Wisconsin State Flower: Wood Violet

Wood Violet is a short-stemmed herbaceous perennial plant that is native to eastern North America. Wood violet flowers are irregular in shape and the flowers are deep blue/purple or violet, and sometimes almost white with blue markings. Wood violet flowers have side petals having beards or tuffs near the center of the flower. There are 5 petals in which lower one is longer and spurred, and the 2 petals having fine hairs.  Other names include: common blue violet, common meadow violet, purple violet, woolly blue violet and hooded violet.

Wood Violet, also known as Viola papilionacea, is a charming wildflower commonly found in North America. With its distinctive purple petals and butterfly-like shape, this flower not only adds a vibrant touch to your garden but also brings a natural and serene atmosphere.

Wood Violet is celebrated for its charming and delicate flowers, which display a striking range of colors. The blooms are typically deep purple, lending a rich, royal hue to garden landscapes. However, variations in color are not uncommon, with some flowers showcasing light lavender tones that bring a soft, pastel touch. In rarer instances, Wood Violet produces pure white blossoms, which offer a stark and elegant contrast against its lush foliage.

The flowers consist of five petals arranged in a unique butterfly-like formation, a characteristic that gives the species its name “papilionacea,” derived from the Latin word for butterfly. The lower petal, known as the “lip,” is slightly larger and often marked with delicate, darker purple veins that act as nectar guides for pollinators. The two lateral petals sometimes bear tiny tufts of hair, adding subtle texture to the flower’s appearance.

Accompanying the vibrant blooms are the plant’s heart-shaped leaves, which are a rich, glossy green. These leaves grow in a basal rosette pattern, meaning they emerge from the base of the plant and spread outward, creating a dense, leafy ground cover. The scalloped edges and smooth surface of the leaves enhance their visual appeal, while their lush green color beautifully offsets the vividness of the flowers. Wood Violet naturally thrives in woodland habitats, where it enjoys the dappled sunlight filtering through tree canopies. It prefers partial shade, as direct sunlight can cause the delicate petals to fade or wilt. Ideal growing conditions include consistently moist, well-drained soils rich in organic matter, mimicking the humus-rich forest floors from which it originates. The plant is particularly well-suited to temperate climates, showing remarkable resilience to cold weather and even surviving light frosts

This species is highly adaptable and can flourish in a variety of soil types, although it prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH levels. It spreads easily by rhizomes, forming lush mats of greenery and vibrant flowers. Gardeners appreciate this characteristic for its usefulness as a ground cover in shaded garden corners, under deciduous trees, or along shaded pathways.

In addition to its ornamental value, Wood Violet plays an important ecological role. It provides nectar for early-season pollinators, including bees and butterflies, and serves as a host plant for the larvae of certain fritillary butterflies. Its ability to naturalize and spread effortlessly makes it a low-maintenance yet impactful addition to native plant gardens and woodland landscapes.

A STUNNING new report shows just how broken Obamacare’s subsidy system is:

      • 23 of 24 fraudulent applications were approved
      • 18 ARE STILL receiving coverage
      • TENS OF THOUSANDS of duplicate SSNs used
      • $94 million paid for DEAD people

And Democrats want to extend this system with NO reforms.

    1. Patel commended FBI Omaha, Nebraska, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Drug Enforcement Administration, and other partners for their work that resulted in Soto’s arrest.

“This admin is taking a whole of government approach to dismantling MS-13 and their presence within the country,” he said. MS-13, also known as Mara Salvatrucha, was designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the State Department in February.

In a Dec. 9 statement, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen welcomed the arrest of Soto, who he said was illegally in the country and living in the city of Grand Island.

“Cuadra Soto, a leader of the terrorist MS-13 gang and Honduran assassin, entered the United States illegally in 2022 under Biden’s watch—eventually obtaining a California driver’s license before establishing a residence in Grand Island,” Pillen said.

      1. There is a ton of Hispanics that moved into Grand Island. In 2009, I went to GI to meet a woman who was selling baby clothes (right before Piper was born). I was astonished at how it had changed since I worked on the racetrack there. I went into a restaurant and found that no-one spoke English – all Hispanic, including the menus!!!

