Morning, Pat! Temp here is 65 again, still cloudy and breezy. Jake is back to normal – looking out at Wheezer in the chair and complaining before wandering away. No damage that I can see…me, on the other hand – now that’s a different story. The spot on the top of my hand, which I think was from one of Jake’s teeth, is still very, very sore and my hand is swollen and red. I opened up the spot to get it bleeding again, cleaned off the scab, and poured peroxide on it. Then a dab of neosporin and we’ll see how it goes. If the swelling and redness aren’t gone by the end of the day, I’ll head for the clinic tomorrow for an antibiotic.

7 vs 500,000? guess that’s an easy mistake
FTA
Last night, Biden took the Monday night stage spot (a slot that President Trump rightly acknowledged as “Death Valley”) at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, to deliver his “boring as hell” farewell address of sorts, where and his brain-dead cognitive function was on full display—at one point, Biden actually declared that under his administration, 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations had been built across America.
Oh really? E.V. charging stations outnumber gas stations by more than 2-to-1? (For reference, there are approximately 196,000 gas stations in the U.S.) If apportioned by state, this would mean there are 10,000 E.V. charging stations in each of the fifty states.
Where were the fact-checkers?
Allow me to help Snopes and Politifact out and give this a “pants on fire” label. 500,000? Try a grand total of… seven.

three red banners? not exclusive to dems though. author cites republican examples as well at the end of the article
FTA
Kamala Harris says we “exist in the context” of our world around us, so what does that mean for the prominent display of three red banners in political graphics, accompanying candidates promoting communist policy?
First off though, let’s take a look at a Chinese Communist Party slogan from the middle of the 20th century: Three Red Banners.
In 1958, the Chinese Communist Party under Mao Zedong introduced a new political slogan known as the Three Red Banners, representing three distinct facets of the party’s ideology: the “general line” of socialist construction, the Great Leap Forward, and the “rural people’s communes” of China. This political slogan could be found on many Chinese propaganda posters, with the three red banners displayed as three vertical streamers, three fluttering flags, two pillars and the lintel of a doorway, or sometimes even three red lanterns. (For a link to some of the most prominent images, click here.) Below are a few of the verbal slogans that accompanied the visual representations:
“Raise high the three red banners, trust science, rely on the collective, establish socialism”;
“Long live Chairman Mao – Hoist the Three Red banners ever higher – The People’s Communes will last forever”;
“Long live the General Line! Long live the Great Leap Forward! Long live the People’s Communes!”

This is why I pay no attention whatsoever to these stupid polls!
EXCERPT: “Vice President Kamala Harris has enjoyed a noticeable surge in the polls – particularly national polls – since becoming the Democratic standard bearer, but the rapid shift in her position has left some industry analysts questioning the apparent boost in the formerly quite unpopular vice president’s standing. In her 2020 run, she struggled to break 3% before dropping out, according to The Hill.
Prior to becoming the Democratic nominee, Harris suffered from decidedly poor approval ratings and Trump initially held the lead over her in a head-to-head matchup. The average quickly flipped, however, in the wake of several surveys showing Harris ahead. Those surveys, however, have attracted scrutiny from an array of pollsters either due to their lack of transparency about the sampling methodology or from oversampling Democrats.
“So what they’re doing is they’re polling fewer Republicans. They’re polling a disproportionate number of Biden 2020 voters in these states that were dead even,” pollster John McLaughlin said this week on the “Just the News, No Noise” television show.
“They’re trying to suppress our vote”
“They’re saying the Biden 2020 voters should be four or five points higher. It’s ridiculous. So what they’re doing is they’re trying to pump Harris up. They’re trying to suppress our vote. And this is, you know, there’s smart people doing this, so I think it’s intentional.”
Harris currently leads Trump by 1.5% in the RealClearPolitics polling average, with 48.2% support to his 46.7%. She leads by the same margin in a five-way race including the Green Party’s Jill Stein and independents Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Professor of Philosophy and Christian Practice at Union Theological Seminary, Cornel West….”

