The Mummy

Today is Rachel Weisz’s birthday (born in 1970) and I know her best from the movie The Mummy. The movie combines horror and humor with costar Brendan Frasier.  There are some very interesting things from the movie that I didn’t know and wanted to share.

This iconic scene from the movie, shows Evy (Rachel) destroying the library.  The amazing thing is the stunt double did it all in ONE TAKE!

Beni (the stereotypical lackey) isn’t exactly loved by anyone in The Mummy, as he forms an alliance with Imhotep to save his own skin, willing to throw everyone else into the fire for his own benefit. Beni isn’t even loved by the camels. There’s a scene that demonstrates just that, when Beni is loading a significant amount of gold onto a camel and it refuses to budge when he instructs it to go. Apparently, the camels just didn’t care for Kevin J. O’Conner, and made it plainly obvious. Even if it wasn’t in the script, it made for more laughs, and suited Beni’s character in all his glory.

While The Mummy utilized its fair share of special effects, not everything was up to technological expertise. Sometimes brave actors have to be commended, like Rachel Weisz, for experiencing things in reality. Poor Weisz was faced with rats crawling all over her in one of the final scenes in The Mummy, and audiences assume her horrified reaction is less to do with acting and more to do with her genuine reaction. Audiences are still creeped out by this scene to this day; in regards to authenticity, the film nailed this scene.

Happy Birthday Rachel!

    1. Morning, Pat! I had the pleasure of seeing Frank Langello in Dracula at the Kennedy Center! Yep – a definite hunk!!! You should be happy to know that the snow has resumed here, too! I woke up at 5 am and looked outside to about 2″ of snow on the ground with more falling. Temp is at 34, so it is a very wet snow, w/possibly up to 5″ total, and the wind has now flipped to the east. Visibility in my neck of the woods is 5/10ths of a mile – thankfully, the wind is relatively low. Temps in the teens overnight but up to mid-40’s tomorrow and close to 60 on Sunday. LOL – this is insane – predicting a high of 70 by next Friday and only 41 on Saturday. Whiplash!!!

Noem Says ICE Leakers Have Been Identified and Are Facing Prosecution

Wednesday on FNC’s “Hannity,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed those within the Department of Homeland Security who were leaking Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) movements to potential illegal aliens facing possible deportation procedures had been identified and would be prosecuted…

“I have a couple of them identified that are within DHS,” Noem replied. “And when I’m able to reveal that with the evidence, I’m going to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law, and I’m going to make an example out of them. And just on the way here, I got another notification of another leak. And I can’t do anything without it getting leaked, and that’s why we have to have so many ops all over the country all the time that it doesn’t slow us down. So that’s one of the things when I was in New York City today, I said to so many of our law enforcement officers, I said, listen, we don’t have time to kiss each other’s asses.”

“We just don’t have time to sit around, and we have to do everything we can every single day because we might have another Laken Riley tomorrow and wish we would have pushed harder and wish we would have done more,” she continued. “So these leakers, boy, they better watch out because we are putting just as equal effort into identifying them as we are these criminals that are out there raping and murdering people. As far as I’m concerned, these leakers are more dangerous because it’s a complete disregard for our law enforcement officers that are out there.”

    1. Ah, yes! I am familiar with that storage complex – been there a time or two myself!

“The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, exposed a CIA black site in Springfield, Virginia, during a federal property sell-off initiative. The site, part of the Parr-Franconia Warehouse Complex, has been associated with CIA operations for decades and is located at 6810 Loisdale Road.

The General Services Administration (GSA) had listed the site for sale as part of DOGE’s broader effort to sell off hundreds of federal properties. The listing, which included ‘Building A, 6810,’ was quickly removed after concerns about the sensitive nature of the facility were raised.

The site is believed to be used for clandestine operations, including training technical officers in surveillance and infiltration techniques. Local officials, including Jeff McKay, have criticized the oversight, noting that the site’s presence has long hindered redevelopment plans in the area.

