The Hoatzin, pronounced ‘Hwat-zin”, is a peculiar tropical bird species found in South America, that has puzzled taxonomists for as long as it’s been observed. They are the only member of their genus Opisthocomus, which comes from Ancient Greek and translates to ‘wearing long hair behind’, in reference to their striking large crest. Hoatzin inhabit swamps, riparian forests, and mangroves of the Amazon and the Orinoco basins, where they spend their time eating leaves, as well as the occasional flower and fruit. They grow up to around 65cm in length, or roughly the size of a pheasant. They are sometimes referred to as the ‘Canje pheasant’, or the skunk bird, or reptile bird. They have some very primitive characteristics and isn’t the most agile for a flying bird up in the trees, but it does well with its loud voice and clever defense mechanisms. It also has a gut that resembles that of a farm animal.
Interesting Hoatzin Facts
1. Nobody knows what it is
Hoatzin is quite clearly a rapper’s stage name, and this goes some way to obscuring the true lineage of its ancestors. While recent research has narrowed things down a lot more, this bird has been placed among chickens, cuckoos, and various other clades in an attempt to figure out just what’s going on here.
2. This chick’s got claws
One thing that makes it peculiar is the claws present in the wing tips of the young birds. Hoatzins build their nests over water, and the young are clumsy little things. Having clawed hands helps them clamber through the branches and occasionally fight off eagles.
3. And a serious set of pipes
These are loud birds. Their most common call is a huff that sounds somewhere between a gorilla and a wood saw, and it’s a grating, noisy affair that carries across the rainforest. They’re also capable of groans, croaks, hisses and grunts, which they use in different contexts. When threatened by a predator, adults will flap about making all manner of alarm calls, using their outstanding voices to overwhelm and confuse their foes as the young try to fend it off with their finger talons. Even when they’re not agitated, they seem to wander about loudly huffing.
4. They’re leaf-eaters
Even their diet is unusual. There are very few birds that eat exclusively leafy vegetation, and this is one of them. While it’ll go for some fruit on occasion, the diet of a hoatzin comprises almost entirely of leaves. One of the ways they make this work is by having an equally-uncommon digestive system.

To help balance itself on the branches, the hoatzin uses a leathery bump on the bottom of its crop.
5. They’re ruminants
Most birders don’t spend a lot of time cutting into bird guts the way they might with a cow or a goat, and this may explain why it’s only recently been discovered that some birds are also ruminants. Ruminants are traditionally hooved animals with multiple stomachs, capable of extracting the majority of useful nutrients from roughage in a process that involves fermentation, chewing their own puke, and various stomach sacs and digestive stages. But the Hoatzin has shown us that it’s not just a perk of certain mammalian digestive systems, birds can do this too. At least, the Hoatzin can, and at least two other species, discovered since this was found out. The necessary gut bacteria for foregut fermentation in hoatzins comes, as is often the case, via a gooey, bacteria-ridden parcel, regurgitated into its mouth by a parent. This discovery has further scrambled the bird’s possible taxonomic lineage.
6. The are pretty stinky!
The hoatzin is also known as the ‘stink bird’ or ‘skunk bird’, as it’s said they smell like fresh cow manure. Due to their diet and digestive system similar to cows, their meals ferment in their stomachs. Its strong scent serves to deter predators as well as to attract mates.
7. They suck at flying
All this extra gut makes them a weighty bird. The crop alone can be 17% of its body weight, and to make space for this extra digestive stuff, the flying muscles are small and reduced. It can fly, but much like a chicken, it’s far more adept at flapping about loudly. When full of food, they rest their extended belly on the branch to take a load off.

8. It might be one of the most primitive flying birds in existence
Most people understand that birds descended from dinosaurs, but it’s a little-known fact that birds are dinosaurs. Of all the lineage of dinosaurs that existed 66 million years ago, only one survived: the therapods. By this time, dinosaurs had long had feathers, and many could probably fly. It’s thought archaeopteryx could get some serious air as far back as 150 million years ago, so avian dinosaurs had long been in the making by the time of the extinction. Of course, after the extinction event, about a gazillion new niches opened up for the survivors, so evolution quickly set to work modifying everyone to fill them. One hypothesis for the origin of Hoatzin was that it diverged around this time, with its ancestors showing up around 65 million years ago. This could make it one of the most ancient birds in existence. And the claws on its hands definitely corroborate this – ancient birds like archaeopteryx had these too! Though these may have disappeared and reappeared over the course of the animal’s evolution.
9. They can swim
If you thought dragging themselves around on dinosaur claws wasn’t weird enough, hoatzin chicks have another trick up their wing. While the claws can be used in defense, if that doesn’t go to plan, they can drop out of the nest and into the water below, a medium they’re quite comfortable swimming in, submerged, until the threat is gone.

