What Women Want

Today is Mel Gibson’s birthday (born in 1956) so I wanted to discuss one of my favorite Mel Gibson movies—What Women Want.  He plays a sexist—very sexist—ad man who gets “electrified” and as a result he can HEAR what women THINK.  Hilarity ensues.

From: Mirror:

The film was released in 2000 and tells the story of sexist ad exec Nick who has an accident while trying to get into the mind of a woman and ends up being able to hear what every female can think. Helen Hunt also stars in the movie as Darcy Maguire, who is originally Nick’s rival when she gets the job he wanted, but the pair end up falling madly in love. The movie was originally titled Head Games and was pitched to Touchstone Pictures in 1996.

Here are five more things you didn’t know about the film:

There was a Chinese remake

The original film saw Mel Gibson nominated for a Golden Globe but the Chinese remake wasn’t as successful. It was directed by Chen Daming starring Andy Lau and Gong Li and was released in 2011. Bizarre. The plot takes place mostly in an advertising company in Beijing, in which Lau plays a slick ad agency creative director who gets acquainted with his new talented competition, played by Gong.

Mel wasn’t bothered about wearing tights

Mel wasn’t too bothered about having to wear tights because he used to wear them every day in drama school. Talking about breaking the macho stereotype, he said: “Break all the conventions and establish different ones. It wasn’t uncomfortable at all. It was great. I like going in to different styles of acting and exploring stuff I haven’t done before.”

The kissing scenes took AGES

Helen Hunt revealed they had a day and a half of kissing for the movie. Which would be most women’s dream. She said: “I mean 9 o’clock in the morning to 8 o’clock in the evening and through the next morning. “It was honestly dizzying how much we kissed. No air. So at around 5 o’clock on the first day, I asked Mel’s makeup people to shave him a little because my face was getting chewed up from his stubble. “So he showed up on the set with 25 toilet paper marks with fake blood on them!”

Continuity mistake

When Mel tries on the pantyhose in his bathroom, the hole in the left leg changes in different cuts of the movie. It is originally a large hole on the outside of his leg with a small ladder and on a different shot ends up being on the inside of his leg.

Nike reps in the film

One of the most clever scenes in the film is when Nick delivers his presentation to win a Nike Women campaign. He wins them over and can hear them praising his ideas, which were actually stolen from Darcy. We bet you didn’t know that the three female Nike representatives are in fact the real Nike ad representatives and not actresses.

    1. Morning, Pat! I pulled up the article but I’m not seeing any pictures of him in tights….have you ever seen his movie “Bird On A Wire?” w/ Goldie Hahn – great movie and definitely funny, of course!

Down to 18 this morning and headed into negative #’s in the next few days but not quite as low as predicted; we got 1-2 additional inches of snow overnight, w/more to come. The heaviest snow will be to the south and east, thankfully, but that means my Sis will get hit hard (near the KS border). Wheezer showed up early this morning and is now curled up on the chair. Hmmmm….I hope they get Johnson installed today and we can get on with Trump’s program!

      1. Morning Filly!
maybe it’s gone. I bookmarked that article last year…maybe that was the problem.
we have about 4 inches of snow and it’s flurrying now but it’s light and fluffy–so easy to shovel.
the headlines don’t look good for johnson. he can’t afford to miss a single vote and Massie refuses to vote for him. looks like he’s doomed. and so the repubs shoot themselves in the foot again. they don’t know how to lead.

        1. Let’s wait and see what happens. I can’t think that Massie would want that on his record. I’m thinking it’s a negotiating ploy, perhaps?

EXCLUSIVE: FDA lab uncovers excess DNA contamination in COVID-19 vaccinesExplosive revelations as a study conducted at FDA’s own lab found residual DNA levels exceeded safety limits by 6 to 470 times. Experts say it’s a ‘smoking gun.’Maryanne Demasi, PhDJan 02, 2025

    https://blog.maryannedemasi.com/cp/154023933

    Conclusion:

Now that DNA contamination of the mRNA vaccines has been verified in the laboratory of an official agency and published in a peer-reviewed journal, it becomes difficult to ignore.

It also places vaccine manufacturers and regulators in a precarious position.

Addressing the contamination issue would likely require revising manufacturing processes to remove residual DNA, which Prof Petrovsky explained would be impractical.

“The only practical solution is for regulators to require manufacturers to demonstrate that the plasmid DNA levels in the vaccines are safe,” Prof Petrovsky stated.

