What Shall We Bake Today?

Food 1 Minute

Today we’re going to make Banana Nut Muffins! These freeze beautifully, by the way. After they’ve cooled, put them on a baking tray in the freezer for about 30 minutes. Remove them, wrap in aluminum foil and freeze in an air-tight container for up to 2 months. You can also reduce the fat in these muffins, by substituting half (or all) of the oil with unsweetened applesauce.

Banana Nut Muffins

1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 medium ripe bananas

1 large egg, room temperature

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. In another bowl, mash the bananas. Add egg, oil and vanilla; mix well. Stir into the dry ingredients just until moistened. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups half full.

Bake at 375° for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!

    It has just been reported that Attorney General Merrick Garland has sent a notice to everyone at the Justice Department ordering that no one contact Congress—meaning, I assume, no Whistleblowers allowed! The only reason for this must be that with the firing of the “Special Agent” In Charge at the FBI, many within are calling political Representatives in disgust at what has happened to Law Enforcement Agencies in the United States of America. Is this interference with the Whistleblower laws?

      Wasn’t this done to discredit and demean lawyer Michael Cohen, who they said was in Czechoslovakia dealing with Russia, Russia, Russia when, in fact, it was confirmed that he was in California with his son. Theirs was a big, corrupt, and totally fabricated story at the time. It went away quickly after the real facts were confirmed!

      I’m a big fan of Lee Smith (the BIGGEST!), and agree with him. I would like to add that I also believe they were looking for, and thought I had, some or all of the Crooked Hillary Clinton 33,000 emails that were deleted, acid washed, and phones hammered AFTER the receipt of a full Congressional SUBPOENA. Additionally, they perhaps wanted any information on the Non-Collusion Mueller, Mueller, Mueller Report.

Considering the issue with posts appearing to look like original posts when they are really re-truths of comments ON the original post…..I am giving all alleged “Truths” the side-eye…..there was a fairly thorough explanation last night at M’s about how this is happening.     “I would jump all over this,” Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) told the “Just the News, Not Noise” television show when asked about the lawsuit. “We will join together.”

    He said lawmakers home for summer recess are hearing lots of anger about the plan and suggested the conservative and growing Freedom Caucus in the House could take the lead in litigation.

    “I think other members of the Freedom Caucus, and to be honest with you, just members in Congress,” he said. “We are getting an earful. I think House and Senate, because this has really never been done before. And where do you stop it?

    The concerns about the legality of Biden using executive powers to cancel debt first started with Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, more than a year ago.

    “People think that the President of the United States has the power for debt forgiveness. He does not,” Pelosi told a July 2021 news conference. “He can postpone. He can delay. But he does not have that power. That has to be an act of Congress.”

    Pelosi has since changed her tune, but the threats of legal challenges are growing.

    The small business lobby Job Creators Network, which successfully challenged Biden’s vaccine mandates for private businesses last year, is among those considering litigation to challenge the debt cancellation.

    “We know that this is going to hurt the economy. … Up to a trillion dollars here that’s going to hurt the economy,” JCN President Alfredo Ortiz told Just the News earlier this week, explaining the rationale for businesses to sue. “We know it’s going to … lead to higher deficits. We know it’s going to lead to higher taxes, because somebody’s got to actually pay the bill. And it’s going to be inflationary.”

    Norman said everyday Americans understand those consequences and also have fundamental questions about fairness.

    Biden “is intent on buying votes, which he thinks he will do,” Norman said. “And it’s such a slap in the face of those who didn’t attend college. It’s a slap in the face for those who are … going to be saddled with this debt. And everywhere I go in South Carolina, people are livid about this. It’s not fair.”

    He added: “I think the lawsuits will come.”

Easy/peasy! It was so satisfying to hang it up and turn the new opening to the sun…..I could just imagine the plants saying….”…..wait!!! what is that??? more sun??? let’s go, everybody!” ROFL

      Out of the 5 Vinca’s, 3 in the buckets have 2 blooms on each, one in the feeder is blooming, and there is a bud on the other one!

