Pine Cone Owls

Create some pine cone owls with colorful felt cut into shapes for horns, feathers and noses and glued to the cones. You can use googly eyes for a funny look.

Pine Cone Hedgehog

How about a hedgehog for a pine cone craft project? You could mold clay into a cone shape and paint it when it’s dry. Then glue it to the bottom of the pine cone. These would make adorable place card holders!

Leaf Votive Jars

Wine Cork Pumpkin

Paint one end of the wine corks and leg dry.  Hot glue them together in rows (see photo).  Cut a one cork in half to make the stem.  Glue to the top. Cut out and glue 2 leaves from green felt.  Wrap twine around the stem and tie into a bow.

Apple Votive Cups

Apples make a beautifully rustic tealight holder. Choose well-shaped, unblemished apples, and help your kids to cut out a recess to hold a tealight. Make sure the apple sits flat so that there’s no chance it will tip over. The heat from the tealight will gently infuse the air with the delicious scent of apples, so your decoration looks and smells great.

  1. Good Morning, Miss Pat!

    Folks in the deep south where long leaf pines grow and have huge cones – make turkeys and Christmas trees out of them. Some of those cones are 8-9 inches tall. The needles can easily be a foot long and are used to make beautiful baskets.

    You can also make owls…

    Eight tiny reindeer…

    Wreaths for the door…

    Dip in paraffin and make fire starters….

    Make bird feeders by dipping in peanut butter or lard, and coating with bird seed.

      how LOVELY!!! i especially love the wreath!
      I wrote an open last year iirc about peanut butter and seed coated pine cones. we can’t hang them from trees here–they are no low branches–so hubby built me a stick tree and we tied them on and had it on the deck. the very first night we heard thumping from the deck and turned on the lights to see a squirrel had knocked it over and was yanking the whole thing off the deck…LOL

      1. Oh no! Squirrels are the bane of folks trying to feed birds. Maybe if the birds would be more aggressive and guard their feeders. A few beaks and pecks in the rear….

    1. Morning, Pat! 60 here this morning but it’s still dark so I can’t see the sky yet. Temps are supposed to drop, with several days of rain predicted for next week. We’ll see how that goes. All the birds have slowed down here – WPs, sparrows, finches, etc. For a few weeks, I was having to replace the WP block every other day. The last one I put out almost a week ago is only about 2/3 gone. Usual routine with Wheezer today.

      While I was watching the evening news last night, I saw that someone at Piper’s HS had been arrested for making threats. I called my Sis, who’s GGS was going to school there but he graduated last year. She called her son and he told her it was not a big deal, all settled – someone at school pissed this kid off and he ranted on FB about it. Everyone is ready to jump at the slightest thing these days.

            I meant IF someone makes a rant that is made known, i would be in favor of extra precautions at whatever location(s) the rant is directed at. I said nothing of censoring the ranter.

              3. all of that is well and good IF a parent does. but i think we have to act on any screed posted where lives might be at stake. not saying go after the poster per se, but beef up security at any mentioned target.

    Now WHY would any entity pay $1.6 million for a property worth $55,000?

    They didn’t.

    In this fake scenario:
    1) Dewine Family writes a fake sales receipt for $1,646,000.
    2)The call their appraiser who writes a fraudulent appraisal — posssibly stating that Dewine did a 77 story home-improvement and adds 2.3 MILLION SQUARE FEET TO THE APPRAISAL.

    2) They go to their cronies at the bank, and ask for a mere percentage of what the property is worth — $617,000 — for an equity line or bag of cash.

    3) The criminal insider at the bank gets the deal approved, becuase on a square-footage basis, this “OPPORTUNITY” is a DEAL! WoW! Local property is selling for much much higher per square foot!

    4) The bank also pulls the wool over everyone’s eyes in the underwriting department, because their computer screen shows that they are only loaning 50% of what the property is worth! Underwriting says “WOW! WE HOPE THESE PEOPLE DON:T PAY THEIRR LOAN, BECAUSE WE CAN EASILY FORECLOSE ON THE PROPERTY, SELL IT FOR $1.6 MILLION, GET OUR $617,000 BACK, AND WOOHOO!

    WE GET TO KEEP THE REST!

    5) The bank cuts a check for $617,000, and Dewine’s cronies cash it. $10,000, of course, goes to “Sony” to keep his mouth shut, except for interviews with the @CIA run media saying he is a happy American who calls Springfield “home”, but is in fear of his life because of President Trump’s racist CAT statement.

    6) Of course, Dewine kicks $100,000 to the DC bureacrat who cuts a check for $3 million dollars in humanitarian aid for Springfield.

