New York State Mammal: Beaver

Beavers are the official mammal of New York State, and occur almost anywhere there is moving water and trees on the shoreline. They are also the largest rodent on the continent of North America.

Adult beavers average a length of 3-3.5 feet and a weight of 30-60 pounds. They are most easily identified by their broad, flat tails that help them swim, fell trees, and signal danger, among other functions. The lifespan of most beavers is less than 10 years, but some individuals far surpass that, and can even reach age 20.

The preferred foods of beavers are plant materials, including aquatic vegetation, and twigs and bark from trees. Their favorite species of trees to consume are poplar, aspen, birch, willow, and maple, and beavers make sure they stock up on these in the fall, so they’ll be set through the winter. To make it through the colder months, a beaver family may require a one- to two-ton food cache.

Beaver Dams and Lodges

Aside from their flat, paddle-like tails, beavers are most well-known for the large dams they build in running bodies of water. While most of these dams average about 100-200 feet in length and 5-7 feet in height, some have measured as long as 2,000 feet and as high as 10 feet from the bottom of the stream.

To build these remarkable structures, beavers use their sharp front teeth to fell trees, which they drag into the water. They anchor the wood with mud and rocks, and pack mud, leaves, and other debris in between logs to hold back the water. Beavers build dams to stop the water from running, so a pocket of deep water is created. They choose to build their lodges in these areas of deep water, so they can dive down and be safe from predators.

Beaver lodges are typically 12-14 feet wide at the base, with 5 to 6 feet protruding above the water. Like dams, lodges are built from logs, sticks, rocks, and mud, and typically feature two underwater tunnel entrances. Beavers also build separate feeding and bedding areas. In the winter, lodges may hold the adult male and female, their young from the most recent breeding season and the one before that, and occasionally related non-breeding adults. As many as 12 individuals could lodge together.

Beavers in the Adirondacks

Beavers were abundant before European settlement, and could be found all over New York State, with the exception of Long Island. Unfortunately, the popular New World beaver pelt trade and deforestation resulted in only a few beavers being left in the Adirondacks by 1840.

Between 1901 and 1907, 34 adult beavers were released into the region by private landowners and legislators who wanted to help the species’ numbers increase. By 1924, the population had grown so significantly that a regulated trapping season was instituted to control nuisance and damage.

The Department of Environmental Conservation estimates that the current beaver population in the Adirondacks is between 50,000-70,000. Over time, it has been found that the regulated trapping has been the most effective means of reducing the negative impact of beavers on other species. While they are an important part of the ecosystem, beavers can unfortunately flood property, cut down rare trees, and can lead to water temperature increases that make bodies of water uninhabitable for other species, like trout.

Beaver Fun Facts

    1. Morning kea!

how is everyone? is your mom okay?

about a mile up our dirt road, there’s another pond (bigger than ours or our neighbor’s) and you can see the dams the beavers build. every so often, the township will burst the dam and release the water so it doesn’t overflow onto the road.

we’ve only ever seen a dead one on the road once though. never in the pond.

  1. so probably not a “white guy” as they reported.

The suspect who was arrested Saturday in the theft of Secretary Kristi Noem’s purse is in the country illegally, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia said in an interview with NBC News.

Ed Martin said a second suspect who also is in the country illegally is being sought by law enforcement.

It is not believed the suspect targeted Noem because she was the Department of Homeland Security secretary, Martin said.

“There is no indication it was because of that. It was frankly, it was a nice looking purse,” Martin said, in a recorded telephone interview.

In the call, Martin said Immigration and Customs Enforcement is now involved.

“President Trump’s direction to us is we charge these folks that are here illegally and we prosecute them, as well as deport them when need be, you know, as soon as that can happen,” Martin said, adding, “What I can tell you is he won’t be back on the streets in America.”

The person who took the bag knew what he was doing, Martin said.

