According to the boisedev.com, the Idaho state flower has an interesting scientific name. Read on find out what it is!
FROM BOISEDEV.COM:
Spring has sprung, and that means flowers are blooming across the state. One type of flower you’ll see is the syringa, designated the state flower of Idaho by the legislature in 1931.
Flowering late May through July, the syringa blooms in groups and often resembles a snowy mountainside.
It grows best in medium-dry to moist soil along streams, rocky talus, dry ravines, and canyons. According to US Forest Service, the syringa can be found across the state and most abundantly in the Boise National Forest near Idaho City and the canyons around Anderson Ranch Reservoir.

It’s a woody shrub that grows 8 feet tall and has clusters of white and yellow flowers. While it’s most commonly known as the syringa, it’s also called mock orange because the flowers have a strong smell similar to orange blossoms – hence the name.
The flower’s scientific name is the Philadelphus lewisii – after Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It’s said that Lewis wrote about the flower in his journal and collected them in the early 1800s as he explored the state. According to the Bureau of Land Management, other flowers in Idaho that are named after Lewis and Clark include the Lewis’s monkeyflower, the Bitterroots, the Lewis’s flax, and the beautiful clarkia.
Also, according to the US Forest Service, Native Americans used the syringa’s straight, sturdy stems to make arrows, pipe stems, and combs.

The Idaho state flower is very unusual. I’d love to see and smell it to see how it compares to the orange blossom.
Here’s a map of the state flowers – a couple of neighboring states have the same flower.

Alabama Democratic Party: DNC ‘did not want Blacks in Alabama to elect delegates of their choice’
In today’s statement, Randy Kelley claimed that all proposed delegates to the 2024 DNC were appointed, while no other state had the entirety of their delegates chosen for them.
“The illegal Delegates were appointed because those who appointed the false delegates did not want Blacks in Alabama to elect delegates of their choice. Since the black Democratic voting population in Alabama constitutes over 70% of the Democratic Party vote, it is clear the outcome of this action is to deny Black Democrats and the Black chairman of the Party an opportunity to elect delegates of their choice,” Kelley wrote.

A very basic fried pastry recipe – most Mexican sopapillas are bigger and shaped roughly like turnovers with honey to drizzle over them and powdered sugar on top. I just cut the dough into small 2-3″ squares and fried up little bite-size “puff pillows,” which is what HB called them. Then I rolled them in cinnamon sugar.

my aunt, God rest her soul, made these deep fried twisted dough things covered with powdered sugar (called German pretzels btw) for my wedding. She was NOT a baker but she wanted to make something–I’m named after her.
She made them and stored them in a Charles Chip can–that was big back then. When we opened the can, they were gorgeous, but the smell of stale smoke wafted out. we put them on the dessert table and whenever she wasn’t looking, my cousin made sure to take a plateful and dump them because everyone was turning their noses up because of the smell. it was a shame, but we didn’t want to hurt her feelings.

Just The News: “The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a settlement with OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma that would have shielded members of the Sackler family, which owns the drug company, from civil lawsuits over the toll of opioids.
The settlement also would have billions of dollars to combat the opioid epidemic, according to the Associated Press. The high court made the decision in a 5-4 vote.
The justices blocked an agreement reached with state and local governments and victims. The agreement required the Sacklers to contribute as much as $6 billion and given up ownership, but members still would have been allowed to retained billions more, the wire service also reports.”

About the Sackler family silently removing $11 billion from the pharmaceutical company Purdue as it filed for bankruptcy. This is the OxyContin maker. They offered to return $4.3 billion if the bankruptcy court would hold them harmless from any future claims. The Supreme Court said, no, bankruptcy doesn’t work that way.

“Trump-aligned Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò Facing Persecution By Vatican For Upholding Truth In The Face Of Great Confusion Under The Pontificate Of Francis — The smoke of Satan has entered the Church of God.”
PAUL INGRASSIA, JUN 27, 2024
EXCERPT: “His Excellency, The Most Reverend Carlo Maria Viganò, Archbishop of Ulpiana, has been summoned into Rome by Vatican officials to face an extrajudicial hearing – what is in effect an expedited trial – tomorrow for accusations of schism from the church of Pope Francis. The charges are grave: the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith has accused the Archbishop for having denied the legitimacy of Pope Francis, a rupture of communion with the current pontiff’s church, and for rejecting the Second Vatican Council – the ecumenical council that took place in the early 1960s which modernized (critics would contend irremediably transform) the liturgy and sacraments to the point of almost creating an entirely new church.
For his part, the Archbishop denies that he is a schismatic. In his view, the church presided over by Pope Francis represents the culmination of decades of errors which have their roots in the Second Vatican Council. In a recent letter, he analogized the history of the Church over the last sixty years to a cancer patient. Archbishop Viganò believes Pope Francis to be the “necessary metastasis” of “the ideological, theological, moral, and liturgical cancer” of the Vatican II reforms.
In this regard, Archbishop Viganò has found parallels in his situation to another great churchman who was likewise accused of schism some fifty years ago, the French Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (1905-1991), who went on to found the Society of Saint Pius X in 1970 after having raised similar objections to Vatican II.
“His defense is mine,” the Archbishop wrote in an open letter post on Exsurge Domine. “[A]nd his words are mine; and his arguments are mine – arguments before which the Roman authorities could not condemn him for heresy, having to wait instead for him to consecrate bishops so as to have the pretext of declaring him schismatic and then revoking his excommunication when he was already dead.” ………..”