“Otherwise, efforts to remove the residual DNA would result in an entirely new vaccine, requiring new trials and effectively restarting the process with an untested product.”

Now the onus is on regulators to provide clarity and take decisive action to restore confidence in their oversight. Anything less risks deepening the scepticism of the public.

I guess the FJB Administration didn’t get the memo…they lost. Renaming their government censorship agency won’t work.

“SHOCKER: State Department Calls Its Banned Censorship Group Something New and Continues With Business”
    Excerpts:

The State Department has informed Congress of its intention to recreate its now-abolished Global Engagement Center as a “hub” within the agency focusing on countering foreign influence. The move rebrands the 50-plus staffers and tens of millions of dollars in funding that were assigned to the Global Engagement Center, even though its authorization to operate ceased at midnight on December 23; see The State Department’s Domestic Censorship Group Goes Out of Business at Midnight but the Danger Remains.

In the congressional notification, the State Department identified the newly planned body as a “Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference Hub” that will report to the agency’s Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy. AD

“Should the authority for the GEC not be extended, the department plans to realign 51 employees and associated funding from the GEC to a proposed Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (R/FIMI) Hub reporting to the Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy (R),” the congressional notification said, noting that remaining GEC employees and funding would go to the Bureaus of African Affairs, East Asian and Pacific Affairs, European and Eurasian Affairs, and other offices.

The documents said that the GEC would be transferring 51 employees to the R/FIMI office and, as a whole, $29.4 million in total funding.

  4. My Sis called me last night in tears and believe me, she does NOT cry often. I’ve mentioned before how she babysat for most of the kids in her small town and drove the school bus – many of them consider her to be their second “Mom.” She has kept in touch on almost a daily basis with many of them. One of her charges, a REALLY sweet, kind boy named William is now sitting in jail, charged with child abuse. It’s a truly horrible story and there is NO way in hell that boy hurt his own child! $50K retainer required for an attorney!!!

He was dating this gal from KS – her Dad is a big beer company guy and very hoity-toity who never thought William was “good enough” – and when she got pregnant, William did the right thing (telling Sis “that’s my child”) and married her. Apparently they were living in KS and he came up to NE to work every day. The baby was 3 months old – he went to check on her and she wasn’t breathing. The baby’s Mom wrapped her up in a blanket and headed for the hospital – she must have called her Father because he was already there waiting and tried to prevent William and his family from even ENTERING the hospital. He got quite vicious, pounding on doors, physically attacking him, and causing all kinds of havoc.

3 months is a prime age for SIDs. Clearly, if this was abuse, the autopsy would verify that. But, in the meantime, poor William sits in jail w/no prospects for an attorney any time soon – at least he is in a NE jail. If only I had the $$$, I’d hire an attorney for him in a nanosecond. He is a truly sweet, loving guy! She was caring for him during the brief time I stayed with her when I returned to NE in 2009 and I remember him specifically: quiet, well-mannered and very loving.

  5. “FBI Releases New Information About Pipe Bomb Suspect to Encourage Additional Tips From the Public”

    https://x.com/FBIWFO/status/1874958901956739091

EXCERPT: “Citing an alleged renewed interest from the public, the FBI Thursday evening published “previously unreleased video” of the January 6th ‘pipe bomb’ suspect placing one device outside the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

It is almost four years after the incident. And the FBI released a new video to the public in an attempt to identify the suspect.

“As part of a renewed call for tips from the public, the FBI posted on its Seeking Information webpage previously unreleased video of the suspect placing one of the bombs near the DNC and announced that it estimates the suspect to be approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall,” the bureau writes. “A reward of up to $500,000 is available for information leading to the individual’s arrest and conviction.”

The video shows the suspect, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt as seen in other videos, fidgeting on a park bench outside the DNC before shifting towards the bushes and planting the device…..”

“…..Odd that they’re releasing this data while there are two ongoing terrorist investigations, one involving an ISIS-inspired killer who had been radicalized and posted multiple videos of his ill intentions on social media, discussing plans to kill his family and having dreams that helped inspire him to join the terror group, that the FBI somehow missed.

Almost like they’re trying to divert your attention….”

“….As you might imagine, X users were not impressed with the FBI releasing a new video of the January 6th pipe bomb suspect after years of essentially ignoring the pursuit in favor of jailing people who walked through the Capitol and took selfies.

