Today’s lesson will be APPLE TURNOVERS!! YUM!!

hmmmmmmm…warm, flaky, perfect!

Let’s get started!

Step 1

preheat the oven to 475*

Step 2

Open THIS box and remove the turnovers from the package and bake as directed. (These cannot be improved upon without much fanfare and mess! I know, I’ve tried!)

Step 3

When the turnovers have finished baking and are cooling, prepare a simple drizzle icing. I use powdered sugar (start with a cup and experiment) and a teaspoon of water at a time–mixing well before adding more water. (If you use too much water, the icing will just run off the turnovers and be wasted.) If the icing does get too runny, add a little more powdered sugar. When you get the consistency you desire, drizzle it over the turnovers. Enjoy!

  1. Good morning y’all! Got my paperwork done to list our lot yesterday so I’m excited for that. Have another day alone at work and a plate full of stuff to do. Those turnovers look good! Would go well with some ice cream for sure even though I’m not much of a sweets person. Hope you have a good trip Pat and I look forward to your stories to come Filly. Did you have any luck with your gate? Anyhow, y’all have a great morning!

    1. Good morning, CM! Don’t you love Pat’s humor? I literally LOL’ed when I saw what she did here – I was expecting homemade turnovers!!!! This is MY kind of baking!!! No, I gave up on the gates – I turned and turned and turned yet could see no difference whatsoever. So, I’ll just leave one side unlatched and open but held closed with blocks of wood. I do hope you are able to get what you need for your lot and quickly! Don’t work too hard!

      1. I’ll try not to, but I tend to over do things sometimes. Yeah, I wasn’t expecting the store bought, but sometimes one must keep it simple! Sucks about your gate though. Hopefully you can get them fixed without breaking the bank. Maybe new posts if your old ones are rotting below the surface. Concrete them in maybe?

        1. At this point, w/no extra income, as long as they work to keep out the critters, I’ll make do. But thanks for the suggestion. Worst case scenario: I’ll just take the gates down. I have no plans to get another dog and never let Jake outside so it’s not a big deal. That was the main reason for the fence – I had a dog at the time.

      Because of these oddities, I decided to dig a little deeper into the text and look for elements of cryptography or hidden messages. Because the text seemed as if the surface meaning were merely a distraction. There seemed to be a far more important message encoded in the text, which is why such strange grammatical and word choices were likely made.

      To begin, I converted the lines into text blocks, eliminating special characters, spaces, etc. The result:

      If you take this text and reorder the letters along the Y-axis, from top to bottom, you get letter sequences. For example, taking the first letter of each line gives you:

      These letters can be fed into an anagram word finder algorithm to pick out phrases that use the same letters. When you do this, you get the phrase, “BRUSA Agreement” from those letters, with a few extra letters discarded.

      When I first saw this, I did not know what the BRUSA Agreement referred to. But if you search online, you’ll find that it refers to the “1943 BRUSA Agreement” described here on the military history website of Fandom.com:

      The 1943 BRUSA Agreement was an agreement between the British and US governments to facilitate co-operation between the US War Department and the British Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS). It followed the Holden Agreement of October 1942.

      Colonel Alfred McCormack of the Special Branch of Military Intelligence Service, Colonel Telford Taylor of Military Intelligence, and Lieutenant Colonel William Friedman came to Bletchley Park, the Government Code and Cypher School Headquarters in England in April 1943. The British decided to inform them of their successes with Ultra.

      The security regulations, procedures and protocols for co-operation formed the basis for all SIGINT activities of both the US National Security Agency and the British GCHQ.

      In other words, BRUSA Agreement refers to the US / UK (part of the Five Eyes group) cryptography intelligence operations, also involving “ultra” (MK-Ultra?).

    I say this respectfully. Peterson missed the mark again. He botched this issue. Beauty is an opinion. And we all know opinions are like booty holes. Everyone has one and they all stink. The left doesn’t want to retool the notion of beauty. They want to retool the notion of health. They want to reclassify obesity as healthy.

    Virtually everything the progressive left promotes is related to normalizing a culture of death, destruction, and despair. Abortion is about the right to kill babies in the womb. Liberalizing drug laws is about freeing people to self-medicate themselves into zombies. Defunding the police is about normalizing violent chaos within communities. Hostility toward religion is about removing hope, the lifeblood of civilization. Transgenderism is about the mutilation of God’s creation.

