Lighthouses are pretty cool in my opinion, but I’m not sure I’d want to live in one. This “lighthouse” estate is in Alabama and is unique. Inland Alabama doesn’t seem like a great place for a lighthouse, but the improbable location didn’t faze the sea-obsessed builder of this six-bedroom, 18,000-square-foot home on Lake Guntersville. The lighthouse itself is six stories high, made of marble and concrete, and topped with a catwalk so the owners can survey their kingdom.

From AL.COM:
GUNTERSVILLE, Alabama – The lighthouse on Lake Guntersville attracts the curious. They drift by in their boats, their voices carrying over the water as they try to guess why the structure is there. Some don’t realize the lighthouse fronts what is an 18,000-square-foot home. What many don’t know is the eight-story structure is the culmination of one man’s life work.
The lighthouse house Jim Kennamer built on four acres of lake-front property is for sale now, on the market for $3.25 million. The property has been appraised for $6 million, but with a soft economy and the desire to sell, Realtor Ernie Tidmore has set a lower price.

Musk’s Attack on Waste, Fraud and Abuse Threatens Status Quo
Pro-Inefficiency Democrats are hopping mad.
Ann Coulter
Feb 19, 2025
https://anncoulter.substack.com/p/musks-attack-on-waste-fraud-and-abuse
Desperate to protect government employees who are paid upward of $100,000 a year to surf porn all day (or do something even more disgusting, like funnel money to USAID), Democrats are beside themselves about Elon Musk. His Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) clearly violates the very letter and spirit of government work.
Fourteen states and dozens of “civil servants” (useless government employees) have sued to stop this madman. Luckily for the media, there are stables of law professors ready to assure the public that the lawsuits are based on solid legal theories, just like the Russian collusion investigation, Alvin Bragg’s criminal prosecution of Donald Trump, Colorado’s attempt to keep Trump off the ballot and so on.
The gist of their argument is that Musk has been given enormous power and therefore requires Senate confirmation.
What kind of president would give massive authority to an adviser who hasn’t been confirmed by the Senate? Only every Democratic president who’s ever lived.
The difference is that their advisers are unconfirmed because they’re progressive lunatics who couldn’t be confirmed in a million years. The other difference is the Democrats’ unconfirmed advisers proceed to do things the American people don’t want and didn’t ask for — as opposed to Musk, who is doing something the voters definitely do want and did ask for.
Neither voters nor the Senate voted for Soviet spy Alger Hiss to be President Franklin Roosevelt’s top adviser. But he sat at the president’s side at Yalta, as FDR cheerfully condemned tens of millions of people to live under communism.
Then there was Hillary Clinton, who was put in charge of remaking America’s entire health care system. She wasn’t confirmed; her only authority came from being the president’s wife. Hillary promptly hired the unconfirmed and unconfirmable Ira Magaziner, and together, they assembled a “task force” with more than 600 members, who not only weren’t confirmed, but whose names were hidden from the public. (Many, it later turned out, had a financial interest in the plan.)

Just The News: “The law firm Perkins Coie on Tuesday sued the Trump administration for revoking the security clearances of some of its staff, accusing the administration of targeting the firm for its representation of Democratic clients.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order last week that cited the firm’s “dishonest and dangerous activity,” which stripped it of its clearances and essentially barred its attorneys from federal buildings, The Hill reported.
The firm worked with the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign of 2016 and Fusion GPS to produce the Steele Dossier.
“The Order imposes these punishments as retaliation for the firm’s association with, and representation of, clients that the President perceives as his political opponents,” Perkins Coie wrote in the suit. “The retaliatory aim of the Order is intentionally obvious to the general public and the press because the very goal is to chill future lawyers from representing particular clients.”
The lawsuit also alleged that the executive order violated its First Amendment rights to free speech, and its Fifth Amendment rights to due process. Perkins Coie is being represented by Williams & Connolly.”

The Daily BS: “(The Center Square) – A California father was shocked when the bill for an ambulance for his daughter doubled after adding his insurance, which he says is because of a new state law that punishes him for having coverage.
Social media star and California father Robby Witt recorded his heated call with a billing department after he added his insurance information to save money. Initially billed $603.34 as an assumed uninsured patient, Witt added his insurance details, resulting in his out-of-pocket bill more than doubling to $1,263.29.
“The first invoice you received, that’s a discount you received if you’re uninsured so you’re not eligible for the discount since you are insured,” said the billing department representative. “The bill was $2,342.14. We billed your insurance. Your insurance only paid $1,078.85.”
When Witt asked if he can get the discount if he canceled his insurance, he was told that he had active coverage on the date of service. “So I’ll get cheaper health care if I’m uninsured,” retorted Witt. “I pay for insurance, and I end up paying more out of pocket because I pay for a premium. That’s wild.”
The billing department representative explained California’s Assembly Bill 716 requires that uninsured patients receive a discounted rate.
Under AB 716, uninsured patients must be billed the same low ambulance rate as the greater of that charged to taxpayer-funded Medi-Cal or Medicare programs. The bill also requires that out-of-pocket costs for insured patients using ambulances be the same for the patient whether the ambulance provider is in network or out of network.
Witt’s out-of-pocket bill doubled both because of the initial uninsured discount and the high cost-sharing of his plan. By choosing a lower-premium, higher cost-sharing plan to save money, Witt is stuck paying for both insurance and high costs, which he suggested could have been avoided by having no insurance at all.
“If I want to pay less for medical care, I should cancel my insurance?” asked Witt. “I don’t know sir, if you should cancel your insurance,” said the representative. “I’m just letting you know the discount is only for patients who are uninsured.”

