Lizzie Borden, born July 19, 1860, was tried in court for the murder of her stepmother, Abby Borden, and father, Andrew Borden. Although she was acquitted, no other person was accused and she remains infamous for their murders. The murders occurred on August 4, 1892, in Fall River, Massachusetts. Abby Borden was found face down on the floor next to a bed; Andrew was found sprawled across the sitting room couch. Their skulls had been smashed in. A hatchet was found in the cellar, and suspicion fell on their 32-year-old daughter Lizzie, who also lived in the house. Lizzie claimed to have discovered the body of her father about 30 minutes after he came home from his morning errands. Shortly after, the maid, Bridget Sullivan, found the body of Lizzie’s stepmother.

It was said that Lizzie did not get along well with her stepmother, and that they had a falling out years before the murder occurred. Lizzie and her sister, Emma Borden, were also known to have conflicts with their father. They feared their stepmother’s family had designs on the family’s money and property, and they disagreed with his decisions regarding the division of that property. Her father was also responsible for killing her pigeons that were housed in the family barn.

Just before the murders occurred, the entire family fell ill. Since Mr. Borden was not a well-liked man in town, Mrs. Borden believed foul play was involved. Although Mrs. Borden believed they had been poisoned, it was discovered that they ingested contaminated meat and contracted food poisoning. The contents of their stomach were investigated for toxins following death; however, no conclusions were achieved.

Lizzie was then arrested on August 11, 1892. She was indicted by a grand jury; however, the trial didn’t begin until June 1893. Her sister was out of town at the time and was never a suspect.  The hatchet was discovered by the Fall River police; however, it appeared to have been cleaned of any evidence. A downfall for the prosecution occurred when the Fall River police didn’t properly execute collection of the newly discovered forensic fingerprint evidence. Therefore, no potential prints were lifted from the murder weapon. Although no blood-stained clothing was found as evidence, it was reported that Lizzie tore apart and burned a blue dress in the kitchen stove a few days following the murder because it was covered in baseboard paint. Based on the lack of evidence and a few excluded testimonies, Lizzie Borden was acquitted for the murder of her father and stepmother.

Lizzie and Emma inherited a significant portion of their father’s estate, which allowed them to purchase a new home together. The Borden sisters lived together for the following decade. Although free, Lizzie was considered guilty by many of her neighbors, and thusly never enjoyed acceptance in the community following her trial. Her reputation was further tarnished when she was accused of shoplifting in 1897.

In 1905, Emma abruptly moved out of the house that she shared with her sister. The two never spoke again. Emma may have been uncomfortable with Lizzie’s close friendship with another woman, Nance O’Neil, although her silence on the issue has fueled speculation that she learned new details about the murders of her father and stepmother. No member of the household staff ever offered additional information on the rift, even following Lizzie’s death.

Lizzie died of pneumonia in Fall River, Massachusetts, on June 1, 1927. Emma Borden died days later in Newmarket, New Hampshire.  The case has never been solved.

The House is now a Bed & Breakfast.  Mr. Borden’s “couch of death” disappeared years ago — supposedly it was stored in a warehouse that was destroyed by a hurricane — but Lee Ann Wilbur (the previous owner) found a nearly identical replacement that is now the most sat-on piece of furniture in the house. The carpeted floor next to the death bed is also popular. “More people lie on that spot, and have posed on that spot, than do on the couch.”

Over at the county historical museum, the curator of Lizzie Borden’s Murderabilia told us that the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast was voted one of the scariest places on earth by the viewers of Scariest Places On Earth. Even levelheaded Lee Ann conceded that “something’s going on here,” and told us of phantom footfalls and unnatural gusts of wind, especially when guests use the Ouija Board in the sitting room. House cat Max acts as her paranormal alarm system. “When he has issues with the house, I’m gonna have issues with the house.”

Of course, most visitors here WANT an encounter with Lizzie’s pulp-headed parents. Abby Borden’s death room is the most popular rental in the house. For the murder anniversary night Lee Ann put it up for auction online (in 2008 it went for $405.00). “I haven’t had anybody have a heart attack yet,” she says, “but I have lost people around 2 AM. And there are no refunds if you leave.” Visitors can pull their lace coverlets over their heads if the ghosts pop in, but those who run for the exit don’t get breakfast — and that’s a shame, since it’s designed to be similar to the one that the Bordens ate on the morning of their murders.

