Appearance
The coat of the White-tailed deer is a reddish-brown in the spring and summer and turns to a grey-brown throughout the fall and winter. The deer can be recognized by the characteristic white underside to its tail. It raises its tail when it is alarmed to warn the predator that it has been detected. An indication of a deer age is the length of the snout and the color of the coat, with older deer tending to have longer snouts and grayer coats. A population of white-tailed deer in New York is entirely white (except for areas like their noses and toes) – not albino – in color. White-tailed deer’s horizontally slit pupils allow for good night vision and color vision during the day. Males regrow their antlers every year. Males without branching antlers are often termed “spikehorn”, “spiked bucks”, “spike bucks”, or simply “spikes/spikers”. The spikes can be quite long or very short. The length and branching of antlers are determined by nutrition, age, and genetics. Spiked bucks are different from “button bucks” or “nubbin’ bucks”, which are male fawns and are generally about 6 to 9 months of age during their first winter. They have skin-covered nobs on their heads. They can have bony protrusions up to a half inch in length, but that is very rare, and they are not the same as spikes. Males shed their antlers when all females have been bred, from late December to February.
Habits and Lifestyle
White-tailed deer are usually considered solitary, particularly in summer. Their basic social unit is mother and fawns, although sometimes they do graze together in herds that can number hundreds of individuals. Bucks and does remain separate from each other except during the mating season. Bucks usually live alone or within small groups alongside other bucks. Deer living in deserts often migrate from summertime elevations down to warmer areas where there is more food available. White-tailed deer are crepuscular, and mainly feed starting before dawn until a few hours after the sun has risen, and again in the late afternoon until dusk. They use a number of forms of communication, such as sound, odor, body language, and marking with scratches. When alarmed, a White-tailed deer will raise its tail to warn other deer.

Diet and Nutrition
Whitetails are herbivores and feed on twigs, bark, leaves, shrubs, the nuts and fruits of most vegetation, lichens, and other fungi. Plants such as yucca, huajillo brush, prickly pear cactus, ratama, comal, and a range of tough shrubs can be the mainstay of a whitetail’s diet if it lives in a desert area. Though almost entirely herbivorous, White-tailed deer may opportunistically feed on nesting songbirds, field mice, and birds trapped in mist nets, if the need arises
Mating
Whitetails are polygynous, and bucks fight fiercely during the mating season, with winners able to mate with does in the area. The season runs from October to December. The gestation period is about 6 months. A female usually gives birth to one fawn in her initial year of breeding but 2 are born subsequently. Fawns can walk as soon as they are born and only a few days later are able to nibble on vegetation. When seeking food, mothers leave their offspring hidden amongst vegetation. A fawn starts to follow its mother as she goes off to forage when it is about 4 weeks old. At 8 – 10 months old, they are weaned. At one-year-old, young males leave their mothers but young females will often stay with them for two years. Most of them (particularly males) will breed in their second year.

Fun Facts for Kids
When White-tailed deer gather together and trample down snow in a particular area, this is called a “deer yard.”
White-tailed deer can jump vertically more than 8.2 feet and horizontally 354 in, which is almost the length of a school bus.
White-tailed deer swim well and can escape from predators through large streams and lakes.
Only the males grow antlers, and they shed them each year.
White-tailed deer are the shyest and most nervous of deer. When they are startled and run away, their tails wave from side to side.
Deer can smell human odor on underbrush for days afterward. Bucks will stay away from areas that have been visited by humans for weeks afterward.
Bucks usually lie on their right side when they go to sleep, and they face downwind, enabling them to employ their nose, ears, and eyes to detect danger in any direction.
Morning All!
chilly here this morning barely 40*. one of the hummer feeders we can leave out overnight was empty this morning! that’s a first.
and 2 were sitting on the railing. there seem to be 2 hummers –both small females–who can sit next to each other on the feeder and not be aggressive towards the other.