The GSA has acknowledged the sensitivity of the site, while the CIA has declined to comment. The incident has raised questions about coordination between DOGE and intelligence agencies, as well as the potential risks to national security.”

  4. the Office of Important Things…LOLOL

    Hokkoda
    March 7, 2025 8:35 am

Trump needs to sign an Executive Order called, “Creation of the office of important things”.

This will be a Federal building located in a remote area of Utah (I’m sure we have at least one there.). The building will be used to centrally house many Federal employees whose jobs in the executive branch have been deemed by the courts to be of such critical importance, that the President cannot himself fire the people appointed to faithfully carry out Presidential orders.

Then direct OPM to reassign these (and any other “very important” jobs to this new work location.

As for the building itself, do not authorize storage of classified data, issue standard analog phones, and do not install Wi-Fi.

Give them 30 days to appear on site, ban remote work, and deauthorize their travel budgets.

Oh, and one more thing: if the court says you can only fire them for poor performance, give them orders and if those orders are not carried out in 3 business days, fire them again. And again. And again. And again.

    Drain the bank accounts.

  6. “It’s been seven months. Why do you think we don’t know more about the guy who shot you in the ear?” Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Trump.

“Yeah, oh, well, and the second one with all of his cell phones,” Trump replied.

“So, I want to find the answers. I’ve told them, in fact, today, I said I want to find— we can no longer blame [former President Joe] Biden for that one. He should have released that a long time ago,” the president continued.

“So, they are giving me a report next week sometime, and I do believe I’ll be releasing— I want to release the report. A lot of people have asked that question,” Trump revealed.

“You had one who had three apps, two of which were foreign, supposedly, and who has the biggest white shoe law firm in Pennsylvania, even though they don’t live in necessarily, a white shoe area. What’s that all about?…The other one had seven or six cell phones, and I don’t have six cell phones. And why would somebody have six cell phones?” he wondered.

“So we’re going to be releasing a report on that soon, Peter,” Trump reiterated.

“Based on what you’re saying right there, the lack of information and the data points that you just gave, does that make you think that there’s some part of a, there’s some bigger?” Doocy asked.

“It could be. Well, it makes other people think that. It makes me think it a little bit too,” the president replied.

“I say, when you have three apps and two of them are foreign, and you had an FBI that wouldn’t report on it. They didn’t want to say why. I would say that could be suspicious,” he continued.

“And then on the second assassin you had, you know, and by the way, I have to say Secret Service, did a great job on that by spotting them. But on the second one, he had six cell phones. That’s a lot of cell phones, and a couple of them had some strange markings on them. So yeah, I want to find out, and I would be willing to release it,” Trump noted.

“I mean, maybe there’s a reason that we shouldn’t, so I don’t want to get too far ahead of my skis. But yeah, I would be very willing to release that. I’d like to see it. I want to see it myself. Not only you, I want to see that one myself,” he concluded.”

  7. This is apparently a new site started by The Daily Caller w/Bo Snerdley.

AmericaWireNews: “The November election saw several swing states go for President Donald Trump, and the effect may be spilling over into blue-state neighbors. According to conservative activist Scott Presler, one traditionally Democratic state in the Northeast is now “in play” for Republicans who may have a chance to make significant gains.

“Hear me loudly and clearly: New Jersey is in play,” Presler, who helped Trump turn Pennsylvania red in 2024, told “The Ingraham Angle” this week.

The founder of Early Vote Action believes the strategy of “Electing Republicans by registering Republicans” is working. “At EarlyVoteAction.com, we are employing a 21-county strategy,” Presler told Fox News host Laura Ingraham. “We’re not only going to Essex and Camden, but we’re going to Sussex and Warren, and even red areas to drive up the turnout and make sure that every voice is heard.”

“We’re going to have more funding than ever, we’re going to have more staffers than ever. The RNC is on board,” he continued. “To my beautiful people at home, New Jersey is in play.”

