    a big, BRIGHT, gorgeous, full moon out there this morning! When i came down the stairs, and looked out the side window, I thought it had snowed! but that was just the moon beaming down.
    temps are sitting at 40*–warmer than yesterday morning–and hubby says we may hit the high 60’s today. that’s be a change!

    1. Good morning, Pat! It clouded up here during the night – I did see the full moon when I got up in the wee hours to pee. A few warm days ahead for us and hopefully at least a little bit of rain – the drought is deepening again. Temp is 55 and it feels almost balmy!!! I haven’t touched my thermostat and furnace has been running normally, of course! The black calico came back yesterday and was eating dry food. I chased her off and now am bringing the food in when Wheezer isn’t around. He was waiting on the chair this morning – when I took it out, he just rubbed and rubbed against me, purring. But he still wants to bring up that front paw/claw to grab onto me.

        1. Anytime in the past I’ve made moves like I’m going to pick him up, he’s freaked out. I can scratch behind his ears and pet him on the head, neck, back and sides but NOT on his belly or chin. A better route would be to sit outside in his chair and let HIM climb into my lap. It needs to be HIS decision. He’s just too quick with those front claws.

            1. Just a reminder – I’ve had a connection to cats since I was a baby in my crib. Mama cat kept bringing her litter into my crib all the time. I used to dress up kittens in my doll clothes and they never once ran away from me, and I had a large cat picture collection. I guess you could say I am a combo of cats and horses! Dogs would be a close second to them.

    2. Not gamma – the appropriate term is golf. I learned that when I went to work at the airport in Pueblo since we used it to talk to the pilots on approach. That was one less thing I had to learn in basic training.

    It didn’t take long before a Trump supporter shouted to Musk that George Soros is “evil”—to which Musk responded with a clear “Yeah.” He said Soros is “honestly misanthropic” and that “for someone who sort of claims to be doing good, but actually he is not. He is tearing down the fabric of society!”

    Musk continued to drop 90 seconds of pure facts. He said the Second Amendment is there to protect the First and warns that once you disarm a population, the country is doomed to become Venezuela.

    Musk then called out Maduro, saying that he lost in a landslide but rigged the election. And the only reason Maduro was able to hold onto power is because the disarmed citizens can’t fight back.

    “So now you’re facing soldiers with assault rifles. Are you going to throw some sticks at them or something? Use finger guns? It doesn’t work. So Maduro, even though he lost the election, is still in power. And that’s the kind of risk that we face,” Musk said.

    Switching focus, Musk revealed to the town hall attendees why he was even there in the first place. “I haven’t been politically active before. I’m politically active now because I think the future of America and the future of civilization is at stake.” The crowd responded with a thunderous round of applause.

    One of the local residents from the area got amped up when he welcomed Elon Musk to Ridley High School, made him an honorary “Raider,” and handed him a football jersey. Musk handled the situation with pure grace.

    The local asked Musk what he could do to get Donald Trump across the finish line, and Musk answered, “Registration, registration, registration, registration, every single day,” reminding everyone that there are only three days left to do so in Pennsylvania. “If there’s ever a weekend to spend going hog wild on registration, this is it.

    In fact, Musk found it to be a “heck of a coincidence” that Philadelphia and Maricopa County use Dominion voting machines but “not in a lot of other places,” saying that the last thing he would want to do is trust a computer program “because it’s just too easy to hack.”

    “I know a lot about computers, and I’m like, the last thing I would do is trust a computer program because it’s just too easy to hack. It’s too easy to add just one line, and it’s really difficult to hack paper ballots.

    “So in-person voting with proof of ID, which, by the way, every country has. Almost every country that has democratic elections requires in-person voting with voter ID.

    “This is weird. It’s super weird to not have that. I think that’s the only way to effectively address fraud, given that we are where we are today.”

    “I think we just need a very big margin of victory. If the margin of victory is big enough, then as I say, it’s got to beat the cheat,” Musk said.

