  1. Morning All!

    1. Good morning, Pat! I’m going to send you some hummer feeders – I’ve got 3 or 4 of them and don’t use them any more. The hummers will be all over the Honeysuckle vines on the trellis and the Trumpet vines in front.

Considering all the rain you’re getting, I’m not surprised your pond is filling up. Temp started out at tis morning at 49 but it’s already up to 51 with highs predicted in the 70’s. The forecast yesterday predicts summer temps by the end of the week, 80-88 thru next Friday, w/only a slight chance of rain. Short spring!

Sunday I spent a few hours painting the trellis white in preparation for installing it where the ladder/Uncle Sam/chair used to be since they’ve all fallen apart. The red clematis is going gang-busters so I’ll plant that this year – yes, the same one I’ve been babying along for 3 years! If the white one comes up, I’ll transplant it this year; if not, I’ll probably just leave it at the 2 plants – the so-called “blue” one is really purple – but it’ll do!

Yesterday, Jason & his wife mowed and did the weed eating (it looks so pretty!) and we agreed that I should install 2 t-posts and attach the trellis to that. If it’s on the house itself, like I had originally planned, it could snake it’s way in behind the siding. So t-posts and white spray paint are again on the shopping list. I also noticed that the paint is peeling on my window frames…..again…..sigh….more exterior white paint is needed since I used what I had on the trellis.

I almost miss the days when I rented and such problems weren’t mine to deal with – just call the landlord! Almost…..but not quite! LOL

      1. Morning Filly!
there is water running everywhere! whatever caused the shift over the winter (creating the thick ice shelf in the driveway) is still in play. water is seeping out of the bank behind the house and creating little streams in the grass. hubby was planning on mowing soon…sigh.

I envy you planting flowers–and the gorgeous colors!! I bet it’s gonna be beautiful!
I saved the pieces of the hummer feeders with the holes in them and hubby saved the bear pix from the camera in case we need to shoot at it if it comes back too often. we have visual evidence of the nuisance it’s become.
thank you for the feeders–are you sure you won’t use them???

        1. Oh, yeah! I’m not close enough to be able to actually “see” them anyway. I am keeping the one that Marilyn gave me but I’ve got 3 packaged up, ready to ship. One is glass but it’s safely wrapped – it’s an iridescent red that is gorgeous in the sunshine. It has a moat on the top where you can add water to keep the ants off – they just drown. You’ll definitely want to bring that in at night or if you’re going to be gone. Or not! Up to you! LOL

          1. THANK YOU!
we normally bring them in every night. but we only began to see hummers Thursday i think and decided to risk leaving them up–high enough to thwart the raccoons. we hadn’t seen any signs of bear yet, so we thought we were safe in that regard.

              1. once they really start returning I have 4 feeders out there. right now we only have 2 to put out, but we’ve only seen 2 hummers (at once)…so we’ve got time. in the summer, there will be dozens.

  2. I don’t quite get this…
    article
The President Donald Trump-aligned legal group America First Legal Foundation on Monday sued Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts, accusing him of acting beyond his scope as head of the U.S. Judicial Conference.

The lawsuit was also lodged against Robert Conrad, who serves as the director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, according to Fox News.

The legal action accuses the men of operating beyond their scope of resolving cases or controversies, citing their cooperation with Congress in helping them investigate Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, and a willingness to create or adopt a code of ethics for the court.

“Under our constitutional tradition, accommodations with Congress are the province of the executive branch,” the foundation said. “The Judicial Conference and the Administrative Office are therefore executive agencies,” which would be overseen by the president and not the courts.

U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden will preside over the case.

  3. from American Thinker:

Florida attorney general rejects federal judge’s ruling on immigration

    By Susan Quinn

For Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, the meddling of U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams was one step too far when she ruled to override a new Florida law:

An activist judge has ordered Florida to stop the enforcement of their recent law allowing misdemeanor charges for illegal aliens who enter Florida to evade immigration authorities. This is the showdown; a judge’s order is about to be effectively defied by a major state official.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier will refuse a judge’s demand that his office order state law enforcement to halt enforcement of a state immigration law she ordered paused under her suspicion of its unconstitutionality.

Once again, we see a judge swerving out of her lane to reject not only Donald Trump’s agenda for immigration enforcement, but to stymie efforts by an attorney general who is arresting illegal migrants for misdemeanor charges as the migrants dodge immigration enforcement.

The judge is offended by the AG’s reaction to her ruling:

Her [Williams’s] remarks came after she previously had scolded lawyers for Uthmeier’s office after learning that Florida Highway Patrol officers had arrested more than a dozen people — including a U.S. citizen — despite her ordering them to stop on April 4 when she issued a 14-day temporary restraining order that blocked enforcement on the state’s immigration law.

The judge told lawyers for the attorney general on Tuesday to consult with Uthmeier about withdrawing his advice to police officers to ignore her order, but they said Uthmeier was not retreating from his position.