“Your entire agency is a joke,” Sean Davis of The Federalist writes.

“Really strange how y’all were able to identify 1500 people who even so much as walked on the Capital grounds on January 6th, but you can’t find the person who planted the pipe bomb?” one disgusted person replied. “No one’s buying it.”……”

    1. I would not deal with the FBI except through a lawyer and would never give them a tip in person. That would be a first step toward being ‘silenced’ permanently.

I would not give any evidence over to the FBI either – I’d give it to an investigative journalist or a group of them….anonymously….copies only.

  7. Entire Article @ RedState: “In the wake of Wednesday’s terror attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, the wise decision was made to postpone the Sugar Bowl from Wednesday to Thursday. It was in part a practical decision, as federal, state and local law enforcement closed down large parts of the town in order to investigate the crime that ended with 15 people dead; officials also needed time to determine if there were any remaining threats lurking on the streets of the Big Easy.

Delaying the game by a day was also a humane and necessary decision, as it gave the town a chance to take a breath and start the long process of coming to terms with a terrorist attack taking place on its soil just as it was gearing up for it annual Mardi Gras bacchanalia.

New Orleans has faced tough times before, but even they needed that grace period to take in what happened on Bourbon Street. In the wake of such tragedies, people often come together in unexpected ways as they help each other heal.

Healing is exactly what New Orleans needed, but instead they—and the entire U.S.—got a lecture from Tom Wilson, CEO of Allstate, sponsor of the Sugar Bowl. Instead of kicking off the game with words of healing, Wilson chose to get on his DEI-soaked soap box and lectured the country about its “addiction to divisiveness.”

“Turned on the Notre Dame – Georgia game for it to start with this ridiculous propaganda from @Allstate on yesterday’s terrorist attack: “We need to overcome an addiction to divisiveness and negativity… & accept people’s imperfections and differences”??!!! You’re JOKING.”

Here’s the transcript. Prepare to be irate and cancel your Allstate insurance plan.

Welcome to the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Wednesday, tragedy struck the New Orleans community. Our prayers are with the victims and their families.

We also need to be stronger together by overcoming an addiction to divisiveness and negativity.

Join Allstate, working in local communities all across America, working to amplify the positive, increase trust and accept people’s imperfections and differences. Together, we win.

Way to excuse evil and blame the victims, Tom. This is, at best, a colossal failure to read the room, and, at worst, what we might call “sympathy for the devil.” Mr. Wilson has made it clear where his and his company’s loyalties lie, and it’s not with the American people.

In case it’s not crystal clear, what Tom Wilson and Allstate are saying is that we darned Americans made that ISIS-loving jihadist lunatic drive a truck into a crowd of revelers because we didn’t accept the terrorist’s “imperfections.” It’s because we’re all bigots that this terrorist attack happened.

Can you imagine how the victims and the families of the murdered must feel when they hear this man make excuses for the heinous happening of Wednesday morning? Instead of offering comforting words, he took a cheap shot at those who are already suffering and disguised it as a call to unity.

Who does that kind of thing? It’s certainly an interesting way to run a business.

“Accepting people’s imperfections and differences” is just corporate DEI drivel. We’ve been too accepting of others and their inability to function in a civilized society—that’s why yesterday’s terrorist attack happened. While Wilson seems self-satisfied with his “kumbaya” moment, he comes off as nothing more than a terrorist sympathizer.

I took the liberty of rewriting Mr. Wilson’s screed.

Welcome to the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Wednesday, tragedy struck the New Orleans community. Our prayers are with the victims and their families.

    Enjoy the game.

That’s it. That’s all he had to say. Allstate may have not gotten the memo, but this diversity nonsense is very 2024. It’s a new year and a new administration is soon to take over; let’s hope this DEI dreck is soon a thing of the past.

You are not in good hands with Allstate, America. Know it, and act accordingly.”

  8. Oh, yeah – great choice, NO!!!

EXCERPT: “New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, who has been leading the city’s response to the New Year’s Day terrorist attack, was previously fired from her police chief position in Oakland, Calif., and teaches an FBI group’s leadership training program course on diversity.

Kirkpatrick has more than 35 years of policing experience, according to her bio, with 20 years as a police chief. Her record also includes hitting two pedestrians while driving in New Orleans’ French Quarter in August and creating a gun-free zone around a police station there, by placing a vocational-technical school inside it.