    Musk got into seriously risky territory of upsetting the establishment when he challenged government spending and reminded politicians that the tax dollars they spend belong to the American people.

    “For some weird reason, a lot of people in the state, the politicians, they seem to forget that the money being spent is your money. And if it’s not being spent in a way that is beneficial to the American people, it’s a misuse of the funds,” Musk argued.

    The bombshell of the night dropped when a voter asked Elon Musk, “Do you think there is a shadow government behind the Biden-Harris administration?” Musk replied with an awesome answer. First off, he said, “It’s not Biden. We know that for a fact. The dude has barely got two functional neurons.”

    What about Kamala? Elon answered that it’s not her either. “They just replaced the Biden puppet with the Kamala puppet, very obviously. If the teleprompter stops working, then the puppet breaks, and it’s like, ‘Oh, the puppet just starts looping because the teleprompter broke.’”

    So who is it? Musk said that he believes “There isn’t any one sort of puppet master but maybe a thousand or “a lot.”

    During his interview with Tucker Carlson, Musk said that there is a very high chance that Kamala’s top puppet masters happen to also be on the Epstein client list. He explained that’s why they’re so terrified of a Trump victory because if Trump wins the election, the Epstein client list is coming out.

    Musk believes in this crossover relationship so strongly that he said it again during today’s speech. “[It’ll] be interesting to see the crossover between the Epstein client list and Kamala’s puppet masters. I bet there’s a lot of names that appear in both lists.”

    The town hall ended in the most heartwarming way possible when Elon Musk dedicated some of his time to a young fan. In the middle of a serious question, a young child interrupted him, and instead of getting frustrated, Elon signed his hat and snapped a picture with him.

    This act was so classy that popular X video clipper @mazemoore said, “Thank God for that man. This election would already be over if not for him buying this site [X] and deciding to support Trump.”

  16. i need some advice.
    i am due for my annual checkup and was asked to “pre sign in” . i answered some of the questions about my health specifics which were required. there was an entire set of questions i did not respond to–are there any fire extinguishers in your home–type of none of your business questions.
    when i got to the consent to treat form, there was an entire section on hospital procedures. (i know my doctor is affiliated with this hospital.) the part i had trouble with was consenting to having my information AND TISSUE collection used in studies. I am not a lab rat. this is for a routine check up. i emailed the office and explained what i was having trouble with–the hospital consent–and asked if i could refuse to consent to that part and was told no. they would not see me if i didn’t give my consent for the entire thing.
    I have been seeing this doctor for almost 20 years. I canceled the appointment and told the RN to tell the doctor i would find another.
    are there directories for unaffiliated doctors? do they even exist anymore?

    1. Well, all doctors have to have hospital privileges somewhere I think. I know it used to be if one doctor wasn’t “affiliated” with the hospital, care would be transferred to a doctor that was or a “specialist” but IDK for sure. I doubt you will find any independent, stand-alone doctors any more except in really remote areas. Maybe look for a doctor who has their own lab so you don’t have to go to a hospital? You can also order some lab tests yourself and do it at home.

  18. Just The News: “Ryan Routh, the suspect in the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, asked Judge Aileen Cannon on Thursday to recuse herself from the case because of her relationship with the former president.

    Attorneys for Routh, who is the sole suspect in the assassination attempt on Trump at a golf course in Palm Beach, Florida, said Cannon’s reputation when it comes to Trump could create an appearance of partiality.

    Cannon was randomly assigned the case last month, but was appointed by Trump during his presidency, and he has praised her handling of his classified documents case. 

    “Mr. Trump is the current Republican candidate for President in next month’s election. On the campaign trail, he has repeatedly praised Your Honor for her rulings in his case,” Routh’s attorneys wrote in the motion. “As the alleged victim here, he has a significant stake in the outcome of this case too. Were he to become President in the future, he would have authority to nominate Your Honor to a federal judgeship on a higher court were a vacancy to arise.”

    Routh is currently scheduled to be tried in the case on Nov. 18.”

