Today is Melissa McCarthy’s birthday, born in 1970, and I do not know her politics, but I do enjoy the movies and series I have seen her in—Spy, The Heat, and Mike and Molly. In Spy, she plays an agent for the government who was tricked into providing support for a handsome agent. When he is neutralized, she is sent abroad for a low-key surveillance mission where she is assigned aliases such as housewife and cat lady, which she rejects and shows off her true spy capabilities (with some hilarious, but impressive results.) I found an article on factinate.com her describing 42 things we may not know about her, and I wanted to share a few of these.
From Factinate:
Why Buy It When You Can Make It
Thanks to her fashion background, McCarthy designs the majority of the dresses she wears at award shows and premieres for her movies.

A Little Heads up Would Have Been Nice
In 2011, McCarthy and Joshua Jackson announced the nominees for various Emmy categories, but apparently, no one told her she was up for an award for Mike & Molly. When Jackson announced her name, she was genuinely shocked and so overcome with emotions that she could barely get through the rest of the nominees.

A Dress for Every Occasion
She returned to her fashion roots in 2015 when she launched her own fashion line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, which offers reasonably priced clothing options for women from size 4 to 28.

Makeover: Diet Edition
After landing the role of Sookie St. James in Gilmore Girls, McCarthy decided to go on an all-liquid diet that resulted in her losing 70 lbs (32 kg) in four months! According to McCarthy, she would never do it again because it drove her crazy, and she would rather have a beer and a burger than starve herself. I’m with ya there, Melissa!

A Very Canadian Heist
In 2011, McCarthy and Mumolo sold a pitch to Paramount Pictures for a movie that has yet to be made and I can’t figure out why. The film would’ve starred McCarthy as a woman who tries to steal the Stanley Cup. Can someone at Paramount finance this movie already!

They Said What?
McCarthy admitted that she was “shocked and heartbroken” after her sitcom Mike & Molly was canceled after 6 seasons. After all, it was one of her first starring roles and she’d achieved much of her film success while still appearing on the show. One of the weirder rumors that was spread after the cancellation was that the show had been axed because McCarthy had lost too much weight after taking diet pills. These rumors were quickly disproven and found to have originated from—you guessed it—a manufacturer of diet pills.

You can read more facts about Melissa at the factinate.com website!

Pfffttt…so much for the rain storm! It rained lightly, now it’s just cloudy & humid. A small tractor just drove up in my yard with a load of sand on the bucket. He got a shovel and is putting sand in the hole, and said he will be back later with dirt to finish filling it in, for which I thanked him. Problem solved! Yeah!

BREAKING: The DOJ is in PANIC mode that Wisconsin towns Thornapple and Lawrence have chosen to count their 2024 election ballots by hand without the use of electronic voting machines
Merrick Garland’s mafia sent a letter to the town officials, THREATENING them by “authorizing the filing of a lawsuit” unless they complied.
The Feds are trying to claim that the ONLY way disabled voters can vote is with a voting machine, which is next-level INSANITY. Apparently, no disabled people could vote before electronic voting machines were invented. In reality, they’re going after these towns because they’re setting an example for the rest of the country to follow
It also seems there’s a coordinated effort between the DOJ and a disability rights NGO because they’re arriving on the same battlefield against these towns together, “By ceasing to use electronic voting equipment and, instead, exclusively using paper ballots completed and tabulated by hand, Respondents are no longer using voting systems that are accessible for individuals with disabilities in a manner that provides the same opportunity for access and participation (including privacy and independence) as for other voters,” – Disability Rights Wisconsin in a complaint to the DOJ
Ask yourself this: Why do Democrats think towns with fewer than a thousand living in them need voting machines to count ballots? Why is the DOJ going scorched earth to make sure they use the machines?

Boar’s Head brand lunch meats is having a few problems.
https://revolver.news/2024/08/boars-head-facing-deadly-health-crisis-listeria-mold-bugs-after-implementing-refugee-work-program/
“At least nine people have died after being infected with listeria from Boar’s Head deli meats tied to a massive recall last month, federal health officials said Wednesday.”
“How does a company go from being the top dog to the bottom of the barrel so quickly? Well, you start implementing DEI practices, and in no time flat, your company begins to collapse. Just ask Boeing, Bud Light, and Harley Davidson. In other words, get woke, go broke.
Boar’s Head proudly displayed their DEI initiatives on their website, where they bragged about their programs focusing on “refugees.””
The program is called Tent Coalition for Refugees in the U.S.:
“As the U.S. welcomes tens of thousands of refugees fleeing Afghanistan, 33 major companies — including Amazon, Facebook, Pfizer, and Tyson Foods — today announced that they will join the Tent Coalition for Afghan Refugees, pledging to help create economic opportunities for Afghans as they start their new lives in America.
The new coalition is spearheaded by the Tent Partnership for Refugees, a network of over 180 global businesses integrating refugees. As part of this new commitment, some of America’s biggest employers will create job opportunities, provide training and other resources to help Afghans better integrate into the American economy — a fundamental component for Afghans’ successful resettlement in the U.S.”