10. They’re doing ok for now, but populations are declining
The sheer size of the Hoatzin’s range gives it an ecological advantage, and population numbers look good; though there’s no set estimate for just how many there are. However, the population is decreasing, and though this doesn’t spark concerns in terms of conservation just yet, it’s possibly a sign of worse to come. Populations of animals will naturally fluctuate and can often bounce back or stabilize, but the hoatzin is projected to lose around 20% of its habitat over three generations, and the factors affecting this aren’t going away any time soon. Locally, they’re eaten by humans, and internationally they’re subjects of illegal pet trading. Still, for now, they’re not close to becoming threatened.
11. The hoatzin is the national bird of Guyana
Guyana is a country on the northern mainland of South America. They can be found throughout the year in the country – along the Berbice River and its tributary, the Canje Creek, and to some extent, on the Abary, Mahaicony and Mahaica Rivers.

I actually gave one of those scratch offs to the manager of AAA branch (i worked in accounting and met him many times–nice guy, good sense of humor). We were doing a merchandise inventory. when we got back to the Main Branch, he called all excited–they were going on a trip, blah, blah, blah…then i told him to read the back of the ticket for where to redeem it…
he didn’t talk to me for a month!

Morning All!
I came downstairs this morning and heard this light banging. I called to hubby to see if it was him, but then i heard it again…it was out on the deck.
A rather chubby raccoon had wedged his fat butt between the house and the chipmunk trap and had the mouse bait box in his hands banging it against the trap, but apparently it was now empty and he was frustrated. i tapped on the window and he looked at me, then wandered off but not before peeing a trail over the deck.

“The Tennessee Star learned on Wednesday that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged member of the Central American gang Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) who was deported to El Salvador under President Donald Trump amid legal action claiming the removal was by mistake, was suspected of being engaged in human trafficking by a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) officer who detained him in December 2022, leading the THP to contact the FBI for guidance.
Within two hours, the FBI ultimately requested the THP release Garcia and the passengers in his vehicle. THP complied with the request.”

EXCERPT: “A former IRS agent instrumental in blowing the whistle on the Biden administration’s cover-up of Hunter Biden’s tax crimes is expected to be tapped by President Trump to temporarily lead the agency, according to a Tuesday report.
A memo obtained by The Wall Street Journal reportedly indicates that the president is planning to name former agent Gary Shapley as acting IRS commissioner. The revelation comes days after reports surfaced that the tax agency’s current acting chief, Melanie Krause, will be stepping down from the position.
Trump’s nominee to permanently lead the IRS, former Rep. Billy Long, R-Mo., is still awaiting Senate confirmation.
Along with fellow and former IRS agent Joseph Ziegler, Shapley was a key figure in bringing to light the Biden Department of Justice’s reported attempts to interfere with the IRS’s investigation into Hunter Biden. As Tristan Justice previously wrote in these pages, the two whistleblowers came forward in summer 2023 alleging that the Biden DOJ “thwarted investigative efforts, ‘slow-walked’ cooperation with tax agents, and even concealed critical evidence implicating President Joe Biden in a criminal bribery scheme.”….

