    39* outside right now…but it seems to be a clear outside. That big bright moon woke me at 4am…i thought it was sunshine (which can’t happen given the room) but i was still sleepy at that point…lol

      Cynical observation -she (husband ) knows that the free riders ( they follow her purchases and duplicate on basis think she has inside info ) will buy also and pump up stock price /value and then the P’s will dump it for a profit -pump and dump -dollars to donuts it is not a long term investment , just a market ride …but who knows? after Slo Joe starts WW4 May prove to be a wise investment (sarcasm?)

    With midterm elections a month away, an election integrity watchdog has filed multiple lawsuits in Minnesota over duplicate registered voters while also finding millions of voter registrations in New York missing personal identifying information.

    Public Interest Legal Foundation, a conservative election law nonprofit, filed six lawsuits in Minnesota counties over 515 duplicate registrants. The lawsuits were filed in Nicollet, Dakota, Hennepin, Olmsted, Todd and Ramsey counties.

    PILF also found that 3.1 million registered voters in New York were missing personal identifying information, such as a driver’s license number or Social Security number, which makes it difficult for the state to accurately maintain its voter rolls.

    Under the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA), states are prohibited “from accepting a voter registration unless the voter registration contains a unique identifying number such as the last four digits of a social security number or driver’s license number,” according to a PILF press release.

    The voter registration issues PILF discovered in Minnesota and New York could allow people to vote in elections twice or someone else to vote in place of someone who has moved or died.

    HAVA also requires states to “implement a computerized statewide voter registration list that is accurate and eliminates duplicate registrations,” PILF said in a press release.

    PILF President J. Christian Adams told the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show on Tuesday that it’s fairly easy for duplicate registrants to appear on voter rolls, as someone could simply register with their full name and middle initial in one instance while using their full middle name in another registration.

    “We found a guy in Pittsburgh registered seven times,” Adams said.

    “This lawsuit flurry,” Adams said of the six Minnesota lawsuits, “is hopefully going to clean up some Minnesota problems, because they’ve had these duplicates on the rolls for a very long time, and some, indeed, are casting two ballots.”

    One of the duplicates is “in a mental hospital, a convicted child sex offender, managed to cast two ballots in the 2020 election, it looks like,” he said.

    The Department of Justice Voting Section could fix this issue, as they have almost exclusive authority “to actually do something about inaccurate voter rolls and duplicate voter rolls, and they just don’t do it since George [W.] Bush left office,” said Adams, who worked in the section under the Bush administration.

    Since 2009, “there’s been nothing out of the Voting Section at the DOJ to fix this problem,” he lamented.

    The top Republican on the House Education and Labor Committee is calling on Congress not to fund President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program, calling it an “attempt to steal $400 billion from taxpayers.”

    Biden implemented the program unilaterally without congressional action.

    Federal spending watchdog group the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget projects that the cost of the program will reach $420 billion.

    North Carolina Republican Rep. Virginia Foxx, ranking member of the House Education and Labor Committee, said Congress will have to decide whether to provide the funds to cover the debt forgiveness, which the Department of Education puts at approximately $30 billion each year but noted that economic conditions could change its estimate.

    Congress would also likely have to sign off on a larger budget for the department so it can hire more employees to implement the student debt forgiveness program.

    “Whether it’s utter incompetence or an intentional handout, taxpayers are not only being forced to write a check for someone else’s college tuition but also giving a $10,000 raise to government employees,” Foxx said in a statement provided to Just the News. “With record inflation, rising crime, and a crisis at the southern border — the president is more focused on student loan bailouts and bonuses for government bureaucrats than fixing the messes his administration and Democrats in Congress created.

    “The [Education] Department thinks it can do things by executive fiat yet money has to come from somewhere. Congress holds the power of the purse, and while the president can attempt to steal $400 billion from taxpayers through his student loan scheme, Congress has to appropriate the money to implement it and I hope that number is $0.”

