy detailing how they’ll respond to posts that are deemed to “vilify, humiliate, or incite violence” based on protected classes such as religion, gender, or race.
It also requires platforms to create a way for visitors to complain about “hateful content” and requires them to respond to complaints directly. Platforms that refuse to comply can be investigated by the AG’s office, subpoenaed, and fined up to $1,000 per violation. It comes into force on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
As is often the case with censorship laws, this Social Media Networks; Hateful Conduct Prohibited law doesn’t define “vilify,” “humiliate,” or “incite.” Rumble suggested that this means it would “cover constitutionally protected speech like jokes, satire, political debates, and other online commentary.”
FIRE noted that the law’s scope is “entirely subjective” and suggested that it could target a wide range of First Amendment-protected speech such as “a comedian’s blog entry ‘vilifying’ men by mocking gender stereotypes” and most comments on almost any website “that could be considered by someone, somewhere, at some point in time, as ‘humiliating’ or ‘vilifying’ a group based on protected class status like religion, gender, or race.”
FIRE added: “Bloggers, commenters, websites, and apps around the country are ensnared by the New York law due to its broad definition of ‘social media networks’ as for-profit ‘service providers’ that ‘enable users to share any content.’ This vague wording means that the law can impact virtually any revenue-generating website that allows comments or posts and is accessible to New Yorkers — but no government entity can legally compel blogs or other internet platforms to adopt its broad definition of ‘hateful conduct.’”
“New York politicians are slapping a speech-police badge on my chest because I run a blog,” Volokh said. “I started the blog to share interesting and important legal stories, not to police readers’ speech at the government’s behest.”
Rumble Chairman and CEO Chris Pavlovski added: “New York’s law would open the door for the suppression of protected speech based on the complaints of activists and bullies. Rumble will always celebrate freedom and support creative independence, so I’m delighted to work with FIRE to help protect lawful online expression.”
This law is one of several attempts by New York to encroach on the First Amendment and push for the censorship of constitutionally protected speech. Other laws and proposals from the state have pushed to ban the sharing of violent crime videos online, ban gendered language in law, and allow officials to sue platforms that are suspected of “contributing” to the “knowing or reckless” spread of “misinformation.”

