What’s Cooking?

We’re in the kitchen today making one of my favorite side dish recipes–Vegetable Pizza. (We don’t make a hot meal for Easter; we have ham sandwiches and plenty of side dishes and this is a family staple.)

Vegetable Pizza

Preheat oven to 350*. Unroll 2 packages of Pillsbury crescent rolls and press the dough into a ungreased cookie sheet, patting the dough seams together. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside to cool.

While the crust bakes, in a medium sized bowl, combine the following with a mixer:

8 oz softened cream cheese

1 package (dry) Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix

1 cup cottage cheese (small curd)

3/4 cup mayo

chopped scallions to taste (i use a dash of onion powder instead)

Mix well and refrigerate for at least an hour. Then spread on cooled crust.

In a separate bowl mix the following diced vegetables:

1 cup cauliflower

1/2 cup green pepper

1 cup broccoli

2-3 medium tomatoes

Spread the diced vegetables over the cream cheese mixture covered crust. Refrigerate. Enjoy!

Till next time…Mangia!

Smart man but my cynical side (which is currently in charge) is rearing it’s ugly head again…..all the State laws in the world won’t matter diddly squat unless the laws that kick in under a “National Health Emergency” are eliminated FIRST! The States need to step up and take their 10th Amendment powers back!!!!

        1. We had a corn overstock situation, IIRC and not all plants can be grown successfully everywhere. Some had high hopes when the AG department re-legalized the growing of hemp. But, as usual, they made it far too complicated and buried in unfathomable rules so that never really took off.

I’m really not up on the details of the issue but I don’t see it as being a lot different than using the land for plants to make fake meat……instead of the real thing. They subsidize all kinds of things and yes, I would prefer nothing be subsidized with our tax $$$’s. But again, that is straying into a category – finance – about which I have ZERO understanding.

We are living in an alternate world, folks. When a lawyer working for a top Democrat operative admits that she swore under oath that the voting machines in Georgia switched votes from one candidate to another—and this is the first you’re hearing about it, while the media and their allies in the Democrat Party have DEMONIZED Mike Lindell and Matt DePerno for almost two years for saying the same thing—there is a serious problem with the truth in our nation!

At today’s press briefing, Fox News’ Peter Doocy referenced the report and told Psaki, “Our team in Texas is saying that you guys are starting to give smart phones to border crossers hoping that they’ll use the phones to check in or be tracked border.”

“Which part of that is supposed to deter people from crossing illegally into the states?” Doocy wondered.

Psaki shot back, “Well I think, you of all people, since you’ve asked me a range of questions on this topic over a range of time, would recognize that we need to take steps to ensure that we know where individuals are and we can track and we can check in with them.”

  7. Flight attendants suing the current administration over mask mandates–saying they are not policemen, the fines were not laws passed by congress.
    entire article

Flight attendants suing the Biden administration over its mask mandate on airplanes say they were “weaponized” during the COVID-19 pandemic to “be mask enforcers.”

“Transportation employees have been weaponized by the federal government to enforce this unlawful mandate,” flight attendant Lisa Williams told “Just the News – Not Noise” on Wednesday.

She is part of a group of nine flight attendants suing to end President Joe Biden’s mask mandate on planes, which she says has “created a really hostile environment for all of us.”

Flight attendant Jeremy Ivanovskis, who is also part of the lawsuit, told editor-in-chief John Solomon and co-host Amanda Head that he agrees with Williams that “the flight attendants were weaponized to be mask enforcers.”

The federal transportation mask mandate, which has been in effect since Feb. 1, 2021, is in place until April 18, when the administration will review it. The Transportation Security Administration has issued hundreds of fines over the last year to people who were not wearing masks, The New York Times reported.

“These aren’t laws passed by Congress. We’re not law enforcement. We’re not doctors, and we’re not lawyers,” Ivanovskis said.

He did not enforce the mask mandate because he feels that it is “unconstitutional,” he said.

Williams said that some flight attendants “just want to be a policeman.” She joked that they “chose the wrong career apparently.”

“We’re not going to comply anymore,” Ivanovskis said. “It’s unconstitutional. Everything Joe Biden and the administration – including Anthony Fauci and all these unelected bureaucrats – are doing is unconstitutional. Unconstitutional, unlawful and we will not comply. We have to take our freedom back.”

  8. hmmmm…if we don’t like what SCOTUS rules, we can ignore it…so says dems these days…this is always how obummer ruled. so there’s no doubt who’s in charge now.
    entire article

Former think tank VP for Research and current NY Times contributor Will Wilkinson is pushing a new favorite idea of the Left. If you don’t like the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, just ignore it.