  19. Just The News: “The father and son duo who have been charged in relation to a school shooting in Georgia, were indicted by a grand jury on Thursday on additional charges related to the killings. 

    High-schooler Colt Gray, 14, was indicted on 55 counts, including felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault, according to Fox News. Gray, who was allegedly responsible for the September shooting at Apalachee High School, has already been charged with four counts of felony murder.  

    Colt Gray’s father Colin Gray, 54, was indicted on 29 charges, including second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and reckless conduct. Colin Gray allegedly purchased the gun used in the shooting and gifted it to his son for Christmas.

    Prosecutors claimed on Thursday that there were 25 victims in the shooting. Previous reports claimed four people were killed and nine were injured. Both father and son are expected to be arraigned on Nov. 21. 

    Colt Gray will be tried as an adult, and Georgia is one of 42 states that allow parents to be held criminally responsible for their children’s behavior.”

  20. IMO, this is a good thing – I have serious questions myself as to whether he is guilty. I mean….have we NOT learned that “doctors said” simply cannot be trusted these days??? Big question: was there an official diagnosis of pneumonia and what meds was she on for it? On top of that, fevers in children that young can get REALLY high, high enough to cause her to have a seizure, perhaps, and fall out of bed?

    I can never forget the invasive surgery the doctors wanted to do on my daughter’s head when she was only 6 weeks old – a surgery that I declined. By the next check up at 9 weeks, her head size was solidly in the normal range. They tried to say she probably had excess water on her brain – her head was too big, according to them. But she was very tiny at only 5 lbs/6 ozs and the first sign of growth is always in the head. It made no sense to me to put her thru that w/o waiting to see if it would level out and I was right!!!

    Just The News: “A Texas judge on Thursday granted a temporary restraining order for Robert Roberson, who was convicted of killing his two-year-old daughter by violently shaking her, which will delay his scheduled execution. Roberson was scheduled to be executed via a lethal injection on Thursday night, after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles on Wednesday denied a request for clemency in his case. 

    Texas lawmakers issued a subpoena for Roberson on Wednesday night, in a last minute effort to delay the execution. More than 80 state lawmakers in both parties signed the subpoena, claiming his testimony in front of the House Criminal Justice Committee was “vitally important,” CBS News reported.

    “This is an extraordinary remedy,” Republican state Rep. Jeff Leach of Plano said during arguments Thursday. “But it is not undue.” 

    Roberson’s attorneys are calling for a new trial for their client, pointing to reports that “shaken baby syndrome” has been widely discredited by healthcare experts. Roberson was convicted in 2003, after doctors claimed his daughter died from subdural bleeding, brain swelling, and retinal hemorrhages. The three symptoms together at the time pointed to “shaken baby syndrome,” which is caused by child abuse, per The Hill.

    The man has maintained his innocence, and his attorneys have argued that instead of “shaken baby syndrome,” Roberson’s daughter died from pneumonia that turned into sepsis, and that she fell from her bed and suffered head trauma.

    “Robert did not harm Nikki in any way,” Roberson’s attorneys wrote in an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday. “There was no crime—only the tragic natural death of a little girl.” 

    The Supreme Court denied the emergency appeal to halt the execution on Thursday, ruling that it cannot act without a “colorable federal claim.” But Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor explained in a separate opinion that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott could still halt the execution for 30 days.

    “An executive reprieve of thirty days would provide the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles with an opportunity to reconsider the evidence of Roberson’s actual innocence,” Sotomayor wrote. “That could prevent a miscarriage of justice from occurring: executing a man who has raised credible evidence of actual innocence.”  

    Abbott cannot grant clemecy to Roberson without a referral from the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.

    If Roberson is still eventually executed because of his conviction, he would be the first person ever executed over a “shaken baby syndrome” diagnosis.”

  23. Just The News: “U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is presiding over former President Donald Trump’s federal Jan. 6 election interference case, on Friday unsealed nearly 1,900 pages documents from special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation for the public to view.