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “WASHINGTON – A unanimous federal appeals court on Thursday ended an independent review of documents seized from former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate, removing a hurdle the Justice Department said had delayed its criminal investigation into the retention of top-secret government information.
The decision by the three-judge panel represents a significant win for federal prosecutors, clearing the way for them to use as part of their investigation the entire tranche of documents seized during an Aug. 8 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago. It also amounts to a sharp repudiation of arguments by Trump’s lawyers, who for months had said that the former president was entitled to have a so-called “special master” conduct a neutral review of the thousands of documents taken from the property.
The ruling from the Atlanta-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit had been expected given the skeptical questions the judges directed at a Trump lawyer during arguments last week, and because two of the three judges on the panel had already ruled in favor of the Justice Department in an earlier dispute over the special master.
The decision was a unanimous opinion from the panel of Republican appointees, including two who were selected by Trump. In it, the court rejected each argument by Trump and his attorneys for why a special master was necessary, including his claims that various seized records were protected by attorney-client privilege or executive privilege.
“It is indeed extraordinary for a warrant to be executed at the home of a former president — but not in a way that affects our legal analysis or otherwise gives the judiciary license to interfere in an ongoing investigation,” the judges wrote.
A Trump spokesperson said Thursday’s decision was “purely procedural” and did not address the “impropriety” of the raid, and promised that the ex-president would “continue to fight” against the Justice Department. Lawyers for Trump did not immediately respond when asked if they would appeal the ruling.
The special master litigation has played out alongside an ongoing investigation examining the potential criminal mishandling of national defense information as well as efforts to possibly obstruct the documents probe. Attorney General Merrick Garland last month appointed Jack Smith, a veteran public corruption prosecutor, to serve as special counsel overseeing that investigation.
It remains unclear how much longer the investigation will last, or who, if anyone, might be charged. But the probe has shown signs of intensifying, with investigators questioning multiple Trump associates about the documents and granting one key ally immunity to ensure his testimony before a federal grand jury. And the appeals court decision is likely to speed the investigation along by cutting short the outside review of the records.
The conflict over the special master began just weeks after the FBI’s search, when Trump sued in federal court in Florida seeking the appointment of an independent arbiter to review the roughly 13,000 documents the Justice Department says were taken from the home.
A federal judge, Aileen Cannon, granted the Trump team’s request, naming veteran Brooklyn judge Raymond Dearie to serve as special master and tasking him with reviewing the seized records and filtering out from the criminal investigation any documents that might be covered by claims of executive privilege or attorney-client privilege. She also barred the Justice Department from using in its criminal investigation any of the seized records, including the roughly 100 with classification markings, pending the completion of Dearie’s work.
The Justice Department objected to the appointment, saying it was an unnecessary hindrance to its criminal investigation and that Trump had no credible basis to invoke either attorney-client privilege or executive privilege to shield the records from investigators. It sought, as a first step, to regain access to the classified documents. A federal appeals panel sided with prosecutors in September, permitting the Justice Department to resume its review of the documents with classification markings. Two of the judges on that panel — Andrew Brasher and Britt Grant, both Trump appointees — were part of Thursday’s ruling as well.
The department also pressed for unfettered access to the much larger trove of unclassified documents, saying such records could contain important evidence for their investigation.
In its ruling Thursday, the appeals court directed Cannon to dismiss the lawsuit that gave rise to Dearie’s appointment and suggested Trump had no legal basis to challenge the search in the first place. “The law is clear. We cannot write a rule that allows any subject of a search warrant to block government investigations after the execution of the warrant. Nor can we write a rule that allows only former presidents to do so,” the judges wrote.
“Either approach,” they added, “would be a radical reordering of our caselaw limiting the federal courts’ involvement in criminal investigations. And both would violate bedrock separation-of-powers limitations.”

“Twitter suspends Kanye West — Ye was banned around a month after Elon Musk took over the company.”
By Cindy Harper
Posted 3:13 am
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The Twitter account for Ye, the rapper and musician formerly known as Kanye West, was suspended by Twitter in the early hours of Friday morning. Twitter CEO Elon Musk said that Ye would be suspended after a post he made on Thursday night that showed an image of a swastika inside the Star of David. Twitter first deleted the image as a violation of its rules.
Musk tweeted that the suspension was “for incitement to violence.” Ye’s account @Kanye West shows “Account Suspended,” – however, the length of the suspension and whether Musk will reinstate the account is yet to be known.
Musk has, in the past, expressed the idea that accounts shouldn’t be permanently banned and that all suspensions should be temporary. However, Twitter’s terms have changed little since Musk took over from previous CEO Parag Agrawal. Ye’s suspension arrived about a month after Musk, who has previously described himself as a “free speech absolutist,” took over Twitter.
Musk said, in a reply to another user: “I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended.”

Ye’s account on Twitter has been restricted previously, but was unlocked prior to Musk taking over the company.”

“Kevin McCarthy Is The Poster Boy For the GOP’s Identity Crisis — Who can tell if McCarthy is a Democrat or a Republican? Only his mother knows for sure.”
Emerald Robinson
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “On November 9th, Rep. Andy Biggs broke major news on my TV show The Absolute Truth by pointing out Kevin McCarthy’s record of failure as a GOP leader — and by insisting that McCarthy did not automatically deserve to be House Speaker without a debate.
Biggs rightly pointed out that Kevin McCarthy had flip-flopped on important issues like impeaching Joe Biden.
Rep. Biggs was soon joined in his public opposition to Kevin McCarthy by Bob Good (VA), Matt Gaetz (FL) and Ralph Norman (NC) and Matt Rosendale (MT). The full number who oppose McCarthy is said to be close to 20 congressmen.
Matt Gaetz, in particular, has been adamant that Kevin McCarthy has never had the necessary votes to become the next House Speaker.
Kevin McCarthy’s response to these skeptics was to whine that Democrats could pick the House Speaker if they didn’t step back in line: “We have to speak as one voice. We will only be successful if we work together, or we’ll lose individually. This is very fragile — that we are the only stopgap for this Biden administration.”
He added: “And if we don’t do this right, the Democrats can take the majority. If we play games on the floor, the Democrats can end up picking who the Speaker is.”
The problem for Kevin McCarthy is that he’s never tried to be “a stopgap” against the Biden regime. It’s not that he tried and failed — it’s that he doesn’t even pretend very well. He can’t even get the optics right. In fact, on the same day that Kevin McCarthy promised to be the leader of a “stopgap” to the Biden regime, he sat down for dinner with Hunter Biden at the White House.
True story. You simply can’t make this stuff up. This is a headline from The Daily Mail today.

