the temp outside is like 25* but no snow on the ground and none falling that i can see. I put out a new corn/apple block yesterday afternoon and there are tufts of white fur everywhere out there around the stump…must have been a rumble we didn’t see out there…lol

        1. It is cloudy here and we may get some light rain mixed with snow over the next couple of days but no more than an inch or so at most. I can deal with that!

Reading an LA Times article about the mess caused by the Department of Education’s rollout of a “streamlined” system to apply for FAFSA loans. Typically the loans could be applied for in October. The rollout was delayed, however, until February of this year, and applications are down!!!! So, to increase the number of applications–because we all want to pay out more loans/s–the Department of Education has a fix:

“Instead, the Department of Education diminished — at least temporarily — federal oversight of the financial aid system to streamline the process. Fewer students will have to verify their identity or financial information; a smaller number of colleges will face program reviews and such reviews can be delayed past the current crunch period.”

We all know this will end well…

    https://www.reuters.com/world/us/biden-national-security-voice-john-kirby-gets-expanded-role-2024-02-11/

John Kirby, President Joe Biden’s top national security spokesperson, is getting a promotion and an expanded role at the White House, a U.S. official told Reuters on Sunday.

Kirby, who in past years has served as the top spokesperson at both the Pentagon and the State Department, will have a new title – White House national security communications adviser – and will be elevated to an assistant to the president from deputy assistant.

He will be in charge of communications coordination for national security across a variety of agencies, the official said.

Kirby will preside over a separate team from the National Security Council’s press office, which will continue its daily press operations as usual. It is headed by chief spokesperson Adrienne Watson.

Kirby has been one of the most visible faces of the Biden White House, frequently joining the podium for briefings alongside press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to brief on national security issues, particularly since the Hamas attacks on Israel on Oct. 7 and Israel’s subsequent attack on Gaza.

His appearances in the briefing room will continue, commensurate with when national security issues are dominant themes of the day, the official said. — Reuters

  7. “A Shortlist Of The Best America First Candidates Running For Congress This Year — President Donald J. Trump may be the heart and soul of the MAGA movement, but he will need to be surrounded by a group of warriors in Congress who share his devotion to America First principles.”

    PAUL INGRASSIA

    FEB 13, 2024

While President Donald J. Trump is the heart and soul of the MAGA movement, he is going to need to be surrounded by a group of warriors who share his devotion to the principles of America First.  The next Congress is poised to have some of the strongest and most patriotic America First candidates to date.  This can potentially be (if all goes well) a freshman class like no other in modern history, equipping President Trump with the firepower – and much-needed backup – that he mostly lacked in his first term in office to advocate for some of his bolder agenda items in Congress – including mass deportations, America First energy and economic renewal, and returning law and order to towns and cities across the land.

Each one of the following candidates are MAGA firebrands – steadfastly devoted to President Trump and his agenda of securing our borders, ending the weaponization of our justice system, and eliminating election fraud.  None of these patriots would have certified the illegitimate results of the 2020 presidential election if it were up to them.  They all will go beyond what any current member of Congress has done to fight for the release of the January 6th hostages currently being imprisoned by the Biden regime.

They all love President Trump, and readily understand that his cause represents America’s last best hope.  For that reason, they heard the call and feel dutybound to enter the storm – and do whatever it takes to help President Trump come next January in his second administration to give him all the support he needs to Make America Great Again:…”

🚨🚨🚨 I just filed an official Bar complaint with the Committee on Professional Standards against New York Attorney General Letitia James for violations of the rules of professional conduct.

“As a Representative of New York committed to upholding the integrity of our legal system, I have found New York Attorney General Letitia James’ handling of the investigation and trial of President Donald Trump nothing short of shameful. It is evident that Attorney General James violated fundamental principles of fairness and impartiality by engaging in a relentless lawfare campaign against President Trump, marked by over 50 prejudicial comments on social media during just the first five weeks of the trial. It’s been her explicit mission since she announced her run for office to go after President Trump. Such behavior not only undermines the integrity of the legal process but also violates the Rules of Professional Conduct to which James, as a licensed attorney, is bound.

While all Americans possess the right to express their opinions on matters of public interest, attorneys–particularly state attorneys general–are held to a higher standard due to their unique role as officers of the court. Her conduct not only constitutes a breach of her professional responsibilities but also risks irreparable harm to the public’s already eroding trust in our legal institutions. I urge the Attorney Grievance Committee to immediately conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate disciplinary action, including the immediate interim suspension, disbarment, or suspension of Attorney General James, to uphold the integrity of our legal profession and ensure justice is served impartially.”

      1. Oh, that sucks! The cord was around HB’s neck, too, but once they cut it, she popped right out, eyes open even before clearing the portal…LOL. They immediately placed her on my chest; bear in mind, our doctor was a certified midwife – they do things a lot different!

      1. That’s exactly what we called it! Man, could that sucker sail!!! Huge engine! When I was living in CO, I had a gay friend from the track who had also relocated to the Co. Springs area. She didn’t know I was aware that she was gay – it just had never come up. I drove down to meet her to catch up and she asked if I had ever been to a gay bar. I hadn’t at that time so I agreed to check it out.

It was during that visit that she discovered I knew and was astonished that I would sit with her and drink. She did NOT expect that kind of acceptance. We got all that straight pretty quickly and I ended up agreeing to drive her to ID to move in with some friends of hers.

That car was literally FILLED to the brim, the trunk was so full we BOTH had to sit on it to get it closed. We were hitting up Black Beauties back in those days – the creme de’la creme of speeds then. Sailing down the interstate….ROFL – those were the days!!! How on earth did I ever survive?!?

It was February and the snow scenery was simply stunning on the trip. I didn’t spend any time there, tho; dropped her and her stuff and headed back the next day. Beautiful drive!