‘What I am offended by is someone suggesting you don’t have to follow my order, that it’s not legitimate,’ Williams said.

I’d describe the judge’s reaction as a bit on the arrogant side.

Meanwhile, AG Uthmeier notified the law enforcement agencies in Florida that they were not parties to the judge’s rulings and therefore could continue to enforce the law:

In a court filing leading up to Tuesday’s hearing, Uthmeier’s office argued that the immigrant groups’ lawsuit only applies to his office and state prosecutors in Florida, noting that ‘a court’s judgment binds only the parties to a suit.’

Lawyers for his office argued the judge’s ruling does not apply to ‘independent’ law enforcement agencies, such as the Florida Highway Patrol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, county sheriffs’ offices and local police.

‘They are not parties,’ the attorney general’s office asserted, because they are not ‘in active concert or participation with’ his office and state prosecutors in Florida.

The judge has scheduled a special hearing for May 15, which may include finding Uthmeier in contempt of court.

Finally, the Attorney General explained why he rejects the judge’s ruling:

‘I explained that I believed her after-the-fact expansion of her order to nonparties was wrong, and that my office would be arguing as much in short order. Today, my office filed a brief explaining why her order cannot possibly restrain Florida’s law enforcement agencies from enforcing Florida Statutes Sections 811.102 and 811.103. We will continue to argue that position—including on appeal as soon as possible,’ Uthmeier wrote in the memo, obtained by Fox News Digital.

Maybe if more attorneys general pushed back against these rogue judges, more of these judges might understand that they are making rulings far beyond their authority.

  5. “Taliban Earning Billions, Giving American Weaponry to Terrorist Groups as Afghanistan Once Again Becomes Jihadi Hotbed: Report”

    Adam Kredo, May 6, 2025

    Taliban parades U.S. military vehicles August 14, 2024 (@pagahindu/X)

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The Taliban took in $3.4 billion in revenue over the last year, boosting its cash supply by 14 percent amid the return of Afghanistan as a central safe haven for terrorist organizations across the Middle East, according to a U.S. government watchdog group.

The repercussions of the Biden administration’s disastrous 2021 military withdrawal from Afghanistan continue to reverberate across the war-torn country, with multiple al Qaeda affiliates accessing American-supplied “weapons seized from the former Afghan National Army,” according to a new oversight report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR).

The United States left 78 aircraft, 40,000 military vehicles, and over 300,000 weapons in Afghanistan in a withdrawal that saw 13 American service members lose their lives. According to the SIGAR report—which the watchdog group delivered to Congress on April 30—the Taliban transferred many of these arms directly to terrorist affiliates, while others made their way to the black market.

The Pentagon assesses that of around $18.6 billion worth of U.S. equipment provided to the Afghan Army over decades of support, $7.12 billion in weaponry remains in the Taliban’s possession. As a result, “terrorist groups continued to operate in and from Afghanistan amid ongoing U.S., UN, and regional concerns that the country remains a terrorist haven.”

More than two dozen terrorist organizations are currently active in Afghanistan, including the Islamic State-affiliated Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). At least four al Qaeda offshoots are also using the country to organize operations. “Terrorist groups,” SIGAR reported, “continued to use Afghan soil to train and plan attacks and a ‘small but steady’ flow of foreign terrorists continued to travel to Afghanistan and join one of over two dozen terror groups based there.”

The findings come just months after the Trump administration terminated virtually all U.S.-funded assistance programs in Afghanistan, citing the Taliban’s ability to steal millions annually in American taxpayer cash. The Biden-Harris administration pumped nearly $4 billion into Afghanistan after the Taliban retook control of the country, with several million in previously allocated funds continuing to flow up until March 31 of this year. During much of this time, SIGAR repeatedly exposed instances of fraud, waste, and mismanagement that plagued U.S. aid efforts after the Taliban took power.

The White House reversed course earlier this year when it dissolved the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the primary organization pumping taxpayer cash into Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

While the Trump administration initially attempted to preserve emergency food assistance programs inside the country, the State Department ultimately froze them in early April, citing “Taliban interference” in the delivery of humanitarian aid. The agency nixed several other “cash-based assistance” programs around the same time “given concerns about misuse and a lack of appropriate accountability,” State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said.

SIGAR discovered last year that American aid partners on the ground in Afghanistan paid the Taliban at least $10.9 million in various fees.

The State Department terminated funding for all but 2 of the 24 U.S. programs inside Afghanistan, saving American taxpayers more than $1 billion through the end of 2025, according to SIGAR. The two remaining aid initiatives support Afghan students studying online or at universities outside the country.

The billion-dollar list of now-canceled grants runs the gamut from those fostering “integrated youth activity” to others bolstering “civic activists, human rights defenders, and journalists” inside Afghanistan.

The State Department had previously allocated $80 million to Afghan farmers to improve “efficiency” and strengthen “knowledge of smart cultivation and production practices” and another $80 million for “equitable access to quality education for boys and girls,” the SIGAR report shows.

