On March 25, 1975 Idaho Governor Cecil Andrus signed a bill naming the Appaloosa, as Idaho state horse. This is a deserving honor for a horse that has been an integral part of Idaho history.
The Appaloosa has a very long history. Spotted horses have been seen in art as far back as cave drawings 20,000 years ago. The Appaloosa was seen in ancient Persian literature as the horse of a great Persian hero.
The Appaloosa is a horse breed best known for its colorful leopard-spotted coat pattern. There is a wide range of body types within the breed, stemming from the influence of multiple breeds of horses throughout its history. Each horse’s color pattern is genetically the result of various spotting patterns overlaid on top of one of several recognized base coat colors. The color pattern of the Appaloosa is of interest to those who study equine coat color genetics, as it and several other physical characteristics are linked to the leopard complex mutation (LP). Appaloosas are prone to develop equine recurrent uveitis and congenital stationary night blindness; the latter has been linked to the leopard complex.

They were seen in China in ancient times as well, dating back to 206 BC, during the Han Dynasty. The Spanish introduced horses to Mexico in the 1500s. Following the Pueblo Revolt, horses rapidly spread throughout North America, reaching the Northwest around 1700. Historians believe the Nez Perce and Palouse tribes of Washington, Oregon and Idaho were the first tribes to breed horses for specific traits – intelligence, speed and endurance. White settlers call these horses ‘Palouse horses.’ Over time they came to be referred to as ‘a Palousey’ and the ‘Appalousey.’ During the Nez Perce War of 1877, Appaloosa horses helped the non-treaty Nez Perce, under the guidance of Chief Joseph, elude the US Calvary for several months. The coloring of the Appaloosa coat is distinct in every individual horse and ranges from white blanketed hips to a full leopard.

The hallmark of the Appaloosa is his striking and distinctive spotted coat. Dark oval or round spots are seen on their coats. Some display the spots only over their white hips and loins, while others have them all over their bodies. The loin and hip areas are usually the most spotted. Some have white spotting on dark backgrounds and others will display white all over their bodies. The spots range greatly in size from as large as four inches to others that are so small they are merely flecks. Each Appaloosa will possess a unique pattern much like the human’s fingerprint. In addition to their spotted coats, the skin of the Appaloosa is also mottled with spots.

The Appaloosa is an intelligent, fast and hard-working breed. An easy-going disposition and exceptional abilities give this horse a great deal of versatility that no doubt contributes to its rapidly rising popularity. Once the warhorses of the Nez Perce, today the Appaloosa serves as a racehorse, in parades, ranch work and youth programs. The coloring of the Appaloosa’s coat is distinct in every individual horse and ranges from white blanketed hips to a full leopard.

IIRC, Glenn Beck, in one of his hour+ videos with the chalkboards, discussed an authorization re: the patents on the viruses (or was it vaccines? IDR now) belonging to the US government that was tacked onto a hurricane relief bill after Katrina hit – that was in 2005 when Cheney was VP. I’m sure that was one of MANY moves that were made completely out of the public eye! I haven’t read this but I’m sure they focus on the negatives since Bush was a Republican:

“DOJ Opens New Tipline For Criminals To Report Whistleblowers”
U.S. · Jun 21, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday that the DOJ has opened a brand new tipline that criminals could call to report on whistleblowers.
“We will not be intimidated,” Garland said during his announcement. “We will not back down from defending our democracy from whistleblowers.”
The tipline was reportedly created in response to a recent controversy in which a nurse at Texas Children’s Hospital blew the whistle on the illegal use of taxpayer funds to perform transgender surgeries on minors. The FBI heard about it days later from a journalist and were appalled they hadn’t been contacted directly.
“See, that call should have come directly to us,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said. “If you tell us about crimes when they’re already public, we can’t cover them up. And that’s a big no-no. Don’t you care about our democracy?”
President Biden authorized the creation of the number, noting that no one likes a tattle-tale. “Look, Jack. My brothers used to tell on me when we were kids. I wish we had a number back then we could call, but phones didn’t exist back then,” he said.
At publishing time, people using the Whistleblower Hotline were arrested for whistleblowing on the whistleblowers.

As I said, they are basically Quarter Horses with spots – you can see it clearly here – this is the classic QH build/body type. But there is a wide range of body types within the breed because of the influence of multiple breeds of horses throughout its history.
The appaloosa part of it is primarily the color/patterns – it can show up in almost any bloodline, altho it’s relatively rare in purebreds of other types. Over time, the spots are bred out but there is still a recessive gene (I guess that’s what it would be called), which is why you will sometimes see an odd spot or two on horses you would never expect it to be.

