History of the John List House
The John List House became famous for a terrible family murder on November 9, 1971. Here, John List, an accountant and Sunday school teacher, killed his family. This included his wife Helen and their three kids – Patricia, John, and Frederick. After the crime, List carefully hid the bodies, turned all the lights on, and ran away.
The crime stayed hidden for a month until neighbors saw the lights always on at the John List House. This was in Westfield, New Jersey. When police arrived, they found the dead bodies. This started a big search for List that only ended in 1989. He got caught, and not long after that, he passed away in prison.
John Emil List was a character John Graff in the family massacre. He was seen as an accountant and a faithful Lutheran. He faced money problems and a lot of personal disappointment. Even though people thought he was a great family man, List killed his family at their Breeze Knoll home. His crime shook the country, leaving a deep mark on the community, still haunted by the memories of the 1971 family tragedy perpetrated by John List.
John List House

The John List House was a 19-room mansion on Hillside Avenue in Westfield, New Jersey. It belonged to John List, his wife, and their three kids. List, a stern Lutheran, and Sunday school teacher, lived there until something shocking happened in 1971. On November 9, 1971, John List did something terrible. He carefully planned and killed his whole family.
John List was a man who followed a detailed plan. After the awful events in 1971, he ran away. For 18 years List hid his real identity before the law caught up with him in 1989. The old List home burned down in 1996. Some believed it was set on fire on purpose. List’s story was covered by ABC News. People were captivated by his escape for nearly two decades.
List faced the public’s fury and was given five life sentences in prison. He died in 2008 at 82. The tragedy at the John List House still deeply affects its community and fans of true crime. Today, the mansion’s Tiffany glass skylight is a sad symbol of what happened there.
Architectural Importance of the List Residence
The John List House was designed in the Prairie School architectural style. This style was inspired by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Its key features include a low-pitched roof, wide eaves, and horizontal lines. These make it a prime example of early 20th-century residential design. A year after the tragic events in the house, it became a National Historic Landmark in 1972.
Frank Lloyd Wright and his peers led the Prairie School design movement. This was an American style that stood out from traditional European designs. The prestige of the John List House, in Oak Park Illinois attractions and famous architectural residences, reveals its modern approach to architecture. It welcomes visitors exploring architectural tours and those interested in prairie-style house museum experiences.
The John List House earned a title as a national historic landmark. This recognition highlights its role in early 20th-century residential design and its connection to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture. The designation protects the house as a special architectural legacy. This is true even after the terrible events that took place there.
Manhunt for John List
After the murders on November 9, 1971, a nationwide manhunt began for John List. He had started a new life and run away from his home in Westfield, New Jersey. This case caught everyone’s eye across the US. List managed to hide for 18 years until his arrest in Colorado, in 1989. There, he was living as “Robert Clark”.
John List was searched for far and wide after he killed his wife and three kids in their 19-room mansion, called “Breeze Knoll.” He executed his plan with precision and then vanished. The mysteriously burned Victorian mansion was left behind, still holding its Tiffany glass.
Finally, in 1989, after avoiding capture for 19 years, a viewer of “America’s Most Wanted” recognized List. He was found guilty of the terrible murders. At 82, List passed away in prison in 2008.
Exploring the Crime Scene

When the police found the bodies at John List House, it was horrifying. List killed his wife Helen, daughter Patricia, and sons John and Frederick in the home’s ballroom. He then hid the bodies, turned on all lights, and ran away. He assumed a new identity and fled to Colorado.
Before the bodies were found, neighbors saw the lights on for a long time. This tells us List planned everything carefully. He even killed his mother before running. The fire that later destroyed the mansion is still a mystery. This event made the house even more frightening.
The John List House became a reminder of a gruesome act. The list ended the lives of his family in the ballroom. This room, usually for joy, witnessed something horrible.
Neighbors were deeply shocked. A neighbor spotted List on TV news after the murders. This added to the feeling of betrayal and shock in the community. The fire, which burned the house, made the place even scarier. It made people wonder if the house was forever cursed by this sad event.
Rumors and Legends Surrounding the House
After the brutal murders at the John List House, it became a center of ghost story myths and tales. Locals said they saw ghostly figures in the windows and heard strange noises. The mystery deepened when the house burned in 1996 in an unsolved arson case.
Those interested in true crime and the supernatural are often intrigued by this place, especially knowing it was once the residence of family killer John List. Some say they felt the presence of a hidden “watcher” or experienced odd events in the attic closet. The John List House has earned a reputation as a major “murder house” in the U.S.
The Associated Press and Connie Chung have covered the ongoing rumors and myths about the house, making it a landmark in true-crime show history. Even years after the murders and the arson, the List House remains a subject of interest.
Local tales from N.J. speak of odd noises and sightings at night under the glass skylight. Some claim to have seen a “watcher” on the property. This has led to the belief that the ghosts of the List family remain among sleeping bags in the house.