The New Orleans police superintendent has been the main spokesperson for local law enforcement following what she called a terrorist attack on the city on Wednesday….”

“….Since the terrorist attack, police have installed yellow archers, which are barriers along the sidewalk to prevent anyone from driving up on it, Kirkpatrick said on Thursday. She admitted to a reporter that she “didn’t know about them, but we have them, and so we have been able now to put them out.”

Kirkpatrick “is a National Instructor for the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Association’s Leadership Training Program, where she instructs on topics including, but not limited to, Bias and Diversity, Emotional Intelligence and Leading Generations,” her city bio reads.

The association, FBI–LEEDA, “is a 501(c)(3) corporation,” and the “majority of members of FBI-LEEDA are chief executive officers and command staff of law enforcement agencies, directors and commissioners of public safety, corrections and detention staff, and elected sheriffs throughout the United States and foreign countries,” says its website.

She has been the New Orleans police superintendent since 2023. “Kirkpatrick most recently served as Chief of Police in Oakland, where she implemented a significant cultural change in terms of increasing police accountability and transparency, improving Procedural Justice and implementing equity-based decision-making,” according to her bio.

She was the Oakland police chief from 2017 to 2020, when she was fired by the city’s mayor and the Oakland Police Commission, a civilian group created in 2016 with a mission to rebuild trust between police and the community.

Kirkpatrick sued the city following her firing, alleging in part that she was fired in retaliation for being a whistleblower regarding conduct allegedly committed by some commission members. She received a $1.5 million settlement in June 2022 from the city, which did not admit to any wrongdoing…..”

Police station becomes a “gun-free zone”— Last year, Kirkpatrick was part of New Orleans city officials’ efforts to make a police station in the French Quarter a vocational-technical school to establish a gun-free zone. Kirkpatrick said in a July news conference that the Eighth District Station would “soon fit the definition of a vocational-technical school,” and within a 1,000-foot radius, be a “firearms-free zone.”

Last May, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry (R) signed a bill into law that went into effect in July and allows the constitutional carry of firearms, meaning the concealed carry of a firearm without a permit besides a few exceptions.

Kirkpatrick’s office didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.”

  9. IMO, this needs to be changed – no such “gifts” [bribes] should be allowed for ANY politician – period!!!

Just The News: “The State Department on Thursday revealed that first lady Jill Biden received the most expensive gift for the first family in 2023, which was a $20,000 diamond from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Officials in the Executive Branch are required by federal law to disclose gifts from foreign leaders or their counterparts, if the items are worth more than $480. Those that exceed the gift limit are usually turned over to National Archives or put on official displays, but the recipient does have the option to purchase the gift at its market value themselves if desired.

Biden also received a brooch valued at $14,063 from the Ukrainian ambassador, and a bracelet, brooch, and photo album worth $4,510 from the president and first lady of Egypt, according to the Associated Press.

President Joe Biden received a $7,100 commemorative photo album from former South Korean President Suk Yeol Yoon, a $3,495 statue of Mongolian warriors from its country’s leader, a $3,300 silver bowl from the sultan of Brunei, a $3,160 sterling silver tray from the president of Israel, and a $2,400 collage from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The department said Jill Biden has retained the diamond for official use in the White House East Wing, but it will be given to the archives after the Bidens leave office later this month. All other items have already been given to the archives.

The State Department also said several CIA employees have received luxurious items worth tens of thousands of dollars, including perfume, watches, and jewelry. All those items have been destroyed.”

Our Take: Oh, look guys, an NGO that is being accused of being a terrorist organization. (Here is my shocked face.) Obviously, we are being psyop’d into another round of “let’s go to the Middle East and kill Mooslums!” Most likely brought to you by the CIA and Mossad.

The problem is that, this time, they are getting sloppy. Like really sloppy. For starters, most of X has already figured out that the jihadi terrorist was flying his ISIS flag upside down — meaning he either doesn’t know how to read Arabic, or the intelligence operatives in the MSM/law enforcement who were responsible for staging the scene weren’t very well trained.

Note how the flag is attached to the flag pole/carrier in that picture. It’s upside down. The ISIS flag is suppose to oriented like this:

Then you have this odd MSM report about the guy’s house, where they found “bomb-making materials next to a Quran opened up to a passage about martyrdom.”

