What shall we bake today?

Food 1 Minute

I’m in the mood for cupcakes…Molasses Cupcakes to be exact. These cupcakes have a deep, rich flavor and a crumb topping and do not require eggs or an electric mixer.

Let’s begin…

Preheat the oven to 350* and place cupcake papers in 2 cupcake pans. (this recipe makes 24 cupcakes.)

In a medium bowl place:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup sugar

Using a pastry blender, mix well to create crumbs.

Reserve about 2/3 cup of crumbs for topping. To the remaining crumbs, add:

  • 1 cup molasses (I use Grandma’s Original Molasses)
  • 1 cup very hot water
  • 1 tsp. baking soda

Mix thoroughly with a spoon. Spoon into cupcake liners and using a teaspoon add a small bit of reserved crumb topping to each.

Bake for 20 minutes. DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR!

        1. I’ve heard him make those statements myself in the past. And yes, that is his ultimate goal – everyone must eat the fake meat. This is all wrapped up in their fantasy of returning a huge percentage of the land on earth to the wild and uninhabited by humans. It’s part of the fallacy of climate change and the push for alternative forms of energy, electric cars that no-one can afford, thereby forcing people into high-rises in the cities. They want the land barren of ALL people and no-one person can “own” the land except the government, who controls it all…..the One World Government.

    “Nothing like this has ever happened before,” said Matthew Schneider, a former U.S. attorney from Michigan who is now with Honigman LLP. “It is the biggest fraud in a generation.”

    Most of the losses are considered unrecoverable, but there is still a chance to stanch the bleeding, because federal officials say $600 billion is still waiting to go out the door. The Biden administration imposed new verification rules last year that administration officials say appear to have made a difference in curbing fraud. But they acknowledge that programs in 2020 sacrificed security for speed, needlessly.

    Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who oversees Covid relief spending, told “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt in an exclusive interview that Covid relief programs were structured in ways that made them ripe for plunder.

    “The Small Business Administration, in sending that money out, basically said to people, ‘Apply and sign and tell us that you’re really entitled to the money,’” said Horowitz, the chair of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee. “And, of course, for fraudsters, that’s an invitation. … What didn’t happen was even minimal checks to make sure that the money was getting to the right people at the right time.”

    1. IMO, the highest estimates should be inflated even more!!!! I posted a link at M’s quite some time ago on the payments per state – it is VERY eye-opening! However, whether this is a bigger fraud than SS is, IMO, an open question. The SS fraud has been going on for much, much longer.

Grrrrr…..TV on pause for a few minutes…..one of THE biggest possible dangers for our country, IMO, would be Tulsi Gabbard running against our POTUS in 2024 (taking Patel Patriot at his word that Devolution in it’s entirety is HIS opinion only). She is the only person I can think of who could have a slim chance of giving Trump a run for his money, especially if she manages a flip and moves to the Republican Party in order to run against him in the Primary.

    She is saying ALL of the right words these days and all of the flunkeys are letting her get by with it – they ONLY bring up topics that suit their purpose. In truth, she boils down to a female Bernie Sanders, albeit FAR more intelligent, canny, better trained, with far grander aspirations than he ever dreamed of! She knows the cult mentality – she lived in a cult – her parents were members of this cult as well.

    Of course, now she pontificates on how she has learned and has put that all behind her. Gee, she just fell into young love with the wrong guy! Just like so many of you! It can happen to anyone! Yeah, right…..

I got curious about population growth in Norfolk since I was a young teen, when it totaled about mid-15K….in the last 10 years, Norfolk has lost population 7 out of those 10 years…..business has spread out further, housing and property prices have shot up, so people are moving to the small surrounding towns, like I did, or to the more urban areas, like Omaha and Lincoln, for the pay and more opportunities. Total now is just under 25K with a loss of 63 from last year.

    1. I actually like smaller, quieter, sleepy areas to live in at this point in life. From just outside of Annapolis, Md. My hometown is just another part of the D.C.-Baltimore Borg now, so overgrown and crowded. Moved to E. Tn 8 years ago after my father passed just to get away and start over near my mom. Now it is growing faster than I like. Wife and I are now getting ready to sell a lot I have 2 doors down from our house in order to put a down payment on another place near family in north central Ar. It is so far off the beaten path that by the time it starts to sprall I will be near the end of life…lol. Just want to be away from everything and homestead…

      1. I know the feeling – I really wanted something waaaay out in the country but I also had to be practical and take the long view. The time will come sooner than I’d like that I won’t be able to clear my own driveway, or do for myself in other ways. This choice was kind of a mixture – way down on the very SE end of a town with only around 1K population – away from the town proper – but still within walking distance to a store with support systems nearby.

        I also focused on ADA-compliant in all of my reno choices – handles instead of door knobs, doorways wide enough for a wheelchair, etc., etc. The only thing needed to finish it off would be one or two very shallow ramps. It is still 2 steps up into the house at every entrance.

      2. when we first bought this land, there was only one neighbor who lived here full time (like we planned to do). he was 83 and loved living rurally but when we built the house he was thrilled! he still did his normal things, but if he wanted company, he brought Daisy (his boxer) in his truck up our long driveway and sat and talked. We had him up for holidays and he actually hiked to the top of the mountain with us that first summer.
        Since he died, we sure miss him. It was nice to have a neighbor, even for a little while.

Video, Pat – the guy being questioned by Gaetz is the head of the FBI Cypersecurity Division, i.e., laptops on the internet specifically, of course! Yet he falls back on “not in my job description,” claims to not even know where the laptop is, and other blatant BS over and over and over and over again. Gaetz tries to enter into the Congressional record a digital copy of THE laptop – whoever is at the gavel stammers and stutters while there is consternation rippling thru the dems – after a couple of minutes of silence and dithering, Nadler speaks up and says it will be entered into the record AFTER A REVIEW – same for a copy of the receipt from the computer repair store.

    So I’m cycling the 40 gallon a 10 gallon and a 20 gallon. So I got three up without fish.

    Redoing the seal on the 29 gallon because I’m not spending $80 on a new tank.

    Mom: Have we considered angel fish.

    Me: Damnit I need more tanks. LOL

                You could always do a little 5 gallon. maybe? What’s nice is the small ones need a sponge filter and those are so so SO easy. My only advice is to rewatch the cycle to get the tank ready for fish.

              2. the only experience i have with fish is the goldfish my son would bring home every night from the church festival…they would be dead in the morning…he would win another that evening and the cycle continued for the 3 days of the festival…poor goldfish!
                he won’t even look at a Pepperidge farm cracker to this day!