EXCERPT: “If you think the American Medical Association (AMA) is a credible group of doctors in white lab coats, think again. The AMA is a private trade association that wields vast influence over medical practices in this country, has found a government-mandated way to line its pockets, and promotes a radical trans agenda. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. needs to eliminate the AMA money grab to protect our families.
The Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes clinicians use to report services to health insurers have become a linchpin in the American health care system. These codes are federally mandated, and all health care providers must pay royalties to the AMA to use them. That’s a heck of a cash cow for the AMA.
In 2023, the AMA raked in a staggering $495 million in revenue. A full 62 percent, $308 million, came from royalties tied to the use of CPT codes. And every dollar is paid for by taxpayers, via Medicare and Medicaid, or employers and employees in the private health insurance market.
The AMA’s financial windfall is made possible by the federal government. In 1983, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) mandated that CPT codes be used to report services under Medicare Part B. By 1986, Medicaid programs also had to adopt these codes. The 1996 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) then solidified CPT codes as the national standard for electronic health transactions. These federal mandates essentially forced every health care provider to rely on the AMA’s CPT code system, creating a monopoly. Cha-ching!
There is another model out there, though. The diagnoses being addressed by health care providers are tracked using International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes. But ICD codes are free for use by any entity worldwide. There is no reason a similar system couldn’t be developed for CPT codes…..”

EXCERPT: “Al Qaeda boss and 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden spent months living and receiving treatment in Iran, according to a bombshell interview on the Tucker Carlson Show this week.
Carlson sat down with former Pennsylvania congressman Curt Weldon (R.), who made the revelations, and also said that nosing around about the issue played a role in his being run out of Congress.
Weldon was defeated by Democrat Joe Sestak in the 2006 midterm elections. The race was overshadowed by an FBI raid of Weldon’s daughter’s home as part of a probe into whether the congressman improperly helped steer lobbying and public relations contracts her way. No charges were ever filed against him, and Weldon has long said the raid was politically motivated.
“I find out … within months after 9/11 that bin Laden has been sighted in a town called Ladiz,” the former congressman told Carlson. “It’s not in Afghanistan, it’s not in Pakistan. It’s in Iran, in an area called Balochistan.”
“Three months go by, I’m still supporting [President George W. Bush], my intel team comes back to me and says, ‘Curt, he’s being treated at a military hospital outside of Tehran,’” Weldon continued, referring to bin Laden. He added that he later met with an undercover agent for the CIA who told him bin Laden was in Iran.
Weldon, who noted his membership in the U.S. migratory bird commission, also cited a conversation he had with a Sikh falconry expert, who said bin Laden’s fowl trail ran through Persia. According to Weldon, the falconry pro told him: “My falconers are seeing bin Laden’s birds flying in Iran. You help me go to Iran. They’ll accept me there because they know me. I’ll tag his birds, and I’ll take the U.S. to exactly where he is.”
Carlson sat mostly silent as Weldon spoke, occasionally interjecting to signal his agreement.
“The point was to manipulate, to get our troops committed to go over to fight the battles in Afghanistan, Iraq, and that whole region of the world,” Weldon said. “And they had to have the justification to do that.”
“Yes,” Tucker replied. “I believe it.”
“I’d never heard it before,” Tucker told the Washington Free Beacon. “I have no idea what’s going on I think but the obvious lesson is that the U.S. government lies about Iran.”
Weldon said bin Laden’s time in Iran was facilitated by former Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, whom President Donald Trump eliminated in an airstrike in January 2020. Weldon name-dropped his past colleague, former Pennsylvania Democratic congressman Ron Klink, as someone who could back up parts of his story…..”

Can you believe it? A Judge ruled against us on 530,000 Illegal Migrants (that Joe Biden flew over the Border in his program to transport Illegals into the Country by airplane) saying that they can’t be looked at as a group, but that each case has to be tried individually. Based on the Court System, that would take approximately 100 years. What is going on with our Courts? They are totally OUT OF CONTROL. They seem to hate “TRUMP” so much, that anything goes! We are trying to bring our Country back from the destruction caused by the Democrats and Crooked Joe Biden. I won on a Policy of Common Sense, and what Common Sense do we have when we have to have 530,000 trials? This Radicalized Judge is saying that Sleepy Joe Biden can fly more than half a million Illegals into America, IN ONE DAY, but we have to hold many years of long and tedious trials to fly each and every one of them back home. Where is the JUSTICE here???

