    1. Good morning, Pat! Still mostly cloudy here, too, and only 46 – waiting to see if the wind starts in again – so far/so good w/only a light breeze. There is soooo much bark from the cottonwood tree all over the back yard but no damage that I can see! Terrible tornadoes in MO, w/at least 6 people dead in one town – hope that system doesn’t move north! Wheezer came in not long after I opened the blinds so I took his dish out and refilled the jelly feeders – the small open dish was almost empty and the big one was half empty! They were busy, busy birds in spite of the wind!

        we have sticks down everywhere in the yard as well. if hubby thinks it’s dry enough to mow (that’s questionable) we’ll have to do another round of stick gathering before hand. i don’t ever remember having so many windy windy days this late. i mean occasionally in March, but this has been an unusual weather year so far.

    A federal employee allegedly created a fake business to draw PPP loans, which were paid out despite obvious discrepancies.

    A USAID employee named Yusuf Akoll was charged with PPP fraud this week. We apparently -let him in our country -paid him a salary -put him in charge of giving out our money to foreign countries In return, he allegedly stole $16,000 in COVID funds.

    Hi guys a drive by comment…I’m really exhausted & desperately need a shower & sleep.

    Friday morning at 10:15am my mother died at the local hospital in their home city, the hospital where she worked as an RN for many years & my youngest 3 children were born.

    She was taken by ambulance unresponsive on Thursday late night & several tests revealed a perforated bowel with such a larger perforation that it would not close on its own. There were two options, a risky surgery w/ at best a 20% survival rate & eventual return to her status of the last week, where she was largely completely dependent on others & could barely speak & only intermittently walk with help.

    The other choice was “comfort care” & the removal of the supportive systems that been instituted in the ER, ventilator & various IV meds to stabilize her. If there was such a choice made it was expected she would not last the day due to septic shock & organ failure.

    My dad, brother Mike, & EMT son Brandon were there in the room with her & I was on speaker phone for the deliberations, having been on the phone with my dad & Mike since maybe 5:30am. I asked if they could make an attempt to see if she was able to communicate in any way what she preferred, to fight a dangerous battle, or to be let go of life. She was unable to respond to multiple approaches & people.

    I was supposed to be my parents’ health proxy though we’d never formalized the set-up and would only step in if they were unable to speak for themselves. Dad made the final call after my brother had asked the surgeon what he would do if faced with such a choice.

    The comfort care route was chosen & they offered to delay that process until I could arrive at That hospital in 1-1/2 hours or so, or for anyone else to be there. I didn’t want to put my dad through such a delay so said that needed to proceed when ready.

    I was on a public house phone by the elevators on Josiah’s floor when they removed the ventilator & about 15 minutes later my daughter Clarissa arrived & we were able to call Brandon’s cell from hers & she & I & her 2 year old daughter Lillian entered an empty “family waiting room” where it could reduce ambient noise & have some privacy. I stepped away for the restroom & returned a couple minutes later for Clarissa to say “Grandma’s heart just stopped” there were several minutes before the doctor arrived to pronounce death…

    Bottom line I am now home for about a half hour so far, will shower & rest, & interface with my husband then try to assist Dad with funeral arrangements, casket choice etc.

    Clarissa with go be with Josiah for some hours tomorrow & his wife & in-laws met us at the elevators as were were leaving. They also plan to be with J again tomorrow. Both J’s brothers will help as they are able but B is going on his 24 hour firefighter shift after a stint of maybe 48 hours w/out almost any sleep.

    Josiah is as prepared as he can be to be alone at the hospital for multiple hours at a time. I’ve informed staff, nurses, & assistants of his anticipated needs but have done such things in the past w/ little to no “promised’ follow-through on his needs. He is prepared for me to be gone up to 2 nights to “handle Grandpa” and spend time with Michael. He is still having electrolyte issues, some blood in the stool, & to get another CT, probably tomorrow. He’s trending better but probably not less than 3 days from discharge by My estimation, as staff always dodge any guesstimates I prompt.

