Butterfly Fish

The butterfly fish are a group of tropical marine fish belonging to the family Chaetodontidae. There are approximately 129 species of butterfly fish that are mostly found on the reefs of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. Butterflyfish look like smaller versions of angelfish (Pomacanthidae), but lack preopercle spines at the gill covers.

Thanks to their beautiful colors and patterns and docile personality, many butterfly fish are popular aquarium fish, and they are often found as pets. The name Chaetodontidae is a combination of two Ancient Greek words: chaite, meaning hair, and odontos, meaning tooth. This is probably a reference to the rows of brush-like teeth in these fishes’ mouths.

This Chaetodontidae family should not be confused with the freshwater butterfly fish (also known as the African butterfly fish). Endemic to the West African region, the freshwater butterfly fish belongs to an entirely different order. The freshwater butterfly fish is more closely related to other African fish in the order of Osteoglossiformes.

Butterfly Fish Characteristics

Butterfly fish are closely related to angelfish and both groups are collectively known as coralfish. Butterfly fish are small fish and most do not exceed 12 to 22 9.7 to 8.7 inches in length. The largest of the species is the lined butterfly fish (Chaetodon lineolatus) and the saddle butterfly fish (Chaetodon ephippium) which grows to 12 inches in length. Butterfly fish are, in general, sexually monomorphic (meaning males and females look alike), although occasionally males have been found to be larger than females.

These fish are named for their brightly colored and strikingly patterned bodies, in shades of black, white, blue, red, orange and yellow. Some species are dull in color. Like patterns seen on butterfly wings, many of the species have eyespots on their flanks and dark bands across their eyes. Their coloration makes them popular aquarium fish, and as they are relatively small, they don’t need a large fish tank to house them.

Butterfly fish have uninterrupted dorsal fins with tail fins that may be rounded or truncated, but are never forked. The dorsal fin on the back sometimes features sharp spines which provide a defense against potential predators.

Their bodies are deep and laterally compressed, which allows them to slip between rocky outcroppings and reef crevices. This, combined with their bright colors, has lead many to believe they are intended for interspecies communication.

These fish also have a protruding snout, varying in length depending on the species, that is tipped with a small mouth. This extended snout allows them to reach inside cracks and holes to feed small organisms hiding within.

Lifespan

Butterfly fish have an average lifespan of between 5 and 10 years.

Diet

Butterfly fish eat mostly small invertebrates such as sponges, worms and plankton.
They’ll also eat coral polyps, algae and sea anemones. They feed during the
day, at the bottom layer of the seabed.

Behavior

Butterfly fish are diurnal animals, which means they are active and feed during the day
and rest on the coral during the night. At night, butterfly fish hide in reef
crevices and their colors can fade to blend and avoid predation.

The smaller species of butterfly fish tend to stay in groups, whereas the larger species
are usually solitary or swim with their mating partner, with whom they mate for
life. The butterfly fish relies on its sight to find prey and communicate with
others.

Reproduction

Butterfly fish are specific about the time of year that they mate; in the tropics, the spawning season usually peaks in winter or early spring, but in temperate climates, the spawning season takes place in the summer.

When the female is ready to mate, her stomach becomes swollen with eggs. The male will come up from behind and gently nudge her abdomen with its snout, and they will release the eggs and sperm together, creating a white cloud in the water. Some males without a mate may swim in and quickly add his sperm to the cloud!

Gestation is only 28 to 30 hours. Butterfly fish play no part in raising their young and instead, the young have a unique larval stage in which they develop a plate of bony armor over the head to protect themselves. This plate eventually extends outward along the back to form spines, which are eventually absorbed into the body.

The young butterfly fish enters a juvenile stage when it has reached the size of a coin, during which period it exhibits different color patterns from its adult form. Juveniles will live within small tidal pools or shallow areas temporarily before moving to the corals.

Butterfly fish form monogamous pairs for at least three years and sometimes even their entire lives. They reach sexual maturity at around a year old.