    Jordan Peterson is known for speaking uncomfortable truths. He passed on an opportunity in this instance. The platform of the modern left is built on early 20th-century satanist Aleister Crowley’s “do what thou wilt” philosophy. I agree; however, the problem is that China is taking over the natural resources, including things like coal, copper, natural gas, petroleum, gold, lithium, uranium, gold, rare earth elements, and arable land. The situation also pertains to the balance of power in the world and these resources, some of which can’t be found here in the US. But then, that can also be handled with suitable trade agreements. It’s a many-sided issue.

Both men have a history of politically charged statements, making them an odd choice for the historically nonpartisan body.

    Nominating committed partisans to the commission signals the Biden administration’s intent to muscle through its criminal justice agenda without congressional support.     Democrats have worked to elevate Reeves since Biden took office. A darling of the judicial left, Reeves was featured on the progressive advocacy group Demand Justice’s list of prospective Supreme Court nominees. And he was widely seen as a lead contender for promotion to the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, though a suitable vacancy has not opened.

    Reeves fired a political broadside rarely seen from a sitting judge while accepting an award at the University of Virginia in 2019. In his speech, Reeves compared Trump to Jim Crow-era racists, saying he could hear the voices of George Wallace and James Eastland “echoing into the present” when Trump criticized judicial decisions.

    “When politicians attack the courts as ‘dangerous,’ ‘political,’ and guilty of ‘egregious overreach,’ you can hear the Klan’s lawyers assailing officers of the court across the South,” Reeves said.” Reeves was similarly unsparing in his assessment of a Mississippi law that bans abortions after 15 weeks. That law is the one at issue in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the case in which the Supreme Court may overturn Roe v. Wade. Abortion providers challenging the law first did so in Reeves’s court, which is in Jackson, Miss.

    Mississippi lawmakers said they enacted the ban to promote women’s health. Reeves called the explanation “pure gaslighting” in a rhetoric-laden 17-page decision that struck down the law. He called the law’s proponents racist and sexist, writing that the ban evokes “the old Mississippi, the Mississippi bent on controlling women and minorities.”

    Mississippi appealed the decision to the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge James Ho, a conservative Trump appointee, said he was duty-bound to uphold Reeves’s decision because it accurately applied Supreme Court precedent. But he took Reeves to task for his unjustified screed.

    “I find it deeply disquieting that a federal court would disparage the millions of Americans who believe in the sanctity of life as nothing more than ‘bent on controlling women and minorities,’ and ‘disregarding their rights as citizens,’” Ho wrote. “Those insults not only directly conflict with the Supreme Court’s admonitions that both sides of the debate deserve respect—they are also demonstrably incorrect.”

    Gleeson, the second nominee, is a veteran of the Russia-collusion probes who stepped in to pursue Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn even after the Justice Department dropped its case against him.

    In a highly unusual move, U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan tapped Gleeson to argue against the Justice Department’s dismissal motion, which Gleeson did with gusto. He said the department’s decision to drop the matter was corrupt, abusive, and politically motivated over several throat-clearing paragraphs at the top of his legal filing.

    Republicans said Gleeson was aiding a partisan judge’s efforts to collect Trump administration scalps. The saga ended when Trump pardoned Flynn in November 2020. The commission’s sentencing guidelines aren’t binding. But judges are expected to justify departures from the ranges they suggest.

    Appointing strident ideologues to the Sentencing Commission is an unusual move. The seven-member commission is bipartisan by law—neither party may have more than four commissioners—and usually devoid of political squabbles.

    “The USSC is a bipartisan, consensus-based commission that produces sober and data-driven analyses and recommendations. Its work has been and should be free of partisanship,” said a conservative lawyer familiar with the commission’s work.

    The White House did not respond to a request for comment on the nominations.”

According to law enforcement sources in Coahuila, authorities found the bodies when they passed the rail car through a scanning device. It remains unclear why the bodies were not discovered on the railcar’s trip north.

    The department announced Wednesday former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff and former U.S. Deputy Secretary General Jamie Gorelick under Clinton “will lead a thorough review and assessment” of the board that was “grossly and intentionally mischaracterized.”

    Chertoff reportedly pushed disinformation about Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop, claiming Russians were behind the emails found inside, according to the Free Beacon. Chertoff served as the secretary of the DHS from 2005-2009, investigated the 9/11 attacks and co-authored the PATRIOT Act, which gave the government authority to tap phones to surveil for terrorism and conduct searches without a warrant.

    Gorelick worked for the Clinton administration and was a member of the 9/11 Commission.     The homeowner’s association reportedly told Chris, whose last name is unknown, that the bumper sticker is an offensive trader activity, according to Fox 5-KVVU-TV. Chris, who lives in the Central Park Estates neighborhood, told the outlet the HOA violated his freedom of speech.