When McCarthy is not bringing his mother to dinner with Hunter Biden, he’s sabotaging Trump-aligned candidates in midterm elections. Just ask Joe Kent.
McCarthy also backed the same GOP congressmen who voted to impeach President Trump.
If Kevin McCarthy is a Republican, then why did he take money from FTX — the infamous Democrat funding machine pretending to be a crypto exchange?

Kevin McCarthy is a flagrant charlatan — his antics are so two-faced and insincere that it makes other politicians in his own party nervous. Nobody knows what he will do as House Speaker — least of all McCarthy himself.
So don’t listen to geriatric blowhards like Mark Levin when they tell you to support Kevin McCarthy. He’s not going to impeach Biden, or investigate Dr. Fauci — but he will promise you these things if you’re dumb enough to believe him.

What Kevin McCarthy will do to the GOP is destroy its credibility with GOP voters — while he cuts deals with Democrats and corporate interests like he’s always done. Why do you think he rents a room from disgraced OxyContin lobbyist Frank Luntz in Washington?
Frank and Kevin are best friends. It’s a love affair based upon the fact that both of them have no principles or shame.
That’s reason enough for the GOP to dump Kevin McCarthy.”

EXCERPTS: “An anti-vaxxer nurse who injected up to 8,600 elderly people with saline solution instead of a Covid-19 vaccine has walked free from court. Red Cross nurse Antje T, 39, jabbed thousands of elderly patients at a vaccine centre in Germany with what she told them was the BioNTech Pfizer vaccine but was just a saltwater solution.
The nurse, who administered the fake vaccines at the Schortens jab centre in Friesland, northwest Germany, was given just six months on probation. She was found guilty of six counts of intentional assault by Oldenburg District Court, Lower Saxony state, on November 30.
—————–
When questioned by police, she admitted to using saline solution but had said she only did it because she had accidentally broken a vial containing six shots and was ashamed to tell her colleagues. She had also claimed that it was a one-time incident, but was immediately sacked after antibody tests that were carried out on the affected people confirmed authorities’ suspicions.
——————
Antje T in turn was initially charged with 15 counts of intentional assault at the beginning of the trial in November 2022, but nine of them were dropped due to no evidence. Court spokesperson Torben Toelle said that the prosecutor found evidence that six syringes were changed for saline, leading to the charges, but that they expect this was done to many more.”
During the trial on November 30, the shamed nurse apologised in court. Concerning the defendant’s anti-vaxxer posts on social media, Toelle added: ‘The accused had shared various conspiracy theories on the Internet and on social media. ‘However, the chamber could not determine with the necessary certainty that this set of ideas was the motive for her actions and that she then acted to sabotage a vaccination campaign.’
The verdict can reportedly be appealed within a week.”