New Jersey’s Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy is term-limited and a crowded field of candidates has already emerged to replace him. Former Gov. Chris Christie, who served from 2010 to 2018, was the last Republican to hold the office in the Garden State.

“I am here to reach as many people as I can to get them registered, and to empower them to vote on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025,” Presler said. “I am so excited to be in the Garden State.”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris won New Jersey in 2024 with 52% of the vote compared to Trump’s 46%. But in a state where Democrats outnumbered Republicans and where they controlled every branch of government, the narrow gap between Trump and Harris was significant.

Trump lost New Jersey by 14 points in the 2016 race against Hillary Clinton and in 2020, he lost by 16 points to Joe Biden. But he closed the gap in 2024, to the surprise of many watching the solid Democratic state.”

  8. ENTIRE ARTICLE: “U.S. National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard said Thursday evening on Fox News that the CIA’s swamp is ‘worse’ than what she had expected.

Prior to Gabbard’s confirmation on Feb. 12, the CIA reportedly offered payouts to its entire workforce, with Trump administration officials telling The Wall Street Journal that the push was a signal to help those who oppose President Donald Trump’s agenda find other work. On ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ Fox host Laura Ingraham asked Gabbard “on a scale of one to 10,” how “swampy is the intel community?”

“I knew it was bad coming in. It’s worse than I thought in a lot of different ways. I’d love to come back and talk to you as we pull back the layers of getting rid of the weaponization within the intelligence community, the politicization and those who are frankly trying to shape intelligence according to their own view or their own agenda. Rather than just providing our policymakers and the president with that unbiased, accurate, timely intelligence that they need to make their decisions,” Gabbard said.

    (Video)

“This example that we just talked about, where the Biden administration released these known or suspected terrorists or those with links to ISIS terrorists back into our country, you look at the dereliction of duty of that. But you also recognize this is one form of that politicization, where the Biden administration was so afraid of being labeled Islamophobes, they took this pro-Islamist bent in endangering our own national security that we see in that example,” Gabbard added.

According to an August 2024 report from the House Judiciary Committee, between fiscal years 2021 and 2023, Border Patrol agents encountered over 250 illegal migrants on the terrorist watchlist along the southern border. Following the encounters, the Department of Homeland Security released an estimated 99 of those terrorists freely back into the U.S.

“But we’ve also seen with the pro-Hamas rallies on streets across the country and the riots. So we see now with President Trump, he and I and others in the national security team are focusing our resources back where they belong, on keeping the American people safe and getting rid of those who seek to do us harm,” Gabbard said.

Since Gabbard assumed her new position as director, the CIA has reportedly dismissed multiple Biden-era employees, according to The New York Times. With Trump continuing to push for cuts in government spending, the outlet reported that a batch of ‘probationary employees’ were cut.”

“[Secretary of State Marco] Rubio, [Special Envoy Steve] Witkoff, [national security advisor Mike] Waltz headed to Riyadh on Tuesday to meet with Ukrainians, including [Andriy] Yermak,” posted Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich.

The meeting follows talks with Russian diplomats in the same city that led to public denouncements from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who later travelled to Washington to sign a minerals deal.

That meeting ended in disaster and Zelensky was removed from the White House without signing the deal.

The explosion occurred just minutes after liftoff in Texas, but the rocket’s debris threatened parts of Florida. The FAA grounded flights into Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Orlando for possible space launch debris, according to Politico.

“During Starship’s ascent burn, the vehicle experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly and contact was lost. Our team immediately began coordination with safety officials to implement pre-planned contingency responses,” SpaceX posted on X, adding that it will review the data from the explosion.

Thursday’s incident marks the second time a SpaceX rocket exploded this year. The first was on Jan. 16, after which the FAA ordered SpaceX to conduct a mishap investigation.”

  11. Just The News: “The FBI on Thursday added a Canadian national and former Olympian to its Top 10 Most Wanted list, accusing him of operating “a transnational drug trafficking network.”

The fugitive, 43-year-old Ryan Wedding, competed in a snowboarding event for Canada during the 2002 winter Olympics.