Hmmmm…..interesting. I posted something about this yesterday, IIRC. This is a new twist and one of the reasons I really don’t care about Israel – YMMV.
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/poland-arrests-ukrainian-woman-convicted-selling-56-human-kidneys-2025-03-11/
Our Take: She was also convicted of illegally obtaining “kidneys from 56 injured parties in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Thailand” for financial benefit and of “making the crimes committed a permanent source of income.”
Kazakhstan? Well that affirms a theory I’ve posited before in this newsletter — that there may be some sort of a Black Sea organ smuggling ring between Turkey and Ukraine, which could also involve Kazakhstan. Given its lax banking regulations and stern inclination to refuse extradition requests for any of its citizens, no matter how sick the crime, Israel would be an ideal home base of operations for such a cartel.
I will you remind of the Israeli organ smuggling ring that was busted in Turkey last May.
As the late investigative author Gordon Thomas explains in his book, Robert Maxwell: Israel’s Super Spy, when the demise of the Soviet Union became undeniable in the 1980’s, the crime boss of the Ukrainian Mafia (Semion Mogilevich) briefly moved to Israel, along with his operation. As longtime business partners with Maxwell, Mogilevich learned how to launder money from the man who had pioneered the craft in the modern monetary system– and Israel offered the most favorable and low-risk opportunity, given the nature of its banking system.
Mogilevich was finally placed on the FBI Wanted List in 2009, though he was removed in 2016 due to the suspicion that “he is believed to be living in a country where the United States doesn’t have an extradition treaty.”
Regardless of whether Mogilevich is in any way connected to this Ukrainian organ smuggling ring, Gordon Thomas explained in his book that not only did the Ukrainian and Russian Mafias launder billions of dollars through Israel, but that it was Ghislaine Maxwell’s father that taught them all how to do it.

This is true – but Islam is the only widespread religion in the world that does not officially accept that their Sharia law is subject to civil law – that makes Islam dangerous and, therefore, it should be banned within the US. In fact, Muslims who do not wish to follow Sharia are in even more danger than those from other religions. Many come here to avoid that specifically but are too frightened to speak out.

I just learned something. I’m still trying to figure the difference between Sharia and Shi’ites. The maxim to “Do onto others as you would have them do unto you” makes practical sense that has little to do with religion.

Just The News: “The overwhelming majority of Americans support requiring immigrants to the country to adapt to American culture and learn English and back at least some measures to encourage that behavior, according to a recent survey.
Ninety-six percent of registered voters expressed the belief that it was important for immigrants to learn English, including 75% who said it was “very important,” according to a Napolitan News survey. Seventy-six percent, moreover, approved of President Donald Trump’s executive order establishing English as the official language, including 96% of Republicans and 52% of Democrats.
GCM25-0305 Toplines – Immigration.pdf
The public was more split on issuing government forms exclusively in English, with 45% supporting the move, 50% wanting their availability in other languages, and 5% unsure. The numbers nearly reversed when the matter turned to ballots, with 50% saying they should be available only in English and 48% saying they should come in other languages.
When pressed on the importance of assimilation, 61% said it was most important for immigrants to adapt to American culture, compared to 27% who said they should prioritize the culture of their home country and 12% who were unsure.
Americans also expressed the view that immigrants needed to support the nation’s founding ideals, with 49% saying it was very important and 38% saying it was somewhat important. Conducted March 6 among 1,000 registered voters, the survey has a margin-of-error of +/- 3.1%.”

Good afternoon, ladies. I’m an outlier, but I believe Americans should have the ability to speak or understand other languages. Why make language a political issue?
LikeLiked by 2 people
If Americans wish to, yes – no-one is stopping them from learning another language. But they shouldn’t be forced to do so. It is incumbent on the new arrivals to learn English. Their countries certainly wouldn’t go to such lengths for Americans. If you visit France, you must know the language or have a translator, right?

I agree, despite the fact that facility with languages is very educational in itself. No one forces Norwegians to learn anything else, but it is a mark of versatility if they can. Knowing some Latin was a great benefit to me in medical school (and in learning French).

I took four years of Latin and six years of French. Latin taught me about language structure and many word roots, that came in handy in medical school. It helped a lot with understanding how French grammar is designed. I don’t speak anything fluently, not even English, and I haven’t spoken French enough in years to maintain proficiency.

Just The News: “Senate Democrats on Wednesday said they will not support the House-passed funding bill that would delay a government shutdown for six months, and insisted on the Senate voting on a 30-day extension instead.
The House passed its spending bill on Tuesday night, in a 217-213 vote that was largely along party lines. But the legislation still needs to be approved by the Senate and President Donald Trump by the weekend.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer led the Democratic response to the bill, stating that his party needs more time to negotiate with Republicans on the annual appropriations bills, according to The Hill.
“Republicans chose a partisan path, drafting their continuing resolution without any input, any input from congressional Democrats,” Schumer said in a statement. “Because of that, Republicans do not have the votes in the Senate to invoke cloture on the House CR [continuing resolution].”
“Our caucus is unified on a clean April 11 CR that will keep the government open and give Congress time to negotiate bipartisan legislation that can pass,” Schumer continued. “We should vote on that. I hope, I hope our Republican colleagues will join us to avoid a shutdown on Friday.”