    7) Dewine also cuts a $50,000 check to the Springfield City Manager for calling @CIA -run ABC and telling them — right before the debate — that he has seen “no evidence” of Haitians eating cats or ducks. (BTW: “we have seen no evidence” is Deep State-speak after the @FBI /@CIA completes their mop-up job and gets rid of all the evidence and either pays off or kills uncooperative witnesses)

    8) Then, of course, Dewine suddenly deploys Ohio State Troopers with a made-up excuse of protecting the poor little Haitian victim of racist Trump remarks; falsely accused of eating ducks by his loyal racist MAGA supporters.

    Then, of course, when @debthecohost and I are driving around Springfield, the Ohio State Troopers (useful idiots) will pull us over because the @FBI has been surveilling us forr 10 years — because we are, of course “domestic terrorists” for exposing their child sex trafficking network.

    The useful idiots of the Ohio State Troopers — who are only reading the information fed to them by the @FBI through the fusion center “are only doing their jobs” — when they pull out their guns and shoot us —- because they were informed by the fusion center via their patrol car computers as soon as they run our plates:

    “BOLO….DOMESTIC TERRORISTS….ARMED & DANGEROUS…POSSIBLE SPRINGFIELD BOMB-THREAT SUSPECTS….PROCEED WITH CAUTION.” (all made up by the @FBI and pumped out to all fusion centers via Fort Washington Maryland)

    If you were to ask what caused me to change my tune about President Trump from 2016 to 2020, I could give you a few reasons. But what we’re seeing in Springfield really drives it home.

    Housing costs skyrocketing. Communicable diseases on the rise. Car accidents, crime, and insurance premiums moving up. Citizens complaining for months (or longer) and mostly ignored.

    But it’s not just what’s hapening, it’s the way our leadership responds to it. Confronted with many of their citizens begging for relief, our broken elites offer only scorn.

    “It is racist,” they tell us, to get angry at being unable to afford a home, or to complain about being unable to drive a car safely down the streets paved by your neighbors, or to call 911 because strangers are slaughtering geese in a public park. They have ignored this town’s problems for years. Now, they pay attention–not to focus their considerable wealth and power on helping their fellow citizens.

    But to use their platform as a weapon against those who dare to notice that their lives have gotten worse.

    “They are here legally,” they tell us. Yes, they are here legally because Kamala Harris granted Temporary Protective Status to 100,000 Haitians. But Kamala Harris waving the magic amnesty wand is not a justification for the presence of 20,000 newcomers in Springfield. It is an indictment of her despicable open border.

    Nothing justifies violence or the threat of violence levied against Springfield or its residents. We condemn both. But the existence of threats doesn’t justify silencing those who wish to petition their leadership for a better life. There is no heckler’s veto in our country. Donald Trump was shot in the head, and yet they still call him a “threat to democracy.”

    Yet it is Kamala Harris who is a threat to democracy. It is Kamala Harris who would rather import new voters than persuade the ones who are already here. It is Kamala Harris who would rather ignore the citizens of Springfield than undo the policies that hurt them. It is Kamala Harris who would rather censor her fellow Americans than listen to them.

    What we are seeing from Kamala Harris and her enablers in the media is disgusting.

    And there is only one person who has consistently stood up to Kamala Harris and the entire corrupt system she represents. There is only one person who has consistently fought for the people Kamala Harris laughs at or ignores.

    “Comedian and political pundit Bill Maher opened a new can of worms as he picked a fight with Trump ally and conservative journalist Laura Loomer on Real Time. In his opening monologue, Maher called Loomer the “new bullsh*t whisperer” for Donald Trump.

    But Maher didn’t stop there. He went on to mock Loomer’s beliefs, saying, “You name the crazy sh*t, she believes in it,” listing things like “Birtherism,” being a “9/11 truther,” “crisis actor,” and “Pizzagate.” He even referred to her as “Florida woman,” a spin-off of the popular “Florida man” saying.

    To top it off, Maher described Loomer as a figure “for MAGA people” who “find Marjorie Taylor Greene too intellectual.”

    But Maher’s accusations didn’t end there. Responding to Loomers claim that “Taylor Swift is in an arranged relationship with Travis Kelce to influence the 2024 election,” Maher flipped the script, suggesting that Laura Loomer is “in an arranged relationship to affect the election because she’s very close to Trump.”

    Maher should have quit right there, but he took it a step even further, suggesting that Loomer is engaging in sexual activities with the former president.

    “She’s 31, looks like his type … Who’s Trump f—king?” Maher asked. “Because I said, ‘It’s not nobody.’ He’s been a dog for too long. And it’s not Melania. I think we may have our answer this week. I think it might be Laura Loomer.”