Morning, Pat! 64 here this morning and cloudy, with the rain just now starting; thankfully, it’s not very windy…..yet….I took the hanging plants, jelly and WP feeder down last night since they had predicted some wind. I put the feeders back up – the Orioles were waiting – but will wait on the hanging planters. Only a slight chance of really bad storms/wind but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I’ve got 2 gorgeous orange lilies with big beautiful blooms in the 2 big black pots by the garage; they are really tall so I pull them into my garage when strong winds are expected.
I filled Wheezer’s bowl last night and it’s almost all gone this morning! I’m thinking more and more every day that he is a she; could be that the embryos aren’t implanting so the cycle just keeps repeating.

LikeLiked by 1 person
Once a cat is bred, they will eat more to provide nutrients for the embryos – if the cat isn’t healthy enough overall, the embryos won’t implant in the uterus, which will trigger estrus and breeding again and the whole process starts all over again. Each time that happens, it drains nutrients from her system.

IOW, when she is eating more than normal, she has probably been bred recently and is trying to provide the proper environment/nutrition for the embryos.

Finally, we are getting some clarity about the violent US/Egyptian/Qatari objection to the IDF operations in Rafah.
Following the release of my exclusive report (seen below) today, a few things have become patently clear:
1.There are multiple active tunnels from Gaza to Egypt. Some of them are large enough for a vehicle to drive through.
2.The pattern of life in the tunnels indicates that they were in constant use until just before the IDF offensive in #Rafah began.
3.The tunnels were used to infiltrate/exfiltrate HAMAS and Egyptian intelligence operators, deliver supplies and weapons, and keep the Israeli hostages hidden – including American citizens who @JoeBiden has done nothing to help extract all while the US has continued to supply Egypt with weapons and explosives.
4.On the Egyptian side, the tunnels were operated and controlled by Egyptian intelligence.
5.The US has known about these tunnels for years and what was being transferred through them.
6.The @CIA likely played an active role in facilitating the tunnel activity through their Egyptian and Qatari counterparts.
There needs to be an immediate Congressional investigation into the Biden administration’s funding of HAMAS attacks on @Israel via military aid and funding to Egypt, as well as the involvement by the US @StateDept, @DeptofDefense and @CIA. @RepMikeRogersAL you might want to get on this ASAP

From the start, everything about the Trump NY trial has been corrupt and rotten: – Alvin Bragg’s predecessor declined to prosecute this case. – Alvin Bragg originally declined to prosecute this case. – The DOJ declined to prosecute this case. – Then suddenly, Matthew Colangelo, made a strange downward career move, hopping from #3 at the DOJ to just another prosecutor job at the Manhattan DA’s office. A few months later, the case against Trump abruptly rematerialized, with Biden’s man as lead prosecutor. – The case hinges on an alleged federal election violation that has never been charged. – The Democrat judge, Juan Merchan, has donated to Joe Biden. – The Democrat judge’s daughter, is a professional consultant for Democrats political campaigns, which have raised millions off this trial. – The judge has repeatedly overruled defense objections while allowing the prosecution to run wild. – The judge refused the testimony of an FEC official who would have testified that no federal election crime was committed. – The judge has instructed the jury that they don’t even have to unanimously agree on the underlying “felony” the prosecution is alleging Trump tried to conceal with the hush money to reach a conviction – outrageous! – The prosecution’s star witness, Michael Cohen, is on record saying he wants Trump in jail, is a convicted liar, and and was caught lying about a critical phone call on the stand in cross-examination. – What’s alleged to have happened, even if it was a crime, was all under the advice of counsel—Michael Cohen! – We still don’t know what the crime is! This is another get-Trump, sham show trial in front of a biased judge and a biased NYC jury. Trump still might get a hung jury, but the fact we’ve gotten this far is a travesty of justice and stain on the country.