    We’re playing all of this by ear.

    They changed Josiah’s diet to full liquid from clear liquid at some point but we didn’t know. His sister was a big help in labeling the various cups on his bedside tray so Josiah knows what liquid he’s picking up. Hopefully he’ll manage to become more of a self-advocate while I’m away (he’s made some reported strides when I was out of the room for many hours yesterday, which is a good start) & any of the family who step in to assist will learn how to help with his needs in my absence.

    The cottage is where we would stay for Mom’s burial as my parents have chosen the Gaylord cemetery containing 4 generations of family on my dad’s side so…we’ll see what happens…I won’t go Up North without Josiah out of the hospital & cleared for such activity. Some rough waters yet ahead…

    The Supreme Court has just ruled that the worst murderers, drug dealers, gang members, and even those who are mentally insane, who came into our Country illegally, are not allowed to be forced out without going through a long, protracted, and expensive Legal Process, one that will take, possibly, many years for each person, and one that will allow these people to commit many crimes before they even see the inside of a Courthouse. The result of this decision will let more CRIMINALS pour into our Country, doing great harm to our cherished American public. It will also encourage other criminals to illegally enter our Country, wreaking havoc and bedlam wherever they go. The Supreme Court of the United States is not allowing me to do what I was elected to do. Sleepy Joe Biden allowed MILLIONS of Criminal Aliens to come into our Country without any “PROCESS” but, in order to get them out of our Country, we have to go through a long and extended PROCESS.     In a letter to FCC chairman Brendan Carr, a Verizon attorney said the company will remove references to DEI from its leadership structure, job functions, and training materials. Verizon, the country’s second-largest phone and Internet provider, will also remove diversity metrics aimed at increasing its female and minority workforce from its bonus and incentive program for company executives.

    “Verizon is changing its HR structure and will no longer have a team or any individual roles focused on DEI,” said Verizon general counsel Vandana Venkatesh. “Verizon is making these changes to its practices not just in name or in the way they are described, but in substance.”

    “These changes are effective immediately,” said Venkatesh. Carr called the decision a “good step forward for equal opportunity, nondiscrimination, and the public interest.”

    It marks a major win for the Trump administration, which has slashed DEI offices across the federal government and cut grants to organizations that implement DEI.     By May of 2022, more than a month before the official decision came down, someone leaked a draft of the would-be Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that would overturn Roe.

    And sure enough, by early June, there was someone apparently willing to heed Schumer’s call. A California man admitted he traveled all the way from Los Angeles to Kavanaugh’s Montgomery County, Maryland, home “with the intent to kill the Supreme Court Justice.” Thankfully, he never had the chance.

    “James Comey dog-whistling his desire for President Donald Trump to be assassinated via a now-infamous “86 47” social media post — only to play dumb after well-deserved backlash — is a final befitting act by the disgraced former FBI director in his long-running campaign to destroy the president. Justice demands he answer for this outrageous act, particularly because the holier-than-thou G-man has to date completely skirted justice.

    Indeed, Comey, among those most responsible for eviscerating the rule of law and undermining our republic over the last decade, has evaded any accountability for his sordid and malevolent conduct — besides being fired during the Trump I administration. Yet consider the parade of horribles for which Comey bears culpability.

    The Russiagate hoax originated and festered under Comey’s leadership. Comey briefed the incoming president on the wholly uncorroborated Steele dossier days before his first inauguration — a briefing whose leak triggered the media to report on the garbage oppo research package. This in turn undermined the incoming administration and helped foment the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. The FBI would of course use the dubious dossier to justify the unjustifiable spying on the Trump campaign through Carter Page, via a civil rights-obliterating FISA warrant that Comey and his comrades zealously pursued.

    Comey also orchestrated the brazen ambush interview of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn in a bid to set a perjury trap that would lead to his demise and destabilize the administration. Flynn was poised to radically restructure the deep state. That’s one of the reasons why he was among its first targets in the Trump administration.

