The Pond Monster

nessie

Okay, OUR pond monster wasn’t quite this glorious or famous…but what an adventure!

We begin the tale on an average evening in April here in the Pennsylvania mountains, where an…ah…older couple have just finished their dinner and are doing the dishes, looking out at their quaint little pond.

not us by the way

Suddenly my husband notices a “black spot” on the pond and points…”What’s that, do you think?” I respond that i haven’t a clue. Since it was getting darker and there are no lights out near the pond and, of course, we wanna veg for the evening, we agree it’s nothing. Watching Third Rock from the Sun on dvd, laughing about aliens from another planet, makes us forget all about whatever is IN the pond.

In the morning, we continue our daily lives as though nothing happened the night before-no mysterious sighting in the pond. I do laundry, have coffee, peruse my favorite websites. Hubby gets his coffee and heads to his home office to begin his day.

I start to do the breakfast dishes and notice it’s raining…and my gaze wanders to the pond…the THING is still there…IN THE SAME SPOT. In our little pond, we have 2 outfall pipes to keep the water level as consistent as possible (droughts notwithstanding). Water enters the pond from the left (from my vantage point) via a waterfall and the outfall pipes are directly across the pond to the right. The THING in the pond is in the direct path of the incoming water but is NOT being drawn to the outfall pipes!

All at once, the rain becomes heavier…and as i watch, the THING in the pond moves! Not toward the pipes, but towards me! Well okay, it’s still in the water but it’s moving towards the pond’s edge. I call out to hubby that I’m going to investigate!! He laughs–imagine–he laughs! “It’s probably dirt or leaves or something.” I grab the binoculars and I see 2 white spots on the black THING–I yell–“IT’S GOT EYES!!!!!”

I yank on my rain slicker, grab the rolling pin (the handiest weapon I have in the kitchen) and storm out!

not me, again

I hear hubby laughing behind me as I charge the pond, determined to see what has invaded us! As we near the water’s edge, I can see it has moved even closer and I raise my rolling pin, almost clubbing hubby who now is as intrigued as I about IT. It’s turning in the water…this is just not dirt! Although there appeared to be twigs and leaves entwined together…there is something steering the small dark mass…it turns…and turns… and then we get a look at the driver…

A frog…the biggest darn frog I’ve seen to date around here…but just a frog.

Well, that’s what counts as an adventure around these parts.

    1. Morning, Pat! How funny! A frog with the perfect cover!!!! I’ve never watched 3rd Rock From the Sun but I recognize the actor playing the Father from Harry and the Hendersons! And I think that youngest male actor was in Independence Day. I’ll have to record a few episodes and check it out!

….sigh….I really need to go “out” today, too – I’ve been trying to figure out a way to avoid it or put it off. But…..no way around it, in the end. I need to stock up on Half-and-Half, creamer, yogurt, coffee (gotta have that!), etc. Spend the $ on gas to Norfolk or buy local and spend even more.

the beginning stuff was so much funnier imo because they didn’t “understand” so much of our culture…some of it just gets bizarre later…

  1. FFS…now it’s a paper shortage…that means electronic voting in Nov 2022…will these rat bastards never stop?
    FTA
It’s happening again. For the past month, media outlets and government bureaucrats in both parties have been stirring up fears of election chaos induced by a “paper shortage” that has purportedly dragged on for two years due to “COVID-19.”

That’s just more fake virus news. Graphic paper demands have been declining and paper mills shutting down for decades thanks to the North American Free Trade Agreement, foreign subsidies and increased imports. But truth never stopped agenda-driven Chicken Littles:

“A paper shortage is looming over the 2022 elections. Seriously,” Politico warned two weeks ago.
“Worldwide paper shortage causing concerns for balloting ahead of midterm elections,” Detroit station WDIV trumpeted.
“Midterm mess: States grapple with poll worker and paper shortages,” CNN intoned.

The American Forest and Paper Association has tried to un-fan the media-generated flames of fear. “There is no reason to panic,” the association’s Terry Webber assured Americans last week, as long as election officials plan ahead.

But mark my words. This “paper shortage” propaganda will be used to further cement the Soros family-spearheaded push to hackable, paperless electronic voting systems, including Dominion, which covers 37% of voters. The Colorado state Senate just passed a bill, SB22-153, that would reportedly mandate electronic voting machines in any county with more than 1,000 residents. The measure is backed by radical leftist Secretary of State Jena Griswold, a recipient of Soros campaign cash who fronts a Soros-funded association for Democrat Secretaries of State—and who has launched a political and legal vendetta against Mesa County clerk Tina Peters and Elbert County clerk Dallas Schroeder for preserving Dominion server hard drives.

we have big frogs in the pond…but this one was bigger than my fist!
we find the smaller ones everywhere there’s shade…but the bigger ones hang around the pond. when we go out to feed the fish, we can see them jump from the rocks on the banks back into the pond and the small guys sit on the water lily pads.

