Wild roses tend to stir one’s thoughts towards Medieval times of knights, kings, queens, princes, and princesses, as many of them date back well into our history. The botanical term for them is “Species Roses.” Though this term does not conjure up the same emotions, it is the classification where you will find them listed or placed for sale in rose catalogs and nurseries. Keep reading to learn more about the types of wild roses and how to grow them in the garden.
Where Wild Roses Grow

In order to grow wild rose plants properly, it helps to know more about them, including where wild roses grow. Species roses are naturally growing shrubs that occur in nature with no help at all from man. Wild species roses are single bloomers with five petals, almost all of them are pink with a few whites and reds, as well as a few that go towards the yellow coloration. Growing wild roses are all own root roses, which means they grow upon their own root systems without any grafting as is done by man to help some of the modern roses grow well in varying climatic conditions. In fact, wild roses are the roses from which all others we have today were bred, thus a special place they do hold in the mind and heart of any Rosarian. Species or wild roses tend to thrive on neglect and are exceptionally hardy. These tough roses will grow in just about any soil conditions, at least one of which is known to do very well in wet soil. These wonderful roses will produce beautiful rose hips that carry over into winter and provide food for the birds if left on the bushes. Since they are own root bushes, they can die way down in the winter and what comes up from the root will still be the same wonderful rose.
Growing Wild Roses
It isn’t difficult to grow wild rose plants. Wild rosebushes can be planted just like any other rosebush and will do best in areas where they get plenty of sun and the soils are well drained (as a general rule). One variety that does well in wet ground, however, is named Rosa palustris, also known as the swamp rose. When growing wild roses in your rose beds, gardens or general landscape, do not crowd them. All types of wild roses need room to expand and grow into their natural states. Crowding them, like with other rosebushes, tends to cut down on air flow through and around the bushes which opens them up to disease problems.
Wild Rose Care

Once their root systems are established in their new homes, these tough rosebushes will thrive with a minimum of wild rose care. Deadheading (removal of old blooms) them really is not necessary and will cut down or eliminate the wonderful rose hips they produce. They can be pruned a bit to maintain a desired shape, again be careful how much of this you do if you want those beautiful rose hips later!
Types of Wild Roses
One of the wonderful wild roses found here in my home state of Colorado is named Rosa woodsii, which grows to 3 or 4 feet (91-120 cm.) tall. This variety has pretty pink, fragrant blooms and is listed as a drought resistant rosebush. You can find this growing happily throughout the mountains west of the United States. When deciding to add one or several of the species roses to your gardens, keep in mind that they do not bloom all season like many of the modern roses will. These roses will bloom in spring and early summer and then are done blooming as they begin setting those wonderful multi-use rose hips. To obtain a rosebush that is very close to its wild rose beginnings, look for an aptly named variety like “Nearly Wild.” This one offers the same beauty, charm, low maintenance, and toughness of a true wild rose but has the added magical kiss of repeat blooming. Part of the charm that wild roses carry is the common names that they have been given over their years of existence. Here are a few types of wild roses you may like to grow in the garden (the year listed is when the rose was first known in cultivation):
Lady Banks Rose – Rosa banksiae lutea (1823)
Pasture Rose – Rosa carolina (1826, Native American variety)
Austrian Copper – Rosa foetida bicolor (before 1590)
Sweetbriar or Shakespeare’s Eglantine Rose – Rosa eglanteria (*1551)
Prairie Rose – Rosa setigera (1810)
Apothecary Rose, Red Rose of Lancaster – Rosa gallica officinalis (before 1600)
Father Hugo, Golden Rose of China – Rosa hugonis (1899)
Apple Rose – Rosa pomifera (1771)
Memorial Rose – Rosa wichuraiana (1891)
Nootka Rose – Rosa nutkana (1876)
Wood’s Wild Rose – Rosa woodsii (1820)

Morning, Pat! Still mostly cloudy here, too, and 65 again. Rained off-and-on all day yesterday. Wheezer spent most of yesterday sleeping on my chair – he went out to do his business then came right back to settle on the chair again. And that’s where he was this morning – I gave him his canned food, he ate it, and right back up into the chair. Guess he’s resting up for his next pursuit…..