“This was not an amateur. This was a person, a thief, that knew how to do this. You could see how he scouted the room out.”

    1. Good morning, Pat! You know me – I just dive right in and ignore the pleasantries. Still rainy and cold – ok, it’s 53 but that’s still cold to me – but, thankfully, the wind has died down a bit altho not enough to put the feeders back out. Wheezer was waiting for breakfast.

Now about Noem……A debacle going on in SD right now and Noem’s fingers are deep in this pie!!! DO NOT TRUST HER! Oh, and BTW – who in their right mind carries $3K in cash in their purse when going out to eat in DC? She is a rich bitch, IMO, trying to cover all her bases!

My Sis brought this to my attention with the FB post below and it reminded me of something from a few years ago involving Noem and this carbon capture BS, which I believe is tangential to this current debacle. IIRC, I posted about it at the time. They need to get Doug Burgum involved! He is Secretary of the Interior now and can fix this! I told my Sis to comment on the FB post about that.

  5. EXCERPT: “Lawmakers in both chambers of the General Assembly want to launch a Pennsylvania Department of Government Efficiency – or PA DOGE – that would be tasked with rooting out government waste and improving fiscal accountability across state agencies.

Earlier this year, Rep. Stephenie Scialabba, R-Cranberry Twp., announced plans to introduce legislation requiring the Auditor General to conduct efficiency audits of major Commonwealth spending programs.

In a memo seeking co-sponsors, Scialabba stated that the federal government continues to make efficiency gains, and “it’s past time for Pennsylvania to turn our own focus to state government bloat and waste.”

A more comprehensive bill being crafted by Sen. Doug Mastriano, R-Chambersburg, would establish both a PA DOGE and a bipartisan oversight committee to which it would report.

According to Mastriano’s co-sponsorship memo, the committee would consist of one House and Senate member from each party, a leadership member from both chambers, and representatives from the Treasury and Auditor General’s Offices. In addition, two “everyday citizens” would serve on the committee to provide additional insight, ensuring community representation in fiscal decisions.

The proposed department would have broad auditing authority. It would also have the ability to temporarily suspend payments pending committee review and recommend eliminating departments or agencies it deems wasteful.

Upon final vote, any payments deemed unnecessary will be suspended immediately, and any “unspent” funds returned to the General Fund – “reinforcing our commitment to accountability and responsible governance,” the memo states.

The department would be “answerable and reportable to the legislature ensuring that elected representatives – who control the purse strings – maintain oversight over government spending.”…..

    Apr 27, 2025

The following information is based on a report originally published by A Midwestern Doctor. Key details have been streamlined and editorialized for clarity and impact. Read the original report here.

EXCERPT: “The first FDA chief tried to protect Americans from deadly additives. He was forced, and Big Industry has been poisoning us ever since. Today, the corruption runs even deeper, and you’ll be furious when you see how they rigged the system with fake “safety” loopholes.

Let’s start at the beginning. Harvey Wiley, the first FDA chief, proved that additives like formaldehyde, borax, and copper sulfate were harming Americans. The food industry panicked. So they hijacked the government and, in 1912, they forced Wiley out—along with all of his concerns.

Wiley later wrote a book about it called The History of A Crime Against the Food Law, where he exposed exactly what happened. He warned that “the government would not protect the people” and said only “an outraged public” could defeat Big Food and Big Pharma.

Wiley’s warning was clear. The government won’t save you. Because every time lawmakers tried to regulate dangerous products, industry lobbyists crushed the effort.

Every time. And that’s still happening today. More than 100 years later…..”

  8. “NYT Wants You To Feel Very Sorry For This Drug-Dealing Kidnapper Trump Deported — He made bad choices and is owed no sympathy. He owes the U.S. thanks for the opportunities he was given even after conviction.”