Location and Habitat

Butterfly fish are mostly found in the coral reefs of the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans, in temperate, tropical and subtropical waters. The greatest concentration of species is found in a stretch of Pacific territory between Australia and Taiwan. Only four species occur in the Eastern Pacific and 13 in the Atlantic Ocean.

Their preferred habitat is the shallow warm water less than 65 feet deep near shores or estuaries, but a few species reside in deep water habitats up to 650 feet. They are well adapted to life in coral reef systems, though a few species also inhabit seagrass beds, lagoons, and mudflats. Young butterfly fish may occupy different areas than adults, such as tidal pools, boulder reefs and shallow areas without coral.

Conservation Status

The exact population of the butterfly fish is unknown, but it is one of the most most common types of coral reef fish in the world. The species is listed as least concern on the IUCN Red List. That being said, they do face threats. The biggest threat to these fish is the destruction of the coral reefs.

The butterfly fish is never caught for food, but it is popular in the exotic pet trade. These animals can make good pets, but they have very specific requirements that can be demanding for the average fish owner.

Predators

The butterfly fish is preyed on by sharks, eels, snappers, and other large fish. Because they are very small, they have the ability to hide in small crevices around coral reefs. Many of the species have also evolved spines, armor, and toxins to deal with threats from predators.

    1. Morning, Pat! I see the debate went as we expected – what a fricking joke! We’ve got mostly clear skies, with a few clouds low in the sky to the west, and 71 – forecast says more rain possible later today but a sunny week-end. Got some wind last night – had to take the hanging plants down – but no rain overnight. Wheezer again ate last night at some point. Jake was out on the sill on the patio and growled at Wheezer as she passed under the west window where he was perched. I put him in the BR and uncovered the doggie door while she sat outside patiently waiting. She came in and ate again, then promptly left so I covered the doggie door again and let Jake out.

I am more convinced everything is a charade.

I never heard a cat growl…I’ve heard them hiss though.
he’s just protecting what’s his–that means YOU and his food…LOL
do you think the dewormer worked?

        1. Oh, they growl, believe me! It usually precedes the hiss because he moves to that when the growl doesn’t work! I haven’t seen any difference in her coat or her weight so I really can’t tell, unfortunately. Her coat is still very rough and dull, w/no shine at all, and she should gain weight….but…who knows? I tried and may have to hit her with another dose but we’ll see.

              1. They can be cautious when “strangers” are around and it depends on the cats involved. Presumably, both are neutered and weren’t alley cats or wild at any point? Jake was a street cat before arriving at the shelter so he was a fighter early on – experiences like that change their entire personality. Very complicated, are cats!

Seriously, I refuse to pretend anymore. It is not okay for a person to take a week in seclusion to prepare for a 90 min debate. On what planet would an avg person think this was normal? Especially if that person happens to be the potus. It’s one of, if not m, the most stressful jobs in the world, and the media acts like it’s normal for him to take a 7 day vacation from the job to prepare for a 90-minute debate. It’s not, and we shouldn’t ever accept it as normal. We should instead see it for what it is. It’s a clear sign flashing in big neon letters that he can’t do the job. He isn’t healthy enough to do the job regardless of the staged performance for 90 mins. We need someone who can work 24/7 if necessary in stressful times. Not someone that has to take a 7 day vacation to do 90mins of work.

Uvalde school police chief Pedro Arredondo and another officer are charged with child endangerment over school massacre that saw shooter Salvador Ramos kill 21

Former chief Pedro ‘Pete’ Arredondo and Adrian Gonzales have been indicted on charges of child endangerment in connection with the tragedy, San Antonio Express News reports.

A total of 21 people composed of 19 fourth graders and two teachers died when shooter Salvador Ramos, 18, opened fire on May 24, 2022.

The police force was heavily criticized in the wake of the shooting, after it emerged that nobody attempted to confront Ramos until 77 minutes after he began his rampage.

Uvalde School District Police chief Arredondo was in charge of the massive law enforcement response on the day, which saw at least 380 officers from various local, state and federal agencies swarm on the school.