I agree with need to clean out the corrupt prosecutors and judges. I believe that clean-up operation is well underway.
The entire lawsuit mess “against” our favorite President was part of that clean-up operation. How do I know? I don’t. But the fact that there were 34 counts against our favorite President should be a tipoff. Why 34? Why that exact number? Seems like an odd number, right? No to the “There is a plan”, “Trust the plan”, “Q” crowd. Me and my tinfoil hat believe that whole thing was a good guy “wake up” operation.
Also, the fact that the lawsuits were completely preposterous and would end up being tossed tells me that entire thing was one big wake up call to the masses. Everyone on all political sides thought the whole thing was a complete maladministration of justice.
We needed to see the depraved lengths the bad guys would go to protect their club. We needed to see how fully corrupt and in need of a top to bottom clean out the justice department is.
Think Kim Foxx and the Juicy Smollett case. Same corruption. Who was Kim friends with?
President Trump and crew caught them. He caught them all. During the court cases, he kept saying it was a form of election interference. Why did he use the term “election interference”? Presidential Executive Order 13848. It gives him and crew the authority to do the necessary house cleaning, peacefully and patriotically in accordance with the rule of law.
We are at war. We are at war with people with have crept in and infiltrated our many, many institutions. We are at war with domestic enemies. Those who took an oath swore to protect against enemies both foreign and domestic. We are witnessing the domestic brand of upholding that oath.
I’m guessing Georgia will be the first state to be presented to show our favorite President won in an overwhelming landslide in 2020. That state will be the “Rainmaker”. Once that state is revealed, all others will follow.
Get the popcorn ready. It’s going to be spectacular!

Democrats Taunt Trump At Trump Tower Chicago Ahead of Convention
Party operatives, armed with a high-powered projector, booked themselves a room across the street from Trump Tower to display the message “Trump-Vance: Out For Themselves” — along with other slogans intended to rankle, rile, and otherwise irritate the candidate — across his 92-story building’s gleaming glass facade.
The slogans “Trump-Vance: ‘Weird
The slogans “Trump-Vance: ‘Weird as Hell,’” “Harris-Walz: Fighting for You,” and “Project 2025 HQ” are also in rotation.

