Hopefully Filly can weigh in on these must-see Nebraska sites!
Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium

This world-class zoo is famous for its involvement with breeding endangered species from around the world.
Museum of American Speed

Great museum with an amazing collection of automotive history!
Old Market

Omaha preserves its historic place in time in this historic section of town where visitors can stroll along the cobbled streets and explore the many preserved buildings.
The Durham Museum

Beautiful architecture blends with memories of a time gone by at the historic Durham Museum. Opened in 1931, Union Station was built by Union Pacific Railroad as the showpiece to the city of its headquarters. Considered one of Omaha’s most unique treasures, and now an official National Historic Landmark, the station is one of the best examples of art deco architecture in the country. The Durham Museum offers unique, hands-on learning for people of all ages. Enjoy an extraordinary array of permanent exhibits including restored train cars, 1940’s storefronts, HO Model trains, numerous artifacts showing the history of the region and the Byron Reed collection, which includes some of the world’s rarest coins and documents. During your stay be sure to stop by the authentic soda fountain and enjoy a phosphate or malt.
Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge

We parked at Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Headquarters and accessed the bridge from the visitor center.

Welcome back! Company? Yeah! The only one of those sites that I have visited is the zoo. I took Piper on a week-long trip over 10 years ago and that was one of the places we visited. There’s also a children’s zoo in Lincoln. In general, I avoid Omaha like the plague!!! And tbh, I’ve never heard of National Nebraska Day!

Good Morning Filly! Thanks for watching over things!!
My company left a little while ago and now I am getting the house back to normal…lol
I started googling national holidays a while back and it seems there are at least 4 (sometimes 5 ) national state days a month, so I’ve been highlighting them. some have interesting places to see that I would never have known existed otherwise.

Just The News: “President Donald Trump bluntly warned Iran on Sunday in a profanity-laced social post that he will bomb the country’s energy and transportation infrastructure on Tuesday if it does not open the Strait of Hormuz and allow oil tankers to safely pass.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “There will be nothing like it!!! He added: “Open the F**kin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”
Trump had given Tehran a 10-day window to open the Strait as part of negotiations. The warning Sunday came hours after a daring rescue saved a U.S. airman inside Iran who had been shot down on Friday. Trump said the officer, a colonel, was seriously wounded but managed to stay hidden until he was rescued.”

Smoked Deviled Eggs
My personal favorite recipe for using up all those eggs our chickens are producing this time of year. Now… there are recipes online that use a smoker, and people go to all sorts of lengths to smoke the eggs. Me? I’m a simple girl, who hates doing more work than necessary. So, it’s a few drop of liquid smoke for me.
12 Hard-boiled Peeled Eggs, cut in half length-wise and the yolks removed and placed in a separate bowl. Mix together with a hand-held blender or even a blender
Place a small amount of mix into each half. Arrange on a platter. Smoked paprika for garnish. (Hint: whatever your favorite recipe for making deviled eggs or egg salad, consider adding a 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke, you won’t be disappointed).
Cooking hard-boiled eggs: Bring 3 quarts (2.8L) water to a boil in a large pot. Carefully lower eggs into pot and continue to boil for 30 seconds. Cover tightly, reduce heat to low (water should maintain a bare simmer), and continue cooking for 11 minutes. Immediately place eggs in a bowl of ice water and allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before peeling under cool running water.”

“From Accuweather.com – Florida faces one of its driest periods in decades, with severe drought gripping most of the state, fueling wildfires and raising concerns as rainfall remains limited heading into the early stages of the wet season.
Nearly all of Florida is experiencing drought, and while some areas will have an uptick in showers, thunderstorms and humidity, others may receive little to no rain in the coming weeks.
More than 72% of Florida is experiencing Level 3 or Level 4 drought, the two most severe categories, according to the United States Drought Monitor. River and stream levels in the northern third of the state are very low.
“The current drought is rivaling that of the period from 1998 to 2002,” AccuWeather Vice President of Forecast Operations Dan DePodwin said. “There are about 8 million more people in Florida now than around the start of the new millennium, putting additional strain on available water supplies.”