    Instead of being able to help the president root out the rot and corruption and reorient the national security and intelligence apparatus toward America’s national interest, Flynn ended up having his career destroyed, his reputation tarnished, and his finances ruined — despite having committed no crime. He underwent a devastating sham trial before a judge who, botching the facts of the case, slandered the storied terrorist-hunting Flynn as a traitor, and has never received restitution for this ordeal.

    Comey delivered public testimony to Congress discrediting President Trump months into his presidency by claiming he was under investigation as part of the Trump-Russia collusion “probe” Comey’s FBI cooked up, while privately reassuring the president he was not a target of investigation.

    Shortly thereafter, when Trump fired Comey, the ex-FBI Director leaked memos memorializing private conversations with the president to damage him. This included leaking information to try and ensure a special counsel would be sicced on Trump. Yet Comey faced nothing but the censure of the Justice Department’s inspector general for these unauthorized disclosures.

    Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller led to a crooked investigation that diverted substantial time and resources and created a cloud over the Trump presidency during its first two-plus years — validating Comey’s scheming and manipulation. The comparative kid gloves with which Comey handled Hillary Clinton-related investigations was the cherry on top. Special Counsel John Durham exposed some of this corruption in his final report, yet he never even compelled Comey to interview.

    If Comey were held to the standard that he and his fellow coup plotters and lawfare insurrectionists have held Trump, he likely would have been prosecuted many times over for his abuses of power; his leadership in what amounted to a conspiracy to destroy a president — including to systematically violate or deprive the commander in chief and those in his orbit of their rights; and his running of information operations against the American people aimed at interfering in our domestic politics and defrauding the country.

    His latest post would no doubt be pursued as incitement to violence — something Comey himself would seem to advocate were he not the subject of investigation. He would almost assuredly be prosecuted under 18 U.S.C. 871, under which those who threaten the president’s life may be fined, imprisoned for up to five years, or both.

    Comey’s animus towards Trump is beyond well-established. He is not ignorant of what 86 47 means. Nor is he unaware of the fact that the president faced two assassination attempts in the last year. For all these reasons, an argument could be made that Comey is being shown grace by the Trump administration in merely being investigated by the Secret Service over a post obviously calling for his assassination to his followers.

    If he is to be interviewed, as my colleague at RealClearPolitics Susan Crabtree has suggested may occur, one can bet he won’t be ambushed and trapped in a bid to do to him what his FBI did to Flynn. Odds are, Comey will enjoy the protections of a system that he did not afford his own political opponents and avoid prosecution.

    Minimally, however, authorities must fully probe his acts. Legitimate processes serve as a modicum of punishment.

    Still, it is not clear how the likes of Comey will be deterred going forward absent equivalent scrutiny and punishment under the law. That is the devastating position in which he and his fellow “resisters” have put the country, torching the institutions and the Constitution in a bid to preserve and protect their own power.”

    “Yesterday, James Comey caused quite the stir when he went on Instagram and posted a picture of a shell formation on the beach — obviously one he made — that spelled out “86 47,” which many interpreted as a threat on President Trump’s life.

    Since then, everyone’s been arguing over the definition of “86.” As slang goes, it has a wide variety of uses, some of which are more innocent, such as when you run out of a menu item at a restaurant you “86” it or when you get kicked out of a bar for being too drunk or unruly you’re said to be “86’d.” But it is also been used by the Mafia and the military to refer to killing people, and well, it’s a little harder to swallow that the man who prosecuted the Gambino crime family wasn’t aware of its more sinister meaning.

    However, it gets worse than that for Comey. After posting the offending shell photo, the very next post on Instagram was him posting the favorable Publisher’s Weekly review of his third crime novel, out next week. What’s it about, you ask?

