    1. Morning, Pat! One of the drawbacks of living high in the mountains, I expect. I woke up to a temp of 30!!!! Melt, melt, melt…..by tomorrow when I make my run to Norfolk, most of it should be gone. Yeah! Then we prepare for the REAL deep freeze this weekend! Single digit highs for several days before heading back up again, thankfully.

      1. Morning Filly!
        you’re so lucky!!
we have 8* again. we got a 40 lb bag of the sunflower seeds last night–i struggled to get it into the dang cart…LOL
but this morning, the birds are loving it–no fights, no one bird taking over the feeders–everybody grabs a seed and leaves.
I should have asked you first what seed to buy!

        1. Hey, I’ll be looking at highs in the single digits this week-end! What goes around, comes around! I’m glad the seed-feeding has worked out. Trial & error, my friend! That’s how things get done! LOL

              1. It is sweet, I gotta admit. And, even tho Sat/Sun highs will be 8+/-, it will be up above freezing during the day for the next week or so…..supposedly. We’ll see!

  1. wow…this was from Rubio?

    @JerryDunleavy

The opening statement given by Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio just now eviscerates decades of failed U.S. foreign policy: “Out of the triumphalism of the end of the long Cold War emerged a bipartisan consensus, and this consensus was that we had reached ‘the end of history.’ That all the nations of earth would become members of the democratic Western-led community. That a foreign policy that served the national interest could now be replaced by one that served the ‘liberal world order.’ And that all mankind was now destined to abandon national sovereignty and national identity, and we would become ‘one human family’ and ‘citizens of the world.’ This wasn’t just a fantasy — we now know it was a dangerous delusion.

Here in America, and in many of the advanced economies across the world, an almost religious commitment to free and unfettered trade at the expense of our national economy shrunk the middle class, left the working class in crisis, collapsed our industrial capacity, and has pushed critical supply chains into the hands of adversaries and of rivals. An irrational zeal for maximum freedom of movement of people has resulted in a historic mass migration crisis here in America but also around the world — it’s one that threatens the stability of societies and governments. Across the West, governments now censor and even prosecute domestic political opponents. Meanwhile radical jihadists openly march in the streets and sadly drive vehicles into our people.

While America far too often prioritized the ‘global order’ above our core national interests, other nations continued to act the way countries always have and always will — in what they perceive to be in their best interest. And instead of folding into the post-Cold War global order, they have manipulated it to serve their interests at the expense of ours. We welcomed the Chinese Communist Party into the global order, and they took advantage of all its benefits, and they ignored all its obligations and responsibilities. Instead, they have repressed, and lied, and cheated, and hacked, and stolen their way to global superpower status, and they have done so at our expense and at the expense of their own country.

In our very own hemisphere, despots and narco-terrorists take advantage of open borders to drive mass migration, to traffic women and children, and to flood our communities with fentanyl and violent criminals. In Moscow, Tehran, and Pyongyang, dictators — rogue states — now sow chaos and instability and align with and they fund radical terror groups, and then hide behind their veto power at the United Nations Security Council and the threat of nuclear war. The postwar global order is not just obsolete — it is now a weapon being used against us. And all this has led to a moment in which we must now confront the single greatest risk of geopolitical instability and of generational global crisis in the lifetime of anyone alive today.”

In yet another capitulation to Islamic demands, Berlin municipal authorities have agreed to implement men-only swimming hours in public pools to accommodate Muslim patrons who insist women have no place swimming alongside men. This isn’t surprising—Western cities with significant Muslim populations frequently face such demands—but the speed at which Berlin caved is staggering.

I decided early in my adult life NEVER to be dependent on anyone else for transportation. Which is why my truck not being in good running order bothers me so much.

  3. Billionaires and CEOs Have a Choice to Make: Attend Trump’s Inauguration or the First Day of Davos

It’s a scheduling conflict most of us will never know. Some of the world’s wealthiest and most powerful people are staring down a decision as the first major events of the billionaire social calendar this year overlap.

President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20 coincides with the first day of Davos, an annual gathering of the world’s business and politics elite in Davos, Switzerland, held by the World Economic Forum.

Those invited to both must now decide: Do they miss potential face time with the incoming president and members of his inner circle or skip a day of networking with political leaders and business titans from around the globe?

  4. German Opposition Leader Adapts Trump MAGA Slogan

Alice Weidel, a co-leader of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has apparently adapted US President-elect Donald Trump’s MAGA (‘Make America Great Again’) slogan, but for her own continent. The politician has called to ‘Make Europe Great Again’ in a post on X on Wednesday.

Weidel was responding to a post drawing parallels between her party’s program and policies advocated by Trump and US-based tech billionaire Elon Musk. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO, who also owns X, has endorsed AfD and interviewed Weidel live on his platform last week.

