What Shall We Bake Today?

The final offering in our Back-to-School series is Pumpkin Spice Cookies!

Ingredients

1 and ½ cups all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon baking soda

2 and ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon divided

1 and ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice divided

½ cup unsalted butter melted and allowed to cool

¼ cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar divided

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

6 Tablespoons pumpkin puree

Directions

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the cooled melted butter, brown sugar, and ½ cup of the granulated sugar until smooth, then whisk in the vanilla and pumpkin puree until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix together with a large spatula until everything is combined. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or up to 3 days.

When you are ready to bake the cookies, remove the dough from the refrigerator. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Set aside.

Combine the remaining ½ cup of granulated sugar, ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice. Stir or whisk together until uniform in color. Set aside.

Roll the dough into balls, about 1 Tablespoon in size. Roll each of the dough balls generously in the sugar/cinnamon/pumpkin pie spice mixture and place on prepared baking sheet.

Bake the cookies for 11-13 minutes or until the edges are just set. Cookies will look very soft and under-baked. Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Store leftovers covered at room temperature, up to 5 days. Baked cookies freeze well, up to 3 months. Thaw in refrigerator or at room temperature.

ENJOY!

  1. “Retribution Isn’t A Dirty Word. It’s Imperative”

The Federalist, By: Eddie Scarry, September 26, 2025

    James Comey

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “It’s always been weird the way Democrats and the dying news media refer to President Trump’s plans for “retribution,” both before and after he was elected. It’s like they never bothered to look up the word.

Merriam-Webster defines it as “the act or an instance of responding to an injury with an injury.” More fittingly, Dictionary.com has it as “requital according to merits or deserts, especially for evil.” In other words, repayment.

After news broke Thursday that former FBI Director James Comey, who was fired by Trump in his first term, was indicted on charges related to lying to Congress under oath, the “retribution” line was back on repeat.

New York Times: “Trump Gets the Retribution He Sought …”

Associated Press: “Trump escalates retribution campaign …”

PBS: “… as he ramps up retribution campaign.”

Every news article and cable news segment on the topic is naturally accompanied by a Democrat who ominously declares Trump an “authoritarian” who has “weaponized the Justice Department.” (Imagine a president using the Justice Department to prosecute his opponents.)

Sure thing. But what the president’s supporters should have to say about “retribution” is — you’re damn right. Comey, a proud Taylor Swift fangirl, is a proven liar who maliciously manipulated the public by making classified leaks to the media in order to make Trump, his former boss, look bad. Criminal, even.

To the extent that the president is guided by anything personal in his administration holding criminals and otherwise corrupt individuals to account, whatever. Those people endlessly investigated him over fake accusations he was a Russian agent, had him impeached, almost bankrupted him, tried to put him in prison, and, ultimately, got him shot. I’d say he’s earned the right, and not just because voters granted him the power to do it.

Speaking of the voters, Trump told them in advance, “I am your retribution.” And they elected him. There should be no mistake that the scores to settle are not his alone. They are for the millions of people who supported him and who almost saw the third election in a row stolen from them.

The first one was effectively stolen after 2016, when the entire Washington bureaucracy worked to thwart the agenda Trump was elected to enact, by way of character assassination and then an attempt to remove him from office. The second one was hijacked by Covid hysteria, with Democrats and the dying media laying every single death caused by a highly contagious, airborne virus at one man’s feet, plus violent race riots threatening to burn down entire cities if Democrats didn’t get their way. The third one — well, you saw what happened.

Now Trump’s voters finally have a chance to see things set right. This is what it looks like.”

  2. Just The News: “MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is weighing a 2026 bid for Minnesota governor, according to a news report Friday. Lindell is a strong supporter of President Donald Trump and is known for promoting claims about 2020 election fraud. He previously floated a bid for Minnesota governor in 2022 but decided against it, and also campaigned for become chairman of the Republican National Committee.

The CEO said he recently re-established residency in Minnesota after living in Texas. “We’re about 99 percent there,” Lindell told the Minnesota Star Tribune. “I love the state, I love the country and if I’m the only one that can win, that would be a shame if that opportunity slipped by.”

Lindell said a possible hold up on his gubernatorial bid is how it would impact his business, since he owns a network, but that if he does decide to run for governor then he would run on a platform of “secure elections” and “common sense.”

If he does decide to run, Lindell would likely join an early crowded Republican primary that includes such contenders as 2022 nominee Scott Jensen, GOP state Rep. Kristin Robbins, businessman Kendall Qualls, former Naval intelligence officer Phillip Parrish and retired mixed martial arts fighter Brad Kohler.

Incumbent Democrat Gov. Tim Walz, who was the 2024 running-mate for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, has already declared that he is seeking a third term in 2026.”