Beginning 0001 Wednesday morning Nov. 30, all personnel including Service members, DOD Civilians, Contractors, military trainees, Family members and installation visitors will wear a mask in all buildings on the installation, including Raymond W. Bliss Army Health Center, the Commissary and all Army & Air Force Exchange locations.
In workspaces that facilitate social distancing (i.e. personal offices, spaced-out cubicles etc.), personnel may remove their mask once they arrive at their workspace but will mask when others enter IF they cannot socially distance themselves a minimum of six feet apart. Individuals who work in an area where they can socially distance are not required to wear a mask while at their desk.
Staff working at and children/students attending New Beginnings Child Development Center, School-Age Center and Fort Huachuca Accommodation Schools are not required to wear a mask while in those facilities.
Fitness center patrons may continue to utilize Barnes Field House and Eifler Fitness Center and may remove their mask while actively exercising. Patrons who are not actively exercising (i.e. waiting in the lobby, stretching, using the changing room etc.) will wear a mask.
Indoor meetings and/or events with 50 or more people in attendance will require an advance exception to policy from the Under Secretary of the Army. Fort officials also recommend personnel wear masks when frequenting off-post establishments. Teleworking may be implemented on a case-by-case basis as determined by 06/COL level commanders and directors.
Fort Huachuca leadership implemented the change to HPCON Bravo after seeing COVID-19 cases sharply increasing across the state of Arizona. Over the past seven days, the rate of positivity has increased by 25% state-wide and several counties, including Cochise County, are now categorized at a HIGH risk of transmission.”

Hey guys
I waited a few days to post this—and I write this with the heaviest of hearts. Aunt Jean passed away last week at age 93.
First—Thank God you guys provided us the resources to get Aunt Jean out of the horrible nursing home— and she was able to spend her last months at home, surrounded by loved ones—instead of by a cold hospital staff.
I waited to post this because whatever I say will not be enough. So I will just say this…
God brings people into our lives for a reason and while Aunt Jean was never my aunt ‘by blood’, she undoubtedly became one of the most important people in my life… and the best relative I never had.
She was a mentor, a motivator, and a best friend.
When I became homeless in 2008 at age 49, Aunt Jean allowed me to stay in her basement. And that’s when she tried encouraging me saying “Life begins at 50”— I thought “what a nice lady” but I also thought she was crazy as hell. She wasn’t.
It was Aunt Jean who re-introduced me to the amazing love of Jesus Christ… It was Aunt Jean who encouraged me to recognize my own God-given talents and use them. And it was Aunt Jean who told me I needed to ‘talk on the videos’ and she helped me create intellectual Froglegs.
Now, I was not the only “stray dog“ that Aunt Jean took in and helped over the years. Aunt Jean never had any of her own children— so WE were Aunt Jean’s children.
We were actually planning on Aunt Jean coming to Tennessee for Thanksgiving. But 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, she really started deteriorating and we knew she was not going to make it to Tennessee— so I went to Kansas City to have Thanksgiving with her a week early.
It was the last time we spoke.
We all have family members who, when they died… we’re not entirely sure if they made it to heaven or not. I don’t have that concern for Aunt Jean. I know I will see Aunt Jean again…
I will always love Aunt Jean… And she will be missed horribly.
RIP Jean Marie
A small memorial service will be held 3PM, Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022 at a private residence in Kansas City. If you knew Aunt Jean, and would like to attend, please email IntellectualFroglegs@gmail.com

EXCERPT: “Defense for Jabs Gone: Pandemic of the Vaccinated, Increased Likelihood of C19 Death” — “As vaccination rates have increased and new variants appeared, the share of deaths of people who were vaccinated has been steadily rising.”
The Vigilant Fox
EXCERPT: “Hospitalization and death. That is the talking point the defenders of the Covid-19 injection harp on after conceding that the shots don’t prevent transmission. And it’s also the hill they’re willing to die on to keep the vaccine program alive. But what if we can PROVE that the shots don’t do as they claim with data? Because if they don’t prevent C19 deaths, what is the point?
So, let’s state our hypothesis: the shots don’t/no longer work against hospitalization and death and are now having a negative effect. And people in traditionally less healthy, less C19-vaccinated states (more comorbidities) will start to suffer fewer Covid-19 deaths than in historically healthier, more C19-vaccinated states (fewer comorbidities).
Surprisingly, The Washington Post gave us a head start.

