Who Was George Carlin?
After dropping out of high school and enlisting in the Air Force, George Carlin began taking radio jobs, eventually (with partner Jack Burns) attracting the attention of Lenny Bruce, who helped get them appearances on The Tonight Show with Jack Paar. Carlin went on to become a popular stand-up comedian, author, and film and television actor.
Early Life
George Denis Patrick Carlin was born May 12, 1937, in the Bronx, New York. Carlin and his older brother, Pat, were primarily raised by their mother in Manhattan’s Morningside Heights neighborhood. Mary Carlin, a devout Irish Catholic, worked as a secretary to support her children. When George was an infant, she left Carlin’s father Patrick, who was a national advertising manager for the New York Sun.
Carlin attended parochial school and much of his negative religious sentiment stems from his experience as a Roman Catholic altar boy. Carlin completed two years of high school before dropping out in the ninth grade.
In 1954, at age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a radar technician and was stationed at Shreveport, Louisiana. Over the next three years, Carlin earned his high school equivalency and moonlighted as a disc jockey at a local radio station. He also received three courts-martial and numerous disciplinary punishments, according to his official Web site. After a general discharge in 1957, he took radio jobs in Boston and Fort Worth, Texas.
Early Comedy Career

In 1959, Carlin teamed up with Texas newscaster, Jack Burns. The pair collaborated on a morning radio show in Fort Worth before relocating to Hollywood, where they attracted the attention of the legendary Lenny Bruce. Bruce helped Burns and Carlin secure appearances on The Tonight Show with Jack Paar (Carlin would make a total of 130 appearances on The Tonight Show).
Burns and Carlin eventually split up, and over the next few years Carlin continued to make numerous appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, as well as 29 appearances on The Merv Griffin Show.
In the early 1960s, Carlin got his start as a stand-up comic by performing on the Las Vegas circuit and entertaining TV audiences. Carlin enjoyed moderate success until the mid-70s when he re-invented his image and adopted a less conventional, somewhat vulgar comedy routine. Carlin’s scripted monologues began to represent his disillusioned attitude toward the world in which explored the highly sensitive issues of Vietnam, politics, religion, American culture, drugs, the demise of humanity and the right to free speech.

Seven Words Routine
In July 1972, Carlin was arrested for violating obscenity laws in Milwaukee after his infamous routine “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television.”
When a radio station played a recording of Carlin’s “Seven Words” routine, it sparked a legal case over obscenity regulations. In 1978, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the government’s right to penalize stations that broadcast such material on public airwaves during hours (6 a.m. and 10 p.m.) when young people may typically tune in.
As a self-professed atheist and avid cocaine user, his adversaries deemed him anti-religious and disrespectful of society. However, the comedian’s new material brought him success from the younger counterculture. Carlin illustrated his anti-establishment views by being the first host of the risque TV show Saturday Night Live on October 11, 1975.

Comic Great
In 1977, Carlin starred in his first of HBO comedy specials, On Location: George Carlin at USC. In all, he did 14 such specials, including 2008’s It’s Bad For Ya!
In 1990, Carlin compiled a multi-CD set that highlighted his work from the 70s, titled George Carlin: The Little David Years (1971-’77) (1990). The collection included the albums: FM & AM, Class Clown, Occupation: Foole, Toledo Window Box, An Evening With Wally Londo Featuring Slaszo, and On the Road. Carlin received two Grammy Awards for FM & AM (1990) and Jammin’ in New York (1992), for which he won a Grammy. You Are All Diseased (1999) is abundant with his trademark satire and profanity about American family life.
Carlin published Brain Droppings in 1997. The book included his comedic take on life, society and politics. It spent 18 weeks on the New York Times‘ best-seller list. Two years later, syndicated columnist Mike Barnicle was suspended from the Boston Globe, after he had plagiarized passages from Carlin’s book. To Carlin’s benefit, the widely publicized controversy led to an increase in book sales.
Throughout his career, Carlin took on a number of comedic roles in films such as 1987’s Outrageous Fortune and as Rufus, an emissary from the future, in 1990’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. He took a more dramatic turn in The Prince of Tides (1991). He also was featured in Kevin Smith’s film Dogma (1999), in which he played Cardinal Glick, a fame-seeking religious figure. In 2006, he provided the voice of Fillmore, a hippie Volkswagen bus, in the animated Cars.

