What does it look like?

Description: 

There are several color forms of the Crimson Rosella. The form it is named for has mostly crimson (red) plumage and bright blue cheeks. The feathers of the back and wing coverts are black broadly edged with red. The flight feathers of the wings have broad blue edges and the tail is blue above and pale blue below and on the outer feathers. Birds from northern Queensland are generally smaller and darker than southern birds. The ‘Yellow Rosella’ has the crimson areas replaced with light yellow and the tail more greenish. The ‘Adelaide Rosella’ is intermediate in color, ranging from yellow with a reddish wash to dark orange. Otherwise, all the forms are similar in pattern. Young Crimson Rosellas have the characteristic blue cheeks, but the remainder of the body plumage is green-olive to yellowish olive (occasionally red in some areas). The young bird gradually attains the adult plumage over a period of 15 months.

Similar species: 

The adult Crimson Rosella is similar to male Australian King-Parrots, but differs by having blue cheeks, shoulders, and tail, a whitish, rather than red, bill and a dark eye. Immature Crimson Rosellas also differ from female and immature King-Parrots by having blue cheeks, a whitish bill and a more yellow-green rather than dark green coloring.

Where does it live?

There are several populations of the Crimson Rosella. Red (crimson) birds occur in northern Queensland, in southern Queensland to south-eastern South Australia and on Kangaroo Island. Orange birds are restricted to the Flinders Ranges region of South Australia, while yellow ones are found along the Murray, Murrumbidgee and neighbouring rivers (where yellow birds meet red birds they hybridise, producing orange offspring). Red birds have been introduced to Norfolk Island and New Zealand.

Habitat: 

Throughout its range, the Crimson Rosella is commonly associated with tall eucalypt and wetter forests.

What does it do?

Feeding: 

Crimson Rosellas are normally encountered in small flocks and are easily attracted to garden seed trays. Once familiar with humans, they will accept hand held food. Natural foods include seeds of eucalypts, grasses and shrubs, as well as insects and some tree blossoms.

Breeding: 

The Crimson Rosella’s nest is a tree hollow, located high in a tree, and lined with wood shavings and dust. The female alone incubates the white eggs, but both sexes care for the young. The chicks remain dependent on their parents for a further 35 days after leaving the nest.

    1. Morning, Pat! Such gorgeous birds! 66 here this morning and windy – it’s been blowing all night! Cloudy again, with more possible light rain today and tomorrow, then hot, hot, hot this week-end. The lopes like hot weather and sun. Wheezer on the chair as usual – gave him his canned food, which he ate before departing. Jake is fine – my hand is still swollen, sore and red but seems to be no worse so far. I think I might try some ice.

    2. Good morning, Pat! Rain expected here in N FL today and tomorrow – high only upper 80s. That will be so nice.

      I’m fixing to get cleaned up, load up and head for the Village for 3 nights and 3.5 days, then if all is stable, will head home for 4 nights and 3.5 days. Still have to remember where I am and where the bathroom is in the middle of the night if I wake up. Not many big or longterm jobs are getting done. Got Sally’s bathroom floor done over 2 weeks going home during time the coatings needed to cure.

      Instead of hauling it all the sewing and cleaning stuff out of the minivan, I left them in case I need them, and will also take the filing folders and labels, etc. in case I get the time, energy and motivation to organize Sally’s medical, equipment and business files. A lot depends on how she’s doing.

        you are such a patient Mom! and it’s good you take things to keep you busy too…lol…like not being busy is ever an issue I’m sure.

        we make a list every summer of things we absolutely want to do before summer’s over and every weekend we try to get one thing crossed off.
        we need to repaint the concrete base that the wood stove sits on. it tends to get scratches and some ash stains occasionally. this is just about the last thing on the list as we thought we’d have at least another month before we start needing fires. well with temps at 45* we might need it sooner than we think!

        1. Do you have to lift the stove to paint it? I guess the concrete is for fire proofing to protect the wood floor from heat and catching fire. Is it wide enough to stack some wood or do you have a special bin for that?

          1. no lifting…thank goodness! it sits high enough off the base so we can easily paint under it. there are smaller bases on each side of the stove–set slightly back. one holds firewood, the other kindling.
            and yes the hearth is for protecting the floors

      2. Thank you, ladies, for all the weather and Real Life updates. Here in Savannah, the sun is rising over the marsh. Looks like a mostly sunny day so far. Various international blog posts or news reports have informed me of news the corporate media ignores. I guess the NYT is accusing Whitney Webb of “anti-semitism” for her book, “One Nation Under Blackmail, about the link between the Jewish mob and Italian bosses, and US history of the 20th century.

