“God Blessed The USA”
Newsletter | May 8, 2025
“How much God do you need?” a member of a North Carolina school board recently asked. It wasn’t a rhetorical question. Pam Escobar wasn’t urging other school board members to let God come into their lives and fill their souls with faith, hope, and charity. No, the leftwing progressive and former news anchor was excoriating one of her conservative colleagues who wanted to open the meeting with a prayer. “How much prayer do you need?” Escobar sneered. “How much God do you need?”
The correct answer is “more.” If you’re like most Americans, probably much more, much more God and much more prayer — even if you attend church or synagogue regularly, even if you pray a lot. Most of us want to connect to God, we want to live lives full of faith, hope, and charity. We vow at Christmas or Easter, and then, well, life gets busy again.
At the time of publishing this newsletter, U.S. Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected as the new Pope. During the conclave, and in our own ways, we were moved by the mysteries of the ancient ceremony, and Vatican insider accounts of the back-room machinations of some of the world’s most gifted politicians jockeying for worldly power. And so it goes that a new pope is chosen. May the Church’s new pontiff bring blessings to us all, God’s children.
Time will tell if the new pontiff does not disappoint the faithful masses and is an exemplar whose words and actions fill our spirits with joy and return us to the righteous path and restore God’s light in our souls. But these are men, the popes, and there is only one perfect being in the universe, He who created it. Finally, it’s up to us to find our way back to Him.
It’s not always easy. We’re surrounded by signposts of ugliness, depravity, and decadence. Artists once celebrated beauty bathed in light and color, and now raise public monuments to demons and deviants. But we’re reminded that the darkness is always with us, sometimes it’s even represented where it least belongs, on local school boards.
The fact remains that our Founding Fathers grounded the new nation in faith in the Almighty. And our rights — starting with those rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — are God-given as He has made us in His image. It seems that from the very start, the question, “How Much God do you need?” was central to the Founders’ conception of America. More, they answered in the country they left us, much more and always more.”

I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.