    The contract, initially valued at $500 million, was extended, and the contract value increased by $25 million despite performance issues with the contractor.

    “Specifically, the contractor did not provide key personnel to carry out the required services, assigned staff who were unable to pass security checks and made errors that resulted in mis-charges for IT equipment,” the IG found.

    Highlighting contract extensions that resulted in ballooning costs, the inspector general cited a modest, 1-year contract for $950,000 that the DOT extended 16 times, resulting in taxpayers footing the bill for what became, effectively, a 7-year contract for $15.2 million.

    1. That is quite common in the defense contracting agency…..the long-term 5 year base contract is what every company out there goes for because of those many, many extensions. When I first got into it at DHR, we had a contract like that with the Department of Energy (DOE) – they just re-upped every 5 years.

    In Pennsylvania, the U.S. Senate race has some Democrats crossing party lines to vote for GOP nominee Mehmet Oz over John Fetterman.

    Enter Democrat Tom Knox, a former deputy mayor of Philadelphia and one-time candidate for governor of PA.

    Knox endorsed Oz on Friday, citing rising crime in his city and Democrats’ failure to crack down on violent offenders.

    “I am a lifelong Democrat,” Knox explained in his endorsement of Oz over his Democrat opponent. “I have met with John Fetterman, and I personally like him,” Knox continued. “But I am sad to say, as a resident of Philadelphia, that our city has become increasingly dangerous, and John Fetterman’s policies on crime will make things much worse.”

    The large-scale population-based study published Oct. 5 in Environmental Health Perspectives assessed semen characteristics and reproductive hormones in 864 young Danish men ages 18.9 to 21.2 who were born to women who provided plasma samples primarily during their first trimester of pregnancy between 1996 and 2002.

    Levels of 15 PFAS were measured from maternal samples and seven PFAS had high enough levels to be included in the study. Semen quality, testicular volume and levels of reproductive hormones and PFAS were then assessed in young men from the Fetal Programming of Semen Quality cohort established between 2017 and 2019.

    Researchers found that mothers with higher levels of exposure to PFAS during early pregnancy raised adult sons with lower sperm counts and elevated immotile sperm levels. Sperm motility refers to the ability of sperm to swim efficiently, which is required to move through the reproductive tract to reach and fertilize a woman’s egg. Both lower sperm counts and immotile sperm can cause infertility.

    “In a sample of young men from the general Danish population, we observed consistent inverse associations between exposure to maternal PFAS and semen quality,” the authors wrote. “The study needs to be replicated in other populations, taking combined exposure, as well as emerging short-chain PFAS, into consideration.”

They told me was unable to perform the duties of a normal persons job!!!! I am also looking into a wrongful termination of a special needs employee, wish me luck! I am very disappointed with the management at Wendy’s in Stanley, they have no idea how they hurt my brother!

    Ted Cruz had been regarded as a rock-ribbed conservative—until he ran against Trump in the primaries of 2016 and since then.
    Today he’s a RINO.

    Mike Lee was a Tea Party darling.
    Today, he’s a RINO.

    Nikki Haley was a rising star in the conservative media.
    Today, she’s a RINO.

    Bobby Jindal was the face of a truly conservative GOP.
    Today, he’s a RINO (if anyone recollects him at all).

    We could continue endlessly in this same repetitive vein. Undoubtedly, there are readers who will predictably mistake the trees for the forest and quibble with one or more specific choices from this list of RINOs, objecting that they always knew that so-and-so was a RINO, or that so-and-so is not really a RINO, or some other non sequitur of this sort. Fine. Focusing on specific RINOs for whom the GOP’s conservative base has voted risks conveying the false impression these choices of RINOs were anomalies. That the GOP has always been the party of RINOs is borne out by none other than the conservative voters themselves! Whether it is on purpose or not, they confess to voting RINO and promoting the narrative that is pushed tirelessly by Big Conservative media.

