Bewitched

Elizabeth Montgomery, born April 15, 1933 and died May 18, 1995, captivated audiences with her portrayal of a witch– Samantha Stevens– on the tv series Bewitched. She tried to lead a normal “mortal” life as a housewife, and later mother, despite the constant intrusions by her magical family.  This article from Women’s World details some fascinating facts we might not know about the series.

From Woman’s World:

Bewitched outran other fantasy shows of the era

There was a boost in popularity throughout the 1960s for otherworldly shows like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Addams Family and The Munsters. All of the shows premiered between 1964 and 1965, but the Addams and Munsters only lasted two seasons, while Jeannie gave her final blink in 1970. Even with the Darrin switcheroo, the Stephens stayed on air until 1972.

The original Darrin never wanted to leave

Five years before being cast in the series, Dick York suffered a massive back injury while filming They Came to Cordura in 1959. He never fully recovered, but put on a brave face throughout the series for five seasons. That came to an end after problems with his back came to the surface and a dependence on painkillers forced him to leave the role.

Samantha and Endora’s names come from a Biblical story

In the First Book of Samuel, there’s a story about Saul consulting the Witch of Endor to use her powers to connect him with the deceased Samuel. Obviously, Samuel became Samantha and Endor became Endora.

The ladies often wore their own clothes

The series didn’t have a huge budget for wardrobe, so many of the women simply brought in their own outfits to wear on screen. Allegedly, Elizabeth Montgomery frequently chose clothes from her own closet for Samantha’s outfits.

The color green played a role

You might not have noticed while watching, but the color green is all over this show. Whether it’s the Stephens’ house carpet or emerald accents placed around a scene, the shade appears in every episode of the show that aired in color. Montgomery also wore the color quite frequently. Sure, it might have been because she wanted to bring out her beautiful green eyes, but the color also happens to be significant in witchy folklore. Think: Wicked Witch of the West from Wizard of Oz, countless Halloween decorations, and even the face paint kids often use while dressing up as the magical beings.

They never gave an on air explanation for Darrin’s “new look”

Thinking back on the magical show, you might have assumed they used their whimsical plot lines to come up with a creative reason for why Darrin suddenly looked so different. Instead, director and producer (and real-life husband of Montgomery) figured audiences would be able to separate the actor from the role and accept the new Mr. Stephens. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case and ratings took a dip with the new Darrin.

Aunt Clara collected door knobs in real life too

Fans of the show remember Aunt Clara as one of the clumsy, bumbling, but kind-hearted witches close to Samantha throughout the series. Her spells never really worked quite right, but you couldn’t help but love her. That’s apparently due to actress Marion Lorne bringing her own charm to the role — including her personal penchant for collecting decorative door knobs.

Samantha’s alter ego got her own fan mail

Although Montgomery played both Samantha and Serena, her “twin cousin,” the role was credited to pseudonym Pandora Spocks (a play on “Pandora’s Box’). Fans of the quirky character were totally fooled and sent in letters to the studio addressed to the fake name.

Marcia Brady made two cameos

Before becoming the eldest daughter “with hair of gold” on The Brady Bunch, a young Maureen McCormick appeared in two separate episodes as different characters. First in a fantasy sequence as Darrin and Samantha’s future child (before the birth of Tabitha), then again as Endora under a spell that made her look like a child.

The Stephens’ home is still standing

You won’t find the house at 1164 Morning Glory Circle, but on the Warner Brother’s Ranch Studios. Unfortunately for fans, the ranch isn’t open to the public for tours.

Elizabeth Montgomery was pregnant while filming the first season

To hide her stomach during this period, Montgomery wore looser clothing so viewers weren’t able to tell.

Endora and Darrin’s feud didn’t translate to real life

Despite the characters of Endora and Darrin constantly being at odds with one another in the show, Dick York and Agnes Moorehead had a wonderful friendship off-screen, which left Moorehead extremely disappointed in his departure.

Racist demonkkkrats in systemically racist state of CA.

CA doubles fines on white drivers~

Two men are speeding through a construction zone on a California freeway. They have identical speeds and driving records.

They’re both stopped and get tickets. One man pays $500 and the other $100.