    Leopard Appaloosa: The Leopard Appaloosa pattern is dark spots, of varying sizes, covering a white body. Their coats closely resemble a Dalmations. Spots can also be concentrated around the head and legs.

    Liver Chestnut: A dark reddish-brown horse with lighter mane and tail. [The horse in the below pic is an Arabian – look at the face, ears, high tail set and the scimitar ears! The second mare my guy bred was a liver chestnut who looked exactly like this one – she had a light chestnut filly. The first time with the bay mare didn’t take – I have a picture of him on top of his first! LOL – he was sooooo funny the first time!]

      1. The very first Arabian that started me on my obsession with desert Arabs looked exactly like this one – this is a very, very common color pattern in the Arab world. It belonged to the son of a woman server (now, SHE was a pro, often requested by people who flew in from Denver or CO Springs) at The Flower Restaurant in Pueblo, CO. We were friends and I boarded my mare at her small ranch. I worked there part-time as a bartender/hostess. My hubby was the manager….

      2. Even in those mostly-solid horses, there are variations. As an example: a bay. There are different KINDS of bay, i.e, my guy was a blood bay, which means he had a dark red tint. They are not quite as common as the “normal” flat brown bay. The same applies to pretty much every color group.

  38. Hey Pat, Filly, & gang…hubby is on Day 3 of Job 3. We’re Really hoping this one works out! He got to do some driving yesterday, which he really enjoyed. The first day was All physical labor in 100 degrees for 11 hours & he was pretty wiped out. Not sure what today holds…

    Appreciate All of the prayers over this unexpectedly long transition time. & thanks so much for those of you praying for my son Brandon who is wrestling potentially taking the shot (he knows how bad it is but feels like he has nearly no choice for education–EMT training including “clinicals” in a healthcare setting–& to cross the border into Canada for his longtime long distance girlfriend). He’s likely going to decide sometime in October…

    Hope everyone enjoys a wonderful holiday weekend. Much of my family is heading to Northern Michigan again. Quite a few of us are planning to walk the Mackinac Bridge in honor of my aunt’s 85th birthday. When we walked it for my dad’s 80th in 2019 my aunt kicked All of our butts. She’s been very active all her life, formerly a mountaineer, a naturalist, botanist, & innovative scrappy teacher & freelancer.

    Having the home computer out has made writing much a real pain on a tablet…though the emojis are easy to access 🙂 Hopefully by the time I get back home the new part will have arrived & the computer will be fixed…God willing & if hubby has the inclination & the energy! Thankfully today I’ve got some library access 🙂

      1. Well “enjoying” apart from driving is bit of a stretch at this point. He’s thankful to be working & making more than at his old job with a guaranteed raise in a couple months too. He likes the atmosphere & all his co-workers but is having to adjust to the hours & the rigors of this job. He’s glad to be out of the office & not missing the old job at all!

  40. In other (potential) news, son-in-law called & later daughter joined on the line to ask hubby & I out for dinner on Thursday (which thwarts my early departure North plans). After the call Michael was like “that was super weird”, they Never have done this before in a year of marriage & a couple years dating & engaged….he speculates that they might have an “announcement” to share, before heading North & seeing the gang…

    We’re speculating 80% that they’re gonna tell us they are expecting a baby…but we really don’t know. SIL just started his first teaching job & they are rumored to be house hunting. Daughter wants to be a stay-at-home homeschooling mom of at least 6 kids…Good Times ahead it might seem ❤ 😍 ❤

          1. I was thinking that when we discovered I was pregnant with our daughter, our last child, we took the extended clan out to eat for Father’s Day & my hubby announced he was going to be a father again. So many blessings!!! Special to share that love & joy 🙂

              1. Agreed! God is good to let us have these different seasons in life. Being a mother is for the young(ish)…I was almost 30 with my first. Being a grandmother is more my speed now, with no Real expectations 🙂