Democrats have been doing that or circumventing it for some time, but they’re stepping it up.

Any time Democrats don’t get what they want, it’s an “erosion of Democratic norms” and justifies ignoring the rule of law and norms while completely changing the system.
This is what he wrote in a series of three tweets:

If SCOTUS rules on regulation without a hearing or argument, the administration should simply ignore it and state that, in the absence of a normal process judicial review, it sees the court’s judgments as advisory but not binding.

The court famously has no enforcement authority. It’s authority is based in acceptance of the court’s legitimacy. But it can’t do whatever the hell it wants however it wants and expect deference. executive ought to brush off the court’s junta-like attempts to rule by edict.

When the court behaves in a transparently political way, it deserves political pushback.

Who decides if they’re political – him?

A Professor at Georgia State named Eric Segall commented, saying he made the same case last week.
In the article he linked to the tweet, he writes:

There is one possible reform which, though rarely discussed, might work and which also has a solid foundation in American history. Perhaps it is time for the people and our elected leaders to threaten to ignore the Court when it intrudes into governmental policy where it simply does not belong. Although this suggestion sounds radical, it has a strong democratic pedigree and might be the only tool available to the American people to weaken our dysfunctional highest Court.

Segall is talking about ignoring the rule of law in favor of some random discussions on the issue over the course of our nation’s history.

The Left bypasses Congress and now they’ll bypass the Supreme Court of the United States.
    PEN AND PHONE

This is the pen and phone approach of the Obama administration which is currently reconstituted in the Biden administration.

The Center for American Progress is funded by George Soros and co-founded by John Podesta. The Center laid out the 2010 blueprint for the use of executive orders, rulemaking, agency management, et al, to circumvent Congress in the organization’s definitive report, The Power of the President, Recommendations to Advance Progressive Change.

To quote Mr. Podesta, “The ability of President Obama to accomplish important change through these powers should not be underestimated.”

Everything they called for is happening now. The plan calls for the President to use rules, executive orders, agency management, and more to circumvent the other branches of government and states’ rights.

      1. Yeah, pretty much the same here….we do still have one Godfather’s pizza open, last time I checked. That would be the closest to what I consider to be true deep dish pizza. P Slut isn’t too bad but just not the same.

Remember my friend, Don Buchannon, who took me to the Kennedy Center for Dracula? He is the one who introduced me to deep dish pizza at a small Sicilian pizzeria in Arlington, VA. Tiny little place but ohhhhh, it was heaven!!!!

He is also the only one who was present at our wedding at the JOP office; when he was at WRAMC dying of leukemia, we took HB so he could see her thru the window and also took him a DD pizza.

That was the last time we saw him before he died. His Mom contacted me later to tell me how much our friendship meant to him. He was quite a guy! Also the same one who took sexy pics of me to send to my hubby while he was at Ft. Knox for training.

  10. This morning while enjoying coffee, I noticed a bird sitting on the deck railing with bits of dried grass in it’s beak. Then it flew into our still green, in the stand Christmas tree still on the deck. It looks amazingly fresh and shaking the trunk caused only about 20 pine needles to fall off…so it’s in surprisingly great shape.
however having nesting birds on the deck is a big no no for me…so I will have to ask hubby to move the tree to the yard.
further updates will be forthcoming on this tremendously important issue…LOL

  11. Entire article @ BB: “Businessman David McCormick has been trending upwards in the poll as celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz appears to be in free fall as the primary election is roughly one month away. Two separate polls on the Pennsylvania Republican Senate primary show McCormick in the lead, surging ahead of the celebrity doctor.

The most recent poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies for the McCormick-aligned super PAC, Honor Pennsylvania, which the Washington Examiner first reported, showed McCormick with 22 percent in the poll. In comparison, Dr. Oz only has 16 percent. The poll also showed McCormick in the lead since February and Dr. Oz declining 15 percentage points since January, just before McCormick officially entered the race.

While McCormick and Dr. Oz have traded jabs as the frontrunners, Kathy Barnett, Carla Sands, and Jeff Bartos are also in the race, polling around ten percent. The poll was conducted from March 29 to April 3 with 600 likely voter respondents and a four percent margin of error.

The Examiner reported that the poll indicated that Dr. Oz’s image had fallen since January. His favorabilitly reportedly started at 49 percent and is now at 37 percent, and his unfavorability has gone from 24 percent to 49 percent. Mark Harris, a strategist with the McCormick-aligned super PAC, told the Examiner that Dr. Oz “has a 49% unfavorable image, and only 17% of those polled think he’s a conservative,” said Harris. “That is a very bad place to be in a GOP primary.”