The mystery surrounding the John List House is a mix of reality and legend, all tied to its dark past. It remains a place of fascination for fans of the macabre and the mysterious. Even a month later, after the neighbor recognized List and authorities were called, the mansion still captures people’s interest.
Preservation Efforts and Future Plans
The John List House has a tragic past, but people aim to honor it. The Antieau Gallery in Westfield, New Jersey organized shows about its history. These included the 1971 murders. Sadly, a fire in 1996 destroyed the house. Now, only the foundations and a Tiffany glass skylight remain.
The future of the site is unclear. The property, once home to the 19-room mansion called “Breeze Knoll”, attracts many. Historians, true-crime lovers, and people interested in the dark tale of murderer John List. New Jersey’s history is eager to see what comes next.
Conclusion
The John List House in Westfield, New Jersey, is a haunting reminder of the tragic events that unfolded on November 9, 1971. What was once a beautiful 19-room mansion, designed in the Prairie School style and influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, became a symbol of horror and tragedy. The brutal murder of John List’s family, including his wife and three children, sent shockwaves across the nation, and the house became a focal point of the crime. Despite efforts to preserve the site, the house was destroyed by a mysterious fire in 1996, leaving only the foundations and a Tiffany glass skylight as remnants of this dark piece of history.
The story of John List and the murder of his family is a chilling tale of betrayal, deception, and horror. List’s careful planning and execution of the crime, followed by his escape and 18-year evasion of the law, captivated the nation and earned him a reputation as one of the most infamous family killers in American history. The John List House, with its eerie legacy and dark past, continues to fascinate true-crime enthusiasts and architectural buffs alike, serving as a haunting reminder of the horrors that can unfold in the most unexpected places.

Good morning, Pat! I just don’t get the fascination with murder houses like this. It’s best left forgotten, IMO. People who commit such murders don’t deserve to be remembered.
Just The News: “House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Tuesday said he would give former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton the same treatment Democrats gave Steve Bannon if they do not comply with congressional subpoenas to testify on their alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
House Democrats referred Bannon for prosecution after he failed to comply with a House January 6 subcommittee subpoena. He was later convicted on two counts of contempt of Congress and sentenced to four months in prison in 2022.
Comer said the Clintons are two Democrats that his committee has not heard back from regarding subpoenas for their testimony on their ties to Epstein, and that continued silence will be met with criminal referrals.
“We expect to hear from Bill and Hillary Clinton,” Comer said on the “Just The News, No Noise” TV show. “Donald Trump answered questions for years about Jeffrey Epstein. Every day he gets asked questions about Epstein, and he answers them in front of the American people. We’ve subpoenaed Republicans and Democrats.
“Other Democrats have sent letters saying they knew nothing about Epstein, which would hold in court if something ever comes out that they did know something, then they’ve committed perjury there,” he continued. “But the Clintons have never responded. They’re the one group in this investigation that’s never had to answer questions in front of a credible reporter, and they’ve never certainly answered questions from attorneys or members of Congress.”
“So we expect the Clintons to come in, or I expect the Clintons to be met with the same fate that Bannon and [Peter] Navarro were met with when the Democrats were in control,” he concluded.
Comer also noted that other Democrats have not helped bring the Clintons in to testify because they are too focused on trying to criminally connect Trump to Epstein. Neither Trump nor the Clintons have been accused of any wrongdoing.
“The Democrats have Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Comer said. “They’re just hoping and praying that there’s something in these documents, somewhere they don’t know where, but somewhere that would implicate Trump.”
The comments come after Congress on Tuesday passed legislation that demanded the release of all unclassified documents related to Epstein.”