IF what Bad Kitty below says is true….

And if the Democrats want to replace Biden – this says in some States it can’t be done.

And if in Nevada, the deadline to change candidates is today – the last FRIDAY in June!

I think they will concede a state or two to President Trump in order to ensure they can “select” a kick ass replacement. what’s a couple of states when they can cheat on every other state in the union?
I disagree that the dems are in a panic. the powers that be, have ALWAYS known the maggot wasn’t gonna finish this thing. they have been planning for a replacement forever imo. this “imagined panic” is all part of the theater. so when he gets replaced, and his replacement then wins, (with their cheating), they can pretend it was organic. that the replacement is charismatic, has great policies–and overwhelmed the voting public. (so we won’t suspect the fraud AGAIN)

  6. good synopsis on why the “hush” money trial was a farce and should be thrown out on appeal.

    FTA
There were two financial accounts referred to in the prosecution. The first is a revocable trust fund for Donald J. Trump which was created just after he became president, and the second is the personal account of Donald J. Trump.

The indictment indicates that Trump received invoices from Michael Cohen where each invoice was then added to the general accounting ledger with a voucher number, and then a check was issued to pay each invoice.

11 counts of the indictment are for receiving invoices from Michael Cohen. The first invoice covered two months (January and February), and the other 10 invoices covered one month each for legal services. How anyone can even suggest that receiving an invoice is falsifying a business record is nonsensical—Joe Hoft at joehoft.com pointed out that this is comparable to being in receipt of a bill for electricity. Yet, Trump was found guilty on all eleven counts for falsifying business records for receiving invoices.

Two invoices were added to vouchers in the trust fund ledger, and the other nine were added to vouchers in the personal account ledger. How anyone would suggest that this is falsifying business records is questionable. These were ordinary and customary procedures by bookkeeping clerks to enter invoices into accounts payable vouchers.

Another 11 counts of the indictment are for paying the invoices with checks from the trust fund (2) and from the personal account (9) of Donald J. Trump. Apparently, paying an invoice with a check can be a felony in Manhattan.  Again, Trump was found guilty on all eleven counts.

Every count of the indictment has this phrase:

[W]ith intent to defraud and intent to commit another crime and aid and conceal the commission thereof, made and caused a false entry in the business records of an enterprise [emphasis added]….

Clearly receiving invoices and writing checks are not falsifying business records, but the major problem with this case is that the prosecution, the judge, and the jury have conflated the personal accounts of Donald J. Trump with the enterprise business accounts of the Trump Organization. The checks that were written to Michael Cohen did not come from the Trump Organization, and the only connection is that President Trump was using the accounting division of the company he founded and owned to manage his personal accounts.

  9. Just The News: “A nation hungry for solutions to its woes got a heavy dose Thursday night of prescriptions from a confident and concise Donald Trump in the first presidential debate of 2024 while the man who succeeded him in the White House alarmed his own Democrat ranks with a steady stream of mumbles, blank stares and major bumbles.

During 90-plus minutes, voters got a stark contrast in the policies and stamina of the two major party candidates as the 81-year-old Joe Biden gave his critics a sizzle reel of blunders sure to fill attack ads for weeks to come.

At various consequential moments, Biden claimed “we finally beat Medicare,” acknowledged black voters had a right to be angry because inflation was still hurting them “badly” and managed to insult veterans by falsely claiming no soldiers had died on his watch, clearly ignoring the 13 Marines killed during the bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan on his watch in 2021.

But the verbal gaffes were overshadowed even more by eye-wrenching optics – the visuals that have matter in every debate since the 1960 contest between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon – that made Biden look weak and frail.

The 46th president’s voice sounded raspy and weak (his team blamed a summer cold), he frequently mumbled or halted through lines designed to defend his records and at times he launched attacks on Trump that had long been debunked even by liberal fact-checkers.

Even his exit from the stage at night’s end went viral in the negative sense as his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, seemed to be guiding a frail man grasping for help.