“Trump Aides Clash on Trusting Moscow”
Our Take: Last night, I joined Jon Herold on the Devolution Power Hour to discuss a number of topics, including this reported growing rift within the Trump administration between Steve Witkoff and the NeoCon Establishment Republicans.
According to a number of reports going back several weeks, various figures within the administration are salty toward Witkoff: Secretary of State Marco Rubio is bitter because President Trump has brought in a Special Envoy to do his job (Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson says that Colin Powell told George Bush that he would only agree to be Sec of State if Bush promised to never appoint any Special Envoys); General Keith Kellogg is said to be upset that Witkoff has been brought in to replace him in the negotiations with Russia; National Security Advisor Mike Waltz is reportedly outraged that Witkoff has set up several face-to-face meetings with President Putin; and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has said that he feels the same way due to Witkoff’s cavalier attitude about meeting with Hamas.
It would seem that the pragmatism of an experienced businessman like Steve Witkoff is jarring for career politicians who are accustomed to maximizing the exploitative potential of a situation by dragging it out for as long as possible. (What we typically see play out in DC.)
As I said on last night’s show, I think President Trump intentionally placed these figures in these positions in order to orchestrate this exact conflict – similar to how a fight promoter would bring in boxers to fight one another in subsequent matches at a single event.
I do think this will all reach a fever pitch, and a division will form with Steve Witkoff and Vladimir Putin on one side of the divide, and the NeoCon Republicans on the other. I expect that President Trump will take the side of Vladimir Putin and Steve Witkoff. – GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

“Biden’s FBI Ordered TN Highway Patrol to Release ‘Maryland Man’ Recently Deported to El Salvador After He Was Detained in 2022 Traffic Stop on Suspicion of Human Trafficking”
April 16, 2025 Tom Pappert
EXCERPT: “The Tennessee Star learned on Wednesday that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged member of the Central American gang Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) who was deported to El Salvador under President Donald Trump amid legal action claiming the removal was by mistake, was suspected of being engaged in human trafficking by a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) officer who detained him in December 2022, leading the THP to contact the FBI for guidance. Within two hours, the FBI ultimately requested the THP release Garcia and the passengers in his vehicle. THP complied with the request.
The Star learned from sources familiar with the incident that Abrego Garcia was stopped for an unknown reason on December 6, 2022, and that the THP officer responsible for the stop immediately discovered Abrego Garcia was transporting seven passengers, with eight individuals inside the vehicle.
During a nearly two-hour traffic stop, the THP officer determined that Abrego Garcia (pictured above) was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license and began searching for information about him.
One source told The Star that THP ultimately discovered Abrego Garcia was on a terrorist watch list, but could not locate Abrego Garcia on a deportation list. Another source told The Star that THP did not discover Abrego Garcia on a terrorist watch list but that another one of the seven passengers in the vehicle may have been on a terrorist watch list.
THP subsequently called the FBI, which was then led by former Director Christopher Wray under the Biden administration. The FBI instructed the THP officers at the scene to capture photographs of all eight people in the vehicle and document its contents.
Once the photographs were captured, this source told The Star that the FBI requested THP release all eight individuals and that the THP officers complied with this request.
The Star learned that the circumstances of the stop made the THP officer responsible for the stop concerned that Abrego Garcia was engaged in human trafficking, but that Abrego Garcia and his passengers were nonetheless released at the request of the FBI.
Information about this incident, including the identity of the THP officer, the officer’s badge number, and the Computerized Dispatch Report code assigned to the incident, are all known to The Star, which is currently withholding this information. Sources familiar with the Computerized Dispatch Report of the incident told The Star that the officer who filed the report confirmed that the seven individuals in the van were being transported from Texas to Maryland by Garcia.
Notably, it is a misdemeanor offense in the state of Tennessee to operate a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Anyone convicted of this Class B misdemeanor faces up to six months in jail.
The officer who detained Garcia temporarily is well-respected within the Tennessee Highway Patrol, has served on a special interdiction team, and is based in a district located between Nashville and Knoxville, which includes Putnam County…..”