“Stunning Forecast Model Predicts Trump, GOP Win White House *AND* Congress Majority”
“A new election forecast indicates former President Donald J. Trump will likely retake the White House in November. The model gives Trump a 58 percent probability of defeating the 81-year-old Democrat incumbent Joe Biden and reclaiming the presidency. This forecast comes as less than six months remain until Election Day. The model — built by Decision Desk HQ on behalf of The Hill — was revealed early on Wednesday.
According to the election model, former President Trump has a slight edge in most of the critical swing states. These states — which include Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, Minnesota, Georgia, Maine, and North Carolina — are considered pivotal in determining the outcome of presidential elections. All but just two appear to be leaning in favor of Donald Trump, with Michigan, a one-time Democrat stronghold, in a statistical tie.
The projection also suggests favorable outcomes for the Republican Party in Congress. According to the forecast, the GOP has a 79 percent chance of regaining control of the U.S. Senate. This possible shift in the upper chamber could significantly impact legislative priorities and the ability to confirm appointments. In the House of Representatives, the model predicts a 64 percent chance that the Republican Party will retain its slim majority.
Both parties are expected to intensify their campaign operations in the coming months, aiming to secure undecided voters and bolster support in critical regions. The Republican Party is especially focused on efforts to mobilize its populist base and sway independent voters.”

Trump weighs possible advisory role for Elon Musk, WSJ reports
Our Take: “The timing of this is hardly subtle, with the news we covered yesterday regarding the Saudis investing in Elon’s AI company, but also creating their own space company.
Now Trump is seeding the idea of Elon being in his cabinet? This part is interesting: ‘Trump and Musk have developed a closer relationship and exchanged views on immigration, electric vehicles, the U.S. Space Force, and Musk’s portfolio of companies, according to the Journal.’
Somebody is going to have to roll out the technology that we believe has been withheld from the public, and it makes a lot of sense for that person to be Elon. He already became the top contractor for Trump’s DOD, during Trump’s first term.
I wonder if these moves represent the foundations of an emerging technology sector? As in very advanced technology.” — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

Jill Biden: ‘We Will Lose All of Our Rights’ if Another Republican Gets on Supreme Court
Our Take: “When Jill Biden talks about ‘rights,’ she’s talking about the emotional fever dream of the progressive left. The ‘right’ to not be offended, the ‘right’ to murder babies, the ‘right’ to disarm, to silence, to tip the scales of justice.
When the fever breaks, you look around and realize that our actual inalienable rights are long gone by founding measures.
Speech. Arms. Privacy. Movement. Assembly. Free Exchange. Representation. None of our inalienable rights are actually inalienable in 2024.
Dr. Jill is just gaslighting white leftist women into believing they’re saving democracy by destroying the Republic. They’re the actual worst, and she is their queen.” — Ashe in America

Just The News: “The Justice Department (DOJ) appeared to investigate a conservative parental rights group in the same manner that it investigated the Klu Klux Klan (KKK), according to a news report on Wednesday.
The DOJ’s Community Relations Service monitored the group Mom’s for Liberty alongside certain racist emblems, like a noose, the Confederate flag, and a Swastika. The same tactic was used when monitoring the KKK and the Oath Keepers, according to internal emails obtained by the Daily Wire.
The Community Relations Service says its role is “preventing and responding to community tensions and hate crimes, bias, bullying, and discrimination.” One way it monitored Mom’s for Liberty was through NexisLexis and Google alerts.
The internal emails appeared to show that the DOJ pressured local officials at times to accept their help, including by using emails from doj.gov accounts to allegedly pester them when they did not show interest. One such example is when DOJ-CRS “Conciliation Specialist” Hannah Levine emailed school board officials in Roanoke county to offer her assistance.
“CRS is aware of ongoing community tensions in Roanoke County following the release of the new model policies for transgender students,” Levine wrote in an email reported in August. “I’d like to connect to see if we might be able to offer support and services as you work to manage conflict within the community related to this.”
The DOJ has not commented on the purpose of the monitoring, including whether the organization engaged in any hate crimes.
“We reject the notion that advocating for parental rights and the well-being of children is an act of hate and we call on the Department of Justice to clarify its position on this matter,” Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice told The Daily Wire. “The actions of the federal government should never infringe upon the rights of parents to engage in the democratic process.”