Akil Davis, the assistant director in charge at Federal Bureau of Investigation in Los Angeles, said in a press conference that Wedding’s alleged trafficking ring frequently shipped hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico and to the U.S. and Canada, according to Fox News.

State Department is offering a reward of up to $10 million for the capture of Wedding, who is also being accused of murder. “Wedding went from shredding powder on the slopes at the Olympics to distributing powder cocaine on the streets of U.S. cities and in his native Canada,” Davis said in a statement.

“The alleged murders of his competitors make Wedding a very dangerous man, and his addition to the list of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, coupled with a major reward offer by the State Department, will make the public our partner so that we can catch up with him before he puts anyone else in danger.”

The FBI first issued an arrest warrant for Wedding last year. He was previously convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and sentenced to prison in the U.S. in 2010.

The FBI is also offering an additional $50,000 for information leading to his arrest.”

  12. Just The News: “The State Department is reportedly looking to reduce its global workforce and close some of its consulates, in the federal government’s latest efforts to trim its staff, department officials told several news outlets on Thursday.

The Trump administration has launched a widespread mission to cut wasteful spending, and improve government efficiency, which has also resulted in thousands of federal employees losing their jobs. The department is also expected to trim its workforce by firing many local citizens who work for its missions.

It is not clear how many embassies and consulates the department is looking to close, but one memo proposes closing a dozen consulates, primarily in Western Europe, sources told the New York Times. Those closures include consulates in Florence, Italy; Strasbourg, France; Hamburg, Germany; and Ponta Delgada, Portugal.

The department also notified two congressional committees of the planned closures last month, and department officials told the committees on Monday that they additionally plan to close a consulate in Gaziantep, Turkey.

“The State Department continues to assess our global posture to ensure we are best positioned to address modern challenges on behalf of the American people,” the agency said in a statement to the New York Times.

The efforts are part of a larger plan to reduce the department’s operating budget by up to 20%,  two U.S. officials said.”

  13. Just The News: “President Donald Trump on Thursday signed two proclamations, declaring March national Women’s History month, and Irish-American heritage month.

The president first signed the Women’s History month proclamation at the White House, where he told reporters he was “honored” to sign the declaration because “women have done a lot for us.”

“The First Lady and I honor American women from all generations and backgrounds who have been integral to our prosperity and productivity, and who have made an indelible mark on the soul and heartbeat of our nation,” the proclamation read.

“I am especially proud to acknowledge and celebrate the brilliant and talented female trailblazers in my Administration. They are leaders in business, experts in foreign and domestic policy, authorities in national security, great legal minds, as well as dedicated public servants who put the American people first.”

The Irish-American heritage month proclamation highlighted the legacy that Irish immigrants played in the country. It was also signed a couple weeks before St. Patrick’s Day, which will take place March 17.

“Irish Americans have played a crucial role in our great American story – courageously overcoming adversity and hardship to embolden our culture, enliven our spirit, and fortify our way of life,” the proclamation reads. “This Irish-American Heritage Month, we commemorate the special bond of friendship between the United States and Ireland – and we honor the extraordinary contributions of Irish-American citizens past and present.”

  15. LOL – great tongue-in-cheek article:

EXCERPT: “….Those were the Drone-Bots. Every large monolithic organization needs them. And the DNC’s got them in spades. They all think alike, they all vote alike, and they stick together no matter what. It’s politically effective for sure, but channeling lemmings is hardly a respectable practice. It should be noted here, and much to her credit, Laura Gillen (D-NY) did break ranks and joined the rest of the room in a standing ovation for the young man. She will be punished later.

Nancy-Bot, Skynet’s Nurture-Bot for her seemingly grandmotherly demeanor, was captured on video gritting her teeth and looking extremely dissatisfied at the president’s words. One can imagine, probably without fear of error, that if she had young DJ’s ear for a moment, she would very lovingly and carefully explain to him that while he is a cancer survivor of color, he must still understand that the pecking order favors others who suffer ahead of him. There are illegal aliens, there are gang members in whom the Spark of Jesus still burns brightly, and then the entire LBGTQ…….XYZ community, whose needs (and votes) must be delicately cultivated ahead of people like him.