Tens of thousands of Afghan evacuees, including the gunman charged in the shootings of two National Guard members, killing one just blocks from the White House, were eligible for a slew of benefits, including housing and medical at the expense of the American taxpayer.

Following the pullout of American forces from Afghanistan in 2021, the Biden administration admitted nearly 200,000 evacuees between 2021 and 2023, including two recently arrested on terrorism charges. Through various reports and testimony by government officials, it was revealed that many of the Afghan nationals couldn’t be properly vetted.

Afghans who entered the U.S. on a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV), under a special immigrant parole (SQ/SI), and were granted humanitarian parole as part of the Biden Administration’s Operation Allies Welcome were eligible for over a dozen taxpayer benefits, many continuing four years later.

The benefits include: Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women, Infants and Children (WIC), HUD Public Housing and Section 8 housing vouchers, emergency Medicaid, Affordable Care Act health plans and subsidies, full-scope Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), federal student aid and Pell grants, REAL ID, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act services, refugee resettlement programs through the Office of Refugee Resettlement and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), according to the National Immigration Law Center.

For those who didn’t qualify for SSI or TANF, refugees were eligible for up to 12 months of Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) through the ORR.

In addition, many refugees qualified for employment assistance through Refugee Support Services, which included: childcare, transportation, “employability services,” job training and preparation, job search assistance, placement and retention, English language training, translation and interpreter services and case management, according to the Administration for Children and Families Office of Refugee Resettlement.

The ORR also noted that “some clients may be eligible for specialized programs such as health services, technical assistance for small business start-ups and financial savings.”

Many refugees also qualified for “immigration-related legal assistance” to assist them “on their pathway to obtaining a permanent status.”

  3. Just The News: “Trump administration border czar Tom Homan said this week that the Department of Homeland Security is investigating whether Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar committed immigration fraud by allegedly marrying her brother.

President Donald Trump and his allies have claimed Omar’s first husband, Ahmed Elmi, is actually her brother, who she married for immigration purposes in 2009. The couple divorced in 2017 and no DNA evidence has supported the claim that they are brother and sister.

Homan told Newsmax that he was investigating whether Omar committed immigration fraud and is thereby in the country illegally. Omar first came to the United States with her family in the 1990s, according to her Congressional biography.

“We’re pulling the records, we’re pulling the files,” Homan said Monday. “We’re looking at it … I’m running that down this week.”

Homan also said the DHS is conducting an extensive review of visa fraud within Minnesota’s Somali community, which comes after the department claimed 50% of visas in Minnesota are fraudulent.

“President Trump has instructed us to go down, and we’re going to deep dive all of this, and we’re going to hold people accountable,” he said.”

    Birthright citizenship well explained…..
    From X…..
“Birthright citizenship now sits before the Supreme Court.
After the Civil War, we guaranteed due process and equal protection with the 14th Amendment.
The framers meant birthright citizenship for the children of freed slaves.
“Subject to the jurisdiction” has teeth.
It means allegiance to the United States.
Ambassadors’ kids born here? No citizenship.
Invading armies’ kids born here? No citizenship.
American Indians did not fall under U.S. jurisdiction for this clause.
    Congress granted citizenship by statute.
So ask the question: if American Indians did not get automatic citizenship under the Fourteenth, how do illegal aliens get it?
    Answer: they don’t”

  5. Just The News: “Rep. Glenn Grothman says the National Defense Authorization Act passed Wednesday by the House contains a little-noticed weapon to cut federal spending and bureaucracy.

The Wisconsin Republican told Just The News the bill now heading to the Senate cuts up to 19% of civilian jobs inside the War Department, saving an estimated $30 billion.

“It appears as though the Department of Defense is going to step up and, like some of the other departments, begin to lay off some employees who are really not necessary in today’s highly technical world,” Grothman said.

The House passed the nearly 3,100-page bill earlier Wednesday in a bipartisan 312-112 vote, and the legislation will now go to the Senate for approval before going to President Donald Trump’s desk for his signature.

Grothman said that one thing Congress and the American people have learned in Trump’s first year back in the Oval Office is how many Defense Department employees are civilians. The congressman said there were 760,000 civilian employees.

