Happy National Kentucky Day!

The Bluegrass State, the Horse Racing Capital of the World, Bourbon Country – Kentucky goes by many names, but for those who live there, we’re happy calling it home.

National Kentucky Day is held on Oct. 19 every year and honors Kentucky’s recognition as a state.

Here are some fun facts about Kentucky that you can share at your next Derby party:

1. Kentucky received its statehood on June 1, 1792, after it split from Virginia. The first governor of the state was Isaac Shelby, a military veteran from Virginia.

2. Kentucky’s state motto, adopted in 1942, is “United We Stand, Divided We Fall.”

3. Kentucky has 120 counties. The largest is Pike County and the smallest is Gallatin County, but Jefferson County has the highest population.

4. The highest point in Kentucky is Black Mountain at 4,145 ft. The summit is located in Harlan County near the Virginia border.

5. Nearly half of the state (roughly 48%) is made up of forestland, according to the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet.

6. Kentucky’s Mammoth Cave is the largest cave system in the world. In Sept. 2021, an additional eight miles of passages were discovered, bringing the total to 420 known miles.

7. While the state is known for horses more than cows, Kentucky’s official state drink is milk.

8. Take note! The 3M plant in Cynthiana, Kentucky accounts for nearly all of the world’s production of Post-It Notes.

9. About half of the United States Treasury’s stored gold is kept at Fort Knox. The book value of the gold currently stored there is more than $6.2 billion.

10. According to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, there are more bourbon barrels than people in Kentucky. Bourbon is a $8.6 billion industry in the state.

11. The largest fireworks display in North America happens every year in Louisville. Thunder Over Louisville has served as the official kickoff to the Kentucky Derby season since 1988.

    1. Good morning! Still dark here, too, but our temp is only 38!!! Brrrr!!!! If we can find the phone # for The Villages where GA’s daughter was living, we could contact them and explain that we are concerned for her. I would guess Sally Q was probably the only patient there with that type of ataxia considering that it is so rare…..but most searches bring up The Villages in FL and I’m positive it was in GA.

      1. Good Morning Filly!
one of the posters at wolf’s also posts at Sylvia’s and she said has her email and sent her an email–no response so far. She said she would report any news on that front from there. In her latest update about things she said she had a lot of things to decide what to do with and was considering moving to the Village herself. IF she was going to do that, then she would be selling her home and there’s a lot involved with packing, moving etc and she was selling the wheelchair accommodating van–and all that was involved with that. AND on top of all that, her foot was really giving her problems.
I couldn’t tell you where the Village was to be honest.

        1. Yes, I saw that message and I recall her talking about it. I know The Village is in GA – I recall her telling me that once. And now that you remind me, I do recall her talking about possible surgery on her foot. Still, I would think she would find the time to check in since she knows people will be concerned about her. She’s pretty considerate about things like that. Sure hope she’s ok.

    Governor Newsom gets even weirder:

‘Spreading fake news’: Newsom shuts down major freeway over Marine Corps anniversary, blames White House
The military had confirmed that no highways or public transportation routes would be affected

    https://www.wnd.com/2025/10/spreading-fake-news-newsom-shuts-down-major-freeway/

Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth are leading a live-fire demonstration Saturday at Camp Pendleton’s Red Beach to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps. The event is a training exercise conducted entirely on approved ranges and will follow established safety protocols, according to a Marine Corps press release. The Marines also confirmed that no highways or public transportation routes would be affected.

Still, Newsom announced Saturday he would close portions of I-5, claiming that “because of the Trump Admin’s plans,” drivers should expect delays on the highway.

This would be an absurd show of force, and totally uncalled for during a government shutdown when members of the military cannot even get a paycheck. https://t.co/hG3EI1FMwT

      — Governor Newsom Press Office (@GovPressOffice) October 15, 2025

…the only thing absurd is Governor Newscum. If he wants the Federal government to open for business again he should tell is two Democratic senators to vote yes on the Continuing Resolution.

    ALERT

The Law Says Deport Zohran Mamdani

    — The GOP Says Nothing
Under 8 U.S.C. § 1451(a), any naturalized U.S. citizen who obtained citizenship by concealing or misrepresenting ties to terrorist or communist organizations can have that citizenship revoked in federal court. Once denaturalized, that individual becomes deportable under 8 U.S.C. § 1227
    — a process used against Nazi collaborators, Soviet spies, and jihadist fundraisers alike.

That means if Zohran Mamdani — a foreign-born Marxist-Islamic supremacist who publicly glorified the Holy Land Five, convicted Hamas financiers — concealed ideological or organizational ties during his naturalization, the Department of Justice has full legal authority to initiate denaturalization and removal proceedings today.