How is that possible? One driver is white and the other is a member of a minority group.

This illegal experiment in disproportionate racial impact known as ‘AB-645 Vehicles: Speed Safety System Pilot Program” passed the California State Assembly 62-9 and the Senate by 29-6 (the ‘no’ votes were nearly all from Republicans) before being signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom. And the systemically racist program is now being rolled out in LA, San Francisco, and other areas before the two-tier fine system can be implemented statewide….

  2. Morning, Pat! After 4 days, Wheezer was waiting this morning. Sunny but cold this morning @ 36 but at least the wind has dropped. Vis-a-vis our discussion yesterday about “insubordination”……

EXCERPT: “…..Somewhere along the way, something changed. I believe that change has taken place within the senior ranks and, by way of example, has spread throughout the force. We must once again make senior officers loyal to their oath, and the rest of the force will follow.

I have heard from some anti-Trump officers that it is acceptable for them to challenge Trump and be “disloyal” to him on political matters because while the enlisted oath of office includes the phrase “that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States,” no such words regarding the president appear in the officer oath of office. This idea is highly disturbing.

It suggests that officers are not bound to follow the lawful orders of the president if they disagree politically. Not only is this contrary to the sacred officer tradition of being apolitical, but it is also contrary to the part of the officers’ oath that requires officers to “support and defend the Constitution” (after all, the president’s military role arises in the Constitution). Finally, it is contrary to the actual commission of all U.S. military officers, which states in part: “And this officer is to observe and follow such orders and directions from time to time as may be given by the President of the United States of America.”

The trends we are seeing feel dangerously close to an embrace of 1970s South American-style military juntas. Think about Gen. Mark Milley telling China he would warn them about U.S. military activity. Think about Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman using his position on the National Security Council as a springboard for impeaching a president because he did not like the way that president was lawfully discharging his duties. These are not the marks of healthy civilian control of the military. They are instead marks of a military approaching the rationalization of a coup.

I have heard numerous theories as to how we got here, ranging from “Obama purged all the good generals” to “Gen Z are too narcissistic for selfless sacrifice,” but I attribute the breakdown quite directly to DEI policies and practices. I do not mean that the advancement of officers for DEI reasons is the cause. Rather, the inculcation of DEI policies as a core ethos of military service has been monstrously destructive. Our military has always been driven by core values, such as, “Don’t give up the ship,” “Duty, Honor, Country,” and “Always Faithful.” Traditionally, those values have been apolitical and solely revolved around the military’s fundamental mission of defeating America’s battlefield enemies.

Somewhere in these early years of the 21st century, however, DEI also became a central ethos. One need only read the policy pronouncements of the likes of C.Q. Brown and Lisa Franchetti to see that they embraced so-called diversity for diversity’s sake and that DEI policies became a core ethos of America’s military — a new “warrior ethos” grounded not in warfighting but in a purely political and public policy doctrine.

So on the one hand you have a president elected to purge the political doctrine of DEI from America’s government, and on the other hand you have a generation of senior generals and admirals who mistakenly view DEI as an apolitical military ethos, every bit as essential to the military’s lineage and traditions as Audie Murphy, the Medal of Honor, and the US Constitution. Thus, when Donald Trump seeks to exercise his constitutional powers to purge a purely political doctrine, the generals and admirals mistakenly see this as an effort to purge a fundamental, essential, and apolitical military ethos. This gives them license to feel justified in “resisting” the lawful orders of their commander-in-chief and engaging in insubordination as they falsely imagine they are protecting a core competency of our nation’s defense.

Fortunately, fixing this problem is not that hard. It merely requires some extreme intestinal fortitude by Trump, Hegseth, and the military department secretaries in the face of a media determined to discredit their every move. The solution lies in two parts: education and example-setting.

Education will involve reinvigorated training, in every service and at every level, regarding the military’s duty of loyalty to elected civilian leaders and their lawful orders. A standard curriculum must be developed in the Department of Defense regarding those constitutional duties, and that curriculum must be taught in great detail at every level and in every professional development course, from basic training for every recruit up to the “charm school” for new generals and admirals.