          1. This is a common trait in humanity and among animals–to divide and conquer. In the US, we have so many groups and sub-groups that no one seems sble to play wthout choosing one side or the other, often against common enemies. Our political choices are driven by the two-party system, either/or so we are funneled into choosing one or the other. It doesn’t allow for both.

    Just The News: “Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) announced Wednesday that his office has launched an investigation into organizations allegedly registering non-citizens to vote.

    The AG’s Election Integrity Unit found that multiple nonprofit organizations have opened booths outside Texas Department of Public Safety Driver License offices to assist with voter registration. U.S. citizens have the opportunity to register to vote at the offices when they are being issued or renewing their driver’s license or identification card.

    “Texans are deeply troubled by the possibility that organizations purporting to assist with voter registration are illegally registering noncitizens to vote in our elections,” Paxton said in a statement. “If eligible citizens can legally register to vote when conducting their business at a DPS office, why would they need a second opportunity to register with a booth outside? My office is investigating every credible report we receive regarding potential criminal activity that could compromise the integrity of our elections.”

    “The Biden-Harris Administration has intentionally flooded our country with illegal aliens, and without proper safeguards, foreign nationals can illegally influence elections at the local, state, and national level. It is a crime to vote—or to register to vote—if you are not a United States Citizen,” he continued. “Any wrongdoing will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

    In Texas, non-citizens and people who are not residents of the state can face up to a $10,000 fine and a 20-year prison sentence for voting, as well as anyone who helps them vote. Lying about citizenship status or helping someone do so is also a crime punishable for up to two years in a state jail and up to a $10,000 fine.”

  22. Just The News: “Former President Donald Trump clarified his controversial remarks about the Medal of Honor, referring to the military award as “the ultimate” honor the nation bestows.

    Veterans groups and Democratic leaders criticized Trump, now the GOP presidential nominee, after he compared the Medal of Honor last week to the Medal of Freedom, calling the latter “better” than the former, Air Force Times reported.

    “It’s the equivalent of the congressional Medal of Honor,” Trump earlier said of the Medal of Freedom. “But the civilian version, it’s actually much better because everyone that gets the Congressional Medal of Honor, they’re soldiers. They’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets or they’re dead.”

    Trump said this past weekend that his “better” comment was misinterpreted.

    “When I say better, I would rather, in a certain way, get it, because people, they get the congressional Medal of Honor, which I’ve given to many, are often horribly wounded or dead,” he said.

    “And when you get the [military] medal, I always consider that to be the ultimate, but it is a painful thing to get it. When you get the Presidential Medal of Freedom, it’s usually for other things, like you’ve achieved great success in sports, or you’ve achieved great success someplace else,” Trump also said.”

  23. Just The News: “Former President Donald Trump this week expressed his opposition to a Chinese company’s planned electric vehicle battery plant slated for construction in northern Michigan, claiming that it would essentially subjugate the local population to Beijing.

    Gotion is an electric vehicle firm that maintains its headquarters in China. Its planned construction of the plant has attracted legal scrutiny from Green Township, which voted out much of its leadership last year in favor of candidates who opposed the plant. Nonetheless, Gotion secured a court ruling permitting construction to proceed, Fox17 reported in May.

    “A few weeks ago, the Chinese Electric Vehicle battery company that Michigan Democrats support, Gotion, claimed that I support its EV battery plant planned for Northern Michigan. That is not true,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “The Gotion plant would be very bad for the State and our Country. It would put Michiganders under the thumb of the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing.”

    “I AM 100% OPPOSED! As your President, I will make America’s Auto Industry bigger and stronger than it has ever been before, PROTECT American Workers, and TERMINATE the Green New Scam,” he continued.

    The factory has the support of Michigan Democrats, including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.”

  24. Just The News: “Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday told a North Carolina crowd that he is more focused on making sure the 2024 elections are secure than voter turnout.

    Election security has been a major focus for Republicans this election cycle, after Trump and his allies accused Democrats of “stealing” the 2020 election. Trump and his allies have also accused Democrats of engaging in lawfare against Trump by keeping him tied up in court cases and gag orders.

    “Our primary focus is not to get out the vote, it is to make sure they don’t cheat. We have all the votes we’ll need,” Trump said at a North Carolina rally. “We are going to fight like hell to win this election. … They are going to cheat like hell to win the election because they have no bounds.”

    A Trump campaign spokesperson doubled down on the former president’s comments, telling NBC News that they are focused on making the election “too big to rig.” 