“Witkoff Indicates US Seeks to Cap Iran Uranium Enrichment, Not Dismantle Nuclear Program”
Our Take: After early reports from this past weekend’s meeting with Iran that Steve Witkoff was going to allow them to keep their nuclear program, the MSM wrote this headline:
The headline was meant to be as provocative as it was misleading, but it only seems to have provoked Witkoff to engage the media to clarify his stance.
Under the deal currently being negotiated, Iran will be allowed to maintain a nuclear enrichment program. What will be stipulated is the level of enrichment taking place, as a civil nuclear reactor (power plant) only requires uranium enrichment at 3.67% in order to function, and “weapons grade” uranium enrichment is anything over 90%. However, there is a grey area, where enrichment levels between 20% and 60% can technically be used to make a less powerful bomb, if the quantities are large enough and the proper system is built.
According to the narrative, Iran has enriched uranium at levels over 20%, but has not produced anything that would be officially considered “weapons grade.” The concern has been that increasing those enrichment levels to exceed 90% would be a relatively easy process that could be done in a short period of time, and that is where the negotiation will focus, according to Witkoff.
There have been rumors that Russia – one of the world’s original nuclear powers – has been suggested to act as a third party, and provide adequate facilities to safely store the more highly-enriched uranium, which can purportedly still be utilized in civil applications for energy production.
Nothing has been formalized yet, but isn’t it interesting that Bibi Netanyahu is insisting that the West strike Iran now, rather than pursue a peace deal. The question will be whether Bibi will move forward with these attack plans without the blessing or consent of President Trump, and if he does, will Putin and Trump stand together to stop him? – GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

Just The News: “President Donald Trump on Tuesday night signed an executive order that rescinds two previous orders under former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, that now gives the federal government more freedom to choose office locations.
The newly repealed orders required the government to prioritize housing offices in central business districts and historic districts, which Trump claimed “failed to adequately prioritize efficient and effective government service,” by allowing the government to choose cheaper areas.
The move comes as the president works to drastically reduce the federal budget, and reshape the government. His new Department of Government Efficiency is leading the effort to save taxpayer dollars, by trimming the federal workforce and eliminating wasteful spending.
The new order also comes as the General Services Administration (GSA) sets an occupancy rate for federal buildings at 80%. If agencies do not meet the requirement, they could lose their office.
“One of the best ways to measure the efficiency of what we’re providing is the occupancy of our facilities,” GSA Public Buildings Service Commissioner Michael Peters said earlier this month. “Just one problem with that: I could do a survey of all of us and say, ‘Well, what’s the occupancy of our buildings right now?’ My guess is I’d get a couple hundred different answers, because we have no idea.”
Additionally, the action comes a day after the deadline for federal agencies to submit their potential plans to move office space away from Washington, D.C.”

If Sen. Van Hollen’s visit to El Salvador is a violation of the Logan Act he needs to face consequences.
If Letitia James committed mortgage fraud she needs to face consequences.
If entering our country illegally is a crime, then those who do it need to face consequences.
If there are no consequences, the laws are useless.

He did ask how I managed to keep my weight up w/o being able to eat hardly anything. Should have seen the look on his face when I said “Butterfingers!” “But, how…..?” I told him about the mini’s that I order by the case – suck on them and they dissolve. Surprise, surprise! He also agreed that I do have a bit of COPD (from my smoking) and is going to send me a couple of inhalers. Yeah!
It was a great trip but kind of windy – possible storms moving in later….until I got home and discovered my garage door remote doesn’t work any more. I ran to FD to pick up some new batteries but it still won’t work. So I guess I’ll check on-line for a replacement remote. Jeez! If it isn’t one thing, it’s another!!!

“Unmasking Treachery: The “deep state” has been playing a shadowy game for far too long”
Michael T. Flynn LTG USA (RET), Apr 17, 2025
“I have devoted my life to defending this nation, both on battlefields abroad and in the halls of power at home. I have witnessed enemies, both foreign and domestic, but none are as insidious as those who have infiltrated our institutions, twisted the truth, and betrayed the American people. You know who I’m talking about. The question that burns in the heart of every patriot is this: When will those who have committed crimes against our state finally be held accountable?
The “deep state” has been playing a shadowy game for far too long. From manipulated narratives to weaponized agencies, they have trampled on our Constitution, scorned our values, and laughed as we demand justice. They believe they are untouchable and think we will roll over. But here’s the truth: the American spirit does not break easily.
Accountability is coming. Not because politicians promise it, but because the truth has a way of surfacing.
However, here’s the hard truth: justice isn’t a spectator sport. It won’t just happen because we wish for it. The system is rigged to protect itself; it always has been. Just look at history. Traitors and criminals often escape punishment unless the people demand change. That’s where we come in. We must push, expose, and share. Every conversation, every shared post, and every chance we get, chip away at their armor.
I am not saying it’s easy. But I’m still here because I believe in you, in us, and in America. The timing? No one has a crystal ball. It could be tomorrow, or it could be next year. But mark my words: the longer they evade accountability, the harder the fall will be. There is a way the universe balances the scales, and the truth does not stay buried forever.
Don’t let them gaslight you into silence. Support those seeking the truth—whistleblowers, citizen journalists, and those brave enough to stand against the establishment. And never stop asking: Where is the accountability?
Keep the faith and keep fighting. America is worth it.”

