  2. dems need something to appeal to the masses in the midterms…so they’re gonna legalize marijuana, work to expunge prior convictions, but then tax sales and give that $$ “back to affected communities”…
    FTA
A Democrat bill to legalize marijuana at the federal level will be set up for a House floor vote as soon as next week. The House Rules Committee announced today that it will hold a hearing regarding the bill on Monday, which is the final step before consideration on the floor. House leaders also placed the measure on a list of bills expected to be considered on the House floor next week.

The bill, authored by Jerry Nadler and titled the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act, would remove cannabis from the list of federal controlled substances and eliminate criminal penalties associated with the drug. It would also impose a federal tax on marijuana sales to fund programs to help communities negatively impacted by the war on drugs.

The measure would further seek establish a process to expunge previous marijuana-related convictions.

“I have long believed that the criminalization of marijuana has been a mistake. The racially disparate enforcement of marijuana laws has only made it worse, with serious consequences, particularly for communities of color,” Nadler said when the House Judiciary Committee advanced the bill last fall.

    1. I have to….prepare yourselves for a rant!!!

I will not accept this whole fallacy of MJ being so very deadly. ANYTHING can be addicting if one has an addictive personality. In my case, the only addiction I have is cigarettes. I have consumed MJ off-and-on for 50 years and never once did I have a problem NOT partaking. Like every other stimulant, after a period of time, your system get’s less and less reactive.

Shall we talk about the withdrawal symptoms people suffer after stopping prescription meds??? Oh, that’s right – THEIR poison chemicals are ok – not God’s natural chemicals – got it! Control and money! This plandemic is a prime example of where THAT leads!

A break is required in order to recalibrate your internal systems with ANY stimulant. The body builds up a resistance so you need more and more and more. HB comes to mind, of course. Had she been using MJ instead of alcohol, she WOULD still be alive today! I am 100% positive on that score.

People go on and on and on about using God’s providence. Well, MJ is a God-given natural plant, too, and can be very, very good for people. So many diseases and ailments can, and should, be treated very effectively, often with few negative side effects. THAT is a very long-running crime against humanity, as far as I’m concerned.

At a minimum, MJ should be treated EXACTLY like alcohol. I think every single individual should have the right to grow it on their OWN property for their OWN personal use – period. Limit the number of plants per individual to avoid it moving into sales territory, if need be. Suitable care should be engaged not to expose other peoples’ children and people should exhibit common respect for one’s neighbors.

Under these circumstances, the cartels would lose much of their power as well, at least as far as MJ is concerned.

      1. in a lot of respects, it’s a lot like alcohol.
many people can have a drink at a bar–eat food, socialize and the effects of the alcohol wear off sufficiently that they are not impaired to drive home.
and then there are those who do not recognize their limits who ARE impaired.
i think it can be regulated just like booze…
but not without the government getting it’s cut…

            1. *sigh* This is why I have no faith in our legal system – the entire judicial system has also been corrupted top-to-bottom. We need to return to Common Law, IMO. There may be some individual tenets that need to be adjusted but THAT puts the power back in The Peoples’ hands. It is almost impossible now for someone to defend themselves – the entire system has become so convoluted (by intent, mind you) that an attorney is an absolute necessity.

As was evidenced by the person who suggested she watch “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.” Or the ones who thought she might enjoy “Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich,” “Impeachment: American Crime Story,” or “Liar Liar” with Jim Carrey.

  5. Entire article @ BB: “Former Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) said Friday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that it is time to “introduce articles of impeachment” against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Boxer was discussing Thomas’ ruling against releasing documents to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol in light of reports his far-right activist wife texted then-chief of staff Mark Meadows about overturning the 2020 presidential election.

Boxer said, “I looked at it from the lens of someone who served on the Bipartisan Ethics Committee in the Senate for many years. I was chair and co-chair for all those years. I would say this, I thought if Clarence Thomas had been a Senator and his wife was texting the president’s chief of staff about overturning democracy, Clarence Thomas, if he were a senator, would have been thrown out of the Senate if he knew about it and did not recuse himself from the case.”