“I believe right now, we’ve reduced that number by 18 or 19%. I was able to talk to some of the people in the Pentagon,” Grothman said on the “Just The News, No Noise” TV show. “Their goal is to reduce that figure further … I think one of the things that DOGE exposed is there are a lot of federal employees who maybe aren’t working that hard.

“I think we made a big step in the right direction in Donald Trump’s first year, as far as reducing non-uniform personnel, and I think we have commitments in the second year, there’s going to be a further reduction, which we have to have,” he added.

Grothman said that he believes the Pentagon will continue firing nonessential civilian employees, stating that terminating even 30,000 employees would save Americans approximately $30 billion per year.

“I want to remind your listeners, we’re borrowing 26% of our budget,” Grothman said. “We cannot keep going this way.”

Another major takeaway of the legislation is a section that requires the War Department to turn over “unedited video of strikes conducted against designated terrorist organizations in the area of responsibility of the United States Southern Command.”

The mammoth $900 billion bill also calls for “declassification” and “transparency” related to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, by requiring the Trump Administration’s spy agencies to release their intelligence related to the Wuhan lab that the coronavirus is suspected of being released from in 2019.”

  6. Trump is wrong on this one!!!!

EXCERPT: “…..The proposed executive order, the details of which are not yet known, has faced pushback from conservative governors who have expressed interest in regulating AI locally to protect rights of citizens and ensure its safety.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who just this week proposed an AI Bill of Rights in his state, said that an executive order could not undo state laws on AI under the Constitution.

“An executive order doesn’t/can’t preempt state legislative action. Congress could, theoretically, preempt states through legislation,” DeSantis posted on X on Tuesday. “The problem is that Congress hasn’t proposed any coherent regulatory scheme but instead just wanted to block states from doing anything for 10 years, which would be an AI amnesty. I doubt Congress has the votes to pass this because it is so unpopular with the public.”

Last week, DeSantis unveiled a proposal to implement a “Citizens Bill of Rights for Artificial Intelligence” that would prevent subsidies for big technology companies, allow localities to block data centers, and implement new privacy protections for users. Most importantly, the proposal would block utility companies from charging residents more in order to support the development of data centers.

The proposal is the most wide-ranging from a Republican state so far, but follows a patchwork of regulations and proposals from a variety of both conservative and liberal states. The president’s move to prevent states from implementing AI regulation comes after efforts to enshrine in law a 10-year moratorium on local AI regulations through Congress. Originally, President Trump’s allies tried to slip such a requirement into the One Big Beautiful Bill, but it was later stripped after bipartisan criticism. A similar provision was slated for inclusion in the annual National Defense Authorization Act, but later removed as well.

At the time, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders—President Trump’s former press secretary and close ally—wrote an op-ed criticizing the planned 10-year moratorium on AI regulation in the OBBB, calling it “unacceptable.”

“That Congress proposes to strip away the right of any state to regulate AI is the antithesis of what our founders envisioned when they established our federal system,” she wrote. “As we compete with China, we cannot sacrifice the health, safety and prosperity of our own people. We must curb AI’s worst excesses while also encouraging its growth, which is exactly what states have done through the creation of their own regulatory frameworks.”

But, the Trump administration’s warning about regulation of AI seems aimed at addressing onerous requirements on the table in Democrat-controlled states that could have impacts on the AI industry outside the individual states……”

  7. Just The News: “The Justice Department this week sued the Loudoun County School Board in Virginia, accusing it of violating the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment by enforcing a policy that mandates compliance with gender ideology.

The department accused the school board of violating the rights of two Christian male students by forcing all students to adopt the board’s understanding of gender identity, including its application that affects all students’ use of intimate spaces, including bathrooms and locker rooms.

The two Christian students at Stone Bridge High School’s religious beliefs require them to use the biological pronouns of people and use sex-segregated facilities, the Justice Department claimed in a news release Monday.

“Students do not shed their First Amendment rights at the schoolhouse gate,” Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division said in a statement. “Loudoun County’s decision to advance and promote gender ideology tramples on the rights of religious students who cannot embrace ideas that deny biological reality.”