But instead of enforcing the law, the Republican establishment is doing nothing while Mamdani campaigns to become mayor of New York City — the same man who rapped… “My love to the Holy Land Five — you better look ’em up.”

Those “Five” were terrorist fundraisers, convicted on 108 federal counts for funneling $12.4 million to Hamas through front “zakat” charities. Mamdani calls them heroes.

Federal law is clear. GOP cowardice is clearer. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) formally urged the Attorney General to investigate Mamdani’s potential denaturalization case.

And then — silence. No hearings. No resolutions. No press conferences.
    Speaker Mike Johnson says nothing.
    Mitch McConnell hides.
    The “America First” leadership evaporates.

Meanwhile, Democrats weaponize every agency they control to destroy their political enemies — freezing bank accounts, jailing veterans, and silencing journalists — while Republicans won’t even invoke existing law to remove a Hamas sympathizer openly running America’s largest city.

This isn’t incompetence – it’s complicity. If the DOJ refuses to act, it’s admitting that America now protects her enemies and punishes her patriots.

The Holy Land Five funded Hamas. Zohran Mamdani celebrates them.
    And the GOP does nothing.
    Every day they delay, the Red-Green Axis — the alliance of Marxists and Islamic supremacists — tightens its grip. New York today. Texas tomorrow. America next. See our FULL report;

    More California nonsense:

California creates “Bureau for Descendants of American Slavery” in lieu of reparations
Despite making slavery illegal at its inception in 1850, way back in 2023 California’s legislature decided to virtue-signal their commitment to DEI by commissioning a slavery reparations task force.

Their job was to come up with a monetary amount that would make African-Americans stop complaining about how all their modern-day problems came from chattel slavery … centuries ago.
The task force made it clear there wasn’t enough money on Earth to make the complaining end — literally

That California reparations plan to give black people $1.2 million each? The activists want up to $200 million now, which would cost more than all the money on the entire planet.
I never thought I’d see the day when Americans would turn up their nose at an offer of more than $1 million in return for absolutely no work, but that day has come.

Everything starting to make sense re: Thomas Massie

Strange Bedfellows: Meet the PAC Working to Reelect Thomas Massie—And Partnering With the DSA to Fight ICE

The embattled Kentucky congressman traveled to Pennsylvania to meet with IPAC around the time its founder wrote his campaign a check

    Excerpt:

A social media post shows Massie smiling alongside IPAC chairman Rafed Aljoboury in what appears to be a private home in Dunmore, Pa., a Scranton suburb. One week earlier, Aljoboury contributed $500 to Massie’s campaign, according to campaign finance disclosure. Aljoboury spoke at the press conference where IPAC launched its partnership with the DSA and compared ICE agents to Nazis.

“They are honestly acting more like Gestapo,” Aljoboury said. “If you don’t know what Gestapo is, Gestapo is the SS, the German Nazi. They targeted, at the time, everybody who [they] perceived as a threat to the system of government, and that is exactly what’s happening now.”

More:Massie was particularly critical of Trump’s decision to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, saying the Islamic Republic posed “no imminent threat” to the United States and introducing a bill with Rep. Ro Khanna (D., Calif.) to block U.S. military action in Iran. The move prompted fury from Trump—and praise from groups like IPAC.Though IPAC’s website features a bald eagle flying in front of the American flag while holding the Constitution and says the organization is “dedicated to influencing political causes that promote the common good and general welfare of the community and the nation,” its X account presents a different picture. There, the group boosts pro-terror and anti-Semitic voices. It routinely reposts Jackson Hinkle, a self-described communist who has met with Houthi terrorists in Yemen and attended the funeral of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon. In March, it boosted a video from anti-Semitic podcaster Stew Peters titled, “Everywhere you look, every stone you turn…you find a jew.”

The judge presiding over the Comey criminal case just approved Comey’s request to file a large motion to dismiss based on selective and vindictive prosecution.

Comey also has added some new heavy hitters to his defense team: Rebekah Donaleski, a former unit chief at SDNY.

Ephraim McDowell, former assistant to the Biden Solicitor General and clerk for Elena Kagan.

Elias Kim, former general counsel in Biden’s Department of Commerce.

Michael Dreeben, a former deputy solicitor general who worked on both Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump (he helped prosecute the Russian bot farms lol) and Jack Smith’s team, where he argued on behalf of Biden DOJ in the presidential immunity matter.

Is this what you do when your case is a layup win?

The terror organization Hamas carried out multiple attacks against Israeli forces beyond the yellow line. The attacks included an RPG shot at a military force, and a sniper fire against a military force,” an Israeli official said, according to Fox News.

“Both of the incidents happened in an Israeli-controlled area, east to the yellow line. This is a bold violation of the ceasefire,” the official added.