I never realized how many homes remain abandoned in this country. it just fascinates me. Especially in a housing crunch. Why not buy it and tear it down and build something new?
I read where the Clintons had no intention of coming in for questions. Congress needs to do what they did to Navarro and Bannon. JAIL time. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!

I verified these claims made during the Dearborn Michigan City Council meeting
Dearborn’s now 55% Arab Muslim population has a huge amount of Visa overstays and illegal entry. These people shouldn’t legally be here
Unauthorized immigrants in Dearborn’s Arab community include:
– Percentage of Dearborn’s foreign-born population:
~35-50% (roughly 16,000 out of 32,000) are likely unauthorized (illegal)
Visa Overstays: ~40-50% of the unauthorized total (~4,400-8,250).
Common for temporary visas (e.g., B-1/B-2 tourist, F-1 student) from the Middle East;
national overstay rates for Yemeni and Iraqi nationals are ~20-30%, but higher in established communities like Dearborn due to family ties.
Illegal Entry (No Visa): ~45-50% (~5,000-8,250).
Includes border crossers or those evading inspection, often from Mexico/Central America, but less common for Arabs (who more often use legal entry points before overstaying).
Fraudulent Status: <5% (~500-800). Includes misrepresentation on applications or fake documents; not well-tracked locally, but DHS flags it in ~1-2% of visa cases from high-risk countries

“The Corruption in Saudi Arabia is Connected to the Corruption in the US”
Clandestine, Nov 18, 2025
“Flashback to 11/04/2017: MBS unleashed a corruption purge and detained Saudi elites and other members of the royal family at the Ritz Carlton in Riyadh. Included in the arrests, was Trump’s very public enemy, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, the 2nd largest shareholder of Twitter.
Trump’s first trip as POTUS was to Saudi Arabia. Just a month after he shows up to Saudi Arabia and does the sword dance with King Salman, Trump’s ally MBS is named the new Saudi Crown. Then a few months later, MBS arrests Trump’s enemy Prince Dopey Alwaleed bin Talal, along with the other corrupt elites of Saudi Arabia, on charges of treason, corruption, money laundering, etc.
This comes after Trump publicly accused Alwaleed bin Talal of “buying US politicians with daddy’s money”.
It appears that the corruption in Saudi Arabia, is connected to the corruption here in the US. Trump claimed corrupt factions within the House of Saud were buying US politicians, and Trump shut them down, via MBS as proxy.
Trump, King Salman, and MBS, cut the strings between the puppets and their puppet masters. It sounds crazy, but it happened.”

Just The News: “Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday signed a declaration that designated the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations in his state.
The declaration forbids both organizations and their affiliates from purchasing or acquiring land in Texas and allows increased enforcement against the groups. Neither group has been declared a terrorist organization by the federal government.
“The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR have long made their goals clear: to forcibly impose Sharia law and establish Islam’s ‘mastership of the world,’” Abbott said in a statement. “The actions taken by the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR to support terrorism across the globe and subvert our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment are unacceptable.
“Today, I designated the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations,” he continued. “These radical extremists are not welcome in our state and are now prohibited from acquiring any real property interest in Texas.”
CAIR is considered one of the largest Muslim Civil Rights advocacy groups in the country.
“Although we are flattered by Greg Abbott’s obsession with our civil rights organization, his publicity stunt masquerading as a proclamation has no basis in fact or law,” CAIR told the Texas Tribune. “By defaming a prominent American Muslim institution with debunked conspiracy theories and made-up quotes, Mr. Abbott has once again shown that his top priority is advancing anti-Muslim bigotry, not serving the people of Texas.”