Really, guys? Not going for subtlety this time, huh? And I guess we aren’t closing off the crime scene to run forensics? Just letting some chick in yoga pants strut through like she owns the place? Because getting the story out to the public ASAP is the most important thing here, amirite?

Oh, and our friend, L (SomeBitchIIKnow) pointed out the background of the reporter, according to her own bio on X.

I must say that I am finding all of this ridiculously absurd. Accelerate.

  13. Court Upholds $7.8 Million Verdict For Transit Workers Fired For Refusing COVID-19 Vaccine

A federal judge in California has rejected an effort by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) to overturn a jury verdict that awarded $7.8 million to six former employees who were fired for refusing to comply with the agency’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate on religious grounds.

In a Dec. 30 order, Judge William A. Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California acknowledged minor “imperfections” in the jury trial—including flawed instructions to the jurors—and determined they were not severe enough to invalidate the jury’s October decision requiring BART to pay each of the six former workers between $1.2 million and $1.5 million.

Alsup denied BART’s post-trial motions to overturn the verdict and seek a new trial, saying that the agency failed to demonstrate that accommodating the employees’ religious objections would have posed an undue hardship.

  14. “FLASHBACK: 10 Years Before New Orleans Terror Attack, FBI Agent Told Another Islamist To ‘Tear Up Texas’”

The Federalist, By: Brianna Lyman, January 02, 2025

2015 Islamic terrorist attack in Garland, Texas

“Radical Islamist terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar plowed his truck through a crowd in New Orleans in the wee hours of the New Year, murdering 15 and injuring dozens. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is now leading the investigation — the same agency in which an agent once encouraged a radical Islamist terrorist to “tear up Texas.”

In 2015, local Texas police thwarted what would have been a massive terrorist attack in Garland, Texas. The saga began when the Islamic State recruited Erick Jamal Hendricks, a North Carolina man, who later befriended an undercover FBI agent. Hendricks connected the FBI agent to radical Islamist terrorist Elton Simpson.

During initial discussions between Simpson and the undercover FBI agent — who has never been named in government documents — the agent told Simpson to “tear up Texas” after Simpson made the agent aware of an alleged blasphemous Muhammad cartoon contest to be held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, according to The Dallas Morning News.

On May 3, 2015, just before the cartoon contest was to end, Simpson and Madir Hamid Soofi jumped out of a vehicle equipped with multiple rifles and handguns. Simpson and Soofi immediately fired dozens of rounds at the building but were shot and killed by local police and SWAT officers. The local police “prevented a massacre,” according to CBS News.

The FBI agent was present at the attack and later told Hendricks — who was not present at the attack — that he was Hendricks’ “eyes” that day, according to The Dallas Morning News. Trenton Roberts, a lawyer for security guard Bruce Joiner (who was injured in the attack), reportedly said he was “convinced that there is much more to this story than the FBI has admitted.”

The same agency is now “taking the lead in the investigation and is investigating [the New Orleans terrorist attack] as an act of terrorism,” according to President Joe Biden.”

The Democrats are all “giddy” about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at “half mast” during my Inauguration. They think it’s so great, and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves. Look at what they’ve done to our once GREAT America over the past four years – It’s a total mess! In any event, because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast. Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

“A-1669 is a state law passed by the legislature and signed into law by Governor Phil Murphy. It took effect on January 1, 2025. The new law PROHIBITS (yes that needs to be in all-caps) anyone from requiring that new teacher-hires must be able to read and write. You read that correctly.

Proponents believe it’s a necessary change to address difficulties recruiting teachers; critics assert that it’s bar on basic skills tests for teachers will negatively impact teacher quality.

“Notwithstanding any law, rule, or regulation to the contrary, the State Board of Education shall be prohibited from requiring a commissioner-approved educator preparation program to require the completion of a commissioner-approved test of basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills including,” the new law explains, “but not limited to, the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators test, as a condition for admission.”

We might as well throw in the towel for states like Jersey. The future there will be very bleak…”

Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., initially voted for Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, but flipped his vote to Johnson. Rep. Keith Self, R-Pa., cast his vote for Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla, but also flipped. Johnson ended with 218 votes, the bare minimum.

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., cast a vote for Republican Whip Tom Emmer.  The House of Representatives on Friday convened for its first day of the 119th Congress.”