It’s a pretty widely-used & common brand – Genie. I did have to pay for it – $39.95 – so it’s worthwhile to them, I expect.

They aren’t sending another old model but the new style replacement.

NF: Having worked for Lockheed-Martin, I’d much prefer SpaceX get this one!!!
“Elon Musk’s SpaceX has emerged as the leading contender to construct major components of President Donald Trump’s “Golden Dome” missile defense system, sources told Reuters on Thursday.
The plan, first authorized in a January executive order, calls for an advanced satellite shield aimed at protecting the U.S. from foreign missile threats. SpaceX, in partnership with Palantir and defense drone maker Anduril, is pitching a joint bid featuring a vast satellite network and a novel subscription-based model that would allow the federal government to access and operate the system through a recurring subscription fee, rather than owning the full infrastructure, the outlet reported.
The Department of Defense and SpaceX didn’t respond to a request for comment.
“Israel has it, other places have it, and the United States should have it too,” Trump said at his address to a joint session of Congress in March, referring to Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system. “This is a very dangerous world. We should have it. We want to be protected. And we’re going to protect our citizens like never before.”
SpaceX’s pitch reportedly involves deploying between 400 and 1,000 detection satellites and up to 200 “attack satellites” capable of intercepting threats with missiles or lasers. The proposal’s subscription-based model would mark a significant departure from traditional Pentagon procurement practices, though SpaceX argues it could speed up deployment and reduce upfront costs, according to the outlet.
Some Pentagon officials are wary of the model, which could circumvent traditional budget oversight and raise long-term cost questions, the outlet reported. The move also comes amid growing interest from both defense giants like Lockheed Martin and Boeing, and newer military-tech firms looking to capitalize on the administration’s defense innovation push.
Lockheed Martin in particular has aggressively promoted its bid to win the Golden Dome contract, releasing promotional articles and leveraging social media to advocate for its leadership role.
“We are not accustomed to having to integrate at the level that’s going to be required to integrate to go after an Iron Dome,” Space Force Gen. Michael Guetlein said of the project at the National Security Innovation Base Summit in March. The general is involved in discussions over whether SpaceX ought to own the system, Reuters reported.
“This is on the order of magnitude of the Manhattan Project,” the general said. “It’s going to take a concerted effort from the very top of our government. It’s going to take national will to bring all this together. It’s going to be a heavy lift across all the organizations that are going to be participating.”
Notably, all three companies in the SpaceX-led consortium are helmed by executives who have backed Trump politically. Musk, now spearheading the administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has donated hundreds of millions to Trump-aligned causes and helped implement Trump’s efforts to slash government waste and revamp legacy systems across federal bureaucracies, including the Pentagon — though there are rumblings of a fraying relationship between Musk and the administration, with reports emerging Wednesday of Trump abruptly pulling the plug on a China-related Pentagon briefing scheduled for the SpaceX founder.
The Golden Dome program is still in its early stages, and final decisions about its scope, design and contractors are months away, the outlet reported. But with Musk at the helm and the Pentagon reportedly expressing cautious optimism, the SpaceX team is currently positioned as the favorite to win the contract.”