Despite the significant investment in girls’ education from the United States, the Taliban has not softened its stance on the issue, largely barring girls from attending schools and preventing women from working in most jobs.

Other funding initiatives included a $62-million program meant to “empower Afghan youth, particularly girls and young women, by equipping them with market-relevant technical and soft skills, and enhancing economic resilience and food security” and a $14.9-million grant with the purpose of creating “jobs within the carpet-weaving and jewelry industries by providing development assistance to micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises in Afghanistan.”

SIGAR, the central U.S.-Afghanistan oversight authority since 2008, will cease its operations early next year as the Trump administration brings aid to the country to an end.”

  6. “‘Total Backfire’: CNN Mocked for Interviewing Drug Cartel Member Who Claims To ‘Respect’ Trump”

Free Beacon, Matthew Xiao, May 5, 2025

    Sinaloa cartel member (CNN)

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “CNN has drawn a barrage of ridicule for interviewing a drug cartel member who claimed to have “respect” for President Donald Trump, with one social media user saying the left-leaning network was “clearly hoping for a ‘Trump is evil’ soundbite” but instead produced “a total backfire.”

A masked member of the notorious Sinaloa cartel told CNN’s Isobel Yeung in an interview released Friday that Trump has “my respect” and “is looking out for his people” by cracking down on drug cartels. The interview quickly went viral, drawing mockery from social media users who accused CNN of trying to smear the Trump administration and spin sympathy for a violent criminal, the New York Post reported.

“CNN is in full meltdown mode,” one X user wrote. “All their usual smear tactics have failed—again. So what’s their next brilliant move? Interviewing the freaking Sinaloa Cartel. They were clearly hoping for a ‘Trump is evil’ soundbite. Instead? Total backfire.”

Since returning to the White House, Trump has ramped up efforts to rein in drug trafficking and gang violence in the United States. In February, amid Trump’s threats to impose steep tariffs, Mexico agreed to deploy 10,000 troops to its U.S. border to curb the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants.

Mexico “is now dominated entirely by criminal cartels that murder, rape, torture, and exercise total control,” Trump said in March. “They have total control over a whole nation—posing a grave threat to our national security. The cartels are waging war in America, and it’s time for America to wage war on the cartels, which we are doing.”

Social media reactions to CNN’s interview ranged from saying the cartel member’s response is “not the answer” CNN wanted to calling the whole interview “offensive to Americans.”

“Unbelievably,” one X user wrote, “CNN gives Sinaloa cartel member a chance to throw a pity party about being labeled a terrorist, but the cartel member tells them President Trump is just rightly ‘looking after his people.’”

  7. EXCERPT: “The FBI “misled the public” for years in claiming a sniper’s attempt to kill Republican congressmen at a June 2017 baseball practice was “suicide by cop,” when it was in fact domestic terrorism, according to a new congressional report released Tuesday. The 27-page House Intelligence Committee report concludes “the FBI’s bottom line – ‘the FBI does not believe there is a nexus to terrorism’ – was based upon falsehoods, half-truths, and manipulations of the known facts.”

FBI Director Kash Patel announced in April that he had handed over to Congress long-sought bureau records related to the shooting at a ball field in northern Virginia.

The GOP-led Intelligence panel said in the report Tuesday that Patel’s cooperation is “a welcome change from previous FBI leadership, who thwarted Congressional oversight and public accountability at every turn, however, after reviewing the case file, the Committee could not be more disappointed by the FBI’s incomplete investigation and substandard analysis in 2017.”

James Hodgkinson, a left-wing activist from Illinois, shot four people in the June 14, 2017, attack, including Louisiana GOP Rep. Steve Scalise. He reportedly asked GOP congressmen who had left the practice early, and before the attack, whether the players were Republicans or Democrats. He died a day after a 10-minute shootout with police. The members of Congress were practicing for an annual charity game.

The FBI concluded the attack was “suicide by cop” instead of domestic terrorism — a position the bureau did not reverse until 2021, and a position the FBI has never fully explained…..”

We worked together closely on numerous things, including the fact that he helped return Pastor Andrew Brunson, who was imprisoned, back to the United States — Immediately upon my request. In any event, I look forward to working with President Erdoğan on getting the ridiculous, but deadly, War between Russia and Ukraine ended — NOW!”

Erdogan hosted an earlier round of Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul in 2022, though those negotiations failed to secure a lasting peace and the war has raged for more than three years.

His government has faced allegations of democratic backsliding and witnessed large-scale protests in recent years. The Turkish government, moreover, has staged interventions in multiple violent hot spots, including Libya and Syria.”

  9. Just The News: “Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley on Monday promised to continue working to end the possibility of “rogue” judges through Congressional action by pushing to codify a bill that clarifies the role of the judiciary branch.

Republicans have been pushing back recently on the district judges who have blocked the Trump administration from carrying out its agenda through nationwide injunctions, including efforts to deport illegal Venezuelan migrants through the Alien Enemies Act.