BREAKING: Merchan now describing the burden of proof, beyond a reasonable doubt, to the jury. Explains that the burden of proof is on the People, not the Defendant. Now mumbles and rushes through the definition of a burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Merchan effectively lowered the burden of proof in this case by giving the jurors “options” of crimes to choose from, in order to elevate the underlying falsification crime from a misdemeanor to a felony. This is a flagrant violation of due process because it violates the principle of jury unanimity. As
@JeffClarkUS
rightly pointed out on here a few days ago: “Merchan needs to acquaint himself with Ramos v. Louisiana from the U.S. Supreme Court,” which spells out these principles clearly and concisely — two words that were evidently lost in translation on Merchan when he migrated to the United States from Colombia.

EXCLUSIVE:
🚨JUDGE MERCHAN’S DAUGHTER LOREN MERCHAN’S CLIENTS FROM HER DEMOCRAT POLITICAL CONSULTING FIRM @Authentic_HQ
HAVE BEEN GIVEN SEATS INSIDE THE TRUMP TRIAL IN NYC🚨
Judge Merchan is now allowing his daughter’s clients to have unrestricted access inside the Trump Trial. His daughter, Loren Merchan, is a Democrat political consultant.
According to the Authentic Campaigns Website, which Loren Merchan is the President of, the anti-Trump Brennan Center for Justice is a client of Loren Merchan.
Joyce Vance @JoyceWhiteVance
is a Senior Fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice @BrennanCenter
, and she has been inside the Trump trial where she’s been writing articles for the Brennan Center for Justice, which target and harass the members of the jury in the Trump Trial. One day ago, Joyce Vance wrote and published this article titled, “Can We Trust The Jury In Trump’s Manhattan Trial?”
The Brennan Center for Justice hired Loren Merchan to manage their newsletter (See receipts below), which features articles from the Brennan Center for Justice website. Loren Merchan’s clients are now making money off of Loren’s father, and Loren is profiting off of her clients having seats inside the Trump Trial, because per her own website, Loren Merchan has increased the size of the Brennan Center’s newsletter by 204%!
Political email lists are worth MILLIONS of dollars.
Joyce Vance served as the US Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama from 2009 to 2017. She was appointed by Barrack Hussein Obama.
ALSO EXCLUSIVE:
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Additionally, Susan Sachs Goldman, the mother of Democrat New York Congressman Dan Goldman @RepDanGoldman
is on the Board of Directors for the Brennan Center for Justice. As I previously *exclusively* reported, Rep. Goldman is also a client of Loren Merchan, he prepared @MichaelCohen212
for his testimony in the Trump trial per his admission on MSDNC, and Dan Goldman has sent hundreds of thousands of dollars to the personal home residence of Loren Merchan.
This is arguably jury intimidation in the way that Judge Merchan is having his daughter’s clients, who worked for Obama-Biden’s DOJ, come into the court room to write disparaging articles about the jury, which suggest they can’t make a decision on their own.

Breaking News: I just reported 15 minutes ago that it was reported that some of the jury were shaking their heads in agreement when the judge read aloud what is reasonable doubt.
Now, Bill Hemmer on Fox just said that the jurors had their heads down rubbing their foreheads which is a complete lie from what was reported on his show not 15 minutes before he made sure he said that.
Fox News is setting up a narrative in favor for the judge if the judge refuses to accept the jury verdict of not guilty.
That’s my opinion because of Fox News Hosts blatant lying.