    Trump has repeatedly stated that he would accept the results of the 2024 presidential election if everything is done free and fairly. The comments occurred during Trump’s first outdoor rally since he was shot during a rally in Pennsylvania last month. The shooting has prompted heavy backlash against the Secret Service, who are tasked with keeping current and former presidents safe.

    The rally was also the first time Trump used bullet-proof glass on his podium, which was a compromise with the Secret Service, who previously pleaded for Trump to stop his outdoor rallies. However, Trump claimed that indoor rallies limit the size of the crowd.”

So, those, those are the MSM just taking something and spinning it in a way that makes, you know, their chosen political group look good — fake news. 

    With, you know, that being said, we have offered to talk to everybody about what your policies are, who’s going to be in your cabinet? Do you want to hear any of our takes on policy and what might work? We’ve open-sourced our platform very proudly. And I will say that Trump has taken genuine, sincere interest in our policies around chronic disease. He takes it seriously. For that reason, I think it behooves us to sit and see if we can actually make some real change.     Well, isn’t this just great. Not only do we have student loans in our names that we didn’t take out, but now we’re fixing to have medical bills for services never rendered to us. Oh the “joys” of coexisting with Democrats and their voters.

    Now, according to a report from Lauren Irwin at The Hill, part of the “forgiveness” scheme seems to be Murphy’s office collaborating with a nonprofit organization known as Undue Medical Debt (UMD), a group leveraging more than half a million of our dollars from the federal government under the American Rescue Plan, and the people who will receive “forgiveness” will reportedly be individuals who are “four times or below the federal poverty level” or have medical debt that “equal[s] 5 percent or more” of their annual income.

    Now, my first big question is why aren’t these low-income people on the state health insurance plan? Is that because they’re… illegals? Here’s this, from an article at the Gothamist:Shabnam Salih, the director of Murphy’s Health Care Affordability and Transparency Office, told Gothamist that eligible people would start receiving letters in the mail as early as Aug. 19. In New Jersey, about one in 10 people have medical debt that has been referred to collection agencies due to lack of payment as mounting bills become overwhelming, according to Salih. She said this number is ‘about double’ for Black and brown communities across the state.

    “Black and brown” as in the invaders from the sub-Sahara and lower-Americas? I suspect so.

    Of course this isn’t to advocate for the expansion of a socialist program like Medicaid as I vehemently oppose other people receiving “free” healthcare from my labor and skills—we’re literally already paying other people’s medical bills—but to merely point out that something doesn’t quite add up. Furthermore, I can’t exactly figure out how the other $99.5 million is supposed to materialize; the Gothamist leaves it at this, with no additional detail:The administration is utilizing $550,000 in federal funds to wipe out $100 million worth of medical debt.

    This really doesn’t add up.

    How is Murphy accomplishing this clean slate? Debt between patient and facility is a contractual agreement between two-parties, sometimes three with insurance, so is he canceling contracts? Or, is he using taxpayer funds to pay off the outstanding debt?

    My next question is, why does the bulk of this program (“$61.6 million”) apply to one provider, Prime Healthcare? Is that because founder and CEO Prem Reddy is a major donor to D.C.’s heavy-weights, on both sides of the aisle? (OpenSecrets had more than 500 records for him, totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more.) Names like Chuck Schumer, Kevin McCarthy, Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, John Kerry, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, John McCain, etc. can all be found on the list—and just two months ago, Reddy “received the Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award” from the White House. What is really going on?

  35. Ah, yes! Good ole’ Brook – couldn’t put out this week’s paper w/o a zinger directed at me….the “weekly” cartoon shows Gov. Walz on the TV with a woman sitting in a recliner, a cat sitting beside her, saying “But does he like cats?” Relegating my concerns about abortion, letting babies die after a botched abortion, overriding parents’ authority over their children, allowing an entire town to burn, and on and on and on to something so asinine and mundane!!!

    Ha! I was wondering if my new friend, Catherine, would step up to defend me and sure enough – she did just that! I don’t blame her for not taking Brook on directly – she did enough, considering the “fake news” Brook was pushing! “Kudos to Judy ***** for pointing out many things the fake news does their best to hide from it’s viewers about Tim Walz.” Then she laid out 2 columns describing some of his dastardly deeds.

    Based on the advice of toddler scientists, President Joe Biden will soon be announcing a mandate for public schools to exclusively serve Goldfish Crackers. “It’s the snack that smiles back!” Biden said in a statement. “The snack that smiles back! Not a joke! It haunts my dreams.”

    CHICAGO — A 34-year-old male identified as Damien Trevor, an out-of-state attendee at the Democratic National Convention, had his hopes dashed Wednesday when he thought he was waiting in line for a delicious burrito from a food truck but accidentally got a vasectomy instead.