Legacy and Death
Carlin was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1987.
In the 1990s, Carlin enjoyed success with series television. Starting in 1991, he provided the voice of the train conductor on PBS’ kid-friendly Shining Time Station for two years and narrated Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends through 1998. He also starred as a cab driver in The George Carlin Show from 1993 to 1995.
In addition to his acting, writing and recording, Carlin continued to perform about 150 dates a year on the road. In 2004, he placed second behind Richard Pryor on Comedy Central’s list of “Top 100 Comics of All Time.” On June 17, 2008, just five days before his death, it was announced that he was being awarded the 11th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
Carlin’s first wife, producer Brenda Hosbrook, died on May 11, 1997 of complications from liver cancer. Their 35-year marriage produced a daughter, Kelly. He is survived by his second wife of ten years, Sally Wade.

Happy to help, my dear! Good morning! Brrrrr! It’s 54 here this morning and my feet are cold! Well….my feet are always cold but still….a few more days of stifling heat to get thru, then the temp drops into the 60’s/70’s like normal. The Orioles are flocking now – more and more every day. I’ll be ordering another case of jelly this morning. What’s the news about your Mom? Hope she is doing better.

Morning Filly!
I have no idea about Mom. my SIL told me Saturday night she was going to see Mom on Sunday and would call me and let me know how’s she’s doing and what room she was in and give me the phone number.
I waited all day yesterday–nothing. I called her after 8pm ( visiting hours would be over) but got voicemail. not even a text back. She still works, so she won’t be visiting Mom till later this afternoon–so Mom will be alone. smdh

How Nuclear Fears Pulled Reluctant Trump into India-Pak Clash, NYT Report Reveals
Our Take: Take note of the framing of this article. It’s India Today, citing NYT, and it paints Trump’s decision-making as so chaotic that Vance and Rubio needed to step in to prevent nuclear war.
That’s absurd on its face. Nuclear war is the favored threat of the neocon war machine, and this story paints Rubio and Vance as the super serious adults in the room — in opposition to President Trump.
This is clearly a narrative deployment. War is incredibly possible and peace is a devastating prospect for the powers taking in those profits. The narrative of war must continue for such characters in this story. The reality is that peace is not only possible, it’s rapidly being realized. What a time to be alive.
Side note: I’ll be surprised if Rubio makes it through the end of the year. Vance has a much longer character arc, and the jury is still out for me on which way that goes. — Ashe in America

Trump’s Meeting with Saudi Ruler Said Set to Include Leaders of PA, Lebanon, Syria
Our Take: When Trump said he had a “major announcement on a certain subject that some people have waited many years [for resolution],” it seems to me that he was referring to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the promise he made to Abbas when Abbas visited the White House on May 3, 2017. (17 days before the Sword Dance.)
Now we have Mahmoud Abbas coming to Riyadh in a rare moment of defiance where the “radical” position is to make real lasting peace. President Trump has rug-pulled everybody by defying expectations and formally recognizing Palestinian statehood. This is a courageous act of defiance for Trump, considering the number of people — Trump’s peers/friends — in DC, New York City, and South Florida who are going to be upset over this.
Bringing in Jolani from Syria and Auoun from Lebanon is a heady play because it represents all of the neighbors with which Israel shares a border — and against whom Israel is currently engaged in offensive operations.
Above all, this act by Trump sends a clear signal to Tel Aviv about his vision for how this all ends. President Trump is drawing a line firmly in front of Mahmoud Abbas, and letting Netanyahu know that Abbas is Trump’s guy. — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

Hmmm….wonder if he’s had his naughty bits nipped???
EXCERPT: “On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in favor of President Donald Trump, clearing the path for the administration to move forward with its plan to ban transgender people from serving in the military. The plan would also remove current transgender service members as the lower courts continue to debate the legality of the ban.
The Supreme Court order is not a final ruling on the issue, but will remain in place as litigation proceeds.
Approximately how many service members will be impacted is unclear. Recent figures from the Defense Department reported 4,240 — or 0.2 percent — of about 2 million service members have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria. Data from previous years by advocacy groups has calculated the number to be much higher, at around 15,000.
Among those transgender service members is Commander Emily Shilling, who has served in the Navy for almost two decades. A naval aviator with over 60 combat missions under her belt, she is the lead plaintiff suing the administration to overturn the ban. Shilling told Women Rule that it’s her duty not only to follow lawful orders but to challenge those she believes to be unlawful…..”
“…..Before I came out, I was a 36-year-old white man, married, three kids, two cars, a dog, a house, and I didn’t think racism existed. I didn’t think sexism existed. I didn’t see any of them because I never experienced them. And when I got put into one of the most despised groups in the country right now or vilified groups, the transgender community, I’m hearing this bigotry and this transphobia, and it really opened my eyes that maybe I didn’t have it all right, and just because I hadn’t seen or experienced it myself, maybe I was wrong. I learned so much that I had never seen or been willing to see. I’m able to connect with my people in a way that I’ve never been able to. And that is true leadership….”