The lawsuit comes after the school board suspended the two male students for 10 days and required them to turn in a “Comprehensive Student Support Plan,” which it claimed further violates the boys’ rights to freedom of religion.

The school board claimed that the two Christian students’ opposition to a biological female student using a male locker room amounted to “sex-based discrimination” and “sexual harassment.”

  8. “D.C. Appeals Court Upholds Trump’s Prohibition On ‘Trans’ Soldiers In The Military”

The Federalist, By: Shawn Fleetwood, December 10, 2025

Trans flag at a pride event.

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “In a major win for the Trump administration, a federal appellate court upheld the Pentagon’s prohibition on trans-identifying individuals from serving in the military on Tuesday.

In a 2-1 ruling, a three-judge panel for the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals fully paused a March injunction issued by Biden-appointed District Judge Ana Reyes that sought to prevent the aforementioned policy from going into effect. As The Federalist’s Joy Pullmann previously reported, Reyes “identifies as some variety of LGBT, is a longtime Democrat Party donor and, as a lawyer, litigated against the first Trump administration.”

Writing for the majority, Judge Gregory Katsas, a Trump appointee, noted how War Secretary Pete Hegseth “concluded” that adopting a policy prohibiting gender dysphoric individuals from service “would advance important military interests of combat readiness, unit cohesion, and cost control.” Despite the secretary’s consultation of existing data and “more recent studies” to justify the decision, Katsas wrote, the district court “nonetheless preliminarily enjoined the 2025 policy based on its own contrary assessment of the evidence.”

“In our view, the court afforded insufficient deference to the Secretary’s considered judgment. Accordingly, we stay the preliminary injunction pending the government’s appeal,” Katsas wrote, later adding that, “The Hegseth Policy is likely constitutional because it reflects a considered judgment of military leaders and furthers legitimate military interests.”

Katsas was joined in his opinion by Judge Neomi Rao, also a Trump appointee. Meanwhile, Obama-appointed Judge Nina Pillard penned a lengthy dissent, in which she claimed that the government’s adoption of the policy is “based on nothing more than negative attitudes about transgender identity.”

The D.C. Circuit’s ruling marks the second major litigation victory for the Trump administration in its battle over the policy. Back in May, the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily halted a separate lower court injunction that similarly attempted to prevent these standards from being adopted by the military. The decision was 6-3, with Associate Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissenting.

In his Tuesday opinion, Katsas harkened back to the high court’s temporary order as further evidence favoring the Trump administration in the case.

He specifically noted that by granting the government’s request to pause the injunction, the Supreme Court “already has held that the government is likely to succeed on its contention that the Hegseth Policy does not violate equal protection.” He also argued that the high court’s order further “indicates that the government would suffer an irreparable injury if the Hegseth Policy were enjoined pending appellate review of preliminary injunctions.”

At this point, plaintiffs in the case may now seek a full rehearing before the entire D.C. Circuit Court (“en banc” review). They may also ultimately file an emergency application for stay at the Supreme Court, which, as previously noted, has already terminated one lower court blockade on the policy and would likely do so again in separate cases over the same issue.”

    It is an uphill battle.

    PRESIDENT TRUMP’S TRUTH SOCIAL

“Blue Slips” are making it impossible to get great Republican Judges and U.S. Attorneys approved to serve in any state where there is even a single Democrat Senator.

If they say no, then it is OVER for that very well qualified Republican candidate.

Only a really far left Democrat can be approved.

It is shocking that Republicans, under Senator Chuck G, allow this scam to continue.
So unfair to Republicans, and not Constitutional.

I am hereby asking Senate Majority Leader John Thune, a fantastic guy, to get something done, ideally the termination of Blue Slips.

Too many GREAT REPUBLICANS are being, SENT PACKIN’. None are getting approved!!!

  10. article from American Thinker. Jayapal thinks immigrants from Somalia, Latin America, Africa and other countries built our great nation…ah…NO. you guys are a very recent plague.

    article

Washington state Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal recently appeared on MS NOW’s “Ana Cabrera Reports” show to claim that deporting Somalians will hurt America economically. This, in the face of the massive Minnesota scandals involving Somalis and more than a billion dollars in fraud.