  21. “Johnson Wins Speakership”

    Clandestine, Jan 03, 2025

“Johnson officially secures position as Speaker of the House. Not my first choice, but frankly I have little faith in Congress to accomplish anything anyways. And with Trump in the White House, Johnson cannot make any side deals with the Dems. Trump can veto everything.

If Johnson tries to pass more funding for Ukraine/Israel, and Trump signs off on it… well then we were doomed anyways, regardless of who was elected Speaker.

Surely there will be many claiming that the sky is falling, but that is far from the case. Trump and Elon said they want Johnson, and by the looks of it, Trump plans to address the most pressing issues via Executive Order on day 1, circumventing the need for the corrupt and inefficient Legislative branch. (See video attached)

In conclusion, we don’t have much of a choice other than to trust Trump. We voted for him to get the job done. He and his team have a plan, and he is asking for us to unify. Let’s give Johnson a chance and if he fails to do what is required, ultimately, it falls on Trump.”

  22. how ridiculous is this? the DNR in Michigan is clear cutting 400 acres of trees to make way for a solar farms.

    article

State Reps. Ken Borton and Mike Hoadley and State Sen. Michele
Hoitenga on Thursday called for mass firings within the Department of
    Natural Resources after recent reporting
exposed a DNR plot to destroy more than 400 acres of forest, located
just west of Gaylord, to clear the way for solar farms. The legislators
said that any person involved in this decision should be fired, arguing
that this proposal was made in complete contrast to the DNR’s
responsibility to protect Michigan’s wildlife and forests.“Mind-numbing decisions like this are absolute proof that the DNR is
completely rotten to its core,” said Borton, R-Gaylord. “This
deforestation will destroy habitats and effectively kill wildlife. Let
me make that clear, the DNR is choosing to kill wildlife so they can
build solar panels.“We’ve all read the Lorax. If he thought like the DNR, he’d only be
speaking for trees for as long as it took to fill his chainsaw with gas
after the solar industry waved a fat wad of cash in his face.”The legislators questioned whether the DNR even had the authority to
lease public land for private use, especially when that decision leads
to the destruction of wildlife and forests.“The people who made this absurd decision signed up for a job to
protect our natural resources. Their department is supposed to stand up
for outdoor enthusiasts; instead, they sold us out,” said
Hoitenga, R-Manton.“Just as the state rightfully holds citizens accountable for their
use of unethical conservation actions—likewise, people are demanding
accountability from the government for their unethical conservation
management practices.”In fall 2023, legislative Democrats rammed through radical green
energy legislation mandating 100% “clean” energy by 2040, closing
reliable natural gas plants and increasing dependence on less reliable
wind and solar power. An expert analysis projects that average monthly
electric bills could nearly double because of the new laws. The plan also gave the Michigan Public Service Commission, a
three-member panel of state bureaucrats, authority to approve green
energy projects, taking away local communities’ discretion over the
placement of wind turbines and solar farms.“It was clear that Democrat-backed laws enacted during the most
recent term would strip local control and lessen local input when it
came to these decisions,” said Hoadley, R-Au Gres. “Unfortunately, we
are seeing the results of that with this project that’s being forced
onto northern Michigan. Rural areas were always going to bear the brunt
of this government overreach, even when a lot of rural areas don’t want
these projects and their elected officials voted against bills that
pushed them. What good is so-called green energy when we’re cutting down
hundreds of acres of trees to put in the infrastructure that will
    support it?”

Gretchen Whitmer orders clearcut of 400 acres of state forest to make room for toxic solar farm.

      1. “….Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan wrote in the highly-anticipated decision that he was inclined to sentence Trump to “unconditional discharge” — meaning no imprisonment, fines or probation supervision.

“A sentence of an unconditional discharge appears to be the most viable solution to ensure finality and allow Defendant to pursue his appellate options,” the 18-page ruling reads.

The judge said Trump could appear either in person or virtually for the sentencing, which he set for Jan. 10 — noting it was in the public’s best interest to bring closure to the case before Inauguration Day…..”

“…..Merchan said in his ruling that immunity from criminal process for a sitting president does not extend to a president-elect. Any claim that “circumstance have changed” as a result of his election win “while convenient, is disingenuous,” he wrote.

“Finding no legal impediment to sentencing and recognizing that Presidential immunity will likely attach once Defendant takes his Oath of Office, it is incumbent upon this Court to set this matter down for the imposition of sentence prior to January 20, 2025,” Merchan wrote.