Example-setting will mean more of what we have already seen: the relief for cause of senior officers for insubordinate behavior. But that’s not enough. Vice Adm. Chatfield and Col. Meyers will no doubt soon be on MSNBC regaling us all with tales of the illegality of the Trump administration. Trump and Hegseth must take a more drastic approach, and the answer to that approach lies in Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which reads as follows:

Contempt toward officials: Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

This is the tool by which senior insubordinate officers must be made an example. While I doubt any generals or admirals will soon be breaking rocks at Leavenworth, the mere act of initiating a few well-publicized courts martial will drive home the message: Politics is the domain of the president, not the oath-bearing members of the uniformed services.

Good order and discipline must be restored. There is a cancer in the ranks of America’s military, and it must be expunged before it’s too late.”

  3. “Democrats Normalized The Same Political Violence That Torched PA Governor’s Mansion”

The Federalist, By: Beth Brelje, April 15, 2025

    Shapiro

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Political violence flared again in Pennsylvania on Sunday in another troubling example of an apparent nutjob who seemingly imbibed the leftist paradigm that legitimizes the use of force.

Cody Balmer — the Harrisburg man accused of torching the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion while Gov. Josh Shapiro, his family, and some guests slept inside — was charged Sunday with terrorism, attempted homicide, aggravated arson, and other related charges, according to a Pennsylvania State Police criminal complaint.

State police say Balmer was captured on several security cameras, and a woman contacted police and said that “her ex-paramour, Cody Balmer [38] was the individual responsible for setting the fire.” She told police he confessed to her and “wanted her to call police to turn him in.” Soon, he was outside police headquarters where he approached a state trooper and turned himself in, the complaint said.

    Image CreditDauphin County District Attorney

Balmer told police he put gasoline from his lawnmower into two beer bottles and carried these homemade Molotov cocktails and a sledgehammer from his house, on a nearly four-mile walk through Harrisburg, to the mansion. Security cameras show he scaled the fence, broke a window, threw one bottle into the piano room, then broke another window, went inside, and deployed the second one to burn the dining room.

Balmer told police he knew it was possible Shapiro could be inside the mansion and might get injured, and when asked what he would have done if Shapiro had caught Balmer inside the home, Balmer “advised he would have beaten him with his hammer,” the complaint said. “During the interview, Balmer admitted to harboring hatred towards Governor Shapiro.”

“This type of violence is not OK,” Shapiro said in a press conference on Sunday, and he is right. But this type of violence is celebrated by Democrats and their left-wing media.

When they called the violent 2020 Black Lives Matter riots “peaceful protests,” as thugs threw bricks in windows, looted businesses, and burned neighborhoods, the left normalized violence. When Pennsylvania authorities responded to the protests with new rules for police, instead of clear punishment for the destruction of neighborhoods, they normalized violence.

At that time, The Philadelphia Inquirer ran a column titled “Buildings Matter, Too,” about the destruction of buildings during the riots — a completely valid topic, for the paper’s architecture critic. The Inquirer’s “journalists of color” walked out in protest, the publication changed the column’s title and ran an apology, and Executive Editor Stan Wischnowski left the paper. The incident made it impossible to safely speak the truth there, and the response gave another win — a louder voice — to political violence.

Today, the left continues to devalue life and reward violence.

After another probable nutjob, Luigi Mangione, allegedly assassinated UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson (ostensibly to communicate some vague message about health insurance), shooting him in the back on a New York City sidewalk, the reaction should have been universal horror that a father and husband was needlessly dead. But some on the left thought Mangione may have had a “good point” (whatever it was, exactly) and some swooned, “Did you notice how handsome he is?”

Now there are women fangirling over him, and ditz writer Taylor Lorenz, like, totally gets it. In a mirthful CNN interview filled with laughter this week, Lorenz described how those women see Mangione.

“You’re going to see women especially that feel like, Oh my God, right? Like, here’s this man, who, who’s revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who’s young, who’s smart. He’s a person that seems … like this morally good man, which is hard to find.”

Imagine how Thompson’s family feels seeing someone minimize his murder and fawn over the suspect.

