Today is the birthday of one of my favorite actors—Zachary Levi. Zach was born in 1980 and starred in my one of favorite tv shows—Chuck. One of the reasons I loved this series so much was the plausibility of the story plus the added bonus of watching the characters evolve and grow and it’s hysterical at parts.

The above picture is Chuck, season one. He is a nerdy employee at an electronics store, not living up to his potential. He was one semester from graduating from Standford when he was unceremoniously thrown out of college for cheating (he did not). He college roommate turned him in. That same roommate sent him an email which upon opening, “downloaded” government secrets into his brain. An NSA agent and a CIA agent tracked the email to him and they want to throw him in a padded cell and squeeze information out of him. He falls for the female CIA agent and proves he can be an asset.

In season two, Chuck matures somewhat revealing his feelings for his CIA handler. The team spends the season fighting and eventually defeating, a rouge group of agents known as Fulcrum who think the government has gone soft. He discovers his father invented the Intersect (computer) program and actually designs a program to remove it allowing Chuck to lead a normal life. But in the finale, Chuck’s best friend is killed in front of him and this time he purposely downloads the program into his brain to save those he loves.

Season three sees Chuck progress as a spy even more, developing incredible skills. His look reflects that as well, but, of course, conflict in his romance is inevitable. Chuck does not believe in killing anyone—even bad guys—and it leads to his CIA girlfriend falling for a macho fellow agent. He tries to brush it off, but eventually admits his feelings and fights for (and wins) her back.

The fourth season reveals that Chuck’s mom, whom everyone thought had abandoned them, was actually alive. The season is a search and rescue season and it’s revealed that she is an agent too. This season also sees Chuck and his girlfriend engaged and eventually married. (Comic genius in this season revolves around feminizing Sarah—the CIA’s top agent—with wedding details.)

Season five, the final season, sees the couple trying to create a life outside the spy world. A cyber security type business—his computer savvy combined with her badass bad guy knowledge. The problem is, the same type of Intersect program steals all of Sarah’s memories and she doesn’t recognize Chuck or the life they were building. He has to fight for her all over again. (But our hero is up to the task.)
Happy Birthday Zach!

Good early morning, Miss Pat (I couldn’t sleep)
Your favorite actor Zachary Levi is MAGA – !!!

“BREAKING: Actor Zachary Levi just finished his remarks in support of Trump by saying the people supporting Kamala are being lied to by the media and that all Americans are being poisoned through the food we eat, the news we consume, and Big Pharma’s drugs “Not just in the foods that we’re eating and not just in the pharmaceuticals that are being shoved down our throats, in the images that we are looking at, the audio that we are hearing through our media. We are being poisoned and lied to.” I don’t even need to hear more. I would vote for him if he ever ran for any office. Who knew being BASED was one of Shazam’s hidden superpowers?”

Morning GA!
I’ve been awake for hours in bed, but if i get up, hubby feels he has to get up…so i lay there thinking about an issue i am having with a new craft item and how i could work it out. then i started making a shopping list to start gathering all the ingredients I’ll need for holiday baking. years ago I made a master list–how many pounds of butter, flour, sugar, walnuts and pecan i use. then i buy a little here and there so it’s not a big expensive trip closer to the holidays.

Morning All
dark and cold outside. i am hearing odd noises out there that I can’t seem to pinpoint. It almost sounds like someone chopping wood–but not consistently. I thought at first it was acorns falling on the woodshed, but that is a more metallic sound. puzzling…have to wait till sunup or as close as we can get in this cloudy, dreary, week-old weather period we’re having.

Morning, Pat! Clear skies and 52 this morning – predicting high of 89 today, 83 tomorrow then 69 for Tuesday! I had to turn the heat on this morning….brrr. After that, a day or two of 80’s then dropping every day to the 70’s. Wheezer was hunkered down in front of the door waiting for his tuna, which he promptly ate before departing. He comes back thru the day to eat the dry food, which I have to refill every day.
Are you sure that sound isn’t woodpeckers?
“The most famous and familiar woodpecker sounds aren’t songs or calls, but drumming, which is also called rapping, tatting, and tattooing. Woodpeckers peck on objects to create sound patterns as communication. Resonant objects such as hollow trees, logs, and stumps are favored for drumming because their resonance increases the strength and volume of the drumming so it can be heard further away. Other objects that make popular woodpecker drumheads include:
• utility poles and transformer boxes
• metal chimneys and attic exhaust vents
• rain gutters and downspouts
• trash cans
• exterior light covers.”