During the interview, the German politician described AfD as a “libertarian conservative party” that is seeking to reduce bureaucracy and “free the people from the state.” Musk also repeatedly stated that “only AfD can save Germany” ahead of the 2025 snap parliamentary election in the EU nation scheduled for late February. — RT

Our Take: I’ve said since 2020, MAGA is a global movement. The people around the world have been pushing to make their nations great again since Trump’s first term. People are breaking free of the globalist programming and demanding their governments put their national interests first.

This is good — but Europe is not a nation. To make Europe great again, you need to make the European nations great again, stripping the European Union of much of its power. Bring on the Sovereign World. — Ashe in America

Trump Transition Puts Up Guardrails Around Rfk Jr.

Just months after Donald Trump promised to let Robert F. Kennedy Jr. “go wild” on health care as a member of his Cabinet, some of the president-elect’s advisers are quietly trying to box him in. Transition officials plan to install several longtime GOP allies in senior roles across the health department, filling out key parts of Kennedy’s leadership team well before he could be confirmed as Health and Human Services secretary.

The push aims to surround Kennedy with conservative policymakers who can compensate for his lack of government experience and MAGA credentials — while also ensuring the White House can keep close tabs on an HHS nominee who many Trump aides still don’t fully trust, said a half-dozen Republicans familiar with the transition’s activities, who were granted anonymity to discuss private deliberations. — Politico

  8. gees Filly…we might wanna rethink Ireland…

    Clarion

    January 16, 2025 9:34 am

    Here’s the scenario :

You live in rural Ireland, one of the most peaceful places on planet Earth. It’s so quiet, you can hear the birds chirp.

You know all your neighbours, many are family members. It’s a tight-knit community.

One day, the government announced that they would open a migrant camp in your village and fill it with strange foreign men.

State forces arrive, push you aside, and bully you in your own home. They erect walls and create a military like compound with CCTV pointing at you, not the migrants.

Then the roads are blocked and you can no longer access parts of your village you frequented for decades.

In the end, you’re left terrified and anxious, with hundreds of migrants wandering around your community calling you racist and acting like it’s their home now.

    This is reality in Ireland.

  9. “Biden Caps Off Four Disastrous Years with Farewell Address Fraught with Outright Political Projection

ANALYSIS: Joe Biden’s farewell address was constructed with one lie after another in rising to some of the most egregious and outright political projection ever captured on video.”

    Political Moonshine, Jan 16, 2025

EXCERPT: “After four years of abject hell otherwise identified as Marxism run amok in Amerika, a stammering, stuttering and feeble old man said goodbye last evening and Joe Biden did not disappoint on his way out the door of the house he’s burning down on his exit. Joe Biden’s farewell address was constructed with one lie after another in rising to some of the most egregious and outright political projection ever captured on video.

The following analysis on Biden’s address is reproduced from a post on Xwitter and it includes a worthy video of Victor Davis Hanson’s synopsis.

BIDEN FAREWELL ADDRESS: @VDHanson provides a perfect synopsis of Biden’s pitiful & duplicitous farewell speech that came off as a list of things Biden’s administration actually did but which will be attributed to @realDonaldTrump .

Noted in real time last night, the following Biden remarks stood out & are translated for meaning.

To introduce his remarks, the first notable observation was the degree to which Biden repeatedly talked about defending our “democracy,” which is the vernacular & antithetical cover story for everything his Marxist regime did to destroy it. It represented a recurring pattern in the illegitimate #46 and we’ve examined it in the analysis for his entire term.

    Biden’s other notable remarks:…..”

Moody is a staunch Trump ally who has filed multiple suits in defense of Trump and is currently working to hold accountable the Palm Beach would-be assa*sin.

Moody has also sued FEMA for discriminating against Trump supporters’ homes recently after hurricane damage. And she joined a coalition of states backing his border security plan leading up to his inauguration.

  11. Just The News: “The House on Thursday passed legislation that would allow illegal migrants who committed domestic violence or found guilty of sex crimes to be deported.

The “Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act” passed with 213 Republicans and 61 Democrats supporting it. Fifteen members of the House were not present for the vote, and 145 Democrats voted against it.

“Our bill just PASSED this morning,” the bill’s sponsor Nancy Mace, R-S.C., wrote on the social media platform, X. “Not tired of winning yet.”

Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk slammed the Democrats who voted against the legislation. “Unconscionable that 145 elected representatives voted AGAINST deporting illegal migrant rapists!” Musk wrote on social media.

It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California. They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!

  13. EXCERPT: “The truce between Israel and Hamas announced yesterday (BREAKING: Israel, Hamas Agree on Ceasefire, Hostage Deal) shows signs of unraveling because of last-minute Hamas demands, some of which contradict the negotiated terms.

“Hamas reneges on parts of the agreement reached with the mediators and Israel in an effort to extort last-minute concessions,” a statement read, explaining delays in convening the Cabinet, which was scheduled to meet on Thursday at 11 a.m. “The Israeli cabinet will not convene until the mediators notify Israel that Hamas has accepted all elements of the agreement.