So, while I admit this is a rant, I want to point out that there is something very serious here. And really, it’s just an awful thing to have to say. But I call these people Bots because they have surrendered their empathy. They have abdicated their humanity. They have thrown away their free will and their agency to serve some higher power that lives on a server in the Cloud. If you cannot, for one instance, stand up and give a child a standing ovation for having suffered through and then beaten Death simply because Donald Trump did it first, then you’ve lost your soul.

Sure, I know many of you will say, “Well, Duh. These people lost their souls in 1973.” But while I might agree, at least you could make the point that the unborn don’t have any self-awareness yet. I think by the age of 13, you probably have too much self-awareness. “Is my hair ok? Are my clothes in style? Does she like me or hate me?” I think that DJ probably noticed that half of the room maintained its stoicism. Probably hurt a little bit. Only some sort of automatonic robot could sit in that speech and fail to acknowledge and support a kid living with the specter of cancer simply because they hate Donald Trump more than they feel for him.

But they’re not programmed for that. And they’re not programmed to think freely. It seems that not one of them (save Gillen) thought, “Gee, I could get up and clap now and later say to my press agent that I support this young man’s struggle and heroism, but I criticize the president using him as a tool…” or something. But, no. The clones pretty much did what was expected of them, and it just blows my mind. And it makes me afraid of what comes after. If Skynet has this much power, what happens when we get AI-Skynet? In the words of Kyle Reese, It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop… ever…

    Not gonna be good.”

  16. “After I wrap up the Friday Funnies, we are off to Harper’s Ferry, WV to do a live show with Tim Pool and Del Bigtree, starting at 10:00 AM. The drive is a little over 1.5 hours and Jill is coming with me. I will post the link, as I am not sure what channel he does his live shows from.

Earlier in the week, I had a half-trained, older weanling colt break away from me when I was halter training him. After running all over the farm, he managed to cut through the one area not fenced, run about a half mile along our mare pasture, up to the neighbors gate and onto the main road. From there, all hell broke loose. Two hours of stalking him later, we finally managed to catch him (sort of).

By this time, we were all exhausted and still had to get him to back to the farm. But he was frightened out of his mind and unable to calm down enough to even be walking. During all of this, I managed to break my foot. Or perhaps I should say he managed to break my foot. Without going into too many details, getting back out onto the main road, then walking on that road back to the farm, was extremely trying. If the police had shown up, most likely they would have euthanized him. A big animal with flight instincts on the road is a danger to everyone. In all our time working with horses, having a horse get out on the road was a first – and it was dangerous. This little guy is a sweet thing, but when young horses panic, when they lose their “herd”, everything soon goes “to hell in a handbasket.” So, we needed to act quickly and efficiently.

My foot was clearly broken – with extreme swelling, but still the job had to be done. So I shut my mouth and didn’t say anything to Jill until we had the guy safely tucked back into a stall.

Back to my mangled foot. It isn’t an ankle break, so not much to be done other elevation, rest and a “stiff” boot. As well as getting a few pain pills (ibuprophen, in my case) Jill quickly purchased an ortho boot from Amazon, which run about fifty bucks. From past experience with Jill getting broken ankles, we know that getting the same boot at the ER runs about $400. Yes, I do have medicare – but I wasn’t going to spend four hours in the ER for them to diagnose a broken foot and slap on a boot – with a $2000. price tag for emergency services and $400 for an overpriced plastic “boot.” Charged to Uncle Sam for services rendered under medicare.

So, for the past four days, I have been hobbling around the farm – it is pretty darn painful, but I will live.

Now, that I have whinged to all of you about my troubles this week, we are off to Tim Pool’s place for the broadcast!

Oh yeah, and we did finally break down and buy two Amish-made bird feeders from Etsy. Not made in China. How refreshing!”