    “I thought it was weird when they asked me to get on the truck and take off my pants, but I thought, ‘eh, this must be a great burrito,'” he recounted.

    According to sources, it was not worth it.

    “I just wanted a burrito!! No!!!” Damien Trevor reportedly cried after being snipped. “Why does this keep happening to me? This is worse than that time I accidentally got an abortion! Who puts a mobile vasectomy center next to a food truck anyway?”

    Witnesses were reportedly empathetic to the plight of Damien Trevor but questioned his intelligence since there was no food signage on the truck. “There was even a sign that said, ‘Free Vasectomies Here!’ in large letters,” said local bystander Joseph Wails as he was getting snipped for free.

    “I just thought a vasectomy was some sort of hot sauce,” Trevor admitted. “I mean, sure, I thought it was weird when they had me sign a waiver, but I just thought it was gonna be really really hot.”

    At publishing time, Damien Trevor was at least thankful he wouldn’t be contributing to global warming by having any children.

  41. Just The News: “The Arkansas Supreme Court on Thursday approved the state’s rejection of a pro-abortion ballot initiative. The state rejected the initiative because organizers reportedly failed to provide proper documentation for hired signature gatherers.

    Arkansans for Limited Government, which sponsored the initiative, disputed the state’s contention and argued it should have received more time to provide additional documentation, the Associated Press reported.

    “We find that the Secretary correctly refused to count the signatures collected by paid canvassers because the sponsor failed to file the paid canvasser training certification,” the court held in a 4–3 decision.

    The initiative would have allowed abortion on demand in the first 20 weeks of pregnancy and abortion after that time for rape, incest, threats to maternal health, or fetal abnormalities inconsistent with life.

    Planned Parenthood declined to back the initiative, viewing it as too limited.”

    Some of you probably rolled your eyes at my prediction. Certainly, this idea wasn’t accepted with confidence by many. Most didn’t even comment about it in the comment section. Why is this?

    We are conditioned to be unable to see a world beyond the controlled and manipulated world in which we currently live. Our expectations are controlled; it’s why so many are easily black-pilled into hopelessness.

    Today people are starting to talk about the concept I wrote about over a month ago, a month before anyone else even considered the possibility of Trump getting rid of income tax. I don’t expect to get any credit for being the first, but I hope this gives the reader more confidence in what I have to say going forward.

    Recently, British Cabal-controlled assets have started insinuating or directly pushing the idea that Trump is controlled by Israel. This is to shift blame from the British Cabal to Israel. The British Cabal runs the Deep State part of Israel, as they also run the Deep State part of Iran.

    Some influencers are pushing the idea of Israel controlling Trump because they are easily misled. They find information they think they weren’t supposed to find, and think they’ve discovered some secret, when in fact they were intentionally led there by the British Cabal. Some influencers are being paid to turn on Trump, while some just lack discernment.

    Anyone who says Trump is ‘the lesser of two evils’ is either genuinely misled, or a paid shill. If you encounter these people, understand they either lack discernment, or they are corrupt. Seriously, stop following them. They’ve given in to the fact that Trump will win this Fall, and they are doing their best to keep people from going all-in on their trust for Trump. They are trying to dampen people’s hopes and expectations. If they can control the public’s expectations, they can control the changes that can and will occur.

This is important because Cowboy Logic are some of the few advocates for January 6 defendants who will even address the fact that we were living with DOJ informants inside the Gulag.

    An entire network of grifters and apologists has been built around January 6 and virtually none of them will tell you the truth about how disunited we were in the DC Gulag after January 6. There was a LOT of division, and it originated with the very people Ken mentions in this video.

    Off the air it’s on those of us who lived through the snitching to speak up about it publicly. I’ve been doing that for months now and will continue to do so. When Ken talks about guys using incendiary rhetoric to incite others, he’s talking about Troy Smocks, Tom Sibick, Jon Mellis, Jake Lang, etc. constantly advocating the assassination of politicians, forming violent militias, and recreating the Oklahoma City bombing.

    Some of the individuals my boy Ken talked about, as bragging about snitching outside his cell, were Jake Lang and Ronald Sandlin, some of the worst chaos agents inside the DC Gulag after January 6. They all repeatedly left out their legal communications showing cooperation with prosecutors as well.

    The Hillary support Ken mentions is Jon Mellis, a liberal who did a decade in prison for running a meth lab. You had Lang admit to being an anarchist, and he worked to cover up that Zach Alam was an Antifa member. The guy who bragged about stabbing a cop in the face was Jon Mellis. The guy who bragged about beating cops with a baseball bat was Jake Lang.

