Creepy Fish: Vampire Fish

The physical appearance of this fish ispowerful as it has a robust and laterally compressedbody.  Their fins are short but have strong muscles which allow them to swim very quickly if their prey undertakes the escape. However, the payara fish’ (as they are known in Spanish) most striking trait is undoubtedly itsspectacular mouth, considered a powerful machine to tear their prey apart. The lower jaw is longer than the upper jaw, and both are armed withpointed sharp teeth from those used to crush their victims.

The attacking method and physical appearance is quite similar between the Payaras and the Goliath Tigers fish, since their heads are very similar. In addition, these two species can naturally replace their teeth and their four-part jaws allow them to open the mouth very broadly in both cases. The vampire fish, thanks to their good eyesight, hide deep in the fast and murky waters by launching ambush attacks on their prey, which makes of them a deadly and perfect machine, and they do so with lethal and diabolical precision.

In nature, vampire fish can become quite large. They measure anywhere from 2 – 3 feet long, and their weight is around 10 – 35 pounds. The largest recorded came in at 40 pounds. Captivity is another story. When bred in aquariums, vampires rarely exceed 12 inches and 5 – 10 pounds.

In the wild, vampire fish are ferocious hunters that are constantly looking for their next prey. They’ve been known to chase off medium- and large-sized fish that they don’t want to eat just so the water will be clear for the fish that they do want to consume.

In terms of compatibility, they may tolerate others payaras in small groups, but they’re mostly lonely creatures. It’s assumed that they only come together for mating and migrating. Captive payaras take these antisocial tends up to 11. They don’t like to be housed with other fish at all, and they’ll fight, threaten, charge and kill speciesthat are put in the same aquarium. They hate being crowded.

They’re moody and temperamental fish on a good day, but when you force to defend their territory, they become aggressive as well. It’s recommended that only experienced fish owners try their luck with vampire. They definitely aren’t first-time fish.

The vampire fish are characterized by being extremely aggressive, voracious, and very fast fish, which makes them true hunting machines. They usually swallow their entire prey, although sometimes they only bite their prey with their powerful tusks, tearing large pieces and then swallowing them. Vampire fish usually eat all kinds of food, although they prefer a carnivorous diet. So, they devour smaller fish found in their territory. Yet the vampire fish’ favorite food, are the fearsome piranhas, which they fully swallow in a single bite.

  1. Morning All
I had a wonderful experience at walmart last evening.
Normally with people zipping around you’re bound to almost run into people with your shopping cart. happens all the time. Typically I smile, say oops or sorry and move on. last evening it happened twice and BOTH times they were with a child pushing their cart. when i said oops, sorry–the PARENTS BOTH TIMES said to their children–this is where YOU say you’re sorry too. then the fathers (AGAIN BOTH TIMES) told their kids (one a boy, the other family was a girl) you have to be careful when you push the cart. I smiled, the parents smiled and we moved on.

Then in a larger aisle, a woman had a display and asked if I had Verizon. I said yes and she smiled and said she was offering $25 gift cards if i signed up for some new plan. I smiled and said no thanks and she smiled and said thank you. she had the most beautiful smile, so I hesitated before leaving and told her so. I know I caught her off guard but as I walked away i heard her say to the walmart worker stocking dvds–I may not have made a sale, but I have a BEAUTIFUL smile–how ’bout that?

I was in such a good mood, when we got to the check out i decided to have a little more fun. the cashier, again was happy and talkative, so I leaned in and said: In full disclosure Miss, I am NOT an undercover walmart executive but i wanted to ask you–are you happy with your job? She cocked her head and asked you’re NOT undercover?—and I smiled and shook my head. Big smile on her face, she said i love my job. I said it shows–on your face, the way you interact with customers–it’s been a pleasure checking out with you. On the way out, I stopped at the courtesy desk to tell them just that.

    1. Oh, what fun! Good for you!!! They need to hear a friendly voice more often. I always chat with a lot of the workers at WM – the older woman who is usually the greeter when I go is quite used to me.