Grassley appeared optimistic about passing his legislation and ending the trend, as the Supreme Court prepares to hear a case on May 15, regarding President Donald Trump’s order on birthright citizenship.

“Universal injunctions are an unconstitutional abuse of judicial power,” Grassley told Fox News. “Just this past week, a D.C. district judge issued a universal injunction blocking the president’s executive order requiring voter ID or proof-of-citizenship prior to voting in national elections, [which ignores the idea] judges are not policymakers. Allowing them to assume this role is very dangerous.”

Grassley said that he believes the Supreme Court “could and should” take action in its upcoming case on national injunctions regarding Trump’s order on birthright citizenship.

“In the meantime, I’m continuing to work with my colleagues to advance my critical Judicial Relief Clarification Act (JRCA) and put an end to universal injunctions,” he said.

The senator first weighed in on judicial overreach in March, after Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin called for legislation that would force Trump to comply with all federal rulings. Grassley claimed at the time that it was not feasible to ask a president to get permission from over 600 different judges before doing a job he was elected to do.”

  10. Hmmm….it appears that the XO got watered down – disappointing!

EXCERPT: “President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday updating guidance for researchers and government agencies with the aim of stopping federal funding for foreign research that generates new pandemic-capable viruses, a less sweeping executive order than prior drafts, which were set to implement rules banning gain-of-function research at home and abroad.

The executive order directs several agencies to update guidance for researchers to ban federal funding from flowing to countries including North Korea, Iran, Russia and China for such research on all pathogens, according to the White House. Guidance was due to go into effecting Tuesday, putting a similar restriction on U.S. funding for foreign research, but was superseded by the order. The NIH already announced on May 1 that it would cease all foreign subawards.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported in April that a more sweeping executive order enforceable by law was expected banning gain-of-function research in the U.S. and abroad. The executive order was being drafted and refined by biosecurity expert Gerry Parker, who leads the Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy Director within the National Security Council. Parker had not sought input from many officials within the government, including at the NIH, who have historically staved off meaningful regulation.

By contrast, the executive order charges many different agencies with formulating the new guidance: The Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Health and Human Services and the heads of other relevant executive departments and agencies identified by the director of OSTP.

The White House didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment…..”

  11. Daily Caller News Foundation

“American manufacturers are seeing a surge in demand as President Donald Trump’s tariffs force companies to reconsider doing business in China. Trump’s tariffs, including a 145% levy on Chinese goods, are causing American-made products to be more competitive in the market. As a result, many small and medium manufacturers are experiencing a surge in demand and are preparing to ramp up production and hire new workers.

Jergens Inc., a midwestern toolmaker with less than 500 employees, says it’s “going like gangbusters” trying to keep up with demand, The Wall Street Journal reported. They are seeing an influx of orders from customers trying to avoid import tariffs, along with steady defense-related demand.

“We are running 24 hours a day, seven days a week” said Jergens president Jack Schron, according to the Journal. “We are swamped.”

Grand River Rubber & Plastics, a plastics and rubber manufacturer in Ohio, says customers that once offshored to China are reversing course, the Journal noted. Two buyers who left years ago returned within days of each other and two new oil filter manufacturers have already placed orders. The company’s new business could amount to $5 million annually, roughly 10% of Grand River’s revenue.

The spike in new business reported by many American manufacturers coincides with a sharp decrease in Chinese manufacturing.  When Trump announced the tariffs last month, he predicted American businesses and consumers would both benefit.

“Jobs and factories will come roaring back into our country, and you see it happening already. We will supercharge our domestic industrial base,” Trump has said. “We will pry open foreign markets and break down foreign trade barriers. And ultimately, more production at home will mean stronger competition and lower prices for consumers.”

Even as the president insists prices will fall, economists and politicians warn his tariffs could sharply raise costs for American consumers, CNBC reported. However, executives at SafeSource Direct, a Louisiana-based medical products manufacturer, say prices are likely to decline as domestic production ramps up, according to the Journal.

SafeSource recently increased the number of production lines from two to eight, each making over 20,000 rubber gloves an hour. As new operations become more efficient, they expect costs to decrease significantly.

“We think we can get extremely close to Asian prices,” said Steve Mott, a partner with the company, as reported by the Journal.”

  14. Yeah, no way is this guy the “heir!!!” MAGA isn’t that stupid!

“Trump’s Presidential ‘Heir’ Plunged Into Gay Porn Scandal”

A MAGA favorite to become president after Donald Trump is facing a growing crisis over a gay porn scandal rocking his home state.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin last Friday asked Republican nominee for lieutenant governor John Reid to drop out of the race amid allegations he ran a social media page filled with naked pictures of men.

Reid, who is gay and married, denied that the page was his and refused to resign. He claims that the page was created by hardline Republicans in an effort to sabotage his bid to become lieutenant governor. — Daily Mail

Our Take: Who the hell thinks of Glenn! as an heir to the presidency after Donald Trump? Wtf. Chris Paul

    ***

Another Take: Excuse me? Presidential heir? What exactly has Katelyn Caralle (the author) been smoking to make her hallucinate such an absurd reality?