  3. Just The News: “A medical examiner conducting the autopsy of the man who last month fatally shot four people at a Manhattan office building had at a Manhattan office building had a degenerative brain condition known as CTE. The shooter, who killed himself in the attack, Shane Tamura, claimed in a suicide note that he had the condition, formally known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

Officials believe that the NFL headquarters was the target of the attack, but that Tamura took the wrong elevator bank to get to the floor.

Tamura claimed in a suicide note that he had the condition from playing high school football. He also asked coroners to study his brain after he died to see whether he had the disease. The medical examiner concluded Tamura had “unambiguous diagnostic evidence” of low-stage CTE, NBC News reported. The condition is an Alzheimer’s-like disease that is most commonly associated with football players, as it occurs with repetitive hits to the head, even without a concussion.

‘We continue to grieve the senseless loss of lives, and our hearts remain with the victims’ families and our dedicated employees,” the NFL said in a statement. “There is no justification for the horrific and senseless acts that took place.”

Tamura’s family declined to comment on the finding, according to the New York Times.

  4. Just The News: “President Trump said on Saturday that he will send troops to Portland to handle “domestic terrorists.”

“At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists,” Trump said on Truth Social.

“I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary,” he added.”

  5. “Trump Sends US MIL Troops to Portland!”

    Clandestine, Sep 27, 2025

“I don’t think people understand the magnitude of what just happened.

POTUS is sending US Military troops to “war ravaged” Portland, Antifa’s main hub, to protect ICE facilities from endless attacks from Antifa.

US MIL in US cities is essentially the Insurrection Act. As for whether or not that’s the actual legal avenue Trump utilizes to get troops to Dem-run cities like Portland, the end result is that of the Insurrection Act, whether it’s been invoked or not. Antifa is a violent insurrection/terrorist operation, and Trump is sending US troops authorized with “full force”.

This is the beginning of the dismantling of Antifa and the Left-wing terrorist network nationwide. Trump is eliminating the Deep State’s brownshirts.

    It’s happening.”

    Donald J. Trump

    @realDonaldTrump
It was just revealed that the FBI had secretly placed, against all Rules, Regulations, Protocols, and Standards, 274 FBI Agents into the Crowd just prior to, and during, the January 6th Hoax. This is different from what Director Christopher Wray stated, over and over again! That’s right, as it now turns out, FBI Agents were at, and in, the January 6th Protest, probably acting as Agitators and Insurrectionists, but certainly not as “Law Enforcement Officials.” I want to know who each and every one of these so-called “Agents” are, and what they were up to on that now “Historic” Day. Many Great American Patriots were made to pay a very big price only for the love of their Country. I owe this investigation of “Dirty Cops and Crooked Politicians” to them! Christopher Wray, the then Director of the FBI, has some major explaining to do. That’s two in a row, Comey and Wray, who got caught LYING, with our Great Country at stake. WE CAN NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN TO AMERICA AGAIN!

  9. “CNN states the obvious – The alleged leak to the media that underpins the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey appears to relate to the 2016 investigation concerning Hillary Clinton, rather than the separate 2016 FBI investigation of Donald Trump and Russian election meddling.

Prosecutors say in the indictment they believe Comey had authorized an anonymous leak to the press about an FBI investigation. The indictment then accuses him of lying under oath to the Senate in 2020 when he was asked whether he had authorized a leak, and he testified he hadn’t. The indictment doesn’t identify which specific leaked details or news reports form the core of the case.

It appears they may not have been able to make a case (not yet, anyway) about the Russia shit and the bullshit FISA warrants, but officials and people involved in the case tell CNN the false statement charge appears to center on alleged leaks for news articles about the FBI’s investigation of Hillary Clinton and her use of a private email server.

What was it he said about ‘Hillary Clinton was “extremely careless,” but “no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case,’ or some such nonsense? We all knew he was bullshitting, and now his feet are in the fire, but I’ll be shocked if he’s convicted…”

  10. Good afternoon, Pat and Filly,

Looks like Tropical Depression 9 – future Hurricane Imelda – will also miss making landfall on the USA.   This area was hard hit the last two seasons, so we are extremely grateful.

  11. “Trump is Preparing for the Storm”

    Clandestine, Sep 27, 2025

    “Trump’s plan is genius.

POTUS technically does not need to invoke the Insurrection Act to send US Military to defend federal property, it’s considered a federal function, NOT local policing.

So Trump can move troops to ICE facilities, have forces in place preemptively, then if he chooses to invoke the Insurrection Act, troops will already be in position, on standby.

The Insurrection Act would be needed if US MIL were to be engaged in riot control, general law enforcement, or quelling rebellion not on federal property.

Trump is putting himself in position so that if he does choose to invoke the Insurrection Act, he already has troops in place at areas of need, and can flip the switch at any moment from defense to offense.

My guess is that the decision is already made. Trump is getting his ducks in a row before he strikes, which is generally his modus operandi.

Battles are won before they begin.”