    “It makes me feel upset,” he said. “I am a veteran. I did take an oath to this country. I believe freedom of speech should be everywhere. They say it is an obnoxious trader activity which in my mind is more setting up a lemonade stand as a trader activity. This is just a sticker on a vehicle.”

    The HOA sent a letter telling Chris he will be fined $100 if he did not remove the bumper sticker by Friday, the outlet reported. To avoid the fine, he currently backs his truck into his driveway and removes the vehicle’s hatch. “It doesn’t matter what your opinion is,” he continued. “Everyone should be able to express it without somebody getting upset. I am hoping they understand it is freedom of speech and they let me put it back on.”

    The HOA allows residents to display one political sign in their front yard during election season, the outlet reported. The anti-Biden bumper sticker remained on the truck past the 2020 election, causing the HOA to threaten to take Chris to court. The HOA told Fox 5 that it did not have a comment.

    The phrase “Let’s Go, Brandon” became a national phenomenon among conservatives after NBC reporter Kelli Stavast claimed an audience chanting “F*ck Joe Biden” were cheering “Let’s Go, Brandon” in support of NASCAR driver Brandon Brown in October 2021. The chant has since been code for smearing Biden.

    A flight attendant reportedly kicked off plane passenger Ryan Salo in March for wearing a “Let’s Go, Brandon” mask.”

    Sussmann, a Democratic lawyer with ties to Clinton’s 2016 campaign, was charged by Durham last year with lying to the FBI during a 2016 meeting. The trial officially began in court this week, and Sussmann’s attorney Sean Berkowitz quickly pushed for a mistrial after former Clinton campaign general counsel Marc Elias’s testimony Wednesday.

    The push for a mistrial surrounded a comment Elias made during cross-examination, according to Fox News. Elias at one point suggested they “ask Mr. Sussmann” when pressed on whether Sussmann went to the FBI with his claims at the behest of the Clinton campaign. The prosecution subsequently mentioned this answer, prompting the defense to issue the motion for a mistrial, according to Fox News.

    U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, upon denying the motion, noted that the court will follow “routine” procedure. Cooper noted that this procedure includes striking “non-responsive portions of the transcript,” Fox News reported. Sussmann’s defense also suggested there’s still a chance the defendant may take the stand, with Berkowitz admitting he’s made no official decision as of yet. Sussmann’s defense previously pushed for the case to be dismissed, but Cooper ruled in April that the case could go forward and that the defense failed to offer “legal authority” proving Sussmann did not give a materially false statement.

    “While Sussmann is correct that certain statements might be so peripheral or unimportant to a relevant agency decision or function to be immaterial under § 1001 as matter of law, the Court is unable to make that determination as to this alleged statement before hearing the government’s evidence. Any such decision must therefore wait until trial,” Cooper ruled at the time.

    Durham’s team began opening arguments Tuesday by summing up its case against Sussmann as “a look, a leak and a lie.” Durham-team prosecutor Deborah Brittain Shaw argued earlier this week that Sussmann “used and manipulated the FBI,” Law and Crime reported. Shaw also described Sussmann as a man who tried to “create an October surprise on the eve of the presidential election,” according to Law and Crime. That “October surprise,” according to Durham’s team, involved the “look,” “leak,” and “lie.”

The shooter opened fire as families and students attending Riverdale High School’s graduation ceremony left Middle Tennessee State University’s Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Wednesday night, police told local outlet WKRN.

    Two gunshot victims were found by tennis courts near the Murphy Center, with one victim declared dead while the other was transported to a hospital in critical condition, authorities told WKRN. The shooter is still at large and considered to be “armed and dangerous,” police told WKRN. Police have yet to release a description of the suspect.

    A spokesperson for the school district stated that Rutherford County Schools are closed for Thursday and are expected to reopen on Friday, the outlet reported. Blackman High School in Rutherford County is still set to hold its graduation ceremony at the Murphy Center on Thursday, according to the school’s website.

In response, Lamborn introduced the latest bill to prevent foreign banks from facilitating the terrorist payments and putting their relationships with the U.S. financial system at stake.

    The Biden administration’s reported latest move is potentially at odds with the previously passed Taylor Force Act, which conditions U.S. aid on the Palestinian leadership ending terrorist payments.

    WPATH referenced stories of self-castration shared on the site to argue that healthcare providers must castrate individuals for their own safety if they believe a person will likely chemically or surgically castrate themselves outside of the formal medical setting otherwise.