The Federalist, By: Beth Brelje, April 25, 2025

ENTIRE ARTICLE: The New York Times has a new description for Nascimento Blair, a convicted drug dealer, kidnapper, and illegal alien; he is a “Jamaican transplant.” At least, they say, he was until he was sent back to Jamaica in February. The NYT never calls him what he was, an illegal alien.

Blair had been in the United States after coming on a nonimmigrant work visa in March 2004. He was here 21 years— so long that he has developed a “slightly Americanized accent,” and Jamaica does not feel like home anymore, according to New York Times Writer Luis Ferré-Sadurní and photographer Todd Heisler, who traveled to Kingston, Jamaica, to interview Blair.

    Image CreditICE

The New York Times wants you to feel badly for Blair, and others like him — people in the U.S. illegally with a criminal history who are being sent back to their home country.

“It was his criminal past that had gotten him deported from the United States, where he had been rebuilding his life and seeking redemption,” their piece says. “He had earned two college degrees, started a trucking business, mentored people released from prison, cared for a fiancée with breast cancer, taken classes at Columbia University.”

Put another way, it was his illegal marijuana sales operation, and a 2006 conviction for kidnapping a teenager who allegedly stole marijuana from him in a case where Blair was accused of tying up the teen in an apartment, pistol whipping him, and seeking a $5,000 ransom from the victim’s family,  and the resulting 2006 deportation order, that got him deported.

    Also, he writes poetry.

In a tumultuous 2006 trial, Blair was found guilty of the kidnapping charge, but before deportation, he was to sentenced to 15 years in prison. According to the NYT piece, Blair assumed ICE would pick him up and deport him when he was released in 2020. It is unclear why that didn’t happen, but New York is a sanctuary state which has been uncooperative with ICE, and it was during the COVID outbreak, when travel was limited.

Blair was sent back to Jamaica in February 2025 as ICE actively removes people who should have already left.

“Nascimento Blair is an illegal alien, convicted kidnapper, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. In 2008 he was issued a final order of removal,” Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin told The Federalist in a text. “Because of the previous administration’s open border policies, this criminal, illegal alien, was released into the streets of New York. Thanks to President Trump and Secretary [Kristi] Noem, this kidnapper was arrested and is now out of our country. He was arrested on Feb. 3, 2025 and deported on Feb. 27, 2025. President Trump and Secretary Noem have made it clear that we are prioritizing arresting and deporting the worst of the worst. That includes convicted kidnappers. We are restoring common sense to our immigration system. Why does the New York Times continue to pedal sob stories about criminal, illegal aliens and ignore their victims?”

The NYT piece makes it clear Blair knew he didn’t belong in the U.S., “The deportation order loomed over Mr. Blair as he rebuilt his life after prison.” But it was easy to stay after former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order in 2017 designating New York a sanctuary state.

The United States, including prison, has been very good to Blair. While in prison, he had the time and means to earn a bachelor’s degree from Mercy University and a master’s degree in leadership from the New York Theological Seminary, according to the NYT. He also married a Jamaican woman, fathered a child, and divorced, all while in prison.

He even made the news a few times complaining to the Associated Press in 2020 about prison conditions in the midst of COVID. “It’s like we are expendable,” Blair said in that Associated Press interview, concerned that prisoners did not know who tested positive for COVID. “The last thing you want is to be around someone and not know that that person has it, because that’s a potential catastrophe.”

After he was released, instead of following the deportation order, Blair was asked to join other ex-convicts as a fellow at Columbia University’s Center for Justice. This connection may be where he found his free attorney, Bernard Harcourt, a Columbia law professor and a criminal defense lawyer who handled his deportation case.

But now Blair is living in his sister’s spare room in Jamaica, and the roof leaks. “Jamaicans deported to the island, many of whom have criminal backgrounds, have long had to grapple with social stigma that stems from a widely held perception that deportees are unemployable, dangerous and destined to fuel crime,” the NYT piece says.