“It is this Court’s firm belief that only by bringing finality to this matter will all three interests be served.”

  24. She’s from the Virgin Islands:

Red State: “…..Plaskett seems to thrive on unhinged rants. In September, as a member of the House Weaponization Committee, Plaskett chose to rage against Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) and X owner Elon Musk, claiming they would call her derogatory names.

Plaskett’s unhinged diatribe seems to suggest that she might need a vacation in a mental ward but also that she might just be afraid of what might come out during the hearings.

Plaskett, a ranking member of the select subcommittee, said the purpose of the investigative body is to “test out conspiracy theories, prop up those stories that the far-right wishes to push into the American psyche, and to lay the groundwork for a dictatorial government led by Donald Trump.”

“X, formerly called Twitter, is going to call me a racist. They’re gonna call me a disrespectful black b*tch because I have said words against the chairman, my white male counterpart on this committee, [that] I’m a tool of the woke agenda!” Plaskett claimed on the House floor.

Now Plaskett decided she had to add to the already dramatic moment, but the House Parliamentarian made a perfect foil.

HOUSE PARLIAMENTARIAN: Does the Gentle Lady have a parliamentary inquiry?

PLASKETT: I asked why they were not called.

It seems that the Republicans in the gallery had less patience than the Parliamentarian. Several called out to complain that Plaskett was wasting time. Plaskett was none too pleased, demanding in response, “Have some respect, it’s not going to take…”

The House Parliamentarian hammered the gavel to calm things on the floor; then he once again addressed Plaskett.

HOUSE PARLIAMENTARIAN: The Gentle Lady is recognized.

PLASKETT: I asked why they were not called from the Parliamentarian, please.

HOUSE PARLIAMENTARIAN: Delegates-elect and the Resident Commissioner-elect are not qualified to vote. Representatives elect are the only individuals qualified to vote in the election of a Speaker, as provided in Section 36 of the House Rules and Manual, the Speaker is elected by the majority of the Members-elect voting by surname.

Plaskett, of course, knows these rules. Territories are not states. Members of her party have tried in the past to fight for D.C. statehood, but the Founding Fathers knew what they were doing, and smart constitutionalists plan to hold the line on it. But even after outlining the rules, Plaskett was not content to yield the floor.

PERSON IN THE GALLERY: Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

PLASKETT: This body and this nation has a territories and a colonies problem. What was supposed to be temporary has now effectively become permanent. We must do something about this problem for the four million..

The House Parliamentarian leaned on the gavel again.

HOUSE PARLIAMENTARIAN: The Gentle Lady is no longer recognized.

PLASKETT: But I have a voice!

The House Parliamentarian cut Plaskett’s microphone, and she walked off in a huff. I guess when you are representative of a territory that has no voting powers, ranting nonsense and throwing fits is about all you can do. Plaskett has made an art form of this.”

  25. “Biden’s Parting Gift to America: Joe’s farewell to America is littered with waste and corruption”

Libs of TikTok, Jan 03, 2025

“Less than a month remains until Joe Biden is forced to hand back the keys to the White House to Donald Trump. You would think that as a U.S. President, you’d want to leave on a positive note.

    But not Joe Biden.

Angry Joe Biden hits back at criticisms about his memory lapses | Business Post

In the last couple of months of his presidency, Joe Biden has decided to show us the true meaning of America LAST. His list of actions so far include:

    • $6 Billion More Taxpayer Dollars to Ukraine
    • Sparing the Life of 9/11 Masterminds
    • $1 Billion Taxpayer Dollars for the Ecuadorian Amazon
    • 1$ Billion to African Nations
    • Spent $100 Million to Promote DEI in K-12 Classrooms
    • Millions of Taxpayer Dollars on Foreign Border Security
    • Lost Track of 300,000 Kids Who Crossed Our Border
    • Attempt to Sell Unused Border Wall
    • Pardoning and Communting the Sentences of Convicted Pedophiles, Killers, and Spies
    • Gave a Blanket Pardon to His Convicted Son, Hunter After Promising Not To
    • Confirming Numerous Corrupt, Woke Judges
    • And now an Islamic Terrorist Attack Claiming the Lives of 15 Americans

The list could go on and on…

With 17 days left to go until Trump takes office, there’s no telling what else Joe Biden and the corrupt Democrats could do. Regardless, it is apparent that Joe Biden is bent on sabotaging not only Trump’s presidency but America as a whole. Because of Biden, we have spent billions on Ukraine while states struggle to rebuild from disaster. We’ve sent millions to foreign borders while ours remains open. We’ve pardoned some of the most evil individuals on the planet and nominated judges who ignore the Constitution.