Morning Filly!
wanna trade weathers?????
no, we have numerous woodpeckers here–big and small and the sound is not consistent. it’s not a tap tap tap. it’s a tap…long pause…tap and then maybe 3 minutes another another tap.
and then the next round several minutes later is different again.
when you’re splitting firewood –you chop a piece–maybe in half or even a third. then you have to reposition the wood on the block to chop again. that’s the impression i was getting. but it was too dark and too wet to be doing that.
now that it’s lightened up, i don’t her it anymore.
the bird is gone.

I was wondering if he was THAT Mellon and yes, he is!!! Paul Mellon owned a horse farm in VA across the road from Blue Ridge Farm, where my Mom and I worked back in 1988. We went on a horseback riding tour of Oak Spring Farm – incredible!!! He also kept his HUGE art collection at his home there. You might recall an open I did about Blue Ridge @ M’s.
Wiki: “Timothy Mellon (born July 22, 1942) is an American businessman, the grandson of Andrew Mellon, and an heir to the Mellon banking fortune.[1] As of June 2024, Forbes estimated the Mellon family’s net worth at $14.1 billion.[2]“
————-
Offered for sale at $70,000,000
EXCERPT: “One of the most important properties in America, Oak Spring Farm, the Virginia estate of Paul and Bunny Mellon, is rich in history and provenance. Here the storied couple shared their passions for horse breeding, horticulture, and art collecting.
The Mellons produced champion bloodstock at Oak Spring Farm and stand alone in claiming international racing’s trifecta by winning America’s Kentucky Derby, Britain’s Epsom Derby, and France’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Mrs. Mellon’s close friend, Jacqueline Kennedy, visited often and rode with the local hunts.
The over 2,000-acre property offers extensive equestrian facilities, extraordinary gardens and greenhouses, a mile-long airstrip, an enclosed pool, three primary residences, some 20 cottages, and numerous other barns, shops, and sheds. The overall aesthetic is reminiscent of the English Cotswolds, with emerald pastures lined by stone walls and distant views of three mountain ranges.”

Just as I expected – the “family” is outraged….simply OUTRAGED….over his support for Trump!!! OK – I didn’t mean to post this much but it’s kinda fascinating – to me, anyway.
EXCERPTS:
“Paul’s wife Mary had died in 1946, leaving him with their nine-year-old daughter, Catherine, and four-year-old son, Timothy. Two years later, when he married Rachel Lambert Lloyd, she moved into Oak Spring with her two children, Eliza and Stacy III, from her marriage to Stacy Barcroft Lloyd Jr.
Bunny, as Rachel was called, became known as a paragon of refinement, understatement, and discretion. “Nothing should be noticed,” she famously declared.
It was an old money credo that her stepson Tim, now 82, seemed to live by. Little ever appeared in the press about him except for a wedding announcement in 1963 and occasional articles revolving around his interests in trains and planes. Unlike other elites with access to the levers of power, he barely engaged in politics, making only roughly $350,000 in political donations between 1996 and 2017, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Then in 2018 he sent $10 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, the super PAC that runs ads on behalf of House GOP candidates. In the 2020 cycle his contributions to conservative candidates and causes totaled $70 million (including $20 million to Donald Trump). And since the start of 2022, he has poured in more than $125 million to Make America Great Again, the Trump-affiliated super PAC, and $25 million to American Values 2024, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s super PAC.
—————
When Tim first reached out to MAGA world to offer his largesse, they had to research him. Reportedly, he has little interest in meeting candidates or attending events, and he communicates with some by fax.
Some information came to light in 2020, when The Washington Post first reported on an e-book Tim had self-published in 2015. With the oddly punctuated and cased title panam.captain, it was an autobiography as well as something of a manifesto. In it, he wrote that Black people “became even more belligerent and unwilling to pitch in to improve their own situations” after the expansion of social programs in the 1960s, and that Americans who relied on “the government teat” were “slaves of a new master, Uncle Sam.”
After inquiries by the Post, the e-book was withdrawn. On July 23 a book with the same title was released by Skyhorse, whose founder, Tony Lyons, is also a cofounder of American Values 2024, the super PAC backing Kennedy (Lyons is also Kennedy’s publisher).
————–
“I’m just as surprised as you are about my uncle coming out. I couldn’t believe he was mentioned in the press. He’s the most private Mellon there is. He’s been very quiet up until now,” his nephew, John W. Warner IV, told me during a phone call from his home in Virginia. One of the three children Tim’s sister Cathy had with Senator John Warner, to whom she was married from 1957 to 1973, Warner IV is a military historian and former race car driver.
“My generation, and the younger generation, is unhappy about his very public support of what we think of as antidemocratic causes and candidates,” says a cousin of Warner IV. “Again and again I’ve heard dismay about him going in this direction. One of the cousins said it just makes her sick.”
————–
In a recent Substack essay, Robert Reich, who served as labor secretary in the Clinton administration, asserted that policies pushed through by A.W. in the 1920s—cutting the estate tax by half, whittling down the top income tax rate from 73 percent to 25 percent—allowed him to shift much of his fortune to his heirs tax-free, setting the stage for immense wealth and more specifically enabling his grandson Tim to bankroll the Trump campaign today….”