From the “Well, that’s just plain stupid” files:
A Chinese firm bought an insurer for CIA agents – part of Beijing’s trillion dollar spending spree
17 Nov 2025
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4g311jn1m9o
Since 2018, the United States has been tightening its laws to prevent its rivals from buying into its sensitive sectors – blocking investments in everything from semiconductors to telecommunications.
But the rules weren’t always so strict.
In 2016, Jeff Stein, a veteran journalist covering the US intelligence community, got a tip-off: a small insurance company that specialised in selling liability insurance to FBI and CIA agents had been sold to a Chinese entity.
“Someone with direct knowledge called me up and said, ‘Do you know that the insurance company that insures intelligence personnel is owned by the Chinese?’” he remembers. “I was astonished!”
In 2015, the insurer, Wright USA, had been quietly purchased by Fosun Group, a private company believed to have very close connections with China’s leadership.
US concerns became immediately clear: Wright USA was privy to the personal details of many of America’s top secret service agents and intelligence officials. No one in the US knew who might have access to that information now the insurer and its parent, Ironshore, were Chinese-owned.
Wright USA wasn’t an isolated case.

I just called the city office to get more info on taking a load to the transfer station. I had no idea what they charged, altho I know it’s by weight, and I didn’t want to find myself presented with a bill @ the City office in the 100’s of $’s. But I’ll probably only have to pay the minimum since everything I have to go weighs far less than a ton!
Even if it were that heavy, the cost is only $65/ton, which I could deal with. Gage took a couple of loads to the Norfolk station recently – his truck bed is the same size as mine – and it cost him less than $20. In any case, he’s going to come out this Saturday morning to help me with it. I’m thinking (crossing my fingers) that, with straps and tie-downs, we might be able to get it all in one load but we’ll see. The office is closed on Saturday but I can take it to the station on Monday.
He said Courtney is totally thrilled with the china closet – she can’t stop looking at it and she told him flat-out – if they break up, she’s keeping it, insisting I gave it to her, not him (she’s right!). I think it just may be the nicest piece of furniture she’s ever had. But he had to tease her about it and insisted no, I gave it to him. LOL – I told him to have her come out by herself and see what else she might like – I just want this stuff to go to someone who will appreciate it.

I started putting things down that I want to go to my nephew when i pass. I have several things that I still use of his mom’s (my sis) –her crystal bowl and butter dish; her jewelry box and rosary and a few other things. I started taking pictures of the items too so there’s no doubt. It’s not that my kids would fight over any of it, but i can see them giving that stuff away without knowing I wanted him to have his mother’s things when i’m gone.

It’s always best, IMO, to get this stuff down on paper and known – it makes things simpler and avoids conflict. In my case, Gage is the only one who even cares so it’s pretty simple for me. “JD Vance Convicted Of Threatening To Kill JD Vance”

“A Michigan man by the name of JD Vance has been convicted of threatening to kill Vice President JD Vance.
67-year-old James Donald Vance Jr. is also convicted of threatening President Donald Trump and one of Trump’s children. I’ll assume, since there’s a sort of name game going on here, that Vance, the Michigan man, had threatened Donald Trump Jr. (though I have no idea).
JD Vance, the Michigan man, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison. This is the second time in a month that someone from western Michigan has been sentenced for threatening to kill the president.”

“Experts” say parents should ask babies for consent before changing diaper”
Not The Bee, Dr. Jones, Nov 18, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Attention, parents: You are likely violating your infant children’s “body autonomy” by changing their diapers without their express consent. At least, according to “experts.”
“Experts.”
The New York Post has additional details about how we’ve all been doing it incorrectly for all of human history:
And if consent isn’t granted, what then?
Yes, leave it to the Aussies to educate the rest of humanity on the finer points of infant consent. I don’t know if we should be taking cues — no matter how educated and researched — from a country that calls diapers “nappies.” But anyway…
Lesley Koeppel, a NYC-based psychotherapist, agrees.
The internet, unsurprisingly, had opinions:
Any parent can tell you that if diaper changes don’t happen unless the baby gives “consent,” things would get real ugly, real quick.
Glad we’ve got these “experts” to show us the way! Where would we be without them?”