When the lines between right and wrong are unclear, our culture drifts into danger, and Democrats should not be surprised when the political violence they normalized happens to one of their own.”

“The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Monday it charged a Georgia man with sending violent threats against the head of the Trump administration’s intelligence community.

Aliakbar Mohammad Amin, 24, allegedly sent threats to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and her family over text and social media posts, the DOJ said in a press release. The announcement comes after a week full of charges related to violent animosity against Republicans and the Trump administration.

“Death to America means death to America literally, Tulsi is living on borrowed time,” Amin said in a text message to an unknown recipient, according to the DOJ. “The home you two own . . . is a legitimate target and will be hit at a time and place of our choosing,” he allegedly texted regarding Gabbard’s family. “Prepare to die, you, Tulsi, and everyone you hold dear,” Amin allegedly said in another text. “America will burn.”

Amin’s social media posts included an “image of a firearm pointed at a photograph of DNI Gabbard and her husband,” the DOJ alleged. Federal agents found a firearm when searching Amin’s home, the press release said. The FBI reportedly arrested Amin Friday night.

The DOJ did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation. Court records do not yet list Amin’s case or an attorney to contact.

Also on Monday, federal prosecutors charged a New Mexico man with arson against Trump administration adviser Elon Musk’s Tesla company and the Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) headquarters. The DOJ accused another man from Butler, Pennsylvania of threatening Musk, immigration agents and President Donald Trump himself, the agency announced Friday.”

  6. “New bill would remove adversary-owned stores from U.S. military bases”

By Morgan Sweeney, The Center Square

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Several Republican lawmakers introduced legislation Monday that aims to remove retail companies owned or controlled by China, Russia, Iran or North Korea from U.S. military bases.

The bill’s patrons say that having retail companies like China-owned nutritional supplements store GNC on American military bases is a threat to national security. GNC used to be an American company but was wholly acquired by Harbin Pharmaceuticals, “a partially state-owned enterprise in China,” in June 2020 when it filed for bankruptcy, according to a news release.

“This is a really ripe target for intelligence gathering,” said Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-NC, who sponsored the Military Installation Retail Security Act in the House.  “This is no joke about defending the integrity of our military, making sure that foreign adversaries who are actively seeking to undermine us don’t have the opportunity to do that from within our military bases.”

Harrigan said that owning GNC could give the Chinese access to the buying habits and sensitive health information of people on military bases.

The bill comes amidst a trade war between the U.S. and China and tensions between the U.S. and Iran, as Iran has been pursuing the development of its own nuclear weapons. Two congressional committees held a hearing last week where expert witnesses disparaged the influence the Chinese government has in the American economy. One of those committees is chaired by Sen. Rick Scott, R-FL, who sponsored the bill in the Senate.

“Allowing companies controlled by our biggest foreign adversaries – like Communist China, Russia, and North Korea – to operate on U.S. military bases is a completely unacceptable threat,” Scott said in a statement. “The Military Installation Retail Security Act will close the loopholes that allow these bad actors to gain footholds within our military communities.”

“This should be common sense, and I urge my colleagues to support its quick passage,” Scott added.”

  7. “The weakening Canadian dollar and Trump talking about annexing Canada has their panties in a twist, so many pansy-ass Canadians think it’s time to leave Florida. In the past two months, some Florida realtors say they’ve been inundated with Canadian sellers who are hoping to offload their properties as quickly as possible.

It’s a hard time for Canadians to own their own vacation home in the U.S. – insurance and condo premiums have increased dramatically following last hurricane season – and coupled with the weakening Canadian dollar, it’s no longer financially feasible for many snowbirds. And that’s before you get to the sense of shame that many Canadians in Florida felt for being there right now. Some were considering Portugal or Costa Rica as their new winter destinations.

Some of these snowbirds are making the big decision to sell their properties, even as the market isn’t really in their favour. Not only are interest rates still high in the U.S, but southern Florida’s market is facing a glut of properties on the market. Realtors said if snowbirds can ride out the lull, they should.