But that won’t stop us from winning! Libs of TikTok will continue to call out the Democrat’s blatant corruption, waste spending, and America’s Last policies. Come January 20th, we’ll be back to an America First country once again!

Have a great weekend!” -LoTT Team

“Crazy people do crazy things — Vast government conspiracies are easy to entertain, but often a product of poor reason and irrational thinking, fueled by an era of warranted distrust.”

    Jordan Schachtel, Jan 03, 2025

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “2025 began with absolute mayhem. Within hours, we witnessed a devastating terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, followed by an active duty U.S. special forces service member exploding his rented Tesla Cybertruck outside of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas.

Quickly, conspiracies percolated all over the internet, especially within government-skeptical circles on the political right. Was the jihadi massacre some intelligence “op” to justify a foreign war? Was the Cybertruck-turned-Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) the work of a whistleblower trying to unwind a massive government conspiracy?

Given what happened over the last four years and beyond, it’s hard to blame the public for considering these options and many more. But we are witnessing a society-wide overcorrection in how many people absorb and think about the big news stories of the day. There is so much conspiracy-mongering, and not enough feet are planted in the ground of reality. This leads to poor analysis and a decline in overall reason.

By all indications, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the jihadi truck rammer, committed his act of terrorism explicitly to advance the cause of jihad for the Islamic State terrorist organization. Din Jabbar is one of the many men who embraced this ideology. The 21st century has seen a significant proliferation of radical Islam, and this is the latest of what has become a series of almost daily incidents.

Agents work at the site where people were killed by a man driving a truck in an attack during New Year’s celebrations in New Orleans on January 1. Eduardo Munoz/Reuters

By 2022, Din Jabbar’s life was in tatters, and he had become a devout Islamist. At the time of his death, he was living in a trailer in a community of like-minded individuals and living near a mosque in Houston known for its Islamist preachers.

Once an honorably discharged military veteran, the preliminary evidence trail does not suggest a conspiracy. Still, it shows Din Jabbar’s life took a tragic, dark turn into the world of Islamist fundamentalism after marital, addiction, and career struggles. He found a new purpose, but unfortunately, that purpose involved joining ISIS and carrying out what he thought was a noble mission of utmost importance: massacring the American “infidels.”

Now we move to the incident involving Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Green Beret, who reportedly shot himself in the head before his rigged rented Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.

    Livelsberger’s rented Cybertruck

Thanks to the great Sam Shoemate, we know that Livelsberger had previously reached out to some high-profile military vets as a claimed whistleblower, having declared that the U.S. military was working on “gravitic propulsion systems” and didn’t want the public to know. Shoemate, who has done incredible work exposing DOD corruption, went on the Shawn Ryan show to reveal Livelsberger’s “manifesto,” which covered various issues.

Accurate or not true, Livelsberger ultimately committed suicide and blew up his vehicle. Even if we are to entertain some grand conspiracy about this unfortunate event (thank God no one else was harmed), it’s worth keeping it in the back of your mind that the man was *deeply disturbed to the point that he ended his life,* so perhaps the sci-fi stuff about “gravitic propulsion systems” might not be genuine information.

I am lucky to have several patriotic friends and acquaintances who worked within and adjacent to the American intelligence community (IC). Some have rightly become disturbed by the gross politicization of the system under the current and former (Obama) administrations and have taken to the private sector to make a more moral and outsized impact on the country and the world around us. When you spend time with these people, you often find that their experienced critiques of the IC are very separate from those advanced by the general public. When it comes to our foreign espionage and intelligence services, they will often relay that the biggest issue is that the government all too often operates as an idiocracy and not a vehicle for continuous global conspiracies. It’s not that the “global conspiracies” should be discounted, but it’s good to realize you’re dealing with individuals and organizations that often greatly lack competence.

All that is said with the hopes that we check our premises, and check them twice, as we take on this new year. Sometimes, crazy people do crazy things, and it’s often that simple. In 2025, let’s lean into our reason. There’s always time to uncover grand conspiracies, but at the very least, start on the ground floor before dialing it up to eleven.

    Happy 2025!” —Jordan