    “For the purpose of Standards of Care, we define eunuch as an individual assigned male at birth whose testicles have been surgically removed or rendered non-functional, and who identifies as a eunuch,” the guidance states. “They ask for castration, to become eunuchs, because they are eunuch-identified. They may also benefit from eunuch community because of the identification – with or without actual castration.”

    The guidance also claims “eunuch-identified people may suffer the same minority stress as other stigmatized groups.” WPATH said its guidance drew heavily from the Eunuch Archive, which it calls “the greatest wealth of information about contemporary eunuch-identified people” while also acknowledging the site contains misinformation and sexual fantasies.

    The connection between WPATH and Eunuch Archive was the subject of an investigation by Reduxx.”

    Olivia Ortz, the choir director at Wilmington Area High School, was arrested Monday after police discovered more than one hundred messages between her and a 17-year-old student on the chat function of the Spotify music-streaming app, the New York Post reported Tuesday. Police acted on a tip from Ortz’s husband, who found the messages detailing his wife’s alleged affair with her student on her iPad and reportedly told the school’s principal, according to the outlet. Ortz’s husband freelanced with the school’s music department.

    The student who Ortz allegedly had the affair with also spoke with police and alleged that the pair had sex on several instances while Ortz’s husband was away on a trip, WTAE reported. The 17-year-old’s father reportedly discovered the conversation between Ortz and his daughter and took away her access to technology, but Ortz allegedly continued to communicate with the minor, according to WTAE. The minor also returned to Ortz’s home to “comfort her” after Ortz’s husband discovered the alleged affair.

    Police executed a search warrant on Ortz’s home and took her cell phone and iPad, according to the outlet.

    Ortz is not the first teacher from Wilmington Area High School to have an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student. Jonathan Priano, the school’s band and former music teacher, was also accused of misconduct, New Castle News reported. Priano allegedly tickled female students’ feet and had “close, personal relationships with them,” according to the outlet. Priano’s case is pending, with a pre-trial hearing set for June 29.

    Ortz is currently being held in a Lawrence County jail with a hearing set for May 25, the New York Post reported.”

    This is most of The New Year’s Eve Gang

    This group of precious seniors have known each other mostly since childhood & shared many of life’s adventures, church, scouting, school, sports, weddings, vacations, & life. We used to go up to Bill & Nancy’s farm (white hat & light blue jacket near back) in the Summer to bring in the hay & the Fall to bring in the wood to heat their house.

    At the farm, since I was the oldest of 16 stair-step kids from these 5 couples I was blessed to get some extra privileges earlier than did the younger kids, like driving the tractor pulling the hay wagon, driving the pickup w/ loads of wood, & getting to stay over for an extra week of work on the farm, sometimes w/ the next oldest girl, Susan.

    There is Much love & history in this photo!

    Dad, Mom, Shirley (her husband Joel was the photographer so not pictured), Carrie & Ken (my godparents, we vacationed with them for a week practically every Summer of my childhood), Bill, Phil, Nancy (Bill’s wife), & Marsha (Phil’s wife).

    There is a wide range of viewpoints here: 2 very conservative couples, 2 very liberal, & 1 more middle of the road, leaning liberal. Most are solid Christians!

    Their lives & enduring friendships filled with love & laughter have enriched Many people’s lives, including All of their children!

    These people represent God’s tremendous blessing in my life!

  50. Back from my Wallie World trip and visit to Michael – he gave me some of his leftover crockpot chicken to try and see if I like the sauce. And I visited Glen so I have an appetite again! Yeah!

    I had a cool experience in the parking lot at WM. As I was getting ready to get into my truck, a young light black or Hispanic guy approached me with a clipboard and asked if I wanted to sign his petition, which was to require Voter ID to vote! Hell yes I’ll sign it!!! I told him about my sojourn with MM petitions and told him the first to sign was a 93 year old woman. He was really surprised! I was so pleased to see a young person out doing this so I complimented him and said I was proud of him, that we needed to get more young people involved. He said, “We are the future!” I replied that he certainly is and it will be up to them to save our Republic.

    I was so impressed! I asked if he was from here and he said, no, NY – I replied that now was a darned good time to not be in that cesspool. I then shook his hand and again told him how pleased I was, and told him about how many petitions I got signed just be-bopping around Plainview, not even going door-to-door. He sounded interested in coming up here and I told him there were 5 or 6 nearby towns where he could go, too. Altogether pleasant encounter!

    I picked up some plants – a beautiful cream and peach Calla Lily and some purple Petunias – 4 dark purple and 4 light purple. I’ll put those in the 3-tier planter that Michael gave me, with the Lilly in a big pot just to the right of it, under one of my windows. Five more pots to fill – I think that’s all I’ll do this year.