    Not all January 6 defendants are Trump supporters or went to the Capitol on January 6 for the right reasons. Not everybody who’s been incarcerated has been a political prisoner. There are rats who were deployed to entrap innocent people. It’s important for the public to understand that Ray Epps was just on guy in an ocean of agitators.

    And it’s time for J6 advocacy groups to stop being cowards and address the fact that we’ve been infiltrated. That story needs to be told, and I’m grateful Cowboy Logic has the courage to let it be told whenever I or Kenny join them. It’s not “divisive” or “infighting” when you were never on the same side in the first place. I will not advocate for Antifa. I will not advocate for informants. I will not advocate for those who stabbed my friends and I in the back. #J6 #Fedsurrection

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “A manhunt is underway in Arizona, where Cochise County officials are looking for Ronald Lee Syrvud, a 66-year-old man who has threatened to kill a presidential candidate. It’s being reported that the candidate is Donald Trump, and that Syrvud intended to attempt to assassinate Trump today during an appearance in Cochise County.

    The news release states:

    The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a Benson resident who is wanted on several outstanding warrants.

    66 Years of age
    Last known address: Benson

    This subject has outstanding warrants from the state of Wisconsin for DUI / Failure to Appear for DUI and from Graham County Arizona for Hit/Run and Felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. 

    The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office also has an absconder hold for this subject for failing to register as a sex offender.

    Public Safety consideration: Syrvud is being sought as an investigative lead for threats to kill a presidential candidate. 

    If anyone has information on the whereabouts of this subject, call your local law enforcement agency or 9-1-1. 

    At press time, Trump is at the border in Cochise County speaking to Border Patrol agents.”

    #BREAKING Law enforcement in Cochise County are looking for Ronald Syrvud after he made threats to kill President Trump. Syrvud lives in the county and is wanted for failing to register as a sex offender—I am told that when law enforcement went to get him last night, they couldn’t locate him.

    Sheriff Mark Dannels is now asking for help from the public to locate him in hopes of preventing anything from happening today.

    “The powers that be have sent President Joe Biden on vacation to California for the remaining days of the Democratic National Convention (DNC). He is currently tucked away on a five-day vacation at the estate of a billionaire Democrat donor. His schedule over the past two days has been entirely empty.

    Last week, President Biden was on vacation to Camp David. The week before, he was on vacation in Delaware.

    Ever since he was effectively forced to surrender the Democratic nomination to Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden has been missing in action. Sure, before that, he was barely functional, but Biden’s schedule has now reached new levels of absurdity. Yet it looks like this is the game plan for his handlers for the next 151 days until Inauguration Day 2025 arrives.

    Joe Biden is not just a lame duck. He’s not a duck at all. He is the de jure president, but certainly not the de facto president. So who exactly is running the country? Nobody outside of the upper echelons of the Washington D.C. political elite seems to know.

    The president of the United States is rarely seen or heard from these days. And Kamala Harris will be busy until November on the campaign trail, flying around the country to bolster support for her own presidential run.

    There are plenty of rumors that Barack and Michelle Obama hold massive sway over the direction of the Democratic Party. As does the Clinton machine, but to a lesser degree. Yet they’re not the ones calling the shots on a day-to-day basis.

    Some reports indicate that select elements within the White House Domestic Policy Council and the National Security Council — along with prominent outside donor and institutional forces — are calling the shots in the Biden Administration. However, the corporate media and the White House refuse to acknowledge the obvious reality that neither the president nor Kamala Harris is making policy decisions on a day to day basis.

    So that leaves us in the dark entirely. You would think this would be Pulitzer-worthy material for a go-getter journalist, but today’s Pulitzers are granted to those who act as regime sycophants, not independent-minded muckrakers.

    Speaking of VP Harris, she has yet to articulate any major policy platforms for her presidential run. She doesn’t seem particularly interested in policy at all. Her only guiding principle is that she must continue to obtain power. Should Harris secure the presidency in November, we may once more find ourselves in a position of wanting to know who is making these big calls and pulling the strings behind the scenes, because Harris will have delegated all of that work to others, while she sits on the throne and watches the country melt beneath her.

    The American taxpayer deploys almost a trillion dollars a year into defense spending. At the very least, it would be great to know who or what entities are commanding our troops, but we are just not getting those answers.

    In an increasingly hostile and interconnected world, with a multipolar geopolitical environment fast becoming a permanent reality, the American government is without a visible, true command structure. And that benefits almost nobody.”