There’s little doubt Trump won the first debate. But the bigger consequence of one of the earliest presidential debates in history was the panic Biden’s performance fueled inside his own party and the debate that was renewed instantly about whether the incumbent should be dropped from a ticket just weeks after winning the necessary delegates.

Politico, the influential  Beltway news site famous for anonymous quotes, blared a headline even before the debate was over suggesting that Biden was “toast.” Former Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang openly called from Biden’s ouster. And even the faithful pundits that have championed the Biden presidency were sounding alarm,

“That was painful,” Democrat adviser and CNN analyst Van Jones declared. “I think there was a sense of shock,” former Obama adviser David Axelrod declared, describing Biden’s halting start to the debate. CNN political reporter John King, who has covered every presidential race since the 1980s, declared Biden’s performance a “game changing debate” that was prompting talk of a Democrat coup to remove Biden or encourage him to step aside.

Biden showed no signs of exiting. Afterward, he went on the X social platform to attack Trump anew and raise money.

“Donald Trump spent the night talking about himself, his lies, his legal woes, his affairs with a porn star, and his golf championships at his own club. What a bunch of malarkey. Together, we can keep him out of the White House,” the president wrote.

On the flip side, Trump was energetic, focused and seized upon a format that limited answers to one and two minutes. He landed his answers in the timeframes and turned around any question he didn’t like (Jan. 6, accepting the results of the next election, etc.) to remind voters of the difference in his and Biden’s records on the two I’s that matter most: inflation and immigration.

“His presidency, without question, the worst president, the worst presidency in the history of our country. We shouldn’t be having a debate about it. There’s nothing to debate,” he said at one point.

And perhaps in one of his most important moments of the night, Trump flipped the script on who is harming women the most after months of Democrat attacks on conservative abortion stances. He declared he absolutely supported exceptions to any abortion bans for rape, incest and saving the life of a mother and suggested Biden was proving more dangerous to women with an open border policy that has led to increasing rapes and murders of woman and girls as young as 12.

“There have been many young women murdered by the same people he allows to come across our border. We have a border that’s the most dangerous place anywhere in the world – considered the most dangerous place anywhere in the world,” Trump declared.

“And he opened it up, and these killers are coming into our country. And they are raping and killing women, and it’s a terrible thing,” he added.

There was one other clear verdict by night’s end. Americans seemed to fancy CNN’s new format that kept answers to two minutes or less, didn’t let moderators fact check candidates and cut off microphones when the clock ran out.”

  10. “The Trump v. Biden presidential debate was no simple debate. It was a coup.”[Opinion]

    CODEMONKEYZ, JUN 28, 2024

    The Democrats are fractured.

One of their factions is trying to remove President Biden while another distinct faction is trying to hold on to their jobs and administrative legacy.

Unbeknownst to most, CNN has seemingly been calculating a plan to show the world that President Biden is sundowning. Instead of just hosting a debate, a magnificently executed political hit job masterclass was also held.

    CNN foreshadowing? [source]

By simply comparing President Trump’s relatively quick mental acuity to President Biden, the world now knows that President Biden is a geriatric who may or may not be lucid.

CNN removed the political training wheels that they have afforded President Biden’s campaign over the past few years to take the opportunity to decisively unplug his campaign’s metaphoric life support.

Immediately following the debate, CNN gathered about a dozen top Democrat strategists and had them all in lock-step agreement that President Biden should step down. The next two weeks will be pivotal for President Biden as his campaign will face pressure from all angles to step down to make room for the DNC to run a different candidate who they feel may actually have a chance of going toe-to-toe with President Trump.

President Trump should take the debate as an easy-win, but it does mark a potentially bumpy path ahead for his campaign. A path that depends on who exactly the DNC will nominate as their candidate.

At the Democratic National Convention on August 19 in Georgia, the DNC will announce their candidate. The DNC rules for choosing candidates is really loose and they could announce almost anybody, even someone who has not campaigned at all this year.