Just The News: “The Supreme Court reined in the federal administrative state in two major cases Thursday, declaring the SEC could not deprive securities fraud defendants of a jury trial and the EPA could not impose new pollution roles without congressional blessing.
In the case related to the Security and Exchange Commission, whose primary mission is to protect the investment markets and its investors, the high court stripped the federal agency of a major tool in fighting securities fraud, according to the Associated Press.
The justices in a 6-3 ruling said people accused of fraud by the SEC have the right to a jury trial in federal court. The in-house proceedings the SEC has used in some civil fraud complaints violate the Constitution, the court also said, the wire service also reports.
In the case regarding the Environmental Protection Agency, the court temporarily blocked the federal agency’s “Good Neighbor Plan,” drafted to ensure compliance with the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards law.
In a 5-to-4 vote, the court ruled that the emissions-reductions standards set by the plan were likely to cause “irreparable harm” to almost half the states unless the court halted the rule pending further review by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, according to National Public Radio.
To fulfill the law’s mandate, the EPA required “upwind” states to reduce air pollution affecting “downwind” states. States are first given the opportunity to create a plan that complies with agency’s ozone guidelines. But if a state fails to submit an adequate plan, the agency then designs a compliance plan for the state.
The EPA last year determined 23 states had not provided sufficient plans, then decided to implement its own emissions-control program for them. Ohio and several other states along with large industrial companies, and trade associations, challenged the EPA plan in court, arguing the the agency’s “dictatorial approach” failed to adequately consider the legal and practical implications of substituting its own plan for the state plans, NPR also reports.”

In a hearing this week in FLA, Jack Smith’s prosecutor admitted the special counsel has “permanent, indefinite” tax money to fund his prosecutions against Trump.
Judge Cannon pushed back, asking about a “cap” and whether it was “limitless.”
DOJ: No cap and yes it’s limitless.
This answer by Johnson is not just insufficient but inconsistent with the budgetary oversight obligations of Congress.

Just The News: “The House Judiciary Committee released transcripts Thursday of interviews with eight intelligence officials who were among the 51 signatories of the infamous letter labeling reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop as a potential “Russian information operation.”
The transcripts show one letter drafter intended the 2020 letter to be a way to give then-Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden talking points for his debate with President Donald Trump.
Former CIA Director’s John Brennan and Michael Morell and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper were each interviewed by the committee. They each served as senior intelligence officials during the Obama Administration.
Morrell, who helped draft the statement, told to the committee his purpose was two-fold, to warn Americans about the danger of Russian influence in the elections and to help Biden politically. “I think of it as two motivations,” he said. “You know, one, let the American people know about what we saw as a deep suspicion of Russian involvement; and then, two, helping the vice president.”
Biden was the vice president in the Obama administration. “You wanted to help the vice president, why?” Jordan asked. “Because I wanted him to win the election,” Morell answered. You can read Morell’s interview transcript here:
Morell Transcript_Redacted.pdf
Earlier this week, the CIA admitted that Morell and one other former employee were contractors of the agency during the time period when the letter was drafted, the Judiciary Committee said in a new report. You can read all eight transcripts here.
Brennan told the committee that even if others were motivated to sign the letter to help the former vice president in the election, he only wanted to bring attention to the “potential” for Russian interference in the election.
“That may have been the intent of the drafters of that email, even the drafters of the statement itself,” Brennan said of Morell’s reasoning. “But my intent, as I mentioned, I wanted to bring attention to the potential for Russian interference in the Presidential election once again, because I had firsthand knowledge of their interference in the 2016 Presidential election,” he added. Though he also said the signers had no actual evidence of a Russian hand in the information stemming from the laptop.
You can read Brennan’s transcript here: Brennan Transcript_Redacted.pdf
Biden successfully used the letter to deflect from accusations stemming from evidence found on his son’s laptop. “Look, there are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plan. They have said that this has all the characteristics – four, five former heads of the CIA, both parties, say what he’s saying is a bunch of garbage,” Biden said.
“Just the News” previously reported that Morell testified a phone call from then-Biden campaign official Antony Blinken triggered the effort to draft the letter, further highlighting the political nature of the statement. “

These diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives are the office’s guidebook for filling “approximately fifty openings each year for legal staff positions.” Similarly, the application for a Law Clerk position requires applicants to disclose their race, ethnicity, and gender and an option to select “LGBT” but no option to select heterosexual.
If Mr. Bragg and his colleagues are demographically balancing the Manhattan District Attorney Office’s employees, they knowingly violate state and Federal non-discrimination laws.
Under Bragg’s leadership, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office appears to engage in unlawful, deeply harmful, immoral employment practices. America First Legal is committed to holding each official accountable to the rule of law they swore to uphold. The NY Attorney Grievance Committee should investigate these allegations immediately.
Statement from Dan Epstein, America First Legal Vice President:
“No American workplace is permitted to discriminate based on race or sex. That is illegal. We should expect that those who carry out law enforcement are held to the highest legal compliance standards. Under Alvin Bragg’s leadership, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office appears to have fallen below those high standards and unlawfully discriminated against employment applicants to his office. Lawyers are guardians of the Constitution and the law; compliance with the highest ethical standards is necessary to serve those who need access to justice with fidelity. “ said Dan Epstein