Trump had previously warned Hamas that military force would follow any violations to the agreement.”

“It has become the biggest business in Colombia, by far, and Petro does nothing to stop it, despite large scale payments and subsidies from the USA that are nothing more than a long term rip off of America. AS OF TODAY, THESE PAYMENTS, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT, OR SUBSIDIES, WILL NO LONGER BE MADE TO COLOMBIA,” he added.

Trump wrote that the “purpose of this drug production is the sale of massive amounts of product into the United States, causing death, destruction, and havoc.” He called Petro a “low rated and very unpopular leader, with a fresh mouth toward America, better close up these killing fields immediately, or the United States will close them up for him, and it won’t be done nicely.”

So, the newspapers were full of “no-kings” protest stories this morning.

The shocking thing about the coverage was how they completely missed the part that Soros-backed organizations largely funded these events, and all those protesters were far-left. You would think that it was everyday Americans out protesting – instead of the far-left socialists, progressives, and social justice “warriors.”

Not a mention in the press of Biden’s tyranny, or Harris’ stolen primary, or the hypocrisy of the protestors. Because the truth is:

  10. This week I will be taking time to vote early in Virginia. Because if progressive Abigail Spanberger gets elected Governor, this state will go from purple to the California Blues overnight…

A recent wide-ranging, 45-minute speech by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has revitalized the military. This speech, given before nearly every military officer and senior enlisted leader from the joint force was a announcement of a complete overhaul of the US military forces to make it a stronger, more efficient fighting force. You can watch the video here.

This speech whereby the Department of War laid out how it is re-inventing itself was hardly considered newsworthy. It was hardly covered by mainstream media. However, the changes being activated will transform our fighting forces. The new directives are listed below.

    Directives Announced by Secretary Hegseth

    • Adverse Information Policy
    • Department of War Military Education and Training Standards 60-Day Review
    • Grooming Standards for Facial Hair Implementation
    • IG Oversight and Reform: Enhancing Timeliness, Transparency, and Due Process in Administrative Investigations
    • Military Fitness Standards
    • Modern Workforce Management
    • Policy Memorandum Revision – Special Selection Review Boards
    • Reduction of Mandatory Training Requirements to Restore Mission Focus
    • Review of Hazing, Bullying, and Harassment Definitions
    • Requirement to Formally Present Purple Heart Medals and Valor Decorations

Of note, instead the legacy press whined excessively about a memo sent out by the Department of War that Pentagon press corps journalists will need to sign to maintain their Pentagon press credentials. These credentials allow them access into the DoW buildings, which includes the Pentagon. And the press is outraged! How dare they have to be accompanied throughout the facilities by an escort! And how it is unthinkable that they have to acknowledge that there will be consequences for leakers of classified or sensitive information (not the journalists, but the employees of the DoW)! At this point in time, only OANN has signed the memo, and therefore OANN is the only Pentagon press corps member. Good on them!

Well, I read the various news articles carefully (there is not a link available to the actual memo – which is weird) and am not outraged. It all seems very… sensible to me.

For those interested, Redstate media has a good synopsis of where things stand now.”

  12. “Haitians who replaced American workers in tiny Pennsylvania town will be unemployed as factory shuts down”

Not The Bee, Harris Rigby, Oct 18, 2025

Image for article: Haitians who replaced American workers in tiny Pennsylvania town will be unemployed as factory shuts down

ENTIRE ARTICLE: ‘Weird how we had decades of blue collar workers put out of business, factories shut down, and manufacturing decimated across the Rust Belt and it was a footnote in American politics. But fly 1,000 Haitian migrants in to replace the local populace and suddenly it’s a tragedy when they lose their jobs?

This is what’s happening in Charleroi, PA, which was a town that popped up during the election, along with Springfield Ohio, as a place where “temporary” migrants were being brought in to work factory jobs. We covered Charleroi a couple of times during 2024:

These guys nailed the biggest problem with pumping thousands of foreigners into their small Pennsylvania town. Let’s talk about it.

The media wants you to believe that these thoughts are racist.

    https://notthebee.com/article/listen-to-these-small-town-residents-describe-how-their-town-has-been-destroyed-by-the-influx-of-haitian-migrants

“It isn’t just Springfield”: Check out this compilation of horror stories from a tiny Pennsylvania town that has been flooded with thousands of Haitian migrants

Charleroi, Pennsylvania, is a rural American town that has been overrun by the chaos of open borders.

    https://notthebee.com/article/it-isnt-just-springfield-check-out-these-stories-from-charleroi-pennsylvania-another-town-flooded-with-haitian-newcomers

Zerohedge didn’t hold back in their reporting.