Blair knows he should have left the U.S. long ago. He is in Jamaica now because he made bad choices earlier in his life and often, like a firecracker that explodes in a bare hand, leaving permanent injury, bad choices follow us through life. Trump’s policies didn’t send him home, Blair did, when he kidnapped that kid and sold pounds of weed in the U.S., breaking the rules of the work visa that allowed him into our beautiful country.

He chose not to be immediately accountable by self-deporting. But life has a way of catching up with you. A man who earned (probably free) college degrees, found a love for poetry, and while behind bars came to understand his potential is unlimited, can certainly find his way in Jamaica.”

  10. “After Cries of ‘Racism,’ Shedeur Sanders Finally Gets Drafted, and Then His Dad’s Old Tweets Surfaced”

Red State, By Bonchie  | 7:02 PM on April 26, 2025

    AP Photo/Mary Altaffer, File

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The crisis of our time has been somewhat averted with Shedeur Sanders, the son of Deion Sanders, finally getting selected by the Browns in the fifth round of the NFL draft. And if you don’t know anything about football and are reaching for that back key, like all things, this has inevitably become political, so there’ll be something for you as well.

To offer a quick recap of how we got here, Shedeur Sanders was projected by many media personalities to go in the first round, with ESPN’s Mel Kiper having him rated as his top quarterback. The situation was always a lot more complicated than statistics and projections, though. Shedeur Sanders had become infamous for his arrogance and entitlement, taking to calling himself a “legend” after barely posting a .500 record at Colorado University.

The school even recently retired his number at the behest of his father, who is the coach (and Hall of Fame NFL player) of the aforementioned Buffaloes. For the draft, an entire custom green room was built, with the anticipation that he would go very early. There were also a series of on-the-field incidents arguably demonstrating bad sportsmanship and a lack of leadership.

In other words, Shedeur Sanders came across as a spoiled brat, flaunting his wealth and privilege, and that continued into the draft process. There were reports of him being ill-prepared for meetings at the combine (which is essentially a pre-draft workout) and even sandbagging to try to ensure he didn’t go to certain teams. At one point, Shedeur Sanders told teams, “Don’t get me if you ain’t trying to change the franchise or the coach.” Again, the sense of over-inflated worth and authority no doubt worried NFL teams, especially given that his ceiling as a prospect was actually not that high, relatively speaking.

Of course, as he began to tumble in the draft, some cried racism.

Given that over 80 percent of the players drafted before Sanders were black, including the first overall pick, I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that racism wasn’t a factor here. Instead, it seems pretty clear that Shedeur Sanders’ limited athleticism and the circus-like atmosphere surrounding him were the reason he fell.

Teams will take on just about anything if the talent level is there. They are much less likely to take a risk on what they see as a marginal prospect, though, and while the press was enamored with Shedeur Sanders, it was consistently reported that NFL teams were not based on their evaluations.

With all that said, the Cleveland Browns finally selected Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round on Saturday, and one of Deion Sanders’ old tweets was immediately dug up.

Given that the Browns were picking second overall on Friday night, I’d say their situation is probably worse than it was at the time of that post. So certainly, there’s a bit of irony in Shedeur Sanders’ father saying any quarterback should “pull an Eli Manning” if picked by the “Factory of Sadness” (sorry, Browns fans).

What makes this funnier, though, is that Deion Sanders suggested earlier in the draft process that his son wouldn’t play for certain teams. So yeah, the fact that all 32 ended up passing on him repeatedly is just a bit poetic.

Look, I’m not here to endlessly dunk on the guy, but there’s a lesson here. NFL teams are professional organizations. They don’t care what ESPN says or how much Stephen A. Smith rants and raves. Shedeur Sanders thought he was bigger than the process, and he paid the price. Perhaps this will humble him and help him have a good career. We’ll see.”