NOTE: Lee Ann put the property up for sale and it was bought in 2021 by Lance Zaal, who is no stranger to the ghosts and spirits world. He is the creator of Lily, a supernatural doll that wards off ghosts and ghouls around Halloween. He also operates US Ghost Adventures, which offers ghost tours in over 35 states.

        fog covers a little boy’s house when he’s there alone with the elderly babysitter. there’s a knock on the door, she tells him to go to his bedroom. he hears her murder and then calls out that phrase…
        so anytime i see the fog roll up the driveway I say it to hubby…

        1. Yes, I did, and creepy fits but it was much more like evasion and discomfort to me. Watching the movement of the muscles in his face, around his eyes (which were slits), his eyes darting back and forth a couple of times….yeah, the body language lady would have a field day, methinks!

    The report claims Joe also ‘illegally utilized his private, alias email address’ under another pseudonym ‘Robin Ware’ in a 2012 conversation with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who was then National Security Advisor to the VP.

    Rather than satisfying the sole end point required of the clinical trials – that of the prevention of symptomatic disease – the clinical trials CLEARLY DEMONSTRATED C19 INJECTIONS CAUSED SYMPTOMATIC DISEASE.

    The FDA authorized the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna C19 injections for Emergency Use in the full knowledge of the FAILURE of the clinical trials to prevent symptomatic disease and the cause of much more harms.

    Pfizer and Moderna knew their clinical trials had FAILED to prevent symptomatic disease and submitted their C19 injections anyway.

    In other words, the C19 mRNA injections emergency use authorised by the FDA were known IN ADVANCE by all parties involved.

    That is the definition of criminal racketeering and all involved should be prosecuted under RICO laws.

    Health authorities and governments around the world, failed to verify the Pfizer/BioNTech clinical trials and simply rubber stamped what should have been a trivial matter to “trust, but verify”. These health authorities and governments around the world failed in their duty of care to protect their people from dangerous experimental injections. They need to be prosecuted for wilful negligence and criminal malfeasance.

    a black female clerk at a store and a white customer in the store. a black man comes in the store and upon finding out they don’t have the cigars he wanted, starts giving the clerk some shit. the white man comes to her defense. the black man leaves-goes to his car and gets a gun. the white man tackles and restrains him (while waiting for the police) and the clerk starts beating on the white guy? (the white guy is restraining the other guy–not beating on him or anything). she gets the gun and shoots the white guy. the da declines to prosecute her saying she was “standing her ground”????
    the article says the black guy–a felon who shouldn’t have had a gun will be prosecuted for that…but his GIRLFRIEND will walk. (so he’s giving a raft of shit to his gf and someone tries to stop that and gets murdered by HER?)

    Sometimes I wonder if people actually listen to what President Trump says in his rallies. He has asked people to vote on the day of the election and not before. Are so many people just not hearing him?

    Kari Lake’s victory was won using just this tactic. Early voting helps the fraudsters to know how many fake votes to manufacture.

    Also, if you got a ballot mailed to you, don’t open it and take it with you. If you are told you already voted, take out that ballot to prove you did not. Then report this to the sheriff as a case of identity theft.

    Finally, bring with you a blue ballpoint pen, and don’t mark your ballot with any sharpie or felt tipped pen, which will cause your ballot to be adjudicated, and someone else will decide who you wanted to vote for. Blue ink has something to do with copier and scanner technology.

    Alex Jones Sentenced To Death

    WATERBURY, CT — After several days of hearings, a Connecticut jury has found Alex Jones guilty of defamation and has sentenced him to death. “We the jury find Alex Jones guilty on all counts of defamation and have hereby sentenced him to hang from the neck until he is dead,” read the presiding juror. “May God have mercy on his soul.”

  36. Goodness! Look at the blooms on this Vinca! Four in full bloom and at least three more getting ready! And that’s just one of the 3 buckets – the others also have multiple blooms. I’m thinking of planting them in the bare space at the front of my front porch, where I used to have the Bleeding Heart and where I put the butterflies this summer.