    I should sue Bill Maher for Defamation. This is beyond the pale, and it’s a complete and blatant lie.     This is unacceptable. And it’s a full-blown LIE and incredibly disrespectful to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.     EXCERPT: “On Friday the 13th I spent sometime on an update with my friend Craig Sawyer on what is happening in Millersville, Tennessee (please find the video here). It is disturbing. What we are hearing is that this small town has been fighting hard to clean up a cesspool of corruption. Most of what they are dealing with is typical of local corruption but as the local police department continued to fight, they uncovered a core mechanism of corruption the facilitates major issues across the country such as drug and human trafficking, CCP influence, and more. Needless to say, this is creating blowback.

    Several years ago, Millersville made changes. They elected new people, brought in to police, and began eradicating corruption on many levels. The new police department began to actually investigate corruption and hold people accountable. This has, needless to say, created issues in a traditional southern area filled with nepotism and a “look the other way” culture. Regardless, the police continued.

    As investigations continued, Craig “Sawman” Sawyer – Marine veteran, former Navy SEAL, sniper, combat instructor and founder of Veterans For Child Rescue (V4CR) – began working to assist to bust a suspected child trafficking ring. Through the mutual work of the Millersville PD and V4CR, the police began to recognize an issue. It appeared that a number of people that appeared to be involved with child trafficking or facilitating child trafficking were being bought off using a very specific mechanism.

    This is complex but important. Understand that child trafficking in America is a major and rarely discussed issue that few people understand but facilitating that trafficking requires money and political acquiescence. People have to look the other way. The issue come down to a question most people take for granted. Most people think our government is corrupt but if you ask how an official would be bought off the answer is typically silence. A bribe is illegal so how do you give someone money that would be recognized by tax officials that is illegal?

    The answer is critical and the mechanism is the same is has been used in Arizona to pay for election fraud, in DC to keep politicians (and allegedly Biden) in line, and locally across the country. Cartels, the CCP or whatever corrupt evil doer wants control will facilitate a politician or bureaucrat getting a massive loan – frequently a home equity loan – and then pay the loan off for them. The politician or bureaucrat keep the loan money and have nothing to pay back. No one checks on who or how the loans are bing paid back so the money is effectively laundered.

    Tracking or investigating this scheme is very difficult. One of the most important tools for law enforcement to use to investigate this sort of crime is the “FinCen” database. Querying this database can provide insight as to whether money laundering is occurring and that is precisely what Millersville PD was doing when the poo hit the fan.

    As Millersville PD started to identify individuals that appeared, based on their investigations that included the FinCen database, to be involved in trafficking. Over 70 individuals were identified and charges were being prepared. At that point, for no reason that has yet been made clear, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (the TBI) cut their access to the FinCen Database. Then, at the same time, media and political attacks exploded. The Millersville PD appeared to be getting too close to something big and important people seemed to be getting nervous….”

    President Trump actually solved the problem years ago, Reichert notes, when he bought those pumps to be built on the Mexican side of the border so that Mexico could keep its own sewage.

    When Joe Biden took office, the pumps were mysteriously turned off and the sewage flowed into San Diego County, making a lot of people sick, forcing Navy SEALs up north to swim in it, Border Patrol agents to come into contact with it, and property owners to take the hit to the value of their properties as the giant Mexican toilet flowed northward.
    Why were those pumped turned off? Reichert says in her video to follow the money. From what I got from it, it’s likely federal funds were to flow so long as the beaches stayed filthy and a lot of Biden and Newsom cronies were to be made rich.

    Reichert charges that the Biden administration actually colluded with the Mexicans to create the problem, allowed it to go on (in a bid to shake out federal cleanup funds), and were actually sitting on the solution all along.

  20. I hate to say it but, on this subject, I agree wholeheartedly! A degree means nothing any more! It used to irk me no end that someone was chosen over me, even tho I was more technically qualified w/hands-on experience, simply because they had a degree. They also got paid more.

    That happened to me again when we moved back here in 2009 and I got an apartment in Lincoln, where I figured I’d have a better chance of finding a better paying job than Norfolk. I had worked for a design engineer firm in VA for over 2 years and had direct experience when I applied for an admin position in Lincoln at a design engineer firm. They chose a young 20+ something college graduate instead, w/no experience whatsoever. Time after time after time, they went w/someone w/a degree instead of me.

    “She told me a fetus wasn’t a human, which is weird because she calls herself a ‘cat-mom’ and is always buying clothes for Dave,” Maeser’s friend Amy Smoot said. “One time she yelled at me for reminding her Dave was a cat and not her actual child.”