  13. Jill’s presidency could be defined as “ignorant with initiative”

At this point, Joe Biden is nothing more than the village idiot. But Jill Biden—she is an “ignorant person with initiative,” as described by Napoleon (see the meme above). She has seized the reigns of power, and the Cabinet has a duty to ensure that the next seven months are free from the dangers of having an imbecile as President and his wife, who was not elected, acting as Commander-in-Chief.

Of course, as Biden’s support crumbles nationwide, so do the chances of Democrats maintaining the majority in the Senate and not falling even more behind in the House. Now, the pressure is on to replace him. At this point, with the acting Commander-in-Chief (Jill) Biden as the president, she has no plans to let him go “quietly into the night.”

Hence, the 25th Amendment is the only viable solution for the Democrat party.

    (Video)

Politico is advocating for an open convention

This is not a good look.

The alarm bells for Democrats started ringing the second Biden started speaking in a haltingly hoarse voice. Minutes into the debate, he struggled to mount an effective defense of the economy on his watch and flubbed the description of key health initiatives he’s made central to his reelection bid, saying “we finally beat Medicare” and incorrectly stating how much his administration lowered the price of insulin. He talked himself into a corner on Afghanistan, bringing up his administration’s botched withdrawal unprompted. He repeatedly mixed up “billion” and “million,” and found himself stuck for long stretches of the 90-minute debate playing defense.

And when he wasn’t speaking, he stood frozen behind his podium, mouth agape, his eyes wide and unblinking for long stretches of time.

But the Politico article actually doesn’t explain how this could happen. Biden has an estimated 1,866 delegates out of the 1,968 needed to clinch the Democratic nomination. Therefore, it seems rather naive.

Karine Jean-Pierre: “The debate was shot at all the wrong angles to make the president less presidential. CNN has a lot of explaining to do!”

What will they think of next?

Just blame it all on “a cold.”

Rumor has it that the dem operatives called every media outlet to tell them to say Biden has a cold, and so this debate and his dementia don’t really count. This is now the talking point, being dutifully repeated.

(It must have taken an enormous number of botox injections to get “that look!”)

This circles back around to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., waiting not so patiently in the wings.

The Democrat party would be crazy not to give Kennedy a second look and put him on the ticket as VP, as Kamala will have to go on as the Presidential candidate.

But wait, they can’t do that! ‘Cause RFKennedy Jr scares the pants off of the fascist-globalist private-partnerships (G3P) and their intelligence community attack dogs. Who are the ones who will actually decide what happens to Biden in the coming months.

  16. https://www.axios.com/2024/06/27/trump-immunity-decision-debate-scotus

Our Take: We didn’t get a ruling in President Trump’s immunity case prior to the debate, so it will likely come in today or Monday, as the court usually completes its work by the end of June. They released four rulings on Thursday:

    1. SEC vs. Jarskey: The court held that defendants are entitled to a jury trial under the 7th Amendment when the SEC seeks civil penalties for securities fraud. Hooray for the Bill of Rights.
    2. Harrington vs. Purdue Pharma: A bankruptcy case where the court held that the bankruptcy code does not allow the discharge of affected claimants’ interests without their consent.
    3. Moyle vs. US: The court denied various writs on Idaho’s abortion ban, and vacated the injunctive stays, finding that those actions violate the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act. Alito’s dissent in this is worth a read.
    4. Ohio vs. EPA: A case challenging overreach by the EPA based on 20 states’ air quality compliance, SCOTUS stayed the EPAs actions until the challenge is through the D.C. Circuit Court. Not a great jurisdiction for challenging Federal overreach.

The SCOTUS calendar this session is a stark reminder that our rights are under assault every day. We’re still awaiting a couple big rulings but, regardless of which way they go, we can expect the court itself to be a significant topic during the remainder of the campaign. — Ashe in America

  17. Badlands Special Coverage of the 1st 2024 Presidential Debate

    https://rumble.com/v540l6k-badlands-special-coverage-of-the-1st-2024-presidential-debate.html

Our Take: This debate was about presence, not policy. And it exceeded even my wildest fever dreams regarding the disparate demeanors on display.