“Kamala Announces Construction Of ‘Murderers Only’ Express Lane At Southern Border”
Crime · Sep 28, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
CALEXICO, CA — Border Czarina Suprémè Kamala Harris has just announced that she will be implementing a new national security measure at the southern border checkpoints: a Murderers-Only Express Lane just for illegal immigrants who have been convicted of killing two or more people.
Sources within Kamala’s administration say that the measure is meant to help reduce processing times at the border by not making murderers wait quite as long in line.
“We’re really just hoping to provide an equitable entrance for these Democrat vot — I mean, honored guests of the United States,” said Gayle Quimble, aide to Harris. “The new Murderers-Only lane will hopefully allow us to sort out the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. There are getting to be so many murderers, it’s just clogging up the system.”
Kamala Harris commented briefly on the situation, saying that she had no connection to the situation and that the country can’t take four more years of this.
“When I am in office, from day one I will holistically be undoing the holistic mistakes of the current administration,” said the Vice President of the current administration. “Holistically speaking, I have never been the Border Czar holistically, in a holistic sense, but I will solve the Border in a very quick yet holistic way. Holistic.”
At publishing time, Kamala had also instructed border patrol agents to add lanes for Venezuelan gangs as it was getting too busy to process them all.

“After Extensive Research, Political Experts Believe Harris Struggling To Connect With Male Voters Because She’s Awful”
Politics · Sep 28, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
U.S. — After countless hours sifting through tens of thousands of polls, political analysts have determined the underlying reason Vice President Kamala Harris has struggled to connect with male voters is because she’s awful.
“Our team performed sophisticated statistical analyses of literally millions of data points and have at last finally identified the root cause of Kamala’s difficulties winning the male vote,” said lead analyst Mark Shore. “It’s because she’s completely, abjectly awful.”
The surveys of male voters used in the analysis asked a wide range of questions in an attempt to ascertain precisely which issues were hurting Harris. “After sorting through men’s views on her policies for the economy, foreign affairs, national security, and education, we have determined the problem is that Kamala is horrible,” explained statistician Dr. Stan Barber. “She’s just so, so bad. It’s really weighing her down, being the absolute worst.”
In response to the research, aides with the Harris campaign have broached the idea that perhaps Kamala should try not being awful. “We really think we could connect with more male voters if perhaps Kamala would stop being so terrible,” said campaign advisor Lisa Matthews. “It’s interesting, these voters seem to really value a candidate not being totally appalling in every way. It would be a big strategy shift.”
At publishing time, researchers had announced they had discovered that Tim Walz was struggling with male voters because he’s a giant fruitcake.