Filly, I identify with the same gender that was assigned me at birth. Most people do. Yes, there are a few variants, but gender is coded for in every cell and every physiological milestone. Yes, many people have “gender dysphoria”. That is not the same as physical, emotional and hormonal manipulation, in attempts to cosmetically alter one’s sexuality. Bottom line is we still have only two sexes, male and female. The US military needs to accept the biology spoken by X and Y chromosomes.

Just The News: “The U.S. and China on Monday announced the details of a trade agreement reached over the weekend in which the countries vastly scale back their massive reciprocating tariffs for 90-days.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the U.S. agreed to lower its 145% tariff rate on Chinese goods down to 30%, while China agreed to lower its tariff rate on U.S. goods from 125% to 10%, with each country dropping their respective rates by 115 percentage points, according to the Associated Press.
Greer and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the tariff deal in Geneva, following the weekend of negotiations with their Chinese counterparts. “The consensus from both delegations this weekend is neither side wants a decoupling,” Bessent said. “And what had occurred with these very high tariff … was an embargo, the equivalent of an embargo. And neither side wants that. We do want trade.”
The Chinese Commerce Ministry said that both sides agreed to cancel 91% in tariffs on each other’s goods and pause another 24% in tariffs for 90 days, resulting in a total reduction of 115 percentage points.
“This initiative aligns with the expectations of producers and consumers in both countries and serves the interests of both nations as well as the common interests of the world,” the Commerce Ministry said in a statement.”

“Pro-life lawmakers from across the country are demanding that Congress put an end to federal funding for Planned Parenthood, calling on Republicans to use their “trifecta” in Washington.
The letter, sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Idaho Senator Mike Crapo, and Kentucky Rep. Brett Guthrie and signed by 183 legislators, urges Republican leadership to include a measure to defund “Big Abortion” in the budget reconciliation bill, which is scheduled for markups on Tuesday. Planned Parenthood rakes in tens of millions from taxpayers every year, according to its annual reports, while performing about 400,000 abortions between 2021 and 2022.
https://cdn01.dailycaller.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/FINAL-5.12.25-State-Legislature-Defunding-Letter.pdf
“As pro-life state legislators from across the country who are members of the National Pro-Life Leaders Network, we are deeply concerned with the way that big abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood prey on unborn children and hurt women, all while receiving hundreds of millions of dollars from American taxpayers,” the letter, first shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation, reads. “With a Republican trifecta in Washington, it is time to use the budget reconciliation process to defund big abortion providers like Planned Parenthood.”
The letter also cites several cases of botched abortions that have occurred at Planned Parenthood and deteriorating conditions at the clinics that have had disastrous results. In one case, a baby was never removed from a woman’s womb, and the woman later gave birth to the child who quickly passed away, according to The New York Times. At a Nebraska clinic in 2022, an abortion provider neglected to notice a woman was four months pregnant before inserting an IUD, leading her to deliver a stillborn baby just hours later.
“Planned Parenthood has regularly opposed basic health and safety requirements for their facilities, all while providing poor care,” the letter says. “Women deserve better than this. Women and girls can receive better and more comprehensive care at Federally Qualified Health Centers and community health centers that vastly outnumber Planned Parenthoods.”
The state of Missouri is currently suing Planned Parenthood for allegedly helping a man traffic a 13-year-old girl across state lines in order to receive an abortion without her parents’ knowledge.
“Pro-life has always been a big issue for me; it’s something I believe down to my very core, and I have always been very disappointed that federal dollars go to support an organization like Planned Parenthood that is happily destroying life and babies,” Republican Pennsylvania Rep. Kathy Rap told the DCNF. ” I believe it is time to send a strong message to our congressional leaders, both in the House and Senate and to the administration, that the majority of the American people do not want to fund Planned Parenthood when women have other resources that they can seek out for funding for prenatal health and maternal health. I do not believe that most of our citizens want to support an organization whose main goal is to perform abortions.”
Planned Parenthood did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.”