Keep in mind, while the Truth Community is orders of magnitude larger than it was pre-Trump & pre-Q, we still exist in an informational bubble within a bubble, which is largely defined by being further along an informational timeline (h/t Chris Paul) than our fellows, even within the MAGA normiesphere.

Extend that out to the Normie Layers of the Collective Mind watching Joe Biden fumble his way through the barely-maintained ability to form sentences, nevermind coherent thoughts while Donald Trump is seen considering his opponent, considering the questions and considering his answers.

None of this approaches the intricacies of policy, geopolitics or game theory, because we’re not the audience for this debate. This debate was a binary. The American people are being asked how they feel about the state of the country, and about the state of its leadership.

Our Take: Moving forward, we should always refer to the CIA as the State Department, to gaslight the naive public into understanding how sinister and duplicitous that agency is. The State Department is using their mercenaries to attack Russia and destabilize America.

ISIS is not a “radical Islamic terrorist” organization. I know this because I have personally interviewed two separate veterans who served on High-Value Target (HVT) teams, one in Afghanistan and one in Iraq, and both said that in ten years of raiding ISIS safe houses to extract terrorist leaders, they never once found a Quran or any Islamic prayer materials.

They never found any evidence that a single Muslim lived at any of these locations. What they did find was an abundance of western pornography, video game consoles, DVD’s, and other “contraband” that would be extremely difficult to acquire in remote parts of the Middle East—unless you had friends in the West.

President Putin has also said on multiple occasions that ISIS fighters are highly-paid mercenaries, not religious zealots. (This is exactly what the two HVT veterans told me, as well. They go out and find the degenerate losers in any village, and offer them US cash to join their gang.)

[Video of Putin, as well as other videos mentioned: https://badlands.substack.com/p/badlands-news-brief-b40]

The State Department has been waging kinetic war against the Sovereign Alliance for years. Now, it appears they intend to wage kinetic war against the American People on US soil.

Now is not the time to panic. Now is the time to keep a cool head. Those who panic are the ones who will lose. Whenever chaos erupts, always look for the guy in the room who is calm. He is the one who is going to make it. Be that guy. — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

  19. https://www.newsweek.com/supreme-court-allows-emergency-abortions-idaho-1918346

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that emergency abortions in Idaho can proceed. Hospitals in the northwestern state are now permitted to perform emergency abortions when a patient’s health is in serious jeopardy.

The decision leaves significant questions unresolved and potentially positions the issue for another review by the conservative-majority court.

This news comes nearly two years after the historic reversal of Roe v. Wade. Since then, Idaho became one of 14 states to impose a total ban on abortion at all stages of pregnancy, with only very narrow exceptions.

This ruling follows an unusual incident where an opinion was briefly posted on the court’s website by mistake and then swiftly removed. Bloomberg News obtained it before it was deleted. The final opinion closely mirrors the draft that was inadvertently released. It reverses a previous court order that permitted Idaho’s abortion ban to be enforced even in medical emergencies.

However, the decision does not address the fundamental issues of the case, suggesting that the justices who previously voted to overturn Roe v Wade may soon reexamine the conditions under which doctors can perform abortions in medical emergencies. — Newsweek

In a major vote of confidence for Elon Musk’s SpaceX, NASA has awarded the private space company a contract worth nearly $1 billion. This contract is for developing a “Deorbit Vehicle,” which will be responsible for steering the International Space Station out of orbit by the end of the decade.

“NASA announced SpaceX has been selected to develop and deliver the US Deorbit Vehicle that will provide the capability to deorbit the space station and ensure avoidance of risk to populated areas,” the space agency wrote in a press release.

The ISS, launched in 1998, recently extended its operational life from 2024 to 2030. Russia plans to withdraw from the ISS in the coming years and focus on building its own space station. The Deorbit Vehicle will steer the ISS into the Pacific Ocean.