“Acting U.S. President Stops By White House To Pick Up Paycheck”
U.S. · Sep 26, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Despite fighting an ongoing war with Russia, acting U.S. President Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy appeared to be in high spirits as he dropped by the White House to pick up his most recent paycheck.
Though it required him to take valuable time away from campaigning on behalf of U.S. politicians, Zelenskyy was eager to stop by the Oval Office to personally receive his paycheck from his underling, Joe Biden.
“I love money,” Zelenskyy told members of the White House Press Corpse as he picked up his check with a sly wink.
When asked why he doesn’t use direct deposit, Zelenskyy said he feels nostalgic about picking up a check in person. “There’s nothing quite like holding a check for a couple billion dollars in your hand,” he said.
In recent weeks, Zelenskyy had been quite busy on the campaign trail, making the case to voters why they should give him a second term as the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces. Reports indicated he had traveled all over — flying from Ukraine to Pennsylvania to New York and back again. But he was sure to make time to swing by Washington, D.C. to get paid.
“Thanks, Joe!” he said, waving goodbye to the official White House Payroll Clerk as he left for another whirlwind trip to Ukraine.
At publishing time, Zelenskyy had reportedly asked for a pay raise. “It’s tough when you live paycheck to paycheck,” he said. “Bombs are expensive.”

EXCERPT: “This year will be the first year since 1958 that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management held no offshore oil and gas lease sales.
Energy expert Alex Epstein, author of “Fossil Future,” argued at a recent House Budget Committee hearing the United States’ record-high oil production is in spite of the Biden-Harris administration’s policies, not because of them. The data suggests he could be right, which means the impacts of the administration’s energy policies will be seen in the next four years.
Offshore oil production in the Gulf of Mexico accounts for 14% of the total oil production in the U.S., and production in the Gulf has remained unchanged for the past five consecutive months, which was one of the flattest lines in all the Energy Information Administration’s data. Exploration, which is the process of identifying potential drilling locations, has been declining at an annual rate of 14% since 2014….”

Found in 1867 inside a jungle cave, this feral boy named Dina Sanichar, preferred eating raw meat, had trouble standing on two feet, growled like a wolf, and gnawed on bones to sharpen his teeth. He never learned to speak. He became the inspiration for The Jungle Book’s character of Mowgli…
From Wikipedia:
Those nasty wolves with their nasty habits! He died of tuberculosis, maybe he’d have been better off staying with the wolves. Whatever his story, it certainly isn’t a cute Jungle Book. He must have found life so confusing…”

It seems like nowadays, people are defining their “identity” based on the latest mental health trend they’ve self-diagnosed, the newest meme causing chuckles across the internet, or the brands they’ve made a key part of their lifestyle. That’s where the story ends.
But I have a hunch that this isn’t just happenstance. I can’t shake the feeling that there’s a deliberate effort underway to shape us into a monotonous army of clones, too dull and docile to challenge the status quo. Honestly? I’d do anything to jump off this carousel of monotony…”

HURRICANE – SALLY Q UPDATE
Home safe from the Village – for a quick overnight to check on house, do a couple of loads of Sally’s laundry. When I left the power was out – since late Thursday night – but her Dad texted while I was driving back to say the power is now on at the Village.
I’m tired – the trip was interrupted by stalled traffic due to a wreck 18 miles out from the city.
I saw lots of new trees down on the road from the Village to the interstate and along the interstate. It didn’t hit our area as hard as Idalia did. The clean up won’t be as bad on my routes at least. Other towns say it was worse for them – and poor North Carolina – man what horrors up there. Hope our PAVACA is safe and has power and access to gas and groceries, and all other needs!
To think the rescuers, Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse is under the same kind of distress they so often work to restore!!!
My house is fine – the power was out only one day. This city is getting lots of experience dealing with trees and limbs downed power poles. Last Spring’s big storm downed 500 power poles and one storm caused them to haul 3000 loads of logs and wood debris!
I’m going to get ready for bed with prayers of humble thanksgiving for GOD’s protection over this house and our family’s other homes in the line of this storm – and for the storm sparing our lives.
Good night dear hearts, gentle people and great patriots!!!