    Former FBI director Comey (Westport) reunites the protagonists of his first two legal thrillers for his strongest outing yet. U.S. attorney Carmen Garcia is trying to take down Samuel Buchanan, a far-right media personality with a popular podcast vilifying those he thinks are destroying America: intellectuals, immigrants, and people of color. Garcia believes Buchanan went far beyond the protection of the First Amendment when he singled out his enemies by name and suggested “something should be done” about them. His fans have obliged, killing or grievously injuring some of his foes. In a series of tense and exhilarating courtroom scenes, Garcia works with Deputy U.S. Attorney Nora Carleton to bring Buchanan down. Then, just as they’ve convicted him, a new threat emerges …

    So let me get this straight, Comey’s book is about successfully prosecuting a right-wing commentator for making vaguely worded threats? Really? (Also, “Samuel Buchanan”? I guess “Patrick Francis” wouldn’t have been on the nose enough for his liberal audience.)

    Now obviously this is just a capsule review, and perhaps Comey’s novel goes into the legal complexities involved — the review goes on to say there’s “hand-wringing about following legal and constitutional protocol.” But given Comey’s demonstrably terrible and partisan judgment as a law enforcement official, it’s hard to give him the benefit of the doubt.

    Fortunately for Comey, threatening the president this way isn’t necessarily a crime. (Comey probably should have been prosecuted for about a dozen other things that happened at the FBI during Russiagate.) There’s a Supreme Court case dealing with presidential threats that very generously extends the First Amendment to cover a lot of threats. In the ’60s, an 18-year-old who didn’t want to be drafted got tried and convicted for saying, “If they ever make me carry a rifle, the first man I want to get in my sights is L.B.J.” The Warren court basically said that this was “political hyperbole,” and “context, and regarding the expressly conditional nature of the statement and the reaction of the listeners” must be considered, and they decided this was not a real threat.

    Still, Comey could very well end up being prosecuted for his post. If he is prosecuted, his only real defense would be that he was so ignorant of things that he’s supposed to have expert knowledge of, such as Mafia lingo and what constitutes an actionable threat, that he didn’t know what he was doing.

    It doesn’t help that Comey has been quite public with his complaints that Trump and his administration have allegedly lied about and defamed him, so it would appear he has a motive to resent Trump. And if the prosecution depends on the establishing the “context” and “nature of the statement” to prove intent, a case against Comey could very well consider the plot of his recent novel, which is damning.

    Because it seems pretty clear that one person who firmly believes in prosecuting even those threats that are open to interpretation, particularly against a president who was nearly assassinated twice in the last year, is … James Comey.”

    Additionally, much of the construction work will likely be done through a labor sponsorship program known in the region as kafalaThese alleged “sponsorships” can function much more like slave or forced labor, where workers are subjected to bad working conditions and low pay, plus illegal practices such as wage theft, passport confiscation, and hiring fees. The kafala system allows for workers to be held hostage by their employers if they wish to avoid the threat of deportation and loan defaults. 

    The company set to construct Disney’s new park is Miral, which is owned by the Abu Dhabi government. This means Miral will likely default to using the UAE’s common practice of kafala while building the Middle Eastern versions of Space Mountain and the Haunted Mansion. The thought is sickening at best, as it perverts Walt’s original joyous and wholesome design. It is a cannibalization of treasured intellectual property. 

    However, Disney has a “Get Out of Jail Free” card: It will maintain creative control and oversight of the park, but Miral will bankroll, build, and operate it. This removes any financial responsibility from Disney, which will receive licensing checks from Miral regardless of the park’s success. It also gives Disney plausible deniability regarding the moral dilemmas, as the company can distance itself from the UAE’s questionable labor practices.

    But immoral labor practices are only one aspect of the UAE’s incompatibility with Disney’s corporate image, which prides itself on values such as safety, courtesy, and inclusion. While kafala is clearly unsafe, the country also has laws against homosexuality, which come with threats of imprisonment and even the death penalty. This seems to be at odds with Disney’s fight for so-called “inclusion” in Western markets…..”