About the beautiful smile – reminds me of a time in VA, when I was taking the public bus from Arlington to the Pentagon for a short period….there was a woman I saw every day who was quite simply stunningly beautiful. I’ve always considered Grace Kelly to be one of THE most beautiful women ever and she looked a lot like her. I couldn’t help staring and at one point, it became clear she saw me staring so I approached her and told her it was simply her beauty – not gay or anything like that – she was just classically beautiful.

    2. Good morning, Miss Pat. Those exchanges are helping to re-civilize America. You are showing courtesy and friendly action in an increasing uncivilized world. Also, I continue to marvel about the abilities of Nature’s world. The Vampire fish shows us that this spooky creature deserves recognition for its unique abilities.

I have some of its appreciation for solitude.

IRS used AI to spy on American Citizens. Rep. Harriet Hageman: “What we have learned is that the IRS, in fact, has been using AI to access bank accounts of American citizens without any kind of a search warrant or even without any specific claim that they have committed a crime. So this was something that was discovered by an undercover journalist, and what they found is that the IRS has claimed that they have access to every single person’s bank account. This person also indicated that they’ve been working with the Department of Justice and that they have absolutely no problem whatsoever going after the little guy to make sure that they are paying their taxes. This is such a blatant violation of the Fourth Amendment that we have, Jim Jordan and I sent a letter to the IRS demanding that they provide additional information about what they are doing with AI and what they are doing to protect the civil rights of American citizens.”

  3. Well, I’ve been up since the wee hours….got up to pee around 3:30, then heard the furnace start/stop, start/stop, start/stop…..sigh. It’s not making the other strange noises yet and it comes on eventually but…..another sigh. I tried to go back to sleep but, of course, that wasn’t possible since I was now listening with dread to see if the same series was going to happen again.

On a good note, I was finally able to find a filter for my humidifier – an older one, of course, and they don’t make that filter any more. I don’t want to just buy a new humidifier. This one has removable tanks that I can carry over to the sink and refill vs. having to take the water to the machine and pour it in. Much easier for me and not as messy, plus one refill will last close to 24 hours on the stay-on/quiet feature. It wasn’t quite the right size – about 1″ too short – but I made it work.

“These insects are generally nuisance pests. They won’t hurt you, but they can contaminate your food. Silverfish leave their poop behind in your food, so make sure to check for any insects. Discard anything that has bugs in it.

While silverfish won’t make you sick or bite you, they can destroy your home. Because they are chewing insects, they can eat through your belongings. Their poop will also cause stains.”

🚨Breaking: A Dutch court has ruled that Bill Gates will face trial in the Netherlands over his involvement in misleading the public about the safety of COVID-19 vaccines.

The case, brought forward by seven plaintiffs who claim to have suffered vaccine injuries, marks a significant blow to Gates, who has been a key figure in pushing COVID-19 vaccination efforts worldwide.

The court ruled that Gates, who attempted to have the case dismissed or contest the court’s jurisdiction, was in the wrong. His legal challenge was dismissed, and as a result, he has been ordered to pay the legal fees of the plaintiffs.

  6. Ah, I was wondering what, exactly, John Kelly said or did…..

EXCERPT: “In a a series of pre-election interviews, Donald Trump’s ex-chief of staff and former Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said the former president “falls into the general definition of fascist” and wanted the “kind of generals Hitler had.”

Vice President Kamala Harris and her campaign echoed and amplified these allegations immediately, but it seems either she and her Democratic colleagues have short memories or they are banking voters don’t know the history. Just a few short years ago, Democrats frequently criticized Kelly under the Trump administration and raised ethics concerns about the former secretary.

“Folks, the guardrails are gone. Trump is descending into this madness—a former president of the United States and the candidate for president of the United States says he wants generals like Adolf Hitler had,” Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said at a Tuesday rally.

Trump’s campaign shot back at the claims and vehemently denied them. “This is absolutely false. President Trump never said this,” said campaign adviser Alex Pfeiffer.

This is not the first time Kelly claimed Donald Trump admired Adolf Hitler’s generals. In the 2022 book “The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021,” journalists Peter Baker and Susan Glasser alleged that Trump asked then-Chief of Staff Kelly “Why can’t you be like the German generals?”