    According to this narrative, Donald Trump began giving the GOP a facelift when he ran for the presidency. “MAGA” or “America First” marks a welcome and long overdue transformation of the GOP that preceded Trump. In other words, the GOP, these same Trump enthusiasts are acknowledging, had been a RINO Party up until Trump.

    That Trump’s candidacy and then election marked a dramatic, if largely cosmetic, shift in GOP politics is undeniable. Putting aside for the moment Trump’s own deficiencies, the narrative that he is the savior of the Republican Party is belied by that very narrative. For according to that narrative, the Trump agenda was frustrated and his presidency brought down by Democrats, yes, but even more critically . . . RINOs! Trump had to first fight both national parties to become POTUS before, ultimately, being defeated by both national parties, or so this narrative would have us believe.

    So, the Republican Party had been the party of RINOs before Trump’s presidency, during his presidency, and remains the party of RINOs today.

    The narrative is incoherent. But it should serve to make the point that the RINO is hardly the deviant that the narrative’s authors would have us think it is. This tale, rather, compels us to concede that of our two national political parties, one is the RINO Party. In voting straight Rs, the very people who swear that the solution to conservatives’ woes is to simply vote out the RINOs are actually solidifying the RINO’s habitat by voting for the RINO Party.

    Conservative media personalities have been strengthening the RINO Party since forever and without missing a beat: Though the vision and rhetoric of George W. Bush is dramatically different from that of Donald Trump, these same figures moved effortlessly, and without apology, from cozying up to the former and then cozying up to the latter.

    GOP politicians and their media lapdogs have put the “con” into conservativism. And, to repeat, the Republican Party is and has always been the RINO Party.”

  34. EXCERPT: “The Justice Dept. has raided the homes of more pro-life leaders across the nation. The raids and arrests are believed to be part of a coordinated attack to silence and intimidate conservatives, Christians and the pro-life movement, warned best-selling author Todd Starnes. At least 13 pro-life leaders have been arrested so far. The most recent was Paul Vaughn, of Centerville, Tennessee.

    He told Daily Signal a small army of heavily armed agents showed up “guns pointed at the door, banging on the house, yelling and screaming, ‘Open up. FBI,’ that kind of thing. When I opened the door and saw the guns pointed at me, I asked them what they wanted, who they were looking for, and they said they wanted me.”

    “I had kids in the yard walking out to get in the car to go to school, I was about to take them to school, and other kids in the house,” he continued. “So seeing that the easiest path to de-escalation was me in handcuffs, I stepped outside and put an end to the ranting and the banging and the yelling.”

    The Justice Dept. accused Vaughn and the other pro-lifers of using social media to organize sidewalk protests outside the baby-killing facilities. They also stand accused of shouting that babies were being killed.

    “The last time I checked my pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution, Americans still have free speech and the freedom to peacefully assemble,” said Starnes. “This is clearly an attempt by the Biden Administration to jail their political enemies. This is payback for the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.”

    Conservative Party MP Conor Burns was fired as Prime Minister Liz Truss’s trade minister this week after complaints about his behavior at the party’s annual conference in Birmingham. Burns’s behavior has been an open secret in Westminster for some years, but a young man taking umbrage to his “thigh” being squeezed in a hotel bar should be the beginning of a far deeper investigation into the social mores of the supposedly right-wing party in Britain.

    It won’t be. Because the depravity is institutional. The party’s preferred political blog of choice, ‘Conservative Home’ (actually a center-left site) has already come out in favor of Burns.

    A further case in point: the largest social gathering at the conference nowadays is the “LGBT Conservatives” event, a group that had to change its name following the arrest and charge of one its chairmen, Conservative Party elected representation Matthew Sephton.

    Sephton – an inheritor of the group from its far-left founder Anastasia Beaumont Bott, who I had the immense displeasure of knowing – was convicted of having 31 indecent videos of children and 3,774 indecent still images. What’s worse is he was only sentenced to two years and nine months in prison, even though one of his text message exchanges saw him responding to a picture of a 14-year-old boy with the phrase: “Yum – any younger?”