A Fox News poll conducted in a joint effort with the Democrat polling firm Beacon Research and Republican polling firm Shaw & Company Research in early March, showed a similar trend, with McCormick in the lead. McCormick showed 24 percent in the poll, while the celebrity doctor showed 15 percent. The other candidates — Barnett, Carla, and Bartos — hovered between six and nine percent.

The Fox News poll was conducted from March 2 to 6 with 960 Pennsylvania Republican primary voters and a three percent margin of error.”

EXCERPT: “Authorities say a Florida man was arrested after he called 911 and requested a deputy “test the methamphetamine” he purchased, worrying it was actually bath salts.

Thomas Eugene Colucci, 41, called sheriff’s deputies to a home in Spring Hill around 7:00 p.m. Thursday, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said in a press release. When deputies arrived at the scene Thursday, Colucci told them that after using a bit of methamphetamine he purchased from a man at a bar, he believed it was bath salts, according to the HSCO.
    ————————-
He has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, the HCSO said. His bond was set at $7,000, which is $5,000 for the methamphetamine possession charge and $1,000 each for the paraphernalia charges, online inmate records show.

Colucci was previously arrested in July of 2018 and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, driving under the influence (DUI) .15 or above, DUI damage to property or a person, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, online court records show. Prosecutors declared the first three charges “Nolle Prosequi,” while he was convicted on the DUI damage to property charge and leaving the scene of an accident charge and sentenced to one year or probation, court records show.

Under common law, prosecutors use a Noelle Prosequi “to declare voluntarily ending a criminal case after the filing of formal charges but before the case could be dismissed by the court or a verdict could be rendered at trial,” the Sammis Law Firm, based in Tampa, Florida, noted.

The sheriff’s office welcomed any other individuals questioning the legitimacy of their illegal narcotics to reach out to the HCSO for testing, which “is pleased to provide this service, FREE of charge.”

  14. Entire article @ FB: “More than 80 cafeteria workers on Capitol Hill are set to lose their jobs because of a drop in revenue stemming from fewer staffers working in person. On Friday, Restaurant Associates, the contractor that runs the Senate cafeterias, announced that 81 employees will lose their jobs following a loss in business during the pandemic. The union representing the workers called on lawmakers to help save their jobs before the end of the week, when senators leave Washington, D.C., for recess.

Sen. Mike Braun (R., Ind.) sent a letter to Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), whose staff maintains telework policies except for a receptionist at his office’s front desk, calling for an end to all pandemic-era policies. Democrats’ reluctance to end COVID-19 policies, Braun wrote, is responsible for the loss of these jobs.

“The Senate restaurants have been acutely impacted by the Senate’s reticence to return to normal,” Braun wrote. “Sales are a fraction of where they were before the buildings were closed to the public. The plan to slowly open the buildings over the next six months will not restore business to normal levels, and as a result, dozens of restaurant employees will unfortunately be laid off this month.”

The Washington Free Beacon Previously Reported on Democratic lawmakers refusing to end their teleworking policies, first put in place at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although much of the country has returned to work, Democrats including Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) still had the luxury of working from home at the end of March.

The workers facing layoffs staged a protest on Wednesday afternoon, calling for protections and greater benefits. Politico Reported on Wednesday that some Democrats have a proposal to save the jobs of the workers, although details remain unclear.

“It is time for the Senate to follow the lead of so many other Americans and return to normal. Doing so will be critical in preventing future layoffs of hardworking men and women who provide service to the Senate,” Braun told Schumer. “I urge you to allow for increased public access to the Capitol building and Senate office buildings and to return to public visitation policies for the Capitol campus as quickly as possible.”

As in the Senate, the Democratic-run House still has yet to return to pre-pandemic practices. Last month, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) extended proxy voting for members until May 14. The Free Beacon previously reported on abuse of the practice by such Democratic lawmakers as Rep. Matt Cartwright (Pa.), who has voted by proxy several times but has also spent thousands of campaign dollars traveling to luxury hotels. During one incident, Cartwright said he was “unable to physically attend proceedings in the House chamber due to the ongoing public health emergency” but spent more than $2,000 on lodging at a “chic Southern style” hotel in Atlanta.

Republicans in both the Senate and House have proposed bills to end all pandemic restrictions nationwide, although none have reached President Joe Biden’s desk.”

“Wow, where is Will Smith when you really need him, huh?” Kimmel said. Smith slapped and screamed at comedian Chris Rock at the Academy Awards after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife. Both Kimmel’s audience and liberals on Twitter applauded the host’s remark.

