    1. Morning, Pat! Sun isn’t up yet but it will be another scorcher thru tomorrow, then the storms roll in tomorrow night, possibly severe in some places, including my area. After that, highs in the 60’s, lows in the 40’s at night. Then again….they could be totally wrong!

        weather is so hit and miss these days. it’s cloudy with light rain here.
        i had a squirrel on the deck this morning…and he saw me and ran to the steps and i thought headed down. Nope…he just went down one step and then peaked up over the top step to see if i was still there. I took another step towards him and then he scooted for real–but made me laugh so hard.

EXCERPT: “Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard says the Biden-era mentality of treating conservatives and citizens with dissenting views like domestic terrorists was an “abuse of power,” signaling that a 2021 memo that empowered the FBI to probe Americans for “concerning non-criminal behavior” is no longer operative.

    Gabbard told Just the News in a statement Monday that she has ended the domestic terrorism approach of the Biden administration that was used to justify the targeting of conservative Catholics, gun enthusiasts and parents who protested school board policies.

    Just The News: “The Episcopal Church announced Monday it is ending its partnership with the U.S. government to resettle refugees – citing the Trump administration’s resettling of Afrikaners from South Africa, who are white, as a last straw. President Donald Trump has classified Afrikaners as refugees. 

    The Rev. Sean W. Rowe, the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, said he was informed last month that the church was expected to help resettle Afrikaners. “In light of our church’s steadfast commitment to racial justice and reconciliation and our historic ties with the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, we are not able to take this step,” Rowe wrote in a letter to members of the church.

    The denomination said the Episcopal Migration Ministries will move toward winding down federally funded services by the end of the federal fiscal year, in September. Rowe, in the letter, also said that in January the previous U.S. Refugee Admissions Program in which the church participated had essentially shut down. He said essentially no new refugees have since arrived and that hundreds of staff in resettlement agencies across the country have been laid off.

    In addition, he said, funding for resettling refugees who have already arrived has been uncertain. Then about two weeks ago, he said, the federal government informed Episcopal Migration Ministries that under the terms of its federal grant, it was expected to resettle Afrikaners.

    “I want to be very clear about why we made this decision,” Rowe also said in the letter. “It has been painful to watch one group of refugees, selected in a highly unusual manner, receive preferential treatment over many others who have been waiting in refugee camps or dangerous conditions for years.”

  11. The Federalist: “On Monday, dozens of South Africans — primarily white Afrikaner farmers — arrived in the United States, having been granted refugee status by the Trump administration. The propaganda press responded by implicitly accusing the administration of hypocrisy and racial bias. Yet this criticism is not only disingenuous — it reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose and limits of America’s refugee and asylum policies.

    A new South African law means white farmers could have their land taken away without being paid for it. Though framed as a correction to apartheid-era injustice, the law has created an environment where racially motivated persecution may become institutionalized. In response, the Trump administration announced both an investigation into South Africa and the approval of refugee status for 60 individuals fleeing the persecution.

    Under current U.S. law, a refugee is described as a foreigner who may face persecution in his home country on the basis of “race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.” The refugees will land in Virginia before taking up residence in 10 states, according to The Washington Post.

    Teo Armus, writing for The Washington Post, framed the administration’s decision as a racially charged exception: “Trump shut out refugees but is making White South Africans an exception.”

    “Months after the Trump administration ground U.S. refugee admissions to a halt, suspending a program that lets in thousands of people fleeing war or political persecution, it is preparing to restart that effort — but only for one group: White South Africans,” Armus wrote. He later contrasted this decision with the Trump administration’s attempt to halt the resettling of approximately 12,000 people, whom a district court judge ultimately ordered to be admitted to the country.

    The New York Times’ John Eligon wrote on Sunday that “Dozens of Afrikaners who claim discrimination in their home country flew out of Johannesburg on Sunday. Their departure for the U.S. came as the Trump administration was halting virtually all refugee admissions.”

    Eligon writes that the resettlement of the South African refugees comes as the administration “halted virtually all refugee admissions for people fleeing famine and war.”