A key element has been a Hamas demand that they select which prisoners are freed by Israel in what order. They are also demanding the release of prisoners, which Israel explicitly refused to consider.

Hamas is demanding the release of prisoners serving life sentences, whom Israel has vetoed as part of ongoing negotiations. Among those Israel refuses to release are former Tanzim leader Marwan Barghouti, serving five life sentences, and the killers of a Jewish family in a 2011 attack, whose release Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokesperson, Omer Dostri, denied would be included in the deal.

This is the basic scope of the agreement…..”

    1. I agree with this 100%!!!

“Even though both Trump and Biden were touting the ceasefire, the deal is a horrible one for everyone except Hamas. Hamas gets a couple of thousand terrorists back; they get the pressure off, and, according to some sources, the US has agreed to be a significant underwriter to the “rebuild Gaza” effort. It also gets to declare victory because the imagery coming out of this travesty will be that of released terrorists and retreating IDF forces. Worse than that, Hamas treats the October 7 massacre as a victory and promises to do it again.

Israel gets a temporary ceasefire and the opportunity to do it all over again in a few years.”

American Flag with Sun over Mountains

“The problem with America’s ruling class isn’t just its arrogance, the curious belief — indeed, certainty — that it has the right to dictate to Americans how we will live and work, what we will eat, how we will treat ourselves for sickness, and how much it will all cost. No, add to all that the fact that the U.S. elite is corrupt and incompetent and dumb. And all three were on display this week in our nation’s capital.

If you were watching the confirmation hearings this week for key members of Donald Trump’s cabinet  — Pete Hegseth (Defense Secretary), Pam Bondi (Attorney General), John Ratcliffe (CIA Director) — you know what’s at stake. Will America be a country that lives up to the blessings bestowed on it by our Creator? Or will the current ruling elites drag us down with them to the depths of a hell they designed to reflect their vanity and depravity?

There used to be a time when Senators from both sides agreed that, with a few glaring exceptions, the President was generally entitled to get the cabinet he wanted. After all, the electorate chose the commander-in-chief to implement the policies he campaigned on, and he picked his staff to help get the job done.

That changed in the 1980s and 1990s, thanks in part to the outgoing president who, as the Senator from Delaware, hounded Supreme Court nominee and now Associate Justice Clarence Thomas. Since then, both parties and Democrats especially, have used confirmation hearings to grill the President from the opposing party’s nominees, to hurt the incoming administration, promote their own causes, and showcase their own probing brilliance.

Never before have Senators assembled in one place as they did this week to give evidence that they are unworthy of their constitutionally mandated role to advise and consent.

Democrats badgered Hegseth over his statements on women in combat. “Yes,” Hegseth replied, “women will have access to ground combat roles, given the standards remain high, and we will have a review to ensure the standards have not been eroded.”

What about LGBT troops, asked Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono, “If confirmed,” she asked, “will you commit to defend, not denigrate our troops?”

Throughout, Hegseth remained unruffled. His point, after all, is that the military has to abide by its standards. An institution tasked with the mission to bear arms to defend America can’t afford to put women and LGBT soldiers, nor even men, on the field of battle if they can’t meet basic standards of fitness. That’s reality. It may be convenient for progressives to imagine that the purpose of the Pentagon is to ensure “equity,” but that fantasy is certain to lead to defeat and death.

The greedy, self-serving nonsense days and sheer incompetence must come to an end. And that’s why Donald Trump was elected in November — to save America from the foolish ways of our deracinated elites and ground our nation once more in the truth. May God Bless President Trump as he retakes the White House on Monday, Inauguration Day.”

    Rudy is saved!

    https://nypost.com/2025/01/16/us-news/rudy-giuliani-reaches-deal-to-dodge-trial-over-florida-condo-yankees-world-series-rings/

FTA: “Rudy Giuliani will get back his $5 million Upper East Side high-rise, vintage Mercedes, Yankees memorabilia and other prized possessions as part of a stunning deal reached Thursday with two Georgia election workers he defamed.

Negotiations in the long-winded case ratcheted up on Monday, a day after President-elect Trump posted “SAVE RUDY!!!” on Truth Social sending a flurry of donations to Giuliani’s fundraiser.

“Negotiations over the last 72 hours have been very extensive, going past midnight on most nights,” Giuliani’s lawyer, Joseph Cammarrata, told reporters outside court.

In the days following Trump’s public show of support, Giuliani’s online defense fund raised $169,000 — a far cry, however, from the $148 million he owed to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, the two workers he was found liable of defaming.

Cammarrata refused to answer when asked whether anyone had stepped up to help Giuliani pay the settlement sum.
“I’m not going to answer that question, it’s irrelevant,” he claimed.

The deal allows Giuliani, 80, to hang onto all of his property in exchange for an undisclosed amount of “compensation,” the women said in a statement released by their lawyers.”

I am so happy for him! He gets to keep all of his worldly goods 😀