Business Insider: The US gave sensitive plans for over 1,000 American weapons to Ukraine, say 2 officials who gave only a cryptic hint as to what they are: report
“The US has given Ukraine manufacturing plans for more than 1,000 American weapons in hopes of helping Kyiv bolster its own arms production, two officials told The New York Times.”
So Ukraine doesn’t have the manpower, money, or materials, but we gave them plans for 1,000 weapons… why?
Another grift for Ukraine to sell off out the back door? It makes no sense. Did they send out rigged, faulty plans that they hope Russia uses? (Unlikely)

FFS! the jury is being READ the testimony they requested–they can’t read it themselves…it would be hard to follow and refer to in jury deliberations…wTF is wrong with this judge?

Paul Ingrassia is again providing live updates on the trial.

Paul Ingrassia 10:35 AM: BREAKING: In yet another display of Merchan’s “brilliance,” rather than give the jury written transcripts of the requested testimony involving the meetings between Pecker and Cohen (which would be much easier for everyone), he is having the testimony instead be read out loud in the courtroom.
It is possible that the transcript of yesterday’s testimony is not ready yet.
Paul Ingrassia 10:52 AM: BREAKING: Few people are talking about just how difficult it is to follow the spoken testimony of the requested transcripts by the jury. The chosen two speakers are reading quickly, occasionally stuttering over some words, and not always enunciating clearly and properly. She’s no Hollywood actor!
President Trump looks aggravated, and you can’t blame him. Hopefully at least a few of the jurors will sympathize with how he feels right now, as they are also being forced through this agonizing process. The “icebox” courtroom remains dark; the blinds are closed, allowing little sunlight in. The courtroom, which is old and needs a serious refurbishing, is lit by stark fluorescent lighting. The seats on which jurors and members of the public sit are hard and uncomfortable. The air doesn’t filter well, resulting in a stuffy courtroom and miserable experience for everyone in attendance.
Paul Ingrassia 10:55 AM: BREAKING: The oral transcript they are now reading for the jury is the cross-examination of David Pecker.
Not sure if the jury is allowed to take notes throughout as they listen to the requested oral transcripts — if they cannot, there is no way for them to follow and process all this information, which is further complicated by the poor enunciation of the chosen two speakers tasked by Merchan to read the testimony. Prosecution and Defense, in addition to the press and members of the public, all are obligated to sit and listen to this testimony.
Paul Ingrassia 11:03 AM: BREAKING: Some of you have asked me about jury observations. I am in the press overflow room today, and thus cannot see the jury or their reactions. The live video feed being streamed into the overflow room, which is situated on the same floor of the courthouse adjacent to the courtroom where the trial is taking place, is very selective in terms of the video and audio it broadcasts.
I can see President Trump, his attorneys, Bragg’s prosecutors, Merchan, and whoever is on the witness stand. I can also hear everything going on in the courtroom. President Trump’s invitees, as well as the members of the public, are visible, but more difficult to make out. I cannot see any of the jurors, because the court wants to protect their identities — which is odd, given that some members of the press, like Anderson Cooper and Lawrence O’Donnell, have preferential access to the courtroom itself and can see everything going on. While other networks, like Newsmax, are forced to air their coverage from across the street.
Paul Ingrassia 11:24 AM: BREAKING: One of the jurors appears partial to Donald Trump. And frankly, how couldn’t at least one be? Even in deep blue Manhattan, there are still countless Trump supporters…
Paul Ingrassia 12:35 AM:UPDATE: Jury still deliberating. We are now half past noon and still no verdict, of course.
The longer these deliberations take place, the lesser of a likelihood a verdict will be reached today. And the longer the deliberations, conventional wisdom holds the better it is for the defense.
A lot of the morning was spent re-reading the Cohen and Pecker transcripts, suggesting the jurors are doing a thorough and meticulous read-through of the law and facts.
Thoroughness is likely a good sign, given the numerous legal hurdles that must be overcome in order to meet the burden of proof for each and every component of the complex legal matrix that is Bragg and Merchan’s theory of criminal liability here.