    The admission of 60 refugees is minuscule compared to the thousands of resettlements the administration has attempted to halt. And while critics seize upon this as evidence of selective compassion spurred by bias, the truth is far more practical: Smaller, more culturally aligned groups tend to integrate more successfully into American communities. A handful of English-speaking farmers who share many of America’s civic and cultural values presents far less strain on communities than the resettlement of thousands of individuals from vastly different societies, such as Haiti, where integration challenges are numerous.

    Further, if the mere existence of famine or war were sufficient grounds for entry into the United States, we would be overwhelmed. According to the United Nations, more than 117 million people “were forcibly displaced” as of 2023, with more than 258 million facing acute food insecurity across 58 countries. If “famine” and “war” were the only eligibility threshold, the United States would be obligated to accept these foreigners under the left’s logic.

    But a successful refugee policy must balance sustainability and cultural coherence. This underscores the simple fact that at the core of the left’s criticism lies a deep confusion about the American identity and how that identity is tied to our refugee and asylum programs.

    As The Federalist’s John Daniel Davidson wrote in these pages, America is not an abstract ideological project, but a real country with a culture, a history, and a people. From this perspective, refugee policy must be guided not just by humanitarian instinct, but by national cohesion and cultural compatibility. A nation cannot sustain itself if it is unable or unwilling to discern which refugees will assimilate into and strengthen its national fabric.

    “Prioritizing certain foreigners over others is a repudiation of the popular but fatuous notion that any person from any culture or part of the world can become an American simply by going through a neutral administrative process. In other words, it matters where you come from, what you believe, and how you live,” Davidson explained. “In practice, that means it’s going to be easier for some foreigners to become Americans than it is for others.”

    “If we prioritize the Afrikaner farmer, as Trump proposes, it’s because his cultural and ancestral roots are largely the same as the pioneers and pilgrims who first came to America from Europe and whose descendants founded our republic,” Davidson continued.

    This isn’t xenophobia — it’s discernment. America’s leaders have an obligation to her people and her communities, and that includes exercising discretion when extending refugee or asylum status. A refugee policy that aligns with our founding values and shared cultural identity does not oppose diversity — it merely insists on compatibility with a goal not of racial homogeneity, but of cultural integrity.”

A recently-released Pittsburgh poll conducted in February pointed to western Pennsylvania Democrats’ disapproval of Fetterman — which also held true throughout the rural Bucks County town hall on the other side of the state.

    1. comical. when John was showing signs of mental difficulties after his stroke, PA voters were told to ignore them–John was stronger than ever. Now that he is voting his conscious, they don’t like him. There are many issues and a free thinking intelligent person’s views can change after finding out new information. but once you’re on that democrat plantation, they don’t want you to leave. and now they’re trying to railroad him out.

    A version of the bill was included in the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee’s budget package released on Monday.

    “The Invest America Act will trigger fundamental and transformative changes for the financial security and personal freedoms of American citizens for generations,” Cruz said. “Every child in America will have private investment accounts that will compound over their lives, enhancing the prosperity and economic participation of the vast majority of Americans.     The bill would create an Invest America account and allow contributions to be made by individuals, family members, friends, and businesses of up to $5,000 annually. Account investments would be allowed to be placed in a broad, low-cost fund that tracks the S&P 500. It would be tax-deferred until the child turns 18. Distributions after age 18 would be taxed at the capital gains rate, according to the bill language.

    The bill was filed after Cruz introduced multiple bills to advance savings plans for Americans.

      it doesn’t say when those funds CAN BE withdrawn. imagine all the fake SS numbers floating out there–fraudulent tax refunds that went out–gaming our system is so damned easy! we’ll be paying $1,000’s for millions of John or Mary Smiths and that money will vanish in no time!

  16. looking back i thought i posted this, but can’t find it, so if i already did, ignore this…lol
    talked to Mom this morning–she sounded like her old self–except her voice was raspy, so i told her to drink more water. They are getting her out of bed to use the bathroom which is great imo. she talked about the food and her mail (which SIL is taking in to her). Just like when we last visited. she is not happy about rehab, but i reminded her that my uncle, her older brother, did a stint in rehab this past year and he walks better than he did before. she had to admit i was right about that, so we’ll see. but she was coherent and feisty as always.