    And yet LGBT Conservatives still attracts the highest praise from the Tory Party’s top leaders. Truss herself is pictured below at this year’s conference, having a laugh with the current group chairman, Elena Bunbury, a serial attention seeker who whines when she receives anything but fawning praise.

    Another speaker at the LGBT “Curry night” was the ostensibly right-wing Spectator magazine’s James Heale, who just co-authored a book about Truss with Sun newspaper reporter Harry Cole, who campaigned for the aforementioned Conor Burns in 2010, before breaking the news about his party conference lechery this month. Yes, Westminster really is that small. And gross.

    Little wonder, then, the Tory Conference has become nought more than a gaggle of men dressed as women, followed swiftly by a cacophony of crying when the few conservatives who still attend meekly and drunkenly lash out at the dominance of the rainbow people.

    Yes, despite dominating the proceedings, they still harp on about homophobia. Which no doubt someone will lazily brand this analysis to avoid having to deal with the issues at hand: men can’t be women; this group was led by a pedophile; and drag queens belong nowhere near a conservative movement. Or anywhere, to be frank.

    Top it all off with said drag queen, of course – appearing to the delight of these “Conservative” activists at the “Reflex” nightclub in Birmingham. As conservatives (and many old liberals alike) across the Western world rally together to stop the scourge of this depravity further infecting our societies, Britain’s Conservative Party welcomes it with open, er, arms.

    At the very least you’d think party donors and directors would realize that literally everything this group does comes back to bite them in the arse. Then again, most “Conservative” party donors and directors nowadays seem to like a bit of that.”

  41. A lot of the pictures in today’s post aren’t showing up for me today. And those that do are taking a long time to open. I’m at Sally’s so it may be the slow Village internet or it could be my old computer.

    Miss Pat – Finally started sewing the Safety Sling for Sally’s lift. First, I drew and redrew the design – measured and re-measured – – took my time with that to try to be sure.

    It’s slow going. A sewing machine jiggles on a card table so I have to sew slow.

    If the first try doesn’t work – I’ve got enough cloth to make others.

    I stopped sewing to tell you how much I love this little 1970s 12112 Kenmore metal gear machine.

    It clickety clacks through all the nylon belting, heavy fabrics, plows over thick seams.

    It doesn’t break needles like the Pfaff and Bernina I bought did – oh man – the Bernina required special thread, special tools to go over a thick seam. It was so persnickety and temperamental – I sold it within a week after I bought it. (for a profit). You could not pay me to own another fancy computerized sewing machine or one with plastic gears.

    1. My mom had a Kenmore for many years. when she decided to get rid of it, she gave it to my granddaughter…
      sorry I didn’t respond sooner. I got tied up making a bucket bag for my granddaughter’s Halloween costume. She loved some suede remnants I had…but gees that stuff is tricky to work with. I had to put grommets in it for the drawstring…and it needed a firmer bottom so I cut out a bottom from cardboard and then had to make a lining…gees louise…LOL

      1. Yesterday – I got the sling almost made, except for the pleats and D rings at the end to hook it on the lift strap eyelet caribiners. It involved sewing through lots of layers of poly web belting. The cute little Kenmore didn’t even groan or strain. No broken needles! Bought it from a guy in FL and it didn’t have even a scratch on the foot pedal. Looks brand new. A lot lighter to to tote than the Pfaff 7570.

    Two people were shot outside the Long Island home of GOP gubernatorial candidate Rep. Lee Zeldin on Sunday while his teenage twin daughters were at home, he confirmed to The Post.

    “My daughters Mikayla and Arianna were doing homework on the first floor,” said Zeldin, who was not home at the time. “They heard the shots. Boom! They went upstairs and locked themselves in the bathroom.

    “They’re freaked out,” the congressman said.

    The Suffolk County pol, who is running on a tough-on-crime platform, said the two people who were shot were taken to Long Island Community Hospital.

    He said his front porch, where he was interviewed by The Post on Saturday, “is now part of the crime scene.