Nobody actually believes that Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin — the former head of the Carlyle Group, Bush lackey, whose administration did not provide any public support for Donald Trump’s 2024 — is President Trump’s heir-apparent. That’s a silly fantasy that the creeps over at the Lincoln Project cooked up to cope with their collapsing reality.

The headline of this article is obviously the best part. (Very clever, Katelyn.) The actually reported events in the article are pretty par for the course when it comes to the Republican Party: Either the candidate in question (John Reid) is a true populist candidate and a threat to the establishment, and so the GOP decided to destroy him by creating a gay porn page.

Or, the GOP is full of guys who maintain their own gay porn pages. (Looking at you, Lindsey Graham.) — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

GOP Lawmaker Says Constitution ‘Maybe’ Grants Due Process on US Soil

The U.S. Constitution “maybe” requires due process for both citizens and noncitizens, GOP Representative Pete Sessions of Texas said in an interview on CNN Monday.

Why It Matters: His comments echo those of President Donald Trump, who over the weekend said he does not know if due process applies to noncitizens during an interview with NBC News.

His immigration policy and efforts at deporting some migrants accused of committing crimes have faced legal challenges over what many deem a lack of due process. — Newsweek

  16. “Israel Plans to Seize Gaza Under a New Plan, Officials Say”

Israel approved plans Monday to seize the Gaza Strip and to stay in the Palestinian territory for an unspecified amount of time, two Israeli officials said, a move that, if implemented, would vastly expand Israel’s operations there and likely draw fierce international opposition.

The new plan, which was approved in an early morning vote by Israeli Cabinet ministers, also calls for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to move to Gaza’s south. That would likely amount to their forcible displacement and exacerbate an already dire humanitarian crisis. — AP News

Our Take: Honestly, at this point, is anybody surprised by these developments? Conquering Gaza was the entire reason that Netanyahu helped facilitate the October 7th attack in the first place. So it makes sense that they would announce a plan for a hostile takeover, as President Trump is about to visit multiple Arab countries (but not Israel) and is promising a new nuclear deal with Iran.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has instructed Israeli citizens to “embrace Gaza occupation,” adding that nothing will stop the war, not even releasing the hostages. The IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, has warned that launching this operation could possibly mean losing the remaining hostages, but that seems to be a price that Netanyahu’s government is more than ready to pay.

At some point, Americans will have to confront the inconvenient truth regarding the government of Israel, and how our blind support (idolatry) of it has fueled the never-ending conflict. The longer we wait, the more harshly history will judge us. — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

I want to get something that has color in the spring. any suggestions? i want a tree, not a bush, but we’ll get it at the local nursery–so it will be young. don’t care if i have to order it either.

the cherry trees have white blossoms and so do the apple trees, so some other color would be nice. (the winter pear trees won’t blossom for another year or two.)

      1. Here are a few suggestions/sources:

Redbud trees draw the gold finches: “One of the earliest flowering trees to bloom in the spring, the Eastern redbud is an easy-to-grow, small tree native to North America. Its tiny but numerous rosy pink flowers line the branches before heart-shaped leaves appear. While the flowering tree is breathtaking during spring, the Eastern redbud undergoes another magnificent transformation during fall when its leaves transform from verdant green to vibrant yellow.

        Name: Cercis canadensis

Growing Conditions: Full sun to part shade and well-drained soil

        Size: To 30 feet tall

        Zones: 4-9

“One of the best flowering trees for spring color, the dogwood is characterized by its striking horizontal branches that give a graceful appearance year-round. Its eye-catching early-spring blooms can be a snowy white or soft pink. Like the Eastern redbud, dogwood trees transform beautifully during autumn. Its leaves turn reddish-purple in the fall when it also produces small, glossy red fruits.

        Name: Cornus florida

Growing Conditions: Full sun to part shade and well-drained soil

        Size: To 30 feet tall

        Zones: 5-9

        https://www.bhg.com/gardening/trees-shrubs-vines/trees/best-crabapples-for-your-yard/

“Add some rosy color to your landscape with ‘Adams’ flowering crabapple. Small, glossy, red crabapples with blood-red pulp follow its abundant semi-double deep pink blooms. The fruit matures in the fall, persists in the winter, and attracts birds. This tree’s green leaves also have reddish tints in spring, turning orange and red in the fall. In addition, this variety has good resistance to the major diseases that can affect crabapples.

        Form: Broadly rounded

Size: Up to 25 feet tall and wide

        Zones: 4–8

  18. Just The News: “President Donald Trump said Tuesday the U.S. would stop the bombings of the Houthi rebels after the group said it doesn’t want to fight anymore.

“The Houthis have announced that they are not, or they’ve announced to us at least, that they don’t want to fight anymore,” Trump said during a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. “They just don’t want to fight and we will honor that,” Trump continued. “We will stop the bombings and they have capitulated. But more importantly, we will take their word. They say they will not be blowing up ships anymore.”