    At publishing time, Maeser had last been seen arguing with a friend over whether or not a human could be ‘illegal’ all the while screaming for the arrest of people who share memes she disagrees with.

    While the Pope convened a special council of cardinals to try and interpret the Marian manifestation, the Holy See of Rome has not yet delivered any official comment on the reason for the appearance on the toast beyond confirming that Mary did indeed look pretty irritated.

    “Honestly, she’s probably just hoping that we’ll finally start being responsible with the environment and welcome all migrants,” the Pope said in an unofficial interview. “Or maybe she was mad that my toast wasn’t gluten-free. I don’t know.”

    At publishing time, Vatican sources had disclosed that the Pope had eaten the toast anyway and was waiting to see if Mary would reappear in his bowl of SpaghettiOs at lunchtime.

  23. got off the phone with our daughter. Luke Bryan (country singer) does regular concert venues, but he also does FARM venues. he somehow gets in contact with farmers around the country and has farm concerts. you bring your truck, drive into a field and that’s your seat–price is substantially lower. well one of those farm tours is close to them this year and they are going!

    i think that’s such a cool idea!

      YANKTON, S.D. (KTIV) – Rain makes corn, and corn makes corn mazes. Mazing Acres in Yankton, South Dakota is home to a fall-themed wonderland opening on Saturday, Sept. 14. The family planted 5 acres of corn, complete with 2.5 miles of maze trails to go through and it’s all in the shape of country singer, Luke Bryan.

      “Luke Bryan has always been obviously a huge country singer, it’s hard not to like a lot of his songs. He also grew up on a farm, a peanut farm. Has always kind of given back to agriculture. He has a farm tour. He’s done for the last 15 years, I believe, where he goes to farms and has a concert,” said Scott Nedved, Co-Owner of Mazing Acres.

      As Luke Bryan says it’s “out where the corn rows grow,” and the Nedved family did just that. “It’s one design for that five-acre maze, but it’s split into a smaller maze and a bigger maze. Some folks like to go through and be a little quicker. 10-15 Minutes smaller maze. It’s an hour-ish for the bigger maze,” said Scott Nedved.

      Molly Nedved is excited to welcome the public back to their farm. “We’ll have Luke trivia within there, so you can play an interactive game,” said Molly Neved.

      Since the end of June, the Nedved family has been out here daily preparing the grounds for guests. “We first opened in 2020, and it’s grown every year. We’ve also had to grow the farm itself, as far as more pumpkins and bringing more mums in, as well as just new attractions every year,” said Molly.

      A hayride that takes you out to the patch, a giant slide, zip lines, and flowers upon flowers with pumpkins everywhere. A fan favorite when it comes to photography is the pumpkin houses, creating a photoshoot Pinterest board dream.

      “I really enjoy bringing new and unique over-the-top photo ops to the farm because everybody loves that wonderful Instagram picture,” said Molly.

      As for what is new this year, paintball is the latest attraction. ”Everybody, it’s a happy place, so everybody comes with smiles and is looking for a good time. And we love providing that venue for that,” said Molly.

      Grab a map and get lost with Luke Bryan. Will the country star be making an appearance himself?

      Scott said Bryan is taking his farm tour to the east coast this year, “You never know. Keep your fingers crossed.”

        last year my granddaughter and her friends went to a different corn every weekend from September to end of October and since none of them are old enough to drive so did my daughter…LOL0

    Just The News: “Disney and DirecTV reached an agreement on Saturday to restore networks owned by Disney, including ABC, ESPN and FX.

    On Sept. 1, DirecTV stopped airing channels owned by Disney, meaning football fans couldn’t watch “Monday Night Football” on ESPN and tennis fans missed the finals of the U.S. Open on ABC. It also resulted in 11 million subscribers not being able to watch any Disney networks. 

    “We’d like to thank all affected viewers for their patience and are pleased to restore Disney’s entire portfolio of networks in time for college football and the Emmy Awards this weekend,” the companies said, according to CNN.

    Both Disney and ESPN said they are in the progress of making a deal that will include different options for customers such as Disney+ and Hulu.

    “We appreciate our customers’ patience as we negotiated this challenging but vital agreement, which now provides them more flexibility and choice within a seamless entertainment experience,” the statement continued.”

Got a lot of quizzical looks–one biker dude asked me–who’s that? I said Trump & Vance. He whooped–and said I gotta get me one of those!! so i went back to browsing the clothes when he came back up to me with 2 other dudes–he said ma’am (what an insult, right?) can you show these guys your shirt? so i turned to them and they got big smiles on their faces…(maybe cuz I’m busty, but maybe not). Out of the three of them, they maybe had 30 hairs between them…lol

    but they all wanted shirts.