Trump reportedly insisted the generals were loyal to the dictator of the Third Reich, with the implication being that he wanted more personal loyalty from the military brass. But, other top advisors and officials have steadfastly denied that Trump ever said anything like what Kelly claims.

On Wednesday, Harris followed her wingman, ripping Trump over the alleged comments. “It is deeply troubling and incredibly dangerous that Donald Trump would invoke Adolf Hitler…this is a window into who Donald Trump is from the people who know him best,” she said in a statement in front of the Naval Observatory, the official vice presidential residence.

Harris also accused her opponent of seeking “unchecked power” and warned that his tendencies would be unchecked by people like John Kelly in the event he is elected. “Donald Trump is increasingly unhinged and unstable, and in a second term, people like John Kelly would not be there to be the guardrails against his propensities and his actions,” Harris asserted. Democrats called Kelly “Indecent. Immoral. Corrupt.”

Harris and her supporters aren’t talking about the fact that years ago, when Kelly was serving in various roles under the Trump Administration, Democrats frequently criticized the retired general for faithfully implementing tough immigration policies and raised ethics concerns when he joined a company with federal contracts to detain migrants after his government role.

“General Kelly is a hypocrite who is a disgrace to the uniform he used to wear,” then-Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutiérrez said of Kelly when Trump announced the DACA immigration program would expire. The Washington Post pilloried Kelly, saying he “calls Robert E. Lee an ‘honorable man’ and said ‘lack of compromise’ caused the Civil War….”

Issues regarding fraud and abuse of mail-in ballot issues have recurred this election cycle, including in the nation’s capital. A D.C. mail ballot was somehow sent to a Michigan residence belonging to a member of Hillsdale College’s senior leadership, addressed to a person who may never have lived there.

Hillsdale College Vice President and General Counsel Robert Norton told Just the News on Wednesday that he received a mail ballot from the District of Columbia Board of Elections on Tuesday that was addressed to a person who does not live at his residence.

The mail ballot for the general election was addressed to an “Anne V. Palazzo” in Jonesville, Mich. However, Norton said that he is unaware of anyone with that name living at his address for at least 40 years. “I opened the mail, realized what that was, and thought, ‘what the heck?’ and then I looked at the label” and saw it was from D.C., Norton said.

He noted that he checked with family members and no one recognized the name, and that this raises multiple questions as to how he received the mail ballot. “Who submitted this, how did I end up getting it, and is it part of a broader scheme of some kind?” Norton asked. He added that it brings the integrity of the mail ballot process into question, particularly how people can request absentee ballots.

Norton said that he wants this issue to be addressed and will do whatever is necessary to ensure it does not happen again….”

  8. Just The News: “A federal appeals court on Wednesday unanimously ordered a trial court to re-sentence disgraced attorney Michael Avenatti, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison for swindling money from his clients.

Avenatti pleaded guilty to four counts of wire fraud and one tax charge in 2022, without agreeing to a plea deal with federal prosecutors. He has also been convicted of aggravated identity theft, and plotting to extort Nike, in two other criminal cases.

The former attorney rose to prominence when representing former porn star Stormy Daniels in her case against former President Donald Trump. He has also been convicted of aggravated identity theft for stealing Daniels’ book proceeds.

The three-judge panel determined that the judge focused too heavily on a perjury enhancement and not enough on Avenatti’s legal services or the money he repaid to victims, when imposing the 168-months prison sentence, according to The Hill.

“I am thankful that a UNANIMOUS three judge panel of the 9th Circuit threw out my draconian prison sentence today,” Avenatti posted to X. “The sentence was always grossly unjust and violative of my most basic constitutional rights, but the government sought it anyway solely because of who I am. We ALL deserve due process.”

The panel also weighed in on whether Avenatti would serve his four-year sentence in the identity theft case, and the two-and-a-half years sentence for the Nike case, at the same time as he serves the main sentence when the new one is handed down. But the decision on whether to merge the sentences with the new one will be decided by the trial court.”