    Trump has said the release of such documents ahead of the election on Nov. 5 is election interference in itself. Trump’s legal team has said the “asymmetric release of charged allegations and related documents during early voting creates a concerning appearance of election interference.” 

    The judge in the case disagreed. “If the court withheld information that the public otherwise had a right to access solely because of the potential political consequences of releasing it, that withholding could itself constitute — or appear to be — election interference,” she argued in her order on Thursday evening.

    The First Step Act passed in December 2018 aims to reform the federal prison system by reducing sentences for non-violent offenders and focusing on rehabilitation. A key provision allows inmates to earn time credits through participation in educational and vocational programs, potentially leading to early release into pre-release custody, such as halfway houses or home confinement. The law also expands compassionate release for elderly or terminally ill prisoners.

    Bannon is expected to be released on October 29th, though qualified for First Step Act early release last month.

    “Combs deposited the fake check as a joke, not expecting it to clear.  Surprisingly, due to a series of banking errors, the check was processed, and the funds were credited to his account ten days later.

    Combs became obsessed with monitoring his bank account, checking it every ten minutes to see if the money was still there. He did not spend any of the money.     a lot of horny 4 pointers (the youngsters)…chasing anything and everything…lol

    some nice 6’s and at least 2 8’s. but today we got to see a 12!!! never before did we see a rack like that.

    all the hunters around here put out antler enhancing feed blocks. right now it’s only archery season so hopefully no one gets this guy and we get to see him again!

    Made it safe to the Village, for her Birthday dinner – I picked up a bunch of Mexican food from Sally’s favorite restaurant and got brownies, Brownie a la mode low carb ice cream and toppings to make a Super Mega Brownie a la mode for dessert. Brought her a beautiful bronze colored orchid for her apartment.

    There is no rain in sight in our region. A week without rain and FL starts having forest fires – happens every time – especially when it’s windy. But with the cooler weather, we can go for walks as long as my bad foot allows.

            – Diabetic changes in [brackets]
            – Can make into cupcakes/muffins.

            DRY
            1/2 C all purpose flour [1/4 cup all purpose flour – 1/4 cup almond flour]
            3/4 C (150 gr) dk brown sugar – [2 Tbsp dk brown sugar, 1 Tbsp molasses, 2 Tbsp monk fruit sugar)
            1/4 C cocoa powder
            3/4 tsp baking powder or cream of tartar
            3/4 tsp baking soda
            1/2 tsp salt

            WET
            1 egg (whisk)
            1/4 C corn oil or light olive oil or mixed(drizzle and whisk in slowly)
            1/2 C whole milk, half and half, cream or buttermilk
            1 tsp vanilla extract

            Whisk wet/dry together, then whisk in 1/2 cup BOILING water – or coffee.

            OPTIONAL – Fold in chocolate chips and/or chopped nuts – pecans, almonds, walnuts.

            Pour into oiled/floured LOAF pan [or oiled/Pam muffin papers] and bake at 325°F for 45-50 mins. (or toothpick comes out clean).

            NOTE – If making cupcakes – use papers – grease papers with pam or oil before putting into muffin pans

            This is THE moistest cake you will ever eat, with great form and texture.

            It’s what a Hostess cupcake dreams of looking, feeling and tasting like when it grows up.

            If you don’t mind coffee it makes a VERY NICE difference. Still delicious without it, though.

            The original recipe called for light brown sugar. Go dark, trust me on this one.

            It was also originally an Air Fryer recipe (cover with foil for 35 mins then bake uncovered for 20 more).

            Chocolate glaze over the top makes it Hostess.

            ADDENDUM:
            @StevenDouglas Two changes Steven and I am a chef. Olive oil is better by FAR than vegetable oil, and half and half or full fat raw milk will make this cake SING!!!! Also maybe use 2 tsp cream of tartar and eliminate the baking powder. It will rise link the sun!

              1. Light olive oil might be ok or mix half butter and half olive oil. I do use corn oil in my chex mix, and rarely any butter as the original recipe called for.