She continued, “Even though in our history only one Supreme Court justice has been impeached, that was in 1804, I still think it would be good for someone to introduce articles of impeachment, to lay out this abuse of power for everyone to see.”

Host Ari Melber said, “You’re saying, though, that your read here is, this is a potentially impeachable issue for Justice Thomas?”

Boxer said, “I believe so if he knew. If he knew about this communication and as someone who has been married for, guess what, 60 years, I can tell you by listening through Ginni Thomas, through the emails, she was hysterical. It’s hard for me to believe she doesn’t mention a thing or two about that.”

  6. I’m going to throw this out there…..let’s talk about sex, shall we? Why is it that so often when I talk about really close male friends, like Michael, most people’s immediate instinct is to focus on the possibility of a “relationship,” which really means sex. It’s like a woman can’t have a “regular” friendship with a man without that aspect always, always coming into the picture.

I was discussing my lack of interest in sex after menopause on the phone with someone and the fact that it was really a relief to me to be free of those urges and that pressure. She concurred – no interest whatsoever after menopause but…..”He wants it all the time! I’m like, “ugh, not again!” – but she complies, each and every time. Why is that??!!?? Why are HIS needs and desires more important than hers?? IMO, that makes a person nothing but a sex slave!

Granted, I have a skewed vision of sex due to my background. Many men have difficulty making the distinction as well – they almost universally have expectations in that regard. Any pressure at all and I’m gone – we are NOT friends! Tom was very cool about it – yeah, when he was drunk he would jokingly bring it up but not in any serious way. Michael is cool about it, as was my friend, David – at least, for a long, long time. We were very, very close – met him when I rented a room to him.

David was kind of unusual among men – he had attended the Seminary for a period of time and considered becoming a priest. Very, very sensitive. The problem there arose when he fell “in love” with me versus the brotherly love I felt for him. It finally became too much for him and, after I took him back to VA, he cut off all contact.

And I understand – I really do – no sense in continuing to suffer on his part. I could not, and would not, ever be what he was really yearning for. I tried to give it a shot once – had a few glasses of wine – gave him a good kiss and said I was willing to try. OMG! He was so excited – off he went to the shower.

Meanwhile, I am feeling “no, no, no” deep inside – it literally felt like kissing my brother – but I didn’t want to hurt my friend – I mean, it’s just sex after all, not going to kill me, right? So I called HB – she was well aware of the situation – and said, “What should I do?? I felt like I was kissing my brother!!!” She made me realize that yes, I could fake it, but that would be manipulating him and downright lying. More than that? It would mean betraying MYSELF!

And that I just couldn’t do. When he came out of the shower, I was honest about how I felt, trying to say it in a way that wouldn’t hurt him. I have to give him the credit he deserves – one comment about “you would feel different if you gave it a chance,” then he dropped it entirely. We continued on as we had for many years before.

Not many men can be that gracious these days! No sex and you’re out of their life – fine by me!!!

    1. Uh-oh! I know we are not overly sensitive and touchy here but I also want to add: couples like you and your hubby, Pat, have THE best of both worlds! Funny, people think just because of my choice re: sex, they seem to think I wouldn’t also appreciate – and, tbh, REALLY envy! – the perfect match you two epitomize!

People think I don’t remember the thrill, the glory, the pleasure shared, the satisfaction and security – all of the many benefits – that kind of relationship entails – oh, yes, I miss that bigly!!! And of all the men with whom I’ve been involved thru the years, Phil is the one man I truly believe I could have built that kind of relationship with…if only….

  7. EXCERPT: “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill on Friday designed to ensure curriculum transparency for parents, promising “education, not indoctrination” in the Sunshine State.

DeSantis, who has deemed it the “year of the parent” in Florida, briefly went over some of the key objectives the Sunshine State has reached over the past few years in its fight to champion parents over bureaucrats. One of the first things he did when he took office, DeSantis noted, was eliminate Common Core; and more recently, that has come to further fruition with the elimination of the Florida Statewide Assessment (FSA). Florida is also “very proud” to have had schools open, even when many places kept them closed.