What did we here in America do before all the Somalis came here in the past two or three decades?

Oh yeah, we defeated the British and became the strongest, freest, greatest country the Earth had ever known, with more entrepreneurs and inventions to our credit than any other nation.

Yet, now we are being massively defrauded by Somalis (among a few others), more than half of whom are on the public dole. In no way, shape, or form would deporting every last Somali be a negative for the U.S. economy.

Jayapal said: “The majority of Americans across the country, regardless of political party, know that immigrants from all over the world, Somalia, India, wherever they’re from, Latin America, Africa, that immigrants have built this country and make this country what it is today and so Americans are not accepting this.” Sure, Pramila.

Now tell us the one about the three bears.

A Monty Python skit once asked the question, “Did the Romans build Manhattan?” Jayapal’s statement of “fact” was no less ridiculous.

Unless you recall how Somalis built the Hoover Dam. And the Golden Gate Bridge. And our interstate highway system. Which would be weird given that they couldn’t do any of these things back home in Somalia, and, in fact, are unable to build and maintain any kind of a functioning society.

So, did Indians (of the Subcontinent variety) construct the Sears Tower? Did Ethiopians build Hollywood? Are Pakistanis responsible for the Transcontinental Railroad? Did Afghans construct Disneyland? Sea World? Neither Ford, General Motors, Amazon, AT&T, nor Costco was founded and built primarily by “undocumented” immigrants from third world nations.

So, let’s cut the bull***t, Jayapal. The immigrants that came here for most of the first 200 years of our existence came here looking only for a chance, not a welfare check. They came here looking to be an “American,” and only an American. The vast majority were deeply proud when they were granted citizenship. Almost none trashed the country to which they had come. These are the people — Americans — who made the country what it is today.

You, on the other hand, want to make it what it will be tomorrow if people like you get your wish: a failed state.

Just like the one you came from.

    By Miranda Devine, Dec. 10, 2025, 10:22 p.m.

Erika Kirk Discusses Her New Book On "The Sean Hannity Show" at Fox News Channel Studios on December 08, 2025 in New York City.
“This is righteous anger, because this is not OK. It’s not healthy. This is a mind virus,” Erika Kirk told Harris Faulkner on Fox News’ “Outnumbered” of her ghoulish tormentors.Getty Images

EXCERPT: “The cruelty that has been heaped on Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, since his assassination three months ago has been unrelenting. First it was leftist ghouls cheering on his cold-blooded murder, in front of a crowd of 3,000 people at the first stop of his Turning Point USA “American Comeback Tour” outdoors on the campus of Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

The ghouls gloried in the death of the young father of two, mimicked the instant the bullet hit his throat, created T-shirts with his image and gushes of blood to celebrate the moment his voice was silenced.

It could not have been a more public execution. He was shot dead on livestream, with hundreds of cellphones capturing graphic footage of the atrocity. Every member of the TPUSA team was traumatized by what they saw that day and their unsuccessful efforts to save his life.

Sadists and freaks recorded TikToks with millions of views, dancing on his grave. GoFundMes popped up to help the alleged killer, 22-year-old furry lover Tyler Robinson, who is facing 10 felony counts in Utah, including aggravated murder.

By now, conservatives know the left is a vile death cult full of broken people tipped over the edge by social media. But what has been far worse than the leftist haters are right-wing-adjacent grifters and nuts pushing wicked conspiracy theories about Charlie’s murder, pointing the finger at his colleagues, friends and even Erika herself.

These fantasies have been peddled primarily by former prominent TPUSA luminary Candace Owens on her hit podcast, which gets more than 40 million views for her wildest rants. She has claimed Israeli Mossad agents, men in maroon shirts, the US military, Egyptian planes, Jewish donors and the French government are somehow complicit. She endlessly plays videos of that awful day and theorizes about the “exit wound” or lack thereof.

    Just asking questions?

Worst of all, she torments Charlie’s widow by suggesting in a disingenuous “just asking questions” way that Charlie was “betrayed” by the people who loved him most. Her proof? A dream. “I had a very vivid dream whereupon Charlie told me that he had been betrayed.”