“New pope’s brother shared social media post describing Pelosi as a ‘drunk c***’”
American Wire, May 12, 2025 | Chris Donaldson
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The new American pope’s brother is apparently no fan of Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats, sharing a social media post that described the former speaker as a “drunk c***” along with others mocking leftists with TDS.
Democrats were quick to pounce on posts to X by Robert Francis Prevost, who is now known as Pope Leo XIV, that were critical of President Donald J. Trump and Vice President JD Vance, but they are unlikely to be as thrilled by the opinions of his brother, who seems to be a Trump supporter.
In a slew of Facebook posts that were unearthed by left-wing media outlet The Daily Beast, Louis Prevost of Port Charlotte, Florida, mocks leftists and shared another user’s rant about “liberals crying about tariffs” that featured a much younger Pelosi in a video from the mid-1990s advocating for tariffs on China.
The user opined that Pelosi was a booze-soaked C-word and implied that her husband, Paul Pelosi, is a homosexual in the post that was shared by Prevost on April 5.
Some speculated about Paul Pelosi’s sexuality when the investment wizard was attacked inside the couple’s San Francisco mansion by a man wielding a hammer in the wee hours of the morning in October 2022. Mrs. Pelosi claims to be a devout Catholic despite her unwavering devotion to abortion, a practice that is morally opposed by the church.
In another post, Prevost rips former President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats.
In February, Prevost posted a meme of a distraught blue-haired female with a young boy in a doctor’s office with the caption of “YOUR CHILD ISN’T TRANS – YOU’RE JUST A SH*TTY PARENT.”
Another post shows a cartoon image of a mental institution with the caption, “Where the woke lived before the 70s,” with Prevost writing, “True.”
Other posts were critical of members of Congress who sucked up to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy who refuses to hold elections and supporters of disgraced former President Joe Biden.
The 73-year-old said that he was surprised to get the news that his brother was the new pope, according to the New York Times. “My brother’s the pope,” he said while sitting on his porch. “Yikes.”
“I don’t know that you can just pick up the phone and call the pope,” he said. “It’s like calling the president or something. You come at me, guess what? You’re going to feel the wrath,” Prevost said of his holy brother. “I’m of that mindset. Rob, not so much.”

“Whiny DOJ Lifers Start Support Group: Why do presumably tough law enforcement officials need intense therapy and group hugs to get over losing their jobs at the Trump Department of Justice? And what does this say about the DOJ?”
Julie Kelly, May 12, 2025
EXCERPT: “It takes a special kind of hubris to help destroy the public’s trust in what was once one of the most trusted institutions in America only to write a sanctimonious letter on your way out the door blaming others for what happened.
Such is the typical mindset of hundreds if not thousands of former employees of the U.S. Department of Justice. Since November 2024, the media has covered a nonstop belch of resignation letters, social media posts, and dire warnings of doom authored by DOJ employees either forced out by Trump officials or who walked out on their own accord amid political disagreements with their new DOJ bosses.
One of the most recent missives, as I covered last month, involved dozens of DOJ has-beens opposed to the confirmation of Ed Martin, the interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. A few of the signatories, as they call themselves, left the office before Martin was even born. (The president pulled Martin’s appointment amid opposition from key Republican Senators; Martin will now head the DOJ’s Weaponization Working Group.)
Another target of the cottage industry of ex-DOJ crybabies is Harmeet Dhillon, head of the civil rights division. After taking office last month, Dhillon, a longtime conservative attorney, issued a series of memos informing her employees that the office’s mission would align with the president’s priorities rather than the political goals of the Democratic Party. The move led to a groundswell of opposition within the division’s ranks, prompting many lawyers to make plans for the exit.
A former senior DOJ official called the departure of top employees at the division, last seen under the Biden regime hauling 70-year-old women to federal prison for protesting at abortion clinics, “a complete bloodbath.”
The New York Times reported that at least two-thirds of the division’s lawyers and support staff are expected to leave in the coming weeks either as an act of protest or by accepting the administration’s deferred resignation program, intended to cut the ranks of the federal workforce.
“With the reckless dismantling of the division, we’ll see unchecked discrimination and constitutional violations in schools, housing, employment, voting, prisons, by police departments and in many other realms of our daily lives,” former DOJ lawyer Stacey Young told the Times.
Young went on to make more outlandish predictions including claiming the exodus of career lawyers at DOJ would result in “police officers shoot[ing] men because they are black.” Watch:….”