  17. “RIP to Australia’s “Man with the Golden Arm,” whose donated blood and plasma saved over 2 million babies”

Not The Bee, Harris Rigby, Mar 6, 2025

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Talk about a life well lived. Known as “The Man with the Golden Arm,” James Harrison of Australia passed away recently at the age of 88.

Harrison’s blood contained a very rare antibody called Anti-D and the man donated blood and plasma over 1,100 times in his life. His blood and plasma saved 2 million lives internationally through the Red Cross.

    From Australia’s Red Cross Lifeblood:

James’s plasma contained the rare and precious antibody, Anti-D, which is used to make the life-saving medication given to mothers whose blood is at risk of attacking their unborn babies …

When a mother with Rh (D) negative blood is pregnant with a baby that has Rh (D) positive blood, there’s a risk her immune system will create antibodies that can attack the red blood cells of their next Rh(D) positive baby.

Anti-D immunoglobulin injections can help women from developing these potentially harmful antibodies.

James received no financial compensation for his many donations. All he cared about was how many babies he was able to help with this rare gift.

Harrison himself received a lifesaving transfusion at the age of 14 and since he became old enough decided he wanted to give back. And once he realized how special his blood and plasma were he never stopped giving.

Mellowship [Harrison’s daughter] added, ‘He was also very proud to have saved to many lives, without any cost or pain. It made him happy to hear about the many families like our, who existed because of his kindness.’

‘James was a remarkable, stoically kind, and generous person who was committed to a lifetime of giving and he captured the hearts of many people around the world,”‘Stephen Cornelissen, the CEO for Lifeblood said in a statement.

Due to health reasons, Harrison had to make his last donation in 2018.

Rest in peace to a good man.”

NF: Apparently, women wearing neckties is the latest “thing” in fashion! Who knew?!? But she certainly does it well, as she does everything!

EXCERPT: “……Of course, menswear — and particularly neckties — can be challenging to pull off without looking like a lesbian or a prep school co-ed. In Melania’s case, her neckwear was more of a hybrid between a tie and a twilly silk scarf, far from the wide, red, Windsor-knotted ties that are her husband’s signature. That, combined with the feminine cut and soft color of her Ralph Lauren suit, made it work in a way that wasn’t too costumey.

She’s worn an identical-looking tie before, including in this legendary ensemble:

…..Pulling off such an ensemble successfully requires understanding the differences between the masculine and feminine, and letting those differences complement each other instead of pitting them against each other.

Maybe society should try that with real men and women sometime!”

  19. “The groups, which are seeking funding for projects that support art about or are made by transgender and non-binary people, say they have in effect been unconstitutionally blocked from receiving grants from the agency that was built to promote artistic excellence, despite having received funds for similar projects in the past.

“Because they seek to affirm transgender and non-binary identities and experiences in the projects for which they seek funding, plaintiffs are effectively barred by the ‘gender ideology’ certification and prohibition from receiving NEA grants on artistic merit and excellence grounds,” says the lawsuit, filed on Thursday.

These groups, which are primarily funded with Federal grants, are using our money to sue us. They’ll always ‘judge-shop’ the suits to jurisdictions with liberal judges, and the lawyers take the cases to fulfill their Andy Warhol spotlight dreams. They all get overturned eventually, and the only one that really loses is us. Go figure…”

    1. i thought i read yesterday (i think) that PDJT or someone in Congress (can’t honestly say which) was trying to change the guidelines for such cases–whereas the person bringing the suit HAS to file a bond in order to do so. this way, they can’t be frivolous, and the litigant has much to lose for nuisance suits.

  21. NF: Same for me!!! (but no jacket/ties or uniforms)

This is the America I grew up in in the 50’s and 60’s. That could have been my classroom but for the fact that we had to wear a jacket and tie every day and the girls all wore uniforms. Seems like it’s a million years ago when you look at schools today…

NF: This one kinda has me baffled….huh?