To be perfectly fair, we (well, me) won’t miss ’em. They have proven to be notoriously cheap and really shitty tippers, so the bartenders and waitresses sure as fuck won’t miss ’em, either. Juss’ sayin’…”

  9. “Plastics may disrupt the body’s clock, raise risk of chronic disease, study finds”

    Pamela Ferdinand | April 14, 2025

In humans, caffeine blocks a specific cell signal to keep us awake—but plastic chemicals appear to quickly activate it, the researchers found. (Photo credit: Getty Images for Unsplash+)

EXCERPT: “Chemicals found in common food packaging plastics like cling film and snack pouches may interfere with the body’s natural 24-hour sleep-wake cycle, increasing the risk of sleep disorders, diabetes, immune problems, and even cancer, new research shows.

Published this month in Environment International, the study from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology is the first to show that everyday polyurethane (PUR) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics contain compounds that can disrupt the body’s internal clock (circadian rhythm) by quickly interfering with a specific cell signal (A1R) linked to sleep and light.

Unlike previous research that focused on slow, hormone-related effects, this study reveals a faster, direct impact on key “clock genes” through a different kind of biological pathway. That means plastic chemicals may contribute to serious health problems like diabetes or cancers in more ways than scientists currently know, the researchers say.

“All of our cells follow a circadian rhythm, and the chemicals found in plastics can change that rhythm. Importantly, these chemicals are making rapid changes in our cells that can turn into sustained changes over longer periods of time,” says lead author Molly Young McPartland. “Circadian rhythms are one outcome affected by the biological pathway initiated by A1R, but not the only one. This work really demonstrates how much we still have to learn about exactly how plastic chemicals can affect our cells.”Plastic chemicals may throw our body clock off balance

Plastic compounds in everything from toys to personal care products can harm health when they leach into the environment and human body. PVC and PUR are among the most common types of plastics, found nearly everywhere in our homes, schools, and offices.

    For example:

    • PVC is used in food packaging like clear trays, blister packs (e.g., for gum), and shrink wraps, especially for meats and produce.
    • PUR is typically found in multilayer flexible packaging as an adhesive or coating—such as in snack pouches and foil-lined food wrappers—and sometimes in foam inserts for protecting delicate items like chocolates.

Our body’s 24-hour internal clock controls sleep, metabolism, immune function, cell repair, and other essential functions. The circadian rhythm is influenced by environmental cues like sunlight, temperature, and oxygen, as well as internal signals such as hormones and metabolism.

When the rhythm is off balance, however, it has been shown to contribute to the development of serious long-term health problems like diabetes, cancer, or heart disease.

Part of that may be due to the fact that plastic chemicals have long been known to release endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs)—such as phthalates and bisphenols—that can interfere with the body’s hormone systems.

Now, this study highlights a new potential impact disrupting the timing of two key genes that help control the body’s internal clock. The delays are less powerful than what happens after caffeine consumption or bedtime exposure to light, the researchers note. Many factors also affect how sensitive an individual may be to both internal and external signals that control the body clock.

However, long-term, frequent exposure to plastic chemicals—especially through food packaging—makes the potential impact more concerning, the researchers say. When repeated daily and combined with other environmental disruptions, exposure could shift the timing of key body processes that contribute to negative health impacts over time, they say.

Caffeine wakes us up, plastics do the opposite…..”

  11. “Cringe Ensues After Syracuse Police Claim Uzi Submachine Gun Handed Over At Buyback”

    Bearing Arms, By Tom Knighton | 6:29 PM | April 14, 2025

    monkeybusinessimages/iStock/Getty Images Plus

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “I was recently accused of being anti-cop. Why? I guess because I don’t see the police as perfect. I recognize there are good cops, bad cops, and most are somewhere in between the two, just like in any other sizable group of people. The problem is that some people like to diefy them, and with the anti-gun side, they act like they’re the gun experts in most ways. They’re the people we should totally default to listening to on everything.

And to be sure, there are some police officers who are bonafide experts on firearms, including how to identify and handle them. Most know what they’re likely to encounter at a crime scene or on a suspect’s person with acute detail in their communities, but many know little outside of that.

I bring this up because I came across a story from a buyback in Syracuse earlier today. Now, I’d already written about a buyback today, and didn’t want to do it again, but I still read the story because it mentioned one firearm in particular, one you don’t see turned in every day.