Just The News: “One of the few U.S. members of Congress to meet with Syria’s new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, says the former terrorist wants to pivot his country away from China, Iran and Russia and closer to the U.S. amid signs of President Donald Trump’s growing popularity among the war-weary Syrian people.

    “There’s actually signs around Damascus to say, ‘Make Syria Great Again.’ So they’re big fans of President Trump,” Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., told the Just the News, No Noise television show. “I think this new president…I told him, ‘the opportunity you have is incredible.’ The Syrian people are remarkable.”

    Trump met with al-Sharaa this week in a sign that Syria is growing closer to the United States after years of ostracization over concerns about its human rights, terrorism and Iranian ties. The American president lifted sanctions against Syria as well.

    Earlier, Stutzman and Florida GOP Rep. Cory Mills met for an hour during the Easter vacation with al-Sharaa in Damascus, walking away impressed that the former al-Qaeda member turned politician is moving Syria in a positive direction. “I was impressed with the people that he’s picking around him, the things that he’s saying and the actions that he’s been taking are showing that he seems to be wanting to move in a direction towards the West,” Stutzman explained.

    Stutzman said al-Sharaa told him he had refused an offer from Russia and doesn’t have any interest in doing business with China. “They want to do business with the West,” Stutzman said. “If they can move and stop any sort of jihad training [or] any sort of that jihadi mentality in the Middle East, there is a real opportunity for peace and prosperity there.”

    Trump told reporters that al-Sharra was a “tough guy” who had the opportunity to bring stability to Syria.

    In December of last year, Islamist rebels stormed the Syrian capital of Damascus, resulting in dictator Bashar al-Assad fleeing the country. Al-Sharaa soon took over as president after Assad was ousted.

    Stutzman said that regarding al-Sharaa’s relationship with Iran, he was open to letting the country have an embassy, but its visas would be limited. “He actually was very much to the point on Iran, especially,” Stutzman said. “He said that he was open to letting Iran have an embassy, but he would limit their visas and the amount of traffic coming from Iran, and he didn’t want to let them basically congregate in a certain part of the country.”

    While meeting with al-Sharaa, Trump delivered a stern warning to Iran that its only path to normalization is to abandon both terrorism and its pursuit of nuclear weapons.”

    SALT caps at $30,000 is for Lawler’s district allows 93% of his constituents to write off their entire property tax bill!

    Lawler can win re-election on that and the $30,000 SALT caps is even better than the measly $20,000 SALT cap he put in his own legislation.

    He should be saying thank you to all of us from red states that are supporting the SALT caps being raised to $30,000 to help his constituents in his terrible blue states.

    But instead he is grandstanding and refusing to vote for the most important legislation that we can accomplish this term. The tax law is about to expire and that will raise taxes 65% on everyone.

    Then we have the other wing of our conference who just voted NO in the budget committee mark up on the reconciliation budget.

    The Freedom Caucus now refuses to vote for the bid beautiful bill because it doesn’t cut Medicaid enough.

    This group, Clyde, Roy, Norman, and Brecheen are all in nice red seats and I think they are screwing things up just as badly as RINO Mike Lawler.

    I would argue that it is all of them that don’t appreciate our majority like I do!

    I just want to pass the big beautiful bill, Trump’s EOs, and DOGE rescission cuts and win, win, win!!

    Then we can do another reconciliation bill and hopefully get another bite at the apple to win some more!

    Lawler, Clyde, Norman, Roy, and Brecheen never supported Trump until the end of the election cycle until they had no choice. They never went to rally after rally all over the country like I did, and I went to more than anyone fighting to win. These guys have no idea what made millions of people stand in lines for hours, give Trump standing ovations, and hold their hand over their hearts and cry.

    But I do.

    Because I was there with them.

    It wasn’t SALT caps or Medicaid cuts.