Houthis rebels in Yemen began disrupting international shipping in the Red Sea after the start of the 2023 war between Israel and Hamas. The Houthis are backed by Iran, which supports the Palestinians, who are led by Hamas, in the war. Last month, U.S. Central Command announced it had “conducted an intense and sustained campaign targeting the Houthi terrorist organization in Yemen.”

Trump argued that the shipping being attacked impacted the economy. “I will accept their word, and we are going to stop the bombing of the Houthis effective immediately,” Trump said.”

      1. Depends on what happens with Iran, who is directing & funding them. I won’t bet against Trump on that one. But Israel may throw a wrench in the works, too. So it’s decidedly iffy!

  19. EXCERPT: “Many states have adopted voter identification to bolster election security. But seven states which claim to check voter ID have loopholes, allowing residents to avoid the requirement by simply filling out paperwork.

In Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Michigan, South Dakota, and Virginia, officials “request” voter ID, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. If someone lacks ID while voting in person, however, they must simply sign forms claiming to be the voter, and officials will let them cast a ballot.

In recent months, noncitizen voting has drawn increasing scrutiny nationwide. The Department of Justice is investigating numerous cases of noncitizen voting, as The Federalist previously reported. In Oregon — which has no ID requirement — officials found more than 1,700 noncitizens on the rolls and registered more than 54,000 of “unknown citizenship.” Hypothetically, in the seven states mentioned above, bad actors could falsely claim others’ identity to vote on their behalf.

  20. EXCERPT: “The federal government is spending millions of taxpayer dollars on red wolf experiments in North Carolina. But according to a nearby landowner, the government has a history of releasing wolves on private land — and then the wolves bred with coyotes and wreaked havoc on local wildlife.

The Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is continuing a plan set forth under former President Joe Biden’s administration to reestablish red wolves in North Carolina and beyond. The plan has an estimated price tag of nearly $328 million.

“We are committed to the strategy outlined in the recovery plan, particularly the focus on collaborative conservation,” an FWS representative told The Federalist.

In December, the Federal Highway Administration awarded $25 million in fiscal year 2024-2025 funds for highway wildlife crossings in North Carolina — because the wolves, after release, keep getting hit by cars.

The red wolf, native to the American South, was declared extinct in 1980. While the federal government has been releasing red wolves since 1987, it paused releases and the fostering of wolf pups from 2015 to 2020. But left-wing conservation groups sued, and FWS resumed the program during Biden’s administration.

The red wolf program had a 50-55 percent mortality rate in 2023. As of February this year, the “total estimate” was 17-19 red wolves in the wild, 16 of which were “known/collared.”

The Federalist asked the White House for comment, questioning whether this plan will continue under President Donald Trump’s administration and whether the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has any plans for the program. Officials did not comment in time for publication.

    A ‘Hybrid Swarm’

Jett Ferebee, a real estate developer, owned 2,000 acres near the Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in Eastern North Carolina. He told The Federalist he used the land to take his children hunting. “They’d always say, Dad, let’s go to the zoo. … It was so much wildlife, it was unreal,” Ferebee said. But in 2008, he wrote the Department of Interior, explaining red wolves were intruding on his property.

“All of a sudden, my dream of having land for my family to enjoy would not be of use because the government had basically overrun it with a wolf program,” Ferebee told The Federalist.

Over the coming years, Ferebee would embark on years of research and advocacy for private landowners. He eventually obtained documents by public records request, which he shared with The Federalist, showing that the federal government had been releasing wolves on private property from 1990 until at least 2013. In an email Ferbee provided to The Federalist, an FWS official explained that the agency did not have legal authority to do this….”

It’s relatively cool in my garage, tho, where I will spray paint the t-posts. I want to get that done today at least. Later, when the sun moves further to the west, the area I need to clear for the trellis and red clematis will be in the shade. I might get that done today….or not. I do need to get the a/c unit cleaned up and ready, tho – with predicted temp up to 88, I’ll be needing it soon.

  22. SMH – as I’ve said before: invite savages into your country and you get savagery!!! And it’s not just Muslims, altho they are probably the worst offenders.

EXCERPT: “Spain has seen an alarming rise in sexual violence over recent years, culminating in a record-high number of rapes, which reached 5,206 incidents in 2024, according to new official statistics from the Ministry of the Interior.

With an average of 14 rapes per day across the country, the figure nearly triples the 1,878 cases reported in 2019 when five daily incidents were reported. The upward trend has remained consistent year-over-year since 2018, aside from a brief dip during 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Regional breakdowns show that communities like Catalonia, Madrid, and Andalusia report the highest numbers, although increases have been noted throughout all regions of Spain. Cases involving minors, nightlife-related assaults, and attacks perpetrated by groups of offenders are also on the rise. The grim reality presented by these numbers translates to a woman being raped every hour and 45 minutes in Spain.