Syracuse, N.Y. — People turned in 130 assault rifles Saturday at a gun buyback at St. Lucy’s Church, more than 3 times as many collected at a similar event two years ago.

One of those guns was an Uzi submachine gun, according to Syracuse police.

An Uzi? An actual Uzi submachine gun? That’s something you don’t see every day, and if it’s a transferable gun that was lawfully owned, it’s an absolute shame to see it turned in somewhere that it will be destroyed. Luckily, there are some pictures of some of the guns turned in, and that’s where things get stupid.

It was a little more for a single screenshot, all from the same publication linked above, but it was critical to show that this was the gun the reporter was told was a Uzi. He was told it was a submachine gun.

That’s a MAC-10, though, not a Uzi. While a MAC-10 might have a similar silhouette to a Micro Uzi, there are profound differences. This was pretty clear to me from the jump, and I’m not an expert at identifying every make and model of a gun on sight. I just can’t do it most of the time, but this was glaring.

It should be noted that MAC-10s were available in a semi-auto version that was easily available at one time and can still be lawfully purchased. At least you can unless the ATF decides to lie about it. So it might not be a submachine gun of any description at all.

Now, not to beat up this officer over a mistake–and yes, I do think it was a mistake or, if not, it better to give the benefit of the doubt here–this is the sort of thing shows a lot about how your average law enforcement officer isn’t all that well-versed in firearms. They shoot guns as part of their training, of course, and I’m sure they’re briefed on particular firearms that might represent a threat to them or the public, but when people quote them as if it’s the gospel truth, that’s simply not a great idea in many cases.

That’s true when Giffords quotes a law enforcement source while pushing their anti-gun agenda, and it’s true when some schlub on Facebook or X tries to tell you that they know they’re right because their father’s brother’s nephew’s former college roommate is a police officer and he said so.

This is a case of an officer who doesn’t remotely know what he’s talking about, but told the reporter what it supposedly was with some degree of authority, only to be wrong and probably wrong on multiple levels.

If pointing out that police officers can make mistakes somehow makes me anti-cop, then so be it.”

I’ll also take some pics to post as well.

I had thought about putting up a “FREE” sign in my driveway and just piling it all out there but some of it can’t be out in the rain. Plus it’s waaaay too much work! Hmmmm….maybe I’ll wait on the boxes and list them as well! Some of the small businesses in town might like them, now that I think about it….

  13. Trump Calls for CBS to Lose its Broadcasting Licence

CBS News must have its broadcasting license revoked, US President Donald Trump has said. He has accused the network of spreading politically biased misinformation in its coverage of the Ukraine conflict and Washington’s push to acquire Greenland.

In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump lashed out at the broadcaster after it aired an interview with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky and a segment revisiting the US president’s controversial idea to purchase Greenland.

In the Zelensky interview, the network suggested that Trump had sought to exclude Kiev from peace talks with Russia and that he “rewrote history, saying, falsely, that Ukraine had started the war and calling… Zelensky ‘a dictator without elections.’”

The US president’s “dictator” comment in February was referring to the fact that Zelensky’s presidential term expired last year and that he has refused to call a new vote, citing martial law. Trump has since softened his rhetoric about the Ukrainian leader.

The CBS report on Greenland focused on the island’s residents’ purported reluctance to become part of the US. — RT

Our Take: I agree with President Trump. All of the CIA’s propaganda outlets should lose their broadcasting licenses for engaging in illegal psychological warfare operations against the American People. The operatives involved should be hunted down and tried for treason, and all of the details of their nefarious misdeeds should be disclosed to the unwitting public.