EXCERPT: “It seems as though Trump derangement syndrome (TDS) knows no bounds. From things that can be classified as silly, like former First Lady Melania Trump never appearing on the cover of magazines like Vogue, to the extremely serious, like an assassination attempt. Closer to the serious end of the scale lands the folks at Arlington National Cemetery and their recent treatment of the 13 Gold Star families of service members killed in the Afghanistan withdrawal at Abbey Gate and the ceremony marking the third anniversary of that incident, with former President Donald Trump attending that ceremony.
Per a Daily Caller exclusive report, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) ultimately ended up intervening so that Trump, who had been invited to attend the ceremony and laid a wreath for the service members, could get into Arlington National Cemetery. This part of the never-ending disrespect these families have received at the hands of the Biden-Harris federal government begins with the Cemetery informing the families that there was a specific time that the ceremony could be held, but that time was not convenient for all family members. They were also informed that Trump would not be able to join them at their loved ones’s gravesites.
Darin Hoover and Kelly Barnett are the parents of SSGT Taylor Hoover. Hoover and Barnett contacted Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, who, in turn, contacted Speaker Johnson. Johnson made a phone call, and what do you know, the situation changed. In addition to Johnson and McCaul, Reps. Brian Mast (R-FL) and Darrell Issa (R-CA) also stepped in to help the families to make sure the ceremony went off without a hitch….”

EXCERPT: “Did Kamala Harris ever work at McDonald’s and if so, did the job help her “put herself through college?” Those might not seem like important questions on the surface, but when you consider the Democrat presidential nominee has been using the claim to fluff her supposedly hard-knock background, the truth of the matter becomes just a bit more relevant.
That’s especially true given Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, has been caught in a litany of lies, including stealing valor about carrying weapons in war. Here’s how the Harris campaign has been describing the supposed stint at McDonald’s.
According to Harris, she “did fries” before moving over to work as a cashier, and that’s just the first part of the tale that doesn’t necessarily add up. The behind-the-counter dynamic at McDonald’s doesn’t typically have a specific person only cooking fries. With that said, it’s at least possible she labored at a unique McDonald’s that had her only cooking fries before moving over to be a cashier.
What’s less believable is that this harrowing story of a working-class woman having to pay her way through college by salting fries was only worth mentioning when she began to run for president.
It would seem odd for Harris to never mention this detail about her life story until she was in her mid-50s. She wrote multiple books, and none of them included her working at McDonald’s. The multiple biographers who profiled her apparently never knew about it either. Only when it became politically convenient did Harris start making the claim.
Then there’s her post-college resume, which never mentions any job at McDonald’s. In the same document, she mentioned fairly irrelevant details about her travel to Africa and India.
Further, McDonald’s has not responded to multiple requests for comment on confirming her employment. As the Free Beacon notes, that’s a marked change from how fast-food chains have previously acknowledged presidential candidates who once worked for them…..”

“Illegal Aliens Tried to Force Their Way Onto School Buses Filled With Children Near San Diego”
By Jerry Wilson | 8:15 AM on August 29, 2024
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “A frightening scenario has taken place not once but twice in East County near San Diego, California, where, on August 27, 2024, and again the following day, numerous illegal immigrants attempted to force their way onto school buses packed with children.
(Video)
The first incident occurred Tuesday (August 27) afternoon. According to (Jamul-Dulzura Union School District Superintendent) Liz Bystedt, three men were walking in the middle of a highway. They attempted to stop a bus at a stop on the highway. In response, the bus went around the men.
The following morning, another school bus encountered a group of about 20 people as it was picking students up from the same stop where the previous day’s incident occurred. Parents present at the site took action, assisting the bus driver to ensure students were safe and that no one besides the children boarded the bus.
According to an email sent by Bystedt to parents on August 28:
As reported here on August 24, the San Diego area is rife with illegal border crossings.
It warrants mention that on August 28, the California State Legislature passed a bill giving illegal immigrants authorized access to the state’s taxpayer-funded Homebuyers Loan Program, which provides fixed-rate loans for up to $150K for first-time homebuyers. Apparently, the illegals in East County got wind of this and assumed free public transportation was part of the arrangement.
The question isn’t why the incidents in East County happened, but rather why they didn’t happen sooner. One can only hope that the parents of East County schoolchildren will take these events to heart and start demanding that state and federal officials do their job of protecting kids.
In a world where real media existed, a member of same would directly question Vice President Kamala Harris about the incident and ask her what she was doing, other than parroting former President Donald Trump regarding a border wall, to ensure the safety of innocents. This, of course, will not happen, as even if there were real media, there would be no access to Harris and her campaign built on a platform of lollipop dreams in a cotton candy sky. Will it take one or more children getting hurt, or worse, to open their eyes?”