Remix News reported in November last year on a La Rázon report that revealed 91 percent of those convicted of rape in Catalonia are foreigners, with immigrants comprising just 17 percent of the region’s total population.

When it comes to sexual assault and rape combined, 64.2 percent of inmates are foreign nationals…..”

“…Police unions, however, have cited multiple factors contributing to this trend, including what they describe as “influence from cultures that undervalue women,” deteriorating societal values, and growing youth gang violence. The unions called for preventive measures, such as education on consent and bolstering police resources to cope with the epidemic….”

  23. Oh, Germany….smh.

EXCERPT: “Left-wing activist Ayesha Khan received German citizenship at a ceremony at St. Paul’s Church in Frankfurt, alongside nearly 800 others.

Known for her controversial statements about Germans, Khan has some 15,400 followers on X (@migrantifa) and hosts the podcast “[un]deutsch” together with Dîlan Karacadag. Their project claims to addresses social and political issues from a migration perspective, openly distancing itself from traditional German identity, writes Polish portal Tysol.pl.

Khan has reportedly published explicitly anti-German content online on numerous occasions. According to Nius.de, her posts on the X platform include: “Do you know these words: ‘If God exists, why is there war?’ I ask, if God exists, why is there Germany?”

Despite such antagonistic statements, she appears eager to live in Germany and obtain citizenship. Other of her posts include “Luckily Frankfurt will soon be completely de-Germanized,” “Germany is trash,” and “It’s embarrassing who is NOT anti-German.” In another, she promised, “If I have a German passport, I will finish you all off.” In one brazenly aggressive statement against Whites, she posted, “Being white IS a flaw,” adding “YES.”

In short, her statements veer into open anti-White and anti-German hatred. Khan’s anti-German stance and hatred for Whites should not surprise. Her handle “migrantifa” combines the terms “migrant” and “antifa,” suggesting a left-wing, anti-fascist identity in opposition to the German majority.

Khan has never apologized for her statements, despite many asking for an explanation…..”

  26. American Wire: “President Donald Trump called out former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a Meet The Press interview segment that never made it to air, and it isn’t hard to see why some people would want to keep it hidden.

The president wasn’t shy about calling Pelosi to the carpet for her stock trading habits, which he says make her a “stone-cold crook.”

“If I own stock in something and I do a good job, and the stock market goes up, I guess I’m profiting,” Trump said. “But who really profits is somebody like Nancy Pelosi, who uses inside information. She worked for $175,000 a year, and that’s at the high end. And she’s worth $150, $200 million? Okay? You ought to look at Nancy Pelosi, and you ought to look at some of these politicians that are stone-cold crooks.”

“I was very wealthy when I came in. Being president probably cost me money if you really look,” he added.

But the Democrats aren’t ready for that conversation.”

“‘Add-On’ Drugs Raise Questions About Safety and Cost”

    Sharyl Attkisson, May 06, 2025

    • Add-on drugs or “adjunctive therapies” offer new options for people who aren’t getting good results with a medicine
    • But add-ons introduce additional risks
    • And they dramatically add to medical costs
    • They also pose ethical dilemmas
    • Read list of use of adjunctive therapies in ten medical fields

EXCERPT: “If you watch television or Internet programming, you may have noticed that the trend of “add-on” drugs seems to be growing.

Add-on drugs are added onto existing treatments that aren’t working well. For example, when asthma patients aren’t getting good results with their inhalers for severe attacks, Tezspire by AstraZeneca may be recommended as an add-on. When cholesterol-lowering statins aren’t doing the job, Repatha by Amgen may be added on.

The financial stakes are high. Add-ons are heavily promoted by drugmakers, and experts are calling for more scrutiny to ensure patient care remains the priority over industry profits.

    Read on for details…..”

US Taxpayers subsidize Coca Cola $10 BILLION dollars every year

Congress has been cleverly hiding the funding in the annual “Farm bill”

“Congress subsidizes Coca Cola to the tune of about $10,000,000,000 of taxpayer money every single year — We have this scam, otherwise known as the farm bill, which really should be known as the food stamp and big corporation bill passed by congress.

The last one that we passed, the total amount was $428,000,000,000 with a b dollars and $328 billion of that $428 billion went directly to food stamp recipients to SNAP.

    — The government loads $328 billion of your tax care money on the EBT cards for SNAP recipients, and they go into the stores and they buy Coca Cola products, Frito Lay products, Pepsi products.

This $10,000,000,000 is just to Coca Cola every year. Coca Cola gets between 5-20% of their annual revenue from the taxpayer dime. Ding ding ding. That right there is government waste. We could cut because if your products are so great and healthy for everybody.

Why don’t you stand on your own two feet, Coca Cola? Why don’t you just operate without taxpayer money if you’re so great? And the cherry on top is how our legislators have figured out they can play this little game and go back to their home voters and tell them how evil the farmers and ranchers are because of the farm bill and the subsidies. Meanwhile, 3/4 of it doesn’t even go to the farmers, and it goes to all their buddies in big corporations.