    1. Our WM doesn’t allow that – only official orgs, like local religious groups, Girl Scouts, AA, Salvation Army, etc. I think they require a license, most likely. When HB and I went to WM in 2012 (when I bought the jungle gym for Piper), we saw a woman holding a sign asking for $$$ at the entrance to the parking lot, near the road. Their vehicle was parked nearby, in the farthest parking space, and her hubby was standing by the car that was filled with their belongings. We decided to stop and see what their situation was and especially why SHE was out there with the sign and not him.

Turns out, they figured his appearance would be scary – very tall and bulky, bald head, beard and one earring. In fact, he looked almost exactly like my SIL!!! And, TBH, they were right – he did look kinda rough. They were trying to get to KS (IIRC) and their vehicle broke down. I went back inside to the ATM and withdrew $200 that we gave them. They were so appreciative and it made me feel really good to do it!!!

The sister of slain soldier Vanessa Guillén slammed The Atlantic after it used anonymous sources to allege that President Donald Trump disparaged her after discovering the funeral expenses.

Guillén’s death at the hands of a fellow soldier and his girlfriend became national news in 2020, with Trump comforting the grief-stricken family and extending death benefits. He also offered to cover the costs personally if the Army did not pay for the funeral expenses.

The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, however, attempted to rewrite history on Tuesday, claiming that Trump was outraged when he learned that Guillén’s funeral, which included heightened security and closed streets, cost $60,000.

According to the magazine—relying on an anonymous source—Trump allegedly said, “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!” and ordered then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to deny payment.

Guillén’s sister, Mayra, issued a viral statement on X, condemning The Atlantic’s distorted portrayal of her experience with Trump.

“I don’t appreciate how you are exploiting my sister’s death for politics- hurtful & disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members,” Mayra wrote on X, garnering over 3 million views.

“President Donald Trump did nothing but show respect to my family & Vanessa. In fact, I voted for President Trump today,” Mayra added. — ZeroHedge

Our Take: Seriously, I hope Donald Trump files a massive slander/libel lawsuit against Jeffrey Goldberg, and destroys his life. Because that is, effectively, what Goldberg intended to do to Trump with this absurd work of fiction. You would have to be an absolute degenerate to pen something like this, and then publish it.

So I decided to look into this clown’s background. Interesting history.

So this guy is another one of these Israeli dual citizens. He served in the IDF during the First Intifada as a prison guard.

You also have to wonder why Jeffrey Goldberg doesn’t support President Trump? Nobody has been a better friend to Israel than Donald Trump. So why does Jeff hate him so much? President Trump actually asked this question recently, pondering why so many Israeli-American dual citizens opposed him. Trump said that these Israeli dual citizens need to “get smart” about voting for him.

It would appear that Trump is correct. It is not reciprocal. Why not? Why do Israeli-American “elites” hate Donald Trump? — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

So many October surprises. I was wondering about her standing on the steps of the NAVAL Observatory and spewing her lies from a “he said he said” story. There was also the blatant lie regarding President Trump offering to pay for a Gold Star family’s funeral costs of their loved one.

“Rep. Cory Mills Demands Biden-Harris Gestapo DOJ Investigate Kamala Harris for Potential Criminal Misconduct — Accuses Kamala of Using Official Authority to Interfere with 2024 Election”
    Excerpts:

Mills is pointing to federal laws that prohibit any federal officer or employee from using their official authority to interfere with or influence an election—a line Harris crossed when she used the office of the Vice President to launch vicious attacks against Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, just 13 days before Election Day, Harris delivered a desperate three-minute unhinged tirade against Trump, invoking debunked smears and inflammatory rhetoric at the official residence of the Vice President, located at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., flanked by the official seal of the Vice President.

Harris wasted no time in seizing on the outrageous claim, stating that Trump wanted a military that was “loyal to him personally” and suggesting that he would use the military to target American citizens who opposed him.

Saying these things at the NAVAL Observatory, which is an active Military Facility, violates many codes, including ethical.

Mills pointed out that while the Hatch Act, which prohibits the use of official resources for campaign purposes, does not apply in civil cases to the President and Vice President, criminal provisions still stand.

While Harris may be exempt from the Hatch Act, there could still be ethical concerns related to the misuse of her official position.