“‘We’re coming back to burn it down!’ — Church threatened with arson in Avignon, police deployed to guard Sunday Mass”
ReMIX News, By Thomas Brooke, May 12, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “A group of young men stormed the Montfavet church in Avignon on Saturday evening, shouting, “Allahu Akbar” and threatening to burn the church down — an act of intimidation that forced police to guard the building during Sunday’s morning Mass.
The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m., just as the evening Mass had ended. According to Fr. Laurent Milan, the parish priest, the confrontation began when a teenage boy arrived at the church claiming he wanted to convert. Soon after, around 10 others followed, some stating they were Muslims and asking to come inside.
According to reports by La Provence, the group quickly turned aggressive. “One of them began running around. They gathered around the priest and started hurling insults. It was chaos. We struggled to get them out,” one parishioner told the French news outlet.
According to Fr. Milan, the young men hurled explicit insults targeting Christianity and made repeated threats. “They didn’t insult me directly, but they shouted things like, ‘Jesus, we’re f***ing you,’” he said. “They were shouting ‘Allahu Akbar,’ and told us several times, ‘We’re going to come back and burn your church.’”
The priest filed a police complaint that same night, and five witnesses are understood to have already spoken to law enforcement. A police source confirmed an investigation is underway for “non-public insults because of religion” and “threats of dangerous destruction to persons.” As of Sunday, no arrests had been made, while worshippers arriving for the day’s morning service were met with patrol cars and visible security.
According to Fr. Milan, the church has seen a spike in anti-social and threatening behavior in recent weeks. Just days earlier, on May 7, another group of youths disrupted a parish meeting by shouting and banging on the windows.
“We’ve had a computer stolen, candles taken,” he said. “Some even throw their ball against the church walls during Mass, deliberately trying to disrupt us. This isn’t just disrespect,” Fr. Milan added. “This is a threat, and it’s not the first.”
Avignon city officials say they are taking the threats seriously. “Nothing justifies insults or threats against religious representatives or places of worship,” said Deputy Mayor Claude Nahoum. “We are following the matter closely.”

People like this should be locked up in an asylum!!! Beyond disgusting, whether he was of age of not!!!
ENTIRE ARTICLE @ ReMIX: “Gustav Hemming, a former regional councillor and long-serving member of Sweden’s Centre Party, has been charged with sexual molestation of a child after allegedly exposing and touching his genitals in front of a 13-year-old boy on the Roslagsbanan commuter train in August 2024. The incident was captured on CCTV footage and led to Hemming’s resignation from political life in December.
In police interview transcripts accessed by Swedish news outlet SVT, Hemming acknowledged that he is the man seen in the video but denied criminal intent. He described the act as a “misjudged” moment of what he perceived to be mutual attraction. “I do not believe that I deliberately targeted a minor,” Hemming told police. “I looked around a bit and perceived some type of contact there… I perceived a reciprocity that can be sexually arousing in an anonymous environment.”
The 13-year-old victim, however, told police that he had been looking at his phone during the train ride and looked up to discover a man masturbating nearby. “It was really strange,” the boy said. “I thought, ‘What the hell is he doing?’”
Alarmed by the encounter, the boy called his parents upon getting off the train, fearing he might be followed. In later testimony, he expressed concern about seeing the man again, saying the experience had left a lasting sense of anxiety.
Hemming told investigators he believed the boy was older, citing what he described as the teenager’s “conscious style of dress” and “a certain self-confidence.” He also claimed that because the incident occurred in the afternoon on public transport, he assumed most passengers would be of high school age or older.
He did admit, however, to a serious error in judgment. “I think that this person has reported me, which means that I have made a very big misjudgment of this person’s attitude.”
Regarding the public reaction, Hemming said the case has had a devastating effect on his personal and professional life. “Of course, I’m very ashamed. This is also something that has become big news that has reached everyone I know and a larger public. It’s not something you ever want to be a part of.”
The Centre Party refused to comment publicly on the incident following Hemming’s resignation. Hemming is currently awaiting trial.”