Such hubris and arrogance!!!
“Death row inmates granted clemency by former President Joe Biden sued the Trump administration on Wednesday for ordering their incarceration under the most “oppressive conditions” available.
President Donald Trump issued an executive order on his first day in office that directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to ensure 37 death row inmates were “imprisoned in conditions consistent with the monstrosity of their crimes and the threats they pose,” which the lawsuit alleges is unconstitutional.
“By categorically condemning Plaintiffs to indefinite incarceration in harsh conditions in response to their receipt of clemency from the previous President, it exceeds the statutory authority granted to the Attorney General and her deputy, and is arbitrary, capricious, and an abuse of discretion; it was made without proper notice and comment; and otherwise is not in accordance with law,” the lawsuit alleges.
Individuals named in the lawsuit include men like Brandon Basham and Chadrick Fulks, who were convicted for murders committed during a 17-day crime spree when they escaped from jail in 2002. Department of Justice (DOJ) officials ordered the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to place these inmates in the only federal supermax prison in Florence, Colorado designed to “force people to live in near-total isolation,” according to the lawsuit.
Transfers of inmates from the United States Penitentiary, Terre Haute prison to the USP Florence Administrative Maximum Facility (ADX) are expected to begin as early as the week of April 21.
During his final days in office, Biden granted clemency to thousands of criminals. Along with commuting sentences for death row inmates, he commuted sentences for cop killers, drug traffickers and convicts in high-profile public corruption cases.”

“King Charles Royally Ticks Off Christians Worldwide With Bizarre, Sacrilegious Easter Message”
Red State, By Teri Christoph | 2:35 PM on April 17, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “It’s looking ever so much like Britain’s King Charles has forgotten his vow, taken not even two years ago, to be the leader and chief defender of Protestantism (A/K/A, Christianity) in the United Kingdom. When taking those vows at his May 6, 2023 coronation at Westminster Abbey, the king responded in the affirmative when asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury:
However, the Easter message delivered by the monarch on Holy Thursday 2025 looks more like multicultural slop than it does a fierce protection of Christianity in the lead up to the sacred Easter holiday. Christians around the world, and especially those in the U.K., are outraged that King Charles used this holiest of days to spew this nonsense (emphasis mine):
Nothing says “defender of the Christian faith” and reverence for the the sacrifice of the Savior quite like kowtowing to a religion that has proven time and again it is rooted in hate and division. Let’s make no mistake here—Charles used one of the most solemn days of the Christian liturgical calendar to purposely suck up to a religion that would happily wipe out Christianity if given the chance. King Charles is an “infidel” and he doesn’t seem to bloody know it.
You could make the case, but probably shouldn’t, for Judaism to be included in such a message, but Islam? Islam?? Forget the fact that Jesus Christ was crucified many centuries before Islam even became a thing, Islam is unquestionably contributing to the moral and societal rot that is plaguing the very kingdom over which King Charles rules.
Great Britain has got some big, big problems, and judging from the king’s noxious Easter message, they are loathe to address them. Just last year, the 17-year-old son of Rwadan immigrants knifed to death three young girls who were attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance camp. When everyday Brits voiced their concern over the rise of religiously-motived crime, they were threatened with arrest.
Their prime minister isn’t called “Two-Tier Keir” for nothing.
Oh, and then there were the “grooming gang” revelations of late last year. Gangs of men, mostly Pakistanis, had apparently being grooming white, working class English girls to become sex slaves, something the government covered up for over a decade. These are the kinds of people to whom King Charles gave tribute in his Easter message.
Here’s the question on everyone’s mind: did the king sing the praises of Christianity when issuing messages for, say, Ramadan? LOL. A quick glance at Charles’ 2020 Ramadan message shows nothing but slobbering praise for how Muslims responded to COVID. Nary a reference to Christ or Christians to be found.
We now go to Vice President J.D. Vance, realist and noted criticizer of Europe, for his reaction.
One last thing: President Trump might want to think twice about accepting the king’s invitation to become a member state of the British Commonwealth. It shouldn’t even be considered until U.K.’s leaders start cleaning up their messes.”

“NBA Provides LeBron With Special Whistle To Call His Own Fouls”
Sports · Apr 17, 2025 · BabylonBee.com
LOS ANGELES, CA — In a historic decision, the National Basketball Referees Association announced its intention of giving LeBron James his very own whistle to call his own fouls.
The innovation, which will go into effect during this year’s postseason, is intended to help ease the burden on refs arbitrating LeBron’s games by simply allowing him to call fouls on anyone who gets close to him.
“Before now, our referees were simply too exhausted after calling fouls every time LeBron flopped to the ground,” said Tony Franklin, an NBA head referee. “Giving LeBron his own whistle was a simple, elegant solution which continues to give LeBron as much official favoritism as possible with a minimum of referee exhaustion after games.”
“That doesn’t seem fair to me,” said one spectator before being interrupted by LeBron’s whistle and being ejected from the game.
Sources close to the Los Angeles Lakers say that the improvement has been tested during several practices with top-notch results.
“The King has been just killing it in practices with his new whistle,” said JJ Redick, the Lakers’ head coach. “As soon as anyone gets the ball from him — bam! He’s down on the ground and tweeting the whistle for dear life. Our next game will be quite a show.”
At publishing time, the NBA had further decided to let LeBron eject the other team’s players from the game.

