This is a typical article that argues for due process for illegals and lists some SCOTUS decisions that seem to support it. I think there are nuances within such decisions and that they don’t necessarily mean that people purposely breaking our laws and evading law enforcement can hide until found and brought to trial. This might end up back at the Supreme Court.

Aliens have constitutional rights if they are charged with a crime.
That has nothing to do with being removed [deported] from this country because the feds aren’t charging the illegals criminally.
They are being processed in Admin court. For being here without permission.
That is why SCOTUS held that their only access to the justice system [immigration court is NOT part of the justice system] was through a habeas petition in the jurisdiction where they are being held.
They cannot just walk into a fed district court and sue [like we citizens can].
Notice that Homan and ICE have to knock on the door and ask them to open up. Because they don’t have a warrant. They want these guys out. To get a warrant, the US Attorney has to file charges.
ICE can’t deport the alien because he’s then under Article 3 court jurisdiction. So they just process them administratively and poof! on a plane to CECOT.

Yes! Thank you for that explanation. (I think the Left will ignore those facts for propaganda purposes.)
So it’s in the government’s interest to not file charges of crimes because that would place the illegals in the justice system, which would require trials and due process (if I’m understanding correctly). But administrative processing outside of the court system enables illegals to be removed immediately.

i managed to swat the chipmunk off the deck–cost me a sunflower seed. lol. he ran (predictably) under the grill…I took my broom and stooped and shoved him off the deck. he’ll be back…little sucker has been back 3 times this morning. we moved the trap to behind the table and he goes in –he can smell the little dish of seeds in there– but he never goes in far enough to trip the cage. sigh.

My favorite part about this narrative deployment is that the “leak” appears to have come from the HR McMaster camp, and there appear to think that they are “owning” President Trump with it.

American Wire News: “A man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s home and lighting it on fire. Authorities say the suspect snuck into the governor’s home while he and his family were sleeping and started the fire, prompting Shapiro, his wife Lori, four children, two dogs, and other family members to evacuate.
The man suspected of plotting and carrying out the alleged arson was identified as 38-year-old Cody Balmer, who reportedly turned himself in to police. He is accused of targeting the Jewish politician’s home just hours after he hosted a Passover dinner for his family. According to the affidavit, the man reportedly admitted to harboring “hatred” for the governor and planned to beat him with a hammer if he had come across Shapiro in his own home.
Balmer was somehow able to evade authorities actively searching for him, scaling an iron security fence and breaking windows with a hammer before entering the home and using handmade Molotov cocktails to start the blaze. He also admitted to putting gasoline siphoned from a lawnmower into beer bottles, according to the affidavit. Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police called the alleged arson a “methodical” attack on the governor.
Luckily, everyone was safely evacuated from the home and the blaze was safely extinguished. When asked if he knew there was a possibility Shapiro and other family members could have been in the home at the time of the fire, Balmer reportedly answered affirmatively.
“Balmer has faced criminal charges over the past decade, including simple assault, theft, and forgery, according to online court records. He drew a sentence of probation after guilty pleas to theft and forgery counts. Simple assault charges from 2023 appeared unresolved,” reported WBAL-TV.
The suspect is currently being charged with attempted murder, terrorism, aggravated arson, and aggravated assault, and was actually due back in court on a separate case involving a 2023 simple assault charge.
Vice President JD Vance condemned the attack as “really disgusting violence,” while Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman called it “truly appalling.” Shapiro thanked everyone who had offered support and encouragement, claiming he will not be “deterred” by the violence.
“I want you all to know that your prayers lift us up, and in this moment of darkness we are choosing to see light,” he said in an emotional statement. “This type of violence is not OK,” he added. “We have to be better than this.”
“If this individual was trying to deter me from doing my job as your governor, rest assured, I will find a way to work even harder than I was.”

Townhall: “The reference to the proverbial “Florida man” has been a long-running joke — no offense to our own resident Florida Man, Brad Slager — but lately, there’s been a lot of talk about a “Maryland father.” The fate of Salvadoran national Kilmar Abrego Garcia remains to be sorted out — and it’s been fascinating to watch the legal battles over it — but coverage of the case in the legacy media has overwhelmingly and repeatedly referred to him as a “Maryland father,” as though his having taken up residence in the Old Line State and produced offspring somehow negates the fact that he was in the country illegally — and subject to an order of removal (with the caveat that he was not to be removed back to his home country).
And let’s say the media wants to ignore the fact that in 2019, an immigration judge found DHS’ determination that Abrego Garcia was a member of MS-13 “trustworthy” and “supported by other evidence” and avoid, at all costs, conceding his membership in the gang now designated a “foreign terrorist organization.” They could just as easily refer to him as the “Salvadoran national” that he is — that’s not a loaded characterization in either direction. But no, they insist on referring to him as merely a “Maryland father” in an effort to evoke sympathy for his plight.

If we combine more secure ID with paper ballots and same-day voting, the Dems will no longer be able to use their favorite election fraud methods, i.e. illegals voting and ballot harvesting. So i made the Easter candy today. I made the centers this morning and put them in the fridge to get cold. then after lunch i melted the chocolate and crushed the peanuts. In the meantime, the chipmunk set off the trap on the deck. then he panicked and squeezed his little but THRU the tiny openings in the sides. so hubby went back out and reset it, not 15 minutes later, he set it off again. i was doing better chasing him with the broom. now he’s just toying with us…LOL

“It makes clear that the intention is not to work with us to address antisemitism in a cooperative and constructive manner,” Garber said. “Although some of the demands outlined by the government are aimed at combating antisemitism, the majority represent direct governmental regulation of the ‘intellectual conditions’ at Harvard.”
Another demand was allowing the government to audit programs offered at the school “that most fuel antisemitic harassment or reflect ideological capture.”
Garber claimed that the demands were “unprecedented” and were a federal overreach because the government was trying to control the school. He added that the university has formally rejected the demands through legal counsel.
“The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights,” the university wrote in a post to X. “Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government.”

Just The News: “The White House is expected to ask Congress to cut at least $9 billion in federal funding from the upcoming budget, which includes cuts to funding for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and other controversial programming.
A White House official told The Hill that the cuts would include funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which oversees National Public Radio (NPR) and PBS, and USAID because aspects of funding for both organizations go to things that do not align with the Trump administration.
The rescission package is expected to be formally presented to Congress when it returns from its Easter recess on April 28.”

So Kaitlan Collins did exactly that. She turned to Bukele and asked: “Do you plan to return him?”
Bukele didn’t hesitate and replied, “Well, I suppose you’re not suggesting that I smuggle a terrorist into the United States, right? How can I smuggle? How can I return him to the United States? Like I smuggle him into the United States? Or what do I do? Of course I’m not going to do it.”
He called out the framing directly, adding, “The question is preposterous. How can I smuggle a terrorist to the United States? I don’t have the power to return him to the United States.”
“I mean, we’re not very fond of releasing terrorists into our country,” Bukele continued before dropping a line that made Collins look foolish.
“We just turned the murder capital of the world into the safest country of the western hemisphere, and you want us to go back into releasing criminals so we can go back to being the murder capital of the world? That’s—that’s not going to happen,” Bukele shot back.