“The Signal Setter: Architect of the American Awakening”

    Burning Bright, Apr 27, 2025

EXCERPT: “When it comes to a man some of us refer to quite literally as ‘The Master’ given his uncanny ability to control the battlespace—whether you’re talking about business, politics or even time itself, which we’ll get to—a simple question has been rattling around in the soft matter of my brain as I’ve started and stopped putting mental pen to digital paper over the course of the last month while searching for the best angle of Macro attack:

When will they learn? When I first wrote that question down—rhetorical as it was—I had a pretty clear image in mind as to the subject. The Deep State. The Globalists. The bracketed and targeted [they] that is as ubiquitous and recognizable a mode or comm to this audience as it is strange and foreign to most other layers of the Collective Mind.

And yet, as I marinated on what this piece would become—much like you, dear reader, I still don’t know, but I’m excited to find out—the definition of the term shifted, not so much narrowing as expanding.

‘When will they learn?’ then, doesn’t have to refer to the once-shadowed and increasingly revealed System of Systems I have spent the last three years documenting and cognitively, perhaps spiritually hunting alone, but can also be expanded to include most of the aforementioned layers of the Collective Mind that IS the multi-levelled and many-fronted battlespace both sides on the game theory game board are vying to alternatively control or free in this great Shadow War that doubles as an Info War, a Mind War and, as is my primary focus around these parts, a War of Stories.

Some of those layers, disappointingly or not, sit quite close to this one—the one we might consider ourselves a part of, and which we might refer to as some mix of anons, Info Warriors or awakened, awakening nodes in the new matrix that hopes to build the new world, much like the old one they took from us, albeit with new window dressing.

Why the aside on Trump’s rhetoric and its net effects to kick off this piece, then?

Because, whether you’re talking about the heirs of the Deep State’s System of Systems or the carrion crows in the collapsing media protectorate that once lifted them and defended them but is now abandoning them in droves, or whether you’re talking about Con Inc. charlatans my peers and I have been attempting to carve not from the darkness, but from the light ever since they showed you who they really were in November 2022 … or, even if you’re discussing the earnest, well-meaning and yet, hopelessly arrogant ‘analyst’ class in the new MAGA-adjacent sphere of self-described financial, cultural and political gurus I am unfortunately lumped in with at times … what I truly believe separates those who see the game from those who are only following its leavings is the foundational belief—no, the observational certainty—that Donald Trump actually knows what he’s doing.

And there’s nothing naive about that, even if faith brought a lot of people reading this publication most of the way to believing that fact when they were first introduced to the modern incarnation of Trump before that belief was codified, calcified and made bedrock real through thousands of hours of observation of the man and the movement, the war and the games within it.

And so, to set the tone for the coming pieces on Signals and Signal Setters in the current persuasion of the Info War, I think it’s worth the reminder that considering Donald Trump one of them—a Cypher unto himself, both redirecting and emitting Signal in a sea of engineered and obfuscating noise—has not just been the most rewarding position to adopt from a psychological and even emotional standpoint … but it just so happens to make you right a hell of a lot more often than wrong…..”

    1. COLORADO SPRINGS — More than 300 law enforcement officers, both federal and local, are assisting Rocky Mountain Drug Enforcement Agency Operation Sunday morning in Colorado Springs.

According to the DEA, over 100 people in the country illegally have been detained at what they say is an underground nightclub in Colorado Springs. ICE responded to the scene to take those individuals into custody.

Drugs and weapons have been seized from what appears to be a strip mall behind the Conoco on Academy Boulevard.

The DEA says that in the nightclub, they found pink cocaine, evidence of prostitution, and multiple firearms. The DEA estimates there were around 200 people inside the nightclub at the time of the raid, including more than a dozen U.S. active-duty service members. Special Agent in Charge, Jonathan Pullen, with DEA Rocky Mountain Field Division says those service members were either patrons or working as armed security guards at the underground nightclub. Pullen also says that Army Criminal Investigation Division is working with DEA.