    It was NO tax on tips, overtime, social security, closing the border and stopping innocent American’s like Laken Rileys from being murdered, lowering inflation to make life affordable for the average American who can no longer afford it, ending the never ending foreign wars, and Making America Healthy Again. It was MAGA and America First.

    So when I am attacking these guys for dying on their own hills where they have built their mini kingdoms, I am doing it for a reason.

    Because it is them that is throwing our majority away, and I fought too damn hard to get it to back down.

You see, he’s a patriotic American and MAGA fan who wanted to express his appreciation for the job the commander in chief is doing.

    On Thursday, Moore found out he had received a video message from the president delivered by his congressman, Rep. Michael Rulli, R-Ohio.

    “Hi, Denver!” Trump says in the video message.

    “I want to wish you a very happy 104th birthday from your all-time favorite president. That’s me, Donald Trump,” he continues. “And I’m sorry we weren’t able to get to your party. I would love to get to your party, but I’m working on Russia, Ukraine, China, and all sorts of other places, and I know you want us to do well.”

    “But I want just to thank you for your incredible service to our nation and for your support for making America great again. A very, very special man you are, and happy birthday,” he continued.

    It’s gotta be a special moment when the president of the United States wishes you a happy birthday. 

    The TikTok video in March that showed Moore hoping the president could come to his party amassed almost a million views. The plucky old-timer showed he’s still got plenty of fight left:

    Trump could have easily neglected this moment, but he didn’t, and even while dealing with multiple crises and international dealings, he took the time to honor one of our oldest veterans. 

    For now, though, let’s turn our attention back to Denver Moore. Not only do you have a great name, Mr. Moore, but by all accounts, you’re a great American. Happiest of birthdays, Sir, and may there be many more!”

    1. I just finished clearing a space in the Lily of the Valley for the trellis and, after multiple measurements, have the t-posts in place, ready for Jason. I left him a message earlier to ask if he can come by today w/his t-post driver. Then I can get the trellis attached and the 2nd Clematis planted.

      1. we bought 6 tomato plants, 6 pepper plants and 4 zucchini and a ton of marigolds.

        the place where we got them had gorgeous geraniums–mom always has them when i was growing up–but not in these colors–the deepest scarlet red I’ve ever seen and bubblegum pink and one close to violet!

    Comey is a total psychopath—the kind, like Fauci, who can present as perfectly normal, unlike sociopaths who can’t. But make no mistake: he’s very smart and knows exactly what he’s doing.

    He knows full well that posting a picture of seashells won’t land him in jail, or even lead to prosecution. But he also knows it might be just provocative enough to trigger someone into overreacting, like getting him investigated or arrested, which is exactly what he wants.

    The right response is not to take the bait. Ignore the seashells. Instead, charge him for brazenly and repeatedly lying to Congress in September 2020—something still well within the statute of limitations. And don’t do it in D.C. Charge him in Oklahoma, or another carefully chosen jurisdiction, because his lies had national consequences.

    Logan Rozos told members of his graduating class that “as I search my heart today in addressing you all … the only thing that is appropriate to say in this time and to a group this large is a recognition of the atrocities currently happening in Palestine.”

    Logan Rozos knew what the university’s rules were. He may have disagreed with them, but in accepting admittance at the school he tacitly agreed to abide by them. He didn’t, and now he counts the cost.

    Without naming Rozos, Beckman said the student speaker “lied about the speech he was going to deliver and violated the commitment he made to comply with our rules.”

    “The university is withholding his diploma while we pursue disciplinary actions,” (university spokesperson John) Beckman said, adding that the school is “deeply sorry that the audience was subjected to these remarks and that this moment was stolen by someone who abused a privilege that was conferred upon him.”

    There is as yet no indication as to what the disciplinary actions may be, or how long the diploma will be withheld; I’d be OK with “forever,” but that’s up to NYU….”

    1. i would also withhold diplomas from any who protest and disrupt classes on campus. and if those face covered protestors are ot students–arrest them–they have no reason to be on campus.