    The vines can easily fill up that entire space and….hmmm….if I rig up a trellis of some kind….yeah, that’s the ticket! I’m going to build a small fence-like trellis – heaven knows, I’ve got tons of lath or wire fencing to use! OK – decision made!

      1. I left them in the same growing soil mixture and just added to it with fresh MiracleGro soil. I’ll need to dig out a lot of that clay-type soil first and add some reinforced soil but I think it will work well. The Hostas are purple, too, so they will fit nicely.

          1. There used to be an old split-rail fence around the outside edge of the front stoop but it was all rotted so we took it out. I’ve wanted something to fill in that space for a long time. I had the feathery-type of Bleeding Heart but it didn’t last but a few years. That’s not the best place for a BH anyway – too much sun – whereas the Vincas love the sun. Perfect!

This comes on the heels of a North Carolina State University study that found that Google’s Gmail marked 59.3 percent more emails from “right”-leaning candidates as spam compared to “left”-leaning candidates.

    “Google must be investigated for its un-American efforts to sway the election,” said L. Brent Bozell, founder and president of the Media Research Center. “First, researchers caught Google red-handed by proving Republican campaign emails were sent to spam. Now we’ve uncovered Google manipulating search results to hide Republican campaign websites while promoting Democratic ones. This is all an effort by Google to help Democrats and interfere in the democratic process.”

    MRC Free Speech America has analyzed Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo search results for the 12 Senate races identified by RealClearPolitics as the most important to watch. Our researchers caught Google burying 10 of 12 Senate Republican Party candidates’ campaign websites while highlighting their opponents campaign sites in organic search results. This stands in stark contrast to Bing and DuckDuckGo whose search results treated Republican and Democrat campaign websites more neutrally than Google.

    To cite just one example of how un-costed Net Zero is, Michaux notes that “in theory” there are enough global reserves of nickel and lithium if they are exclusively used to produce batteries for electric vehicles. But there is not enough cobalt, and more will need to be discovered. It gets much worse. All the new batteries have a useful working life of only 8-10 years, so replacements will need to be regularly produced. “This is unlikely to be practical, which suggests the whole EV battery solution may need to be re-thought and a new solution is developed that is not so mineral intensive,” he says.

    All of these problems occur in finding a mass of lithium for ion batteries weighting 286.6 million tonnes. But a “power buffer” of another 2.5 billion tonnes of batteries is also required to provide a four-week back-up for intermittent wind and solar electricity power. Of course, this is simply not available from global mineral reserves, but, states Michaux, it is not clear how the buffer could be delivered with an alternative system.

    Michaux sounds a clear warning message. Current expectations are that global industrial businesses will replace a complex industrial energy ecosystem that took more than a century to build. It was built with the support of the highest calorifically dense source of energy the world has ever known (oil), in cheap abundant quantities, with easily available credit and seemingly unlimited mineral resources. The replacement, he notes, needs to be done when there is comparatively very expensive energy, a fragile finance system saturated in debt and not enough minerals. Most challenging of all, it has to be done within a few decades. Based on his copious calculations, the author is of the opinion that it will not go fully “as planned”.

    Last Sunday, Sir David Attenborough concluded six episodes of pseudoscientific green agitprop Frozen Planet II by demanding that the world embrace Net Zero, “no matter how challenging it may be”. Net Zero is a political command-and-control project, the full horror of which is yet to be inflicted on the general population. Michaux is quite clear what it entails: “What may be required, therefore, is a significant reduction of societal demand for all resources, of all kinds. This implies a very different social contract and a radically different system of governance to what is in place today.”

    Of course, a radically different system of government is available in the People’s Republic of China, but here the position on Net Zero is a tad more nuanced. Having lifted about a billion people out of starving poverty in the last 40 years and become the workshop for an increasingly complacent western world – all powered by fossil fuel – the cause does not seem so pressing. Speaking to the Communist Party Congress earlier this week, President Xi Jinping sounded a note of caution and said “prudence” would govern China’s efforts to peak and eventually zero-out carbon emissions. All of this would be in line with the principle of “getting the new before discarding the old”.

    Meanwhile, China’s coal production is reported to have reached record levels, while the Congress was told that oil and gas exploration will be expanded as part of measures to ensure “energy security”.