“I think maybe the use of the word ‘never’ is a bit misleading in this sense. The dates that are printed on the cans and labels are called ‘best if used by’ dates, not ‘expiration dates’. The reality of this is that most – if not all – of these products are pre-cooked and sealed in air-tight conditions so that their shelf lives are almost undeterminable. Whether or not you’d trust a 20 year old can of chicken is up to you. Juss’ sayin’…”

“An advocacy group for illegal immigrants dropped a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Thursday after claiming officials planned to deport a 2-year-old U.S. citizen.
The left-leaning National Immigration Project alleged in its April 24 lawsuit that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had detained a mother named Jenny Carolina Lopez-Villela, her 11-year-old daughter and her 2-year-old, who is a U.S. citizen. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Lopez-Villela entered the country illegally three times before she signed a letter agreeing to take her U.S.-born daughter with her to Honduras.
Lopez-Villela and the eleven-year-old already had deportation orders against them, the National Immigration Project’s lawsuit said. The orders for removal came in 2020 after the first illegal entry by Lopez-Villela and her older daughter, according to a Saturday DHS press release. The other two illegal entries happened under the Biden administration.
The government showed the court a copy of Lopez-Villela’s letter about the 2-year-old American citizen, translated as, “I, Jenny Carolina Lopez [Villela], will bring my daughter, Valentina Mendez Lopez, with me to Honduras.”
The Trump administration said two other individuals in the U.S. had asked to be legal custodians of the 2-year-old but had not proven their identity. “Taking [her] away from her mother and placing her in the custody of individuals who are seemingly unprepared to establish their identities would pose a greater risk of harm,” the government said in a filing.
The DHS press release named the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) as the plaintiff in the “baseless lawsuit,” despite court records only showing the National Immigration Project. The DHS and ACLU did not immediately respond to inquiries from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
National Immigration Project is part of the National Lawyers Guild, an advocacy group that often represents alleged leftist rioters in court. National Immigration Project did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The group said in an April 30 press release that ICE is deporting parents who are taking their children with them “under duress,” and therefore, “there was no meaningful decision to be made.” The ACLU has also repeated claims of ICE deporting “U.S. citizen children.”
The DHS said in a Saturday X post, however, that “the narrative that DHS is deporting American children is false and irresponsible reporting,” referring to media headlines about the issue.”

they’re only claiming the baby is a US citizen because she dropped it here…no birthright citizenship–especially after she had a deportation order.

“House Republicans unveiled sweeping changes to Medicaid on Sunday evening, including provisions to defund Planned Parenthood and bar taxpayer dollars from being used to fund child sex change procedures.
The proposal from the House Energy and Commerce (E&C) committee comes as House Republicans are racing to pass President Donald Trump’s “one big, beautiful bill” by the end of next week ahead of the Memorial Day recess. House E&C Republicans are proposing to prevent organizations that provide abortions, such as Planned Parenthood, from receiving Medicaid reimbursements for the non-abortion services they offer despite opposition from several moderate GOP lawmakers.
The House E&C Committee has been tasked with identifying at least $880 billion in cuts over a ten-year period to help pay for the president’s sweeping tax priorities. Speaker Mike Johnson is aiming to find at least $1.5 trillion in savings over the period across all House committees.
House E&C Chairman Brett Guthrie of Kentucky reportedly told GOP lawmakers Sunday that lawmakers are on track to cut more than $900 billion over the course of a decade to programs under the panel’s jurisdiction, including Medicaid.
Though the Hyde Amendment bans federal dollars from directly funding abortions, pro-life advocates have demanded that Congressional Republicans end all taxpayer funding to entities that provide abortions.
The provision faces uncertain prospects, however, due to reported opposition from moderate GOP lawmakers who want to preserve Planned Parenthood’s non-abortion services. Johnson can afford to lose just three GOP votes on the president’s budget reconciliation package assuming all members are present and voting.
“[E]very GOP House member, even the pro-choice ones, must do the right thing and vote to pass it and end forced taxpayer funding of abortion,” Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins wrote on X Sunday evening.
Guthrie also praised the bill for banning Medicaid from funding child sex change procedures. House Republicans previously targeted left-wing gender ideology in December 2024 by prohibiting the military’s health program, TRICARE, from covering sex change procedures for minors.
“The federal government shouldn’t be subsidizing these procedures in any form, and I am proud that we will be protecting all our children from the lasting, harmful effects of these procedures,” Guthrie wrote in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal Sunday.
The House Republicans’ bill would also slash Medicaid spending by imposing work requirements on able-bodied adults in order to qualify and allowing for more frequent eligibility checks to ensure only those who are qualified remain on the entitlement program’s rolls.
Guthrie is seeking to go on the offensive against accusations that GOP lawmakers are stripping millions of Americans of healthcare coverage by reforming the entitlement program.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the House E&C bill would reduce the number of Medicaid recipients by roughly 8.5 million in 2034. “Undoubtedly, Democrats will use this as an opportunity to engage in fear-mongering and misrepresent our bill as an attack on Medicaid,” Guthrie wrote in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal on Sunday. “In reality, it preserves and strengthens Medicaid for children, mothers, people with disabilities and the elderly — for whom the program was designed.”
Democratic New Jersey Rep. Frank Pallone, the top Democrat on the House E&C panel, slammed House Republicans’ budget bill for allegedly incorporating “devastating Medicaid cuts so billionaires can get another tax break.”
Senate Majority Leader John Thune has floated passing the budget reconciliation package through the upper chamber by July 4th.”

“Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is leading Republican Sen. John Cornyn by double digits in the 2026 Texas Senate race, according to a recent Republican primary poll.
Paxton is ahead of Cornyn by 16 percentage points — 56% to 40% — in a two-way poll commissioned by the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), Punchbowl News first reported on Monday. Meanwhile, in a hypothetical three-way matchup with Republican Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt, who is reportedly considering entering the primary contest, Paxton notched 44% of the vote to Cornyn’s 34% and Hunt’s 19%.
SLF, a super PAC that supports Republicans, is backing Cornyn’s Senate reelection bid. Senate Majority Leader John Thune and National Republican Senatorial Committee chair Tim Scott have encouraged President Donald Trump to endorse Cornyn in the Senate GOP primary, CNN first reported in April. Trump has yet to make an endorsement in the contest.
The survey also found that in a head-to-head matchup with former Democratic Texas Rep. Colin Allred, who is reportedly mulling another Senate run, Cornyn led by 6 points and Hunt led by points — but Paxton trailed by 1 point, Punchbowl News reported. Allred was the failed Democratic nominee for Texas’ other Senate seat in 2024, losing to incumbent Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz by 8.5 points.
“Senator Cornyn has a 99% voting record with Trump as President and continues to be his close legislative ally,” Matt Mackowiak, a senior campaign adviser for Cornyn, said in a statement shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation. “In ten months, when Texas GOP primary voters completely understand the record of both candidates, we are confident we will win.”
“The numbers don’t lie – John Cornyn is in a far better early position than Ken Paxton,” SLF Communications Director Chris Gustafson told Punchbowl News. “Texans only need one quick look at Paxton’s record before his support plummets, and it’s clear he would risk delivering the Senate majority to Chuck Schumer.”
Regardless of who wins the GOP primary, early forecasts show that the Texas Senate seat is likely to stay in Republican hands. The non-partisan Cook Political Report has rated the race as “Solid R.” However, some Democratic strategists believe that in the event of a 2026 “blue wave,” an upset Senate win in Texas could potentially make the difference in the party’s long-shot bid to take control of the upper chamber.
The poll was conducted from April 27 to May 1 by the Tarrance Group. Paxton’s campaign did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.”

talked to my SIL. Mom definitely has a UTI and an infection in her legs. But she is doing much better she said. talking much more coherently. She will be in the hospital a few days yet, then she goes to rehab for her walking. after that, she either has to have someone come and visit her every day (nurse, therapist, whatever) OR she HAS to stay at the nursing home. That will be a battle.
SIL said Mom told her I called yesterday morning–that’s why she didn’t call me all day. I laughed and said–how? i don’t know where she is exactly or a room number or phone number.

Well, that’s a relief! I expect she will cave to someone coming by every day when faced with the nursing home option!
I took the boxes down to the City for recycling (I managed to get the box in my truck but the City Manager, who was in the garage when I got there, got it out and threw it into the bin for me -he looked in the back of my truck at first, I guess expecting the cardboard to be there. I thought I had a lot of boxes but apparently not!), stopped at the grocery store to order a case of jelly, and returned the bad paint. Feels good to have that all done.