That’s what your government has done. Congress, men, and women come back home and have the audacity to lie to the American people about what they have done to the American people’s food supply.“

  33. It has gotten soooo much worse since I lived in Loudoun county!!!

EXCERPT: “When you see the words “Loudoun County Public Schools” in the news, you know your blood pressure is about to skyrocket. Such is the case with a new report out of Loudoun County (“LoCo” to locals, for obvious reasons) about three high school boys who are facing a Title IX investigation for complaining after a girl who thinks she’s a boy used the boys’ locker room and allegedly took a video.

It’s understandable if you had to re-read the previous sentence; as with most things related to Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), the situation makes no sense at all to those with a shred of sanity. Yes, the boys who felt uncomfortable when a biological female used their locker room are the ones facing disciplinary action, not the girl who took a video while cosplaying as a boy. And now the boys are being accused of sexual harassment under Title IX.

The whole thing unfolded at Stone Bridge High School, which is located in Ashburn, Virginia. Stone Bridge High School previously made headlines back in 2021 after a male student sexually assaulted a female classmate in a school bathroom; it soon emerged that the same teen had assaulted another girl at his previous LCPS school (he wore a skirt to school that day and was allowed to used the girls bathroom where the first assault took place), and the school system happily relocated him to Stone Bridge without alerting parents to the fact that a sexual predator was in class alongside their children.

This started a parent-led revolt, already percolating due to Critical Race Theory being pushed on students and draconian COVID lockdowns being in place, that led to Republican Glenn Youngkin unlikely being elected governor in November of 2021. Unfortunately, not much has changed with LCPS in the intervening years, and student safety is still not being prioritized.

The father of one of the Stone Bridge High School boys currently being accused of sexual harassment under Title IX explained what happened from his son’s point of view:

“He was questioning why there was a female in the males’ locker room,” the father said.

“And other boys were uncomfortable [with a female in the boys’ locker room],” he added. “There were other boys asking the same question. They [LCPS] created a very uncomfortable situation. They’re young, they’re 15 years old. They’re expressing their opinions, and now they’re being targeted for expressing those opinions.”

The girl apparently began using the boys’ locker room back in March, and, after gym class one day, used her phone to take a video of the boy and his friends. The boys reportedly did not confront the girl, but did complain to their “peer group” that they were uncomfortable with her presence in their space. And while the girl’s actions are against the school system’s own policy on the use of phones while in school, it’s the boys who are facing serious consequences….”

  34. “Horrific: Convicted Child Rapist Who Fled Justice in Brazil Found Living Illegally in MA Home Daycare”

By Teri Christoph, 3:51 PM on May 06, 2025

Jordan Kartholl /Journal & Courier via AP, File

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The owner of a Cape Cod, Massachusetts home daycare center has closed her business after she was outed for harboring an illegal immigrant—he also happens to be baby daddy to her two children—who was convicted in Brazil for the rape of a 13-year-old girl. Instead of facing justice in his homeland, the child rapist illegally crossed the border into the United States and holed up in the home that housed the daycare center where, presumably, he came into regular contact with the children enrolled in the daycare program.

Local media has identified the daycare owner as Franciele Nunes. Nunes found herself on the media’s radar last October when the illegal, Andre Tiago Lucas, was picked up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston after eluding justice for his heinous crime. Lucas was convicted in 2016 of the “rape of a vulnerable person” and was handed a sentence of nine years and four months; after fleeing his homeland, Tiago Lucas ended up in Massachusetts and shacked up with Franciele Nunes.

Here’s what ICE had to say about Ms. Nunes’ love interest at the time of his arrest:

“This Brazilian fugitive has been convicted of a heinous crime in his native country. Rather than face the consequences for his actions, he chose to flee, falsely believing he could evade justice in Massachusetts,” said acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde of ERO Boston. “ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing egregious noncitizen offenders.”

The kicker here is that the state daycare licensing agency, the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), had inspected Nunes’ daycare center five times and failed to discover Tiago Lucas’s presence in the home. And Ms. Nunes clearly chose not to alert authorities to the fact that a child predator was in her house and likely had unfettered access to the children in her care.

The EEC does mandate background checks for anyone living in or regularly visiting a residence used as a home daycare, but even if they had been made aware of Tiago Lewis’s presence, they never would have found out about his criminal past because their system does not have access to the criminal records of other countries. Oh, and immigration status isn’t considered during these background checks.

Local law enforcement was gobsmacked at the discovery:

“The idea that someone has been documented, that a Brazilian national fled the country because they were convicted for rape of a 13-year-old and could come to Massachusetts and not only disappear into the fabric of Massachusetts, but actually be living in a home that was a daycare center for young people. That’s terrifying,” Sheriff [Lew] Evangelidis told 25 Investigates.

It is unclear if ICE has sent this cretin back to his homeland to face justice yet, but the residents of Cape Cod should breathe a sigh of relief that he was apprehended and Franciele Nunes was put out of business.”