“Fifty-eight percent of coronavirus deaths in August were people who were vaccinated or boosted, according to an analysis conducted for The Health 202 by Cynthia Cox, vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation.
It’s a continuation of a troubling trend that has emerged over the past year. As vaccination rates have increased and new variants appeared, the share of deaths of people who were vaccinated has been steadily rising.”
Next, let’s take a look at life expectancy. This is a map of the CDC’s data from 2019, showing average life expectancies at birth. Notice that many of the rural states, especially those located south of Iowa through Ohio, have lower life expectancies compared to the northeast.”

Endorsement for President Trump’s 2024 Election to the Presidency of the U.S.A.
We are at war for the soul of the United States, with our continued existence as a Constitutional Republic in the balance. More than that: today, as in the 1930s and 1940s, the fate of an entire crisis-wracked world may rest on the leadership which America can provide, once it is restored to its American principles. For these reasons, the 2024 Presidential campaign and election will be the most important in living memory. The ongoing takeover of the Republican Party by the MAGA movement and President Trump, can and must revive the spirit and scientific legacy of the United States and its American System of political economy. President Trump is the only candidate capable of building a broad coalition of Americans, a coalition of producers uniting blue collar families, scientists and engineers, people of religious faith, veterans, farmers, immigrants, and many others. Such a coalition can overcome election fraud, media lies, and the illicit tactics of the Department of Justice and others, and go on to rebuild our nation…

Speaking of LaRouche….if I am remembering correctly, I met Lyndon LaRouche briefly once. It was on the grounds of his estate but at a small barn with an attached apartment I was looking at renting. As I said, it was VERY brief but I saw no security guards anywhere. However, this was in the 90’s so…..IDK what was going on with him personally at that point in time.
From Wiki: “The Washington Post wrote that LaRouche and his wife moved in August 1983 from New York to a 13-room Georgian mansion on a 250-acre section of the Woodburn Estate, near Leesburg, Loudoun County, Virginia. The property was owned at the time by a company registered in Switzerland. Companies associated with LaRouche continued to buy property in the area, including part of Leesburg’s industrial park, purchased by LaRouche’s Lafayette/Leesburg Ltd. Partnership to develop a printing plant and office complex.[116]
Neighbors said they saw LaRouche guards in camouflage clothes carrying semi-automatic weapons, and the Post wrote that the house had sandbag-buttressed guard posts nearby, along with metal spikes in the driveway and concrete barriers on the road. One of his aides said LaRouche was safer in Loudoun County: “The terrorist organizations which have targeted Mr. LaRouche do not have bases of operations in Virginia.” LaRouche said his new home meant a shorter commute to Washington. A former associate said the move also meant his members would be more isolated from friends and family than they had been in New York.[116] According to the Post in 2004, local people who opposed him for any reason were accused in LaRouche publications of being communists, homosexuals, drug pushers, and terrorists. He reportedly accused the Leesburg Garden Club of being a nest of Soviet sympathizers, and a local lawyer who opposed LaRouche on a zoning matter went into hiding after threatening phone calls and a death threat.[26] In leaflets supporting his application of concealed weapons permits for his bodyguards in Leesburg, Virginia, he wrote:”

Right in your face…they give away your job
EAGLE Act would reward tech companies who hired visa workers to replace US workers. Also wld allow the employment green cards to be monopolized by citizens of one country (India), who already claim 25% of them. Most important, it would negate the limits on job-based green cards. https://t.co/etJu5TLbMk

There seems to be an ugly hate campaign against Donald Trump (connected to Kanye’s and McConnell’s smear campaign involving Nick Fuentes) and a ban on showing anything about this beautiful party.

Here’s SD’s post on the McConnell smear campaign:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/11/29/mitch-mcconnell-uses-mar-a-lago-ambush-to-hit-president-trump/
After giving some thought – and – reading all the hate campaign against PDJT – I think it was an ambush – by all the Trump enemies – planned by McConnell et al – and Kanye bringing Fuentes was part of the smear.
Kanye going on and on about Nazis is a continuation of the smear – pouring fuel on the fire.
Kanye’s brain has been scrambled and damaged by drugs and his money has been frozen as you said. So he’s vulnerable to B&B – Bribe and Blackmail.
Just my opinion.