“Democrats Broke the Law by Pushing Joe Biden Out of the Race — If we apply Special Counsel Jack Smith’s interpretation of the “conspiracy against rights” statue included in the DOJ’s J6 indictment of Donald Trump, Biden and the Democrats have committed a crime.”
Julie Kelly, Aug 19, 2024
“On Monday night, Joe Biden will stumble his way through a farewell speech in bidding goodbye to politics after more than 50 years in public office.
Biden undoubtedly plans to offer the same schtick—a caption-necessary combination of self-pity and self-righteousness punctuated by expressions of rage and his signature creepy whisper—as he soaks in his final moments of glory in front of thousands of Democrats assembled at the United Center on the west side of Chicago.
But this is not what Biden wanted. Far from it. His address will be less curtain call and more live hostage video performed under duress by a man taken captive by his own party elites including longtime friends and allies who have essentially chained the ex-presidential candidate to his Delaware beach house to keep him from doing any more political damage.
Biden may speak the jumbo-sized words plastered on the teleprompter but all the while he’ll hear in the back of his head the voice of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: The easy way or the hard way.
And as Americans listen to Biden’s standard unhinged rants about Donald Trump’s so-called “threat to democracy,” it is important to recall that Biden was forced out of the race not by Trump but by top Democratic Party officials including Pelosi, Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
And aside from the unseemliness of it all, what happened to Biden could constitute a federal crime—at least according to Special Counsel Jack Smith.“Rule of Law” for Everyone…Right?
One of four counts in Smith’s January 6-related indictment of the former president is 18 U.S. Code § 241, conspiracy against rights. The statute reads:
“If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States; they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years.”
Smith once again relied on the vague language of a federal statute to argue that Trump’s claims about voting fraud in the 2020 election and plans to delay the certification proceedings on January 6 denied the rights of the (haha) 81 million Americans who voted for Biden. Smith’s indictment accuses Trump of conspiring to “injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate one or more persons in the free exercise and enjoyment of a right and privilege secured to them by the Constitution and laws of the United States—that is, the right to vote, and to have one’s vote counted.” (Emphasis added.)
In announcing the indictment in August 2023, Smith described the conspiracy charge as Trump’s attempt to “disenfranchise voters.” Well, well, well.
Using Smith’s logic, that law now should apply to Congressional Democrats, the corporate news media, and White House officials including Biden himself for violating the rights of 14 million voters who selected Biden during the Democratic primary. By every measure, those parties collectively “disenfranchised” voters by first freezing out potential Democratic primary opponents last spring and officially clinching the nomination in March only to later succeed in strong-arming Biden out of the race when it was clear he would not win.
The criminal conspiracy to violate the voting rights of 14 million Americans began shortly after Biden’s disastrous debate performance on June 27.
For three weeks, Biden, according to sources, vigorously rejected public and private calls for his ouster. One by one, loyal politicians and reporters turned on him. The short-tempered Biden “has been fuming at his Delaware beach house, increasingly resentful about what he sees as an orchestrated campaign to drive him out of the race and bitter toward some of those he once considered close, including his onetime running mate Barack Obama,” the New York Times reported on July 19.
Nonetheless, Biden and his advisors spent the next 48 hours promising that he planned to continue seeking a second term, even announcing plans to return to the campaign trail after a (questionable) bout with Covid.
Then in a Sunday afternoon surprise, with 107 days left before Election Day, Biden quit the race on July 21.
Unlike January 6, July 21 Successfully Disenfranchised Voters
In any other industry or sport, Biden’s decision represented nothing less than conceding victory to Donald Trump. After all, Biden did not say he dropped out due to health problems or other unexpected issues. He quit because he was going to lose and take down other Democratic candidates with him in November.
His spokesman at the time portrayed his boss’s act as one of selfless courage. “The President has spoken to his decision to put country above self and unite his party, as well as the stakes of this moment.”
But that is not why Biden exited stage left. He got the hook.
“What happened was a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was gonna hurt them in the races,” Biden told CBS News sycophant Robert Costa on August 7. “And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic. You’d be interviewing me about, ‘why did Nancy Pelosi say, why did so-and-so,’ and I thought it would be a real distraction.”
Not a distraction. A humiliation. It was all about party and politics and nothing about country. Further, Pelosi’s mob boss tactics also had nothing to do with protecting her friend of 40 years from a brutal campaign or “securing democracy” as she loves to say.
She ruthlessly booted Biden to prevent Trump from winning in what increasingly looked like a landslide victory. “Her goal, she added, was simple: That Donald Trump would never set foot in the White House again,” the New Yorker magazine reported on August 8. “My concern was: this ain’t happening, and we have to make a decision for this to happen.”
We have to make a decision for this to happen.
Quite ironic for a woman who calls the four-hour disturbance at the Capitol on January 6 a plan by Trump to “overturn the election results.” Rather than risk a loss at the polls in November, Pelosi took the losing matter of Joe Biden’s candidacy into her own talons—and subsequently out of the hands of 14 million Americans.
Biden reportedly is still steamed about the “unprecedented mutiny” against him. He and Pelosi have not spoken since he bowed out.
Kamala Harris, the installed replacement who didn’t earn a single vote for president, now is poised to formally accept the party’s nomination on Thursday night. Her speech will represent the culmination of an unprecedented criminal conspiracy—and a successful one unlike what happened on January 6—to steal the Democratic presidential nomination from Joe Biden and deprive millions of voters their chosen candidate.
Where is the Department of Justice when we need it?”