“About 300 miles off the coast of Oregon, an underwater volcano appears to be rumbling to life. Scientists who have been monitoring the vast submarine volcano for decades say a flurry of recent activity — including an uptick in earthquakes in the vicinity, and swelling of the structure itself — signals that it’s ready to erupt.
Current forecasts project that the volcano, known as Axial Seamount, could erupt anytime between now and the end of the year, according to Bill Chadwick, a volcanologist and research professor at Oregon State University…”

“Attempted Murder at Fort Detrick Bio-Lab Halts Operations: Sabotage, negligence, and a ridiculous management contract”
John Leake, May 09, 2025
“Ever since the anthrax letter attacks on September 18, 2001, the U.S. Bio-Lab at Fort Detrick has struck me as emblematic of U.S. government recklessness and unaccountability. Recall that, on that day, letters containing anthrax spores arrived at news media offices and at the offices of senators Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy, who were leading opposition to the Patriot Act.
These attacks killed five people and infected seventeen others. The result of the attacks was that the U.S. military’s anthrax vaccine program—which had been halted the previous June due to safety concerns—was resuscitated, and on June 28, 2002, all military personnel were again required to receive the vaccine.
The attacks were staged to appear to be the work of either Iraqi agents or Islamic terrorists. However, FBI quickly ascertained that they weren’t the work of a foreign adversary, but had most likely been committed by someone working in U.S. bio-security.
After years of dithering and obfuscation, the FBI finally announced (in 2008) they’d been perpetrated by Bruce Edwards Ivins, a scientist working at Fort Detrick’s biodefense lab.
Ivins was angry and desperate because the anthrax vaccine program to which he’d dedicated his life’s work was cancelled in June 2001. And so, he took it upon himself to “show” the U.S. government and American people just how much they needed his vaccine.
What is especially perfidious about this incident is that—although the FBI knew the attacks were not the work of a foreign adversary—the DoD still used the attacks as a pretext for resuscitating the anthrax vaccine program, thereby enabling Ivins’s gambit to succeed.
Congress used the attacks as a pretext for passing the 2002 Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act, with additional funds allocated for vaccine development. Indeed, the anthrax attacks played a decisive role in creating the atmosphere of fear that led to the passage of the 2005 PREP Act, which paved the way for all of the liability free abuse and fraud of the 2020 pandemic response.
It was only revealed in 2008 that the biggest bioterrorism attack in U.S. history was committed by a senior Department of Defense researcher. By then, the American people had moved on from all of the trauma the U.S. government had inflicted on them in “Islamic Terror” years of 2001—2008.
A presidential election and financial crisis were brewing, and it seems that few Americans noticed all of the tricks that had been pulled by their awful government in the wake of the 2001 anthrax attacks.
Now comes that the news that NIH Director, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, has halted operations of the BSL-4 lab at Fort Detrick, following a reports of attempted murder by sabotage and negligence. Director Bhattacharya announced the news on his X account.
Adding to the controversy is the revelation—posted by Dr. Richard Ebright on X—that Fort Detrick’s bio-lab operations are managed by Laulima Government Solutions, a Native Hawaiian LLC based in an office park in Orlando, Florida under a $116 million minority-set-aside contract.
Note that, already in 2017, Dr. Ebright warned about bio-lab safety at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and other labs. In his post on Fort Detrick, he made the following observation:
These are the kinds of decisions— and the kinds of people making them—who are allegedly “protecting” us from dangerous pathogens. Shut it down. We the People are tired of the U.S. government and DoD doing all of this stupid, wasteful, and reckless nonsense with our tax dollars.”

our gov’t ENABLES people who want to do this crap and are surprised when they are actually deranged enough to see it thru–unleash the pathogens or send dangerous substances to kill people.

“Electric forests…Trees respond to a solar eclipse…
Solar eclipses aren’t just for homo sapiens. Researchers have long known that birds, insects, and many other mammals pay attention when the Moon slides in front of the sun. Now we can add trees to the list…The scientists explain:
‘As the eclipse approached, electrical signals from different trees began to align; their waveforms became more similar in shape and timing. This synchronization peaked during the eclipse and gradually diminished afterward. The older trees started showing electrical changes earlier, hours before the eclipse began, while the youngest tree responded later and more weakly. The tree stumps also exhibited a bioelectrical response, albeit less pronounced than in the standing trees.’
The researchers interpreted this as a coordinated “organism-like” response to a large-scale environmental event, possibly involving communication or shared signaling pathways…Awesome!”