Stefanik says USPS is responsible for mail theft of $20K in contributions sent to her campaign thru the mail…
entire article
Upstate New York Rep. Elise Stefanik says US Postal Service workers tore open her campaign mail and stole $20,000 in campaign checks — while also leaving donors exposed to potential identity theft or fraud.
Stefanik, the powerful House Republican Conference chairwoman, made the stunning claim in a Thursday letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.
The congresswoman’s office also provided The Post with photographic evidence — obtained from the Postal Service — of mail from donors being ransacked, including a torn check from one contributor.
“We are writing you on behalf of our clients, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik and
her campaign committee, Elise for Congress, concerning the repeated, targeted theft of
campaign contributions from packages sent through the United States Postal Service
(“USPS”),” said Stefanik’s D.C.-based lawyer, Michael Toner.
Stolen campaign checks.
“On four separate occasions between June 2022 and November 2022, packages sent by Elise for Congress containing campaign contributions were ripped open and the contents stolen while in the custody of USPS or its contractors.”
Toner said three of the thefts discovered in Memphis occurred in a single week and concluded that the “evidence indicates that Elise for Congress’s packages were plundered by a USPS employee or contractor while the packages were in transit.”
“These repeated security failures by USPS have not only resulted in the loss of nearly $20,000 in campaign contributions, but also—and more alarmingly—have exposed hundreds of Congresswoman Stefanik’s campaign supporters to potential identity theft or financial fraud,” Stefanik’s lawyer said.
It’s unclear if any of the stolen checks were cashed.
“Elise for Congress is continuing to identify our grassroots donors who have been affected by this and look forward to a speedy response from Mr. DeJoy,” a campaign spokesperson said.
The letter indicates that the USPS Office of the Inspector General is investigating the mail theft, but Stefanik is disappointed and frustrated by the response thus far
“The US Postal Inspection Service — which recovered the discarded, ripped open packages in Memphis — has not returned our client’s calls,” Toner said.
The Postal Service IG’s office said it would be difficult to nab the USPS employees or contractors who committed the crimes unless one or more of Stefanik’s donors “becomes the victim of identity theft or financial fraud,” Toner said.
The Stefanik letter also said the congresswoman expected a USPS investigative report shortly after the June mail thefts, but has not received one.
“It is unacceptable that USPS has repeatedly allowed these targeted thefts to occur and cannot identify who committed the thefts, let alone where or how the thefts occurred,” Stefanik’s attorney told DeJoy.
Clearly annoyed, Stefanik is demanding that the USPS give her a full update by Dec. 8 on what actions it has taken to date in investigating the thefts, and what measures it will take to prevent or prosecute mail theft against her and other Americans in the future.
Stefanik, meanwhile, can ramp up her oversight of the Postal Service when Republicans reclaim the House majority in January and take over key investigative panels.
Stefanik’s letter says mail theft has become “rampant” in the United States, with crooks tearing into packages they believe contain cash or checks, which are then “washed”, rewritten and cashed. It cited research indicating the number of stolen checks for sale on the dark web has skyrocketed from 114 per week in the fall of 2020 to about 2,000 checks per week this year.
In August, three postal carriers in Queens were charged with stealing mail as part of a $16 million COVID-19 benefits scam.
“This astonishing increase in mail theft appears, in part, to be the result of criminals moving from small-scale theft targeting individual mail boxes to large-scale theft targeting mail once it has been entrusted to the custody of USPS,” Stefanik’s lawyer, Toner, said.
“Mail theft can devastate small business owners and those on fixed incomes,
including the elderly,” Toner noted. “By failing to prevent or deter mail theft, USPS is exposing hardworking, innocent Americans to predatory criminals just as rising inflation and a cooling economy have left them at their most financially vulnerable.”
The Postal Service had no immediate comment.