NF: And? Nothing will come of it!!! Useless as teats on a boar hog!
EXCERPT: “The Republican-led House committees leading the impeachment probe into Joe Biden concluded Monday the president engaged in impeachable conduct by helping to enrich his family with millions of dollars in business schemes that traded on his name and then defrauded voters by lying to cover up the scandal.
The House Oversight, Ways and Means and Judiciary Committees said they believe the evidence from their nine-month investigation establishes that Biden abused his office and violated his oaths under the Constitution, according to the 291-page report reviewed by Just the News.
“First and foremost, overwhelming evidence demonstrates that President Biden participated in a conspiracy to monetize his office of public trust to enrich his family,” the committee’s concluded in the the report released the day Biden was to be honored at the opening of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
“Among other aspects of this conspiracy, the Biden family and their business associates received tens of millions of dollars from foreign interests by leading those interests to believe that such payments would provide them access to and influence with President Biden,” the executive summary added….”

“ATF creates arbitrary 90-day window to return bump-stocks to original owners — ATF puts bureaucratic burden on owners for return of their property.”
Lee Williams, Aug 19, 2024
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The ATF has started the embarrassing process of returning bump-stocks to their original owners after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the agency wrongfully determined they were machineguns, but only if the owners act within 90 days.
The ATF sent letters titled “Notice of Opportunity to Request Return of Bump Stock(s) in ATF Custody” last week. They include an address in Washington D.C. and an email that the former owners can contact to arrange for the return of their property. Once the requests are processed, the letter states, “you will be contacted by someone from the local ATF field office to arrange retrieval of your bump stock(s).”
Florida Carry, Inc., purchased an SSAR-15 bump-stock from Slide Fire Solutions, Inc., for demonstration and educational purposes before the ban was enacted. It was surrendered to the ATF “under protest,” and Florida Carry became a co-plaintiff in Guedes v. ATF, along with the Firearms Policy Foundation, Damien Guedes, the Madison Society Foundation, Inc., and Shane Roden.
Florida Carry co-founder and co-executive director, Sean Caranna was, once again, struck by the ATF’s arbitrariness in setting the 90-day deadline.
The ATF letter, which was sent last week to Florida Carry’s General Counsel, Eric Friday, cited the Supreme Court case Garland v. Cargill, stating: “The U.S. Supreme Court held that non-mechanical bump stock — a bump stock that relies on the forward pressure from the shooter’s non-trigger hand to force the rifle and trigger forward after recoil — is not a ‘machinegun’ as defined in the National Firearms Act. Accordingly, you are hereby notified that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is currently in possession of the bump stocks described above in which you may have an interest.”
The ATF never mentioned how the High Court chastised them for flip-flopping on what constitutes a machinegun:
More than a dozen states, including Florida, still prohibit possession of bump-stocks. The ATF warns that the owners will be held responsible for complying with state and local laws once the device is returned.
By arbitrarily establishing the 90-day return window, the ATF has created an internal precedent that it will likely use when it is ordered to return other firearm accessories that were unconstitutionally seized by its agents, including pistol braces, aftermarket triggers and more.”

Western nations are being intentionally flooded with foreigners. Western populations and cultures are being replaced, and radical neoliberal policies are destroying these nations.

oh…your massive flooding story above reminded me.
In all that rain we had in the area last week, a man went “missing”. the local news made it sounds like he could be found somewhere safe and alive. Not true.
my hairdresser knows him and he was checking on an elderly couple during the heavy rains. they were worried about their dog and this man offered to bring him in. the ground where the dog was standing with the man gave way under his feet. (it was near a bend in the flooding creek.)
the elderly couple came out when they heard the shouting, and yelled for the man to let the dog go, but he was intent on rescuing it. he flowed downstream and refused to let go of the dog. in a brief few minutes he was swept into the bulging river and was never seen again.
they found the dog’s body near there, but not the man. they managed to ping his apple phone and got a location–middle of the river somewhere–but divers could not find him or the phone.
this is more a recovery of a body than the rescue of a missing person.