“And this is just a situation where we either had to do what was right for the kids or subcontract out everything to Fauci, and we were not willing to do that in Florida. People like Fauci were wrong. They wanted these schools closed indefinitely,” DeSantis said.

They also passed the Parents’ Bill of Rights, and part of that, DeSantis said, was not allowing school districts to force mask children.”

  9. Kerry wants to hide details of his staff, budget, travels, etc till AFTER the election in 2024!!!!
    FTA
U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, called the delay “absurd.”

“This is some rich stuff coming from the self-declared ‘most transparent administration ever,’ ” the senator told the Herald Thursday.

Garland wrote in his March 15 memo that agencies should not “withhold information based merely on speculative or abstract fears or fears of embarrassment.” Kerry’s office declined to speak on the record Thursday to explain why it won’t hand over details of the Climate Office to the Herald until Oct. 1, 2024.

“Agencies should continue their efforts to remove barriers to requesting and accessing government records and to reduce FOIA processing backlogs,” Garland said in his memo, adding that “timely disclosure of records is also essential to the core purpose of FOIA.”

Protect the Public’s Trust said it is suing on that statement — pointing out that Kerry’s office has informed the group to expect details of his staffing by Nov. 18, 2024. That’s nearly two weeks after the Nov. 5, 2024, general election.

“The American public is suffering from intense pain at the pump, rising inflation, and the specter of armed conflict in Europe. Yet the State Department is claiming the need to withhold records that could shed light on an office that is run by former presidential candidate and Secretary of State John Kerry until after the next Presidential election,” the watchdog group stated Thursday.

Sullivan, who has called for Kerry to be fired, added the nation’s first U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate must be hiding something.

“The fact that the State Department would claim it will take more than 3 years to fulfill a simple FOIA request is patently absurd. What are they hiding about John Kerry and his team? What’s his budget? How many staff does he have? Where is he traveling to — does he go to Iran? How much taxpayer money is this guy wasting?” Sullivan asked.

“Hard-working families are suffering right now as a result of the actions being taken by administration officials like our Special Climate Envoy, who spends his days jet-setting around the globe pushing an all-out assault on America’s energy sector and dramatically weakening America’s geostrategic advantages. The American people deserve answers,” Sullivan added.

It’s hanging in my BR window, which faces south – sun most of the day. I had it outside and it had exploded – I scalped that bad boy down to one skinny vine not long before I brought it in for the winter. The poll, commissioned by the Partnership for New York City, was conducted by the Morning Consult from February 17 – March 11 and surveyed “9,386 adults working in New York City offices.” The full survey results’ margin of error is plus or minus one percent and the interviews took place online.

The poll discovered that 40 percent of employees who live in Manhattan said “they are thinking about moving away from NYC,” while 48 percent of employees living in other boroughs are also considering leaving the city. Of all those surveyed throughout the boroughs, northern suburbs, and Long Island, 39 percent said they are thinking of moving away.

Just 38 percent said they were “optimistic” about New York City’s future, while 62 percent said they were either “pessimistic” or “unsure.” Of respondents, 84 percent said the city’s conditions have declined since 2020, with 47 percent indicating they have “greatly worsened” and 37 percent reporting they have “somewhat worsened.”

A whopping 94 percent of participants said the city is failing to do enough to address homelessness and mental illness (listed together as one category), while 85 percent said the city is not adequately addressing assaults, and 77 percent noted the city could do more on gun violence. Fifty-seven percent said not enough is being done to curb shoplifting.

Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk wondered aloud on Twitter whether another platform is needed, causing his millions of followers to call for him to buy the social media giant.

“Given that Twitter serves as the de facto public town square, failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy,” Musk tweeted Saturday. “What should be done?”

In a follow-up post, Musk asked, “Is a new platform needed?”

Musk’s 79.1 million followers immediately called on him to either buy Twitter himself or build a new platform.

“Buy this one!!!” Christina Pushaw, press secretary for Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis responded.

“Yes,” former CIA analyst and conservative radio host Buck Sexton tweeted. “Buy twitter or please build one. Save the country from these psycho Silicon Valley libs.”