Many of these migrants were employed by a meatpacking plant known as Fourth Street Barbecue, also operating under the name Fourth Street Foods. They displaced native-born workers, drained local resources, and wired their paychecks overseas to third-world countries. The result: another small town gutted in real time by globalist policies for short-term profits.

Here’s a clip from a rally in Charleroi:

    Here’s more from Zerohedge:

Now, the consequences of open-border policies and lax immigration policies that enabled migrants to be funneled into the small town could be set to unleash what some folks at the local level are calling a ‘humanitarian disaster’ in the making. This is because Fourth Street Barbecue is planning to shut down its plants at the end of the month after defaulting on more than $80 million in loans, according to local media outlet WTAE.

    And from the WTAE story:

Local immigration attorney Joseph Murphy warned about the humanitarian disaster that’s about to unfold in the small town:

‘It’s, among other things, just a plain old humanitarian disaster right here. Eight hundred families just like that, turned off, no legal status, no ability to work, thousands of miles from home in some foreign city in western Pennsylvania in February. This is just not a pretty picture.’

A bunch of unemployed Haitians in a tiny little town. Can they head home? Conan O’Brien told me that Haiti is already great after all.

If you worked for this factory 15 years ago, and your family lived in Charleroi since 1920, you don’t have any other home to go to. Now that’s a humanitarian crisis.”

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “And now I’ve seen it all….

A Detroit area woman just won the lottery in the most 2025 way possible. She asked ChatGPT for the numbers and won $100,000 on its suggestion. Absolutely unreal. I don’t even know if you can call this luck with it all being computer generated.

Here’s more on Tammy Carvey’s story from Click On Detroit:

Tammy Carvey, 45, matched four white balls and the Powerball, 11-23-44-61-62 PB: 17 in the drawing on Sept. 6 to win $50,000. That prize was multiplied to $100,000 due to the Power Play.

‘I only play Powerball when the jackpot gets up there and the jackpot was over $1 billion so I bought a ticket,’ said Carvey. ‘I asked ChatGPT for a set of Powerball numbers and those are the numbers I played on my ticket.’

When Carvey noticed that she matched four white balls and the Powerball, she knew she must have won something.

‘Google told me it was a $50,000 prize, so that’s what I thought I’d won. It wasn’t until I logged into my Michigan Lottery account that I realized I added the Power Play to my ticket and actually won $100,000! My husband and I were in total disbelief.’

I would be too! What are the odds of ChatGPT being a whiz at the lotto? They’re seemingly pretty good, actually, because this is at least the second time ChatGPT has picked a winning ticket.

Carvey is going to use the $100k to pay off her mortgage, and then what’s left she’s going to sock away into savings.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to ask ChatGPT some questions.”

That was where New England K-9 Search and Rescue volunteer Jeremy Corson and his 7-year-old German Shepherd dog Freyja sprung into action. Corson said to WHDH: ‘I was out the door pretty much immediately when I heard “two-year-old.”

‘It’s like go go go right out of the gate, so I basically pulled over, got the dog, and started running into the woods.’

The girl’s shoes were found about two hours into the search, and the family dogs returned to their house moments later. However, the girl was still missing. Now, she was completely alone – with the temperature in Dorchester expected to drop into the 20s.

‘On the second pass, the dog pulled us back to our previous pass and started investigating and started displaying that human scent behavior.’

His dog’s ‘incredible nose,’ Corson wrote on social media, took him right to the ‘scared but safe little girl who was ready for her bath and bedtime.’ Corson revealed the toddler initially thought he was her father. He said her first words were: ‘I’m cold, I think I’m ready for a bath.'”

  16. “She wasn’t supposed to be there. By all rights, Martha Gellhorn should have been on a transport barge in the English Channel with the other journalists, safely out of the fight. But the night before, she had boarded a hospital ship, flashing her press credentials and claiming she was there to interview nurses. It was a ruse — but it worked. She slipped into a bathroom, locked the door, and spent a miserable night, seasick and hidden.

When she emerged the next morning, she had a front-row seat to one of history’s greatest moments: the invasion of Normandy, June 6, 1944. Before her stretched thousands of ships, 160,000 men, and the thunder of bombs falling from the sky.

But it wasn’t her pen that was needed. The sea was filled with the dead and the wounded, and Martha jumped in to help however she could. By nightfall, she had waded ashore with the medics and stretcher-bearers, her hands blistered, her body soaked and exhausted. She followed the minesweepers inland, no longer just a reporter, but part of the story itself.

In those hours, Martha Gellhorn became the only woman to land on D-Day — not just an observer of history, but a participant. Her courage was proof that sometimes heroism arrives uninvited, and we either rise to meet it — or we don’t.”