It is past time for the Age of Truth to break, and for the Age of Deception to come crashing down. — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

🚨 New tool in the works! 🚨

Today I’ve been deep in the guts of something ambitious: a system to cross-check Form 990 data, audit reports, and federal spending to flag when an org’s stated purpose doesn’t match where the money’s actually going. 🕵️‍♂️💸

    Here’s how it’s coming together:

1️⃣ Scraped audit metadata by EIN from the Federal Audit Clearinghouse ✅
2️⃣ Pulled all audit PDFs for every tax year ✅
3️⃣ Extracted Program III, Schedule O, and mission statements from 990s ✅
4️⃣ Identified all candidate FAINs from those audits ✅
5️⃣ Matching real award IDs in the USASpending database via UEIs/FAINs (tonight)
6️⃣ Using AI to surface discrepancies between award descriptions and 990 claims (tomorrow)
7️⃣ Publishing the tool (also tomorrow) 🚀

We’ve already spot-checked a few orgs where the federal grant descriptions either don’t match anything in the 990… or wildly exceed what the org claims to have done.

This might be the first large-scale “hey, here’s where DOGE should dig deeper” tool.

    Coming soon 👀

  15. The National Pulse (2 hours ago):

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Europe faces an expected surge in Chinese products due to the ongoing trade clash between the United States and China. With U.S.-imposed tariffs dampening export opportunities for Chinese goods, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) could seek to dump exports on the European market. This situation raises alarm over the potential negative impact on local industries across the European Union (EU).

The situation stems from President Donald J. Trump’s hefty tariffs on China, which have significantly obstructed Chinese exports to American markets. Consequently, there are growing apprehensions that these goods—ranging from electric vehicles to consumer gadgets—might overflow into the European market. Such an influx could undercut European manufacturers, impacting economic stability in major economies like France, Germany, and Italy.

“The overcapacity challenge has taken a long time, but it has finally arrived in European capitals,” remarked Liana Fix of the Council on Foreign Relations.

In response to the mounting concerns, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has emphasized the importance of constructive engagement with China. She acknowledges the indirect effects of the U.S.-imposed tariffs, stressing the need for vigilance in monitoring Chinese imports. A newly constituted task force will track these imports for signs of dumping, aiming to maintain market balance within Europe.

President Trump also enacted significant tariffs on European Union goods—though the trade duties have been reduced to 10 percent for a 90-day grace period while trade negotiations take place. The EU initially announced its own retaliatory tariffs, but it later caved and announced it would suspend the idea to pursue trade negotiations.”

  16. “Hungary Gets Constitutional in Fight to Protect Kids From LGBT Ideology”

The National Pulse, 6 hours ago

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Hungary’s parliament has approved a constitutional amendment enabling authorities to ban LGBTQ public events to protect children from LGBTQ ideology. The amendment, which passed Monday, explicitly allows the government to halt events such as Budapest‘s annual Pride march.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban said of the constitutional changes, “Hungary’s constitutional amendment is now law. We’re protecting children’s development, affirming that a person is born either male or female, and standing firm against drugs and foreign interference.”

Specifically, the amendment allows for the prohibition of events that “promote or display deviation from a person’s gender at birth, gender reassignment, or homosexuality” in settings where children could be exposed to them, such as public streets.

In response to the amendment, opposition politicians and demonstrators blockaded the parliament’s entrances and used air horns to disrupt proceedings inside the legislature.

In addition to the provisions concerning Pride marches, the amendment codifies previously stated definitions regarding gender, explicitly recognizing only two sexes. In a statement, the government said this clarifies that laws around sex and gender are based on biological realities rather than self-identification.

Further provisions in the amendment include a right to cash payments, a right to community self-defense, powers to strip dual nationals working for foreign powers of their Hungarian citizenship, and an explicit ban on the production and promotion of narcotics.

This is the 15th amendment to the constitution penned by an Orban government since 2011. This reflects his party’s strong, sustained mandate from the Hungarian electorate, which is necessary for constitutional amendments to pass.”

  17. NF: It was actually begun under Killary and Obama!!!

The National Pulse, April 14, 2025

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The White House rebuffed allegations from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday after he criticized Vice President J.D. Vance for supposedly justifying Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions. During a CBS 60 Minutes interview aired on Sunday, Zelensky accused Vance and President Donald J. Trump of promoting an “altered reality” concerning events leading up to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Zelensky suggested Vance seemed to approve of Putin’s actions, a claim that prompted a swift reply from Vance’s press team.