  24. “Trump Secures Peace Deal Where Putin Gets Ukraine During The Week While Zelenskyy Gets Weekends And Two Weeks In The Summer”

    Politics · Mar 7, 2025 · BabylonBee.com

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In another unorthodox move highlighting his ability to think outside the box, President Donald Trump announced that he had secured a peace deal where Putin gets Ukraine on the weekdays while Zelenskyy gets Ukraine on the weekends and for two weeks during the summer.

The new deal came after years of brutal fighting and weeks of contentious Trump-brokered negotiations between Russia and Ukraine that had appeared to reach a stalemate.

“We brought both sides to the table and all parties have to a give and take,” said President Trump. “Putin gets Ukraine Monday through Friday, Zelenskyy gets weekends. And to make everything fair, Zelenskyy can get two weeks in the summer for a camping trip or any other family time he wants to do with Ukraine. It’s a great deal. Everyone is happy.”

White House sources hailed the settlement as a perfect accommodation for both sides.

“Look, these custody things happen all the time,” Trump continued. “I’ve had two divorces myself and they always get settled like this. You have to share.”

Foreign policy experts tried to explain to Trump that an entire country with millions of citizens and vast strategic resources caught up in a complex geopolitical rivalry between NATO and Russia was nothing like a custody case in a divorce settlement, but Trump stumped the experts by replying, “Why not?”

At publishing time, sources said Ukraine would have the right to choose whether it wanted to live with Putin or Zelensky once it got old enough.

  25. “Laid-Off IRS Agent Gets New Job Checking Receipts At Costco Exit”

    U.S. · Mar 7, 2025 · BabylonBee.com

SPRINGFIELD, VA — According to sources, recently laid-off IRS Agent Dirk Peasley has landed on his feet with a brand-new gig as one of those Costco guys who stand at the door and check people’s receipts before they’re allowed to leave.

“This job allows me to keep doing exactly what I love,” said Peasley to reporters after checking their receipts. “All day I get to peer into people’s private financial information and audit their every expenditure before they leave the building. If there are any discrepancies, I can yell at them and call the police. It’s such a great job.”

Peasley then ran to chase down an old woman who appeared to have five items in her cart when her receipt only contained four.

Experts have said the majority of laid-off IRS agents are finding gainful employment in compatible careers, such as HOA directors, TSA screeners, and those Chipotle employees who put barely any guac on your burrito bowl.

At publishing time, Peasley had been fired by Costco for demanding cash tips in exchange for being allowed to leave the store.

  26. “Doctor Says He’ll Be Able To Make Better Diagnosis Once He Reviews Scan Of Your Insurance Benefits”

    Health · Mar 7, 2025 · BabylonBee.com

PEKIN, IL — Utilizing the full breadth of his medical expertise, Dr. Paul Winthrop told his patient, 54-year-old Todd Miller, that he would be able to make a better diagnosis once he reviewed his insurance benefits.

Miller, who was rushed to the ER after experiencing discomfort from being stabbed in the stomach, was taken aback by his doctor’s detailed approach.

“I would have thought my problem was obvious, but I’m obviously not the doctor here,” Miller said as he lay bleeding on a stretcher.

According to sources, Dr. Winthrop is among the most respected physicians on staff at Pekin Memorial Hospital. But he’s not ready to jump the gun just because it looks like a patient has a knife sticking out of his abdomen.

“It’s common for patients to self-diagnose,” explained Dr. Winthrop, “but I only care about the facts. What’s your copay? Are there any coverage limits? Are you on medical or private insurance?”

“Without this information, that hole in your stomach won’t treat itself.”

Medical experts agree with Dr. Winthrop’s approach. They say there’s no way of knowing if a patient has cancer, a broken kneecap, or is simply stressed out — unless they take time to review their insurance policy in detail.

“Sometimes I spend hours looking over insurance. We don’t really review medical journals anymore,” Dr. Winthrop said.

At publishing time, upon review of his insurance coverage, Todd Miller was diagnosed with hyperlipidemia, also known as high cholesterol.