She has thrown suspicion on Charlie’s pastor, his chief of staff, his chief operating officer, his spokesman, the camera guy, you name it. She plays clips of their reactions the moment Charlie was shot and claims they looked guilty. She is suspicious that TPUSA supposedly won’t give her their footage of Charlie’s murder that she laughably claims she needs so she can “debunk all these internet conspiracies.”

“Everything about this is wrong,” she said. “I helped to build that organization, so I am almost the perfect person to discern what is normal and what is abnormal.” She also claims: “I’ve chosen to be on the side of goodness and truth no matter what the cost is.”

Her daily tantalizing drip feed of absurdities cashing in on her former friend’s death has made her millions of dollars……”

When U.S. forces boarded the Skipper off the coast of Venezuela, its AIS showed the vessel 560 miles away in Guyana.

Remote Sensing Intelligence told a different story.

The tanker had been conducting GNSS manipulation (spoofing) since October 28th — broadcasting false coordinates while covertly loading barrels of sanctioned crude at Venezuela’s Jose terminal.

This is the new reality of maritime enforcement: as dark fleet tankers become legitimate targets across global waters, cooperative systems like AIS will grow increasingly unreliable.

  16. EXCERPT: “Twelve years ago, in 2013, the Gatestone Institute published an in-depth account of the Muslim Brotherhood’s infiltration operations vs. the U.S. government (written by this author). The vicious outburst of antisemitic Jew-hatred that followed the horrific Hamas atrocities of October 7, 2023, centered alarmingly on America’s university campuses but also was evident in violent attacks against Jews on our streets and at their synagogues.

Much of this was obviously coordinated, orchestrated, and funded by Muslim Brotherhood (MB) front groups such as the National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP) and others—again written about here by this author at American Greatness in May 2025. The broader implications, as noted in that piece, must lead to Hamas and Brotherhood sponsors abroad as well as here at home.

As the new Trump administration came into office in January 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi established the Joint Task Force October 7 (JTF 10-7), whose purpose is to seek justice for the victims of October 7 but also to address “the ongoing threat posed by Hamas and its affiliates” in the homeland. The Department of Justice (DOJ) also set up the Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, led by civil rights attorney Leo Terrell. Clearly, the new Trump administration is aware of and determined to counter antisemitism by going after the organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood that sponsor it. However, it still seems not to have focused on nation-state sponsors, like Qatar and Turkey.

While the DOJ memos refer specifically to Hamas, President Trump’s November 24, 2025, Fact Sheet laid out his intention to designate certain Muslim Brotherhood groups abroad as Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists. Notably, however, the groups so designated were (at least initially) only a select few that have actually engaged in kinetic violence (terrorism).

What remains to be understood is how the Muslim Brotherhood and its myriad front groups across the world—but especially in Western Europe and the U.S.—operate, not as terrorists, but as subversives, intent upon infiltrating and suborning Western Civilization from within.

It is time for an update on the Brotherhood’s operations that are targeted not only against the U.S. Government (USG) and Western Europe, but all of our societal institutions. 17. Just The News: “For the second time in two weeks, the Department of Justice failed in its effort to indict New York Attorney General Letitia James on charges of mortgage fraud.

This time it was a grand jury in Alexandria, Virginia, according to Politico. Last week it was a grand jury in Norfolk, Virginia.

James was indicted by an Alexandria-based grand jury in October, but that was later thrown out when a judge ruled that the lead prosecutor, Lindsey Halligan, had been illegally appointed.”

  18. Just The News: “The Republican-controlled Indiana state Senate voted Thursday to reject the redrawn redistricting map that could have potentially meant an increase of two GOP U.S. House members in the 2026 midterm elections.

The defeat of the map represents a setback to President Donald Trump who had strongly advocated for its passage by the state Senate. Also, there have been multiple visits from Vice President JD Vance and calls from Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (La.), attempting to persuade enough members of the Senate to pass the redrawn map.

Though the GOP-controlled state House had approved the map last week, according to NBC News, it failed in the state Senate by a vote of 31-19.”