“Liberals Warn Enforcing Immigration Law Is A Slippery Slope That May Lead To Enforcing Other Laws”
U.S. · Apr 17, 2025 · BabylonBee.com
U.S. — With politicians and pundits still involved in heated debates over the legality of the deportation of an MS-13 gang member, liberals warned the public that enforcing immigration law was a slippery slope that could lead to enforcing other laws.
Congressional Democrat leaders urged caution in the enforcement of long-existent laws that prevent foreign nationals from entering and residing in the United States illegally, citing the risk posed by setting a dangerous precedent of prosecuting other people for committing different crimes.
“This is a perilous road to go down,” said Senator Chuck Schumer. “Today, you’re talking about enforcing immigration laws to keep Americans safe. The next thing you know, you’ll be saying we should stop letting people loot and pillage stores and homes as a form of social protest, or telling everyone that falsifying votes in elections should be prosecuted. That’s a precedent I don’t think we want to set.”
Other Democrats warned of a dire future filled with peace and safety if conservatives continued to take a hardline stance on wanting laws to be enforced. “Expecting people to abide by laws and face consequences if they violate them is unreasonable and dangerous,” said Senator Cory Booker. “What’s next? Are you going to propose wild, radical ideas that physical assaults should be prevented and people who break laws should be held accountable? That’s not my America.”
At publishing time, liberals clarified that the only crimes that should be prosecuted should be the ones they make up to destroy political opponents.

“Globalists Panic as Italy’s Prime Minister Makes Stunning Alliance With President Trump — With one familiar line, Giorgia Meloni dropped a bold new populist slogan—and the elites won’t like it one bit.”
The Vigilant Fox, Apr 17, 2025
EXCERPT: “On Thursday, before stepping into the Oval Office, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with President Trump and his cabinet to talk trade. The press showed up eager to ignite a headline, hoping for signs of a looming tariff war between the U.S. and the EU.
But Meloni didn’t take the bait. Instead of grandstanding, she delivered a steady, confident show of diplomacy—and extended a personal invitation to President Trump. When a reporter tried to stir the pot, asking, “The retaliatory tariffs that the European Commission passed and then suspended, are they still on the table if you cannot make a deal with President Trump?”—Meloni didn’t blink.
“I am sure we can make a deal,” she said. She made it clear she wasn’t there on behalf of Brussels. Her focus was on building trust. “I’m here to help on that. I cannot, look, deal in the name of the European Union,” she explained.
“My goal would be to invite President Trump to pay a visit to Italy and understand if there’s a possibility when he comes to organize also such a meeting with Europe.”
Her approach was refreshingly direct. Skip the drama. Talk straight. Find common ground. “I think the best way is that we simply speak frankly about the needs that everyone has, and find ourselves in the middle for—that’s useful for all,” she said. Asked about her politics, she didn’t back away. “Somebody calls me such a ‘Western nationalism,’ I don’t know if it is the right words, but I’m sure that together we are stronger.”
And she left with a message that couldn’t be clearer: “And I have to find a way—I’m here to find the best way to make us both stronger on both sides of the Atlantic.”
(Video)
After lunch, the cameras rolled inside the Oval Office, and President Trump did something rare—he offered unfiltered praise. “She has taken Europe by storm,” he said, setting the tone right away. “It’s an honor to have the prime minister of Italy with us. Prime Minister Meloni, who’s doing a fantastic job.”
“Everybody loves her and respects her, and I can’t say that about many people,” Trump added. “She’s become a friend, and we really have a great relationship between Italy and ourselves.”
What unfolded in that room wasn’t politics as usual. It was strength recognizing strength….”