Far be it from me to say this, considering all the wind I had here, but we could do with a little of it today! There’s just the slightest breeze now and then – stifling! As long as those falling trees stay far away from your house…..
LikeLiked by 1 person
a few years ago, we had a “tree guy” come to the house to take down some trees that were troubling hubby–too close to the house, he thought or leaning the wrong way. the guy took down those 2 trees and recommended we take down 3 more that were dead (ash trees) and if they snapped in a good wind, they might fall the wrong way.
he dropped them in place and we cut those up ourselves. he pointed out some of the trees that were dead, but because of the slope of the mountain and where our house is, even if they snapped and fell it would be away from the house. he was pretty thorough and knew his stuff.
now it might be across the driveway, but not here at the house…LOL

Ah! I should have known you would plan for that.

hubby does. there are thousands of trees we can cut down to use for firewood, but he tries to take the “dangerous” ones or the dead ones or the ones that have already fallen.

Just The News: “A temporary worker at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC) was arrested for theft, forcing the county to reprogram its security equipment, which will cost around $20,000.
On Friday, Walter Ringfield, 27, who was on probation for a prior felony, was arrested for allegedly stealing a security fob and keys from MCTEC, KTAR News reported. Ringfield was booked on charges of theft and criminal damage. MCTEC released a statement to ABC15 on Monday, saying, “Maricopa County Elections has referred a matter to law enforcement that involves an alleged theft of an item by a temporary election worker from the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center.
“On Friday morning, when completing a daily inventory, Maricopa County elections workers identified that an item was taken from the Ballot Tabulation Center on Thursday evening, and staff took immediate action to investigate the matter and contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office,” the statement continued. “The stolen item has been recovered but to ensure the integrity of Maricopa County Elections, election workers are reprogramming and re-conducting logic and accuracy testing of all equipment.”
According to video surveillance footage, Ringfield took the fob and keys on Thursday. “On the desk there was a red scrunchy wrist lanyard with a security fob and keys attached,” according to the arrest warrant, per KTAR News. “Walter stops at the desk, grabs the lanyard with security fob and continues walking. Walter then puts the security fob and lanyard into the right pocket of his shorts.”
While conducting a search of Ringfield’s Phoenix home on Friday, detectives found the wrist lanyard in his car and the fob in a bedroom dresser. The fob is used for securing tablets at MCTEC. “A director at the facility stated that the estimated cost of the reprogramming would be greater than $19,000 dollars, and the secure operation of the facility is greatly impeded until the reprogramming is complete,” according to the probable cause statement report, per KTAR News.
Ringfield said he was fired from his job at MCTEC because “they thought he stole something,” according to ABC15. “Walter stated his reason for taking the fob was because he wanted to ‘clean up,’” per the probable cause statement, reported KTAR News. “Walter said the job was temporary and he was trying to make it permanent, so he wanted to clean up.”
Maricopa County is preparing for its July 30th primary election, and early voting starts July 3rd.”

that’s IT, i said–Drift Away. he goes no way–this is a country station. on the way home, the announcer said it was a newer version of Drift Away…i was right.

Jill and Joe Biden have been using their Wilmington house as an ATM
…. taking out multiple mortgages and refinancing their Delaware properties an astonishing 35 times
[…]Over the decades the Bidens have borrowed a total of $6million on both properties – and there’s still an outstanding $541,000 mortgage on their current three-bed, 4.5-bath Wilmington mansion nearly three decades after they bought it.
The constant refinancing raises the question of why the Bidens, who have a reported net worth of $10million, needed a constant flow of extra cash.
[…]According to the mortgage documents, the president and first lady purchased their current four-acre lot for $350,000 in March 1996 but have since saddled it with 20 different home credit agreements and mortgages totaling $4.23million.

“Russian UN Accuse US of “Direct Involvement” in Sevastopol”
CLANDESTINE, JUN 24, 2024
****Update****
Russian UN Ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, delivers statement on the Sevastopol attack. Direct US involvement in this attack is “beyond any doubt.”
“Washington and its allies encourage their Neo-Nazi puppets in Kyiv to commit terrorist attacks against civilians”.
Whether you believe Russia’s allegations of US involvement or not, the reality is, global tensions between nuclear superpowers have never been higher. We are the closest we have been to nuclear war since 1962.

THIS IS A HUUUUGE WIN FOR IDAHO and for America. “We, the People” have more power than we know – The Idaho farmers are going to be able to water their crops this year after all thanks to the outcry of the citizens of Idaho. BUT – get ready because those who are buying up the land are trying to starve farmers out of business- Additionally those in the so-called “Green” industry could not care less about whether Americans have enough food for the table – so next year – they will try to create a monopoly again. Green energy is not capable of energizing this country, and certainly not worth starving the American people for.