“Selecting a US Deorbit Vehicle for the International Space Station will help NASA and its international partners ensure a safe and responsible transition in low Earth orbit at the end of station operations. This decision also supports NASA’s plans for future commercial destinations and allows for the continued use of space near Earth,” Ken Bowersox, associate administrator for Space Operations Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, wrote in a press release.

  21. This is very good news! Past time to rein in those regulatory agencies!!!

Just The News: “The Supreme Court on Friday overturned a landmark decision that gave federal agencies broad regulatory power.

The decision on the so-called, 40-year-old Chevron decision upends the agencies’ authority to issue regulations unless Congress has spoken clearly, according to CBS News.

The court split along ideological lines in the dispute, with Chief Justice John Roberts writing for the conservative majority, the news outlet also reports.”

2nd ruling from today; Grants Pass vs Johnson; 6-3, majority opinion by Gorsuch. 74 pages.

Where the advocates for the homeless sued when Grants Pass, Oregon wanted to keep homeless from camping in city parks and the courts all ruled that municipalities can’t kick homeless camping from city, or county property because they said it was cruel and unusual punishment under the 8th Amendment.

The homeless advocates lost. The court held “enforcement of generally applicable laws regulating camping on pubic property does not constitute “cruel and unusual punishment” .

In a massive victory for J6 political prisoners and an unprecedented defeat for the corrupt Biden/Garland/Monaco/Graves DOJ, SCOTUS has overturned the DOJ’s use of 1512(c)(2), obstruction of an official proceeding, in J6 cases.

THIS MEANS THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE HAS UNLAWFULLY PROSECUTED 350+ AMERICANS FOR THEIR PARTICIPATION IN JANUARY 6–A FLAGRANT ABUSE OF THE LAW TO PUNISH THOSE WHO PROTESTED BIDEN’S ELECTION AND TO CRIMINALIZE POLITICAL DISSENT.

Jonathan Turley has just tweeted that “…for Trump this ruling RIPS THE WINGS OFF (emphasis mine) off the plane that Jack Smith has been trying to take off in DC. In an ordinary case, there would be a superseding indictment. Smith may try to go forward on the remaining counts. However, it is hard to see how the indictment holds together after this decision…”

The unstable, precarious 4-legged stool on which this vile evil administration has been balancing and on which it has criminally staked all are breaking one by one.

      1. Unfortunately, they left an “out!”

Just The News: “A Supreme Court ruling on Friday limits the scope of obstruction charges against Jan. 6, 2021 rioters, which is the same charge former President Trump faces in his 2020 election interference case.

The high court ruled that the Department of Justice went too far with its obstruction charges of rioters.

According to the ruling, obstruction could still be charged if prosecutors can prove that rioters were intentionally trying to stop the arrival of certificates used to certify electoral votes at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

Special counsel Jack Smith filed the same charge against Trump. Despite the ruling, Smith is likely to continue to pursue the charge.”

Justice Roberts said that Monday, July 1, 2024, will be the last day before the Court goes on recess, so final rulings will be given this coming Monday.

am assuming those cases include President Trump’s cases, Presidential records act or Executive Privilege, and the ones still to be decided like Bannon’s appeal, will be known then?

  26. “Supreme Court Overturns DOJ’s Use of Key J6 Felony Court — Today’s decision means Attorney General Merrick Garland and federal judges in Washington wrongfully prosecuted roughly 350 J6ers with the post-Enron felony”

    JULIE KELLY, JUN 28, 2024

EXCERPT: “In a devastating but well-deserved blow to the Department of Justice’s criminal prosecution of January 6 protesters, the U.S. Supreme Court today overturned the DOJ’s use of 18 USC 1512(c)(2), the most prevalent felony in J6 cases.

The statute, commonly referred to as “obstruction of an official proceeding,” has been applied in roughly 350 J6 cases; it also represents two of four counts in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s J6-related criminal indictment of Donald Trump in Washington.

In a 6-3 decision, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the “c2” subsection is tethered to the “c1” subsection that addresses tampering with a record, document, or “object.”