EXCERPT: “The Detroit Department of Elections hired 2,000+ more Democrats than Republicans as poll workers for the August primary election, similar to prior elections over the last four years and contrary to state law. That law states that election clerks must “appoint an equal number, as nearly as possible, of election inspectors in each election precinct from each major political party.”
Nearly 80% more Democrats were hired as poll workers for Detroit’s primary election this year compared to Republicans. This stark contrast is a trend that has repeatedly occurred over the last four years in Detroit and happened in Flint in 2022, despite state law requiring nearly equal numbers of poll workers from both political parties.
A total of 2,340 Democrats and 308 Republicans worked the Aug. 6 primary election, according to city data shared with Just the News, which was obtained and reviewed by Michigan Fair Elections (MFE), Pure Integrity Michigan Elections (PIME), and the Michigan Conservative Coalition (MCC). There were 2,827 workers in total, making Republicans just 11% of the workers….”

Just The News: “A bipartisan election board in Luzerne County, Pa., found that the number of ballots returned to two drop boxes in the November 2022 election was roughly the amount collected, after reviewing video surveillance footage, despite an earlier review showing significant disparities.
The county board conducted a second review of the surveillance footage after an initial review found that significantly fewer ballots were dropped off than collected from the two drop boxes, the Times Leader reported Monday after the results were released ahead of the board meeting on Wednesday.
The initial review from December 2023 either fast-forwarded and missed voters or didn’t view the entire period of time between drop box collections, according to the board’s chairwoman.
The results of the second review showed that there were more voters and ballots than initially reported, but that there were more ballots returned than voters who dropped them off. The second review further revealed that the number of ballots dropped off were either in line with or close to the number of ballots collected.
In Pennsylvania, voters are required to return their own ballots. However, disabled voters can designate an agent by a form to have them drop off the ballot for them. A designated agent can only drop off one other voter’s ballot unless there are more voters in the same household.
“A number of the voters deposited more than one ballot, there is no way of telling whether or not they had the proper paperwork,” according to the review.
According to the board’s review of the video footage of the two drop box locations, the one at the Pittston Library had 213 voters drop off about 235-241 ballots, and the sheriff had collected 247 ballots from that drop box. There is a one-minute gap between two video files, which the review noted could account for the fewer number of ballots seen dropped off than collected.
At the Misericordia University drop box, where the sheriff collected 130 ballots, the review found 118 voters drop off around 128-132 ballots.
The review also found that no voters revisited the drop boxes and there appeared to be no fraud.”

too many errors in this drop off system. video manipulation is a possibility too. one voter, one ballot. you should only be able to drop off votes for another person during the time the election offices are open so they can review the forms and retain copies of them.

Yeah! I was in the process of opening my Amazon package (Whoopee! That will be worn promptly! My thanks to a great friend!) when I heard Jason drive into my back driveway and start loading up the wood. Getting that all cleaned up will be soooo nice.
He took down the dying peach tree and the stump from the other one, as well as a sapling growing in the middle of the lilac bush. I had 4 large trash cans that contained kindling, some half-full, others full. Since I no longer use my fireplace, that needed to go. I also want to get rid of the 2 bigger rubber trashcans and keep the 2 smaller ones that are on wheels.
One of these days, I’m going to put up a sign next to the road “FREE” and stack all this stuff out there for people to take as they like. A garage sale is more work than it’s worth – been there, done that! I think I’ll put up a notice on the community bulletin board by the PO, too.

Just The News: “The government admitted Wednesday that job creation was much slower than it originally reported, slashing more than 800,000 jobs from its earlier tallies in a devastating report just 24 hours before Vice President Kamala Harris excepts the Democratic nomination for president.
The revision is for estimate of jobs created from spring 2023 to spring 2024, suggesting a “cool off” in the labor market.
The revised estimate stated the U.S. added 2.1 million jobs from April 2023 to March 2024. The original estimate pegged job creation at 2.9 million during that period, Market Watch reported.
Beyond being bad time for Harris at the Democratic Nation Convention in Chicago, the revision may also fuel further criticism of the Biden-Harris administration’s economic policies.
The revision means the U.S. added an average of just 173,000 jobs per month instead of an average of 242,000 per month. The revised figure may lead the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates, consistent with its mandate “to keep inflation low and employment high.”