Mills’s letter, addressed to Garland, reads:

    ****

As you are likely aware, earlier today Vice President Kamala Harris gave what was billed as a “press conference” at the official VP residence. In the under three-minute speech VP Harris only made vicious political attacks on Republican Presidential Candidate and Former President, Donald J. Trump.

After making multiple defamatory references to Hitler and claiming he would use the American military to go after American citizens, she concluded saying, “We know what Donald Trump wants. He wants unchecked power. The question, in thirteen days, will be what do the American people want?”

While the Hatch Act, which prohibits using official resources to support partisan political campaigns, does not apply to the President and Vice President in civil provisions, it does not exempt them from criminal provisions.

  20. “On that latest Trump accuser — Deep Democrat ties and an October surprise”

    Techno Fog, Oct 24, 2024

EXCERPT: “By now it’s part of the playbook. It’s predictable. Expected. Right before the election, another woman will allege she was sexually assaulted by Donald Trump. And now they’re trying to link Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein.

This time the accuser is Stacey Williams, a former Sports Illustrated model who struggled as an actress before turning Democrat operative. According to an exclusive from The Guardian (more on that below), Williams was groped either “in the late winter or early spring of 1993” after “Epstein suggested during a walk they were on that he and Williams stop by to visit Trump at Trump Tower.”

    The Guardian continued:

Moments after they arrived, she alleges, Trump greeted Williams, pulled her toward him and started groping her. She said he put his hands “all over my breasts” as well as her waist and her buttocks. She said she froze because she was “deeply confused” about what was happening. At the same time, she said she believed she saw the two men smiling at each other.

The details of the “sexual assault” were alleged “on a call on Monday [October 21, 2024] organized by a group called Survivors for Kamala, which supports Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.”

Why did Williams come forward now, and not in 2016 or 2020? She explained that while she was enjoying life as a “private citizen,” she “watched what has happened to women who come out and it is so horrifying and abusive. The thought of doing that, especially as a mother with a child in my house, was just not possible.”

What a “scoop” for Guardian reporters Stephanie Kirchgaessner and Lucy Osborne. Coincidentally – if you believe in such coincidences – Lucy Osborne had the exclusive September 17, 2020 interview with Amy Dorris, who alleged Trump sexually assaulted her at the 1997 US Open.

ZeroHedge already found one big issue with her story: the timeline doesn’t work.

In any event, it seems the Democrats have Lucy Osborne and The Guardian on speed dial to serve as their preferred vehicle for the now-expected “sexual assault” October surprise against Trump. Two alleged victims with similar stories, both Democrats, who are referred to the same reporter before the Presidential election.

Who put these “victims” in contact with Osborne? The best guess is someone affiliated with the Democratic party. As with the Dorris allegation from 2020, other media outlets are starting to run the Stacey Williams allegations. The Guardian just got the ball rolling – yet again. Sexual assault and the link to Epstein. Truly dirty stuff….”

Get this one around the Internet. In Bucks County, PA — a critical ring county for winning Pennsylvania.
A distinctive voice, of what appears to be a county worker. Destroying Trump ballots at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown.
This criminal should be easy to find and put in jail.

Breaking: Destruction of Trump mail-in ballots caught on camera in Bucks County, PA. This shocking footage must be investigated immediately! If true, this could be a serious threat to the integrity of the election. It’s becoming clearer that this is the only way Democrats think… pic.twitter.com/nVk4BLyPnm

  21. “Remember this conspiracy theory? 1 year ago today…”

One interesting part of the article:

“If they’re going to do it — the actual power brokers and backrooms and power structure would not want to bring this up until next year in the spring until it’s too late for someone to jump in and it has to go to a convention fight where superdelegates control the process,” Rhodes added.

In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.”

  22. what the hell is this bullshit? McCarthy for Chief of Staff?

    FTA

WASHINGTON — Kevin McCarthy could lead a new house soon, The Post has learned.

The ousted former speaker of the House of Representatives is widely seen as a top contender to be former President Donald Trump’s first chief of staff if he retakes the White House following the Nov. 5 election, according to sources familiar with the deliberations.

No final decision has been made and there is no sign that McCarthy is campaigning for the coveted role — though one person said the Californian has shown openness to being part of a second Trump administration in some capacity.