“I wonder how Packers fans feel about this. He announced this on ‘Transgender Day of Visibility,’ which was supposed to be on Easter Sunday, of all days. Evers called the proposed bills “anti-trans.” Many see them as safeguards for children, sports, bathrooms, and parents. Lawmakers aimed to fix key issues:
• Schools must tell parents if a kid wants to change gender – no secrets from moms and dads.
• Stop boys who say they are girls from girls’ sports – boys are stronger by nature.
• Protect girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms – only girls allowed for safety and privacy.
• Ban gender lessons too young; no drugs or surgeries for kids until grown.
Parents want to lead. What they don’t want is for schools to hide things from parents and confusing their children. Evers’ veto takes family power away. Girls lose in sports and privacy when boys join.
Saying “hell no” on Easter feels like a slap in the face for all Christians, Jews and moderates. Trump and Republicans back these protections nationwide. It’s only twisted fuckwad liberals like this guy who keep chasing this rainbow coalition of bad ideas…”

“An exceptional Bronze Age shield is returning to Scotland for the first time since it was moved to London in 1791. It has been loaned to National Museums Scotland where it will join five of the Bronze Age shields in its permanent collection in the new exhibition Scotland’s First Warriors.
The shield was discovered in Beith, North Ayrshire, around 1779 during peat harvesting on Luggtonrigge Farm. It was found in a ring with five or six other bronze shields, suggesting they had been deposited together for ritual or ceremonial purposes.
The shield is made of a single sheet of bronze about 27 inches in diameter and just .5mm thick. It has a central boss with a handle riveted to the back of it. There were also two tabs on the back to which a shoulder strap would have originally been attached. It is decorated with 29 concentric rings of small studs bosses alternating with ribs. It dates to ca. 1300-1100 B.C.
There are only 22 shields of this type known, almost all of them found in Britain. One of the 22 was found in Denmark, but archaeologists believe they were produced in Britain and Ireland. The shields were made in a complex process that required hundreds of rounds of hammering, heating and cooling. It required a high level of expertise and can only have been achieved by specialists with years of experience.” Via the always good History Blog.

Fox News has the receipts. Democrats have a network of organizations BEING PAID to protest and create ICE riots
https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f6a8.svg More than a QUARTER OF A BILLION DOLLARS has been funneled to dark money groups to pay for protests in America
The nationwide protest signs are being FUNDED that you see at every protest
“We continue to expose the web of collaborators driving the Democrats to the brink of insurrection against a duly elected president
From the socialist communist organization spearheading street activism, to entertainers reciting their memorized talking points, to the activists masquerading as journalists, and of course to the politicians stoking the resistance, same politicians who hope to ride the wave to abolish ICE altogether, This is a sophisticated operation.
It’s designed not only to drive Democrat turnout in the midterms, but to smash capitalism, the rule of law, and American sovereignty. And who’s paying the bill for all this agitation?
“One individual who’s getting a lot of attention is a multimillionaire named Neville Roy Singham. He subsidizes the PSL, the Party for Socialism and Liberation we told you about last night. And their activism that’s happening on the streets of Minneapolis and probably elsewhere.
Now, according to reports and congressional probes, PSL and another group of agitators called the People’s Forum are largely subsidized by Singham — he’s funneled more than a quarter of a billion dollars to dark money organizations here in the United States”
“This is absolutely an Astroturf movement and it is well funded, well organized and well coordinated. I stood today in Chinatown in Washington DC — foot soldiers from the Party for Socialism and Liberation emerged with a wagon full of their protest signs and the familiar markings of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. They literally said to each demonstrator that was standing there waiting patiently for them, Do you want to sign” (Shown in clip, you’ll recognize them)
“They’ve been part of these anti-ICE movements for months now and have yet to face any sort of consequences for that, but helping to organize with the whistles, blocking traffic, going through this training, in some cases leading this training.”