“Sad: Black People Turned Away In Droves As Democrats Require Photo ID To Enter Convention”
Politics · Aug 20, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
CHICAGO, IL — According to reports, black people trying to attend the DNC were turned away in droves as Democrats required photo IDs to enter the convention.
Despite knowing that black people are not capable of obtaining photo IDs, Democrats inexplicably chose to require everyone in attendance to show identification, leaving thousands of black people unable to enter.
“I wanted to come, but everyone knows I can’t get an ID,” said one black man who was refused entry to the DNC. “You’d think the Democrats would be aware of this fact. This must be some type of big plan to suppress our ability to attend the convention. It’s a shame. I was looking forward to being here, but acquiring an official government-issued photo ID isn’t something people like me can do. At least that’s what I’ve heard.”
DNC officials offered conflicting comments on the controversy. “We would never want to discriminate,” said DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison, who is also black. “We’re here to stand up against the efforts of Republicans to keep the black population from voting by requiring them to show a photo ID, which is why we’re gathering here in Chicago and requiring everyone who enters to show a photo ID.”
At publishing time, Harrison also clarified that the DNC had built a wall around the convention area to keep out anyone it didn’t want present as its leaders gave speeches about how walls are not effective in keeping out unwanted people.

“Hunter Biden Desperately Trying To Offload Leftover Painting Inventory At DNC”
Politics · Aug 20, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
CHICAGO, IL — Amid the excitement of attendees and volatility of protesters outside, Hunter Biden was seen desperately trying to offload his leftover painting inventory at the Democratic National Convention.
The son of the sitting U.S. president and one-time power player in the influence-peddling arena has experienced a sharp decline in the sale of his artwork in recent months following his father’s decision to abandon his bid for re-election, leaving Hunter with overstocked inventory.
“Step right up, people! Nice paintings for sale!” Hunter was heard shouting to passersby at the DNC. “Buy a painting and get some favors done for you on the side! Special DNC prices this week! Everything must go! Support an artist and gain some influence on the global stage! Check out these brush strokes! Come on, folks, I’ve got way too many of these things now.”
Despite Hunter wielding considerable influence for several years, attendees at the DNC showed little interest in his offerings, even at reduced prices. “Nah, no thanks,” said one delegate. “I don’t need any more paintings. It’s not like you have much pull these days, anyway.”
Hunter expressed disappointment and hoped he could unload at least a few paintings before the end of the convention later in the week. “This is my last chance,” he said. “If I don’t sell everything this week, I’ll have to just store all this artwork in my dad’s garage, somewhere next to the classified documents.”
At publishing time, Hunter had reportedly sweetened the deal to include one free night out with a Ukrainian hooker with the purchase of each painting.

Hi Y’all – !
We’ve had a bit cooler weather – not the blast of high heat/humidity index for the last couple of days – ‘sposed to rain tomorrow and Friday….with a high in the mid-upper 80s – yay!!!!
I got home from Sally’s on Sunday about 9pm. I was tired. Monday, I just crashed and didn’t do much of anything. Yesterday, Tuesday, I got the yard done. The Vinca and Torenia in my front bed is finally looking good. These flowers come up from seed each spring – I only have to transplant them and they fill up the bed. However, they got transplanted late – when it was already too hot, so it took it a while to get established.
I made spinach quiches today. When they are out of the oven, I’ll unload the car and take out stuff I won’t need this weekend and repack my clothes, books, and toiletry bags, and reload for any projects coming up this weekend. Only thing I load last minute is food and things that can’t stay out in the hot car very long like meds.
I may leave the sewing and cleaning stuff for another week in case I have an inspiration for sewing or cleaning this weekend. One never knows. It may be a deal with tantrums weekend.
Will head back tomorrow and be back at the Village in time to feed Sally and do her evening care.
We have adjusted the care schedule again – I’ll be working Thu pm-Sun pm after I get Sally ready for bed and Sally’s aide will do Mon-Thu mornings and Mon-Wed evenings. She’s got kids in school, so she needs time to drive them back and forth and weekends at home with her family.
What are your projects today, this week and weekend?

Hi GA!
we’re heading home to spend some time with Mom and get some things done for her.
I fixed her pants and made her a new toaster cover. we got her a new garbage can. my aunt gave her a round metal one that just is too heavy for her to handle anymore. and it has this metal ring inside that supposed to help with the garbage bag, but none of us can figure how it’s easier…lol
hubby’s going to install motion detector lights on her front porch. my brother bought them for her years ago but never got around to installing them. we got a couple of new smoke detectors we want to put up too.
and we’ll see what other little projects she found for us to do.
i made some zucchini bread to take to her and a couple of slices of German chocolate cake I froze that she can eat whenever.