“Punch not slap!” wrote @DarrenWeinreich, while @NotSarah_Sarah, who calls herself a “liberal af early childhood educator,” wrote, “I’m sure there’s a long line.”

This is only the latest scandal to rock the allegedly progressive Walt Disney Company. ABC anchor Amy Robach said in 2019 that the network “quashed” her exclusive investigation into sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein two years before the Epstein scandal broke. A former ABC producer sued the network last year for sweeping her sexual assault claim against her ex-boss “under the rug.” And dozens of Disney employees have been arrested for child sex crimes, the National Pulse reported on the same day as Kimmel’s remark.

Disney has made the news recently for opposing widely popular Florida legislation that Democrats and the media have falsely called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The law bans teaching kindergartners through third-graders about “sexual orientation or gender identity.”

  16. Entire article @ FB: “A George Soros-backed prosecutor in Virginia played dumb during a recent interview when asked why attorneys are leaving his office in droves, despite reports that his leadership has alienated staff and harmed victims.

In an email reported on Tuesday by a Fox affiliate, a Fairfax County assistant commonwealth’s attorney wrote to his superiors months before he resigned in March that he felt “incredibly overwhelmed and completely unprepared” in his role and had been “making numerous mistakes and missteps due to a lack of experience.” But when interviewed by Fox 5 reporter Lindsay Watts, Fairfax County commonwealth’s attorney Steve Descano (D.) first acted as if he had not seen the email and then said he couldn’t comment on it because he didn’t “have it in front of [him].”

“The idea that somebody would feel untrained or unsupported is not anything that, quite frankly, I’ve heard from anybody in this office,” Descano said.

The Washington Free Beacon reported last week how departures of seasoned attorneys from Descano’s office have saddled mostly unpracticed prosecutors with a growing number of serious criminal cases. Four of the five deputy commonwealth’s attorneys have resigned since Descano took office in 2020. Fox 5 confirmed with his office that at least 29 attorneys have left.

Assistant commonwealth’s attorney Nathan Freier wrote the email following a repeat sex crime offender case in September. The Fairfax County judge overseeing the case said the victim had been molested twice because Descano’s office let the offender easy in a plea deal after the first incident.

“I have reached the end of my mental rope handling this many serious sex cases with limited training and no idea how to handle them,” Freier wrote in the email after the case. “I fear that at best I’ll mess up one or more of these serious cases. At worst, I fear I’ll mess up in a way that will cause me to lose my license.”

Descano told Fox 5 the implication that his office hasn’t rendered justice to victims “hurts me personally.” But in conversations with the Free Beacon, former members of Descano’s office said he has warned prosecutors not to trust victims.

“Don’t listen to victims,” Descano said during one staff meeting on sex crime cases. “They’re overly dramatic.”

Freier graduated law school in 2018 and had only worked for two years as a prosecuting attorney in Danville, Va., before heading to the Fairfax County commonwealth’s attorney’s office. Descano maintained during the interview that Freier is “an experienced prosecutor,” but his office last month blamed Freier’s resignation for its failure to prosecute a case involving head trauma to a two-month-old baby.

Members of Fairfax County law enforcement told Fox 5 the defendant had already confessed to the crime.”

Oh wait, it is personal, especially for people with little kids who this giant corporation has targeted at the behest of the minority of blue-haired, nose-ringed strange-os in its employ. That Walt Disney is likely turning over in his cryogenic chamber beneath the Disneyland Castle is irrelevant. The man who created an American institution is gone, as is said American institution. It’s now a global institution, and the America part is vastly outweighed by the Chi Com component. We used to trust Disney to take care of our kids, not take them over. Well, it made its choice, and it’s time to make ours.

The Republicans must figuratively post Mickey’s soon-to-be public domain head on a pike. This is what happens to corporations that cross us.

And cross us Disney did. It did not have to stick Donald’s beak into Florida’s fight to keep grooming perverts from messing with first graders’ heads. But stick it did, mewling and howling about the unfairness of Ron DeSantis taking the bullseye off our little ones. It promised to use its power to change the law, not just by advocacy but with contributions and veiled threats to pack up and go.

To which Ron the Avenger replied, “Pack your Schiff.”

DeSantis understands the use of power. He’s got it. Disney thought it did. But what Disney really has is a vast array of special breaks that helped make it the hulking monopolistic monstrosity that it is today. Look at Disney World in Orlando, a zillion-dollar resort city made possible by a huge spate of special laws that effectively make it a government unto itself. And look at the copyright laws – Mickey should have fallen out of protection decades ago, but the expiration of the 1920s cartoon rodent IP just kept being pushed back by Congress. It is now going to be open season on Mickey in 2024 unless another extension gets granted.”