According to our crew on the scene, Airport Road was blocked eastbound at the South Academy intersection. Many different police cruisers, white vans, and armored vehicles can be seen.

EPSO is currently assisting our federal partners at the DEA. Media inquiries will be addressed by the DEA PIO on scene. https://t.co/BBWEVM43XJ
      — EPCSheriff (@EPCSheriff) April 27, 2025

Our crews at the scene were able to acquire video that shows a significant number of people detained and being questioned by police.

Sunday’s operation is the latest in the DEA’s Colorado crackdown this year.

As the agency conducted four Denver-area operations on Jan. 29, special agent in charge David Olesky said an uptick in enforcement is due to a “renewed sense of purpose” at the agency under the Trump administration.

“We’re getting absolutely all the resources that we need not only at the federal level but at the local level as well,” he said at the time. “And when it comes to immigration, that is just one of the tools in the toolbox that we’re going to be able to use to remove those violent criminals and drug traffickers from the communities.”

Derek Maltz, who stepped into the role of acting administrator of the DEA shortly after President Trump’s inauguration, told Scripps News Investigates that Colorado is “ground zero” for violent criminals in the U.S. and that the state is home to the “command and control” of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

He said he believes criminals have taken advantage of vulnerabilities and weaknesses in the state, and that the border policies of recent years have been too open and allowed for too many people to cross the U.S. border unaccounted for.

  12. Oh, wow….I just went on-line w/my bank to check into paying bills via their website since my VZW on-line account got f’ed up and now doesn’t “recognize” me. It is my only regular monthly bill that I can’t pay on-line – I have most utilities set-up with auto-payment. I’m not even going to try VZW phone customer support – I already know that’s useless. I’ve been paying by mailing them a check, then I have to worry that it will arrive before the due date. So from now on, I will pay it via my bank instead of depending on the mail. In any case…..I had to go inside the bank last month because the ATM wasn’t working – bear in mind, this is the only ATM I have found that I can use in this area w/o paying an extra $5-6 fee. That occurrence spurred a phone call from the bank Manager – that’s a first! And she was very patient and friendly, sounding truly interested in what I was saying. She verified that, unfortunately, there are no other free ATM’s in my area.

We had a long talk and I decided to use the opportunity to get some info about a possible small loan for the furnace and other needed repairs on my house, like taking down my cottonwood tree, getting my water softener up and running, etc. We agreed since I don’t carry homeowners’ insurance I couldn’t get a home improvement loan w/the house as collateral. But that’s something I can’t afford either – she told me her family’s bill was $2K/annual and it just doubled so she understood. She mentioned possibly raising the top amount on my CC and had me check my credit rating – it was in the “good” range, so she said she would see what else was possible. She also thought I could qualify for a small personal loan that would cover it.

I check my balances frequently and since that phone call, I have had 2 increases in my CC limit! She actually followed thru!!! Amazing!

    1. A similar subject I wonder about is the issue of the admin denying Federal aid to Arkansas for tornado damage to so many peoples’ homes….haven’t seen any follow-on about that but I haven’t looked recently either.

  13. “Multiple artists and producers involved in the center’s Tapestry of Pride schedule, which had been planned for June 5 to 8, told The Associated Press that their events had been quietly canceled or moved to other venues. And in the wake of the cancellations, Washington’s Capital Pride Alliance has disassociated itself from the Kennedy Center.

AI is a wonderful, scary thing. I asked it what that letter soup meant and it gave me back this:

LGBTQQIAAP2S+ is an acronym used to encompass a broad range of sexual orientations and gender identities within the LGBTQ+ community, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, pansexual, and two-spirited individuals, among others. The “2S” refers to Two-Spirited, a term used by some Indigenous communities in North America to describe individuals who embody both male and female spirits.

The “+” signifies an ongoing evolution and inclusivity of the term to represent the full spectrum of gender and sexual identities.