  17. Whew! I am badly out of shape! I just finished weeding the west flower bed – I had ignored it for a couple of years now – and need to re-do the edging. But I’ll wait until the ground is wet, which will happen late tomorrow. I also planted the last 2 lope hills. 2 of the 3 plants that have come up are from my lopes last year! Yeah! Now let’s just hope they produce!!And I’ve decided there’s enough paint on the trellis – it doesn’t have to be perfect and will be covered quickly with the Clematis. I’ll have Jason come and put the t-posts in after these storms pass.

      we have to go this weekend, hopefully, and get vegetables for the garden. hubby plants tomatoes and peppers and i usually plant zucchini. every year i try a watermelon plant but they never get bigger than a plum or a peach.

    Black fatigue BREAKS the internet — and it was only a matter of time

    The term “black fatigue” has recently taken the internet by storm, and Jason Whitlock of “Fearless” saw it coming from a decade away.

    “It is the antithesis, it is the yin to the yang of Black Lives Matter. It’s white people boldly expressing their fatigue with black people,” Whitlock explains, adding, “This was inevitable.”

    “That’s why I spent so much time during the whole Black Lives Matter psyop, about a decade, saying, ‘This is crazy, Black Lives Matter is going to create a boomerang effect, it’s going to harden hearts,’” he continues.

    The trending phrase is often accompanied in posts on social media by videos of black people behaving violently and dysfunctionally.

    “There’s an endless parade of these videos, and they’re all about black fatigue. Like, ‘I’m tired of black folks.’ Black folks have raised their hand and volunteered to be the enemies of white people and to be the people that want to cast white people as the worst thing on the planet, and eventually people’s patience has worn out,” Whitlock says.

    And people like Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) are only making it worse, which she couldn’t have done a better job of on one of her latest podcast appearances.

    “I mean, I’m not gonna say that, like, a left-leaning person cannot be violent, ‘cause that would be crazy to say that somebody can’t be, but baby, baby, y’all got the white supremacist galore. OK, like all of them, you got the Proud Boys, you got the neo-Nazis, you have people that literally should be classified as domestic terrorists,” Crockett said in her falsified accent.

    “Because a lot of times that is what they are doing, they are engaging in domestic terrorism. And guess what? They all align with your side, including the KKK,” Crockett continued, adding, “Inherently, in like who you are, y’all are violent.”

    “This is so illogical,” Whitlock says, tired. “The KKK, started by the Democratic Party, she’s blaming on Republicans and conservatives.”

    “She’s a congresswoman, and she’s presenting herself in this super ghetto fashion,” he continues, asking, “If you’re not fatigued by Jasmine Crockett, what planet are you living on?”

    There’s a video at the link of Jason Whitlock discussing this. IMO, for now, “Black Fatigue” is the perfect comeback to the bad behavior, nonsense, and racism that exists.

    The Directors Guild of America created the pseudonym in 1968 so directors wouldn’t have their real names attached to projects they felt had been compromised by producers or studios. The alias was used in dozens of films, TV episodes, and even music videos often without audiences realizing it wasn’t a real person.

  40. Just The News: “President Donald Trump on Tuesday confirmed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will represent his administration in Turkey, to oversee peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

    Trump previously floated attending the negotiations in Istanbul himself, highlighting how “relentlessly” he has been pushing to end the years-long war, and commented Monday that he would go if he thought it would help. The meeting will occur while Trump is on his first major overseas trip of the term, which is in the Middle East. 

    “Talks are being held in Turkey later this week — probably on Thursday, and they could produce some pretty good results,” Trump said. “Our people are going to be going there, Marco is going to be going there, others are going to be going, and we’ll see if we can get it done.”

    Rubio was already scheduled to attend a NATO meeting with other foreign ministers in Turkey, but will expand that to include the peace talks. He is also accompanying Trump on the Middle East trip to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.”