Potentially dangerous, but the reporting has been misleading.
Most of these ” migrants” come from poor countries and mistook the school busses for what we would call “public transportation.” They were a large group, 20 or so from reports I’ve seen, and were trying to flag down/stop the bus for a ride.
The term “hijack” implies something nefarious, which it apparently was not.
in any case, it would have been a frightening experience for young children, parents, bus driver who would not have immediately understood what was happening. And could have resulted in injury.
This is the danger of being invaded by swarms of people entering our country illegally who are from a different culture and speak a different language with no process to assimilate and ease them into society.
This can only lead to further tragedy, further deaths.

“Integrative Approaches For Cancer — An Interview With Pierre Kory”
A Midwestern Doctor and Pierre Kory, MD, MPA; Aug 29, 2024
EXCERPT: “One of the most common requests I receive from readers is to discuss treatments for cancer. This in turn speaks to a broader issue—despite there being an immense interest in holistic cancer treatments, very few resources exist for patients looking for these options. That’s because it’s been well known for decades within the integrative medical field that the fastest way to lose your medical license is to practice unapproved cancer therapies and over the decades, countless examples have been made of doctors who did so (which sadly go far beyond even what we saw throughout COVID-19).
Note: I’ve also come across numerous cases where a distant relative learned of an alternative or complementary cancer treatment provided to their relative by a doctor, was triggered by it (due to their pre-existing political viewpoints) and then was able to get sanctions directed against the doctor. Most integrative doctors are aware of this and hence often decline to treat patients they are very close to that they know would wholeheartedly support what the doctor is doing because the doctor cannot take the risk of a hostile relative.
In turn, most of the doctors I know who utilize integrative cancer therapies (and have success in treating cancer) only offer this service to longtime patients they have a very close relationship with and explicitly request for me to not send patients to them. This is a shame, because beyond integrative cancer care being almost completely inaccessible to patients, this underground atmosphere both prevents most physicians from being able to have large enough patient volumes to clearly understand which alternative therapies actually work.
Conversely, countless alternative cancer treatments exist outside of America (e.g., in Mexico) which many American patients flock to since they have no alternative, and since these facilities have zero regulatory oversight or accountability, I frequently hear of very reckless approaches being implemented at these sites that none of my more experienced colleagues would ever consider doing (and likewise we often come across numerous critical oversights in those cases).
Note: most of the doctors I know who took up treating cancer with integrative medicine didn’t want to do it because of the risks involved and primarily started because they really cared about some of their patients and felt if they did nothing the patient would likely die. As a result, most of them are “self-taught” and frequently adopt very different approaches to treating cancer.
Since I’ve been quite young (long before I went to medical school) I’ve been fascinated by the alternative cancer therapies (especially those that were buried) and I’ve helped numerous people I knew through the process. From doing so, I gained a deep appreciation for the following: ….”

Well, it appears to have finally stopped raining – at least for the moment – and I can see blue skies to the west. Nice and cool at 74. I’m planning on going down to see my Mom and Michael tomorrow at some point – thankfully, it will be cool! I’m going to take her a picture of the Watson family farm to pass on to Sis’ great-grandson (whose great love is farms) and a lope, even if it’s not quite ripe. And I’ll pick up the 2 inhalers she has that she doesn’t need.
I spent a good long time on the phone with her earlier today. She had to get rid of her cat – he kept biting, like the male he is, and her skin is paper thin; with the blood thinners and her health, she could easily bleed to death so her doctor said he needed to go. He said if she stubbed her toe, she could bleed to death so her blood is pretty thin. But she’s doing well – my cousin came to visit from KS and did a lot of cleaning for her. They also canned tomatoes so Mom has her 8 jars for the winter! Sometimes I think she’s indestructible! But, as she said: we’re tough old broads!