Does that mean they’ll just keeps adding shit they make up until they run out of letters? Good God, these people are something beyond crazy. I woulda said nuts, but, well, you know…”

  14. “Sticking to the Vatican’s tradition of electing a new pope, cardinals from around the world will gather in the conclave to determine who will become the next Pope in the next 15-20 days.

As such, bookmakers have had their say on who that person will be by releasing their Next Pope Odds. Currently, the betting favorite is Cardinal Pietro Parolin at odds of +200. These are the remaining candidates who could ascend to the most powerful position in the Roman Catholic Church and guide the 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide through what critics call a “very challenging spiritual future.”

  15. “The election of a new Pope will hopefully bring some attention to where the Cardinals will be voting – in the Sistine Chapel. I went through it on a tour of the Vatican a number of years back and I will admit that it was the most awe-inspiring, no-bullshit absolutely breath-taking thing I have ever experienced. Oh – and don’t think they don’t exist because the do – I got a Pop opener in the gift shop…”

  17. illegal chinese immigration to work in a chinese owned factory in Ohio.

    article

📍 Where & When: The factories are located in the Dayton area of Ohio. The investigation began in December 2019 after law enforcement learned about the alleged activities. The asset seizures related to the money laundering investigation were announced in April 2025.

💬 Key Quote: “We will continue to investigate allegations of unfair labor practices,” said Jared Murphey, ICE HSI Detroit acting Special Agent in Charge.

⚠️ Impact: The investigation has uncovered a network of entities allegedly employing individuals who entered the U.S. illegally. The focus is on accountability for employers and the workforce, and comes amidst heightened economic tensions between the United States and China over the latter’s unfair trade practices aimed at harming American domestic industries.IN FULL:

Federal authorities have seized $126 million in assets amid an investigation into a Chinese-owned factory complex in Ohio accused of importing workers from China illegally. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio is scrutinizing allegations that workers were smuggled into the country through Mexico to work at factories in the Dayton area.

The investigation indicates that the affected workers, primarily of Chinese and Hispanic origin, were housed in accommodation owned by their employers and transported to work by them. According to authorities, roughly 40 entities were established to facilitate the employment of these individuals who entered and stayed in the United States unlawfully or worked without necessary permits.

Fuyao Glass America—a prominent Chinese manufacturer named in the case—emerged in the spotlight due to its feature in the 2019 Netflix documentary American Factory, acquired by Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground Productions. The company, owned by Chinese industrialist Cao Dewang, employs a significant workforce on American soil, including a portion comprising Chinese immigrants.

The probe initially began in December 2019 upon the discovery of a collaboration among multiple business owners from China who moved to Ohio. They formed numerous entities to support the employment network suspected of harboring illegal workers and engaging in money laundering. The asset seizures were announced this month in relation to the money laundering investigation.

Despite being raided, Fuyao Glass America has maintained its stance as a victim, claiming cooperation with the investigation as it unfolds. In response to the allegations, Jared Murphey, acting Special Agent in Charge for ICE HSI Detroit, emphasized ongoing efforts to prevent illegal employment and workforce manipulation. “We will continue to investigate allegations of unfair labor practices,” said Murphey.

Notably, former President Joe Biden’s nomination of Nelson Cunningham as a deputy in the Office of the United States Trade Representative was derailed by a bipartisan group of senators over his lobbying work for Fuyao Glass America. Subsequently, Biden appointed Cunningham to an advisory role with the U.S. State Department.

    1. Hmmmm….hope they look closely at Smithfield & all the pork/beef processing plants here in NE! The one in Madison has pretty much been taken over by Hispanic workers and they’ve destroyed main street, not to mention some of the residential areas. A LOT of empty store fronts!

Remember the DC helicopter crash in January that killed 64 people, including 12 children? Turns out the female pilot who was flying was given multiple warnings and was directly told by her male instructor/copilot to turn the opposite direction of the passenger jet to avoid a collision. She ignored him and flew straight into it.