“Just 62 Afghans accepted cash offer to withdraw from resettlement programs in Germany, 90% refused. Nearly 90 percent of those offered payments chose not to give up their place in the admission schemes”
ReMIX, Thomas Brooke, November 19. 2025
“An airplane lands at Hanover Airport. A charter flight from Islamabad landed in Hanover this morning. The flight was carrying a total of 174 people at particular risk in Afghanistan, whom Germany had already promised to take in in the past.” (Photo by Julian Stratenschulte/picture alliance via Getty Images)
EXCERPT: “Germany’s interior ministry has confirmed that just 62 Afghans have accepted a government offer of several thousand euros to voluntarily withdraw from resettlement programs and waive a government pledge to fund their relocation to Europe.
In total, 90 percent of those approached have not taken up the offer.
According to ministry spokesperson Elena Singer, cited by Welt, about 1,900 Afghans in Pakistan have been promised asylum by Germany. Of these, 650 people were offered financial incentives. “So far, 10 percent of those contacted, which corresponds to 62 people, have declared their willingness to accept the offer,” Singer said. The large majority declined, and officials remain in contact with others still deciding, although the official deadline to accept the offer expired on Tuesday.
The payments were aimed at Afghans whose legal position the government considers weakest and whose admission approvals could still be revoked after lengthy reviews. As the interior ministry previously told the media, those eligible for the scheme were those who “cannot expect to be accepted in Germany.” The offer consisted of several thousand euros, medical support, psychological care, plus logistical support in exchange for dropping out of the schemes.
The CDU-led coalition government in Berlin halted the resettlement program for particularly vulnerable Afghans in May, although the German courts have continued to rule that the government is obliged to honor commitments made to Afghan nationals by the previous administration.
Eva Beyer, spokeswoman for the aid group Kabul Airlift, previously told Focus that only “a maximum of five families” had agreed to drop out of the program in exchange for taxpayer cash. She said those who did accept did so only after securing visas for other countries…..”

“Are bats the ‘solution’ to Europe’s migration crisis? Under the guise of species protection, a left-leaning Berlin neighborhood is working to block construction of an asylum home. Could this tactic be used elsewhere?”
ReMix News Staff, November 19, 2025
EXCERPT: “With European cities, suburbs, and even rural settings increasingly home to asylum centers, which are often fiercely rejected by residents, there appears to be little that can be done to stop this sea change. However, one wealthy neighborhood in Berlin, known for its left-wing politics, has found a potential solution.
Yesterday, Pankow won an injunction against building an asylum center for 420 migrants, with the court citing the “environmental impact,” which would disrupt a colony of bats at the site, along with other bird species.
Never underestimate wealthy, Green-voting White people dead set against diversity in their own neighborhood. Lawfare suddenly becomes a weapon in their favor, especially when it has a nice, environmentally friendly veneer that can appeal to left-wing locals and a judiciary worried about looking racist.
“Bavarian village of 280 residents rallies against plans for 130-berth asylum center”
The planned refugee shelter was supposed to be built in a green courtyard in Berlin-Pankow near Kavalierstrasse and Ossietzkystrasse. Protests against the refugee center and the various legal battles challenging its construction have long been the subject of newspaper and television reports.
Now, the asylum home has been temporarily blocked once again by an administrative court over species concerns for bats and birds. The court ruled that an exemption issued by the district in the case, which would have allowed the construction, was unlawful, since it was “not sufficiently specific” regarding the species that would be affected by the project.
“Germany goes NIMBY: Green Party politician leads fight against 130 migrants for Bavarian village with 280 people”

“Strings Were Cut”
Clandestine, Nov 19, 2025
“After Trump announced his run for President in 2015, he accused Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of controlling US politicians with Saudi money. Which politicians do you think Trump was referring to? The ones that feared him…
The corruption in Saudi Arabia and the US is connected. This is why the first place Trump went when he became POTUS in 2017, was to Saudi Arabia.
Then a month later, there was a soft regime-change in Saudi Arabia in favor of Trump’s ally MBS via royal decree from King Salman. Then shortly after that, MBS unleashed a corruption purge on the corrupt faction(s) within the House of Saud, and Prince Alwaleed bin Talal was hanging upside down in the Ritz-Carlton begging for his life.
If you think this was all an accident, you are mistaken. Trump, with the help of King Salman and MBS, cut the strings between US Deep State politicians and their puppet masters. One of the first things Trump did as POTUS, was neutralize the puppet masters.
What good is a puppet without strings?