  6. disney is evolving…can probably bear the boycott of parents…
    FTA
Disney isn’t for kids anymore. Its movie business is dominated by Marvel blockbusters. Half of Disney+ subscribers, its big bet on the home streaming future, are adults with no children.

    What about the theme parks?

60% of Disneyland visitors were adults with no children. Only 36.7% of Disney World visitors had children under 18. The largest demographic for the theme parks, like the movies, are millennials. They are also members of the fandoms who are likeliest to spend money on licensed merchandise, and on toys and movie tie-ins that are Disney’s bread and butter.

And Disney is rapidly adapting with theme parks and resorts that emphasize its Marvel and Star Wars properties more than classic fare. Its Galactic Starcruiser hotel, aimed at Star Wars fans, costs $4,809 for two adults. Why bother with kid stuff when you can sell $13 beers?

    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/04/lawrence-sellin-second-american-civil-war-underway/

The confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to Supreme Court is only historic in the sense that she is an illegitimate justice, nominated by an illegitimate occupant of the White House, and a nomination in violation of U.S. law prohibiting hiring people on the basis of race and gender. She is also a Groomer, friendly to pedophiles and child pornographers, and placed on the Court to normalize that behavior.

    1. I have returned from Wallie World, as well. I really like to shop local but the price savings simply can’t be denied. Plus I incorporate other stops while I’m in the neighborhood, including stopping to chat with Michael. Thankfully, he is back in a really good space these days. He has been on various meds for many, many years, like Prozac. He has finally gotten himself off of almost everything now and is in a much better place.

There was a dirth of half-and-half and some bare spots in the creamer and yogurt cases as well. But I was able to get exactly what I needed and spent less than I had anticipated. I needed to replenish my flax seed and found a mix of flax, chia and hemp – figured it can’t hurt! It was busy – only 2 self-check out lanes open but it moved quickly. Nary a mask to be seen!

I figured up the $$$ – I got enough yogurt, creamer, and half-and-half for 4 weeks. Including the gas, the approximate total cost of those items was $38.09 at WM. Had I bought it all here, the total would have been $49.76. I’ll still get the bananas and strawberries locally, tho – they get deliveries twice a week and they are fresher, for about the same cost.

Judge: New York City Illegally Canceled Trump Contract (thegatewaypundit.com)

A state Supreme Court judge ruled Friday that the city did not have the right to cancel Trump’s contract to run the Ferry Point Golf Course. Mayor Bill de Blasio had nixed the deal after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, arguing that Trump would not be able to attract golf tournaments.
In her decision and order filed on Friday, Justice Debra James said there was nothing in the contract that required a tournament — only that the city would share in any proceeds. That means either Trump gets to continue to run the course, or the city needs to pay him to leave. Trump’s son Eric said they’ll stay.

    FTA
The purpose of the alleged scheme — which reportedly lasted for years — is not yet known. But sources told CBS News this week that “investigators are looking into the possibility that the two suspects have ties to Iranian intelligence,” including “the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps or the Quds force.”

  13. truckers in Canada fighting back…legally
    FTA
MONTREAL — The Canadian government trampled on fundamental human rights with its COVID restrictions, then overreached on dealing with the Freedom Convoy and must now answer to numerous lawsuits, including one by a former premier, says a well-respected constitutional lawyer.

Speaking on Montreal lawyer Viva Frei’s Youtube channel on March 25, Keith Wilson noted that the mischief charges against his client and convoy leader Tamara Lich, will not be successful. She counselled truckers to move in order to comply with police demands, not to block emergency lanes, he said.

Wilson is also a lawyer for former Newfoundland Premier Brian Peckford, who is suing the federal government for breaching the charter of rights by preventing unvaccinated people from leaving the country or getting on a bus, train or ship.
“Obviously we are going to be able to establish Charter breaches,” Wilson said, adding that the government restricted mobility, security of the person and freedom of conscience.”

Wilson said he would not be able to live with himself if he hadn’t helped the Freedom Convoy when he got the call for help from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms on Feb. 1.

“I have been so concerned about the direction of our country,” he said. “I have been so fundamentally concerned about the trampling of civil liberties and the lost of rights and the overreacting to COVID. I have been so concerned about the future for my children, deeply, deeply concerned, and was inspired by what the truckers were doing.”

Wilson also clarified that the Freedom Convoy protest was not illegal at any point, even though Prime Minister Trudeau called it illegal, and big media went along with it.

In fact, an Ontario supreme court judge sided with the convoy. When an injunction against honking horns was declared, the court also stated that “provided the terms of this Order are complied with, the defendents and other persons remain at liberty to engage in a peaceful, lawful and safe protest.”