Taylor Van Kirk, the Vice President’s press secretary, responded to Zelensky’s allegations, emphasizing that Vance has consistently stated that the war’s origins lie in the Biden government’s “weakness and incompetence.” “Instead of mischaracterizing Vice President Vance’s rhetoric, President Zelensky should be focused on bringing this conflict to a peaceful conclusion,” Van Kirk said.

This recent escalation follows a previous meeting in the Oval Office, during which Zelensky faced harsh criticism from both Trump and Vance over his ungrateful behavior. Zelensky, who sparked the clash by starting an argument with Vance over the need for diplomacy, was later removed from the White House.

President Trump, placing responsibility for the war on former President Joe Biden, expressed his determination to halt the ongoing violence in a post on Truth Social, emphasizing an urgency to cease hostilities.”

    From a 100 billion dollar surplus…..

NEW: Gavin Newsom is asking for a $2.8 billion BAILOUT for CA’s Medicaid program after he opened it up to illegals. This is on top of a $3.4 billion loan issued last week.

This marks nearly $6.2 billion in just a few weeks. Why should taxpayers fund Medicaid for illegals? pic.twitter.com/qOW0fXwx6t

  22. Red State: “In this episode of “Flying Pigs Alert”…Wonders never cease. In fact, what happened on Monday’s episode of ABC’s “The View” was genuinely shocking — in a “wait, what?” way.

Show moderator Whoopi Goldberg, seemingly out of nowhere, not only backed one of President Donald Trump’s key policy proposals, but she did so in a concise and logical manner. If that’s not a “flying pigs” moment, I’m not sure what is.

So here’s Whoopi, whose TDS-riddled loathing of all things Donald Trump is legendary — hilarious, but still legendary — as it that of the other, as I like to call them, “lady geniuses” on the silly show, dropping a bomb on her co-hosts, likely the audience, and apparently even ABC.

Ready? Whoopi endorsed Trump’s desire to abolish the Department of Education. No, really. We’ll continue after you pick yourself up off the floor.

As I suggested at the top, Goldberg’s argument was concise, correct, and to the point:

What we have to always do, regardless of who we voted for — you still gotta pay your rent, you still gotta take care of your kids, you still gotta take care of your business — and maybe some of what’s happening, like they’re trying to take apart the Department of Education, maybe that is a good thing.

Maybe it will force us to make sure that out kids actually get what they need. Maybe it’ll force us to go to our state and say ‘Listen, I want to make sure, since you’ve taken all this money from my taxes, I want to make sure that my kids get exactly what they need.’ I don’t have to wait for the government to do it. We can do it.

This is now in our hands. And it’s gonna be tough. Nobody wants to do it, because it’s a b****. But you know what? If it comes down to your survival, this is what you gotta do. You gotta take care of what you gotta take care of.

Goldberg then looked off-set, and abruptly said: “And they’re telling me that we’re gonna be right back.”

Needless to say, you could have heard a pin drop while Whoopi told the truth about the state of public education in America. And the dour look on Sunny Hostin’s face? Laugh-out-loud hilarious.

Just as good, ABC cutting off the segment with a commercial break. Why that decision was made, we’ll likely never know. But do know that based on the reaction of the others on the panel and studio audience, the shocking reaction to Whoopi’s comments was palpable.

So here’s the deal: As is the case with HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher, who can chastise his Democrat comrades on minute, and rip Trump and his followers to shreds the next, Whoopi Goldberg’s temporary moment of sanity was exactly that. Along with the rest of the lady geniuses of “The View,” she’s hardwired to hate Donald Trump and all he represents.”

  23. Just The News: “The Defense Department (DoD) on Tuesday placed one of its advisers on leave while an investigation into leaks from the department is underway.

A DoD official told the Daily Wire that Dan Caldwell, an adviser to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, was placed on leave amid the investigation. Reuters also reported that Caldwell was placed on leave and escorted out of the building because of “an unauthorized disclosure.”

It is not clear what the “unauthorized disclosure” was, but it comes after Trump administration officials introduced several measures to combat leaks to the press. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, for example, is now requiring suspected leakers to take polygraph tests.

The move also comes after the Pentagon announced last month that it was investigating leaks of national security information. Hegseth has not commented on what the leaks entailed. He has also not publicly commented on placing Caldwell on leave.”
